The Italian Stallions vs The Fashionistas (Gianfranco Morelli & Roberto Milano)

  • The Italian crowd loved seeing two Italian teams in action and quickly came alive, making for a strong start to the show.
  • The Fashionistas kept Ricci on the mat through their technical skills, all the while posing and taunting as they kept UEW's underdog in submission holds.
  • Once Giancarlo Giabroni got the hot tag, he cleared house and turned things around for his team.
  • Ricci went high risk and dropped a Milanese Elbow on Roberto Milano, before scoring the pin for his team.

Result: The Italian Stallions win via pinfall

Grade: D-

Merle O'Curle vs Gavin Owen

  • A last minute addition to the announced match card, this one saw two technicians square off in the ring, much to the delight of UEW's oldschool fans.
  • Though both men rely on solid technical skills, Owen's judo throws and takedowns didn't mesh well with O'Curle's mat based submission wrestling and this made for a somewhat awkward bout.
  • Young Lion Gavin Owen had some good moments, but once O'Curle got him to the mat it was just a matter of time before he'd find himself in the Celtic Wreath.

Result: Merle O'Curle wins via submission

Grade: D-

#1 contender for the UEW Tag titles match

The Shooters vs The Welsh Dragons (Punisher Paul Hughes & Red Dragon)

  • The reunited Welsh Dragons were off to a strong start, combining Hughes' brawling with Red Dragon's japanese junior style to a devastating effect.
  • The Shooters couldn't come up with answers at first, as they hadn't been able to scout their opponents in advance.
  • Things changed though when Don Henderson managed to ground Red Dragon and isolate him from tagging in Hughes.
  • The Shooters got to work on Red Dragon and finally, Henderson forced him to tap out to the Scottish Deathlock.

Result: The Shooters win via submission

Grade: D

Menace vs Stig Svensson

  • Still a heavyweight, Svensson was no pushover and gave plenty of trouble to Menace, who's used to manhandling his opponents around.
  • Thanks to his vast knowledge of technical wrestling, Svensson was able to take Menace to the mat and eliminate his size and power advantage as he worked the legs to take away the base.
  • Menace powered out more than once, but this took a lot out of him every time.
  • The beating also took a toll on Svensson's aging body and as time went on, it was clear he was running out of gas.
  • Sensing an opportunity, Menace pounced on his challenger with renewed vigor and sought to end things with an Ultimate Rejection.

Result: Menace retains via pinfall

Grade: D-

Show grade: D

Match card for UEW Bring the Pain

UEW World title match: Menace © vs Punisher Paul Hughes

UEW Tag team titles match: The German Machine © vs The Shooters

Kalu Owusu vs Thor the Mighty

Aleksander Knyazev vs Andriy Boronin

Highlights from the press conference to promote the show

eAP3R7j.jpgNNIIGh4.jpg

Knyazev vs Boronin has been promoted as an "Eastern Block War" and it should make for an interesting bout that could go either way. After a title loss to Kalu Owusu and a hard fought victory over Stig Svensson, Aleksander Knyazev said he looks to get back on track and earn himself another title shot. Andriy Boronin on the other hand praised his opponent, but said he intends to beat him and climb the rankings, perhaps for an eventual shot at the UEW Nations title.

WkiiMof.jpge9YUYUp.jpgHKKqYxL.jpg

After his title rematch request was denied, Kalu Owusu was instead scheduled in a match against the champion's tag partner (and apparent gatekeeper) Thor the Mighty. Former UEW World champion said he'll win this to get his rematch and the title back, but Fink Finkleton promised him this will be nothing like his last match against rookie Clubber Kohl.

Punisher Paul Hughes has been heavily criticized for using the departure of Red Dragon as emotional leverage to get himself a title shot. During his interview he shot down those rumors, but not before dedicating his main event title fight to his former tag team partner.

<p>Surprised Thor went over Kalu Owusu, but I suppose if he's in time decline it makes sense for him to be moving down the card. Just kind of surprised it's Thor that's getting the push.</p><p> </p><p>

Former UEW World champion Kalu Owusu seems to be on the decline, both physically and in terms of career after failing to get himself a title rematch, but he's always dangerous and settling for the UEW Nations title looks like an "acceptable" downgrade that'll still keep him in the game. On a similar note, Punisher Paul Hughes hasn't exactly been on a roll lately, but capturing the UEW Nations title is a sure way to raise his stock, thus he is expected to work extra hard to get there. Last but not least, the youngest and hungriest of the three, Andriy Boronin is certainly on the rise but whether he's ready for the next step yet remains to be seen when the trio meets in the ring this September.</p>

UEW Tag team titles match: The Shooters © vs The German Machine

#1 contender match for the UEW Nations title: Kalu Owusu vs Punisher Paul Hughes vs Andriy Boronin - Decided to italicise Boronin as I think he takes the pin.

Garion LaChance vs Gordon Leve

Mighty Menace vs The Italian Stallions

UEW Tag team titles match: The Shooters © vs The German Machine

The Shooters just won the titles, so I doubt they're going to lose them right back.

#1 contender match for the UEW Nations title: Kalu Owusu vs Punisher Paul Hughes vs Andriy Boronin

Like Stig before him, Owusu will be winning a #1 contendership match in order to then put over the champion.

Garion LaChance vs Gordon Leve

LaChance doesn't have much going for him to be honest.

Mighty Menace vs The Italian Stallions

I'm going to gamble on underdog victory. Marcello Ricci is one of your best young guys, and Giancarlo Giabroni seems to actually be pretty decent as well. While Ricci might not be considered a title contender normally, he has singles wins over Menace; another win here would further his claims for a title shot.

added quite a lot to the match thanks to the chemistry these two seem to have.<br /></li><li>On the other side of the ring, Henderson's return to singles competition was marked by a move away from his clean cut youngster image and towards a more classic old school babyface gimmick that fans seem to really warm up towards.<br /></li><li>The match was a slow paced bout that kept on building towards a big finish, its main theme being whether Menace would be able to quickly take out his opponent or overpower him as the match went on or would Henderson manage to wear down the champion with his technical skills before taking him to the mat and shooting for a submission.<br /></li><li>The two men were obviously given creative freedom and used it to call the match in the ring, brilliantly adapting to the fans' reaction and the overall feel of every moment. They also put up equally good performances and had a fair share of offense in, making for a 50-50 match that really felt like it could go either way for over twenty minutes.<br /></li><li>In the finish of the match, an exhausted and unfocused Menace nearly fell victim to the Scottish Deathlock, however Fink Finkleton at ringside was being a good coach and shouted the right orders to help him snap out of it and reverse into an Ultimate Rejection for the pin that kept the title on himself.</li></ul><p></p></div></blockquote><p> <strong>Result: Menace retains via pinfall</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="HKKqYxL.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HKKqYxL.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="DTAxGxv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DTAxGxv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44600" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Once the bell rang, Fink Finkleton slid into the ring to celebrate the champion's victory, before grabbing a microphone for a quick promo to send the fans home. Things didn't work out as planned, with the Italian fans apparently not that well versed with the English language which led to them not paying any attention to the words. What did get across though was the body language of Menace, who was true to his monicker as he stood tall, looking ready to crush any and all comers for his title.</div></blockquote><p> <strong>Grade: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Show grade: </strong><strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D+</span></strong></p>

In a fit of overconfidence (or delusions of grandeur, according to others) however, the team's manager Fink Finkleton declared their group's intentions to "dominate UEW" by not only winning this match, but also capturing the UEW Tag Team titles before Thor the Mighty also wins the UEW Nations title, bringing all the gold to the trio.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="t7h1jMc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/t7h1jMc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p>Irwin Gutrmann was in no mood for talking -as usual- but his challenger Don Henderson had a lot to say regarding his UEW World title loss to Menace. After shooting down comments about "compromising for an inferior title", the Scotland native praised both the title and the in-ring work of champions like Gutmann and Mäkinen who have elevated the gold with their performances. A former two time UEW Nations champion himself, Henderson said he looks for one more run and promised a great main event for UEW No Remorse.</p>
