Ring of Honor: Top Prospect Tournament 2019

Ring of Honor: Top Prospect Tournament 2019

Live on Pay-Per-View

Ringside Announcers: Ian Riccaboni and AJ Kirsch

The show starts up right away with our first bout, a semi-final bout between Fred Yehi and Kriss Stark.

Top Prospect Tournament Semi-Final

Fred Yehi vs. Kriss Stark

K1Brzw8.jpgkTDXWu3.jpg8kYGa3G.jpg

This one got off to a solid start with great chain wrestling and a fun back and forth sequence between both superstars. The announce team put over the success that Yehi has had this year in the Southeast and how his star has been on the rise. As for Stark the highlighted his triumphant return to wrestling and the success he's been having here in the tournament. Stark looked to weaken Yehi's already vulnerable neck, but this just seemed to piss Yehi off as he immediately fought back with knife-edge chops blistering the chest of Stark. As Stark dropped to a knee it was clear this one was over as Yehi locked in the Koji Clutch and forced him to tap.

Winner, and Advancing the Top Prospect Tournament Final: Fred Yehi

From there we cut a video feed, the screen says "Live In Tokyo"... It is a dark room with wafting smoke, and a a high backed leather chair in the frame... The chair spins and we see Ring of Honor World Champion, Cody, sitting in the chair in a full three-piece suit holding a cigar. He looks into the camera and starts his message. He tells the audience that he's sorry he can't be there tonight... but he had some pressing things to deal with here in Japan...where he is huge... He pulls a bag out from under the desk and reaches inside, pulling the ROH World title out. He says that for the last year he's defended this title with pride and honor and that when he returns stateside he's looking forward to meeting his newest challengers...... He then pulls out another belt... It's the NEVER Openweight Title. He says, you see, while I've been over here I added this beauty to my collection, coming out on top at Wrestle Kingdom over Bad Luck Fale... And just this week, he reaches into the bag again and pulls out the IWGP Tag Title... You see Cody doesn't LOSE to turncoats, and the Bullet Club's so-called Firing Squad let them down again. In just two weeks he's beaten the whole Firing Squad and now he's ready to take the gold back home to Atlanta...

Top Prospect Tournament Semi-Final

Austin Theory vs. Ray Rosas

s9YAEEZ.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgmNgw3fx.jpg

The second semi-final saw Rosas and Theory get straight to it. Theory's size advantage played a big factor early on but Rosas experience age allowed him to take advantage of little gaffes that Theory made throughout the bout. Rosas even hit an awesome Tornado DDT on Theory for a near-fall. In the end though, Theory's athleticism was just too much for Rosas to handle and Theory delivered the Unproven Cutter for the 1-2-3 and the right to face Fred Yehi for the Top Prospect crown later this evening.

Winner and Advancing To The Finals: Austin Theory

We go backstage where Marty Scurll is standing-by, stroking his Television Title. He calls out Jeff Cobb for the attacks and says that no man has ever had the gall to just straight up attack the villain and not expect him to the play the game back... He says he isn't afraid of Jeff Cobb, but Jeff Cobb should be afraid of the Villain... Long Live The Villain and Long Live The Ring of Honor Television Title.....

We pan out to the ring where Jeff Cobb is making his entrance... as he flexes on the stage Scurll runs from behind and cold-clocks him with the Television title... Trying his best to negate the weight advantage Scurll tosses Cobb into the ring and bout gets started in a non-traditional way...

Ring of Honor Television Title

Marty Scurll {C} vs. Jeff Cobb

NXdcx8x.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgZc5ON97.jpg

The bell rings and Scurll immediately continues the attack. He beats down Cobb but Cobb seems to still have energy and fights his way back to his feet. Scurll is reeling now as Cobb uses his ham-hock fists to pulverize Scurll into the corner... As he backs him into the corner, referee Todd Sinclair, starts the count and forces Cobb to back away... as he's doing that, Scurll uses some of his remaining energy untie the turnbuckle and then possums back into the corner. As Sinclair let's Cobb return to the corner, Cobb swings another blow but Scurll rolls out of the way leading to Cobb's fist colliding with the exposed turnbuckle. Scurll immediately goes for the hand and takes advantage hitting his signature finger-snap on Cobb and sending the big man reeling. Scurll tries to go for the Crossface Chickenwing but Cobb stands up, with Scurll on his back and backs him into the exposed turnbuckle. Cobb, now using only one hand, still has the strength advantage and rag-dolls Scurll around the ring. Scurll attempts to mount a comeback but Cobb catches him and just like that hits the Tour of the Islands, spinning suplex and pins Scurll for the 1-2-3... We have a new Television Champion... and his name is JEFF COBB.

Winner and NEW Ring of Honor Television Champion: Jeff Cobb

We cut to a promo featuring Alex Shelley and Will Ospreay. It highlights their recent stints with New Japan Pro Wrestling where they have both been since Wrestle Kingdom. We see them teaming up to defeat the World Class Tag Team, the clips ends announcing both will be back in Ring of Honor in February and that Alex Shelley will also participate in the New Japan Cup in the first week of February. As Ian Riccaboni cuts in on the voiceover he mentions that Marty Scurll, will need to lick his wounds, as he will also be participating in the New Japan Cup and he will be facing Alex Shelley in the first round!

The Hung Bucks vs. SoCal Uncensored 2.0

8378v4n.jpgNEHdvLg.jpgU1FiB0o.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgIiF2KXD.jpgtpqum4A.jpgCbw2583.jpg

The last month just hasn't been kind to SoCal Uncensored 2.0. Father time certainly appears to be catching up with both Kazarian and Daniels and the Bucks used that to their full-advantage. This one was a fun bout and it definitely highlighted The Young Bucks the most. Honestly this was rather one-sided and the Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver on Kazarian for the win after Hangman Page hit a top-rope Moonsault to the floor onto Romero and Daniels to take them out of the picture.

Winners: The Hung Bucks

Backstage the cameraman caught up with our New Television Champion, Jeff Cobb, while he was getting his swollen and bruised hand taped up... he looked up at the camera and immediately shooed the medical staff away. He called out Cody and said this destruction was just a warning shot. The day Cody steps back on American soil, Jeff Cobb will be there and he will beat Cody down.

No Gimmicks Needed vs. Horror Kings

xj4swgH.jpgJNvytgY.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgCQvreaf.jpgIJqAdoA.jpg

Jay Lethal and Low-Ki make their way to the ring like men on a mission. The two ROH Veterans didn't take to kindly to the attempts at mind-games and they went straight after Martinez and Marseglia. Things settle down and this match quickly turns into another great bout produced by No Gimmicks Needed. In fact it was the match of the night. All four participants looked great in this one and Low-Ki put on a showcase on kicks and strikes. Damien Martinez' agility and size was showcased when he hit the rope assisted Tope Con Hilo onto Lethal on the outside, but the risky maneuver didn't pay off as while they recovered, Low-Ki climbed the turnbuckle and delivered a vicious Ghetto Stomp to the floor laying out Martinez for the remainder of the bout leaving Marseglia on an island... an island he wouldn't escape as No Gimmicks Needed laid into him and delivered the 1-2-3 for the title defense.

Winners, and Still Ring of Honor Tag Champions: No Gimmicks Needed, Low-Ki and Jay Lethal

Austin Aries is out next, he comes down with his recent spiel on how he's been mistreated and disrespected. He says that Jeff Cobb got lucky and he looks forward to stripping him of that belt. He mentions that he wasn't booked for anything tonight and that made him realize that his talents are being wasted... and he might be better off elsewhere... but... tonight he's going to prove he can beat anyone and if he doesn't... he'll quit...

Austin Aries vs. ?????

Aries waits in the ring... no music hits. He again begins a little rant... Suddenly, BJ Whitmer steps out from the curtain... Aries laughs and says Whitmer's career is long-over... and this will be easy... Whitmer stops him in his tracks... "Austin, I didn't come out here to fight you... I came out here to watch you get your ass beaten by a man I met 15 years ago in a little place called NWA: Wildside. A man who proudly carries on the traditions of Southern wrestling. A man who who is my "Ace in the Hole".... ... Let me introduce you to the the veteran with nothing to lose... "The Workhorseman" ANTHONY HENRY."

luGqa4V.jpg

Henry, a recent participant in the Top Prospect Tournament, who fell just short, losing to Fred Yehi in the Quarters in a great bout, makes his way out. He fist bumps Whitmer, and takes off...

Austin Aries vs. Anthony Henry

p5yRVXd.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgluGqa4V.jpg

Aries is caught a bit off guard and Henry takes it right to him hitting him with a combo of strikes and kicks. Aries flees the ring only to be chased right back into it by Whitmer at ringside. Forced to fight, Aries takes it to Henry and changes the complexion of the bout into his favor. He fights off Henry and takes the fight to the mat. Henry, an accomplished MMA fighter, looks comfortable on the mat and reverses a lot of what Aries has to offer... but then, out of nowhere Aries locks in the Horns of Aries... Henry is certainly going to tap.......but Henry fights his way to the ropes and forces a rope break. Aries breaks the hold and lifts Henry... he has him up for the Brainbuster but Henry knees him and slithers out. Henry drops Aries with a Codebreaker and makes the cover...

1

2

Aries powers out. Henry doesn't let up though and he locks in a modified rear naked choke on Aries. Aries reaches for the ropes but Henry locks in it tighter, sitting onto Aries back... suddenly... Aries taps... IT'S OVER. Anthony Henry has just defeated Austin Aries... OH MY. BJ Whitmer steps into the ring and raises Henry's arm... The fans chant: "Nah, nah, nah, nah, hey, hey, hey, goodbye" at Aries who looks absolutely shocked at what just transpired...

Winner: Anthony Henry

We get another pre-taped promo from the Chicken Farm in Sandy Fork, Delaware. Mark and Jay both say this little bit of time-off was needed but soon... it's back to biz-uh-ness for Dem Boyz...

Top Prospect Tournament Finals

Austin Theory vs. Fred Yehi

s9YAEEZ.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgK1Brzw8.jpg

The finals of the Top Prospect Tournament pitted two rivals from the Southeast scene, Austin Theory and Fred Yehi. Both have impressed throughout this tournament and that meant this bout wound up disappointing a bit. Theory immediately targeted the neck and Yehi was clearly hindered by it. Fighting twice in one night with a bad neck seemed to be a recipe for failure and Theory targeted it with a number of moves including a Snapmare Driver that saw Yehi land right on the neck... Referee Paul Turner stepped in and briefly stopped the fight to have Ring of Honor's medical team check Yehi and verify he could still fight. Theory screamed at Yehi to just quit, but Yehi shoved the doctors away and went right at Theory knocking him to the ground and forcing Theory to regroup. Yehi landed several sharp blows to the back of Theory, but it was clear he was weakened with his strike. Theory took advantage of this and tweaked at the neck more and more until he finally was able to hit the Unproven Cutter, laying Yehi out cleanly and covering him for the crown...

Winner, and 2019 Ring of Honor Top Prospect: Austin Theory

As Theory celebrated in the ring, Colt Cabana hopped in to conduct a quick interview. He asked Theory how it felt and Theory said this was a foregone conclusion from the day he found out he was going to be in this tournament. He says that the fact Colt Cabana even thought to ask that question shows how clueless he is about who Austin Theory is... Theory suddenly clocks Cabana, laying him out... he picks him up and hits the Unproven Cutter on Cabana, leaving him out cold in the middle of the ring...

Ring of Honor Six-Man Tag Titles

The End {C} vs. The Bestest Friends

85QSprR.jpgNlkd3lW.jpg5wIQJMM.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgosDZUwf.jpgTKL2LiD.jpgDJeshS8.jpg

If we are being honest this really wasn't a main event caliber match, but the booking group wanted to highlight The End and The Bestest Friends and this was a nice way to do it. Matt Taven looked better in this match than he has in the previous 12 months and that was a good thing. Odinson continued to show his strength, bullying The Bestest Friends any time he was in the ring and Hammerstone hit the Stone Breaker on Chuckie T to neutralize one-third of their team early-on. Beretta and Castle held their own though and both managed to keep the team in the bout. Beretta and Castle actually had a near fall when they rolled up Taven, but Odinson broke the count up just before three. In the end the numbers game caught up to The Bestest Friends... Chuckie T tried to get himself back into the match and was promptly met with a huge Pounce that sent him into the corner... Hammerstone tagged in and cleared Castle and Beretta from the apron before tagging in Taven who covered Chuckie T for the title defense.

Expected this to be a bit of a down show due to the lack of talent, and it was. But <strong>No Gimmicks Needed</strong> helped put up an incredibly solid match, per usual, and really boosted the quality overall. They are a solid team and two of the best workers on the roster, definitely helps! Middle of the card definitely carried it. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Fred Yehi'</strong>s neck injury wasn't a work, in his first bout of the tournament he came down with an "Undisclosed Neck Injury" but could work through it. It really effected his performance in the second match, but it made for a good storyline and it was worth running with it. He's one of four members of the Top Prospect Tournament that will be sticking around for a bit, so stay tuned! And if you don't see your favorites (PPRay...) don't worry, there is always a need for enhancement.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">BREAKING NEWS: Austin Aries Leaves ROH</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

After a stunning loss to Anthony Henry at the Top Prospect Tournament, Ring of Honor officials have confirmed that Austin Aries is finished with the company. Having returned only three months ago, the former ROH World Champion, Austin Aries, struggled to find his footing in his return. In the end he told Ring of Honor officials he would honor his promise to leave if he didn't win, and Aries is now free to take any and all bookings. We wish Austin the best in his future endeavors.</p><p> </p><p>

They've begun to release the talent and fans are staying they are clearly going right after the World Wrestling Network's grasp on the South East. Destiny: 3/8</p><p>

Forrest01: 7/8</p><p> </p><p>

Impressive showing for Forrest and Powerbrock this week. Forrest was the only person to pick Austin Theory to win it all. Yehi's injury made me choose to go that route, and he and Yehi are both part of the plan moving forward. Both fit the ROH mold in my opinion as well. </p><p> </p><p>

Aries actually opted to hand in his notice and thus I booked him to lose to Anthony Henry and Jeff Cobb on his way out... might as well push some new talent. Losing War Machine was intentional... losing Sabin and Aries was not... But hey, 2019 brings more new challenges and some new faces... That's the fun.</p><p> </p><p>

This time around we are going with quarters (3 PPVs and a Special Event), so four prizes in the year and a grand prize at the end. Last year's winners have picked their prizes and those prizes will be showing up soonish in the story.</p>

<p>Looking at it, Theory seems like the right choice given Yehi's injury angle. Just felt like a face winning would be the route to go after last year's event was won by Odinson.</p><p> </p><p>

Still hoping for my SoCal boys to make another appearance. PPRay for Tag Champs! .... or at least a preshow match before leaving.</p>

ROH Television, January Week 4, February Week 1, 2019.

ROH TV, January Week 4, 2019

Fresh off the Top Prospect Tournament, the runner-up Fred Yehi is interviewed in the back. He mentions that Ring of Honor officials have told him they were impressed with his resilience and willingness to fight through a neck injury and while the neck is still sore, he's been 100% cleared to compete and tonight the climb to the top begins. He's ready to prove he belongs here in Ring of Honor.

After the standard opening montage Fred Yehi stays true to his word defeating Jonathan Gresham in a bout that showcased Yehi's ability to reverse anything. Proving himself worthy of the nickname, "The Man of 1000 Counters" Yehi countered a Gresham Octopus Stretch into a Triangle choke and forced Gresham to tap.

We then get another Royalty promo from Japan, this time Marty Scurll walks into the "Office" that Cody has set up there in Japan. Cody tells him while the result was disappointing the fight was not. He says that Marty will get his chance at redemption and he will prove his worth in the New Japan Cup next week. Cody meanwhile mentions that he's ready to come home...

Back to the ring the newly crowned Television champ Jeff Cobb absolutely annihilated Josh Woods for his first official defense. Cobb laid waste to the hapless Woods and as he covered him screamed into the camera that he was coming for Cody.

Backstage we see Austin Theory, the newly crowned Top Prospect, he's seemingly alone in the dressing room, but as he begins to address the camera we see a dark-haired female figure enter the picture, but quickly leave the room when she sees the camera. Theory speaks, seemingly unfazed, and tells the camera to focus on him. He says that a theory is unproven, but that he is inching closer to proving that he is the New Sensation in professional wrestling. He says that Colt Cabana is what is wrong with professional wrestling. And next week on ROH television the Unproven One with prove that...

In the main event The Young Bucks and the Horror Kings tear the roof down in one of the best televised bouts in recent Ring of Honor history. The Young Bucks secure the win when they hit Marseglia with the Meltzer Driver, but the Horror Kings once again showed they have the skill compete. Post-match, The Young Bucks challenge No Gimmicks Needed for the Tag Titles at Manhattan Mayhem saying it's time these teams tore the roof off a building.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROH TV, February Week 1, 2019

This weeks show opens with a pre-taped promo from The Briscoe Brothers. Jay and Mark once again are seen back home, but this time they are in the back of the house, wrestling in a makeshift "ring" of sorts surrounded by hay bails and chicken wire. Dem Boyz turn to address the camera and say that just because they aren't actively fighting doesn't mean they aren't actively training and when they return to Ring of Honor they will become the Ten Time, Tag Champions.

BJ Whitmer is out next to introduce the television audience to "The Workhorseman" Anthony Henry, the 16 year pro who may finally be getting his big break here with Ring of Honor. Whitmer says he knows the guys in the office well and he's put his own reputation on the line to support his "Ace In The Hole"...

Anthony Henry makes his new advocate, Whitmer, look smart easily dismantling TK O'Ryan in the first bout of the night. Henry wins with a vicious Spinebuster that he learned from his Father-in-Law, David Young.

Backstage we heard an oddly familiar laugh, but it is tricky to place. It isn't a laugh we've heard on Ring of Honor television before... suddenly the camera pans up to see a bald man, with sharp eyebrows and a eye-catching red suit. The man immediately introduces himself, though many fans need no introducing. "My name is James Mitchell, The Sinister Minister if you will." He mentions that he's been watching from the sidelines for a while looking for some new monsters to mentor and when he saw them he knew he'd found what he was looking for... Damien "Punishment" Martinez and Vinny Marseglia, The Horror Kings, are the perfect subject. All they need is a little guidance and push to put them over the top... and now... He's here.

The next match featured Austin Theory taking on Colt Cabana. Cabana has been a part-time performer, part-time personality in his most recent stint with ROH, and his ring rust was evident here. Theory on the other hand looked like a star in this one. He took on and easily took out Cabana with the Unproven Cutter for the 1-2-3 and the victory. As Theory celebrated his victory, Priscilla Kelly walked down to ringside... she entered the ring and ran her hand across the chest of Theory... and then guides him from the ring without saying a word.

Up next Jeff Cobb once again easily defended his Television Title defeating Shaheem Ali. Ali has good size and put up a decent fight, but Cobb was far too much for him and Cobb's Tour of the Islands put an end to this one... As Cobb went to cut a promo Royalty's theme hit and the Ring of Honor World Champion, Cody returned to ROH television. Cody began his promo by saying he knew he'd been missed and while he was gone this new "force" showed up and started coming after what Royalty holds dear, Championship GOLD. He said that he respected Cobb's arrogance, but that arrogance will get you killed and at Manhattan Mayhem, Cody tells Cobb, He'll give him a taste of his own medicine. Cody walks out as the announcers hype what will certainly be a huge main event at Manhattan Mayhem.

In the main event The Bestest Friends get back into the win column as they defeated the scuffling SoCal Uncensored 2.0. Fun back and forth bout here with Chuckie T hitting the Awful Waffle on Daniels for the victory. Post-match as we went off the air we could see SoCal Uncensored 2.0 looking for answers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

{Back on track with two new television episodes above. Think we got some good stories told here and set-up a couple show-stealers for Manhattan Mayhem in Bucks vs. No Gimmicks Needed and Cody vs. Cobb. I probably went a little overboard with the managers here, using three (Whitmer, Mitchell, and Kelly) but I think they all serve a certain purpose and the fact that Whitmer/Henry have good chemistry and Kelly/Theory have excellent chemistry certainly doesn't hurt... Plus I just like James Mitchell. I totally forgot Colt Cabana was a freelancer in game, so his three month deal came up and he didn't want to resign... so I fed him to Theory. Had he had another month I might have built that story for a bit longer. I have a plan that I'm excited about for the Briscoes return, but it isn't imminent... So there. Next batch of episodes likely up tomorrow leading us into Manhattan Mayhem.}

He says that it's clear that this group needs another makeover and that makeover is one that the <em>Heavy Metal Rebel</em> is equipped to lead the charge on. He says he knows just the man and when<strong> SoCal Uncensored 2.0</strong> is back on TV they'll be more metal than ever...</p><p> </p><p> In the television main event, <strong>No Gimmicks Needed</strong> defended the Tag Titles against <strong>The Dawgs</strong>. <strong>Low-Ki and Lethal</strong> dismantled <strong>Rhett Titus and Will Ferrara</strong> with surgical precision and before we went off the air, <strong>Jay Lethal let The Young Bucks</strong> know that at <strong>Manhattan Mayhem</strong> it would be <strong>No Gimmicks Needed vs. The Young Bucks</strong> and it will tear the roof off.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>ROH TV, February Week 3, 2019</strong></span></span></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> The show opened with <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> annihilating <strong>Cheeseburger</strong> and easily retaining the television title. As <strong>Cobb</strong> celebrates, <strong>Cody</strong> sneaks in from the crowd and clocks <strong>Cobb</strong> with the ROH World title. He lifts Cobb up and hits a CrossRhodes on him and sends us to commercial posing over Cobb.</p><p> </p><p> During the break we get a promo for The <strong>Women of Honor</strong>. The promo features <strong>Nattie Neidhart and Tenille Dashwood</strong> but finishes with silhouettes of multiple other women. It says that the Women of Honor are now an exclusive product of Honor Club and that you can catch them in action there monthly moving forward or live in person prior to ROH TV!</p><p> </p><p> Back from break we get <strong>Anthony Henry and BJ Whitmer</strong> teaming up and taking out <strong>Caprice Coleman and Shane Taylor</strong>. Much like last week Taylor's size was a factor, but also like last week he was on the receiving end of a loss... though in this case it was because his partner took a Spinebuster straight to the mat and couldn't recover. </p><p> </p><p> Backstage <strong>James Mitchell</strong> tells the <strong>Horror Kings</strong>, "What once was lost has now been found, salvation lies at the end of the battered road" and says he dug into his past to find their opponents for Manhattan Mayhem...</p><p> </p><p> We get a flashback to last week when <strong>Austin Theory</strong> called <strong>Alex Shelley</strong> a bust. <strong>Shelley</strong> speaks after the flashback calling <strong>Theory</strong> an entitled, arrogant, young boy. He tells <strong>Theory</strong> that he heard him loud and clear, but actions speak louder than words... So at Manhattan Mayhem they'll go one on one...</p><p> </p><p> Backstage we see <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> arriving at the arena. As he walks in, <strong>Fred Yehi</strong> walks straight up to him and introduces himself.<strong> Ospreay</strong> says he's seen him wrestle before and fancies what he can do. <strong>Yehi</strong> mentions how the neck injury hindered him only slightly but that he is now out to prove himself. He asks <strong>Ospreay</strong> if he'll face him at Manhattan Mayhem. <strong>Ospreay</strong> shakes <strong>Yehi'</strong>s hand and tells him he's on.</p><p> </p><p> Back in the ring, <strong>The Addiction</strong> defeated <strong>The Best Friends</strong> in a silly but solid bout. <strong>Beretta and Chuckie T</strong> appeared to have things under control when suddenly <strong>Rocky Romero</strong> drew their attention to video screen where <strong>Dalton Castle's Boys</strong> were seen, unconscious in the back. There was a tattered Heavy Metal-style jacket laying next to them and then the screen flashed away to the words "<em>3.0</em>". As <strong>Dalton Castle</strong> ran to the back, <strong>The Best Friends</strong> were distracted enough by their friends departure that <strong>Frankie Kazarian </strong>could sneak in a quick roll-up for the victory. As the match ended the camera caught up with <strong>Dalton Castle</strong>. <strong>Castle</strong> was demanding to know who did this and said that at Manhattan Mayhem, The <strong>Bestest Friends</strong> are challenging <strong>SoCal Uncensored</strong>... and they can send anyone they want including this mystery attacker!</p><p> </p><p> In the television main event, <strong>Jay Lethal</strong> defeated <strong>Hangman Page</strong> in a great bout. Though Page lost, he showed great promise.</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p> </p><p> {Manhattan Mayhem has a bit of a smaller (six) card than usual but I think each of the matches has a good story and reason behind it, either currently or building to the future. I'll have a full preview up with the next post which will be an Honor Club post... speaking of that, this Honor Club post will feature the Women of Honor division and will showcase three new Women who will be featured on the monthly Honor Club shows. Women's Divisions are tricky and as part of a prize Powerbrock100 helped decide the direction of the division. Rather than just try to force feed them on TV shows, we've expanded the division a bit, brought in better talent (Sorry Jessie Brooks, and Mandy Leon), and they'll now standalone in an Honor Club write-up. Cody meanwhile has been in Japan claiming more titles and proving himself as Wrestling's Royalty. He returned to the ring and laid out Cobb with a sneak attack, cementing this rivalry and setting up what is bound to be an explosive main event. With Marty Scurll away in NJPW, Cody goes at this one alone, but as we've learned over the last year of this reign, Cody always is prepared, the question that now presents itself is, can Cody defeat Jeff Cobb, one on one.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <strong>Prediction Contest (Round Two of Quarter One 2019)</strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>ROH Tag Titles: No Gimmicks Needed {C} vs. The Young Bucks<br /></li><li>Alex Shelley vs. Austin Theory<br /></li><li>James Mitchell's Salvation: Horror Kings vs. ???<br /></li><li>SoCal Uncensored 2.0?/3.0? vs. The Bestest Friends<br /></li><li>Proving Ground Match: Fred Yehi vs. Will Ospreay<br /></li><li>ROH Title: Cody {C} vs. Jeff Cobb<br /> <br /> Bonuses:<br /> 1) Who is the newest member of SoCal Uncensored?<br /> 2) Who is the mystery team previously associated with James Mitchell?<br /></li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p> {Only six matches, so I tossed on two bonus questions. Four of the best wrestlers in the world went at it here and results were an opener that could have been the Main Event at almost any show in the world. Low-Ki and Matt Jackson started off in the ring and put on an impressive display of both technical acumen and high-spots, this led to a dual hot-tag and the Grand Slam Man, Jay Lethal took it right to Nick Jackson. Lethal got his team the upper hand and he and his partner began to work over the isolated Buck. Ultimately though Nick Jackson fought back and swung momentum back to his corner. Matt Jackson cleared house and naturally took to the air, taking out Low-Ki and Jay Lethal at ringside. Matt rolled Low-Ki back into the ring and tagged in Nick. They set up for a Meltzer Driver but as Matt bounced over the ropes, Lethal swept his legs out, thus changing the matches complexion. Low-Ki wriggled free of Nick's grasp and quickly struck him down... Ultimately this led to a double-team Street Sweeper in the middle, followed by Low-Ki hitting the Ki Krusher in unison with Lethal landing this Lethal Elbow on Nick Jackson and the 1-2-3 to retain.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Winners and Still ROH Tag Champions: No Gimmicks Needed</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Post-Match, <strong>Jay Lethal</strong> grabbed the microphone and said that tonight proved these two teams are the best in the world, and that <strong>The Young Bucks</strong> have earned another shot, whenever and wherever they want it.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Alex Shelley vs. Austin Theory</strong></p><p> <img alt="xudhQ89.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xudhQ89.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kTDXWu3.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kTDXWu3.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="s9YAEEZ.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/s9YAEEZ.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Our next bout pitted Shelley and Theory in a bout built around a feud of words. Neither man had ever laid hands on one another prior to this match, but we knew with Shelley involved it had a chance. Priscilla Kelly accompanied Austin Theory to the ring, but mostly kept to herself at ringside and didn't interfere in the bout, rather paying close attention to every move Theory made. Shelley on the other hand was out to prove he was far from a bust and that Theory was still 100% Unproven. In the end Shelley proved his theory correct and landed The Sliced Bread #2 on Theory for the 1-2-3. No fourth member appeared, and this prompted Dalton Castle to send his "Boys" to the back for "safe keeping". The match itself was similar to their last confrontation. The Bestest Friends took home the victory when Dalton Castle hit the Bang-A-Rang on Romero and The Best Friends had The Addiction members isolated... as the bell rang though it was clear that SoCal Uncensored had a plan regardless of the result... </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Winners: The Bestest Friends</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="nJDDVqu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/nJDDVqu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> We heard high-pitched screams and suddenly the hulking, 6'6" tatted from head to toe frame of <strong>Brody King</strong> came through the entrance dragging both <strong>Boys</strong> by their hair... Yehi wanted a shot to prove his worth to ROH officials and challenged Ospreay to a match. Win or lose, if Yehi shows well here he could secure a full-time gig with Ring of Honor and that was clearly his goal. Both men went all-out from the bell ringing, with Yehi countering a number of Ospreay's maneuvers and forcing Will to get creative. He hands his title belt to his wife Brandi and steps through the ropes knowing this will be a challenge for the ages. The announcers mention that when Cody last fought in Ring of Honor in December he had three allies by his side, but now Chris Sabin is gone, Marty Scurll is in Japan for the New Japan Cup and Davey Boy Smith Jr is at home recovering from injury. This is truly the weakest Cody's faction has been in its brief, but productive, lifespan. The bell rings and both men tie up... Cobb easily overpowers Cody and sends him back into the corner. Cobb unloads with a furious strike to the chest followed up by a suplex that sent Cody nearly across the ring... Cody quickly rolls out of the ring to try to recover but is immediately met by Cobb who now begins to beat Cody down outside the ring... He sends Cody into the ring barriers and then charges him, only for <strong>Brandi</strong> to step into the way and take the full brunt of the collision... she is down and out-cold and Jeff Cobb briefly loses focus, allowing Cody to get back into the fight and send the action back to the ring while his wife receives medical attention at <em>ringside</em>...</p><p> </p><p> From there the match became a cat and mouse game, or maybe more of a Lion and Gazelle game with the lion, Cobb using his strength to try to overmatch Cody, but the Gazelle, Cody, using his wit and ring-awareness to avert danger... Suddenly Cody had momentum and went for the Disaster Kick, leaping off the rope only to be caught, spun around and hit with the Tour of the Islands by Cobb... The crowd was stunned, what a show of strength... and what a crushing blow... Referee Todd Sinclair hit the mat...</p><p> </p><p> 1</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Cody somehow, someway powered through the cover and got his shoulder up... Cobb lifted him up off the mat and went for another Suplex, but Cody managed to wrap his leg around the leg... just then...</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Austin Theory and Priscilla Kelly</strong> made their way out to the ringside area... Theory grabbed a microphone, as the match was going on and addressed Cobb directly... </p><p> </p><p> "Jeff, Priscilla here pointed something out to me backstage... You see as the Top Prospect in Ring of Honor I've earned the right to face the television champ whenever I want... and well... you see, you seemed to just skip the line and I think that's just not that fair..."</p><p> </p><p> As he waxes poetic, Cobb turns his attention away from Cody for long enough that Cody manages to slide his way into the corner... On the floor the medical staff appears to have gotten Brandi back up, and thanks to smelling salts she appears to be coherent again... On the ring-stairs though a medical kit laid open and while Cobb, and referee Sinclair had their attention drawn to Theory, Cody reached in a grabbed some kind of powder....</p><p> </p><p> Meanwhile, <strong>Priscilla Kelly</strong> jumped up on the apron and grabbed <strong>Todd Sinclair,</strong> kissing him directly on the mouth... <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> meanwhile tuned out Theory, turning his attention back to Cody, only to be met by a face full of powder. Cody then hit a low-blow, dropping Cobb to a knee, Disaster Kick, cover... Sinclair turns around...</p><p> </p><p> 1</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 3</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Cody retains! The announcers plug that the finish was right out of Dusty Rhodes playbook and while it was dirty, the Champ has done what it took to retain.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Winner, and STILL ROH World Champion: Cody</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> As <strong>Cody</strong> celebrates, <strong>Austin Theory</strong> slides into the ring and delivers an Unproven Cutter to Jeff Cobb. He reaches his hand out to Cody and the two men shake. The show goes off the air with Cody and Austin Theory standing tall in the ring... Perhaps Royalty has found a new member...</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p> </p><p> {{{Tomorrow will be the Honor Club post featuring some bonus matches, the first Women of Honor matches, and the match ratings plus prediction contest update}}} {{{I'll be honest, the James Mitchell fodder was a definite red herring since I went the basically Jobbers route. The Lost Boys were a tag team Mitchell managed in the early 2000's that had some success in NWA Anarchy and Wildside, they are both still under 40 (and thus don't offend my owner goals) and both were active in my game world...so... they made a reunion to be fed to Mitchell's new group... after all they are possibly the only James Mitchell led group that didn't have any real commercial air time...Sorry haha}}} {{{Brody King is indeed the newest SoCal Uncensored member. As has became common-place Ferrara talked a big game but couldn't back it up... falling victim to Xion delivering a crushing blow for the 1-2-3. It was good to see Xion look strong, and with an upcoming tour of NJPW on the books he has a chance to re-establish himself moving forward!</p><p> </p><p> Our Honor Club main event featured a title match with <strong>The End</strong> easily defending the 6-man tag titles earlier this month against <strong>Jonathan Gresham and The Boys</strong>. <strong>Gresham</strong> has struggled to find a role in Ring of Honor, but he is a phenomenal technical wrestler and could find a role given the right situation. <strong>Odinson</strong> took care of the heavy lifting and <strong>Hammerstone</strong> delivered a Stone Breaker for the defense.</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> ___________________________________________________________</p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Second Session, First Quarter</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Now let's take a brief look at the Prediction Contest after the first two pay-per-views of 2019. With only Anniversary and Calle Del Dorado remaining in this quarter we are halfway there for the first session!</p><p> </p><p> Rhyme1234: 5/8 + 4/6 (+1 Bonus for Brody)</p><p> Powerbrock100: 7/8 + 3/6</p><p> BHK1978: 5/8 + 3/6</p><p> The Lariat: 6/8 + 4/6 (+1 Bonus for Brody)</p><p> Destiny: 3/8</p><p> Forrest01: 7/8 + 3/6 (+1 Bonus for Brody)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Quick hitters here</strong>: Brody was probably the clearest choice, though Brian Cage was an intriguing option. Again, I like Brody King, think he fits the group too with his Heavy Metal lifestyle that somehow, oddly, fits with Kaz. Might have oversold the James Mitchell storyline, wanted to make Horror Kings stronger. As for Austin Theory, whom all five predicted to win, sorry... hope the twist was worth it. Think he's the perfect complement to the now depleted Royalty. The young, arrogant, upstart with a chance to great... Shelley also benefited from the win. Onward and upward toward Anniversary!</p><p> </p><p> We have only three television episodes before Anniversary! We also will have the first Women of Honor Honor Club Exclusive! Hope you'll stay tuned!</p><p> </p><p> As a fun sidetone: Shortly I'll be launching a second diary based in this same universe. It's a way to highlight another promotion, and I think the style I write in will fit well with it. The ROH Diary will ABSOLUTELY remain the top story, but this "add-on" will be a fun little side-project... if it flops, it flops.</p>

<p>ROH TV: February Week 4 and March Week 1, 2019</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-size:18px;">ROH TV, February, Week 4, 2019</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>The show opened with a pissed-off Television Champion, <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong>, storming down to the ring and demanding that <strong>Austin Theory and Cody</strong> show their faces or face execution, Island Style. <strong>Theory and Cody</strong> don't show, but <strong>Cobb</strong> continues to call them out, and ultimately leaves the ring, unhappy and clearly not through with this fight.</p><p> </p><p> The first bout of the night featured the 6-man titles being put on the line by <strong>The End</strong> in what turned out to be a simple defense against <strong>Jonathan Gresham and Team Good Burger (Josh Woods and Cheeseburger)</strong>. <strong>The End</strong> looked strong here and continued their roll.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> catches up with <strong>Fred Yehi</strong>, he says that he was impressed by the fight that <strong>Yehi</strong> showed at Manhattan Mayhem and has secured him another match to impress ROH officials next week. It'll be Fred Yehi vs. Flip Gordon!</p><p> </p><p> Up next we had a handicap match featuring the newest member of SoCal Uncensored 3.0, <strong>Brody</strong>, taking on <strong>The Boys</strong>. <strong>Brody</strong> annihilated both <strong>Boys</strong> and treated them like rag dolls in a showing of brute strength.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage, <strong>Marty Scurll</strong> makes his return to the states and walks straight up to <strong>Austin Theory</strong>, both welcoming him to Royalty and telling him to watch and learn as he shows us how to defeat <strong>Alex Shelley</strong>.</p><p> </p><p> We get a live feed of <strong>Shiima Xion and Coast 2 Coast</strong> dressed up for a night on the town, they are walking down the street and see the club, as they queue up to enter the security stops them and says they can't enter... As the camera pans away we notice that the "security" is all wearing "King of Night Security" shirts and it appears to be <strong>Brian Milonas, Beer City Bruiser and Bob Evans</strong> manning the door... before the scene ends, <strong>Kenny King</strong> rolls up in a limo, hops out and walks straight to the front of the line, grabbing three beautiful women on his way in, his security pushes back the rest of the line and let's Kenny and the girls enter... <strong>Kenny</strong> turns around at the entrance and lets out a little dig at <strong>Shiima</strong>, "Better luck next time Buddy..."</p><p> </p><p> In our main event, <strong>Marty Scurll</strong> did exactly what he promised to do and defeated <strong>Alex Shelley</strong> for the second time in a month. The announcers mentioned that these two met during NJPW's New Japan Cup earlier this month and Scurll won that battle as well. The show went off the air with Scurll celebrating.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> _____________________________________________________________</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-size:18px;">ROH TV, March Week 1, 2019</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>The show opened this week with <strong>Fred Yehi</strong> getting another shot at impressing ROH officials, this time taking on <strong>Flip Gordon</strong>. <strong>Yehi</strong> kept <strong>Flip</strong> grounded through much of the match and forced <strong>Flip</strong> to tap out to the Koji Clutch earning the victory and applause from <strong>ROH CEO Cary Silkin</strong> at ringside... as he celebrated the victory, <strong>Matt Taven and The End</strong> hit the ring and absolutely destroyed both <strong>Yehi and Gordon</strong>... Before things got too out of hand, <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> came flying down the aisle with a chair in hand and chased them out of the ring, helping his friends to their feet and laying out a challenge for ROH Anniversary. If <strong>The End</strong> wants to pick a fight, they just picked a fight with <strong>Fred Yehi, Flip Gordon and Will Ospreay</strong>!</p><p> </p><p> Back from break <strong>BJ Whitmer</strong> led his charge, <strong>"The Workhorseman" Anthony Henry</strong> to the ring for a contest with <strong>Rhett Titus</strong>... Titus made his way down to the ring sucking on a lollipop and offered it to a girl in the front row, which was well... creepy. The girl refused and Titus just left it on the ring steps... Unfortunately for him he found a rough and ready combatant in the ring and <strong>Anthony Henry</strong> delivered a beatdown, culminating with a Spinebuster in the middle of the ring for the 1-2-3.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Cody, Marty Scurll, Austin Theory, Brandi Rhodes and Priscilla Kelly</strong> made their way down to the ring. <strong>Cody</strong> talked about how <strong>Royalty</strong> evolves over time and while this evolution may have happened sooner than anticipated he knew the group was stronger than ever. He talks about how in the last two months he's done what some said was impossible. He defeated <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> and retained the ROH World Title. He defeated <strong>Bad Luck Fale</strong> and captured the NEVER Openweight Title, and he defeated the <strong>Tanga Roa and Yujiro Takahashi </strong>to capture the IWGP Tag Title... He proudly displays all three titles.. and now...before he can continue, <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> is out and says he promised to show Royalty an Island Style execution if they showed their faces. As Cobb makes his way to the ring, <strong>two large figures</strong> in black hoodies jump the ring-barriers behind <strong>Royalty</strong> (who is all facing Cobb on the stage)... <strong>Cobb</strong> says by that he meant he's brought a <strong>Firing Squad</strong>... The two men jump in and lay out <strong>Cody, Theory and Scurll</strong> from behind, <strong>Cobb</strong> slides in, lifts <strong>Cody</strong> and hits the Tour of the Islands. The two men rip off their hoods to reveal <strong>Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Roa</strong> from NJPW and the <strong>Bullet Club: Firing Squad</strong> standing in the ring. <strong>Fale</strong> lifts the lifeless <strong>Scurll</strong> and hits the Bad Luck Fall, while <strong>Tanga Roa</strong> locks in a Tongan Death Grip on Theory's skull... <strong>Cobb</strong> tosses <strong>Cody'</strong>s body out of the ring while <strong>Fale</strong> and <strong>Roa</strong> do the same with their victims... They collectively grab the belts they feel are rightfully theirs, with <strong>Cobb</strong> holding the World title, <strong>Roa</strong> the tag and <strong>Fale</strong> the Openweight... <strong>Cobb</strong> grabs the microphone and says, "At Anniversary, i've got my backup... You three clowns vs. Us three" They toss the titles down, and walk out as we cut to break.</p><p> </p><p> Somehow needing to top the explosive promo we send it to the ring where <strong>Dalton Castle</strong> has challenged <strong>Brody</strong> to a one on one bout with no partners accompanying them... Before this one can get going <strong>The Boys</strong> run down and attack <strong>Brody</strong>, though he basically fly-swats them away... but this prompted the rest of <strong>SoCal Uncensored</strong> and <strong>The Bestest Friends</strong> to hit the ring and we had a full-on brawl. The referee couldn't sort it out and ultimately security had to pull the two groups apart. This one is a no contest.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage we see <strong>Shiima Xion</strong> running to get somewhere, before he can cut the corner he is stopped by <strong>Brian Milonas, Beer City Bruiser and Bob Evans,</strong> collectively "<em>King of the Night Security</em>" they hold <strong>Xion</strong> back while <strong>Kenny King</strong> exits the arena to an awaiting limo. <strong>Xion</strong> flips out and yells flippantly towards <strong>King</strong>... <strong>King</strong> steps out of the limo and says that he's happy to end <strong>Xion</strong>'s dreams of being a star in ROH... but it'll have to wait until Anniversary.</p><p> </p><p> In the main event, <strong>Nick Jackson</strong> defeated <strong>Low-Ki </strong>in a great one on one. <strong>Jackson</strong> hit the 450 Splash to secure the victory but both men looked great and both teams look primed for their next collision at Anniversary!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

In the end it was Shelley getting the pinfall, but his victory celebration was short lived as <strong>James Mitchell</strong> ordered <strong>Damien "Punishment" Martinez</strong> to attack and then told the nearly unconscious Shelley that "The Road to Salvation for the Horror Kings runs right through a man who has been wildly successful in tag-team wrestling... At Anniversary the <strong>Horror Kings</strong> are challenging <strong>Alex Shelley</strong> to bring a partner of his choosing and face them..."</p><p> </p><p> We see a highlight from last weeks surprise attack by <strong>Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Roa</strong> along with <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> on <strong>Cody, Marty Scurll and Austin Theory</strong>. <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> then speaks in a pre-taped interview saying <strong>Royalty </strong>has met the <strong>Firing Squad</strong> and now these Island Boys are coming for what is should be around their waists. At Anniversary, 6-man tag, <strong>Royalty vs. Jeff Cobb, Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Roa</strong>. Redemption.</p><p> </p><p> Back to the ring where <strong>Coast 2 Coast</strong> is in action and gets a rare televised win defeating the much heavier but much slower <strong>Brian Milonas and Beer City Bruiser. Bruiser and Milonas </strong>have recently been moonlighting as <strong>Kenny King</strong>'s personal security and the announcers highlight that <strong>Coast 2 Coast</strong> was with <strong>Shiima Xion</strong> a few weeks back when the "King of the Night Security" refused them entry into the club. He says at Anniversary he wants to face <strong>Brody</strong>, one on one, but this time it'll be a Fight without Honor.</p><p> </p><p> In the television main event <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> defeated <strong>Matt Taven</strong>. <p>Honor Club Exclusive: Women of Honor Showcase and Anniversary Pay-Per-View Preview</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Honor Club Exclusive:March Women of Honor Showcase</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p>As we've been hinting to over the past month or so our television pre-shows for the live audience have featured some of the best wrestlers in the Women's Wrestling scene competing and now those matches are available to you on-demand through the Honor Club!</p><p> </p><p> To set the scene before we take a look at those matches we'd like to introduce four new faces to the Women of Honor roster that should be familiar to us all!</p><p> </p><p> First and foremost <strong>Britani Knight</strong>, the former Paige in WWE was one of a host of Women wrestlers the WWE moved away from in 2018. Britani really connects with the young female demographic and despite some troubles in 2016-17 seems to be back on track and ready to take to the ring once again.</p><p> </p><p> Next up is another former WWE Champion, <strong>Lexi Kaufman</strong>, formerly known as Alexa Bliss. The former competitive gymnast has a mean streak and ability to match in the ring. She left the WWE in late January when it became clear they were going to consolidate the division.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Athena</strong>, known to WWE fans as Ember Moon, Athena reached the top of NXT but after only a brief run on the main roster fell victim to the companies decision to consolidate the division as a whole. All three will be in action multiple times throughout this months showcase!</p><p> </p><p> Last but not least is the Master of Disguise, or at least imitation, <strong>Leva Bate</strong>s. Leva had a brief jobber stint in NXT as "Blue Pants" and has since made her name for her Cosplaying and in-ring ability! She's been a star in SHIMMER and is ready for the spotlight.</p><p> </p><p> Our opener was a Six-Women Tag bout from Manhattan Mayhem's pre-show: It featured the WOH Champion <strong>Nattie Neidhart</strong> teaming with <strong>Athena and Britani Knight</strong> to face <strong>Lexi Kaufman, Kelly Klein and Tenille Dashwood.</strong> Solid match here that saw Britani get the win for her team with the Knight Light on Kelly Klein. </p><p> </p><p> Our second bout featured <strong>Athena and Leva Bates</strong> teaming up against <strong>Lexi Kaufman and Kelly Klein,</strong> this was an above average tag match and saw all three newcomers get their stuff in, but in the end it was Lexi hopping off the apron and leaving the ring that left Kelly Klein to the wolves and allowing Athena to hit the Eclipse for the victory. As Lexi left the apron she said that Kelly Klein would only hold her back and she had no interest in being held down.</p><p> </p><p> Fresh off a victory the next match was <strong>Leva Bate</strong>s taking on<strong> Britani Knight</strong>. The fans were in love with Britani and her domination here only made them love her more and more. She won with ease with the Knight Light and post-match challenged <strong>Nattie Neidhart</strong> to a future title shot...</p><p> </p><p> The fourth bout available to subscribers was <strong>Kelly Klein</strong> in singles action taking on <strong>Athena</strong>. In this bout she got a measure of revenge and actually forced Athena to tap out to a Guillotine Choke. Post-match she grabbed a microphone and challenged Lexi Kaufman to a one on one match. Instead of that Nattie Neidhart came out and announced that she was told she could pick her opponent for Anniversary, so she set-up a Triple Threat to determine her opponent... It'll be <strong>Kelly Klein vs. Lexi Kaufman vs. Britani Knight</strong></p><p> </p><p> The final bout of the showcase was the #1 contendership triple threat. <strong>Kelly Klein</strong> made her way out first to limited reaction, the announcers hyped her ability to choke anyone out and her size in comparison to the other two girls. <strong>Britani Knight</strong> was out next to a huge applause. She high-fives everyone and gets a big pop when she enters the ring. Last is <strong>Lexi Kaufman</strong> who has no time for anyone and does her typical pose and snarl. The bout itself is a solid back and forth with all three women have opportunities to win. In the end <strong>Britani</strong> sends Lexi over the top rope and then catches Klein with the Knight Light for the 1-2-3... She will face <strong>Nattie Neidhart</strong> at Anniversary!</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Ring of Honor: 17th Anniversary Pay-Per-View Preview</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Kenny King vs. Shiima Xion</strong></p><p> </p><p> Definitely not your typical pay-per-view contest but this one has been boiling under the surface for the last two months. Shiima Xion patterns himself as a solid DJ who loves clubs, Kenny King is a the King of the Night and feels like he can go anywhere he wants. Recently King has employed over 1000 pounds of humanity in the form of his three-man security detail and in turn made life a living hell for Xion who is merely trying to impress ROH officials and continue to earn opportunities here. This one is bound to be high-flying and is a good showcase for both men.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Fight Without Honor: Brody vs. Dalton Castle</strong></p><p> </p><p> SoCal Uncensored 3.0 is the new and improved "Heavy Metal" version of SoCal Uncensored and Brody is the enforcer the group has been missing. Over the last month he's tormented and annihilated Dalton Castle's Boys leading to a fight between Castle and Brody that never got off the ground and devolved into an all out brawl... This in turn has resulted in Dalton Castle challenging Brody to a Fight Without Honor to both prove his worth to The Boys and continue to cement his bond with The Best Friends. As for Brody, this is a chance to enforce his will on the smaller Castle and in the process re-establish the SoCal Uncensored band as a trio (or quad) to be feared.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Women of Honor Title: Nattie Neidhart {C} vs. Britani Knight</strong></p><p> </p><p> The Women of Honor division has floundered a bit but in early 2019 Ring of Honor made the decision to move the brand as a whole to the Honor Club online. They also went out and signed four new Women and put out the first "showcase" this month. This showcase was filmed over the last month and in turn fans may have been a bit tired of seeing the same couple faces but in the end, all fans love a good comeback and Britani Knight is ready to prove that she has what it takes to bring the division into the new era. For Nattie this is a chance to continue to show that she is one of the best Women's wrestlers we have seen in the last decade and that she will be the face that runs Women of Honor showcases moving forward.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Horror Kings vs. Alex Shelley and ???</strong></p><p> </p><p> Three weeks ago James Mitchell gave his Horror Kings a task to clear the path to Salvation and challenged them to get over certain roadblocks. The first of which were Mitchell's Lost Boys from the early 2000's independent scene. Now with the bigger scene of Anniversary, Mitchell has targeted a tag team legend left without a partner in Alex Shelley. After a post-match assault, Mitchell told Shelley to bring any parter from his past to face his Horror Kings. Who will Shelley bring? And will Shelley and his partner be able to overcome the Horror Kings?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>ROH Six-Man Titles: The End {C} vs. Will Ospreay/Fred Yehi/Flip Gordon</strong></p><p> </p><p> Last month Fred Yehi set out to prove to Ring of Honor officials he deserved a full-time roster spot and challenged Will Ospreay. While he was unsuccessful in defeating Ospreay, he impressed Ospreay enough to earn an ally. One who went to bat for him and got him another opportunity with a match against Flip Gordon. After a solid bout and victory, Yehi earned himself a full-time role, but post-match Gordon and Yehi were attacked by The End, which prompted Will Ospreay to make the same and create a new trio to challenge Odinson, Hammerstone and Matt Taven for their belts. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>ROH Tag Titles: No Gimmicks Needed {C} vs. The Young Bucks</strong></p><p> </p><p> Last month these two teams tore the roof off the Manhattan Center producing the best match in Ring of Honor's recent history. Post-Match Jay Lethal promised them a rematch and after Nick Jackson defeated Low-Ki two weeks ago on ROH TV it was decided that the rematch would take place here at Anniversary. While the combatants haven't changed and the stakes are the same, we can guarantee this one will once again have a chance to steal the show. The only question left is who will walk out with the belts?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Main Event: Royalty (Cody, Austin Theory and Marty Scurll) vs. Jeff Cobb, Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Roa</strong></p><p> </p><p> For the first three months of 2019 there has been two prevailing themes in Ring of Honor. One, Jeff Cobb is a force that takes extreme effort to conquer and two, Cody will do whatever it takes to win and claim belts, anywhere in the world. Last month these two collided and Jeff Cobb had Cody on the ropes, but some assistance from an unlikely source, Austin Theory and Priscilla Kelly, led to Cody taking a dirty route to retaining. Cobb's fury was unleashed when he promised a Firing Squad would execute royalty Island Style and a week later we found out that he literally meant it when NJPW's Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Roa, both former allies of Cody, and both victims of Cody's recent run of title wins, debuted and assaulted Royalty. Looking to settle the score, this 6-man tag has colossal stakes for all involved.</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>ROH Anniversary Quick Picks (Third Segment of the First Quarter)</strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>Kenny King vs. Shiima Xion<br /></li><li>Fight Without Honor: Brody vs. Dalton Castle<br /></li><li>Women of Honor Title: Nattie Neidhart {C} vs. Britani Knight<br /></li><li>Horror Kings vs. Alex Shelley and ???<br /></li><li>ROH Six-Man Titles: The End {C} vs. Will Ospreay/Fred Yehi/Flip Gordon<br /></li><li>ROH Tag Titles: No Gimmicks Needed {C} vs. The Young Bucks<br /></li><li>Main Event: Royalty (Cody, Austin Theory and Marty Scurll) vs. Jeff Cobb, Bad Luck Fale and Tanga Roa<br /></li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p> Bonuses</p><p> 1) Who will Alex Shelley bring as his partner?</p><p> 2) Which individual will get the victory for his team in the Main Event?</p>
