Every time the Skyscrappers looked to wrap up the match, a last second kick out or a save from the other's partner keep the Young Pistols alive. The match ended when Tracy Smothers caught Sid Vicious with a roll up, to steal the match for the Young Pistols in 14:21

In another great showing between two of the better wrestlers in the company, Bobby Eaton made Owen look like a star in the making in a great back and forth contest. Eaton got the advantage after a mistake by Owen early. Eaton managed to cut the younger man off each and every time it looked like Owen was about to get the upper hand. In the end, Eaton missed the Alabama Slammer, allowing a dazed Owen to make his way to the top rope and hit a Missile Dropkick at the 17:02 mark for the win.

Brian Pillman: What is this all about Paul? I've got a match to get ready for?

Brian Pillman v Art Barr ©

In what turned out to be the match of the night, Pillman and Barr showed everyone what professional wrestling in 1991 could be. Hard hitting, fast paced action that saw an amazing series of moves. A missed Frog Splash followed by a missed Air Pillman had both men down on the mat, and thats when the two took the crowd on a ride. For the last 5 minutes of the match, the two traded big move and near fall till the last minute of the bout. Pillman tried for covers after a huge drop kick, suplex and clothesline. But with seconds to go, Pillman hit the springboard clothesline known as Air Pillamn onto the champion, to only have the champ roll out of the ring as the bell rang to signal the end of 15 minutes. Missy Hyatt ran to the time keepers table and grabbed the belt as the two celebrated to the back, leaving a dejecting Pillman in the ring.

Stan Hansen v Lex Luger ©

In a wild brawl, Stan Hansen and Lex Luger beat the hell out of each other. They fought around ringside, in the ring, but outside. By mid way through the match both men were bruised and bleeding from the use bull rope Hansen brought to ringside. At one point Hansen looked to have the match wrapped up, with the bull rope wrapped around his arm, he leveled Luger with one that held him down for 5 seconds. As he staggered to his feet he was leveled with a second one that took Luger to the count of 8 to get back to his feet. Hansen leveled Luger with a third lariat that kept him down for the count of 9.5.

Luger pulled himself up to his feet with the use of the ropes and Hansen charged in for a 4th Lariat, but Luger collapsed and Hansen tumbled to the floor.

Hansen pulled himself up using the guardrail as Luger leaned on the ropes looking down. Both men bleeding, and breathing heavy, Luger followed Hansen to the floor where both men proceeded to throw haymakers at each other as the crowd erupted. Luger started to get the best of Hansen, knocking him backwards. Luger grabbed Hansen by the wrist and threw him to the guardrail. Hansen slumped back and Luger charged at him hitting him with a clothesline that sent both men tumbling to the floor. Both men took a 8 count before getting back up and throwing fists at each other. Again Luger got the best of Hansen, this time grabbing Hansen and whipping him into a row of seats as fans scatter as Hansen tumbles over the chairs.

Hansen took a 9 count and climbed his way to his feet to just be blasted with a chair to the face. Luger hit Hansen over and over again in the back with a chair. Luger picked up Hansen and pulled him up into a torture rack in the audience. Fans everywhere losing their minds as Hansen appears to pass out from the pain. Luger dumps Hansen back to the floor. By this point they have brawled all the way to the hockey boards surround the floor. Luger pulled Hansen to his feet and whipped him as hard as he could into the boards. Hansen hits the board and pops forward into a huge Lariat from Luger that sees Hansen fail to met the 10 count at the 21:32 mark.

The Horseman v The Steiner Brothers ©v Doom © w/ Teddy Long

The crowd was really cooking as the 3 Way Tag Mach started. The rules were that only two men in the ring at a time and any team could tag any team. Lots of trash talk early with it taking everything the ref could manage. After some pushing in shoving the ref convinced all 3 teams to their corners, as the announcers told us that since both the Steiner's and Doom were the defending champs that a member of each team would start. Rick Steiner and Butch Reed started things off. The tag match started slowly with Rick and Butch exchanging headlocks and pushing each other off. After several attempts to gain control, Butch was pushed towards the ropes where Barry Windham tagged himself in.

The first five minutes of the match when by with no team really gaining control. At the 8 minute mark we saw are first pinfall attempt by Ric Flair on Scott Steiner, but Ron Simmons interrupted the count. Flair popped to his feet and shoved Simmons, which lead to all 6 men for the first time brawling in the ring. The ref tried to gain control, but after a while just let the 6 men go. Jesse Ventura mentioned that the ref must of been instructed in the back that we had to have a winner this time around to unify the tag titles. All 6 men ended up brawling on the floor, as the crowd continued to go wild. As Scott Steiner had over powered and taking control of Ric Flair, Barry Windham came from behind and took at the knee of Scott. Barry picked up Scott and rolled him into the ring, Flair rolled in after and tagged Barry in as the match as things calmed down and the horseman began working over the knee.

The horseman did a great job of keeping Scott away from his brother, but they couldn't managed to stay away from Doom who managed to tag their selves in continue to beat down Scotty. For a while Doom and the Horseman worked over the Scott. At the 20 minute mark, a missed shoulder block by Butch Reed allowed Scotty to slowly crawl to the corner and tag his brother, and the roof came off the building. Rick hit Steiner Lines on Butch Reed and Ron Simmons. Then Barry Windham charged at Rick, followed by Flair who both received Steiner Lines. All four men rolled out of the ring and Rick Steiner ran around the ring barking like a lunatic and the crowd barked back at him with a roar of approval from the crowd.

Jesse Ventura commented that Rick should spend less time barking like a dog and go out and grab Butch Reed and go for the win. All 6 men ended up back in the ring brawling, as the 6 men brawled around ring side. Rick and Scott Steiner managed to isolate Ric Flair. Scotty lifted Flair onto his shoulder's and Rick Steiner popped up onto the apron and hit bulldog off the apron to the floor. Barry Windham and Butch Reed were in the ring again and Barry put Reed onto the top of the turn buckled and hit a superplex. Ron Simmons rolled into the ring and picked up Barry Windham and nailed a running power Slam in the center of the ring. The Steiners rolled into the ring and started hitting punches on Simmons driving him back to the ropes. Rick whipped Ron into the ropes and Scott hit a beautiful Frankensteiner to a huge reaction from the crowd. Ron rolled out of the ring as Scott lifted Barry Windham onto his shoulders and Rick Steiner came off the top rope with a Bulldog. Scott covered Barry at the 27:51 mark to retain the US Tag Team Championship and win the WCW World Tag Team Championships. As the Steiner's celebrated to the delight of the crowd, Jesse wondered if Scott and Barry were the two legal men in the ring at the end. JR told him it didn't matter, as the brothers from Detriot are now your unified World Tag Team Champions!

Sting v Rick Rude © w/Paul E Dangerously

In an exceptional match, Rick Rude and Sting put on a classic, and slowly built the crowd back into a frenzy. Sting came out hot and wanted to get his hands on Rude. Rude took to the outside several times to get away from Sting. Each time he managed to escape by fingertips. Sting kept yelling and Rude to come on, are you scared. After the 3rd escape to the floor. Sting rolled to the floor and went to chase after Rude. Paul E Dangerously jumped in the way, forcing Sting to put on the breaks. Paul E poked the antenna of his cell phone in Sting's chest asking him he was he was going to hit him. Sting turned around from Paul E and was leveled by Rude with a clothesline. After sending Sting into the guardrail twice, he tossed Sting into the ring and followed.

Rude took advantage and started to slowly pick Sting apart. Sting eventually was able to capitalize on a mistake by Rude and take control for the first time around the 10 minute mark. Sting really started to get the crowd behind him as he had Rude on the ropes, but Rude ducked a punch, hit a knee to the gut and took control again. Every time Sting took control, it only took Rude a few minutes to gain it back. Around the 20 minute mark, Rude hit the Rude Awakening on Sting, and got a 2 and 7/8th count as Sting managed to get his fingers on the bottom rope. Rude lost it and started yelling at the ref. By the time Rude focused his attention back on Sting, Sting reached up as Rude was pulling him to his feet and used his leverage to send Rude to the floor. Sting slowly started to pull himself to his feet as the crowd really got behind him. Sting staggered back from the ropes as Paul E as helping Rude use the guardrail to get up. Sting pounded on his chest and yelled to the crowd and went rushing towards the far ropes, hitting them and charging towards Rude on the floor. Sting leaped over the top rope and crashed down onto Rude with a huge cross body sending Rude smashing into the guardrail.

Sting popped to his feet with a yell and the place started rocking. Sting pulled Rude to his feet and whipped him into the guardrail. Rude slumped down as Sting charged forth and hit a huge Stinger splash against the guardrail. Paul E started to lose his mind on the floor and motioned his arms towards the back for someone to come help. Sting hit several chops and then broke the ref's count and rolled back out of the ring. At this point the camera cuts to the entrance way as......

The building explodes again as the new WCW Tag Team Champions the Steiner Brothers rush towards the ring. Gordy and Williams turn around and met the Steiner's head on the long runway from the entrance way to the ring and begin to brawl. With the ref's attention clearly on the 4 men not in the match, the shot changes to Sting in control of Rude on the floor. Sting whips Rude into the opposite guardrail again. Sting hits two boots to the gut and runs to opposite side of the ring, steps up onto the guardrail and yells to the again. Sting turns his attention back to Rude and rushes him from the whole length of the ring and leaps into the air for a Stinger splash only to hit nothing but guardrail as Paul E Dangerously pulls Rude out of the way. Stinger collapses on the floor clutching his ribs as Paul E holds Rude up. Paul is yelling at Rude that the time is now, the time is now. Rude pushes himself off of Paul E and grabs the phone out of his hands. As Sting turns towards the pair, Rude blasts Sting in the head with the phone with pieces flying everywhere.

As Sting slumps to the floor, the camera cuts to the ramp way where the Steiner and the Miracle Violence connection and brawling towards the back. JR tells him listen to this crowd, nothing can keep the Sting down when these fans are behind a man like this. Rude pulls Sting back to his feet and punches him square in the jaw. Sting looks at Rude and shakes his head. Rude throws another punch, and Sting smiles. Rude throws another two punches and kicks him in the mid section pushing Sting back into the corner. Rude with two more punches, and Sting just smiles at him and yells as he pounds his chest. Rude back down and Sting charges forward and hits a clothesline. Rude pops back up and Sting hits another. Rude pops up again and Sting nails another. Rude a little slower to get up this time, Sting helps him up and starts punching him driving him back into the corner.
The Wrestling Lariat

Monday, Week 1, March 1991

Sting was awarded the PWI Wrestler of the Year. News broke shortly before SuperBrawl that he had won the award.

WCW Fallout from SuperBrawl

Ted Turner is said to have been very happy with how hard everyone worked Sunday night putting on a fantastic show that really set the bar for what a WCW PPV will look like in the future. The boys in the back were shocked at how great Brian Pillman and Art Barr performed and really put everyone else on notice to bring their A game that followed them last night. Turner thanked both of them after the fact for their hard work.

It was also announced last night to the boys that Turner had purchased warehouse space in Florida to open a developmental territory letting the boys know that he was all in for the future of not only WCW but the business. The company will be called Florida Championship Wrestling and will be run and operated by Dusty Rhodes. Dusty immediately reached out to Les Thatcher to give him control over booking while Dusty focuses on running and training the young wrestlers. Magnum TA and Jody Hamilton will be sent down to FCW to help train the new recruits as well. Multiple men on the WCW roster have already been sent down to begin training with them who were deemed not ready for a big push. No names of have come out yet as to who was sent down or if anyone has been signed specifically for FCW yet.

Ted Turner is said to be very unhappy with the relationship with NJPW. WCW requested the use of one, possibly two wrestlers last week and NJPW balked at the idea of loaning them out for the time requested. Exactly what is being planned is unknown, but there has been talk that WCW may end the relationship with NJPW. Turner was quoted if they don't want to help us maybe its time we move on from this relationship.

There is also talk that 5 wrestlers have their contracts coming to and end this month and none of them will be resigned. There is only one name that is said to be somewhat of a surprise, but who that is hasn't come out yet. Whether WWF has any interest in the 5 is yet to be seen.

OOC

I probably picked a bad time to start this diary with everything that has been going on in my life the last couple of months. But everything that was causing delays in me having a routine to post stuff is now over. The goal is get the next Clash of Champions and the 4 WCW Saturday Nights out this week.

Also, with the total lack of predictions for SuperBrawl I have decided to end the prediction contest a month early. I will be reaching out to everyone who voted and offering them a small prize as a thank you for playing, and offering the winner a chance to pick a more important prize. The announcement for what they are picking for will come out at the Clash of Champions.

Moving forward I will do smaller contests till I get in a grove and more people vote before rolling out a bigger prize and contest. Thanks everyone for reading, hope you enjoyed SuperBrawl! As always i'd love any feedback on how to make my diary better.

It took a portable phone to the head to finally put me down. That doesn't sound to me that you were the better man last night. But I am a better man. I signed the contract, I knew last night was my last chance at you Rude. I don't have to like it, but I accept it. But what I didn't sign away last night was my right to make your life a living hell Paul E Dangerously.

The crowd erupts in approval at Sting's defiance, and quickly changes to a chorus of boos as Paul E steps out from the back with microphone in hand.

Paul E Dangerously: You had two months to plan Sting. You had two months to prepare. You said you were ready, but you knew just as well as I did he had no chance to out think me. I've had all the cards dealt since I devised this little plan of mine. And now? Now you are a thing of the past. As long as Rick Rude holds the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, you will never get another shot at him for that title. So what are you going to do? Nip at my heels like the bad little dog that you are? You know what I do to bad little dogs that don't know their place? I put them down.

And with that, the camera pans out to show "Dr Death" Steve Williams and Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy jumping the guardrail behind Sting. The fans start to boo as the duo slides under the bottom rope and hit a double clothesline from behind. As Williams and Gordy start to put the boots to the Stinger, Rick Rude slides under the bottom rope to join them. Rude pauses to motion to Williams and Gordy to pick up Sting. The pair pick up Sting and shove him towards Rude, who drops him with the Rude Awakening. Rude pops to his feet to a chorus of boos, that quickly change into an eruption of cheers.

Rick and Scott Steiner appear from the entrance way and rush past Paul E Dangerously as they slide into the ring only to be met with boots from the trio in the ring. Rude and Gordy beat down Scotty as Williams holds off Rick Steiner. Gordy hits a Backdrop Driver on Scotty as Rick looks on. The trio then turn their attention to Rick as both Scotty and Sting are down. As they continue to lay the boots to Rick, the crowd erupts again as the camera changes to the entrance way.

Lex Luger rushes down to the ring and attempts to help his friends, but quickly the numbers are too much as the trio is beating down both Lex Luger and Rick Steiner. The camera cuts to Paul E Dangerously at ringside again who is standing right next to Sting as he lays on the apron.

Paul E Dangerously: You see Sting? YOU SEE? I have an answer for......

The crowd erupts as a man jumps the guardrail and slides into the ring wearing a hoodie. Steve Williams is the first to see the man and rushes forward who is caught by an arm bar that send Williams fly towards the ropes. Gordy rushes forward and is caught again by the hooded man who hits another beautiful arm drag to make space. As he pops to his feet again the hood falls off to reveal the face of Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat. The Hawaiian arena erupts at an appearance of the hometown hero. Rude rushes forward and it met with a drop kick that sends Rude to the ropes and rolls out of the ring. Steamboat rushes towards Williams and hits him with a clothesline sending him tumbling out of the ring. Steamboat pops back to his feet and rushes towards Gordy who drops down and rolls out of the ring. The Dangerous Alliance retreats as Steamboat helps Sting to his feet to end the show.

Saturday, Week 2, March 1991

Live from the Norfolk Scope (Mid Atlantic) in front of a crowd of 10,134

The show opens to the sounds of 2001 Space Odyssey blare over the PA, as Ric Flair makes his way to the ring to a huge ovation from the Mid Atlantic crowd. Flair is dressed as only he can, with a pissed off look on his face hidden just barely behind his sunglasses.

Ric Flair: Norfolk, Virgina.............WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The crowd reacts to the hometown mention and wooos in return for the Nature Boy.

Ric Flair: We are in the middle of Flair Country, what should be Horseman Country. We should be limousine ridin, jet flyin, with all the finest ladies. But instead Arn Anderson seems to have disappared like a ghost. And Barry Windham....

The crowd boos as the mention of Barry Windham.

Ric Flair: Barry Windham wants to put all the blame on us losing the World Tag Titles on me when he is the one that got pinned to lose the damn match. Well Barry, its been 7 days since you decided to walk out on our match and you can't pick up the phone to answer my questions. So why don't you man up and come tell me to my face why you did what you did.

Ric Flair turns towards the entrance ramp and looks down at his watch. The crowd starts to get restless and begins to boo the lack of arrival of Barry Windham.

Ric Flair: I got all night Windham, I know you're back there. So why don't you come out here, instead of making me come find you.

The camera cuts to the entrance way, and again no one comes out. As the camera cuts back to the ring, from behind Ric Flair you just barely see a blonde man slide under the bottom rope, and the fans begin to boo as Barry Windham rises to his feet and motions for Flair to turn around. As he does, you see what looks like a chain wrapped around his fist. And Flair finally turns around Barry unloads a right hand to Flair with the chain wrapped fist that drops him. Barry starts putting the boots to Flair. After seven kicks, Windham stops to look down at a now bloody Ric Flair. Barry grabs the microphone that was dropped.

Barry Windham: You always talk about to be the man, you got to beat the man. Well Ric, you are more concerned about winning tag titles, because you know damn well you aren't the man anymore. But I don't care one bit about winning the tag titles. You know, as well as I do, that when you ask the question of who is the man, when it comes to the Horseman, there is only one answer, Barry Windham.

Barry kicks Flair a few more times for good measure, and then drops down on the mat and looks Flair right in the eyes.

Barry Windham: Look at me when I'm talking to you Flair. I'm the man Flair, I AM.

Windham rolls out of the ring in disgust to a chorus of boos from the crowd

Sid Vicious v Steve Armstrong

In a decent match, Vicious controlled most of the match over powering Armstrong through out. A few small mistakes lead to moments of hope for Armstrong. After several near falls, Vicious motioned to end it and picked up Armstrong for a Power Bomb. Instead of delivering the finishing move, Armstrong managed to use the moment and flip over Sid's head and rolling up Vicious for 3 count at the 12:20 mark. Armstrong rolled out of the ring quickly and Sid Vicious shoved the ref out of his way and tried to get to Armstrong.

We cut backstage to Brian Pillman walking when he is stopped by Paul E Dangerously, before Paul E can even say anything Pillman tries to walk right by him.

Brian Pillman: I already told you Paul, I dont want anything to do with whatever it is you're selling.

Paul E Dangerously: Really? I made a promise to Rick Rude, and he's the World Heavyweight Champion. I made a promise to Sting that not only who he not win back the World Heavyweight title, that he would never get another shot at it. And look where we are now. When I make a promise Brian, things just happen to fall into place for me. And I am here to offer you a promise Brian. Are you sure you don't even want to hear what I have to say?

Brian Pillman: I don't need you Paul to get what I want. I don't need to ride the coattails of my friends to get what I want. I will be champion, and I will be champion because of my actions, not yours or anyone elses.

Pillman starts to walk and Paul continues talking, just a little louder so he knows Pillman hears him.

Paul E Dangerously: Well if you don't want to hear my offer Brian, I'll make you a different promise. As long as you refuse to listen to my offer I promise you this, you will never hold gold in WCW.

Pillman walks off shaking his head, and Paul E just laughs to himself.

Miracle Violence Connection v Sting and Lex Luger

In a hard hitting affair, these four men held nothing back and for 20 plus minutes went back and forth. Just as it looked like Sting and Luger were about to take control for good, Paul E Dangerously got the ref's attention away from the match, allowing Rick Rude to slide into the ring and hit the Rude Awakening on Sting allowing Steve Williams to hit the Doctor Bomb on Sting for the 3 count as Terry Gordy and Luger fought on the outside at the 25 minute and 6 second mark.

Match Rating 68

Following the match Rude and Gordy continued to beat up Luger on the outside. Williams picked up Sting again to hit him with what looked like a second doctor bomb to be stopped by Ricky Steamboat sliding in the ring to a huge ovation. Steamboat and Williams traded punches for 20 seconds before Rick Rude and Gordy slide into the ring and attacked Steamboat from behind. Gordy and Williams pulled Steamboat to his feet and held him there allowing Rick Rude to hit the Rude Awakening on Steamboat. Monday, Week 3, March 1991

WCW News

Ted Turner officially ended the working relationship with NJPW and USWA. Turner is still furious over the refusal to share the talented needed for an upcoming storyline for more than 5 shows. Turner has sent offers to all talents who are currently working for both NJPW and WCW, written guaranteed contracts. Rumor has it that the Youngbloods have already declined written offers to stay with WCW. The State Patrol and Big Van Vader have been sent written contracts. Should be interested to see which side they fall on.

Besides those contracts, there is rumblings of whatever future storyline that caused to the rift between New Japan and WCW, is going to result in the signing of a surprising amount of new talent. No names have been mentioned yet, but the world is that contracts offers were sent out as soon as the New Japan deal was officially terminated.

Barry, you bastard! Attacking a defenseless Flair from behind! I will be interested in seeing where Arn decides to fall in all of this, or if he just keeps his nose completely out of it. Steamboat vs. Rude is one of my favorite feuds, so I can't wait to see how you play with that one. And I'm really liking the Pillman and Paul E. stuff, for a while there I thought we would see Brian turn heel and go with the Alliance but he's looking exceptionally white meat babyface after this past segment so it looks like Dangerously will need to send the boys after him.

Say it ain’t so, The Horsemen are breaking up? That is blasphemy in the highest. I was expecting Sid to become the 4th Horseman in the very near future. Hopefully Arn’s absence is just storyline and not that he is one of the 5 leaving.

My guess on some of the 5 were Stan Hansen, Dan Spivey, Beautiful Bobby, Norman and Steve Regal.

I like the diary and look forward to the next installment

Steiners - Doom are totally right in that the Steiners aren't paying them enough attention, but unless you plan on keeping Doom together, then the Steiner keep the belts.

Barry Windham - The Clash is a good place for Barry to pick up a win over Flair, by cheating of course, and they continue the feud into next month.

Luger/Steamboat/Sting - Steamboat picks up a win over Rude to put him directly in the title picture.
