Ring of Honor Presents: SMASH! The Halls

Ring of Honor Presents: SMASH! The Halls

Live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and available exclusively on the Honor Club

The show opened up with Will Ospreay's "World Tour 2020" kicking off with Ospreay securing a victory via OsCutter over "Speedball" Mike Bailey. With the victory, Ospreay can check off "Canada" on his passport of victories!

Backstage, Jeff Cobb is approached by Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley. Sabin congratulates Cobb on the victory against him at Final Battle and says that he and Shelley really feel like Cobb is the "Next Big Thing in Ring of Honor"... Cobb sneers and says "he isn't the Next Big Thing, he is the BIG THING" and he's looking for a fight.

In the Top Prospect Tournament qualifier, Brent Banks punched his ticket to the dance when he defeated Artemis Spencer. Reality TV star RJ City was also in the bout, but didn't really do that much. Arty Spencer has been a big name in the Northwest but here, SMASH's own Brent Banks delivered the Alley-Oop DDT for the victory.

The Television Title was defended by Nick Aldis against SMASH!'s Champion Tyson Dux in a really solid back and forth bout. Aldis locked the King's Lynn Cloverleaf and forced Dux to tap out.

Backstage Low-Ki confronted Jeff Cobb and told him he better watch what he says in the back because these "walls can talk" and Low-Ki's heard that Cobb is looking for a fight.

In a disappointing bout, PJ Black won the Fatal-Four-Way pinning Idris Abraham. Gabriel Fuerza and Flamita were also in the bout and Flamita was the most interesting of the non-ROH stars. In fact, we've heard that Flamita has been approached about making some additional appearances.

Flip Gordon started his 2020 with a solid victory against Rocky Romero. Flip told the camera that 2020 would be his year, with or without his friends.

Backstage Jay Lethal was interviewed by the cameraman. Lethal said that at Final Battle he left his heart and soul in the ring but couldn't defeat his "Best Rival, and a man he truly respects, Low-Ki". He said that his body is a little beat-up but that after the Top Prospect Tournament, he'll be stepping back into ring and beginning his quest for more gold here in Ring of Honor. The interviewer immediately asked if he'd be targeting any specific belt, and Lethal smiled and just said "I'm after any and all the gold."

The next bout saw Brian Myers steal a victory from Dalton Castle with a little bit of help from Kenny King and Shane Taylor. Despite the loss, Castle looked really strong and controlled much of the bout. Myers was dead to rights until King and Taylor stepped in.

The Top Guys defended the ROH Tag Titles successful in a solid bout against The Fraternity. The Fraternity have been occasional talents we've seen a few times in 2019, but The Top Guys have their name for a reason and they kicked the new decade off with a win.

Post-bout the Motor City Machine Guns made their way out and challenged The Top Guys to a title bout at Top Prospect Tournament. The Top Guys said "we'll never back down from a fight... so hell yeah"

In the main event, Mark Haskins and The Briscoe Brothers scored a victory over Villain Enterprises in a great main event. The ROH World Champion scored the pinfall on Thomas Latimer leaving Marty Scurll distraught following a loss. As the show went off the air AJ Kirsch told us he's heard that the first main event of ROH TV 2020 will feature four of the victors from tonight (PJ Black, Flip Gordon, Will Ospreay and Brian Myers) in a fatal-four-way with the winner getting an ROH World Title shot at the Top Prospect Tournament.

Road to Top Prospect Tournament (ROH TV January 2020 Recap and Honor Club Specials)

ROH TV Week 1, 2020

The year opened up with the Motor City Machine Guns in the ring and announce their return to the tag division. They said that 2020 would be the best year yet for tag team wrestling and that they wanted to prove it by facing The Top Guys for the titles at the Top Prospect Tournament in three weeks. The Top Guys come out and accept the challenge, but before they leave the ring they get in the Guns face and hold the titles high in the air.

In the opening bout, Jeff Cobb manhandled RJ City in under a minute, leaving his body motionless in the ring. Cobb refused to leave the ring and continued to beatdown the jobber, which prompted Low-Ki to make his way out to the ring and tell Cobb to pick on someone who can actually put up a fight...

In our next squash, Brody King annihilated Cheeseburger. Truth Martini, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett made their way out and offered King a spot in The Kingdom but he just walked right past them and to the back.

In the next bout Anthony Henry scored a pinfall over Tom Lawlor in a quick-paced technical bout. Lawlor went for a submission but Henry leveraged him to the ground for a quick 1-2-3.

Backstage, Rocky Romero is introducing his "NJPW pick" for the Top Prospect Tournament, Karl Fredericks... he doesn't get fair into the introduction when "Swipe Right" Joe Keys enters the frame and makes some ludicrous claims about his success rate on dating apps carrying over to the ring...

The main event was a Fatal-4-Way featuring four winners from SMASH The Halls with the winner earning a title shot at Top Prospect Tournament. Will Ospreay secured the opportunity when he pinned Brian Myers. Flip Gordon and PJ Black were also in the high-paced, high-flying bout. So at Top Prospect Tournament it'll be Jay Briscoe vs. Will Ospreay for the ROH World title.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

ROH TV Week 2, January 2020

The show opens with Jay Briscoe making his way out to the ring, he says that he knows Will Ospreay is a world-beater, who travels the globe and proves he's the man, but he's never been able to capture the big gold belt around his waist. He knows that Ospreay isn't here for the next two weeks, and that he'd be flying back exclusively for the title shot, so he'll be jet-lagged. But before that, Jay Briscoe says there is a man who earned a title shot, and next weeks main event will be Jay Briscoe defending the title against Mark Haskins.

The opening bout featured Mike Bennett defeating Joe Hendry in a fun bout. Post-bout, The Kingdom of Truth calls for Brody King to join them in the ring... but instead they are jumped from behind by The End. Odinson and Hammerstone clear the ring of The Kingdom of Truth and roar victoriously.

Coast 2 Coast defeated The Bouncers in the next bout. LSG looked like a future star here and was buzzing the whole bout. Post-bout though, the lights went out and when they returned LSG and Shaheem Ali were out-cold in the ring covered in blood... Red Balloons suddenly poured out from underneath the ring and floated to the ceiling.

Back from break we see Flip Gordon and PJ Black in the ring, this one is announced as a Six-Man tag match but the third partner is unknown... Mark Briscoe makes his way out to the shock of the fans and makes it known he's the third man in the bout. They face off against Marty Scurll, Thomas Latimer and Davey Boy Smith Jr (Villain Enterprises). This one was a banger of a bout. Mark Briscoe scored the win for his team, pinning Thomas Latimer. Briscoe left the ring immediately post-bout but looked very satisfied with his handiwork.

Cameras ran backstage where Team Filthy were laying the boots to BJ Whitmer. Lawlor looked into the cameras and promised more pain and suffering for the Workhorsemen in the months to come.

In the main event, Low-Ki teamed with the Top Guys to take on Jeff Cobb and the Motor City Machine Guns. This was another great TV bout as Cobb and Low-Ki really went at it with Low-Ki seeming to get the upper hand. At one point he sent Cobb from the ring, which prompted Cobb to walk out. Now a 3 on 2, Low-Ki and the Top Guys took advantage and won the bout, pinning Chris Sabin.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROH TV January 2020, Week 3

The show opened with a Top Prospect Tournament preliminary bout between NJPW's Karl Fredericks and CMLL's Flyer. Flyer scored the victory with a huge Swanton Bomb across Fredericks chest. Despite this, Fredericks looked strong and will likely be seen again in the future.

Jeff Cobb is backstage and asked about leaving the match last week. Cobb said he's a man and never backs down from a fight, but that wasn't a fair fight. He said his partners were holding him down but that at Top Prospect Tournament Cobb will not only win, he'll rip Low-Ki limb from limb. And if he doesn't, then Jeff Cobb will not be able to challenge for ANY title for six months.

In another TPT Preliminary bout, the "Retrosexual" Anthony Greene defeated "Loverboy" Lochy Hendricks in a bout that wasn't really entertaining. Anthony Greene was accompanied to the ring by a busty blonde girl named "Kammi" and that may have been the highlight for many in the stands... As Greene made his way backstage he and Kammi bumped into Dalton Castle who was with a similar looking gal he called "Candy". Dalton high-fives Greene and the men and women wandered off in a strange, non-ROH standard, scene.

Back to the ring, The Workhorsemen (Anthony Henry and JD Drake) defeated Josh Woods and Tom Lawlor in a tag bout. As they continued to build their feud and avenge BJ Whitmer.

Will Ospreay sent a message from London where he is competing for RPW tonight saying that he'll be on a flight in a couple hours and will be heading straight for the arena tomorrow where he will take-on, and take-out whomever is the champion after tonight's main event...

ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe defended the title successful against "Overkill" Mark Haskins in a solid main event that will lead us into Top Prospect Tournament nicely. Haskins has been solid recently and is building himself up as a bigger star in the future.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Honor Club Exclusives January 2020

There were a couple Honor Club exclusives that led into the Top Prospect Tournament.

In a bout meant to highlight "Mile High Magnum" Dak Draper, he defeated Artemis Spencer.

We also had two preliminary Top Prospect Tournament Qualifier bouts that were shown. First, Chris Bey defeated Tito Escondido in a sloppy bout. Chris Bey is athletically gifted and that was showcased.

In the second bout we had a dual of second-generation stars as Cody Hall defeated Austin Gunn. Gunn is very green but will likely stick around with Future of Honor. As for Cody Hall, he's looked good in his time in Japan, and this is his first real chance to further showcase himself stateside.

Excited to see more ROH. Chris Bey is a dude I’ve gotten to see in SoCal, do him getting a shot in the TPT means I’ll be rooting for him every step of the way. Shame about Bad Dude Tito, but it is what it is.

Cobb vs. Low Ki should be a hard hit to big match. Expecting big things from both soon.

Big time, I really enjoy Chris Bey, saw him live in Arizona this summer and just saw so much potential in him... I wound up having to add him to the game (as I've done with a number of guys to keep the game world fresh and updated) and knew I'd want him in this tournament. Guy just drips natural charisma (too bad the game disagrees at the moment lol).

As for Low-Ki vs. Cobb... I'm holding out hope that real ROH's Past vs Present show may go down that road.

Top Prospect Tournament 2020 Preview

2020 Top Prospect Tournament Preview

Over the last decade the Ring of Honor Top Prospect Tournament has launched numerous future stars, with the 2020 edition we seek to once again find that next breakout star!

This years edition will feature the eight remaining superstars taking part in four singles bouts, with the winners facing off in an elimination four-way bout to crown the new "Top Prospect". Those eight men are as follows:

1) "Mile High Magnum" Dak Draper

A former WWE Development wrestler, the 6'5" 245 pound Draper hails from Denver, Colorado and proudly calls himself Magnum to represent the size, speed and force he brings when he steps in the ring...

2) "Show Stealer" Nathan Cruz

A British high-flyer with a reputation for impressing in the UK, including matches with the WWE and Impact when they visited, will make his US debut after 11 years professionally. The Show Stealer won this spot last month in an Honor Club exclusive bout that took place at our partners RevPro's show in December.

3) "Swipe Right" Joe Keys

Arrogant, cocky, and a man who things that well... everyone "including the fatties" will always be swiping right.. Keys made his name in CHIKARA as a bit of a comedy character but ever since he's debuted his true persona, Joe Keys has truly blossomed. Joe Keys is obnoxious and has made his presence known a couple times in the last month, but this will be his first real shot to star in an ROH ring.

4) "Retrosexual" Anthony Greene

Speaking of Sexual... think 1980's pornstar with Zubaz on and you'll have a decent idea what Anthony Greene brings to the table. This is sleaze personified in a different way. He's frequently seen with multiple women by his side. Greene and his mysterious associate "Kammi" secured the bag with a win over Lochy Hendricks. And now he seems to have an association with Dalton Castle...

5) "Double Platinum" Chris Bey

Young, brash, and living up to the hype. Chris Bey loves to say that every girl loves the Ultimate Finesser. At only 24 years old, Bey has the look and skills to be a huge breakout star, but he'll need to put it together in the ring to earn the ROH Television Title shot. Bey defeated fellow southwestern star, Tito Escondido, to qualify.

6) Cody Hall

The son of Cody Hall has carved out his own niche in Japan as an enforcer for various stables. Having worked for NJPW, Dragon Gate, Zero-1, and NOAH. Cody Hall debuted stateside with Lucha Underground earlier this year. The 6'8" monster will be a force in this tournament.

7) Flyer

Representing our partner CMLL, Flyer is one of the better young, well, fliers to be wrestling the Lucha Libre style in CMLL. Fans say his speed will wow, but his aerials will awe. Flyer won his preliminary bout, defeating the NJPW representative, Karl Fredericks.

8) Brent Banks

Last but not least, our friends at SMASH! have sent Brent Banks, an athletic 6'3" 185 pounds lightweight with speed and athleticism on his side. Banks was on a big upward trajectory in 2018 after joining IMPACT Wrestling, but he left Impact in early 2019 after falling out of favor and now looks to reboot here with ROH.

In addition to the five matches related to the tournament we will also have a number of bouts that will shape the direction of Ring of Honor in 2020.

Jeff Cobb vs. Low-Ki

This bout was started after Cobb claimed to be the Big Thing in ROH and was bullying opponents after victories. Low-Ki stepped up and took umbrage to Cobb's barren attacks. The next week Jeff Cobb walked out on his partners in a six-man tag bout after Low-Ki was taking advantage of him. Jeff Cobb took offense to the question that he was afraid of taking on Low-Ki face to face to which Cobb leveled the stipulation that if he doesn't beat Low-Ki he'll not challenge for any title in Ring of Honor for the next six months. Low-Ki with nothing to lose, gladly accepted the challenge.

The Top Guys {C} vs. The Motor City Machine Guns

ROH Tag Titles on the line as The Top Guys put the titles on the line against the returning Motor City Machine Guns. Six months ago the Top Guys captured the titles in a great bout at Glory by Honor beating the Briscoes, since then they defeated all comers but now they face a team that has captured titles all over the world, including Ring of Honor in a bout that promises to capture the attention of fans around the world.

Jay Briscoe {C} vs. Will Ospreay

Fresh off a stirring victory over his brother at Final Battle, Jay Briscoe promised to be a fighting champion in 2020 and will do battle with Will Ospreay who earned this opportunity by winning a fatal-four-way featuring four winners from our first special event of the year, SMASH! The Halls. Will Ospreay is on what he calls a world tour, and has already began checking the boxes.

Who will win the Top Prospect Tournament and earn both a full-time ROH Contract and a title shot at the ROH Television title? Tune in to the Top Prospect Tournament and find out.

Bey is a bit of a long shot, but he’s young and can easily learn from the roster. Cobb losing opens up a few interesting stories, which is why I chose MCMG to lose; if Cobb can’t challenge for a title, he won’t let others challenge either. Ospreys comes close but loses a close contest, though I could see him winning the belt before the end of 2020. Hoping Scurll gets a good sized push as well, as turning on Royalty felt like things were in store, but it’s yet to materialize. Maybe I just need to be patient on that one.

Regarding Bey, why not update his stats to reflect his talent? I know I’ve had to do that in a few games, notably with people in Who’s Mod (not a knock, but quite a few have base stats in everything rather than unique stats).

ROH Top Prospect Tournament 2020

Ring of Honor: Top Prospect Tournament 2020

January Week 3, 2020

Live from Center Stage in Atlanta, GA

We are live and we immediately head to ringside where Ian Riccaboni, Rob Naylor and AJ Kirsch are situated, they run us through the competitors remaining in the Top Prospect Tournament and then send us to the ring. Our opening bout is scheduled for one fall and if Jeff Cobb falls to win, he cannot challenge for any title for six months.

If Jeff Cobb loses, he cannot challenge for any title for six months.

Jeff Cobb vs. Low-Ki

Zc5ON97.jpgkTDXWu3.jpgxj4swgH.jpg

Jeff Cobb just hasn't caught that big break since joining Ring of Honor a little over a year ago and running roughshod through much of the competition, and despite climbing the mountain and contending for the ROH World title he hasn't captured it yet, but that hasn't stopped his arrogance from growing and his smugness from rubbing some the wrong way, including his opponent Low-Ki., who himself has earned a reputation for his bad attitude. This one was guaranteed to be hard-hitting and it delivered from the opening bell with both men exchanging knife-edge chops. Back and forth it went with Cobb using his strength to his advantage, but Low-Ki using his wit and speed to keep Cobb at bay. The finishing sequence occurred when Jeff Cobb caught Low-Ki from behind and went to toss him over his head in a release German Suplex, Low-Ki flipped through and landed on his feet. Immediately delivering a kick to the backside of Cobb's knee, bringing him down to one knee. Low-Ki hit a Shining Wizard and then lifted Cobb and using all of his strength hit the Ki-Krusher 99 for the 1-2-3 victory, leaving Cobb bewildered in the ring while Low-Ki celebrated.

Low-Ki defeated Jeff Cobb in a great opening bout via Ki Krusher 99 (****).

MATCH OF THE NIGHT

The Top Prospect Tournament kicked off the first of four preliminary bouts.

TPT Preliminary

Anthony Greene vs. Chris Bey

Greene was accompanied by Kammi and was adorned in some ridiculous early 1990's Zubaz, he is the Retrosexual after all. His opponent, Chris Bey seemed more interested in flirting and as he said Finessing with Kammi and Greene took advantage scoring a roll-up victory to advance to the fatal-four-way final.

Anthony Greene defeated Chris Bey via rollup (* 3/4)

Backstage, Odinson and Hammerstone have Truth Martini cornered, when Matt Taven and Mike Bennett make the save... The End and The Kingdom brawl off the screen and as the camera pans away we see Brody King sitting on a production box holding a stack of red balloons smiling like a possessed man...

9HhlNec.jpg?2

TPT Preliminary

Brent Banks vs. Dak Draper

The next preliminary bout was even worst than the first in terms of in-ring quality. The fans hated this one, though thankfully it was quick as the "Mile High Magnum" Dak Draper won the bout and moved to the finals.

Dak Draper defeated Brent Banks (DUD).

Backstage Bobby Cruise catches up with "The Dawgs" Will Ferrara and Rhett Titus. The two men mention they were once Top Prospects and they are in the house to enjoy the show... strange, but nice tie-in...

TPT Preliminary

Flyer vs. Joe Keys

The next preliminary bout helped us move back into the right direction in terms of the quality of the bout. Flyer is a really impressive high flier from CMLL who appears to be targeted for big things moving forward. "Swipe Right" Joe Keys might think he's the king of dating apps, but he's actually impressive in ring and has some developing charisma. In this one he scored the victory with the "X Out" DDT, a modified Hammerlock DDT.

Joe Keys defeated Flyer with the "X Out" DDT (**)

We see all three members of the 6-Man Tag champions, Team Filthy at ringside. The announcers mention that all three of them are former competitors in the Top Prospect Tournament!

TPT Preliminary

Cody Hall vs. Nathan Cruz

In the final preliminary match, Cody Hall dominated Nathan Cruz in another DUD of a bout. He hit the Outsider's Edge for the victory and quickly moved on.

Cody Hall defeated Nathan Cruz via Outsider's Edge (DUD)

We get a promo from Villain Enterprises as Marty Scurll handles the talking while Davey Boy Smith Jr and Thomas Latimer stand menacingly behind him. Scurll promises that heroes may die, but villains live forever and soon we will all see what he means...

ROH Tag Titles

Motor City Machine Guns vs. The Top Guys {C}

On a show that has the primary purpose of developing and showcasing future stars you need to mix in a couple bouts to keep the fans from turning off the show. This one fit the bill as this was a great showcase of pure wrestling skills from both teams. Ultimately this one served to build up the The Top Guys more while still keeping the Motor City Machine Guns relevant. The Top Guys hit the Shatter Machine for the victory, breaking the boys from the Motor City in the process and retaining the tag titles...

The Top Guys retained the ROH Tag Titles via Shatter Machine over the Motor City Machine Guns (***3/4)

We get a promo from Jay Lethal stating that he's been watching the tapes from 2019 and studying a number of superstars in Ring of Honor that he feels are unheralded, he says as his next act, he's handpicking a new partner and coming for the Tag Titles with another partner.

Top Prospect Tournament Finals

Anthony Greene vs. Cody Hall vs. Dak Draper vs. Joe Keys

Well... this one could have been worse, so that's one way to look at it. Over the last two tournaments we saw both Odinson and Austin Theory come out of the tournament as new stars in Ring of Honor... this one featured four men that all wanted to reach that pinnacle and earn both the contract and the title shot at the ROH Television title. This was an elimination bout and the first elimination came when Cody Hall hit the Outsider's Edge on Dak Draper and eliminated him.

Eliminated: Dak Draper

With three in the ring, Anthony Greene took a break to go chat with his "Hunnies" at ringside, and as Kammi was rubbing his back, Joe Keys slid into the DM's, and by that I mean hit a baseball slide that sent Greene facefirst into Kammi's chest. Greene seemed fine, but Cody Hall stepped out of the ring and dragged Greene back in, delivering another Outsider's Edge for the next elimination.

Eliminated: Anthony Greene

Cody Hall and Joe Keys stared eachother down and with a smirk, Hall charged. Keys swept right and sidestepped a charging bull showing there might be some brains in there after all. This song and dance went on for a bit before they locked up and began exchanging blows. Hall went for a ripcord lariat, but Keys spun through, wound up behind Hall and nailed a backstabber... he lifted Hall, pinned his arm behind his back, using his free hand, swept right across Hall's chest and delivered the X-Out DDT for the surprising victory. The 27-year Joe Keys has captured the Top Prospect Tournament, the contract and the title shot! Cody Hall impressed throughout, but in the end was outsmarted by the self-proclaimed "Most Eligible Bachelor on Tinder" "Swipe Right" Joe Keys.

Joe Keys defeated Cody Hall to be crowned the Top Prospect of 2020 (**).

The 2020 Top Prospect, "Swipe Right" Joe Keys

Television Title Date Set

Post-Match, ROH Television champion Nick Aldis stepped out from behind the curtain and congratulated Keys, saying he's earned it, Keys can name the time and place and he'll get his title shot... Keys demanded a microphone and wasting no time said "Manhattan Mayhem" in one months time, Joe Keys will have his ROH Television Title shot!

Colt Cabana is Unauthorized!

BOOM BOOM! Colt Cabana! Cabana is out next and says he's been thinking about fun ideas and recently pitched one that is bound to have the crowd on their toes! To kick February off with a bang, Cabana has been granted permission to book his own Ring of Honor special, and it'll be called Unauthorized! Anything can and will happen! This special show will feature seven bouts and will be available exclusively on the Honor Club!

ROH World Title

Jay Briscoe {C} vs. Will Ospreay

The main event was a great, fun bout, but honestly didn't live up to what it could have been. Ospreay and Briscoe worked eachother over well, but it never really felt cohesive in the way that most Briscoe title defenses have so far. Briscoe seemed to have every one of Ospreay's moves scouted and limited all the aerial offense. With Ospreay grounded, Briscoe had a clear advantaged and secured the defense with the Jay Driller...

Jay Briscoe retained the ROH World Title via Jay Driller on Will Ospreay (***1/2)

As the show went off the air we saw Villain Enterprises just standing on the stage all wearing Plague masks... the eerie image seared into the audience brain as the show went dark...

Sucks that the Top Prospect matches rated so poorly.

Even though I picked Low-Ki to win, I really did not think he would. That was a good upset right there and maybe it humbled Jeff a little.

Loved the visual you out in the end with Villain Enterprises standing on the stage all wearing Plague masks. The Plague mask always freaked me out a little in real life (maybe I died of the Black Plague in a former life.:D), so it was a very cool and ominous ending.

I've done a fair amount of tinkering with TheWho's various mods. The original database here was Dec2017, I download some of the newer ones (Jan2020 currently) to add newer talents and keep the world vibrant and fresh. I try not to juice workers, but there are certain talents that I will boost from their super low base to be more in line with similar talents. After this TPT I boosted Bey a bit in athleticism and charisma. I'm letting him work with some other smaller companies and will circle back to him in a bit. I really enjoy his work so he might make a return in the future. I also added Future of Honor as a "SMALL" promotion to develop some of the guys that I want to see get some in-ring seasoning. Alex Zayne as an example. Kinda a breeding ground for 2019 indy darlings that haven't popped onto the radar, so I'd consider signing Bey for that, but he's actually with a small fed on his own (DEFY) so I'll let him stay there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Plague mask always freaked me out a little in real life (maybe I died of the Black Plague in a former life.), so it was a very cool and ominous ending.

Oh ya, I was shocked at how bad the TPT matches did. In the previous editions I had some guys with a bit better overness and I think that boosted them a bit. I went back and forth on the Cobb result, but for the longer-term story-telling I thought this opened up more intriguing things. Plus... I still love Low-Ki.

The plague masks always creep me out also, but they fit Villains so well. And again, I think this will open up a longer-term story.

Last but not least, I went with Keys to win because it turned out he was the most popular and must have had a good destiny roll. He was with CHIKARA as Jasper Tippins before they closed down in game so he had in-ring experience and has developed well. He's also young and I needed some fresher blood. The "Swipe Right" Joe Keys character is somewhat the character he plays in reality now, but amplified. I originally saw him on a Future of Honor friday show, and I believe he has jobbed on ROH TV a couple times in reality. Cody Hall on the other hand... you'll see, I'm going to try-out something with him in the coming months... it may not stick... but we shall see.

Up next the push towards Supercard of Honor live! Supercard of Honor comes during the week of Wrestlemania and frequently features some of the biggest stars from around the world! Ring of Honor officials will slowly be announcing some of the talent you can expect to see in the coming months!

As we cruise into February, we will kick off with Colt Cabana's Unauthorized Special Event. This event is much like SMASH! The Halls and is more of a one off than a true PPV. It's more for the fans and is more along the lines of current Ring of Honor where they like to throw a variety of things together to keep the fans involved. This is more of an "Indy" style show than a move storylines along show, though there will be some. The February PPV that the TV shows are building towards is Manhattan Mayhem, live from the Manhattan Center in NYC.

March will feature Anniversary, live from Las Vegas, NV.

April will feature Supercard of Honor, and our next "Special Event" as Ring of Honor Presents: Past vs. Present, your favorite ROH stars of the past take on the current stars of today!

The first of those announcements comes right now... Appearing and representing Revolution Pro Wrestling is a Canadian Superstar who has recently been wowing crowds across Europe and is rumored to be making his first appearance in Japan later this year, until then, keeps your eyes peeled and look to the skies, our first talent announcement:</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="EwmxQ6q.jpg?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EwmxQ6q.jpg?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p> </p><p> With that out of the way, let's turn our attention to the show that will open February 2020 for us, Colt Cabana's Unauthorized! We've turned the book over to Colt for the night and he's booked us six wild matches that'll you'll only see here in Ring of Honor and only exclusively on the Honor Club... Let's pull the curtain back and take a peek at those bouts.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Low-Ki vs. Mark Briscoe</em></p><p> These two original ROH Superstars have been at the top of their games for years but this last year has been some of their best work yet. Low-Ki capped the year with a brutal victory against former partner Jay Lethal, meanwhile Mark Briscoe came up just short against his own brother Jay Briscoe. Now, Colt Cabana has booked them to face eachother. This will certainly have larger ramifications! And now, we can exclusively tell you that Ring of Honor officials have confirmed this will be viewed as a #1 Contenders bout!</p><p> </p><p> <em>Dan Maff vs. Jeff Cobb</em></p><p> Big strong boys... that's the theme here. Jeff Cobb lost at the Top Prospect Tournament to Low-Ki and now cannot challenge for any title for at least six months. As he looks to get back on track, Colt Cabana has booked him against a former ROH legend who hasn't stepped into an ROH ring since 2005, "Da Human Hit Squad" Dan Maff! Will Cobb rebound or will Maff keep him down?</p><p> </p><p> Colt Cabana's Six-Man Dance</p><p> <em>Colt Cabana vs. LSG vs. Mark Haskins vs. PJ Black vs. Royce Issacs vs. Shane Taylor</em></p><p> This one may seem random, and well.... it is. Colt Cabana fancied a bout and went through the locker room hand-picking five others to join the fray. This one may not inspire buys, but there is a lot of talent here who has been semi-stagnant recently. A victory will certainly help the year get on the right track!</p><p> </p><p> <em>Dalton Castle and Anthony Greene vs. Silas Young and Danhausen</em></p><p> Talk about a strange match to see in a Ring of Honor ring, Dalton Castle has recently been seen with a beautiful blond girl known as Candy, Anthony Greene made his in-ring debut during the Top Prospect Tournament and was accompanied by another blond known as Kammi, together Dalton and Greene call these women the "Platinum Hunnies" and now the men they associate with are teaming up to do battle with a truly strange bedfellows pair. On one side you have "The Last Real Man" Silas Young, who hasn't really done much at all in his return to ROH... on the other, you have cult-favorite and absolute nut-job Danhausen. Colt Cabana was asked for comment and all he had to say was "Love that Danhausen"... so umm... that's a bout.</p><p> </p><p> <em>The Kingdom of Truth and Cody Hall vs. The End and Karl Fredericks</em></p><p> The Kingdom of Truth and The End have had their issues. After all, it was Matt Taven who brought The End to new heights before they turned on him and brutally destroyed him. Taven returned with his former partner, Mike Bennett and a new voice, Truth Martini. Now Colt Cabana wants to see them fight again, but this time he wanted to pair them with "two talents he was personally impressed with during the Top Prospect Tournament". We have a feeling that this one is just the beginning.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham vs. The Dawgs</em></p><p> At Top Prospect Tournament we heard Jay Lethal say that he's been scouting the tapes and found himself watching some of the lesser known names in Ring of Honor, now at Unauthorized, he'll get a chance to tag with one of those names, Jonathan Gresham. On the other side, we have Rhett Titus and Will Ferrera, The Dawgs. We recently saw The Dawgs in the crowd at the Top Prospect Tournament, and they have a rough draw this week on ROH TV as they'll take on The End, but hey... maybe this will be a big win for them.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Colt Cabana's Unauthorized ROH Event Card:</strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham vs. The Dawgs<p> The Kingdom of Truth and Cody Hall vs. The End and Karl Fredericks</p><p> Dalton Castle and Anthony Greene vs. Silas Young and Danhausen</p><p> Colt Cabana vs. LSG vs. Mark Haskins vs. PJ Black vs. Royce Issacs vs. Shane Taylor</p><p> Dan Maff vs. Jeff Cobb</p><p> #1 Contendership for the ROH World Title: Low-Ki vs. Mark Briscoe</p></div></blockquote><p> --------------------------------------------------------------</p><p> Just a fun show, showcasing some of the other talents, bringing in a couple guys, and just doing something a bit different... We will have normal TV recaps up next, and then Manhattan Mayhem here in February!</p>

I’m very impressed with the predictions Kijar pulled from page one over two years ago... he must have been watching an old episode on Honor Club ;-).

Appreciate the love, just booked Supercard of Honor, so I’m two months ahead, and we finally had a 5 Star (A+) segment... better keep following to find out what it was.

Show coming in the next day.

<p>ROH TV January Week 4, February Week 1, 2020 Plus Unauthorized</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;">ROH TV Week 4, January 2020</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We are back and we are live on your television as we come fresh off a successful Top Prospect Tournament where <strong>Joe Keys</strong> was crowned the 2020 Top Prospect. The show kicks it to the ring where <strong>The Dawgs</strong> are back in the ring. The announcers point out that as a team they haven’t won a match in over a year!… Well that wouldn’t change here as <strong>The End</strong> entered, immediately annihilated <strong>Titus and Ferrara</strong> and took the victory. Post-match, <strong>The Kingdom of Truth</strong> was out with words for <strong>The End</strong>, but suddenly the a spotlight highlighted two men in the cat-walk esque rafters… <strong>Brody King</strong> was holding the Red Balloons again and standing next to him, looking possessed was <strong>Vincent</strong>, the former Vinny Marseglia. <strong>Vincent</strong> spoke stating that “Horror walks among you… and we are coming to steal your soul…”</p><p> </p><p> Up next we had a match that never typically would be given away on free TV as <strong>Jay Lethal</strong> and <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> did battle in one of for the ages, easy four star bout here. Both men had a number of opportunities to showcase. <strong>Cobb</strong>, coming off a heartbreaking loss to <strong>Lethal</strong>’s former partner <strong>Low-Ki</strong>, and <strong>Lethal</strong> himself stepping back into the ring for first time in over a month after the brutal finish to the Last Man Standing bout with <strong>Low-Ki</strong> at Final Battle. Both men went at it here with solid pace. Ultimately the finish saw <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> lose focus briefly and <strong>Lethal</strong> catch him with the Lethal Combination for the win… Post-match both men stare at eachother and <strong>Cobb</strong> just rolls out of the ring, looking frustrated.</p><p> </p><p> Back in the ring, <strong>“Overkill” Mark Haskins</strong> makes his way to the ring accompanied by his wife <strong>Vicky Haskins</strong>. Mark has slowly been making a name for himself and now here a mere week removed from his title shot, he’s accompanied by his wife. His opponent was <strong>“Loverboy” Lochy Hendricks</strong>, the Australian import whom <strong>Rocky Romero</strong> has tried to keep focused in the ring. Here though <strong>Haskins</strong> had a clear advantage and scored a quick win.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage, <strong>Joe Keys</strong> is seen taking a selfie next to his trophy. He glances up and says “new profile pic for the ladies to Swipe Right on”… <strong>Nick Aldis</strong> enters the frame with the TV title draped over his shoulder. He scoffs at <strong>Keys</strong> and says that he’ll never be draped in gold like the National Treasure.</p><p> </p><p> In the main event, <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> took on <strong>Davey Boy Smith Jr</strong> of Villain Enterprises in a bout that fell a bit flat. Their styles just didn’t gel here. <strong>Ospreay</strong> used the OsCutter to secure the victory and firmly establish himself as a major threat who just needs a little more to climb to the mountaintop that is the ROH World title… post-match as <strong>Davey Boy Smith Jr</strong> walked up the stage the lights cut out… the video screen flashed a black and white image of a old-worn down ring with a coat rack sitting inside of it, the image slowly panned to <strong>Marty Scurll</strong> sitting at a desk… “There comes a time when even Villains need to rethink, and plan their next assault on society… Thing is, you just don’t know when or where it will happen. You don’t know where we will show up. You don’t know what we will bring… Long Live The Villain…” the screen goes black leaving a bewildered <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> in the ring. Just like after his match with <strong>Jay Briscoe</strong>, post-bout Villain Enterprises had something to say, but this time they used words and not physical, haunting imagery.</p><p> </p><p> ——————————————————————</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-size:18px;">ROH TV Week 1, February 2020</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> Another week, another bout to open us up as <strong>Dalton Castle</strong> took on <strong>Silas Young</strong> in a bout that serves as a partial preview to their tag clash at Unauthorized. <strong>Castle</strong> gets the better of <strong>Silas</strong> here. Post-bout outcomes <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> to a big applause. He reminds fans that he is hosting Unauthorized, and he has just the partner picked out for <strong>Silas Young</strong>! A wrestler who is just as serioushausen as <strong>Silas Young</strong>… <strong>Young</strong> looks pleased in the ring… until <strong>Danhausen</strong> makes his way out…</p><p> </p><p> In the next bout, <strong>Flip Gordon</strong> took on the weird, quirky and humorous <strong>Danhausen</strong> as <strong>Silas Young</strong> looked on… <strong>Danhausen</strong> got some offense in but <strong>Flip Gordon</strong> took home the win in relatively easy fashion… <strong>Silas</strong> walked off shaking his head. Post-match: <strong>Brody King and Vincent</strong> slide into the ring and disembowel <strong>Flip Gordon</strong>, leaving him prone in the ring. <strong>Brody King</strong> ties the balloons around <strong>Flip</strong>’s wrist in the ring as <strong>Vincent and King</strong> walk to the back.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage: <strong>Will Ospreay</strong> announces that he thinks that the Villain is targeting him and he’s not going to play those mind games, in fact he’s going to cut the snakes head off, and he’s going to England to do it… <strong>Ospreay</strong> is seen boarding a flight as we head back to the ring.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Nick Aldis</strong> made quick work of <strong>Chris Bey</strong> in a quick Television Title defense. This prompts <strong>Joe Keys</strong> to come out and proclaim that the National Treasure struggled to beat a man who couldn’t even touch <strong>Keys</strong>… <strong>Aldis</strong> grabbed a microphone and said that if <strong>Keys</strong> were so confident he could have his title shot right now… but <strong>Keys</strong> said he had some other things to do, like answer some messages on Bumble and walked out.</p><p> </p><p> At the farm, the <strong>Briscoe Brothers</strong> are seen. <strong>Jay Briscoe</strong> says that he’s been thinking a lot about Villain Enterprises and how they felt a need to show up at Top Prospect Tournament, he says that around here, we raise men willing to fight, not chickens looking to play games. He said that if <strong>Scurll, Smith or Latimer</strong> had anything to say about that, they knew where to find Dem Boyz… He then turns to his brother and says, “At Unauthorized beat Low-Ki and earn your next shot at my belt”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> ——————————————————————</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Ring of Honor Presents: Colt Cabana's Unauthorized Event</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>On the heels of the TV Taping, we actually broadcast filmed Colt Cabana’s Unauthorized Ring of Honor Event!</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="tH5YkHl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tH5YkHl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> was out first to welcome us to his show! He said that tonight, Anything Goes!!! and you never know what will happen! As he’s continuing his introductory speech. He’s cut off by Villain Enterprises theme… <strong>Marty Scurll</strong>, flanked by <strong>Davey Boy Smith and Thomas Latimer</strong> make their way out to the ring, all wearing the plague masks… <strong>Scurll</strong> removes his but the other two men keep theirs on… <strong>Scurll</strong> has a microphone and immediately starts: “<strong>Will Ospreay</strong>… you came to find us… but we are right here. We’ve always been here. I told you that we will do this on our terms and I mean it. <strong>Colt</strong>, you said anything goes and this is Unauthorized… well… Consider this a formal warning <strong><em>Ring of Honor</em></strong> that the Villain will make his mark… on his terms… A lot has been made about my contract and the dirt sheets are right. I cannot be bought. I am a free agent. I am a man without rulers… I am after all… The Villain that you need.” Smoke begins to fill the ring and <strong>Scurll</strong> puts his Plague mask back on as he and his crew leave the ring… </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Dan Maff vs. Jeff Cobb</strong></p><p> </p><p> Our opening bout is the first “surprise” of the night as <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> has booked a true hossfight. <strong>Dan Maff</strong>, a man who took nearly 6 years off as a pro wrestler and hasn’t appeared in <strong>Ring of Honor</strong> in over a decade makes his way out first to a tepid response. <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> is out next to a mix or heat and pops. The announcers immediately remind us that <strong>Cobb</strong> lost last month at Top Prospect Tournament and cannot challenge for any title until at least July 2020. After the pleasantries are exchanged these two hosses begin just absolutely brutalizing eachother with both men laying in clubbing strikes. The finish comes relatively quickly as <strong>Jeff Cobb</strong> finally catches the winded <strong>Maff</strong> with a quick hiptoss followed by the Tour of the Islands for the 1-2-3.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Jeff Cobb defeated Dan Maff via Tour of the Islands (**3/4)</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Backstage we see <strong>Cody Hall</strong> taping his wrists up… suddenly a large book is placed on the table in front of him and the cackling laugh of <strong>Truth Martini</strong> fills the room. <strong>Truth</strong> tells <strong>Cody</strong> he saw something in <strong>Cody</strong>’s eyes that reminded him a lot of his former protege. He tells <strong>Cody</strong> to read the book and find his purpose in the <strong>Kingdom of Truth</strong>.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Six-Way</em></p><p> <strong>Colt Cabana vs. LSG vs. Mark Haskins vs. PJ Black vs. Royce Issacs vs. Shane Taylor</strong></p><p> </p><p> Our second bout featured six men who really don’t have much of a tie to one another… Before the bell rings <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> announces that this bout will be a “Proving Ground” match where the winner will get a future Ring of Honor Television Title or Tag Title shot! It is mentioned that <strong>LSG</strong> and <strong>Taylor</strong> both have obvious partners, <strong>Shaheem Ali</strong> and <strong>Kenny King</strong> respectively, but that the other four men seem to be relatively independent. <strong>AJ Kirsch</strong> reminds <strong>Riccaboni</strong> that <strong>PJ Black</strong> came here with <strong>Tracy Williams</strong> who should be back from injury soon and that <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> knows everyone! The match itself was actually an effective showcase for all six men. <strong>Shane Taylor</strong> is starting to come into his own as a big-man with bad attitude and he controlled the pace early. Ultimately<strong> PJ Black and Haskins</strong> picked the pace up and really got things moving. <strong>LSG</strong> scored a near pinfall with an abrupt Sunset Flip on <strong>Cabana</strong>, but <strong>Cabana</strong> managed to kick-out… As <strong>Cabana and LSG</strong> engaged in one corner. <strong>Haskins and Black</strong> double-teamed <strong>Taylor</strong> to the floor… <strong>Royce Isaacs</strong> seeking an opportunity to steal a win then went to attack them both, but instead found himself flying over the ropes and onto <strong>Taylor</strong>… This led to <strong>Haskins and Black</strong> both taking flight and a four-man car crash emerging on the floor. Back in the ring, <strong>Cabana</strong> had <strong>LSG</strong> in the corner and worked him over with 9 punches to the skull… he hopped down and was met by a <strong>Mark Haskins</strong> dropkick sending him from the ring… <strong>Haskins</strong> turned around and was met by a Superkick from <strong>PJ Black</strong> that sent <strong>Haskins</strong> crashing over the ropes and into <strong>Shane Taylor</strong>’s arms… <strong>Taylor</strong> planted him on the mat, effectively knocking <strong>Haskins</strong> out… Suddenly a human missile named <strong>LSG</strong> took flight and took <strong>Taylor</strong> down… meanwhile, <strong>PJ Black</strong> appeared to be ready to fly again when <strong>Royce Isaacs</strong> stepped back in… <strong>PJ Black</strong> started his run towards the ropes but <strong>Isaacs</strong> was there and <strong>Black</strong> instead leapt, catching <strong>Isaacs</strong> as he passed, clipping the ropes with his feet and delivering a huge Tornado DDT squarely in the center of the ring. <strong>PJ Black</strong> made the cover… 1… 2…3… Just as <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> made his way back in <strong>Black </strong>was named the winner… </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">PJ Black pinned Royce Isaacs and in effect defeated Colt Cabana, LSG, Mark Haskins and Shane Taylor in a Proving Ground Six-Way match. He’ll earn a future TV or Tag title shot at his choosing</span></strong> (**1/2)</p><p> </p><p> Backstage we see <strong>The End</strong> getting ready for battle… in walks <strong>Rocky Romero</strong> with his NJPW Young Lion, <strong>Karl Fredericks</strong> in town. <strong>Romero</strong> tells <strong>The End</strong> that he knows they don’t have a ton in common but tonight… they should really work together and score this win… <strong>Hammerstone</strong> looks at <strong>Romero</strong> and just barks some words at him, as <strong>Romero</strong> leaves <strong>Fredericks</strong> in the locker room with his “partners”</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Anthony Greene and Dalton Castle w/ The Platinum Hunnies (Kammi and Candy) vs. Silas Young and Danhausen</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Greene and Castle</strong> make their entrance first, accompanied by the gorgeous Hunnies. They get kisses on the cheek and do some cheeky things to pop the crowd… <em><strong>“The Last Real Man”</strong></em> is out next looking pissed as usual… He stands at the ramp and barks “COME ON” as <strong>Danhausen</strong> walks out in a full vampire-esque cape… <strong>Danhausen</strong> reveals he has a microphone and has some demands for <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> “Colt… As you well know, Danhausen is Very Nice, but also Very Evil... So before this bout I was promised thinghausens, and they better be readyhausen.” <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> who didn’t leave ringside after his match and has joined the announce table ensures <strong>Danhausen</strong> that “everything is ready...hausen”… And as such <strong>Danhausen</strong> makes his way to the ring… This match is more of a comedy bout than anything. The highlight coming when <strong>Danhausen</strong> gets a hot-tag and tosses <strong>Anthony Greene</strong> from the ring… as <strong>Danhausen</strong> stands on the apron he yells “HIT IT” and suddenly the 1980’s hit song “Tequila” begins to play… <strong>Danhausen</strong> begins dancing to the beat on the ring apron… even the Platinum Hunnies get into it… <strong>Silas Young</strong> meanwhile is screaming at <strong>Danhausen</strong> to focus… <strong>Greene</strong> goes to sweep <strong>Danhausen</strong>’s legs, but <strong>Danhausen</strong> jumps and as the song reaches the part where everyone yells “Tequila” he delivers a punt kick squarely across <strong>Greene's</strong> face… As <strong>Danhausen</strong> continues his dance toward the corner, <strong>Silas Young</strong> tags himself in, to loud boos from the crowd. <strong>Young</strong> tosses <strong>Greene</strong> back into the ring and looks to end the bout, but <strong>Greene</strong> kicks out at 2, and then makes a hot tag of his own to <strong>Castle</strong>… As <strong>Castle</strong> enters <strong>Silas Young</strong> backs into the corner and turns and just tags <strong>Danhausen</strong> back in… <strong>Danhausen</strong> enters, is immediately flattened with a Bang-A-Rang and this one is over…</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Anthony Greene and Dalton Castle defeated Silas Young and Danhausen (**3/4) via Bang-A-Rang</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> We get a promo hyping a match announcement for Manhattan Mayhem as <strong>The Workhorsemen (JD Drake, Anthony Henry and BJ Whitmer)</strong> will face <strong>Team Filthy (Tom Lawlor, Fred Yehi and Josh Woods)</strong> with the Six-Man titles on the line.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Six-Man Tag</em></p><p> <strong>The End and Karl Fredericks vs. Cody Hall and The Kingdom of Truth</strong></p><p> </p><p> The bell rings in this one and it’s <strong>The End</strong> looking to score some level of punishment on the <strong>Kingdom of Truth</strong>, but <strong>Truth</strong> instructs <strong>Taven and Bennett</strong> to immediately tag <strong>Hall</strong> in. <strong>Hall</strong> seems pleased and he hangs with <strong>The End</strong> nicely, matching their strength and size. Ever the opportunists, <strong>Matt Taven and Mike Bennett</strong> only tag in briefly to take shots on downed opponents before passing it back to their new muscle. This goes on a for a couple minutes until <strong>Hammerstone</strong> overpowers <strong>Hall</strong> and <strong>Bennett</strong> is forced to face<strong> Hammerstone</strong> in the ring. They exchange blows before <strong>Hammerstone</strong> whips <strong>Bennett</strong> into the corner. <strong>Hammerstone</strong> tags <strong>Odinson</strong> in and they deliver a huge dual-suplex on <strong>Bennett</strong>. As <strong>Odinson</strong> backs into the corner to prepare for a spear… <strong>Fredericks</strong> tags himself in blindly. <strong>Odinson</strong> delivers a huge spear to <strong>Bennett</strong>, but <strong>Todd Sinclair</strong> won’t count and tells him <strong>Fredericks</strong> is the legal man. <strong>Fredericks</strong> hops in and starts towards <strong>Bennett</strong> but is instead met by <strong>Odinson</strong> delivering a huge lariat to his partner. <strong>Hammerstone</strong> steps in and hits the Nightmare Pendulum on <strong>Fredericks</strong> and <strong>The End</strong> leave their partner out cold in the ring, allowing <strong>Matt Taven</strong> to tag-in and steal the win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Kingdom of Truth and Cody Hall defeated The End and Karl Fredericks when The End turned on their partner (**)</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> We see <strong>Brody King and Vincent</strong> sitting in a dimly lit room. It appears to have dolls and balloons covering the room… Vincent speaks and says that “Times are dark man… But I’m the savior that you need. Brody here is the monster in your closet, and I’m the nightmare waiting under your bed… We are Horror… We are here for your soul.”</p><p> </p><p> We see what appears to be a photoshoot for <strong>Nick Aldis</strong> set-up. <strong>Aldis</strong> is having some images taken when suddenly <strong>Joe Keys</strong> interrupts and instructs the cameraman that “I need a new profile pic, snap some of me now…” This miffs <strong>Aldis</strong> who immediately shoves <strong>Keys</strong>. <strong>Keys</strong> shoves him back and things get out of hand quickly. Security separates them as <strong>Keys</strong> is yelling something about how <strong>Aldis</strong> violated him and that earns him an immediate “left swipe”. <strong>Aldis</strong> yells “Grow UP” at <strong>Keys</strong> as sanity is restored.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham vs The Dawgs</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Lethal and Gresham</strong> are out second, the announcers ask <strong>Colt </strong>if<strong> Jay Lethal </strong>specifically request <strong>Gresham</strong> or if this was a <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> idea, <strong>Cabana</strong> says that a match-maker never shares his secrets… but that <strong>Lethal </strong>did provide him with a list of names that he was into... <strong>The Dawgs</strong> may be a jobber team, but they are actually solid in-ring workers, and <strong>Will Ferrara and Jonathan Gresham</strong> have a history together. This one was a much better match than anyone would have predicted. It helps that <strong>Lethal</strong> was in it, but he immediately elevated <strong>Gresham</strong> to a level we haven’t seen in ROH. They just seemed to have instant chemistry and that made this a really fun bout. <strong>Lethal and Gresham</strong>, perhaps obviously, scored the pinfall victory and they celebrated together as the announcers mentioned it seemed like we might have just found a new tag-team here in ROH.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham defeated The Dawgs (***1/4)</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Speaking of tag teams, we get the confirmation that at Manhattan Mayhem, <strong>The Top Guys</strong> will grant a rematch to the <strong>Motor City Machine Guns</strong>!</p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44489" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em>#1 Contendership for the ROH World Title</em></p><p> <strong>Low-Ki vs. Mark Briscoe</strong></p><p> <img alt="xj4swgH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xj4swgH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kTDXWu3.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kTDXWu3.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="QLxbVjg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/QLxbVjg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> The main event featured <strong>Mark Briscoe and Low-Ki</strong> in a bout that we all knew was going to be a barn-burner and it sure delivered. <strong>Colt Cabana</strong> ceded his spot on the announce table to <strong>Jay Briscoe</strong>… and then revealed himself as the self-appointed “Special Referee” for this bout to a big pop from the local Chicago crowd. <strong>Cabana</strong> enters the ring and shakes hands with both men and this one is underway! <strong>Briscoe and Low-Ki</strong> spend some time feeling each other out but then this turns into the slobberknocker we knew it would be. Both men have an extensive history with eachother and it showed in the way they handled one another. The fans are really into this one and <strong>Mark Briscoe</strong> starts to pull out some new tricks to take <strong>Low-Ki</strong> down. <strong>Low-Ki</strong> has some tricks of his own though, and he takes advantage of <strong>Cabana’</strong>s lack of experience as a referee to deliver an eye-rake that turned the tide of the bout. As <strong>Briscoe</strong> is down, <strong>Low-Ki </strong>then started to untie the turnbuckle, which <strong>Cabana</strong> stopped and began to re-tie, with his back turned, <strong>Low-Ki</strong> pushed<strong> Briscoe</strong> to the corner and mounted him for a group of closed fist punches to the skull. The fans began to count, reaching four before <strong>Cabana</strong> turned around and began his own count to ten with <strong>Low-Ki</strong> backing off at 9 and then restarting. Getting in a few extra blows here and there. On commentary, <strong>Jay Briscoe</strong> said he knew that his brother wanted another shot, but that he wouldn’t just had it to him and he wouldn’t help him secure it… they are best friends and blood brothers, but brotherhood means a fair fight… <strong>Low-Ki</strong> rolled<strong> Briscoe</strong> to the middle and climbed up to the top rope…. Warrior’s Way… <strong>Briscoe</strong> moves and <strong>Low-Ki</strong> rolls through… both men to their feet… <strong>Low-Ki</strong> charges, <strong>Mark</strong> catches him with a Spanish Fly. Quick cover,….</p><p> </p><p> 1</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Low-Ki</strong> powers out and catches <strong>Mark</strong>’s in a wrist lock… <strong>Briscoe and Low-Ki</strong> work their way up to their feet until <strong>Low-Ki</strong> sweeps the legs and maintains the wrist lock… he places <strong>Mark</strong>’s wrist on the ground and stomps down… standing on his hand as <strong>Mark</strong> sits up slightly and takes a kick straight to the jaw. <strong>Low-Ki</strong> lifts<strong> Mark,</strong> KI KRUSHER 99….</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 1</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 3</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Colt Cabana’s</strong> hand strikes the mat three times and as his Unauthorized Ring of Honor event comes to a close, we have a <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">new #1 Contender as Low-Ki defeated Mark Briscoe (***3/4)</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <em>Match of the Night</em></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> ————————————</p><p> Overall (***3/4)</p>

Wrestling Observer Newsletter Exclusive: Marty Scurll Update

WDgbg6w.jpg

Marty Scurll Contract Status Unknown

We’ve long heard that Marty Scurll would be joining All Elite Wrestling in 2020 once his contract with Ring of Honor expired. We have good sources saying that Marty’s contract expired at the end of January and like he hinted in an appearance during Colt Cabana’s Unauthorized Event he is a Free Agent. With AEW currently pushing a storyline featuring the mysterious, cult-like, Dark Order and their leader hasn’t been revealed many of us speculate that Marty Scurll will fill that roll. With that said though, we will just have to keep an eye on the Villain and see where he pops up next…

Speaking of Ring of Honor, they have announced another name for their April Supercard of Honor...

NJPW’s “Switchblade” Jay White will be returning to Ring of Honor live in Lakeland, Florida. This week leading up to Wrestlemania is always packed with great independent and affiliated wrestling and this year will prove to be no exception! We’ve heard that despite some earlier concerns the NJPW and ROH relationship is stronger than ever, and this exchange for Supercard of Honor will lead to a number of Ring of Honor stars making their way to Japan for a tour with NJPW starting immediately after Supercard of Honor. We haven’t confirmed the names yet, but we’ve heard that this tour will take place through June and the stars who go will likely not be on ROH TV during that time, but will be able to appear at their events, including the Special April Event, Past vs. Present, as they won’t conflict with NJPW dates. Speaking of Past vs Present, we’ve heard that ROH has been reaching out to some big names from their past and we can expect to see a number of former champions on the show!

<p>Ring of Honor February 2020 Recap</p><p> </p><p> With us cruising towards the release of TEW 2020 I wanted to begin to wind us down on easily my longest tenured diary (started in December 2017)... That doesn't mean we are closing up shop just yet, but I did want to at least get through Supercard of Honor and will be moving to a more fast-paced style to get there. I'll post the PPV card for Manhattan Mayhem (February) and Anniversary (March) but likely will post the results in the same day as the preview. Understanding that's not the most "interactive", I apologize, but I think this will get us to where we want to go!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>ROH Television Mid-February Recap, Leading into Manhattan Mayhem 2020</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="font-size:18px;">ROH TV February 2020, Week 2, 2020</span></span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Show opens with Coast 2 Coast hyping up the opening bout, which they call the biggest opportunity of their careers as they will take on Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham in a bout that is bound to put one of these teams in the drivers seat for future title shot.</p><p> </p><p> The bout itself saw <strong>Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham</strong> come together and work incredibly well as a unit as they picked and pulled apart <strong>Coast 2 Coast</strong> with Gresham forcing Shaheem Ali to tap.
