The Journal Of: Eric Bischoff

I retired the Cruiser title way back earlier in my game. I'll have to look and see exactly when I did, but it may be further back in this dynasty. This is all one game and I haven't restarted it. It's a 1997 mod and is now 2002 in the game.

Not a fan of the Cruiserweight Division or the championship itself? Just curious.

<p>I was a fan of the title and the division, however, later in the game I feel like it gets pretty stagnant as far as stories and workers. It never takes me long before I'm doing the same matches. I also feel like it limits the guys involved with it too much. It's tough for me to put someone with the Cruiserweight title and integrate them into the heavier divisions. I retired the title in 1999 after doing a storyline involving one hurrah involving the title. I had past and present champions and names involved in one last battle with it. Rey Jr won the title and retired it, which I thought was appropriate.</p><p> </p><p> I then usually take those guys and put them in the TV title division.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Thunder2002_zpsvarypq1o.jpg</span><p> <span style="font-family:'Arial Black';"><span style="font-size:18px;">Thunder Preview!</span></span></p><p> </p><p> We're gearing up for the first official broadcast on the new WCW Network and embarking on the launch of the new Eric Bischoff era in WCW! <p>Thank you for the predictions and I'm sure there will be a period of time that I will need to prove myself and this dynasty to have people climb aboard for the ride. Hopefully things get people interested quickly as I'm having a lot of fun in this game!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Thunder2002_zpsjq4wblox.jpg</span><p> <strong>AR Pine Bluff Center Hall</strong></p><p><strong> Thursday Week 3, July 2002</strong></p><p><strong> Attendance: 2,000 (Sell out!)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <em>Thunder kicks off on the brand new WCW Network and viewers may notice there's a bit more pomp and circumstance to the start of this week's Thunder broadcast. Lots of fireworks go off and there is a brief introduction to the show by lead announcer Joey Styles (who has been employed with WCW since February 2000), and familiar commentator, Dusty Rhodes. They can't get much more than a welcome in, however, as red lights flash and a siren hits, followed by </em>"HOLLA, IF YOU HEAR ME!!"</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Scott%20Steiner%207_zpsxkgqcgsq.jpg</span></p><p> The 3-time World Heavyweight Champion comes out to many cheers from the crowd with the World title strapped around his waist. Everyone knows the champion means business as he pauses just for a second on the ramp to flex his huge bicep into the camera before heading to the ring. Steiner steps through the ropes and takes a microphone out from tucked in the belt and says to "<strong>Cut the music!</strong>" The Big Bad Booty Daddy first takes a quick survey to see how many Hooches in Arkansas came to see the Big Dipper, which garners many screams from the crowd. After being satisfied with the result, Steiner informs all those watching at home to not adjust their dial, because he does look this good!!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The World Champion then turns to more serious business, and that's some newcomer to WCW who's been nothing but a pain in his ass since arriving; The Rock. Steiner tells the rock that he beat him fair and square back at the Great American Bash, but he just doesn't seem to get it. He tells the Rock that just because he used to be a big deal where he came from, he has to start from the bottom-up in WCW and prove himself to be worthy to not only the World Championship, but to even stand in the same ring with the finest body in WCW today. Steiner says if the Rock is up for one more beating at the Bash at the Beach, he figures he can take time out of his busy schedule pushin' Freaks to beat The Rock's ass one more time!!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The crowd cheers for Steiners challenge and it doesn't take long before </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>COOOOOOOOOOOOKIN'</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/The%20Rock%2099_zps914cyznh.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Is heard through the loudspeakers and the Rock's music plays. A buzz comes over the crowd but they're still firmly behind the World Champion. The Rock comes walking out looking dressed to the 9's. His expensive shirt remains unbuttoned in the front and the Rock has a microphone in hand, ready to reply to the challenge. The Rock raises his head up to take in the crowd but his eyes remain shielded behind his sunglasses. After the music quiets, the Rock takes another second to look out to the sea of fans before getting a disgusted look on his face.</p><p> </p><p> The Rock says how he hasn't been impressed so far with WCW or their fans simply due to the treatment he's received so far since arriving in WCW. The Rock says he'd have been better off taking the millions..........He could have received in Hollywood and stayed out there with stars and fame rather than having to visit dumps like Arkansas, where people consider having more than 3 teeth and marrying your 2nd cousin a success.</p><p> </p><p> And then there's people like Scott Steiner that he has to deal with. A guy, The Rock says, who's so inflated with steroids that he can't even bend over to wipe his own ass. The Rock then digresses into a thought of just who he has wipe his ass. Is it paid help, a manager, or his brother?? Rock says it doesn't matter who wipes his ass, because after the Bash at the Beach, he's going to need to hire someone that can put his ass back together after he destroys it!!!</p><p> </p><p> Wait a minute....The Rock looks sideways after that comment, knowing it didn't come off the way he wanted it to sound. The crowd quickly begin to taunt him as well. Rock does his best to yell out at the fans and voice his displeasure. The Rock lastly tells Scott Steiner to enjoy the next week and a half because at the Bash at the Beach, he's going to take that title and show WCW what a real champion looks like!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Joey%20Styles%202k6_zpswrwcmkvm.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Dusty%20Rhodes%203_zpskczpriid.jpg</span></p><p> Joey Styles and Dusty Rhodes then are able to give a proper introduction to the new and improved WCW Thunder. They mention how WCW is now under new ownership and familiar name, Eric Bischoff. Without being under the Turner umbrella for the first time since the late 1980's, they expect many things to change. They give a recent run-down of happenings and goings-on in WCW;</p><p> </p><p> - The recent confrontations between newcomer John Cena and the Warrior</p><p> </p><p> - Brock Lesnar recently attacking Bret Hart</p><p> </p><p> - Tag title scene heating up between West Texas Rednecks and Dudley Boys</p><p> </p><p> - Sting continuing his dark ways (AI had turned Sting heel following Bischoff's departure in 2000)</p><p> </p><p> They also take a bit of time to hype the next match featuring two young upcoming teams; The Outlaws vs Jindrak/O'Haire</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Chris%20Harris%202k2_zps1df7syqm.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/James%20Storm%202k2_zpsjhrkoqew.jpg</span> <strong>vs</strong> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Mark%20Jindrak_zps8ws4xpq3.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Sean%20Ohaire%202_zps4ycab8ps.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> These two teams kicked off the new era and if it's what is to be expected of in this WCW, we'll be in for fast-paced, exciting action. Both teams looked strong in this opener and had the crowd into it early. What they lack in experience was made up for with exciting action in and out of the ring. While Jindrak and O'Haire proved to be more agile, The Outlaws held their own which indicates both teams should make huge waves in the tag team division. It's apparent that this new era will also welcome a resurgence of the division. Jindrak and O'Haire picked up the win after Jindrak hit the Mark of Perfection on James Storm in a solid opening bout.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: Jindrak/O'Haire</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: C-</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/John%20Kronus%204_zpsmvrlwq5b.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Hugh%20Morrus%202_zpskpzfcaty.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Hugh Morrus and John Kronus are up next in what was another surprisingly solid matchup. Hugh Morrus took to Kronus with physical shots but he was able to absorb many of them, something Morrus is not accustomed to with his opponents. Kronus delivered his own shots as well and the two had a good back and forth brawl. Morrus ended up the victor in this match with the No Laughing Matter moonsault, but Kronus also came out of it looking pretty solid.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: Hugh Morrus</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: C+</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Following the solid matchup, we're taken backstage where Mean Gene Okerlund is standing. Douglas is grinning from ear to ear and dressed in a suit. The TV Championship is folded and cradled in his arms. Douglas goes on to say that he will become the greatest Television champion in history and furthermore, he will go on to become the longest reigning Television champion. Douglas fails to see anyone within WCW that has the caliber to keep up with him, much less beat him for this prestigious title belt. While he has the utmost confidence in his abilities, he welcomes anyone to step up to the plate to "challenge" him.</p><p> <strong>Rating: B</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Tony%20Schiavone%203_zpsi37chcgo.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Rather than go back to the ring for continued action, we're taken to another spot backstage that is set up for interviews. Tony mentions that Warrior has been in WCW for awhile and wants to know what mark he's going to make. He answers that there is but one question to ask; What mark <em>doesn't</em> a Waarrriaaahhhh make when they step into the center of battle??? Shiavone takes that as his que to change the subject and touches on matters with a wrestler relatively new to WCW; John Cena, as there's been recent conflicts between the two lately. Warrior starts to field the question when out of nowhere Warrior is blindsided by none other than -</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/John%20Cena%202k2_zpsdz0ujkqy.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The rookie makes sure to hit the legend with heavy forearm shots to the back and when the Warrior's down, throws in a few kicks and stomps. His opponent is yet another new face to the WCW crowd, Brock Lesnar, who Joey Styles lets everyone know is a former amateur wrestler and NCAA champion with Wisconsin. Dusty and Styles spend Lesnar's entrance talking about exciting a potential matchup between Lesnar and World Champion Scott Steiner would be. The match doesn't last long at all though once Lesnar gets in the ring. A quick scoop powerslam gets the pinfall and win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: Brock Lesnar</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B-</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Raven%206_zpsatwuioka.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Bobby%20Roode_zps9bjspofj.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> There have been a ton of new faces being shown so far on Thunder and this next match is no exception. Bobby Roode has been around in WCW for awhile, but up until this point he's never really been given an opportunity to showcase his talent. By putting him in with a worker like Raven, it's clear to see that Roode has something special. Throughout the match, Roode made typical young-wrestler mistakes that Raven made sure to take advantage of. During parts of the match, Raven would claim that he's "educating" Roode. This was another very solid match for this edition of Thunder, which saw Raven put Roode away with the Evenflow DDT.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: Raven</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Ernest%20Miller%203_zps4vhbstz1.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/AJ%20Styles%204_zps9bbt5wdm.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Another match that seems to feature the old era of WCW against the new era of WCW. What people don't realize is that Styles has been around in WCW since 1999, but hasn't really started to catch fire until this year. While the Cat is certainly quick, hence his nickname, AJ Styles managed to make Miller look slow in this match. There were a ton of kicks, strikes, and high-flying maneuvers that continued to keep the fans interested in this match. AJ Styles pulled out the impressive win after hitting the Cat with the Styles Clash.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: AJ Styles</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Hulk_Hogan29_zpsujzwwcca.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Now we get a break in the action where cameras go backstage, seeing Hollywood Hogan walking through the backstage area. TJ Wilson, a Hart Dungeon trainee, goes up another Canadian in Chris Jericho. This is a solid contest that brings out the best in the younger Wilson but Jericho employs plenty of cheap tactics to hold the advantage, even though he probably doesn't need it. Jericho hits a bodyslam on Wilson and then goes for the pin by putting a boot on his chest and flexing. The count doesn't even get a one but it does light a fire under Wilson who responds with a flurried assault which nearly sees an upset win. The shock gets Jericho to take the match seriously for a change as he collects himself outside of the ring before continuing. The second half of the match see's a bit more of a focused Jericho who doesn't play around nearly as much. Jericho hits his Lionsault perfectly that gets a near fall. Wilson sees himself roll out to the apron and stands himself up while Jericho is busy arguing with the referee over his counting speed. Jericho turns to see Wilson springboarding off the top rope but Jericho catches his legs and Wilson crashes down onto the mat. Jericho then quickly locks Wilson into the Liontamer and looks to be bending him in half before Wilson finally had enough and taps out.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: Chris Jericho</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Joey Styles and Dusty Rhodes then begin the close of the show, only to stop mid sentence and say there's an event taking place in the back. Cameras rush to go backstage where they catch Brock Lesnar leaving.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Brock%20Lesnar%201_zpsfjyijfw6.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Lesnar is walking through the hall with his bag slung over his shoulder. Something catches his attention though and another person finally comes into view.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Diamond%20Dallas%20Page%202_zpsxwxejhtw.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Lesnar barely slows his walk as he hits his shoulder into DDP as he walks by. DDP won't have any of it though and says something to Lesnar, who then exchanges words back. Lesnar tosses his bag at DDP to distract him and then unleashes an assault. He tosses DDP into the wall and then tosses him into the opposite hallway wall. Lesnar gives DDP a few stomps as he's down on the cold cement floor and then he picks him up and powerbombs him onto a nearby crate. Lesnar smirks for a second as DDP rolls in agony. Thunder fades to a close with the image of a broken and battered DDP.</p><p> <strong>Rating: A*</strong></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Overall Show Grade: B+</strong></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote></div><p></p>

I have got to make sure I keep whatever talent I have and make a priority to continue to feature new, young workers in the event I lose someone very valuable. Another thing we have to seriously consider is a change in our figurehead. Hulk Hogan still remains one of the most popular workers in the world, but he isn't going to be around forever. The cameras pan the sold-out arena before being taken to the announce booth where Joey Styles and Dusty Rhodes are seated, welcoming everyone to this week's Nitro. Joey reminds everyone that we are less than a week away from the groundbreaking Bash at the Beach Pay Per View and Dusty ensures everyone that it will be a knock down, drag out brawl BABAYYY! There's a brief run-down of the night, including tonight's main event of Sting vs Lex Luger. Styles tells everyone that Sting has seemed very conflicted over the recent weeks and Lex Luger has been doing his best to steer him in the right direction, though it just doesn't seem to work for the Stinger. The fans voice their displeasure while the Rock walks out onto the stage, dressed classy as always. Rock sniffs the air and visibly shows his disgust for this crowd also before making his way to the ring, microphone visible in his back pocket. The Rock climbs the ropes before entering the ring to taunt out to the crowd amid thousands of flash-bulbs. He climbs in the ring and proceeds to let everyone know that they are a mere 6 days away before they finally get to experience a REAL champion in WCW. He says that WCW has tried so hard to find a true champion, a true man of the people, a true role model for all the young kids, and a real athlete. He says, despite his respect for Hollywood Hogan and much in comparison, WCW will once again be turned onto its top when he becomes world champion this Sunday and he will make an even bigger impact than Hogan did! This of course doesn't sit well with the crowd, even through their dislike for Hollywood Hogan. The Rock takes a second to smirk and then says that he finds it ironic that WCW can't even find a credible champion within their own company and that, like Hogan, they have to find REAL champions from New York! Rock finishes his promo by giving everyone the phone number to call and order the show because this Sunday is going to be must-see television with Big Poppa Pump getting knocked on his ass!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Rating: A*</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/TJ%20Wilson_zpsp8kwqe4x.jpg</span> <strong>vs</strong> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/John%20Cena%202k2_zpsdz0ujkqy.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> </p><p> - Nitro's first match of the night certainly did it's job to get the crowd on their feet and excited. There was no lost step following the Rock's opening segment as young stars TJ Wilson and John Cena go head to head. The announce booth did a good job of highlighting Wilson's match against Jericho this past week on Thunder and think he should fare quite well against Cena. It remained an even, close matchup and Wilson did seem to be one step ahead of Cena along the way, but Cena was able to gain back control by a few.....Less than honest behaviors. The crowd ate it up as Cena did his best at trying to look innocent. Wilson turned the tide and mounted a good comeback and had the crowd on the edge of their seat until a blatant low blow dropped him. Of course, this was while the referee's back was turned so there was no disqualification. With Wilson's momentum effective stopped dead in its tracks, Cena took the opportunity to hit him with his Spin-Out Powerbomb to pick up the win!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: John Cena</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Rating: B-</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Sean%20Ohaire%202_zps4ycab8ps.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Mark%20Jindrak_zps8ws4xpq3.jpg</span> <strong>vs</strong> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Steve%20Armstrong%202k1_zpsxjofcsdj.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Tracy%20Smothers%202_zps8cbsmb0k.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> - The action doesn't stop as Nitro goes straight into its next match of the night. The young, promising team of Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire take on the veteran tag team the Southern Boys, Steve Armstrong and Tracy Smothers. This match was interesting because even though they are the much younger, inexperience team, Jindrak and O'Haire moved with just as much fluidity as Smothers and Armstrong, making it look like they've been teaming together for years. What the Southern Boys lacked in their agility and swiftness, they made up for with psychology and ability to control the match. Quite a few times Smothers and Armstrong were able to capitalize on a mistake made by either Jindrak or O'Haire and slow the match down to their pace. They also traded quick tags and isolated the younger workers to their side of the ring, essentially cutting the ring in half, as Dusty commented. The crowd seemed to be behind both teams as it was a good, close, competitive matchup, but the longer the match, the more they got behind Jindrak and O'Haire, if not just due to their flashier moves. O'Haire ended up wowing the crowd when he hit his patented "Seanton Bomb" on Steve Armstrong to pick up the impressive win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: Sean O'Haire/Mark Jindrak</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Rating: C-</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><strong><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Looking For An Impact!</span></span></span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Paul%20Heyman%202k2_zpsuhk8h5zv.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Brock%20Lesnar%201_zpsfjyijfw6.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> - Nitro gets its first break from in-ring action, but cameras remain ringside as music hits and out walks Paul Heyman with his client, Brock Lesnar. Announcers can't get over just how huge and intimidating Lesnar is and for being so new to wrestling, they point out how quickly he's gaining steam. </p><p> Dusty predicts he will have a faster rise than Goldberg had and they ponder a moment if there's even anyone in WCW who can beat this man. Heyman and Lesnar climb in the ring and Paul E. has his microphone. He reiterates what Dusty and Styles were telling everyone at home and that's the simple fact that Brock Lesnar is taking the wrestling scene by storm and that there's only one thing people can do; Get out of his way. Heyman promises that if people don't get out of his way then Lesnar will have no choice but to run them over like an out of control freight train......The only difference is an out of control freight train is just that...Out of control. Unlike Brock Lesnar who is in control, at ALL TIMES! Heyman then takes a moment to mention one such man who will not get out of Lesnar's way, so he will have no choice but to confront him head on...He says this man is looking at a monstrous freight train coming straight at him head on and there's no time to move out of the way. The man who apparently has a death wish is none other than the "Best there is, Best there was, Best there ever will be; Bret "Hitman" Hart. Heyman laughs and says it's ironic how Bret's nickname is "Hitman" because if there's anyone like a Hitman that's being sent out to do dirty work, it's the man standing next to him, Brock Lesnar! Heyman tells Bret Hart that he requests his presence out here right now because he has a proposition for him and one that can only be made face to face!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Bret%20Hart%202_zpshtvgq2pq.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The crowd buzzes with anticipation but don't have to wait long though as music plays and out walks Bret Hart. The Hitman looks pretty confident as he walks out in his street clothes and leather jacket and goes straight to the ring. Hart climbs in and walks straight up to the duo that's already in the ring. Hart tells them that they've done their best to intimidate the locker room but they made a mistake by targeting the Excellence of Execution first thing. Hart says that while Lesnar may be an accomplished amateur wrestler at the collegiate level, no one has been able to even touch his accomplishments in wrestling for over 15 years. Hart says that he is without a doubt the best technical wrestler today!</p><p> </p><p> Heyman snickers and says while that may be true, Brock Lesnar is a BEAST! Heyman then proposes that Hart put his title of "Best there is, was, and ever will be" on the line and face Brock Lesnar at Bash at the Beach!! The crowd clearly likes the offer and the Hitman doesn't waste any time accepting it, but no sooner than he says "You're on!", he gets blindsided from a vicious clothesline to the back of the neck by Lesnar. While Heyman had Hart's attention with the challenge, he didn't notice Lesnar slowly sneaking behind him to set up the attack. Lesnar lays in boots to the downed Hitman before picking him up and hitting a huge overhead belly to belly suplex. Dusty comments that Lesnar threw him so hard and effortless that Hart looked like a stuffed animal being launched. The rabid crowd boo's Lesnar and Heyman as they look down, pleased at the result. Lesnar laughs while Heyman gloats.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Rating: B+</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Nitro takes a brief commercial break and comes back to the bottom of the ramp stage where Mean Gene is standing by.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Gene%20Okerlund%202_zpsmqlmns6w.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> - Gene welcomes us all back to WCW Monday Nitro and says that his next guest is on the way to stardom here in WCW and he's letting people know it. Styles responds that eventually he wants to be ahead of it all. Styles says he has the talent, drive, and determination to get there, but first things first. He says he doesn't want to be given anything in WCW but rather earn it, and he'll do that by going up against anyone, any time. Gene hypes up Style's upcoming match this Saturday Night against the extremely talented and able Canadian, Lance Storm. Styles says this Saturday will be a perfect opportunity to showcase to the entire world just how "Phenominal" AJ Styles is and warns Lance Storm not to look past him, because if he does, that will be his fatal flaw. As Styles is responding to Gene, a rumbling begins to occur in the crowd. Heads are seen turning and people begin pointing. Cameras focus back to Gene and AJ Styles. Styles mentions Sting and remarks that he's noticed the battle lately that Sting appears to be having. Styles even goes so far to compare himself to Sting. Styles says they're both gifted athletes and everywhere he goes, people say how much of Sting they see in AJ Styles. Styles goes on to say that they're both very religious and Styles may understand the battle that Sting's having within himself. Styles says he'll be willing to help Sting in any way he needs and closes out the interview by telling Sting to fight the battle. Moved up from WCW's developmental roster in 2001, Claudio hasn't seen much in the way of action or success, but Styles mentions that with his ability, it's only a matter of time before he catches fire in Eric Bischoff's WCW. Styles actually points out that Claudio actually has only one singles victory since moving up, and that is against Mike Sanders back in the last week of June this year. His opponent, Justin Credible, has actually fared much better and, Styles mentions, held the Television title for a period of time back in 2001. Credible is actually coming back from a period of inactivity, Styles explains, having been off television from December 2001 to March 2002. In either case, both of these men put on a pretty good match that keeps the fans entertained throughout. Claudio, called "Double C" quite often, hits a series of European uppercuts to stun Credible. He also uses several power moves while showcasing his aerial ability as well. Bottom line, Claudio shows his everything he's capable of in this match, presumably to get the eye of Eric Bischoff. He picks up the win after hitting a piledriver on Credible.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Claudio Castagnoli</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: C</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">A Brawl, and It's Not Even Fall Yet!</span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Curt%20Hennig20_zpsxashytxi.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Barry%20Windham_zpsj74jnj1s.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/D-Von%202002_zpsobmpuyu1.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Bubba%20Ray%202002_zpsbfvvaxdx.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> - WCW appears to be the place where the action never stops as when Joey Styles and Dusty Rhodes are trying to recap the night so far, cameras abruptly are taken backstage where the tag team champions West Texas Rednecks are brawling it out with newfound rivals the Dudley Boys. All hell is breaking loose as officials do their best to separate the teams but they keep going at it. No one seems to have any idea what caused these two teams to start fighting with each other, but they use everything at their disposal in the backstage area. Chairs, tables, walls, rolling crates, brooms, chains, anything but the kitchen sink, Dusty yells! Bubba Ray even was able to find a bicycle backstage which had an exasperated Dusty yelling "HE'S GOTTA BAHSICKLE!!!! WHERE THE HELL'D HE GET THAT FROM?!? Styles says that at one point Rick Rude even captured the WCW World Heavyweight title during that feud and went on to lose it to Bret Hart later that year. Dusty says that Flair has always been the dirtiest player in the game without taking a break. Judging by the quality of the match, both of these men look to continue going strong as well. This was a typical old school match that you would expect from the two. Flair, despite being a solid fan favorite, used his dirty tactics to his advantage but also seemed to meet his match by Rick Rude, who was more than capable of using his own cheating ways. In the end, Flair was able to pick up what is still considered a big win by getting Rude to tap out to the Figure 4!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Ric Flair</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Warrior%207_zpszqmfbg51.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> - Focus moves toward what can only be considered the final promo of the evening, as it is approaching time for the main event. After Warrior feels enough electricity has entered his veins, he begins to tell the crowd that while there may be one true Warrior, a warrior is nothing without it's heart, which is the fans! Cena then begins to pull up old magazines that featured Warrior through his career. TV Guide, Reader's Digest, old WWF magazines that have all WWF identifying names blurred out. Cena goes on to say how old he was during each of these walks down memory lane. Cena thinks that you either upgrade with the times, or get lost in time and Warrior's day and time has obviously gone. Joey Styles and Dusty Rhodes digress into never thinking they would be involved in a match where Lex Luger would be getting cheered and Sting would be boo'ed. The match begins with Lex attempting to speak some reasoning to Sting, who, Styles reminds everyone they are, or were, best friends. After a couple minutes of attempted pleas by Luger, Sting delivers a swift kick to the gut that doubles over the Total Package. From then, the match takes off. Sting uses his speed and quick strikes to keep Luger off balance. After a couple of clotheslines, Sting goes for a pin attempt. When that only gets a 2 count, Sting decides to have words for the referee, taking away his attention. This gives Luger an opportunity to catch some wind and mount a comeback. Luger manages to hit several power moves and a really good looking powerslam that nearly gets a three count. Luger continues the attack and brings Sting into the corner, delivering a 10 count that the crowd loudly chants along with. Sting stumbles out of the corner and Luger signals for the Torture Rack. The crowd's on their feet and ready to see it but Sting has managed to tangle himself up with the referee, delaying Luger from getting his hands on him. Luger moves the referee, only to get hit with a low blow. As he doubles over with pain and the referee oblivious to it all, Sting quickly hits Luger with the DeathDrop and gets the three count. Sting quickly exits the ring and doesn't wait on Luger to get back up to his feet as Styles and Rhodes sign off and tell everyone to tune in to Thunder this week!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Sting</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Final Show Grade: A</strong></p><p> TV Ratings: 25.21 (RAW Rating: 25.32)</p></div><p></p></div><p></p>

Word going around is that despite the short time to build, Eric Bischoff is happy with the direction so far.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> - In an odd bit of news, Ted Turner has been named the head booker of Resistance Fighting. You may remember this as being the MMA promotion founded by Eric Bischoff. Turner has no experience as being a wrestling booker but apparently the new ownership see him as capable, if not just a big name to generate news stories. We have learned that RF has moved away from being a 100% combat fight sport to incorporating a more wrestling-oriented product.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> - On the topic of Ted Turner, we have received a press release from the offices of WCW stating that they are opening up a Hall Of Fame. In the release, it states that Eric Bischoff had reached out to Ted Turner and he will be the inaugural inductee. Despite the differences between the two in recent years, Eric Bischoff states in the release that Ted Turner remains a pillar of WCW and should be recognized as such. Bischoff further says that without Ted Turner, there would be no WCW as we know it today and that he hopes that this is just the beginning of eventually mending the fences. Until then, WCW wanted to recognize Mr. Turner as the base foundation of the company.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> - We have also learned that one of the biggest names in Tag Team Wrestling is also going to be inducted into the WCW Hall of Fame at the same time as Ted Turner. Sources are saying that Harlem Heat, consisting of Booker T and Stevie Ray, will be added. Sources say this is seen as a "no brainer" despite Booker T recently leaving WCW for WWE as Harlem Heat is a historic 8 time WCW World Tag Team Champion and helped WCW have, what many view, as the greatest tag team roster in history in the mid 90's.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> - We've learned that the WCW contract of "Ravishing" Rick Rude has come up and he has opted not to re-sign with WCW. Instead, viewers will be seeing Rick Rude return to WWE, as he agreed to undisclosed terms with them. It is not clear what kind of capacity Rude will have at WWE but we have heard that he will remain an active competitor. Whether or not WWE will use him in that capacity will remain to be seen. We're told that Monday Nitro was the last appearance of Rick Rude in WCW.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> - We've also learned through anonymous sources that WCW is currently in contract negotiations with another big-named star on their roster and that WWE is heavily pursuing them also. Our source is being tight-lipped about the name of the wrestler due to fear of them being found out as a news source but apparently the contract battle is fierce. We should know by the beginning of August who this person is and if they will be showing up on further WCW broadcasts.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> We have learned this weeks Thunder card and look for more action to take place this week, as this will be their last opportunity to build toward this Sunday's Bash at the Beach!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Thunder2002_zpsjq4wblox.jpg</span><p> </p><p> <strong>Lance Storm vs Chris Jericho</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Raven vs AJ Styles</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Taz vs Brock Lesnar</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000FF;">WCW United States Title:</span></span></strong></p><p><strong> Kidman vs Buff Bagwell ©</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> The Eliminators (Kronus & Saturn) vs The Powers of Pain (Barbarian & Warlord)</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> TJ Wilson vs Kanyon</strong></p><p></p></div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Lots of matches this week on Thunder but you can be sure that WCW is trying to get in as much as they can in a short amount of time for the Bash this weekend!</p></div><p></p>

Flexing and talking on his way to the ring as only Big Poppa Pump can do, the crowd eats it up and loves his antics. TJ Wilson has been getting quite a bit of time on television screens ever since Eric Bischoff's acquisition of WCW. Kanyon is more or less seen as the old guard of WCW all the while still being considered a young future star. Wilson clearly outshines Kanyon in this match simply with his speed and agility. Kanyon does his best to slow the match down to a style that's more his pace but that doesn't last long before Wilson hits Kanyon with the Rolling Stampede to pick up the impressive win! This was not even close to being a technical masterclass, but it was definitely entertaining and kept the crowd engaged. An abundance of power moves kept the fans on the edge of their seats. United States champion Buff Bagwell has seemed to be on a roll lately and Kidman is doing what he can to climb the ranks of WCW. Neither man holds out for this match, Bagwell because he wants to remain as US Champion and Kidman because he recognizes the opportunity. Kidman appeared to be a bit more urgent with his offense as Bagwell continued to flex and taunt wherever he had an opportunity. Buff would also point and laugh at Kidman, apparently making fun of his much smaller physique than his own. During the match, there was a nice sequence where Kidman rebounded off the ropes a couple of times, ducking clothesline attempts from Bagwell. On a second rebound, Kidman bounced off Bagwell as he bent over for a back body drop. Bagwell came up, ducked a Kidman clothesline and as Kidman turned, blasted him with his own clothesline, knocking him over in a flip. Rather than go for the cover though, Bagwell flexed again and claimed how great he was. The match continued on and found Kidman with the advantage. After striking a great looking dropkick, Kidman drags Buff to the corner. The crowd all get on their feet as they anticipate what's next. Kidman climbs the ropes and prepares for the Shooting Star Press! He flips, but crashes down onto the mat as Bagwell had rolled out of the way! Buff ascends to the middle rope and waits for Kidman to get on his feet, which he does. Bagwell then hits a picture-perfect Buff Blockbuster to get the win!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Buff Bagwell</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Taz%203_zpsgju797vr.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Brock%20Lesnar%201_zpsfjyijfw6.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Another huge matchup this time features Taz taking on Brock Lesnar. Despite the fact that Lesnar has been running through anyone in his path lately, Taz doesn't seem the slightest bit nervous. As soon as Lesnar steps in the ring, Taz walks straight up to him and they begin in a showdown. After some back and forth jawing, Taz pushes Lesnar. The beast barely budges and returns with his own push that puts Taz on the mat. From that point on, it's a slugfest. Taz throws everything he's got at Lesnar. He stumbles him a few times but never totally gets an advantage. Taz attempts a suplex on the big man but Lesnar blocks it and laughs before he tosses Taz with a huge overhead belly to belly suplex. From then on, the match belongs to Lesnar, who hits several clotheslines, a military press slam and a powerslam before he puts away the submission specialist with a powerbomb/pinning combination.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Brock Lesnar</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="tumblr_ofvkgyeWmO1ro8ysbo1_500.gif" data-src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/5447a2d6bdd530214c37e1e0c195b655/tumblr_ofvkgyeWmO1ro8ysbo1_500.gif" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> We have this promotional break to have a word from WCW's sponsor </p><p> - Slim Jim!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Rating: A*</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Raven%206_zpsatwuioka.jpg</span>vs<span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/AJ%20Styles%204_zps9bbt5wdm.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> - Raven goes up against AJ Styles in this next match. The crowd has been on fire all night and this match continues that going. As with many of the matches so far in this "new era" of WCW, one wrestler uses his experience while the opponent uses their speed and quickness. This is the same case as Raven uses his experience as his advantage to slow the match down and Styles uses his speed to keep Raven off balance. AJ is successful in hitting many moves off the top rope but goes to the well one too many times. AJ bounces off the rope from a springboard attempt to a swift kick in the gut. Everyone thought this would be the moment Raven goes for the Evenflow, but he doesn't. Raven instead hits a back suplex and then spends a moment sulking in the corner. This allows AJ a second wind who catches Raven with a punch to the gut that doubles him over. AJ goes for a backslide that gets a near fall. Raven bounces up to his feet only to be met with a kick form Styles. Raven appeared ready for it though and catches his foot. After a split second, Styles thinks fast and hits an enziguri, flooring Raven. AJ quickly rolls out onto the apron and waits for Raven to get to his feet. As Raven starts, AJ jumps up and springboards again, hitting Raven with a huge flying forearm! Styles, who now has the crowd on their feet, signals that it's time for the Styles Clash. Suddenly there is a commotion in the crowd. Rather than looking to the ring, their heads are now turned and pointing. The camera finally zooms in...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Sting%2032_zpsoqwjagtc.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Sting is standing in the crowd, just looking at AJ. Storm goes on to tell everyone that prior to any stellar sporting contest, it's only appropriate that the National Anthem is played beforehand.....But he doesn't want the United States anthem to play, but he rather wants everyone to stand for the playing of the Canadian National Anthem. This of course generates heavy boos from the crowd as the anthem plays. Jericho also stoically stands with his hands behind him as the music plays, wearing his own disgusted look on his face by the actions of the crowd. After it plays, Jericho gets on the microphone and berates the crowd for their behavior and says this place doesn't deserve to see a wrestling match between exquisite talents such as themselves. This doesn't last long though as the referee, who's had enough, calls for the bell and the match officially begins. Jericho and Storm take turns working each other and getting their main spots in. Storm uses his technical knowledge to slow the match down during crucial points and relies on many arm locks and reverse chin locks. Storm also begins to work Jericho's knee, undoubtedly softening it up for the Canadian Maple Leaf.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Jericho though, uses his own assault to plan for the Liontamer. Jericho backs Storm into a corner and hits a few chops before a spinning back kick. Jericho then tosses Storm into the opposite corner and rushes in, hitting a money flip on Storm. Storm lands on his feet though and when Jericho turns, he turns straight into a superkick. Storm goes for the pin and gets a near fall, Jericho kicking out just before a 3. Storm gets Jericho to his feet and pushes him into the ropes. Jericho begins to rebound but locks his arms in the ropes as Storm is going for a dropkick. Stunning himself by landing flat on his back, Jericho quickly grabs Storm's legs and twists him over, painfully locking in the Liontamer. Storm's twisted and contorted body can take only so much before he taps the mat and the referee rings the bell.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Chris Jericho</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Jericho celebrates the win as Thunder's credits roll. So many thoughts are going through my head and most of them are out of my control. I've gotten everything set up until now. The matches are set. The ring and stage are constructed. Hell, there's even some fans outside already, waiting to get into the building. There's a ton of hype and a ton of speculation. Hopefully I do my job and get people interested. Hopefully the talent does their job and pulls off the ideas. I have every bit of confidence in them all that they will be able to do that. Ever since I've come back, they've all shown a tremendous amount of drive and determination. I think I proved a lot of people wrong by what I had started to do with the NWA and what I was wanting to do with RF.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';"> Speaking of RF, I found it pretty funny that Ted Turner was named the head booker. Despite having no experience in booking, I don't look for Ted to fail. I reached out to him, as I only saw it fitting that since we were starting a WCW Hall of Fame that he should be the very first inductee. Without Ted Turner there is no WCW, plain and simple. I saw it equally important that Harlem Heat was inducted as the first tag team to be entered. Booker T may still be wrestling, and for another company at that, but Stevie Ray has retired. I don't want my Hall of Fame to be full of people who are still active wrestlers. Thinking back on those two reminded me a lot of the many faces that've come and gone in WCW. It reminded me of a conversation I had just very recently with someone.......</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div style="text-align:center;"><div><span style="font-family:'Courier New';">- Eric Bischoff is sitting in his office in Atlanta, pen in hand, eye glasses on his face, and going over papers. It's nothing against you, trust me. It's just that things aren't like they used to be. I have to make tough decisions. This is my company now and it's my company to lose and that's simply something I will not allow to happen. Not only that, but there's really not much else I can do with you. They tie up first and Douglas, the veteran in the match, backs Claudio into the corner. Douglas continues to work away in the corner ending with an eye gouge that he holds until the referee gets to 5, warning Douglas to break it or suffer a disqualification.</p><p> </p><p> Douglas sends Claudio into the ropes who bounces back, ducking under a wild swing by Douglas who attempts a clothesline. The referee counts 2 3/4 before Douglas kicks out. A shocked Douglas kneels, wide-eyed and he can't believe he was caught off guard. Claudio just stands in the corner with a huge grin on his face, putting his fingers up to tell Douglas that he was <em>this</em> close to dethroning the TV Champ. Douglas quickly rolls out of the ring to collect himself as the referee begins the count. After a few seconds, Douglas rolls back in and begins to take control of the match again, slowing it down. But each time Douglas would slow down to his pace, Claudio would catch him off guard, seeming to one-up the champion which caused him to be furious. Claudio was able to gain an advantage and caught Douglas with a beautiful looking drop kick. Claudio quickly went for another pin but Douglas kicked out at 2. The match continued to go back and forth and it seemed that for any offense Douglas had, Claudio was able to counter it and while he never had a long dominant spot in the match, he was able to quickly counter and keep Douglas on his toes. After getting to a point where Douglas was beaten down enough, Claudio attempted to go for his Piledriver finishing move. Claudio lifted Douglas but Douglas thrashed his feet, getting back down to the mat. Douglas went for a backdrop on Claudio, who was standing too close to the ropes. Claudio flipped himself over the top rope and landed feet-first onto the apron. When Douglas turned, Claudio sprung, going for a sunset flip. Douglas was able to counter that, hooking Claudio's legs and leaning forward. That wasn't enough though for the reigning TV Champion as he grabbed forward with one arm, latching onto the ropes. The referee counted the pin for Douglas who never saw him holding onto the bottom rope! Shane Douglas didn't stick around for very long, exiting the ring and grabbing his TV title before heading back up the ramp.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Shane Douglas</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Chris%20Jericho%202k2_zpsngnxo7of.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/Bobby%20Roode_zps9bjspofj.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> </p><p> Chris Jericho and Bobby Roode are up next. The announcers mention that Bobby Roode has much more to prove here than Jericho does, but a loss for Jericho would be much more severe for him rather than Roode. In any case, Roode was the clear less-experienced worker as Jericho was able to counter most everything he attempted. One bright spot of the match was when Roode caught Jericho with a powerslam off the ropes out of nowhere. The crowd became re-energized in the match on the near fall but so did Jericho, who returned with a new-looking fury in his eyes. After seeing that toying with his opponent nearly cost him the match, Jericho wasted little more time. After hitting a spinning back kick, Jericho launched himself off the ropes and hit the Lionsault. Rather than attempting a pin, Jericho got right back up and locked in a painful-looking Liontamer, to which Roode quickly tapped out.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner: Chris Jericho</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-family:Impact;"><span style="color:#2F4F4F;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Please Forgive Me...</span></strong></span></span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Gene%20Okerlund%202_zpsjqudleqv.jpg</span><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Sting%2032_zpsoqwjagtc.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Gene Okerlund is backstage and standing beside him is none other than the Stinger. Curt Hennig and Barry Windham have set their place in the history of the WCW tag team division and the Dudley's look to claim their own. During the majority of the night, Barry Windham remained mostly silent while Hennig did most of the trash talk. Bubba Dudley was able to hold his own though in terms of trash talk and both Dudley's did well as far as in-ring work and holding their own to the two veterans. Windham utilized more rest holds while Hennig relied on impact moves, drop kicks and dirty tactics of course. The Dudley's used their strength to their advantage and it was a decent match technically despite being heavy on the brawling. The Dudley's ended up getting an advantage late in the match but made the mistake of attempting to involve their trademark tables. While D-Von, at the request of Bubba, got the table, the Dudley's set up to put Windham through. This allowed Hennig to hit bubba in the back of the head with one of the tag title belts while the referee was distracted, attempting to get D-Von to leave the table. Windham collapsed on an unconscious Bubba to pick up the win, albeit a tainted one.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winners: West Texas Rednecks</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B-</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Hulk%20Hogan%202K2%20alt_zpspypht5bw.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> Hollywood Hogan is backstage walking the halls, taunting various backstage workers and telling them to get out of his way. On the flip side, Bagwell is looking to continue his unlikely title reign after suffering a broken neck in a match with Ric Flair in June 2000. Bagwell was out for over one year, finally getting back into the ring in September 2001. He has been on fire all year long so far after capturing the US title. TJ used his crazy speed to his advantage and Bagwell used his strength to his. As soon as TJ would gain momentum with his quickness, Bagwell would find a way to clock him to the "OOOOOH's" of the crowd. Not only did this match highlight TJ Wilson's ability and near guarantee to play a big role in WCW, but it also showcased Buff Bagwell's surprised talent. Bagwell was never viewed as a very good in-ring worker but it's clear that his rehabilitation and time off served him well. Despite TJ's high-flying catching Buff off guard several times, Bagwell was able to put him away and successfully defend his title after connecting with the Blockbuster.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner: Buff Bagwell</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/AJ%20Styles%204_zpss38wco7c.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Sting%2032_zpsoqwjagtc.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> </p><p> The fans are ready to go for this next match as AJ Styles makes his way out first. The music fades out as the production staff starts it again, thinking that maybe Sting just was delayed for some reason. The lights dim, shrouding the arena in a dim light, his theme plays and plays again but no Sting comes out onto the stage. AJ Styles questions the referee what the hold-up is but he's got no answers either, just shrugging his shoulders and holding up his hands. The announce booth questions that maybe Sting saw the light, so to speak, and doesn't want to face AJ after all. All the questions are finally laid to rest after Sting emerges...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> But he doesn't emerge from the back onto the stage. Sting emerges from under the ring and behind AJ, who is standing facing the stage. Despite the roars from the crowd and the cries to get his attention, AJ remains ignorant to Sting rolling into the ring behind him. Sting gets up onto his feet and slowly stalks up behind AJ. There's no movement from Sting, no words uttered. The referee can't even warn AJ as his attention is toward the stage also. Sting's music finally cuts off but the lights remain dimmed. Flashes from thousands of cameras are going off, creating a surreal moment. Sting finally takes a baseball bat from the sleeve of his long coat and slowly looks it up and down, making sure it's the appropriate, non-blemished weapon of choice. Everyone is anticipating what Sting will do. Will he tap him on the shoulder?? Will he just attack him from behind with the bat? Sting doesn't choose either option. Instead, Sting takes in a big breath of air and blows it out to the back of AJ's head. The sudden gust of wind catches his attention as he finally turns to see Sting standing there. Before AJ can say anything and fast as lightning, Sting takes the bat and shoves it into the stomach of AJ Styles. As he gasps for air, Sting then hits AJ in the leg with the bat, causing him to crash to the mat. Sting viciously assaults AJ with the bat, again and again. Cheers then begin to fill the arena and the announcers question what they could be cheering about.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Lex%20Luger%202_zpszuiyq3hl.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Lex Luger runs out and is running toward the ring with a head full of steam. Luger slides in and right about that time, Sting collects himself and exits the opposite side, wanting nothing to do with the Total Package. Luger goes up to the ropes and stalks Sting as he walks around the ring and toward the aisle way where he slowly backs his way toward the stage. Once Luger's sure Sting won't be attempting another attack, he turns to check on AJ Styles and gets him to his feet. Luger checks on AJ and it appears that AJ's somehow managed to escape any kind of serious injury after that horrid attack. Brock Lesnar has been on a war path through WCW and looks to start it off against the Hitman. Lesnar was out first and stayed in the middle of the ring during Hart's entire entrance. As soon as Hart got his trademark leather jacket off and the bell sounded, Lesnar was like an animal let loose. Lesnar pummeled Bret with forearm shots until he battered him down in the middle of the ring. Once Hart was down, Lesnar mounted the Hitman and began to rain down haymakers. The referee attempted a couple different times to separate the two, only to have Lesnar give him a shove out of the way. Hart had eventually been busted open from all the closed-knuckle fists and with the referee unable to gain control, he had no choice but to call for the bell. With Lesnar now disqualified and the bell ringing, there was no deterrence for Lesnar to stop his assault and instead kept it going at the same pace. Officials flooded the ring and were eventually able to get Lesnar off of Hart and medics attended to him. Hart was escorted out of the ring by other staff as the remaining officials held Lesnar back. Hart may have won this match but he clearly did not come out in good shape.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner by Disqualification: Bret Hart</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44482" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/DDP%202k1_zpslhd5euok.jpg</span> vs <span>http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad191/hendersonjon/WCW/Randy%20Savage%2031_zpsjftpg9bv.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> </p><p> DDP and Randy Savage are no strangers to one another. Randy Savage used every opportunity he could to gain an advantage by cheating, whether it was eye pokes, low blows, or putting his feet on the ropes during a pin attempt. The Rock comes out first to not much fanfare. He climbs the ropes and taunts out to the crowd and soaks in the atmosphere as he gets his first title opportunity since coming to WCW. The World Heavyweight Champion "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner comes out next to a flood of cheers from the crowd. Steiner stops at the top of the ramp to flex his huge bicep into the camera before finishing his walk to the ring. There, Steiner climbs to the second rope and flexes both biceps this time out to the crowd while thousands of flashes go through the crowd. After the music all stops and the crowd give a cheer of anticipation, Steiner and The Rock meet in the center of the ring, face to face. The bell sounds and the two men take a second to taunt the other. Their mouths are moving at what seems like record pace as they tell each other in their own words just what they plan on doing to the other.</p><p> </p><p> Rock is the first to break the staredown as he rears back with his arm extended and goes into attempt a punch on the World Champion. Steiner quickly blocks it and begins his own barrage of fists, stumbling the Rock back toward the ropes. The fans erupt in cheers as Steiner begins with his first offensive as he gets him pushed back to the ropes and Irish whips him into the opposite side of the ring. Rock rebounds straight into a Steinerline. The World Champion stands above the downed challenger who just stares up at him before rolling out of the ring and to the floor. The Rock takes a little break and takes a lap around the ring as Steiner pumps his arm up to his lips, giving his bicep a kiss. He then drops down to the mat to do some pushups, all while yelling at the Rock to bring it. Once The Rock gets back in the ring, the pace is able to be controlled by him a bit better. Rock ends up catching Steiner with a flurry of punches in the corner, reeling the World Champion. Rock pulled out as many moves as he could and eventually hit a shoulderbreaker on Steiner for a near fall. Steiner mounted his own comeback also which eventually saw him connect with a top rope Frankensteiner, something the crowd hasn't seen in a long time. Being beaten and worn out from the long match, Steiner was slow to get over to make a cover on the Rock who kicked out at 2 3/4.</p><p> </p><p> Steiner got to his feet slowly and grabbed the Rock, bringing him up to his feet also. Steiner pushes Rock into the ropes and goes to Irish whip him across but Rock reverses. On the rebound, The Rock catches Steiner with a big Spinebuster! Everyone, announcers included, thought The Rock was going to go for a cover but he bypass it and gets to his feet. The Rock looks out to the crowd and smells the air and takes in the boos. He steps to Steiner's head, kicks his arm in close to his body and begins to take off his elbow pad. The crowd knows what's coming next as all the cameras again start to flash. The Rock runs and bounces off the ropes......Bounces again and......</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>People's Elbow!!!!</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Rock goes for the pin......1.................................2................................</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>NO!</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Steiner had kicked out at the very last millisecond!! The Rock is stunned as well as the crowd, as they thought Steiner was out. The Rock begs with the referee to give him the 3 count but it was a failed effort. Not to be deterred though, the Rock signals that he's going to finish it all off now and become the next World Champion. He picks up Steiner and indicates he's going to go for the Rock Bottom but Steiner gets a surge of energy. He catches the Rock with a knee and looks like he's going to attempt the Steiner Screwdriver, a move that also hasn't been seen in awhile. Steiner gets the Rock in suplex position and goes to lift him but, unexpectedly, The Rock reverses and flips behind him. The Rock spins Steiner around and catches him in the Rock Bottom!!!!!!!!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 1..................................</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2......................................................</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 3!!!!!!! </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The Rock just pinned Scott Steiner to become the <strong>NEW</strong> WCW Heavyweight Champion! Elated, The Rock jumps up and the referee hands him the title belt. The crowd boo their displeasure but the Rock doesn't even seem to notice. He takes the title and looks at it before climbing the ropes to hold it up. Despite the boos, the Rock holds the title proudly and closes his eyes to soak in all the, what he imagines, support. Joey Styles, Paul Heyman, and Tony Shiavone all sign off and tell everyone to tune in tomorrow night on the WCW Network for Monday Nitro, as there's sure to be a ton of fallout from tonight's event!!!</p><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Winner and NEW World Champion: The Rock</strong></p></div><p><strong> Rating: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Overall Show Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: 2.27</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p>
