"Golden Opportunity"

Location: In The Back (Earlier Today)
Duration: 2 minutes

Opening the show, footage will be played which will appear to be from a CCTV camera. Introducing the show over the images, the commentators will talk about what happened earlier tonight, and the effect it may have on tonight's Main Event. First the footage will show Chris Adonis in the back, where he will be seen to be jumped by several hooded figures.

Chris will be quickly assaulted, before he is dragged away. Next, another clip will be introduced, where Garza Jr. is seen in the locker room.

Garza Jr. will be attacked, by what appeared to be the same group of people. He will also be dragged away and out of shot.

Video Package: Straight out of the opening credits, footage will be played, designed to promote the night’s Main Event. An Impact World Championship match, featuring Alberto El Patron, Eli Drake and Champion Johnny Impact, the package for the Triple Threat match will see all the three men put over as credible challengers. Having got involved with Eli Drake’s rematch, we will see Alberto El Patron and LAX numbers game advantage, which resulted in Impact and Drake forming an unlikely alliance to combat them. This relationship of convenience wouldn’t last long however, as when the two men stood together in the ring, they were informed by Alberto El Patron that they would be opponents next week, in a match at would also feature Patron himself. (3 minutes)

Still yet to see the commentators introduce the show, the next scene will see LAX sat around a table in their “Club House”.

Konnan will be full of praise for LAX, telling them that taking risks wasn’t an option for tonight. Konnan will be delighted that the boys got their job done, because that makes their task tonight that much easier. Konnan will then get up, walking towards another area of the room. As he does, Chris Adonis and Garza Jr. will be seen to be tied to chairs in the room.

Konnan will walk behind the two men, informing his people that as long as they keep these two in sight tonight, then Alberto El Patron will walk out of the Main Event show as “our” Impact World Champion.

Coming out of the segment, the commentators will discuss what they had just saw, pointing out the distinct advantage that it gives Alberto El Patron ahead of the show’s Main Event!

Location: In-Ring
Duration: 7 minutes

Coming down to the ring, opening up to the audience, Sienna and KM will make their entrance. Presenting a united front, they will enter the six sides, and Sienna will take a microphone.

Talking about the fact that Crazzy Steve and Rosemary have got the better of them in recent weeks, Sienna will say that “those freaks” only think they’re in Sienna and KM’s heads. Sienna will say that it isn’t that at all, it’s just that they weren’t prepared for them. However, she will claim that if they ever come at them again, they’ll be more than ready to send them back to the circus. As Sienna finishes her sentence, the lights will go down and Crazzy Steve and Rosemary will make their way down to the ring.

Getting into KM & Sienna’s faces, it will be clear that Crazzy Steve and Rosemary are under their rival’s skin, despite what Sienna has had to say. Simply standing in front of them, Steve and Rosemary will manage to creep out their rivals with their bizarre and eccentric body language. KM will be the first to crack, and Sienna will eventually agree to follow him. As the pair leave up the ring, Rosemary will pick up Sienna’s microphone.

Addressing KM and Sienna as they walk up the ramp, Rosemary will say that the hivemind has been awoken and they are coming for KM and Sienna. Crazzy Steve will then take the microphone, telling KM & Sienna that they are ready for them, any time… anywhere!

Video Package: Footage will be played from Grado’s victory last week, followed by his dinner with Joseph Parks as way of celebration. During that dinner, Joseph Parks demanded that Grado let the “monster inside” out of him, starting with a match against Mayweather. (2 minutes)

Grado vs. Mayweather

With Mayweather taking control early on, the story of the match will be Grado’s struggle to keep up with him. On the outside, Joseph Parks will encourage Grado to break the rules, but due to his respect for Mayweather (and Wilcox who bites back at Parks on the outside), Grado will refuse. As a result, Grado misses the chance to hit Mayweather low, after Parks distracts the referee. Continuing to contest the match fairly, Grado will fall to a “Red Sky” as Mayweather secures the victory.

Left in the ring after his defeat, Grado will slowly bring himself back to his feet. Standing in front of him, a disappointed Joseph Parks will wait for him to meet his eye.

Parks will shake his head at Grado, calling him out on his performance. Joseph will tell Grado he is his boss, and if he doesn’t do what he says, he will be fired. Parks will remind Grado that being fired won’t just cost him money, but his US citizenship. Parks will grow angrier, telling Grado that he is on his final warning. Grado will tell Parks he’ll do whatever it takes to keep his job, and Parks tells him “you’ll have to.”

Joseph Parks will then leave the ring, pulling something from beneath the apron. Returning with a bag in his hand, Parks will remove to bag to reveal the nail covered 2x4 know as “Janice”. Parks will tell Grado that he will get a final chance to earn his freedom next week, but he will have to face his brother Abyss all over again. Parks will say that he has been asking Grado to reach inside and grab something, but next week he’ll have to reach up. Parks will say that the Monster’s Ball taught Grado nothing, but next week he will be forced to take the “Stairway to Janice”!

Heading over to a pre-recorded sit-down interview, Gail Kim will speak about her career in Impact Wrestling, and her final match next week.

Speaking freely in regards to her time in the company, including her record breaking 7 Knockouts Championship runs, focus towards the end of the interview will center around the Number One Contenders match tonight, and her final match next week. Gail will reiterate her desire to retire as the Knockouts Champion, saying that whoever it is who earns the right to face her, will be defeated next week.

Video Package: Footage will be played from last week’s Main Event, where Eddie Edwards scored a submission victory over Ethan Carter. Having been in control, Carter angered James Storm - who was stood at ringside - and as a result was distracted from the match. This allowed Edwards to lock in an Ankle Lock in the center of the ring, scoring a victory in the process. (2 minutes)

Duration: 7 minutes

Straight out of the video package, Ethan Carter’s music will begin to play, and he will make his way to the ring. It will be noted that as he walks down to ramp, Ethan will be holding the Grand Championship, a title we haven’t seen him carry since Bound For Glory.

Speaking about what happened last week, Ethan Carter will say that everybody saw with their own eyes what happened, and he has already exposed Eddie Edwards and James Storm for the Impact hating turncoats that they are. Laying his Championship down in front of him in the ring, Ethan Carter will say that in his quest to rebuild “Team Impact”, and to defend this company from those guys who have turned their back on the fans, Ethan Carter rediscovered “this”. The thing Ethan Carter will be referring to will be his Grand Championship. Ethan Carter will say that when this Championship was created, it was about competition and it was about ensuring that the best man won. Carter will declare that what everybody watches in the Main Event will be for the Impact World Championship, but as long as Carter has the Grand Championship, he knows he has the ability to outshine Johnny Impact and Alberto El Patron, week in and week out.

Ethan Carter will then pick his Championship up, placing it over his shoulder. Carter will say that this Championship is a symbol of his Impact Wrestling, and it will forever represent the battles that he has won, and the tribulations he has overcome. Ethan Carter will say that he isn’t just “a” Carter, he is Ethan Carter “... and Impact Wrestling needs me!”

As he completes that statement, the music of James Storm will begin to play, and he will make his way to the ring.

James Storm will confront Ethan Carter, who will immediately leave the ring, taking “refuge” on the ramp. Ethan will tell Storm “if you have something to say… you can say it from over there”. James Storm will reply that he has a lot to say, but he’d much prefer it if Carter joined him in the ring. Sceptical of what Storm has planned, Ethan Carter will turn down the invitation, and James Storm will continue. Storm will say that Ethan Carter wants to talk up the Grand Championship, but say that he hasn’t defended it in months. He will challenge Ethan Carter to face him one on one, and to put the Championship on the line.

Ethan Carter will reject the challenge, saying that the reason he has been unable to defend the Grand Championship, is because he has been too busy defending this company! He will say that first he had to save it from a AAA invasion, and now he has to save it from a couple of “Benedict Arnolds” in James Storm and Eddie Edwards. Ethan will add that in his Impact Wrestling, there will be no James Storm and as long as Storm is still here, Ethan Carter will never give him a shot at the Grand Championship! With that, Carter will exit up the ramp, leaving a frustrated James Storm in the ring.

After talk about the Impact World Championship match on commentary, Johnny Impact will be interviewed in the back.

Promoting the match, Johnny Impact will talk about the abduction of Garza Jr., saying that he knows what seeds Alberto El Patron and LAX are trying to plant. Impact will say that he and Eli Drake are going to need to keep their eyes on everything if they are to stand a chance in the Main Event. As Johnny Impact continues, he will be confronted by Eli Drake.

Eli Drake will tell Johnny Impact to hold on, adding that last week was a one off. Eli Drake will tell Johnny Impact not to expect any help from him tonight, because he’s approaching this match by treating both guys as equal threats to him regain the Championship that he beat Impact for on multiple occasions. Drake will say that as soon as he finds Chris Adonis, his plan will go into motion… and the title will be his.

Johnny and the interviewer will share a knowing look, and Johnny will call Eli back. Eli will ask Johnny what he wants, but Impact will shake his head, telling Drake “it’s nothing”. Eli Drake will then walk away, shaking his head at the Impact World Championship.

Heading back to the commentary table, Borash and Matthews will remind everyone of the fact that both Garza Jr. and Chris Adonis were ambushed and abducted earlier tonight, with Borash making light of the fact that Eli Drake appears to have no idea…

Video Package: Footage will show recent victories achieved by oVe and Reno SCUM. This will be used to promote a match later tonight, where new Number One Contenders to the Tag Team Championships will be named. (2 minutes)

Location: Ringside
Duration: 3 minutes

Making her entrance for the Knockouts Number One Contendership match, Allie will be jumped from behind by Taryn Terrell. Terrell will lay into Allie, throwing her shoulder first into the Steel Steps. Taryn will then lift Allie up, hitting her with a Cutter to the outside of the ring. This will lead to medical attention being required, and result in Allie being pulled from the upcoming match.

Alisha Edwards vs. Rosemary vs. Sienna vs. Taryn Terrell vs. Taya Valkyrie

This match will take place under over-the-top rope rules, with the winner being the final woman left stood in the ring. Alisha Edwards will be the first woman eliminated, followed by Rosemary managing to get rid of Taryn Terrell. Sienna will quickly look to remove Rosemary, but she will cling on. While the commentators talk up the rivalry between the two, things get heated. However, as the two women look to throw each other out, they will fail to spot Taya Valkyrie. As a result, they will both be thrown out of the ring, allowing Taya to earn another shot at Gail Kim’s Championship.

Following the match, the interviewer will enter the ring, looking for Taya’s reaction to her victory.

Taya Valkyrie will hype up Gail Kim’s retirement next week, calling it a huge moment in the history of the Knockouts Division. Taya will add that Gail Kim is the greatest Knockout in Impact Wrestling’s 16 years in existence, before vowing that next week will see Gail’s career end with complete humiliation!

Returning for the second hour, footage will be shown marked “Moments Ago”. Pulling up in the parking lot, Alberto El Patron will leave an expensive looking car.

Having arrived an hour into the show, an interviewer will approach Alberto El Patron, who will have nothing to say to the Impact Wrestling cameras.

Video Package: Footage will be shown, recapping Moose’s chase for one last match with Lashley. Having walked away from Impact Wrestling two months ago, Lashley has been repeatedly called out by Moose - unhappy with how their match at Bound For Glory went down. Proving unsuccessful, Moose last week gave a “final plea”, where he questioned Lashley as a father, asking him how his children would feel if they knew the tactics he used in the ring. Clearly having the desired effect, it was soon announced that Lashley would address Moose - via video link-up - on this week’s show! (3 minutes)

Location: American Top Team Facility
Duration: 4 minutes

Appearing as though Lashley is taking a break from his training to answer this challenge, he will be sat in front of an MMA cage on a Steel Chair. In the background, members of American Top Team will be seen sparring and training.

Responding to Moose, Lashley will begin in a calm manner, saying that before “all this” kicked off between them, he did have an ounce of respect for Moose. Lashley will say that he thought that he was one of the few men who could go toe to toe with him, but when they got up close and personal, he realised that Moose was s pathetic, desperate loser. Lashley will say that after he and his partner King Mo beat Moose and Stephan Bonnar at Bound For Glory, he felt like it was in everybodies best interests - especially Moose’s - they all move on. Lashley will add that he wanted to save Moose the embarrassment of going one on one with the “The Destroyer”.

Lashley will say that he was happy to walk away, leaving Moose to talk his trash, but then he listened to what Moose had to say last week. Growing more and more angry, Lashley will get heated when he responds to Moose’s words about Lashley as a father. Lashley will say that if he wants to question anybody it should be himself, telling Moose that he had no right to bring his family into it. Lashley will say that he was willing to stay away from Impact Wrestling, because he knows that he is capable of obliterating Moose and ending his career. Lashley will say that he didn’t want to do that, but last week… Moose changed that! Lashley will then begin to calm down, with an intense focus zoning in on the camera. Lashley will say that he was willing to walk away, he was willing to let Moose live, but not anymore. Lashley will then announce that he will be at Impact Wrestling next week… and he’s ready to face Moose one more more! Lashley will then look to walk away, before returning to tell Moose: “you just made the biggest mistake of your f[bleep]ing life. I’m coming for you Moose… and I’m coming alone!”

Heading straight over to the back, Moose will be seen watching a monitor. Having just had his challenge accepted by Lashley, Moose will have a huge smile on his face.

Moose will talk about how hard he has worked to get this match, and how nothing is going to stop him stealing the show next week. Moose will say that this is a match he’s been waiting on for months, and promises that next week, Lashley is going to learn to respect him.

Bahh & Bokara vs. oVe vs. Reno SCUM

With little build or story, the purpose of this match will simply be to show off oVe and Reno SCUM’s talents, at the expense of Bahh and Bokara. The two teams will then face off with each other, looking to take their biggest rival out. oVe will appear to get the better of Reno SCUM, and oVe will begin to close in on victory over Bahh and Bokara. However, after oVe hit the “Killing Spree” to Mario Bokara, they will fail to realise that Luster The Legend has made himself the legal man. As a result, he will be able to steal the victory, securing a Championship match next week.

Standing tall after their victory, Reno SCUM will celebrate in the middle of the ring! The commentators will talk about the threat of LAX next week, reminding the viewers that Reno SCUM have scored a victory over LAX in the past, but will have to do it in Championship action next week.

Location: LAX “Club House”
Duration: 2 minutes

Heading over to the “Club House”, LAX will react to the match that has just finished, with Konnan briefing his men and women.

Konnan will tell Ortiz and Santana, that next week they have to teach a lesson to Reno SCUM, saying that their pride is at stake if they don’t bring those Championships back to LAX. Konnan will add that they have to stay focussed on beating Reno SCUM next week, but tonight is a different story. Talking up the Main Event, Konnan will say that there is only one way to ensure things run smoothly tonight, and that is to make sure that they have eyes everywhere. Konnan will then lead the group out of the “Club House”, where they will pass the still tied up Garza Jr. and Chris Adonis.

Ortiz and Santana will place their hands on the heads of the pair, ensuring that they are facing Konnan. Konnan will tell Adonis and Garza not to worry, as soon as the Championship is back with the man it belongs to, he’s more than happy to set them free. Garza Jr. will then begin to struggle, attempting to escape, only to be hit in the face by Homicide. This will encourage Chris Adonis to stay still, obviously looking to avoid a repeat of Homicide’s actions.

Video Package: Footage from last week will show the beatdown Dezmond Xavier received from Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett and Caleb Konley, after the trio had taken out his allies Dutt and Williams earlier in the night. Having recently returned to Impact Wrestling, DJ Z’s save of Dezmond Xavier will then be shown, with the pair standing tall as Trevor Lee escaped unscathed. (2 minutes)

Location: On The Ramp
Duration: 3 minutes

Interviewed at the top of the ramp, DZ J will be asked about his actions last week, and his decision to pick a fight with Lee, Everett and Konley.

DJ Z will say that everybody knows that those three have the numbers advantage, but the only way to beat them is to fight fire with fire. Z will add that letting them do whatever they want might have saved him from a few run-ins, but after the year that DJ Z has had, it is time to take action into his own hands. As DJ Z looks to continue, he will be joined on the ramp by Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt.

The pair will offer support to DJ Z, praising him for his decision last week. Dutt will say that if more X Division Athletes looked to follow their lead, the division would be in much better shape. Williams will add “keep up the good work”, before the pair leave. Left on the ramp, it will be clear that DJ Z is somewhat confused by the interruption, but nonetheless shrugs it off.

Duration: 2 minutes

In the back, Allie will be seen in front of the Impact Wrestling cameras. Receiving treatment after she was attacked by Taryn Terrell earlier in the night, Allie will be fired up.

Showing a more aggressive side than she has shown in Impact before, Allie will say that she isn’t going to take it anymore! Allie will say that she has worked so hard since coming to this company, and she isn’t going to let Taryn Terrell - or anybody - destroy her dream. Allie will add that if Taryn Terrell doesn’t think she belongs, she needs to put her money where her mouth is. Allie will say that she is challenging Terrell to a match next week, where the loser leaves Impact Wrestling!

Video Package: Promoting the Main Event, a video package will follow the Impact World Championship scene throughout the last two months. The package should hit the following points:

Alberto El Patron’s alignment with LAX and adoption of their beliefs, as well as his insertion into the Eli Drake and Johnny Impact rivalry.
Eli Drake’s rematch being ruined by an LAX attack on Johnny Impact.
Eli Drake’s save of Johnny Impact, and his acceptance that he must work with the man who took his Championship in order to get a fair shot at the title.
The short lived alliance between Eli Drake and Johnny Impact, which was dissolved when Alberto El Patron announced the next Impact World Championship match would be a Triple Threat involving all three men. (3 minutes)

Johnny Impact © vs. Alberto El Patron vs. Eli Drake

Going into the contest, the fight will undoubtedly be every man for himself, with none of the competitors willing to form even temporary alliances with one another. The commentators will put over that which every way you look at the three men, they each have serious issues with both of their opponents. Throughout the match, the momentum will swing back and forth between the three men, and it will only be when LAX make their presence known that there will be a clear “favourite” for victory.

Looking to get involved in the match, LAX will make their way out to the ring at Alberto El Patron’s lowest moment. With Alberto on the outside, the group will get him back on his feet, before Homicide, Ortiz & Santana enter the ring. This will lead to Johnny Impact and Eli Drake working together once more, as they two of them fight off the trio. Causing LAX to retreat, Johnny Impact will follow this up with a dive to the outside, which will take the three men out. However, when Johnny Impact returns to his feet, he will be hit from behind with a Steel Chair by Konnan.

With Eli Drake now stood tall in the ring, the former Champion’s focus on Konnan - who will make it appear as though he is ready to get involved with Drake - will allow Alberto El Patron to jump him from behind. Taking control, Alberto El Patron will focus on the arm of Eli Drake, with a single goal in mind. Eventually, Alberto El Patron will be able to lock in the Cross Armbreaker in the middle of the ring, leaving Eli Drake with nowhere to go. However, after fighting off LAX on the outside - including a low blow to Konnan - Johnny Impact will climb up to the top rope, hitting an Impact Elbow which will connect with both competitors and break the submission attempt. Throwing Alberto El Patron out of the ring, Johnny Impact will drag Eli Drake back to the corner, hitting him with a Starship Pain. Impact will then pin Drake, allowing him to secure the victory.

Following recap footage of match highlights, Johnny Impact will be handed his Impact World Championship in the ring.

Celebrating on the top rope, Johnny Impact’s victory will be talked up, promoting the fact that he also managed to deal with LAX. The commentators will also discuss the fact that despite his victory, Johnny Impact pinning Eli Drake is only likely to add fuel to Alberto El Patron’s fire. The show will end with Johnny Impact standing tall on the top rope, with an image of Alberto El Patron and LAX lurking in the background. Watching on bitterly, Alberto’s will be the last face seen as the show goes off the air...

Impact Wrestling’s final episode of 2017 will see the company say farewell to a number of iconic figures, in what will go down as the end of an era within the company. In the show’s Main Event, former Triple Crown Champion Lashley will return to Impact Wrestling for one night only, going one on one with Moose. Having chased this match since the controversial ending to their Bound For Glory clash, where Lashley and King Mo scored a questionable victory, Moose knows that he has to leave everything in the ring to prove that he has what it takes to carry Impact Wrestling into a new era.

Another chapter will come to a close on this week’s show, as Gail Kim competes in her final match in her Professional Wrestling career. A record breaking Champion, who has dominated the Knockouts Division since her Impact Wrestling debut, Gail Kim has made it her priority to retire as the Knockouts Champion. Standing in her way will be one of 2017’s hottest newcomers, Taya Valkyrie.

Also on Impact Wrestling:<ul><li>Having been told that she “didn’t belong” by Taryn Terrell, Allie has done everything in her power to prove her wrong. After an attack, which took Allie out of a Number One Contendership match, Taryn Terrell was challenged to a one on one match - where the loser leaves Impact Wrestling. </li><li>Somebody else facing the prospect of leaving is Grado, who once again finds his future in the hands of Joseph Parks. As the relationship between the two became irreconcilable, Joseph Parks informed Grado he would have to face his brother Abyss again, with “Janice” hanging above the ring. If Grado wishes to retain his US citizen, he will have to somehow find a way to defeat “The Monster” Abyss. </li><li>Crazzy Steve returns to action, standing side by side with his former Decay partner Rosemary against KM & Sienna. </li><li>More Championship action, as LAX defend their titles against Reno SCUM.</li></ul>

Eventually, Grado will look to shock everybody, and will climb the Ladder to reach the nail covered 2x4 known as “Janice”. While Grado will successfully unhook “Janice”, Abyss will grab him by the throat, causing him to drop the 2x4. Abyss will then Chokeslam Grado - from about halfway up the Ladder - putting him through a Barbed Wire Board. Grado will roll around in pain, as Abyss approaches “Janice”.</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Abyss will pick “Janice” up, and will swing and miss Grado. Rolling out of the ring, Grado will run up the ramp. Once the two men appear behind the curtain, the whole tone of the match will change. Attempting to recreate an over the top, comedic horror film, Grado will run away from Abyss, eventually hiding in a room. When Grado turns the light on in the room, it will appear as though Grado has found himself in Abyss’ personal torture chamber. Entering the room after him, Abyss will take Grado out, before looking to tie his ankle and wrists to a large table in the room. Abyss will look to fasten the final restraint, telling Grado that he is going to shred him into a million piece. However, before Abyss can turn around, Janice will be driven into his back. Following the match, it was clear that El Patron and LAX were far from done with Johnny and his Championship. Feeling he has done in enough, in what to that point will have been a fairly one-sided match, Lashley will fail at an attempted Spear, allowing Moose a window of opportunity.</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The next part of the match will see Moose attempt comeback after comeback, with it appearing as if Lashley has taken just too much out of him already. However, through determination and an unwillingness to give in, a battle worn Moose will eventually come back into the match. Evening the odds, Moose will gain momentum of the match, setting up for his “Go To Hell” finisher. Eventually, Lashley will hit Moose will a Spear, covering the man who appeared ready to fill the void he will leave. Presented as a certain end to the match, the commentators will react in complete shock as Moose rolls his arm up at the last possible moment. Tentatively, Moose will extend his hand to Lashley, with the commentators putting over that personal feelings aside, a match like that ensures a mutual respect between the competitors. Accepting the handshake, the defeated Lashley will then raise Moose’s hand in the air, pointing at him as if to suggest he is now “the guy”. With the respect between the two men clear, Lashley will roll out of the ring, leaving Moose to lead the crowd in a chorus of chanting his name. Putting over the huge victory and the momentum this gives Moose going into 2018, Jeremy Borash will look to sign off the show. <div style="text-align:center;">Top Star Done With Impact; 6 others released!

Having promoted the last episode of 2017 as the “end of an era”, Impact Wrestling today announced departures from their roster, as they look to shake things up in 2018. Once again taping television from “north of the border”, it is believed the company has contacted several Canada based competitors to appear on the shows. As well as announcing the contract expiry of Lashley, the company have also confirmed the following names will not return to the company in the new year:

Fallah Bahh & Mario Bokara, Kongo Kong, Reno SCUM, Taryn Terrell

Gail Kim has also been removed from the “roster” page of the company’s website, following her retirement. The Knockouts Championship however still remains under her name, until it is officially relinquished on this week’s Impact Wrestling. In other news, it has been reported that James Storm has signed a restructured new deal with the company, that will keep him Impact for at least the next few months. Contrary recent speculation, James Storm will stay with the company, despite some concerns within the company that his best years are behind him and his demands are too high for the company’s current model. The decision was made after a meeting between management and creative, with a member of the creative team convincing the decision-makers that the current story being told between Storm and Carter needs to reach a conclusion before the "Impact Original" moves on.

”The Genesis”

Coming into the New Year, we are set for one of the most important weeks in recent Impact Wrestling history. With influential figures calling time on their careers last week, the Impact Wrestling roster will have the chance to “step up” and stake their claim as the new figureheads of the company. Going into this “new era”, the opportunity to stand at the top of the Impact Wrestling mountain will present itself to two men…

In the night’s Main Event, Johnny Impact will defend the Impact World Championship against Alberto El Patron. Since returning at Bound For Glory, Alberto El Patron has spoken out about his perceived ill-treatment at the hands of Impact Wrestling management. Stripped of the Championship in the Summer, for an incident he was later cleared of any fault in, Alberto El Patron returned to the company and formed an alliance with Konnan’s LAX. Feeling that he and his family were disrespected by Impact Wrestling, Alberto El Patron and co. have targeted anyone associated with the Impact World Championship. As 2018 begins, Alberto El Patron will compete in one on one World Championship action for the first time since July.

Elsewhere, Three Way X Division Tag Team action will open the show, while Moose will come off the back of his victory against Lashley by issuing an Open Challenge. We will also see the debut of Ethan Carter’s “Team Impact”, as he challenges Eddie Edwards and James Storm to face his “troops”, as he prepares them for a battle that he feels could shape the future of Impact Wrestling.<hr>

I didn't feel like Reno SCUM offered much, and I only gave them the NOC (which came after beating another team who were released) to give LAX a challenger to beat decisively going into the next challengers. Kong is somebody who I have never got behind. Watching him in real life, I am not a fan at all, and as such I didn't really want to book him. I agree I could have extracted more out of him - as I didn't really 'job him out' - but I just don't enjoy his character whatsoever.

Yeah, everybody on the roster is low. Without guys like Edwards/Ethan/Storm/Alberto/Johnny, the roster is basically interchangeable when it comes to ratings. Losing more of them would be a big problem, because the people who have gone and the people who have come in basically produce similar (extremely poor) ratings. The difference is that I see potential with the incomings to become better, whereas those who have left - and those who will leave - are basically as useful/useless as they'll ever be.

Grado is probably an exception, as I don't see a huge future for him, but he has somehow become a main event

But when there is nobody held accountable for what happens in this company, anarchy rules. Eli Drake will suggest that the lawless land that Impact Wrestling has become, is the sole reason that he isn’t stood here as Impact World Champion today. Drake will point out that the actions of LAX have sabotaged every shot he’s had to regain the title, and somehow Alberto El Patron has been given a World Championship match tonight. Drake understands that he is powerless to change that right now, and he doesn’t give a damn whether it’s Johnny Impact or Alberto El Patron holding the Championship. But Eli Drake will say that he is angry, he needs somebody to blame and there’s a whole lot of candidates to choose from. Pacing around the ring, a frantic Eli Drake will begin to point the finger at anybody and everybody. Pointing out to the crowd, he will say “I could blame the Impact Wrestling fans”, before pointing up the ramp and saying “I could blame the Impact Wrestling roster”. Pausing, Eli Drake will snap his fingers, as if another potential blamee has just come to his mind. Pointing to the announcer’s desk, Eli will say “I could blame Josh and Jeremy - the most dysfunctional duo since chalk met cheese”. Continuing to point his finger as he rants, Eli Drake will say that he could blame Impact Wrestling management. Adding “that would be a good call, right?” Eli Drake will then slow down and stop pacing around the ring, saying that he could blame all of those people, but he won’t. Appearing more reflective, Eli Drake will add that there is an individual to blame for him not being the Impact World Championship, saying “and I blame…” Looking out to the crowd, Eli Drake will sharply make a 180 degree turn, directing his finger towards the other man stood in the ring. With a furiously stern look on his face, Eli Drake will say “I blame you… Chris Adonis!” Reacting in complete shock, Chris Adonis will be taken aback by Drake’s accusation, asking him what the hell he means. Eli Drake will say that Chris Adonis has had one job since he came back to Impact Wrestling, and he has rode on the gravy train for too long! Drake will add that time after time, Chris Adonis failed him. Adonis’ mind will be boggled, as he continues to question Drake. Eli will ask him where he was at Bound For Glory and where he was when Eli Drake took his rematch. Adonis will say “I was right with you!” to which Eli Drake will ask, “and where were you, when LAX put me through hell?” Shaking his head, Chris Adonis will put his hands over his face, still disbelieving what Drake is saying. Eli Drake will continue to scald his former right hand man, calling him a “loser”, who has rode on Drake’s coattails for too long. Looking like a completely broken man, Chris Adonis will be continually berated by Eli Drake, until the former Champion tells him to get out of the ring. Adonis will finally stand up for himself at this point, flipping out and shoving Eli Drake backwards. Eli Drake will in turn throw a punch at Chris Adonis, which will be ducked. Locking Eli Drake in the Adonis Lock, Chris Adonis will appear to have completely lost in, hyperventilating as he squeezes the life out of his former partner. Konnan will say that she is going to pay for it, because he just has to say the word and within 24 hours there will be a missing persons report filed on her… and her husband. Following this threat, the shot will then cut to ringside, where Robert Irvine is shown in the front row. Konnan will say that nothing is going to happen to her husband, as long as she makes the right decision. Konnan will add that she can’t expect him to sit there and listen to her claim LAX isn’t strong enough to take this place over, when she has never had the guts to step in the ring with LAX. Still furious, Gail will go nose to nose with Diamante, still holding the Knockouts Championship. Looking to manipulate the audience and Gail, Konnan will ask “Toronto, Canada” if they wanna see Gail Kim in action one more time! Clearly torn, Gail Kim will say that she isn’t here to compete, she’s here to lay down the Knockouts Championship that means so much to her. Konnan will reply by putting his hand on her face and telling her that he understands. He will then turn to Homicide and tell him “take him away”. LAX will then grab Robert Irvine, with Gail telling them stop. Gail Kim will say that she will face Diamante, if it means they’ll back off from her husband. Konnan will say that there’s more to it than that, saying that Gail has “disrespected” his girls. Konnan will say that they don’t just want the match with Gail, they want a Knockouts Championship match. Calling out a referee, Gail Kim will relucantly agree to defend the Championship one last time. On commentary, Josh Matthews will be disgusted, suggesting that Diamante has done nothing to deserve the title shot. He will also take issue with Gail being forced to prolong her career, under the threat of violence towards her family. Konnan will then leave the ring, followed by Diamante. Gail Kim will be confused, as will the referee and the ring announcer. Now on the outside, Konnan will then add that he never said who the match would be against. It will then show footage of Bruce Pritchard’s announcement that Anthem had decided to strip El Patron of the Championship. A recap of Johnny Impact’s victory at Bound For Glory will lead to footage from the return of Alberto El Patron, and his decision to embrace the message of Konnan’s LAX - a message he had resisted before his suspension. Eventually leading to the three way Impact World Championship match two weeks ago, the package will show just how close Alberto came to making Eli Drake submit, before Johnny Impact returned to score the victory. The final part of the video package will show Alberto El Patron’s announcement last week, as he sat at home and informed the viewers that his one on one shot would come on the first episode of Impact Wrestling in 2018. Promoted as “The Genesis” of a new era in Impact Wrestling, the gravity of the match will be continually driven home, as the two men go all out to put on a show stealing performance. This will result in a back and forth, all action match, with the two men using their stylistic difference to tell the story of the contest.</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Eventually, the flash of Johnny Impact will become too much for Alberto El Patron, who will roll out of the ring and look to slow the pace of the match. This will play into the hands of El Patron, and while Impact’s athleticism will be useful when interacting with the Guardrailing and Steel Steps, the grittier approach adopted by Alberto El Patron will allow him to take control. The turning point that puts Alberto in the driver’s seat will see Johnny Impact jump off the guardrail towards him, only to be caught by El Patron and driven into the ringpost. El Patron will continue to target the right arm of Johnny Impact, wrapping it around the ringpost once more. At this point, the referee will look to come between the two competitors, calling for medical assistance. Refusing to allow this, Alberto El Patron will continue to punish Johnny Impact, placing his arm between the ring and the Steel Steps, before Dropkicking the steps into his arm. Rolling around in the pain, Johnny Impact will be lifted back into the ring.</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> From here, Alberto El Patron will look to seal the deal, coming close to locking in the Cross Armbreaker. One attempt, following a “Backstabber” to the arm, will see El Patron lock the hold in momentarily, but will prove too close to the ropes to secure the victory. Alberto El Patron will use the entirety of the referee’s five count, before releasing Impact, ensuring maximum damage is achieved. On commentary, a sense of inevitability will come over Jeremy and Josh, with it appearing only a matter of time before El Patron secures the win. However, Johnny Impact will show there is still life in him, valiantly fighting back against the man who has links with LAX. Using one arm, Johnny Impact will hold the other tight to his body, throwing punches at El Patron. Somehow avoiding El Patron’s offence, Impact will manage to take the challenger down, before deciding to climb the ropes with just one arm in operation.</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Standing on the top rope, Johnny Impact will look to hit the “Countdown To Impact” Elbow Drop, but El Patron will be able to join him on the turnbuckles, given the extra time it took him to reach the top. Alberto will set up for a Superplex, but Impact will refuse to release his arm. Showing desperation, Impact will headbutt El Patron several times in the chest, eventually dropping him to the mat. Johnny will then go for the “Impact Elbow” (smartly skipping the countdown part), only for Alberto El Patron to get his knees up at the last minute. This will cause Johnny’s injured arm to collide with El Patron’s knee. The commentators will say that Johnny had taken the ultimate risk, which unfortunately did not pay off.</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Back to the action, Alberto El Patron will react quickly, with suggestions made that he had been playing possum on the mat. Grabbing the arm of Impact, who will still be rolling around in pain, El Patron will forcefully lock in the Cross Armbreaker. Violently wrenching back on the severely injured arm of Johnny Impact, Alberto El Patron will scream out for Johnny to submit. While Impact will refuse to do so, the referee - who had earlier been concerned about Johnny’s ability to continue - will step in and come between the two men, acting similarly to how an MMA referee would in the same circumstances. Reflecting on a “huge night” in the timeline of Impact Wrestling, Jeremy Borash will admit that whether you like them or not, LAX and Alberto El Patron have swung the power balance in their favour tonight. An exasperated Borash will then be heard to sigh, and remove his headset. On last week’s monumental episode of Impact Wrestling, Alberto El Patron shocked the world, as he became the figurehead of a “New Era” in the company’s history. Ruthlessly effective, Alberto El Patron’s performance last week saw him become the new Impact World Champion, as the referee decided that Johnny Impact was in no condition to compete. Having seriously injured Johnny Impact, Alberto El Patron will this week address “his people”, having regained the Championship that he feels was “stolen” from him last summer.

But Alberto wasn’t the only new Champion in Impact last week, as his associates in LAX made their mark on Gail Kim’s retirement speech. Watching on from the front row, Gail’s husband Robert Irvine was threatened with physical violence by the group, unless Gail Kim agreed to defend her Knockouts Championship for one last time. With no choice but to agree, Gail Kim prepared herself for a match against Diamante, only to be informed that her opponent would instead be a debuting Ivelisse Velez. Catching the retiring Champion off guard, Ivelisse Velez made Gail Kim pass out, defeating her with a Guillotine Chokehold. This ensured that LAX held both the Tag Team Championships and the Knockouts title, to accompany the Impact World Championship of their close ally Alberto El Patron. As the show came to a close, Josh Matthews signed off, ominously declaring:

<div style="text-align:center;">“Tonight was the Genesis of a ‘New Era’ in Impact Wrestling. From the evidence tonight, this may just be the era… of LAX.”</div>

As well as the reaction to those events, this week’s show will see more Championship action, as Eddie Edwards defends the GHC Heavyweight Championship, against Pro-Wrestling NOAH representative Naomichi Marufuji. An all-time great in the company’s history, Marufuji will no doubt provide a difficult challenge for Eddie Edwards, as he looks to become a record-breaking 4 time GHC Heavyweight Champion. Representing both Impact Wrestling and Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Eddie Edwards will look - at least this week - to put his rivalry with Ethan Carter to one side, as he looks to continue his run as the first ever foreign-star to hold the GHC Heavyweight Championship!

The show will also feature Tag Team action, and an “X Division Showcase” between Garza Jr. and current Champion Matt Sydal. Perhaps most intriguing will be the in-ring debut of newcomer Brian Cage, who made his impact felt last week, coming to the aid of Eli Drake. Having claimed Chris Adonis was responsible for his failure to recapture the Impact World Championship, Eli Drake’s finger of blame pushed Chris Adonis too far, resulting in Drake becoming caught in the Adonis Lock. This appeared to be part of a carefully laid out plan, as Brian Cage made his debut, jumping Chris Adonis from behind. Taking out the man who he appears to have replaced as Eli Drake’s “right-hand man”, Brian Cage left Chris Adonis laying in the ring and carried Eli Drake over his shoulder to the back. Having confirmed his alliance with the former World Champion, the “destructive force” of Brian Cage will no doubt have put the entire Impact Wrestling roster on notice, as they prepare for a landmark period in the history of the company.
