Georges St-Pierre returns!

The hits just keep coming. Georges St-Pierre's two and a half year hiatus is coming to an end after signing a contract with Dana White and the UFC to make a much-anticipated return to the octagon. No word yet on any opponents lined up for the former Fighter of the Year but, rumour has it, that he may be stepping up to Middleweight rather than returning to the Welterweight division. Whether there is weight to this remains to be seen but, you can guarantee, whenever we see St-Pierre again, it will be Box Office!

Samman out of UFC on Fox: Mir vs Lewis!

Josh Samman has withdrawn from his Middleweight bout with Dan Henderson at UFC on Fox: Mir vs Lewis. A minor rib injury has resulted in his withdrawal, however, Dana White was quick to react and find a replacement. Garreth McLellan is stepping in to take Samman's place and go toe-to-toe with the legend that is Dan Henderson.

UFC - NEWS UPDATE

Jon Jones out of UFC 196: Cormier vs Jones II

'Bones' has withdrawn from the main event bout of UFC 196 due to picking up a minor hand injury in training. It's a frustrating blow to all involved, especially given this was set to be one of the biggest rematches in UFC history.

However, the UFC quick thinkers have come up with a plan.

Cormier will still compete in the main event, but against a Middleweight. Yoel Romero is now inserted into the main event in a Catchweight, exhibition bout of sorts. Cormier should have a significant advantage but props to Romero for stepping in.

Liddell's comeback bout set!

People are still coming to terms with the idea of seeing Chuck Liddell, now aged 46, back in the UFC octagon but that's what's set to happen on 28th May in the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. Rumour has it Liddell is set to headline the UFC Fight Night card that evening against Francimar Barrosso. More news from this as we get it.

Forrest Griffin to return to UFC

Former Light Heavyweight Champion and the first ever TUF champion Forrest Griffin is stepping back into the octagon. Dana White continues to wield his velvet glove and silver tongue with more Star Power now than ever before in the company. Despite being a Hall of Famer, it goes to show that sometimes the lure of money and love for the business can be too much for some!

Round 1;

Potts tried to keep Ngannou grounded early doors but the big man scrambled well and got the advantage. Heavy Ground and Pound shots were thrown but Potts managed to survive.

10-9 Ngannou

Round 2;

Potts came out firing on all cylinders. 3 Judo takedowns never gave Ngannou a chance to settle. Potts seemed to have it won with a guillotine choke but couldn't get it sunk in. Solid round though.

19-19

Round 3;

The ground game of Potts proved too much here and Ngannou submits to an armbar.

Round 1;

The round was fairly even for the first 4 minutes with minimal action but with 25 seconds left of the round, Murphy springs to life and lands big strikes on Eye's eye. Murphy continued to attack and the ref had no option but to step in and stop it.

Round 1;

McLellan held his own for the first 2 minutes and 30 seconds but Henderson, even at 45, can still be explosive and lands a stunning right hook that knocks McLellan out cold.

Round 1;

A fairly dull first round exploded into life with 1 minute to go when Kawajiri took down Makdeesi and caught him in a choke hold. 'The Bull' refused to tap though and eventually Kawajiri loosened his grip before the round ends.

10-9 Kawajiri

Round 2;

Makdeesi tries to dirty box his way through the round. Not much to report of here but Kawajiri probably got the better of it. Just.

20-18 Kawajiri

Round 3;

'The Bull' is given a thorough pep talk and comes out swinging. He gets the better of 'Crusher' for most of the round but Kawajiri, from nowhere, suplexes him to the ground, grabs his arm and locks in the Arm Triangle. It's over.

An excellent, action-packed first round with very little to seperate them. At a push, Castrey may have taken it, but it was very tight and thrilling.

10-9 Castrey

Round 2;

Both fighters to their feet off the gas and kept it basic, sticking to clinches and knee strikes. Not quite as close this time as Castrey definitely takes it.

20-18 Castrey

Round 3;

Another incredibly close round with both men just intent on standing and striking. Both gave it their all but, I feel, Galindo had the more effective striking to take this one as the bell rings.

29-28 Castrey

Round 1;

Mir took Lewis down to the ground within 5 seconds and that's where they stayed. Mir had a couple of serious Armbar attempts and seemed to have it won with an Armbar but Lewis somehow escaped. Impressive defence from Lewis lets him survive the round.

10-9 Mir

Round 2;

Mir came out swinging, looking for an early finish. He successfully took down Lewis scrambled for position on a submission. Eventually, Mir locked in a kneebar as Lewis tapped out.

Round 1;

A solid first round opener to the main card of this show. The fans were really into it. Andrade was the more offensive with Correia looking to land counter punches. Solid striking was the order here as Andrade edges the round.

Andrade 10-9

Round 2;

Another exciting round with both women going for the knockout on the other. Plenty significant and powerful looking punches were thrown, but none landed. Correia could do with being a bit more offence orientated as Andrade takes this one and Correia's 9-0 record is in trouble of being blemished.

Andrade 20-18

Round 3;

A cagey final round for the first 4 minutes. But then Andrade exploded into life landing 2 big strikes that had Correia shaky on the legs and falling to the mat. Andrade went for the finish but couldn't get it before the bell.

Round 1;

Lindsay never stood a chance here. Penn immediately goes for a clinch and takedown. He has the stronger ground game and it shows as he locks in an Arm Triangle for an early finish.

Decent opening round. Cro Cop was intent on keeping 'Killa' at bay with his vicious jabs. Some great striking on show. Cannonier gets the takedown. Scrambling and punching ensue but nothing significant occurs.

Round 2;

A fairly dull second round. Primarily consisted of each man trying to take down the other and getting stuffed in the process. Difficult to call this one with no action. Let's go Cro Cop for strong defence on the takedown attempts.

Cro Cop 20-18

Round 3;

Cannonier was determined to take it to the ground but Mirko refused. Cro Cop landed some strong strikes and kicks to rocked 'Killa' and took this round comfortably.

Cro Cop 30-27

Round 1;

Stunning first round of action has the crowd on their feet. Jung takesdown Knight. Some heavy hitting punches land and leave Knight hurting but he scrambles to his feet. 'Korean Zombie' lands a heavy right hand connecting with Knight's body but looks to have hurt his hand in the process. Round ends.

Korean Zombie 10-9

Round 2;

Sung Jung came out looking to end the fight in this round. Strong strikes were called for as both men came out swinging but Sung Jung definitely rocked Knight a couple of times here. Knight feel to the floor as Jung went for the finish and attempted a Kimura. Knight scrambled free but tried to regain composure as round ends.

Korean Zombie 20-18

Round 3;

Knight's corner tried to hype him up but he didn't look interested and it showed. A quiet start to the 3rd round, Sung Jung didn't want to wait it out. He landed a sensational right leg kick to the head of Knight and he was out before he hit the mat.

Round 1;

The crowd were 'hyped' for this meeting of legends as Silva ignores the touch of gloves. The 2 stand toe-to-toe ducking and dodging each other's strikes. Plenty of excitement but nothing significant and a cagey opening round. Tight to call.

Machida 10-9

Round 2;

The crowd were 'buzzing' after this one. Silva throws weak punches and 'The Dragon' takes him down. Machida peppers him with punches. Silva has 3 significant attempts at submissions switching between Kimura's and Arm Triangle's but Machida simply keeps slamming his shoulder into the face and body of 'The Spider'. As the bell goes, Machida definitely takes that one.

Machida 20-18

Round 3;

An outstanding round. Machida bosses the early stages but Silva springs to life and takes down 'The Dragon'. Mixing it up, he lands solid strikes to the body while attempting an Armbar that is blocked. They're back to their feet and immediately Silva throws a jab that misses but then lands a crunching straight left to the jaw as Machida hits the ground. Silva pounces for the finish landing Big Strikes but time runs out as Machida survives. Silva takes the round but could it be too little too late?

Machida 29-28

Anderson Silva defeats Lyoto Machida by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Silva uses the post match promo time to challenge tonight's main eventer, Yoel Romero.

Round 1;

An exhibition bout of sorts due to the withdrawal of Jon Jones, Cormier is still taking it seriously and ignores the touch of gloves. Cormier immediately goes for a takedown but is stuffed. They smother each other against the cage. Cormier elbows Romero which cuts him under his eye. From there, it was simple. Cormier takes him down, scrambles for position and locks in the Arm Triangle as Romero can only tap.

Round 1;

The fight gets off to a cagey start but Tanaka takes down Rodrigues and the ground and pound onslaught begins. Several huge shots rock Rodrigues and Herb Dean steps in.

Round 2;

Another fairly dull round that the fans aren't invested in. Much the same as the first. A lot of punches and kicks thrown but not a lot lands.

Kowalkiewicz 20-18

Round 3;

3 round of fairly similar action. Calderwood had slightly more success here with strong leg kicks leaving Kowalkiewicz limping for much of the last 90 seconds. But nothing fresh or exciting.

Round 1;

Lineker came out looking to end the night early. Very aggressive, landing some strong strikes to stun Hobar. Eventually, he successfully takes him down but Hobar's submission defence is strong and avoids several attempts at an Arm Triangle before the bell rings.

Lineker 10-9

Round 2;

An excellent 2nd round brings the crowd to their feet. Both men were looking to finish the other. Lineker had the more significant striking game but as they hit the ground, Hobar switched gears and Lineker was struggling. With time running out in the round, Hobar locks in an Armbar and Linker taps with only 2 seconds left.

Round 2;

A fairly tight round, again fought by the cage with dirty boxing involved. Personally, I felt Mitrione had the stronger round but a Hamilton scored a cut on the eyebrow of Mitrione which could prove troublesome.

Round 3;

Another decent round that Hamilton had the better of here. The 2 stood toe-to-toe in the middle of the ring and just kept throwing jabs, looking for an opening, but nothing opened up.

Round 1;

These 2 welterweights had a strong opening & final round. Northcutt had the better standing game but after several attempts, eventually, Noke got the takedown. Scrambling ensued but Noke got the North South Choke locked in.

Round 1;

Poirier ignores the touch of gloves, drawing boos from the crowd. Both men were keen to KO the other. Poirier landed more strikes. A nice 2 jabs and swinging hook combo wobbled Dariush. Dustin followed it up with a monumental left hand that instantly KO'd Dariush.

Interview with CM Punk

CM Punk's UFC debut will occur on the 7th May as the semi-main bout at UFC Fight Night: Evans vs Jackson II. With the world's of MMA and 'Sports Entertainment' keen to see how he fares, here's a snippet of an interview with UFC.com.

"Everyone has doubters. Some more than others. If I listened to the haters, I'd never bother leaving my home in the morning. But on the 7th May I'm gonna step into that cage, use all of the training and preparation I've been given and either go big or go home! Win or lose, I'm gonna come out richer for the experience and be thankful I chased a dream and gave it a shot"

White hypes upcoming months of events

The upcoming few months are shaping up to be blockbusters as the UFC steams towards UFC 200. No word yet on official match-ups for that event or anything beyond June but we can confirm that stars like Brock Lesnar, Alastair Overeem, Demetrius Johnson, Junior Dos Santos & Anthony Pettis are booked on future upcoming cards. White said this;

"I can't begin to tell you how f***ing excited I am for the upcoming months. It's marquee event after marquee event and I can't give anything away but UFC 200 is going to be the biggest event we've ever had! It's number 200. It has to be the biggest!

Round 1;

The two men stood trading strikes and equalling each other for the first 2mins 30 seconds. Then a swift combination from Silva, out of nowhere, knocked O'Reilly down. O'Reilly weathered the storm and even broke free from a kimura lock as he made it through the round.

Silva 10-9

Round 2;

O'Reilly looked shaken after the last round and Silva took advantage. He worked the jab to his advantage and another swift combination ending with a crunching left hook KO'd O'Reilly immediately.

Round 1;

A tentative opening round, nothing significant really occured. Hester had the better striking game but there's very little to seperate them.

Hester 10-9

Round 2;

A more eventful round. Collier threw some great counter jabs to keep Hester at bay. He found an opening and took Hester to the ground. He couldn't lock in any submissions, not for a lack of trying. Hester landed a huge combination to end the round but Collier takes it.

Round 3;

Hester came out looking to finish the fight, where-as Collier stuck to the plan and just tried to counter what came towards him. Credit to Collier, he stayed standing when lesser men would have fallen. Hester takes this round easily with some brutal looking kicks landing.

Hester 29-28

Clint Hester defeats Jake Collier by UD (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Round 1;

A great opening round full of exciting action. Plenty of punches thrown and some looked like they really hurt. Tight to call but I'd probably give it to Doane.

Doane 10-9

Round 2;

Another excellent round of action, the fans are eating this up. Similar to the first, these 2 are just content standing and trading kicks and punches. Absolutely nothing to seperate these 2 fighters. I'd give it to Rivera just to keep it even, as it should be.

19-19

Round 3;

Another solid round. No knockdowns at all in the fight. They never went to the ground once. Just stood toe-to-toe and knocked lumps out of each other. Not quite as tight as the other 2 rounds, Rivera takes this one.

Rivera 29-28

Jimmie Rivera defeats Russell Doane by UD (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Round 1;

A stark contrast to the previous fight, the crowd weren't enthused by this at all. A dull opening round with a lot of dirty boxing and grapple attempts. Reneau got the better of the action.

Reneau 10-9

Round 2;

Slightly more action in this round. Reneau took the initiative and got 2 successful takedowns on Pena. Nothing significant occurred with them but at least she looks interested. Pena doesn't seem interested.

Reneau 20-18

Round 3;

Pena finally seemed to look alive in this round and started to dish out some punishment. Reneau, however, just barrelled through the punches thrown and landed and kept coming. A tight round in a bit of a yawner of a fight. Could've gone either way but I give it to Pena.

Reneau 29-28

Marion Reneau defeats Julianna Pena by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Round 1;

The crowd were 'hyped' for the debut of CM Punk. A cagey opening round, a lot of punches were thrown, less than half landed but the ones that did, hurt! Punk narrowly takes this one.

Punk 10-9

Round 2;

Santos came out swinging in the opening seconds. A solid combination from Santos rocks Punk and has him looking wobbly. He recovers well and keeps Santos at bay with some smart striking. Tight to call this one.

Round 3;

Another fairly average round, Punk got a few successful takedowns and kept Santos at bay for most of the round. These 2 are fairly even fighters but Punk takes this round.

Punk 29-28

CM Punk defeats Thiago Santos by UD (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

A solid round full of action, the fans are into this Main Event. The 2 men stand and trade strikes. Evans takes the opener.

Evans 10-9

Round 2;

Another round of the 2 trading punches. Jackson threw a wild hook and was met with a crunching uppercut that sent him tumbling. Evans capitalised and threw some thunderous ground and pound shots but, somehow, Jackson is still in this thing.

Evans 20-18

Round 3;

Jackson, true to his nickname, threw wild punches and seemed to gas himself out. Evans, played it cool and clever, waited for his opportunities and threw some brutal strikes that rocked Jackson as Rampage went tumbling to the ground, Evans came flying in with a crunching right hook that KO's Jackson.

Round 1;

A brilliantly exciting round, Khalidov is clearly keen to entertain the fans. Aggressive from the outset, he threw brilliant combinations as Bosse just tried to counter everything. In the final seconds, Bosse successfully got a takedown but Khalidov grabbed a Guillotine choke on the way down. A few extra seconds and it would've been over.

Khalidov 10-9

Round 2;

This round starts the way the first ended. Bosse with a takedown, Khalidov grabs a guillotine choke and Bosse taps. Quick finish and the fans are on their feet.

An outstanding round that was dominated by the 'Korean Super Boy'. A stunning variety of combinations were thrown, it was domination. In the dying seconds, Choi lands a brilliant 3 punch combo that knocksdown Grice but the bell rings before he can finish.

Round 2;

Another solid round. Grice got a bit more offense in but Choi still easily got the better of the exchanges. The youngster is in fine form.

Choi 20-18

Round 3;

The fight got duller as the rounds wore on. Both men seemed keen to try to takedown the other, but with little success. Choi still got the better of the round, though.

Choi 30-27

Doo Ho Choi defeats Matt Grice by UD (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

Despite being primarily fought up against the cage, that was an exciting round of action. Nothing significant happens, but the fans are eating it up. Very close round. I'll give it to Nunes

Round 2;

Nunes is happy to keep Carmouche at a distance with scything kicks, where-as Liz wants to grapple and get inside. Another tight round but Liz gets the better of the exchanges and it's all to fight for.

Round 3

Another tight round. Carmouche is limping from the kicks she's been taking to her legs, but a sharp elbow cuts Nunes right above her eye. The doctor deems her fit to continue. The 2 trade strikes back and forth, neither really committing to going for a knockout. Bell rings. Very little to split these 2.

Carmouche 29-28

Liz Carmouche defeats Amanda Nunes by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Round 1;

54 seconds and it's over. Bisping comes out swinging wildly, lands a few solid shots. Boetsch waits for his moment lands a stunning jab and hook combo which knocks Bisping to the floor. He follows it up, raining down hammerfists and Herb Dean calls it off.

Round 1;

Duffee is highly trained in Wrestling but he wanted to go toe-to-toe, punch for punch with 'The Last Emperor' and paid for it. He struggled to find a way in as Fedor landed punishing jabs and straights. Fedor landed 2 jabs, followed by a right hook which led Duffee to stumble about. Emelianenko followed it up with a monstrous right hand and Duffee was out cold before he hit the canvas. Welcome to the UFC, Fedor Emelianenko!

This Featherweight Championship bout got off to a cagey opening. Both men stayed on their feet but a lot of punches were missed. Fairly average first round goes the way of the Champ.

McGregor 10-9

Round 2;

This round was a bit more lively and the fans seemed more engaged, but followed the pattern of the first. Standing and striking with nothing of significance happening. McGregor is up 2-0.

McGregor 20-18

Round 3;

A round very similar to the first 2, sprung into life in the last 30 seconds. McGregor lands a crunching right hook which knocks down Edgar but McGregor holds his right hand in pain. Could be serious. McGregor didn't capitalise on the knockdown but leads 3 rounds to 0 and now it's interesting!

McGregor 30-27

Round 4;

McGregor's combination of a left jab followed by a right hook is working wonders as Edgar can't defend against it. 'The Answer', funnily enough, has no answer to it and is just swinging wildly hoping to get a lucky shot in. One round left.

McGregor 40-36

Round 5;

Much like the first 4, it was fought standing and swinging. Fairly uneventful until the last 90 seconds when McGregor floors Edgar with a vicious head kick. He couldn't capitalise and end it but McGregor looked good here in his first defence, even if it was fairly average.

McGregor 50-45

Conor McGregor defeats Frankie Edgar by UD (50-45, 49-46, 50-45) and is still UFC Featherweight Champion!

UFC Fight Night: Liddell vs Bodao is only 2 weeks away and Magomed Mustafaev has withdrawn from his Lightweight Bout vs Takanori Gomi. However, Michael Johnson, who was last seen in December in a loss to Nate Diaz, has stepped in on only 2 weeks notice to take the fight in Portland, Oregon.

Even at only 29 years old, Johnson is a veteran of the octagon with 8 wins and 5 losses under his belt. He goes into the new bout as the underdog, but a win here could give him a momentum boost.

UFC 200 set to be a 2 event weekend.

Dana White said recently that the run-up to UFC 200 will be 'marquee event after marquee event' and based on the rumour mill coming out of the company, he's not wrong. There are, allegedly, some stellar cards set up for the month of July but, further to that, it is being said that the weekend of UFC 200 will host 2 major UFC events. On the Friday evening will be a UFC Fight Night, card TBA. Then UFC 200 will occur on the following Saturday night. There were rumours of there potentially being a 3rd card on the Sunday night but that appears to no longer be the case

An exciting opening bout. The two men were happy standing and trading strikes back and forth. Neither man seemed to gain a clear advantage until the dying seconds when Johnson landed a hook but as it landed he was caught with a jaw shattering uppercut that knocked him out cold.

The order of the night, so far, appears to be keep swinging and see who can stay up the longest. Decent opening round goes the way of Chambers who's more effective striking.

A round absolutely dominated by Chambers, her right hooks are leaving Moroz with no response. The round got a little dirty when Chambers accidentally poked Moroz in the eye and Moroz responded in kind 90 seconds later. Chambers gave her a receipt for it though and knocked her down with a vicious uppercut. The bell saves Moroz but a round dominated by Chambers.

Chambers 20-18

Round 3;

This round follows the same format as the previous. Moroz relying on counters to get anything on Chambers as 'Astro Girl' just pummels 'The Iron Lady' with crunching strikes. Moroz is knocked down again but defends well against the ground and pound as the bell rings.

Chambers 30-27

Alex Chambers defeats Maryna Moroz via UD (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

Round 1;

Munhoz wanted to stand and strike. Holdsworth couldn't get him to the ground fast enough. Scrambling ensues with each guy trying to counter the other but eventually Munhoz is caught in a Triangle Armbar and taps out.

Round 1;

McCrory came in the heavy favourite and quickly showed why. He peppered 'The Reaper' with vicious strikes that swiftly knocked him to the mat. He capitalised with monstrous hammer fists and the ref steps in.

Round 1;

These welterweights fought a very even first round with neither man gaining a clear advantage over the other. Kim, perhaps, narrowly takes it though.

Kim 10-9

Round 2;

'Stun Gun' lives up to his name. A few straights leave Brown reeling but a single, brutal left hook KO's Brown.

Round 1;

Barroso ignores the touch of gloves and quickly regrets it. Liddell is clearly fired up and brilliant combinations leave 'Bodao' stunned. A crunching right sends him crashing to the mat. Liddell rains fists down but Barroso deals with them and eventually they're back to standing as the bell signals the end of the round.

Liddell 10-9

Round 2;

Liddell looks in outstanding form and condition but his ground and pound has lost a step in the last 7 years. A solid combo ending with a right uppercut sends 'Bodao' to the floor for the second time in the fight but 'The Iceman' can't capitalise. Barros attempts an arm triangle but is unsuccessful and round 2 is over.

Liddell 20-18

Round 3;

30 seconds into the round and, again, Liddell knocks Barroso down to the mat but, like before, he can't finish it. The rest of the round is ultimately Barroso trying to manage the onslaught and survive.

Liddell 30-27

Round 4;

2 minutes into the round, a stunning right hook wobbles 'Bodao' and again he hits the mat. But, much like the previous 3 rounds, the fight continues and he weathers the storm. Liddell's standing strikes look better than ever but has he lost that killer instinct?

Liddell 40-36

Round 5;

An incredibly close round was fought primarily in a variety of guard positions. 'Bodao' wasn't knocked to the ground this round and, went he isn't looking dazed and getting knocked about, he looked like he could have finished Liddell. He didn't, however, and this one is over.

Liddell 49-46

Chuck Liddell defeats Francimar 'Bodao' Barroso by Split Decision (49-46. 46-49, 49-46)

Editor Note; No idea what that 2nd judge was smoking during that fight. A split decision is an embarrassing call but at least the right man won.

UFC - NEWS UPDATE

Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone has suffered a freak pelvic injury which will see him out of action for at least a year. No news on what exactly has happened but it's a terrible blow for the Lightweight. That left the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Rothwell vs Dos Santos up in the air. Officials were quick to react though and Tony Ferguson steps into his place in what is now #5 vs #3 in the Lightweight rankings.

Cormier vs Jones II may still happen

Despite Jones withdrawing from UFC 196, it seems he still remains the #1 contender to Daniel Cormier's Light Heavyweight title and with Cormier keen to get back into the octagon, so soon after defeating Yoel Romero, there's a likely possibility that one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history could headline the UFC 200 card. No confirmation on that yet but some inside the company say it's likely.

Round 1;

A decent opening round from these 2. They traded blows back and forth with Pacheco having the upper hand throughout the round.

Pacheco 10-9

Round 2;

Letourneau came back strongly in this round keeping Pacheco smothered against the cage for most of it and getting the punches in there. All to fight for.

19-19

Round 3;

Letourneau got the early take down and never really let up from there. Scrambling and smothering ensued and Pacheco couldn't develop any real offence. The fight ends.

Letourneau 29-28

Valerie Letourneau defeats Larissa Pacheco by UD (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)

Round 1;

Maldonado had the better of the early stages of the round with the superior striking game but towards the end, Wilson found an opening, got a takedown and swiftly locked in a Triangle Armbar to get the win from out of nowhere.

Round 1;

A great early start, Kennedy quickly grappled and slams Leites to the ground but as they pull guard Leites attempts the Kimura which Kennedy swiftly escapes. The round was a standard affair from there. Even start.

Round 2;

Another great early start to the round, Kennedy lands solid combinations to leave Leites reeling. Leites gets his wits about him and attempts to takedown Kennedy but the wrestler locks in a guillotine on his way down and forces the tap.

Round 1;

An absolutely outstanding round of action. Non-stop from bell to bell. Tightly contested with neither man giving an inch, Barboza was the more efficient striker of the 2 and defended well against takedowns. But this could go either way.

Barboza 10-9

Round 2;

The entire audience is on their feet with all eyes glued on the octagon. Masvidal managed to negate Barboza's effectiveness in striking by taking the fight to the ground. Barboza survived several submission attempts and this fight can go either way.

19-19

Round 3;

Another close round that wasn't quite as intense as the previous ones. Both men had their moments to gain an advantage over the other but neither capitalised and as the round, and fight ends, it's tough to call this one but I'd just give it to Masvidal.

Masvidal 29-28

Edson Barboza defeats Jorge Masvidal by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Barboza calls out Dustin Poirier in the post-match interview.

Round 1;

A cagey opening round that was fought on the ground with both scrambling and countering the others submission attempts. Nothing to get excited about here but Tate is 1 round to the good.

Tate 10-9

Round 2;

Zingano is showing excellent resilience and submission defence here as she's blocked Tate's relentless attempts at locking in a submission. However, Tate has succeeded on every takedown attempt so far and Zingano is struggling to mount any offence with only 1 round to go and a finish required.

Tate 20-18

Round 3;

A round much like the previous, Zingano couldn't land any serious strikes and Tate, again, takes the fight to the ground. 'Alpha' continued to defend well but 'Cupcake' takes this one comfortably.

Tate 30-27

Miesha Tate defeats Cat Zingano by UD (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Tate makes her intentions clear in the post-fight interview and calls out Ronda Rousey for a fight!

Round 1;

Well, folks, I hope you weren't settling in and expecting a full 5 rounder here. Miocic came in the betting underdog and clearly laughed at that notion. A few practice jabs are thrown by each man before Overeem attempts a head kick that is well wide of the mark. As his foot plants on the ground, Miocic clocks him with a jaw-shattering uppercut that instantly KO's Overeem. We're done.

Only a week after being slotted in to replace Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC Fight Night: Rothwell vs Dos Santos, it has been announced that Tony Ferguson has had to withdraw from the bout with a groin injury and will be out for approximately 3 months. Islam Makhachev is now the next man to step in and fight Anthony Pettis. It's a big step up for the 24 year old from Ukraine, last seen on the prelims for UFC Fight Pass: Poirier vs Dariush, to feature in the co-main event against the #5 ranked Lightweight. But, if there was ever a time to make yourself known and make an impact, this would be it.

Round 1;

disappointing start to the main card for the evening. A dull round consisting mainly of unsuccessful takedowns comes to an end. Hard to give it to either guy but Ortiz probably takes it.

Ortis 10-9

Round 2;

Slightly more action than the first round, still nothing to get excited about. Ortiz takes this one, though.

Ortiz 20-18

Round 3;

Seems like the fans breathe a sigh of relief knowing that this dud of a fight is over. A fairly dull fight comes to an end but credit to Ortiz for playing to his strengths.

Ortis 30-27

Louis Smolka defeats Dustin Ortiz by Split Decision (27-30, 29-28, 30-27)

Editor's note; A dull fight but that's an abysmal decision. No way Smolka should've won this.

Round 1;

An improvement on the first fight, these 2 women are bringing it. Esparza gets the early knockdown but can't finish. The 2 fight on the ground but Aguilar blocks several submission attempts. Good round. More of the same, please.

Esparza 10-9

Round 2;

A very even round. Neither gaining a striking advantage over the other. Tight to call but Esparza edges it.

Esparza 20-18

Round 3;

Aguilar came out swinging here but wasn't accurate enough and paid. A couple of wild swings led to an opening and Esparza drops her with a hook punch that ends this fight.

Round 1;

Wade brings the fight to the ground and uses his superior ground game to his advantage. Wade couldn't lock in a submission but he takes the round.

Wade 10-9

Round 2;

Wade instantly took Iaquinta to the ground again and for the next, almost, 5 minutes they scrambled and fought for position. With seconds left, Wade capitalises on a gap in Iaquinta's defence and locks in a rear naked choke for the win.

Round 1;

These 2 featherweights came to fight. Both give as good as they get and each is happy to keep it standing. Aldo has the advantage so far but that could change very quickly.

Aldo 10-9

Round 2;

This round got the fans on their feet. The first half was a slow affair with both swinging away. At the halfway point a wicked combination wobbles Swanson and sends him to the ground. Aldo can't finish it though and, somehow, Swanson reverses the momentum to try a Kimura but Aldo is wise to it and avoids. Neither man is going to give up this one easily, but Swanson needs a finish.

Aldo 20-18

Round 3;

Swanson looked eager to get the finish but never had a chance. The 2 touched gloves then Aldo sprung a right hook, as if from nowhere, that KO'd Swanson immediately.

Round 1;

History favours Johnson here to the tune of 2-0 but the bookmakers think Benavidez will just sneak it. Wary opening to the championship bout, it was tight but the champ takes the first round.

Johnson 10-9

Round 2;

A great round full of action, Johnson is happy throwing the punches and landing crunching shots. Benavidez keeps coming though and kicks away at Johnson's legs causing the champ to begin to limp slightly, feeling the pain. Johnson still takes it though.

Johnson 20-18

Round 3;

Johnson's striking game is starting to take its toll on Benavidez. Bored of getting hit in the face, the challenger takes down Johnson and attempts to lock in submissions but the champ's defence game is strong. The fight rolls on.

Johnson 30-27

Round 4;

Benavidez knows he's running out of rounds so immediately gets a takedown on 'Might Mouse'. He can't lock anything down but his ground game is stronger. The ref brings them back to standing as Johnson limps around. Perhaps he was playing possum though as he swiftly springs to life, lands two jabs followed by an uppercut and this one's over. The champ retains.

Demetrious Johnson KO's (Punch) Joseph Benavidez @ 4:09 of Round 4 and is still the UFC Flyweight Champion.

Round 1;

The fans are hyped for the return of Brock Lesnar to the octagon, not to mention this rematch of epic proportions. The two feel each other out. Velasquez lands a right hook to the hip of Lesnar and appears to have hurt his hand. Lesnar takes advantage and goes on to have the stronger round.

Lesnar 10-9

Round 2;

An exciting round, people didn't expect the fight to go this long. Lesnar lands some great strikes but Velasquez shoots in forcing Brock against the cage. Nothing worthwhile materialises but Cain shows that Lesnar needs to stay wary.

Lesnar 20-18

Round 3;

Another round in favour of Lesnar. Velasquez is struggling with his strikes throwing many wide of the mark. Brock is able to make the most of openings and punish Velasquez as we make it to round 4.

Lesnar 30-27

Round 4;

Velasquez takes the fight to the ground as the two experienced wrestlers try to better the other. Lesnar deals with the Ground and Pound game well but can't mount any offence from the bottom. Round 4 to Velasquez, but he needs a finish.

Lesnar 39-37

Round 5;

Lesnar is starting to look gassed. Perhaps it's ring rust or perhaps it's that Heavyweight fights aren't known for going 5 rounds. Cain takes him to the floor and begins to punish Brock. Lesnar, clearly tiring, is struggling to deal with the onslaught. Cain switches positions as Brock gives up his back. He blocks the first attempt at a rear naked choke but can't block the second as Cain locks it in. Brock just hangs on though and the bell rings to end this Heavyweight contest. An extra 3 seconds in this round and Brock would've tapped out.

Lesnar 48-47

Brock Lesnar defeats Cain Velasquez by Split Decision (46-49, 48-47, 48-47)
