Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2005)

2004 was a big year for TNA. In May TNA made the switch from weekly pay-per-view to weekly TV by debuting Impact on Fox Sports Net, allowing more fans to watch the company. November saw even bigger changes as TNA began using the monthly pay-per-view model favoured by the likes of WWE, WCW and ECW in the past, beginning with Victory Road on November 7th that was headlined by a ladder match between "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy and "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett for Jarrett's NWA World Heavyweight title with Jarrett coming out on top. The following month saw TNA take it up a level with Turning Point, headlined by a Six Sides of Steel match between America's Most Wanted and Triple X that saw a moment that will go down in the history of professional wrestling when Elix Skipper walked across the top of the cage and delivered a hurricanrana to Chris Harris. AMW however walked out on top, forcing Triple X to disband.

2005 is around the corner and the challenge for TNA is to continue to grow as they head towards their third year in business and could be make-or-break. The monthly pay-per-view schedule is in full flow with Final Resolution just around the corner and the television deal with Fox Sports Net is due to expire in June, will TNA extend their deal or will they be looking to expand and try and find a new home?

So this is my first attempt at a diary on these boards. I've done a few elsewhere but they've struggled to keep my interest. I've booked the first three months of this game already and have plans for a while more, so I feel that I'm invested enough to do something like this.

This will be very result heavy, you won't see match write-ups here but I'll try and provide details on import moments when I think they're needed.

Hopefully people enjoy it, I know I have been so that's a start right?

TNA Impact! - 7/1/2005

Soundstage 21, Universal Studios - Orlando, Florida: 1,400

Show Rating: C

  • Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash opened the show with the NWA World Heavyweight champion Jarrett taking centre stage as he complained about the uncertainty about his title defence at Final Resolution and called out Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes to answer to him. Dusty told Jarrett that he doesn't answer to him and this prompted Nash to step forward and issue his own complaint about having to wrestle twice at Final Resolution, adding that he was "pretty sure that's not fair". Jarrett didn't take kindly to that but brushed over it before Dusty said that he has just had a great idea; he's going to make a change but before he could explain what it was, Jarrett thanked him for seeing sense. Jarrett wasn't so thankful a few moments later when Dusty declared that the triple threat would take place next week, allowing Jarrett more time to prepare but that would only happen if Jarrett won his match tonight! Dusty explained that if Jarrett fails to win tonight the match at Final Resolution would be a fatal four way including Nash, Diamond Dallas Page and Monty Brown "and whoever is the champion", adding that Jarrett's match tonight would be against one third of a group who the Kings of Wrestling have had a few issues with; 3 Live Kru! Dusty added that the title would be on the line, adding that if either Hall or Nash got involved Jarrett would be disqualified and the the 3 Live Kru member would become champion! C

  • Elix Skipper defeated Sonny Siaki (4:55) via pinfall with the Play of the Day E+

  • The victorious Elix Skipper grabbed the house microphone and verbally berated Sonny Siaki for not being "real competition", complained about having to team with "losers" like The Naturals last week and generally being overlooked since putting TNA on the map at Turning Point D-

  • Shane Douglas was with Roddy Piper and wanted to know his answer to the challenge of Scott Hall from last week. Piper said that nobody wants to see a 50-year man get in the ring in 2005 "but I ain't no ordinary 50-year old man", adding that he's never backed down from a fight and he knows he'll be fighting nurses in the nursing home before walking away without giving a definitive answer C

  • AJ Styles defeated Michael Shane (5:09) via pinfall with the Styles Clash C-

  • Petey Williams ran down and attacked the tired AJ Styles and laid him out with the Canadian Destroyer. Suddenly Chris Sabin ran out and brawled with the X Division champion and took him down with the Future Shock before Christopher Daniels came out and got in Sabin's face, claiming he was going to win their match next week and be inserted into the Ultimate X match at Final Resolution. The two bickered for a minute until Daniels blasted him from behind and hit the Last Rites C-

  • Jeff Jarrett was pacing in the back but Kevin Nash seemed pretty relaxed considering what is at stake tonight. Jarrett picked up on this and wanted suggestions from both Nash and Scott Hall about who from the 3 Live Kru he'd be facing, but Nash just started laughing, wondering what happened to Hector Garza before trying to remember the name of the masked "mysterious" guy from WCW he lawndarted. Jarrett stormed out of the locker room, leaving Nash and Hall to look at each other in bewilderment D+

  • America's Most Wanted and Dustin Rhodes defeated The Naturals and Kid Kash (9:37) via pinfall when Dustin Rhodes pinned Andy Douglas with the Lone Star State of Mind D+

  • Diamond Dallas Page was with Shane Douglas who asked about the issues he's been having with Raven and Erik Watts of late. DDP said he's a positive guy and always will be but having your friends turn on you is challenging his positivity because he thought both Raven and Watts were his friends and said he has no idea what Raven is talking about by saying he has ruined Watts' private life "but I want answers next week Erik". Douglas then wanted DDP's thoughts on the NWA World Heavyweight title situation and DDP wished whoever was facing Jarrett tonight good luck and said it doesn't matter if it's one-on-one, triple threat or a fatal four way, he's backing himself to win and make "whoever it is fell the bang" C-

  • Just before the main event, Jeff Jarrett paced in the ring until 3 Live Kru came out and the question of who Jarrett's opponent would be was quickly answered as Konnan stepped up D+

  • NWA World Heavyweight Title: Jeff Jarrett © defeated Konnan (8:56) via pinfall after The Stroke onto the NWA title after Scott Hall, dressed in full Mexican attire came out and distracted Konnan C

Hector Garza released by TNA

7/1/2005

wCwqQB7.jpg

We understand that Hector Garza has had his contract with TNA terminated after he turned up to tonight's Impact taping high on drugs. While the specifics are unclear, TNA made the decision that keeping him around wasn't worth the risk, despite his program with the Kings of Wrestling.

Garza was originally scheduled to face Jeff Jarrett on the show for the NWA World Heavyweight title but was replaced by Konnan. The reason Konnan was selected was literally due to the fact that the bookers had arranged for the Mexican get up Scott Hall wore and didn't want it to go to waste.

TNA are open to working with Garza and still have a working relationship with AAA and may look to bring him back in the future.

TNA Impact! - 14/1/2005

Soundstage 21, Universal Studios - Orlando, Florida: 1,400

Show Rating: D+

  • Petey Williams and Johnny Devine defeated AJ Styles and Sonjay Dutt (4:52) via pinfall when Petey Williams pinned Sonjay Dutt after the Canadian Destroyer D

  • It was time for the smug NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarrett to head out. Accompanied by his fellow Kings of Wrestling co-horts Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, with Hall still "accidentally" sporting his Mexican mustache from last week. Jarrett said he proved the doubters wrong again just like him will at Final Resolution and said Monty Brown and Diamond Dallas Page don't have a hope tonight because "The Big Sexy Silver Fox" is standing in their way and then when it's Jarrett and Nash this Sunday, "well let's just say we have a gentlemans understanding". They were then interrupted by Roddy Piper who walked out mock throwing up, saying he's heard enough of that and that it's time for him to say his piece as he has just spoken with Dusty Rhodes and got a match signed; Scott Hall vs. Roddy Piper! Piper said he's been waiting a long time to gets a chance to shut Hall up, but that isn't all "oh no"; if Nash doesn't win tonight he gets inserted to the match and it'll be Hall and Nash against Piper and a surprise partner! C

  • Ron Killings defeated Chris Candido (6:19) via pinfall after the scissors kick D+

  • A short video package aired highlighting Elix Skipper's last month including the match that led to the break up of Triple X and the breathtaking move therin before Shane Doulas introduced Skipper as his guest and asked him about his issues. Skipper talked about how nobody takes risks like him, stating the "cage-walk 'rana" could have killed him but he did it to win but his "so-called friend" Christopher Daniels screwed up yet he's in with a chance to win the X Division title this Sunday and he has no match, and that ain't right so he issued a challenge for a high-profile match befitting his calibre D

  • Team Canada were out for Bobby Roode's match with James Storm and Coach Scott D'Amore had a few words for America's Most Wanted and America in general, promoting the superiority of Canada and his team, not just Roode and Eric Young but also Johnny Devine and the X Division champion Petey Williams "who will still be X Division champion after Final Resolution". He then hyped up the enforcer of the group Bobby Roode will face "Cowboy" James Storm next F+

  • Bobby Roode defeated James Storm (6:43) via pinfall after the Northern Lariat following distraction by Eric Young D-

  • Chris Harris attempted to the draw the referee's attention to Eric Young's distraction but to no avail, but Harris himself however was attacked from behind by both Johnny Devine and Eric Young, leading to both members of America's Most Wanted being laid out just days away from their big NWA Tag Team title match at Final Resolution E+

  • Monty Brown defeated Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page (6:52) via pinfall after The Pounce to DDP following interference from Scott Hall, Roddy Piper, Raven and Erik Watts C-

  • Unsurprisingly, Jeff Jarrett was absolutely fuming after having watched the match on a monitor backstage. Jarrett tossed the monitor aside as Dusty Rhodes walked in smiling, telling Jarrett that he would indeed be facing "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown at Final Resolution C+

  • In the back, Diamond Dallas Page was getting his shoulder checked by the doctors after receiving the damaging Pounce when Erik Watts and Raven approached. DDP asked if they were really going to attack an injured man and Raven replied that he'd have no qualms about doing it but Watts wants DDP healthy so he can destroy him at Final Resolution. DDP was shocked at the announcement and tried to talk with Watts only to be blown off as Raven and a silent Watts walked off D+

  • Christopher Daniels defeated Chris Sabin (8:58) via pinfall after countering the Cradle Shock into a roll-up to advance to the Ultimate X match at Final Resolution D

<p>NWA World Heavyweight Title: <strong>Jeff Jarrett </strong>vs. Monty Brown</p><p>

<em>Probably through some sort of shenanigans/guitar-related issues or other interference. Brown needs to be kept strong as a top face, but Jarrett shouldn't be losing the title to him at the first attempt.</em></p><p> </p><p>

TNA X Division Title: <strong>Petey Williams </strong>vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels</p><p>

<em>I'm a fan of Petey from 2005-2010ish, and I think he has great promise in TNA as the main man in the X Division. He probably shouldn't be beating AJ and Daniels on a regular basis, but those two ought to be being groomed to be better than the X Division, so unless a very short reign in planned, I would keep the title on Petey and let the other two feud separately.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

NWA World Tag Team Titles: <strong>Team Canada </strong>vs. America's Most Wanted</p><p>

<em>Retention by Team Canada to set up further matches with AMW down the line. Some interference from Scott D'amore or others to sway it.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Kevin Nash & Scott Hall </strong>vs. Roddy Piper & ???</p><p>

<em>I doubt Nash will do the job here unless Piper's partner is someone from the very top draw. If it turns out to be Hogan or Flair all bets are off, but otherwise the Outsiders should take this.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong> vs. Erik Watts</p><p>

<em>Watts has very little going for him, so to beat DDP would be a big shock.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Elix Skipper vs. <strong>Jeff Hardy</strong></p><p>

<em>Hardy is recently coming off a spell headlining against Jarrett, and needs some rebuilding. He can't be losing to Skipper here, who has very little build or momentum given the dissolution of Triple X.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Dustin Rhodes </strong>vs. Kid Kash</p><p>

<em>Bit of a pick 'em here, but Dustin is the more well-rounded wrestler and has greater character possibilities than Total Non-stop Attitude.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>3 Live Kru </strong>vs. Chris Candido, Kazarian & Michael Shane</p><p>

<em>If in doubt, go with the established team. Some reward is needed for Konnan filling in to do the job against Jarrett.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Question: Who is Roddy Piper’s mystery partner? <strong>Abyss</strong></p>

<p>NWA World Heavyweight Title: Jeff Jarrett vs. <strong>Monty Brown</strong></p><p>

<em>Time to take the belt from Jarrett and give it to literally anyone else.</em></p><p>

TNA X Division Title: Petey Williams vs. AJ Styles vs. <strong>Christopher Daniels</strong></p><p>

<em>Logic dictates that the Heel pins the champion to continue the feud with the babyface over the title.</em></p><p>

NWA World Tag Team Titles: <strong>Team Canada</strong> vs. America's Most Wanted</p><p>

<em>Love AMW, but it's too early for Team Canada to drop the belts.</em></p><p>

Kevin Nash & Scott Hall vs. <strong>Roddy Piper & ???</strong></p><p>

<em>I'm guessing the "new guy" will get the rub from "Hall & Nash" in this bout.</em></p><p>

<strong>Diamond Dallas Page</strong> vs. Erik Watts</p><p>

<em>At this point, Watts has realized most of his potential, and it isn't going to win him this match.</em></p><p>

Elix Skipper vs. <strong>Jeff Hardy</strong></p><p>

<em>Jeff's sobriety will dictate his fortune. I'm assuming he's sober until proven wasted</em></p><p>

<strong>Dustin Rhodes</strong> vs. Kid Kash</p><p>

<em>Squash matcch.</em></p><p>

3 Live Kru vs. <strong>Chris Candido, Kazarian & Michael Shane</strong></p><p>

<em>Candido, Kazarian and Shane have far more talent at this point.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Question: Who is Roddy Piper’s mystery partner? <strong>Sean O'Haire</strong></p>

<p>Love this time period to book TNA can be set to push to the moon i do exactly what you have why would you not bring Hall Nash DDP in for that added star power. I do how ever bring them in for the sole purpose of getting the young talent over and the most shocking thing I do is I use Russo as my UC as a kind of redemption of his career type deal.</p><p> </p><p>

Keep up the good work man.</p>

</span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#000000;">After highlights of Final Resolution concluded, another exciting edition on Impact kicked off with the man who stole the victory in the main event, the NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarrett making his way to the ring accompanied by Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and their new ally Kip Gunn. Jarrett reminded everyone that he guaranteed victory and said he delivers on his guarantees before handing over to Gunn, who he introduced as the greatest tag team wrestler of all time. Gunn mocked the fans for booing him and said he came to TNA to be a winner and the only way to be a winner is to stand alongside these men, not Roddy Piper, asking what he had accomplished in his career, citing the lack of gold down the years. Gunn said he used Piper to get a contract in TNA and now he's here there is nothing anyone can do about it. This brought out Dusty Rhodes who said Gunn wasn't quite right because now he's under contract with TNA, he can be booked in matches, which is what he's doing now as Gunn will face "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown in the main event! </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>B-</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;">Mike Tenay and Don West gave a medical update on Roddy Piper, who had suffered internal injuries at the hands of the Kings of Wrestling and his return date (if he does return) is unknown </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>B-</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;"><em>Dustin Rhodes defeated Lance Hoyt </em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em><strong>(5:05)</strong></em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> via disqualification after Abyss attacked Dustin. He said Watts is making all of these claims but hasn't had the guts to say anything to DDP himself and so next week he's going to be in the ring, he's going to call Watts out and he wants answers "and I ain't taking no for an answer" </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>D+</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;"><em>Christopher Daniels defeated Sonjay Dutt </em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em><strong>(6:23)</strong></em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> via pinfall after Angel's Wings</em></span><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C-</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;">The new TNA X Division champion Christopher Daniels had a successful first outing as champion and took the time to hype himself up as being the man of the future "who will take the X Division to new heights". Daniels mocked him, saying he blew his chance at Final Resolution when he got knocked out with the Canadian Destroyer before telling him that he'd have to earn a match because his history means nothing to him. Chris Harris said they were seconds away from winning the NWA World Tag Team titles at Final Resolution when Scott D'Amore had to stick his nose into the match and screwed them out of the titles. James Storm said they've got a couple of things they want to say and called out Team Canada, only for Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt to walk out instead with Kash telling AMW to step aside, saying they are the top tag team in TNA and they are back now to reclaim their throne. The four bickered for a minute until the anthem of Team Canada played, bringing out the champions and their coach, but this just served as a distraction for AMW who turned to face the ramp, giving Kash and Hoyt an opening to attack them from behind and leave them laying </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>D</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;"><em>Monty Brown defeated Kip Gunn </em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em><strong>(3:27)</strong></em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> via disqualification the Kings of Wrestling interfered and attacked Brown</em></span><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C-</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;">Chaos broke out as Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Kip Gunn assaulted Monty Brown for a few seconds until the 3 Live Kru ran out to even the odds, continuing the chaos as an eight-man brawl. James talked about his friendship with Gunn and how they were two nobodies in WWE until they came together and became the best tag team in the world and that made them more than partners, it made them brothers and so he called Gunn out to explain himself. It wasn't Gunn however who answered the call, it was Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and Nash took exception to James calling him and Gunn the best tag team ever, saying the Outsiders were six-time champions while the Outlaws were only five-time champions. Konnan interrupted and told them that they wanted an answer from Gunn, but Nash pointed out that unfortunately Gunn wasn't here tonight, which made Killings reply that if that is the case there ain't anything left to say before dropping the mic and beginning to head up the ramp. Fortunately this brought out Dusty Rhodes who reminded everyone that they would get their hands on one-another at Against All Odds but he didn't want another wild brawl so for next week he made Kevin Nash and Scott Hall vs. 3 Live Kru but for tonight he told Hall that he looked ready to go and made Hall vs. Killings next! </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C+</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;"><em>Scott Hall defeated Ron Killings </em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em><strong>(4:38)</strong></em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> via pinfall after Kip Gunn snuck in through the crowd and attacked Konnan, drawing everyone's attention, allowing Kevin Nash to toss Hall a lead pipe that he used to blast Killings with</em></span><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;">Elix Skipper spoke to Shane Douglas about being overlooked yet again with his supposed friend Christopher Daniels overlooking him for an X Division title match, instead offering one up to AJ Styles. DDP apologised and said he didn't know but told Watts that he can't blame him for everything, he has to own his problems and offered to help him on his way. </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> Watts was considering the proposition for a moment when Raven attacked DDP from behind! Page tried to cover up as Raven delivered the Evenflow DDT while Watts just stood by watching. Raven then yelled at Watts that DDP wasn't his friend, reminding him of ""everything he cost him"" before encouraging him to attack with him. Watts just walked away as Raven watched before standing over DDP" </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C+</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;"><em>Abyss defeated Johnny B. Badd before the got to his feet, brought Badd with him and set him up for Shock Treatment. However from the back came Dustin Rhodes who definitely saved Badd from devastating manoeuvre and went toe-to-toe with Abyss, having the advantage this time of not being taken from behind, but Abyss was far more powerful and nearly turned Dustin inside out with a running clothesline. Abyss then went under the ring and returned with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, but fortunately Dustin Rhodes was able to roll out the ring and make an hasty escape up the ramp </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;">Monty Brown was not in a good mood when he came to the ring to speak to Mike Tenay. When asked about his thoughts on the Against All Odds main event, Brown was not impressed simply because the NWA World Heavyweight title wasn't on the line. He said he has no issued with any of 3 Live Kru but he has no interest in teaming with them because he wants Jeff Jarrett one-on-one and wants to bring the title back to the Serengeti. Tenay posited that a victory at the pay-per-view might put him in good sted for a future title match, but Brown said he's earned his shot and been screwed twice, he doesn't have to earn it again but make no mistake about it, when he gets in the ring at Against All Odds, the gloves are coming off and he will take Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Kip Gunn down "and Jeff Jarrett, get ready to feel the pounce!" </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;"><em>Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt defeated America's Most Wanted </em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em><strong>(4:39)</strong></em></span><span style="color:#000000;"><em> via pinfall when Lance Hoyt pinned Chris Harris after a Texas Tower Bomb following interference from Michael Shane and Kazarian, who attacked James Storm and Kid Kash on the outside</em></span><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>C-</strong></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"> </span><br /></li><li><span style="color:#000000;">Michael Shane and Kazarian made a quick getaway and met Traci at the top of the ramp before all three disappeared backstage, where Shane Douglas was able to catch up with them and asked what they were playing it! Hall worked the first show of the tapings but was sent home before the second show (due to air 28th January).</p><p> </p><p> This isn't the first time Hall has turned up drunk, in fact just two weeks before Final Resolution he did the same thing. He was fined at the time and warned about his actions with Hall apparently offering assurances that it wouldn't happen again. Management decided to give Hall a chance as they believed he was trying to turn his life around, not to mention being so close to the first pay-per-view of the year and having no easy replacement for him, they didn't want to ruin the angle they had been building for over a month.</p><p> </p><p> With the main event for the just announced Against All Odds event being revealed as an eight-man tag pitting the Kings of Wrestling (Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, Kip Gunn and Scott Hall) against Monty Brown and the 3 Live Kru, TNA will have to make a change to the match, either by completely changing the main event or replacing Hall in the main event. Several names were backstage at the taping so it's possible one of them could step in (yes we're keeping this completely spoiler free by pretending we don't know what went down).</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44513" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Ooopsy, made a boo boo. TNA Impact! - 04/02/2005

Soundstage 21, Universal Studios - Orlando, Florida: 1,400

Show Rating: C+

  • America's Most Wanted defeated Michael Shane and Kazarian (5:39) via pinfall when Chris Harris pinned Kazarian after a Death Sentence. During the match, it was announced that due to "circumstances beyond TNA's control", Scott Hall would not be appearing at Against All Odds, nor would he take part in the tag team match tonight. Kevin Nash will reveal Scott Hall's replacement for both later tonight D+

  • Kip Gunn made his way out to the ring and wanted to address a couple of "misconceptions" around his loyalties. He explained that he always picks the winning side, that was why he joined D-Generation X back in 1998 and why he joined the Kings of Wrestling now. He addressed BG James' comments last week and said as far as he is concerned they are still brothers and always will be, telling James that he has no beef with him and gives him his word that he won't lay a finger on him because of it. Ron Killings interrupted Gunn, saying everything he just said sounded real nice but all he cares about is what happened last week when Gunn stuck his nose in his match last week and for that he wants Gunn's ass next week! Gunn told Killings that he tried to replace him five years ago and has been trying to do so ever since and accepted the challenge C-

  • Shane Douglas introduced Dustin Rhodes and asked him about what happened last week with Abyss. Dustin said he had never seen rage like he did with Abyss and said he has no idea why Abyss has targetted him but he isn't going to back down from a fight, claiming fighting a true monster like Abyss might be the biggest, most dangerous and possibly the last fight of his career but he's going to give it his all and wants Abyss at Against All Odds, but not in just any match, he wants him in Abyss' playground, he wants a Monster's Ball match! C-

  • Elix Skipper defeated The Amazing Red (6:35) via pinfall after a top rope hurricanrana D+

  • He did exactly what he said he was going to do last week, Elix Skipper showed everyone what he is made of. However he wasn't content to just show everyone as he wanted to tell everyone as well. This however brought out Chris Sabin, who told Skipper that nobody wanted to hear him "go on and on", praising him for the risks he took at Turning Point while also pointing out the fact that his team lost the match. Skipper accused Sabin of trying to "get the rub" from being in the ring with him, so Sabin laughed it off and challenged Skipper to face him at Against All Odds, suggesting that maybe the powers that be might decide the winner of the match deserves an X Division title match D

  • Christopher Daniels defeated Shark Boy (4:19) via pinfall after the Angel's Wings. Daniels grinned on his way down to the ring as replays were shown of him laying out AJ Styles last week [C-/B]

  • With Erik Watts scheduled to face Diamond Dallas Page later tonight, Raven was building him up, reminding him what DDP did to him and how much it cost him. Watts was listening but then turned to Raven and brought up DDP's words about "owning his own problems", but Raven turned that around by telling Watts that the offenders, the abusers are the ones who say that. Raven told Watts to take his revenge tonight and it will end his suffering C

  • Jeff Hardy was in the office of Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes and the two were deep in discussion when Petey Williams and Scott D'Amore stormed in to complain about Petey's match last week and demanded a rematch. Jeff got in Petey's face about interrupted him and the two bickered for a minute before Dusty stepped in between them and told Petey that he knows full well that AJ won the match fair and square before recognising that neither man has a match at Against All Odds, therefore he announced it would be Jeff Hardy vs. Petey Williams, saying to Jeff that he hasn't forgotten what they talked about before telling them both to impress because they'll need to crown a new number one contender for the X Division title soon C

  • Diamond Dallas Page defeated Erik Watts (6:05) via pinfall after a Diamond Cutter D+

  • Raven was furious and immediately hit the ring and attacked the victorious Diamond Dallas Page, beating him down before kicking him out of the ring. He then helped the defeated Erik Watts to his feet before kicking him in the gut and delivering a vile Evenflow DDT! Raven posed over the body of Watts before getting in his face and telling him that he "disappointed" him D+

  • It was time for the main event and time to reveal who Kevin Nash's mystery partner would be. Nash walked out alone before turning back, pointed to the stage and introduced Sean Waltman, Syxx-Pac! D

  • Kevin Nash and Syxx-Pac defeated Konnan and Ron Killings (5:50) via pinfall after Kip Gunn attacked Ron Killings with a lead pipe, allowing Syxx to deliver the Syxx-Factor C

  • There was a commotion in the backstage area and when the cameras arrived they found Monty Brown laid out on the concrete floor with the shattered remnants of a guitar lying around his head and the NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarrett standing over him. Jarrett yelled to Brown that the title belongs to him and there was no way Brown would ever, ever get another shot at it C-

TNA Impact! - 11/02/2005

Soundstage 21, Universal Studios - Orlando, Florida: 1,400

Show Rating: C+

  • Monty Brown kicked off the show, not in the best of moods but also with no visual indicator of his guitar assault from Jeff Jarrett, however Mike Tenay and Don West filled in the fans who missed Impact last week. Brown paced the ring before saying he had changed his mind because last week he said he didn't care about the eight-man tag at Against All Odds because now he's looking forward to it because he wants to get his hands on Jarrett "anyway, anyhow" before telling Jarrett to watch out because he was coming for him tonight as Brown tossed the microphone aside and stormed to the back C

  • Lance Hoyt defeated Eric Young, Kazarian and James Storm (5:55) via pinfall after a Texas Tower Bomb to Kazarian following a distraction outside the ring. Each man's respective partner was at ringside but it was Traci Brooks "distraction flirting" with Eric Young that caught Kazarian off guard as he stopped to "watch the show", only for Lance Hoyt to come out of nowhere and take him down for the win D

  • In the office of the Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes was his son Dustin, and DoA was trying to convince Dustin to reconsider his challenge to Abyss for the Monster's Ball match, telling him that he wasn't here in November at Victory Road where the first one took place. Dusty said it was one of the most brutal matches he's ever seen and implored him to reconsider. Dustin asked if he would make this request to anyone else and before he could answer told that of course he wouldn't. Dustin told his father that he knows what he is doing, he's been crazy before and he'll get crazy again this Sunday before telling his father to book the match, to which Dusty replied that he would before wishing him luck tonight C

  • The Kings of Wrestling were taking things pretty easy when Shane Douglas knocked on the door and entered. Douglas wanted to get some words from Jarrett regarding what "The Alpha Male" had said earlier tonight, but they were seemingly none the wiser so Douglas explained which got Jarrett's back up as he demanded to know what security were doing about it. Douglas replied that that wasn't any of his business and suggested that maybe he should watch out before leaving them to it. Jarrett stuck his head out of the locker room and yelled for security C

  • AJ Styles defeated Lex Lovett (3:59) via pinfall after the Styles Clash C-

  • AJ Styles then requested the microphone and told Christopher Daniels that what he did to him two weeks ago makes no difference to what will happen this Sunday at Against All Odds because he will become the four-time TNA X Division champion. As Styles was talking, the reigning champion ran in through the crowd and attacked him from behind! Daniels had the element of surprise in his favour and after knocking Styles down went for the X Division title again, only this time Styles was able to avoid the blow, hit a Pele kick and picked up the title himself as Daniels rolled out of the ring. Daniels was fuming and demanded his belt back, a request AJ Styles was happy to oblige as he tossed it over to him before clearly telling Daniels to "keep it warm for me" D

  • Jeff Hardy defeated Johnny Devine (3:37) via pinfall after a Swanton Bomb. Scott D'Amore and Petey Williams accompanied Devine to ringside and Williams joined commentary and told Mike Tenay and Don West that Jeff was ground breaking "four years ago" and said that he has surpased anything that Jeff has ever done already C-

  • In the back, Jeff Jarrett had finally found security and were giving them very clear instructions not to let anyone down the corridor leading to the Kings of Wrestling's locker room. Back in the actual locker room, Kip Gunn was getting ready for his big main event against Ron Killings as Kevin Nash and Syxx-Pac grilled him about his relationship to BG James. Gunn said he has no problem kicking Monty Brown, Konnan or Killing's ass but BG was right last week, they are brothers so he won't lay a finger on him but business is business and he won't stand in their way this Sunday C-

  • Diamond Dallas Page and Dustin Rhodes vs. Raven and Abyss ended in a double count-out (6:37) when all four brawled outside the ring and into the crowd C

  • The sound of the bell didn't signify an end to hostilities as Raven and Diamond Dallas Page continued their brawl into the crowd while Abyss and Dustin Rhodes continued going around the ringside area and towards the back. The cameras were able to follow them backstage where Rhodes was able to grab a hold of a steel chair and wrap it around the skull of Abyss before tossing him into a small room and then proceeded to knock over a drinks machine and place it in front of the door, locking Abyss in! Rhodes yelled to Abyss that an extra 24-hours locked away wouldn't do him any harm! C

  • Kip Gunn, Kevin Nash and Syxx-Pac left the Kings of Wrestling locker room and headed to the ring. However they didn't seem to notice that the two security guards and Jeff Jarrett had ordered to watch the door were laid out in a heap either side of it! D+

  • Kip Gunn defeated Ron Killings (7:05) via pinfall after a Fameasser following a low blow. BG James got involved in the match when Kip Gunn brought out a lead pipe and pleaded with his "brother" and former partner not to use it. James seemed to get through to him but then left himself susceptible to an attack by Kevin Nash, prompting a big brawl between the 3 Live Kru and the Kings of Wrestling and in the confusion Gunn was able to take advantage C+

  • Jeff Jarrett grabbed his NWA World Heavyweight title and was about ready to head to the ring when he stepped out of the locker room and saw the security guards laid out. He then looked around and spotted the man who wants his title about five metres away with a terrifying smile on his face. Jarrett turned and ran towards the parking lot as Monty Brown gave chase and Impact went off the air C+
