The Wrestling Collector on YouTube has put together a great 2hr video of the Bruno-Larry feud if any reader of this excellent diary is interested in seeing how it played out irl.

And you forgot Samoans for diversity, though that turned into more of a VKM thing. It does look like you're getting good recommendations from your workers, unlike most of the time I've ever gotten them. And JYD was close to his physical peak at this point, but workrate and JYD never really went together. A face Hogan and JYD could be the Charismatic Duo.

It more my preference calling him that especially when I also talk about Jay Strongbow. I was wondering if anyone was going to comment about Miguel Perez being injured by Invader I. I thought the same thing to be honest.

Wahoo was on downside of his career when I was exposed to him as well, but he was one of my favorites growing up.

Don Muraco was on my roster for whole of two shows I fired him after he got into a fight with Angelo Savoldi. That the reason you haven't seen him pop up yet. He was going to be managed by Albano, but now I have to wait six months to rehire him.

Smartman: I already have Afa and Sika I am good on Samoans. Jimmy Snuka is working in JCP and Toronto putting on good to great matches. I am just trying to hire every one in the first three months in the game. He right now in Toronto feuding with Tiger Jeet Singh. Which are not as horrible rated matches as I would expect considering Singh refusal to sell for anyone.

While teaming them together come find out Bobby Eaton and Tom Prichard have great chemistry working as a team. So what name should I use for them? An who should manage them? Choices on the managers are Bobby The Brain Heenan, Classy Freddie Blassie, The Grand Wizard, and Captain Lou Albano. Midnight Express will not be used as name for them. Tom Prichard at this time is skinny as Piper.

I really need someone to invent a sarcasm font. That was a joke, Al as VKM has constantly hired every Samoan ever.

It is kind of a shame it is a Northeast company because if it was a Southern fed, I'd say rename Tom to Bobby Tom Pritchard and call them The Beautiful Bobbys managed, of course, by Bobby Heenan. But that would fly over too many "Yankee" fans who aren't used to three-named people that are all over the south. Best I can come up with is pair them with Blassie and call them The Beautiful Ones and just copy The Fabulous Ones from Memphis. Then, the faces could insult them by calling them The Southern Belles.

Barry Windham vs Terry Taylor

This was a decent match, and both these guys are young and hungry. Windham and Taylor both told a simple story of two young guys trying to make it in this business.Barry Windham defeated Terry Taylor in 10:24 by pinfall with a Superplex. Grade: C-

Johnny Rodz vs Curt Hennig

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd. Curt was another young guy who is trying to make it on the biggest stage in the world Madison Square Garden. Johnny Rodz gave it his all and looked like he was clearly going to win this one.Curt Hennig defeated Johnny Rodz in 11:49 by pinfall with a Hennig Plex. When I set this match up Rodz was going to be the one to go over, but Curt has been proving himself of late. So when Johnny didn't complain putting Curt over I gave my blessing. It was a better match then expected from these guys as well. Grade:B-

Bobby Burke & Leo Burke vs Bobby Duncum and Tor Kamata

This was superb match, which from the very beginning was a battle. Bobby Duncum is a great talent and he shined in this match. Many people may not know who the Burke brothers are, but after tonight they showed they could hang with one of the best workers we have on the roster. Bobby Burke & Leo Burke defeated Bobby Duncum and Tor Kamata in 14:42 when Leo Burke defeated Bobby Duncum by submission with a Sleeper Hold. Grade:B

WWF World Tag Team Titles Match:

Tito Santana & Ivan Putski vs The Wold Samoans ©w/ Lou Albano

This one was of our big matches and Samoans battled hard trying to keep the belts. Afa and Sika dominated early on as they kept Tito away from his corner. They mercilessly pounded on Santana through out the match. Captain Lou Albano caused some mayhem as he walked over and started berating Ivan Putski on the floor. Even going so far as calling Putski a midget. Putski didn't take to kindly to be called a midget and got into Albano's face. Who taunted him some more, and this when Putski began paintbrushing him with slaps. Meanwhile Tito made it to his corner finally only to find no Putski and when he went to yell at his partner. Afa grabbed him and hit a samoan drop to get the pinfall in 17:35. Grade:B

Andre the Giant vs Bulldog Brower w/ Captain Lou Albano

It was Bulldog many thought who was going to be facing off against Orndorff on Challenge. Which may of been a good idea considering how he handled himself against Andre here tonight. Brower starts the match biting the forehead of Andre's like a cannibal who had been starving for weeks on end. Dominating Andre from the scraping at Andre's eyes and making faces that would make anyone think he was mad as a hatter. Andre soon was able to fight back and take control at least momentarily. Andre swung Brower into the corner and charged forward only for Brower to move at the last second. Andre fell to the ground and Brower hit the ropes and dropped a punishing Bionic Elbow across Andre's chest and covers him for the pin.

1...

2...

and

Brower goes flying off Andre like a missle and hits face first in the mat. Brower escapes the ring and begins screaming for Backlund. Gorilla tells him he needs to worry about Andre, not Backlund. Captain tries to calm Brower down as Andre yells at him inside the ring to comeback in. That's when Hulk Hogan sneaks in and attacks Andre from behind. Andre the Giant wins by DQ in 10:04. Grade: B+

Match is over but the assault on Andre continues as Hulk Hogan keeps attacking Andre who is able to fend off Hogan finally only to get hammered by Brower with a wooden chair. Hogan starts helping Brower beating a fallen Andre only to have the crazed Brower to start swinging a chair at him. Hulk Hogan quickly escapes as Brower looks down at Andre with the crazed look of a madman. Grade:B+

Pat Patterson vs Captain Lou Albano

This match took awhile to start as the good Captain refused to get in the ring to start the match. Screaming he was a manager and not a wrestler. Captain Lou Albano was still grandstanding on the outside when fans started yelling as someone came walking down the aisle. It was non other than a very angry Giant who head was heavily bandanged. Captain Lou Albano face turnedpale and he knew he had two choices face angry Pat Patterson or face angry Andre the Giant. Albano scrambled into the ring only to be met with Patterson delivery heavy blows to him. Andre came over to the announcing desk and said he talked to WWF President Hawkes on Superstars he will be getting his revenge on Bulldog Brower.

Albano backed into a corner and begged for mercy, but Patterson shook his head no and came approaching the pleading Captain only for the Captain to give him a shot in the family jewels. Albano got up and started kicking the down Patterson. Screaming this is what you get for all your insults and not wanting to be managed by me you ingrate. Patterson was able to fight back and that's when Albano decided to head outside of the ring. He forgot something though, Andre was waiting for him on the outside. Patterson distracted the referee while Andre slammed Albano's head into the ring post. Andre picked up Albano and threw him back into the ring. The shot must busted Albano open as he was bleeding severely. Patterson began laying shots into his forehead as blood flowed down Albano's face and chest. Patterson walked away and raised his hands in victory. As Albano fell face first into the mat. Patterson rolled him over and put foot on him for the pinfall. Grade: B

Dominic DeNucci vs Hulk Hogan w/ Bobby Heenan

Denucci came firing ON all cylinders in this match as he took it to Hogan. Fans were excited as there long time hero looked like he was going to beat the Incredible Hulk and was paying him back for the shots with that cane just last month. Dominic was on a roll until the hand of fate intervened, or more correctly Bobby Heenan's hand as he tripped up DeNucci. This gave the Incredible Hulk his first chance to take control of the match and he dominted Hulk Hogan defeated Dominic DeNucci in 13:52 by pinfall with an Axe Bomber. Grade:C

WWF Heavyweight Title Match:

Texas Death Match:

Ken Patera w/ The Grand Wizard vs Bob Backlund ©

Vince McMahon explained the rules. This was a no disqualification match where there was only two way win pinfall or referee stoppage. Which Gorilla jumped in and said stoppage is highly unlikely considering the blood bath that was the previous match. Bob Backlund took control of the match early controlling the arm to begin the match. Patera was able to escape after a eye rake. He hit a bone cracking backbreaker on Backlund. He went for the pin and only got a one count. McMahon and Monsoon agree that Patera should know better, it's going to take lot more to defeat Bob Backlund. Patera and Backlund began brawling by the ropes and they both fall out of the ring. The referee begins starting to call both men out. Moonsoon says this referee needs a rule book because this match can't end in a count out.

Patera throws Backlund into the ring and just slams Backlund's head into the turnbuckle. Patera uses the top rope and begins choking Backlund. The referee begins counting for Patera to release the hold. McMahon says doesn't the referee understand their is no rules in this match? Backlund is able to get free after several elbow shots to Patera's ribs. Backlund locks in abdominal stretch that after few minutes Patera powers out of it.

Patera and Backlund keep tearing into each other. Patera throws Backlund on the outside and we have Patera unloading on Backlund with vicious kicks.

The finish of this match comes as both men are battling each other on the outside. The referee is on the outside trying to get them back into the ring.Backlund and Patera toss the referee on to the concrete floor as he tries to break these two men apart. The referee calls for the bell and tells Howard Finkel the match ends in a draw as he lost control of the match at 23:35. Grade:B+

What a miscarriage of justice, that referee should be fired on the spot! You don’t get involved in a Texas Death Match while the match is on the outside. Of course this is the WWF where we do need a screwy finish in the 2nd match of a 3 Match series to get those gullible New York fans to come for the 3rd and final match.

So the cage match that is coming up, is this the blue WWF cage where the goal is to escape, or the “NWA style” cage (for lack of a better name) where you actually have to pin or submit someone to win a title?

I always hated that particular finish, especially for a Face Champion.

Breaking News from The Wrestling Observer

Ivan Putski has been released from his contract by the World Wrestling Federation after his third incident this month. He already has been involved in two fights one with Ken Patera and the other with Jim Duggan. He has had four incidents so far since the beginning of the year. This second time that he went out of his way to put down a enhancement worker named Gene Spurlock. Officials backstage say Ivan Putski was set to turn at WWF Superstars of Wrestling taping on partner Tito Santana. Culminating in a big push for both men and possible series of matches with the WWF Heavyweight Champion Bob Backlund down the line, if Backlund was able to retain the title at the Madison Square Garden show in March.

It said Ivan Putski can't believe he was fired for the incident and even the victim Gene Spurlock stated he thought the firing was to harsh of a decision.

Yes! Now Tito is free to be pushed to the moon and become the new ethnic face of WWF after you're done pushing Backlund. He's good for a few years of selling out MSG like Bruno did. (Heavy sarcasm, but please push Tito as he was one of my favorite guys in the 80's WWF)

Paul Orndorff vs Bobby Duncum

Before you can be Wonderful, you need to win the opening match at MSG

Dick Brower vs Pat Patterson

Both these guys should be winding down their in ring careers. Could go either way but likely see Pat get his hand raised

Gorilla Monsoon vs The King Jerry Lawler

Wow huge size mismatch but when does that ever stop the King. If Gorilla wins it’s by DQ after a fireball, but I’ll go with the King as Howdy Doody needs more challengers

WWF World Tag Team Titles Match:

The Gibsons vs The Wild Samoans ©

I’m not sure it’s pictures they have on Senior or just a lack of quality face tag teams magnified by the loss of former team Santana and Putski

WWF Television Title Match:

Chavo Guerrero vs Sgt. Slaughter ©

Sarge would be a good foil for Backlund as well as I’m not sure the TV belt is doing him much good. Could Chavo Senior pulled the upset? Naw

Andre the Giant vs Hulk Hogan

Andre gets the win either by pin (and then a brutal and vicious after match beat down) or DQ. Either way Andre is left bloodied in the ring after the match

WWF Intercontinental Title Match:

Larry Zbyszko© vs Bruno

As someone else said the belt means nothing for Bruno. I expect a fairly long match and The New Living Legend takes a walk in frustration for the countout. After the match on an upcoming TV Larry will launch into the biased and incompetent officiating forcing him to leave the farce of a match

WWF Heavyweight Title Match:

Steel Cage Match:

Ken Patera vs Bob Backlund ©

Backlund takes the cowards way out and escapes the cage. Afterward Sarge comes out and bashes the champion calling him a gutless maggot and a puke.

It is unfortunate that the heel turn by Putski wasn’t able to be done. But with all those incidents he was obviously more trouble than his declining skills were worth.
