All of it is centered around the arrival of Bret Hart back home and meeting with his family and friends. The final image is of all 8 men featured as Bret says "tonight is everything". Fade out to black on Sting and Bret's faces as the Spring Stampede logo is shown following the outside shot of the historic Saddledome and the pyro and ballywho hit as Spring Stampede is on the air. Tony and the guys welcome us to north of the border for the very first international WCW pay per view in over 3 years, Spring Stampede. Tonight all four championships are on the line, personal issues are on the line, and careers may very well be on the line. Before the night is over we will know who the champion of World Championship Wrestling will be but, right now we will find out who the rulers of the tag team division is. Its the 3 team no dq brawl and its our opening contest at Spring Stampede so lets go to the ring. Both, the Nastys and the champs, take their turns pummeling on the young Hardys taking them out early before turning on each other and battling around the ring. Knobbs takes Taylor and battles up into the crowd while Sags takes Finlay and makes it down the aisle to the western themed Spring Stampede set where he backdrops Finlay into a bail of Hay and nails him with a fence post. The Hardys have gotten up and come back down the aisle and Matt hits Finlay from behind and they begin brawling back up the aisle. Jeff is able to swing a shovel into the back of Sags which allows him to set up a table as Taylor and Knobbs come back down from the crowd and make it back to ringside brawling. Sags hits Jeff from behind and goes to powerbomb him through the table but Jeff drops to his knees and crotches Sags. Sags is put on the table and then Jeff climbs one of the video walls of the set and takes his shirt off, jumping off with a Senton Bomb through Sags, through the table, taking them both out. Back at ringside, Taylor is put down with a set of steps by Knobbs who then immediately gets into the ring with Matt and Finlay. We suddenly have a three man fight on our hands as each scores a pinfall but then Finlay is dropped by Knobbs. Knobbs then punches Matt into the ropes and charges him to do a clothesline over the top but Matt backdrops Knobbs who lands on the floor with his knee hitting steps. Matt turns around and is immediately picked up by Finlay who nails the Tombstone for the 1...2...3. Winners and still WCW World Tag Team Champions: The Empire Following the win, The Empire leave celebrating their victory while both Hardys and Nastys are down in a heap after this war. They bail to the floor and that is where Rick is able to take control when he runs Booker's shoulder into the ring post. Back in the ring, the Dog Face Gremlin works on Booker's shoulder trying to rip it from its socket. Each time Booker is able to battle back, Steiner takes control. Steiner drops Booker with a T-Bone Suplex right onto his shoulder. Rick goes for a cover but Booker kicks out at 2. With one arm, Booker battles back into this and is able to nail the Harlem sidekick for a 2 count but when he goes to slam Rick, his shoulder gives out. Rick nails a Steinerline....1.....2....Booker kicks out just in the knick of time. They trade some punches and Rick goes for the Steinerline once more but, this time Booker ducks and when Rick turns around (with one arm), Booker lands the Book-End for a cover...1....2...3. Winner: Booker T Following the match, Booker celebrates, hurting, as he has vanguished the Steiners and avenged the breaking up of Harlem Heat. Booker says to the camera "now, its my time" as he walks away with Rick looking stunned in the ring. Grade: 71</div></blockquote> A video package airs detailing the surprise sneak attack of Konnan onto Eddie Guerrero and the threats made by K-Dawg leading to the United States Title match which is next. Grade: 65 <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44224" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="cBoSlZS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cBoSlZS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div> As the United States Champion makes his way down to the ring, Guererro plays to the crowd a little, clearly looking forward to this match. His exuberance however doesn’t allow him to see Konnan coming up from behind and the challenger slams into the champion, knocking him down. Konnan stays on the attack, kicking Guererro down the aisle before whipping a bandana off his head and wrapping it around Guererro’s neck and choking him from behind. He finally relents, stepping back, but as Guererro tries to stand, Konnan moves back in and launches him into the ring steps before rolling into the ring and demanding the referee begins the match. Guererro finally climbs into the ring, clearly the worse for wear and Konnan is on the attack again, as the Champion tries to cover up. The challenger is relentless, whipping the champion across the ring but when Konnan charges in he’s met with a boot to the face and now it’s Guererro on the attack. Still hurt, but clearly fed up, he lays into Konnan with stiff chops and right hands followed by a belly to back suplex. Guererro spends the next couple minutes wearing out Konnan, and when the action goes to the outside, the champion picks up the bandana which was used on him and turns the tables, risking disqualification. Konnan slips back into the ring and stops the champion’s momentum momentarily with a knee to the gut and a powerful slam. Konnan goes to the top but Guererro jumps up and crotches him before climbing up and delivering a hurricanrana off the top. Konnan lands in a heap and Guererro climbs back up before flying off with a frogsplash for the win. Winner and still WCW United States Champion: Eddie Guerrero Grade: 79 </div></blockquote> The Announcers take us back to Nitro last Monday where we learned Goldberg will be cleared to return this week. But, can Goldberg now compete after the 3rd attack by the Giant? Grade: 76 We then go to a long video package highlighting Shane Douglas' arrival in WCW, his taking out of Ric Flair, his attack on Dean Malenko and his feud with Chris Benoit. The video incorporates the arrival of Woman as a counter to Elizabeth and settles on the announcement of the cage match and the promise of Douglas that "there's always a plan b". They begin to brawl immediately as the cage begins to lower and theyre on the floor fighting. Benoit nails Shane in the head with a chair busting him open and then rolls him into the ring. Elizabeth jumps on Benoit's back but, Woman yanks her off hard. Benoit gets in and pummels Douglas as the cage finally lowers around the ring locking them in. Benoit immediately nails a German suplex and covers Douglas for a close two count. Benoit slams Douglas' head into the cage and then goes for his throat and the ref has to pull the Crippler off. That momentary distraction allows Douglas the chance to push Benoit into the ref and him him with a elbow to the back of the neck. Douglas begins to climb the cage but is prevented by the roof top and tries to find a way out but he can't. Benoit climbs up and back suplexes Shane off the ropes and goes for a cover but the ref is down. Benoit goes for the top rope headbutt but Shane is able to roll out of the way and now Douglas goes on the attack. He takes his tape off his wrist and wraps it around the Crippler's throat just as the ref is back up and pulls Douglas off. Douglas throws Benoit into the corner and nails several elbow strike's to Benoit's forehead before slamming him head first into the cage and going for a cover...1...2.. Benoit is out. Douglas goes for the Piledriver but Benoit is able to trip him and slingshot the Franchise into the cage. Both men are down. Elizabeth goes to the outside ref and orders the cage door to be opened. The ref does so and she tries to get in with brass knucks in her hands but Woman is there and yanks her out. The knucks are in the ring as Douglas crawls toward the cage. Woman has chased Elizabeth out of the arena as Douglas is at the door. Benoit grabs him by the leg and drags him back in as the ref shuts the door but, Benoit doesnt see that Douglas has the knucks. Shane swings but Benoit ducks and chops the hell out of Douglas. Benoit grabs the knucks and nails Shane with them and then drops them into his tights. He delivers 3 German Suplexes knocking Douglas out. Benoit looks down on him, smiles, and spits in his face before heading to the door to end this on his own. The ref opens the door. Benoit walks toward it just as BAM BAM BIGELOW jumps over the guard rail and throws the outside ref to the side and slams the door directly onto Benoit's head. Benoit is out cold, Douglas crawls over to him, drags him a little and covers 1....2....3. Winner: Shane Douglas Following the match, the cage opens and Elizabeth has come back out. Bam Bam slides into the ring rolling Shane out. He lifts Douglas up and puts him over his shoulder as Elizabeth follows behind high fiving the Beast from the East as plan B apparently has worked. Grade: 85 </div></blockquote> Mean Gene interview in the back with Bret Hart. Bret gets emotional talking about how the last time he was in Calgary on pay per view, it was a special night for the Hart family. His family is here tonight once again and Bret will not let them down tonight. After the most chaotic year of his life, the most emotional, it all comes to a head tonight. Sting is someone he respected until recently. But now this is personal and with Bret's family in attendance, there is no way that Bret Hart will not leave Calgary the World Champion. After that both metn take each other seriously as Liger brings the fight to the champ scoring several close falls that forces Guido to take a powder to the floor. He is met with a flying front somersault from the middle rope and rolled back into the ring. But when Liger goes to go back in, Guido kicks him in the face. From then, Guido has control and before long locks in the half Boston crab but the Japanese legend will not quit. Guido goes for a suplex but Liger reverses it, lifts Guido up and nails a Liger Bomb for a close two count. Liger goes up top for the top rope front somersault again but Guido meets him up top. Liger pushes him off and nails a flying backsplash. He lifts Guido up for a Tiger Driver but Guido uses the momentum to drop down and cradle the challenger and place his feet on the ropes as the ref counts 1...2...3. Guido immediately bails with his belt celebrating as he stole this victory from Jushin Liger. Winner and still WCW Cruiserweight Champion: Guido Grade: 68</div></blockquote> Diamond Dallas Page & Chris Jericho are backstage with Mean Gene Okerlund. They say that this feud with the revamped nWo in the form of the Wolfpac has seen ups and downs. They've had victories and they've had losses, the worst being that the Wolfpac is guaranteed a World title match any time of their choosing, but tonight will not be one of those losses. While their friends do battle over the most coveted prize in professional wrestling, we will stand our ground and fight for WCW. Tonight, with the world watching, The Outsiders finally get put down. - They walk off as the match is next. Jericho tries some fast paced moves but Nash uses his power to throw Jericho into Page's corner forcing the tag. DDP gets in and Big Sexy mocks DDP's diamond cutter sign which Page responds with a slap in the face and then a haymaker and suddenly we have a brawl between the two former friends. Page nearly scores with the Diamond Cutter but Hall is in the ring and clobbers Page from behind and that allows the Outsiders to begin to cut the ring off. They take turns tagging in and out and wearing down Page. Hall does alot of the scientific moves to hurt DDP while Nash tags in and does power moves like sidewalk slams and elbow's in the corner. Page is able to duck a big boot from Nash who crotches himself on the ropes and make it to Jericho to tag in but Syxxx was on the ropes distracting the ref. Hall gets in and blasts Page from behind and drops him with a fall away slam for a 2 count with Jericho making the save. Nash is back in and this time he nails Page with the big boot and then snake eyes and goes for the Jackknife but Jericho runs in and jumps on him and is able to gouge the eyes of Nash. Jericho gets back to his corner as Page crawls to him. Nash grabs Page's legs but Page is able to lunge and make the tag. Jericho comes in and ducks a Nash punch and bounces off the ropes drop kicking his left knee. Jericho nails the Lionsault for a two count that Hall has to make the save. Jericho goes for it again but Hall blasts Jericho in the head and tags in. The two brawl to the floor while Page and Nash recover. Back in the ring, Nash grabs Jericho as Hall charges but Jericho moves and Nash is nailed and falls to the floor. Jericho nails an Enziguri on Hall and tags in DDP. DDP goes for the Diamond Cutter but, Hall reverses and nails the Outsiders Edge. When he goes to cover, Nash screams he wants in. Hall tags and Nash comes in and goes for the Jackknife again but Jericho flies off the top rope and drops Nash with a super dropkick. Hall grabs Jericho and they brawl on the floor eventually Jericho throws Hall through the time keeper's area taking him out. Syxxx sneaks up behind and posts Jericho. In the ring DDP nails the Diamond Cutter but the ref is on the floor checking out Jericho and Hall. Syxxx slides in and blasts Page with a chair, Nash hits him with the Jackknife and covers with the ref getting back in to count 1...2...3. Winners: The Outsiders Hall, Nash and Syxxx walk up the aisle celebrating while Jericho comes into the ring to check on DDP. Jericho glares at them as they rub in the faces of DDP & Jericho that the numbers game caught up to them. Grade: 80 </div></blockquote> The announcers cry foul and say the nWo will pay for their treachery down the road. We then see a live outside shot of the Calgary Saddledome and then a shot of the crowd where we see Stu and Helen Hart and the rest of the Hart family in attendance. Grade: 78 The cameras cut to the back and we see Bret Hart exit his locker room and he has the Canadian flag with him as he walks his way toward the ring for the main event. Michael Buffer makes the introductions and the bell sounds as the World Heavyweight Title match is upon us. The two square off and each man quickly tries to lock in their respective versions of their submissions with each men getting to the ropes to prevent it. Soon, Bret proves his technical superiority and starts working on Sting's back with a series of punishing blows like sidewalk slam, a gutwrentch and slamming Sting's back into the guardrail on the floor. Each time Bret goes for a cover and each time, Sting gets out. Bret goes for the Sharpshooter but Sting kicks forward and Bret crashes through the ropes to the floor. Sting climbs up top and flies off with a crossbody and then slams Bret's back against the guardrail as well as the ring steps before sliding back in. Now, the champ is working on the back of the challenger and scores a near fall after a sit out Powerbomb but it only gets two. He locks in a crossface onto Bret who screams for mercy and gets to the ropes forcing a break. The technical aspect of the contest is over as the two start trading punches and chops and Bret gets Sting into the corner and whips Sting to the other corner. Bret charges but Sting puts his boot up and nails the Hitman in the face and cradles for a two count. Sting climbs the ropes but Bret hits the ropes and crotches Sting. Bret climbs up and delivers a Superplex onto Sting who holds on and rolls through and nails the Scorpion Death Drop. Cover...1....2...Bret kicks out barely. Sting goes to grab Bret but Bret reverses it and rolls Sting up but steps out and locks on the Sharpshooter. Sting screams real pain as he tries to get to the ropes but Bret pulls him back. Sting finds the strength to push up and reverse it locking in the Scorpion Death Lock!! Bret screams now and struggles to get to the ropes and makes it with the ref being forced to break the hold. Sting comes over and Bret pulls him through the ropes to the floor. Bret runs and does a topez through the ropes to the floor taking down Sting. Back in the ring, Bret goes for the Sharpshooter again but Sting propels him into the turnbuckles...gets a running head start and nails the Stinger Splash. Sting covers 1....2....Bret is out again. Sting goes for the Scorpion again but Bret is able to cradle Sting for a 1....2....Sting is out. Sting swings and Bret ducks, trips Sting and SHARPSHOOTER!!! Sting screams in agony as he eyes the ropes yet again. Sting slowly crawls to the ropes but Bret pulls him back and sits back. Sting crawls and reaches for the ropes and just as he does, Bret applies more pressure and Sting keeps reaching for the ropes. Sting has his fingers outstretched and almost there as Bret sits back even farther and Sting, reaching, can't make it and is forced to tap out. Winner and NEW WCW World Heavyweight Champion: Bret "Hitman" Hart Grade: 87 </div></blockquote> The Saddledome explodes in cheers as the bell is sounded. The Hart family race into the ring to celebrate as Bret is given the title. Sting gets up slowly and walks over to Bret and after a beat, offers his hand to Bret and they shake before Sting leaves. As Bret celebrates with his wife and kids and family, Kevin Nash comes out to the entranceway. Bret sees him too but all Nash does is stand there mocking Bret with a fake clap. Nash leaves and Hart celebrates with the last image of the night being the Hitman holding the WCW title and the Canadian Flag high as Spring Stampede goes off the air. La Parka takes out Heavy Metal early and begins to dominate Brookside before the brit nearly scores a pinfall after a kick to the head. La Parka drops Brookside on his head with a brainbuster and struts around the ring unaware of Metal who flies off the top with a missle dropkick. He is able to score a near fall on La Parka before dumping him to the floor. Brookside sneaks up and locks on a reverse armbar and nearly gets a submission but Metal fights back and hits a Northern Lights Suplex bridge for the 1..2..3. Winner: Heavy Metal Grade: 60</div></blockquote> Cruiserweight champion Guido comes out and says that tomorrow night Jushin Liger will get his stupid rematch in his hometown in front of his home country and...he will lose again. Guido will embarass the so called "legend" and send him home with tears in his eyes. And once he does, he will be on the lookout for his next victim which is why the champ is here. Two upstarts in the Cruiserweight division face off next and, who knows, maybe one of them will be the next to have their dreams broken. The champ is going to sit front row and watch this - the champ is watching, boys, show him something. The tide turns on the floor when Dinero flies off the top but Daniels catches him in mid air and does a Death Valley Driver onto the floor. He rolls Dinero in and hits a jumping moonsault off of the top rope for a two count and goes for a sit out powerbomb that nearly earns the victory. Daniels sets Dinero up on the ropes and goes for a hurricanrana but Dinero holds onto the ropes and Daniels lands on his neck. Dinero quickly seizes the moment and nails the Jalapeno Popper for the 1..2..3. Winner: Julio Dinero Grade: 14 Guido mockingly claps at Dinero's win which gets Julio's attention. Dinero comes over and points at Guido's title and Guido smiles before spitting in Dinero's face. Julio is furious at the insult as Guido high tails it through the crowd. And on a personal note, "Sting, whenever you want your rematch, I will consider it an honor." He thanks the fans and says he will see them tomorrow in Tokyo . The Japanese fans scatter as the Nastys and the Empire swing chairs as they make their way to the staging area. Taylor is taken out by the challengers and the Nastys bring Finlay into the ring and start taking him apart but the Belfast Bruiser will not give in. Taylor is able to make his way back up to the ring but then is met with a PittyCity and he falls to the floor disgusted. Finlay is able to use the moment to throw Sags to the floor and Knobbs and Finlay go at it. Taylor, on the floor, throws Sags head first into the steps effectively taking him out. The champs start to team up and after a brief comeback, Knobbs is nailed with the Tombstone and then put into the Taylor Stretch and Knobbs is forced to submit. Winners and Still WCW Tag Team Champions: The Empire Grade: 54 </div></blockquote> Syxxx makes his way out to the ring for the US Title match and he says that DDP is angry at him but one person that is happy with Syxxx is Page's former old lady. And tonight, when he wins the US title, he will make her even happier. Most of the match, Eddie dominates and just beats the hell out of Syxxx who struggles just to survive. When Eddie goes to the ropes to nail the Frog Splash, Syxxx is able to hit the ropes forcing Eddie to fall off to the floor. Syxxx does a running senton through the ropes and throws Eddie into the barricade and gets him back into the ring. He goes for the Buzzkill but Eddie reverses around and locks in a Dragon Sleeper. Syxxx gouges at Eddie's eyes to break the hold but, Eddie quickly nails the 3 Amigos for a near fall. Eddie nails the Frog Splash...1...2...Syxxx kicks out. Syxxx fights back into the match and they trade blows when Syxxx smacks Eddie in the face. This enrages the champion and Syxxx goes into the corner to escape. Eddie charges and Syxxx slaps him again. Eddie is furious and pounds Syxxx in the corner and wont stop at the ref's orders. The ref gets into the middle and tries to break it up and this allows Syxxx to reach into his tights, hes got brass knuckles. When Eddie charges, Syxxx nails him in the jaw and covers, covering the knucks, 1...2...3. Winner and new WCW United States Champion: Syxxx Following the match, Syxxx bails as Eddie slowly comes to and realizes he got screwed. Syxxx celebrates in the aisle and Eddie gets out charging, Syxxx runs out of the arena with the belt. JJ Dillion runs out and talks to the ref and the announcer and says, the match has been changed. It is now Sting & Hansen vs The Outsiders. The story of this match is the Outsiders working on Sting and keeping him from the legendary partner. Nash and Hall trade beat down's on Sting as he tries to get to Hansen but is unable to. Finally, Sting back drops Hall and crawls to Hansen while the fans cheer. He is almost there but Nash is in the ring distracting the ref as Sting tags Hansen. The ref doesnt see it and Sting must stay in. Nash gets into the ring and starts using power moves onto Sting with Sting kicking out of a sideslam pinfall combination. Nash throws Sting into the corner and goes for a Stinger's Splash but Sting moves and Nash hits head first onto the turnbuckle. Nash is trying to get to hall as Sting, finally, tags in Hansen. Hall is in and Hansen is in and Hall runs from Stan who gives chase on the floor. Hansen brawls on the floor with Hall but Nash is able to nail him from behind and the Outsiders throw Hansen into the barricade. They throw him back into the ring and Nash prepares to nail Hansen with the Jackknife but Sting is back in and clotheslines Nash over the rope. Sting climbs the ropes and flies off with a crossbody taking Nash out on the floor. Hansen goes for the Lariat but Hall ducks and lifts him up for the Outsiders Edge. Hansen drops down and when Hall turns around, Hansen nails the Lariat. Cover...1...2...3. Winners: Sting & Stan Hansen Following the match, The Outsiders bail as Sting and Hansen celebrate in the ring. Sting shakes his hand and bails and Stan Hansen gets the ring alone to celebrate with the audience he knows so well as night one of WCW's Japan SuperShow comes to a close.
