Help! Crazy Owner Goal threatens great save!

Recommended Posts

Okay so I'm trying to do a variation of the Road to Glory where I combine it with the 0-0-0-0 challenge and attempt to take FOUR created characters to A* from scratch without ever changing companies.

I was doing great for several years, until I hit Regional. Then I got a new Owner Goal that is threatening my save altogether due to being (I think) impossible to pull off.

Basically, the owner wants me to take my company from just barely hitting Regional to Cult within 2 years.

The heck? I don't believe this is even possible. I don't even qualify for television yet, and I'm running two shows a month to balance my finances (he also doesn't want me losing any money). It took me four years just to get ONE region to Regional by running three shows a month for the first two years and two shows a month the next two, so getting another well beyond it in half the time while also getting my home area there... This feels like an outrageous slap to the face after all the hard work I put into this save. Is there anything I can do, or is this Game Over?

The first solution that comes to mind is to turn off Owner Goals, skip a day and then turn them back on if you want some different Goals. That may be considered cheating, though.

I'd go broke if I did that though. Economy is now E- because of multiple terrorist attacks (year is 2002 ACK). My profit monthly is about $20,000, and that's only because of merch due to one of my created characters suddenly getting a movie role and jumping from an unknown to B pop worldwide (he gained the pop upon being announced for the role, he's still off making the movie, this was a crazy and cool event).

I suppose I could try for a month and see what happens, but I worry I'd oversaturate and run out of matches if I did (repetitive booking penalties are on). I could try though. I mean I have D- Importance in Great Lakes (home) and E- Importance in Mid Atlantic (spillover). Shows are usuallly coming up C or C+.

Do you think it would work? For real? I worry about taking that big a chance due to the "don't lose money" Owner Goal. And the biggest worry is the repetitive booking of course. I am trying not to cheat. So hard. *pulling hair out*

This. If you are not having fun with your goals you can always change them. Let's be honest, some of them are ridiculous. How do I keep a guy above 77 momentum? All it takes is one botched promo or a bad match and it plummets. You can always fail that goal if you make sure to achieve the others.

Yeah I had another impossible owner goal but I survived it because of only High importance (the owner got injured by the Sandman and wanted him to gain no popularity anywhere at all for two years, which I failed immediately). Alas, this one is Critical.

Ugh, wish I coulda done it without cheating. Though I'll still try the "more shows" thing, because IF I can do it financially, no reason to cheat. I still have 1 year and 7 months at least to decide. Thanks all, mates.

<p>Weekly shows in your home region. Someone here suggested that to me, and provided you're not putting on terrible events, you'll make money and increase pop. Once you've got enough bank, make your own broadcaster. Also, don't forget the custom merchandise settings. That will help keep you in the black, and, as more of your talent gets over, the revenue there increases as well.</p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: In fact, this strategy works so well, that halfway through my second year with AAA on my current save I'm winning regional battles in the Mid-South and I've never even done a show there.</p>

Custom merchandise settings, eh? Is there any place I could find a tutorial on that? Right now I'm using Conservative, though I do feel there is something I could be doing with the sudden movie star that went for unknown to B popularity worldwide in terms of merch. I just uh, ashamed to say, don't quite know how. <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Then, click Custom Controls. That will take you to a screen with your entire roster. Click the boxes for what merch you want for that superstar (I just click everyone), and then set how hard you want that merch pushed for that superstar. Main Eventers should get Very High, Upper Midcarders High, Midcarders Medium, and so on.</p>

You'll probably want to go with Tiny or Very Small; not a HUGE expenditure (and, provided the owner goal is "Increase to X Amount of Dollars Before Time Expires" rather than "Can Not Fall Into Debt At Any Point", you might be able to swing it if you're a few million short, provided you pick anything other than Free To Air to recoup what you'll accumulate in debt), the TV coverage means you can grow pop in other regions without actually going the there. Combine that with spillover, and you should manage it. Even if you don't, you CAN fail one critical goal without getting fired, provided you're doing well at other areas.</p>

I previously fell to a very low point just for failing a Medium goal (though fully recovered now at Excellent), so I thought that failing even one Critical would mean game over. Thanks!</p><p> </p><p> Unfortunately I can't afford to go 10 million in debt. Maybe I'll just target the Mid South instead. No other members there. It'll take more shows but I wanna play this as legit as I can. Thanks all!</p><p> </p><p> Update: I just qualified for TV in my home region, so I think I'll produce the TV shows from Mid South to hit both at the same time. Looks like my Season Finale for 2002 did me some real good!</p>
