What's going on in YOUR game?

Recommended Posts

<p>I have started using December Week 4 as my biggest show of the year (within my own planning), and I was about to book the main event I had been building towards - Lars-Gunnar Ekberg vs Carter Potter (Nuclear heat). Ekberg is the biggest star in the world, and 17-0. Easily High Level International Main Event.</p><p> </p><p>

Ekberg gets hit with a scandal, and is toxic for 1 year and 4 months. I considered keeping him and riding it out but I have a back-up so fired him.</p><p> </p><p>

Fine, I'll run Katou (26-2) vs Van Der Moot (20-0) for the LHW belt, also a High Level International fight.</p><p> </p><p>

Next day, Van Der Moot announces his hiatus.</p><p> </p><p>

Argh.</p>

Hilariously, submissions aren't really his thing. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

His path to the title was going to be Fezzik -> Foster -> Champion but Foster got popped for drugs so I decided to clear the backlog of people challenging Ekberg. He'd been seeing off a bunch of mid-ranked to bargain basement guys that had called him out. He only had two left to destroy before going for the belt. He'll probably return to a title fight, it was only a sex-tape scandal... although must have been pretty bad for him to be toxic for 16 months.</p>

<p>Can I say I love the "Populate Fighters" feature? That is amazing.</p><p> </p><p>

I've just started my first game, playing a European promotion by the name of Grenadier, and I was intending to set them up as the place that covers the areas SIGMA doesn't - Featherweight and below. I didn't realise that the vanilla database doesn't have any appropriate fighters for Bantamweight and Flyweight but with Populate, bam, full roster!</p>

<p>I used one of the mods that started at the beginning in 1993. I used the OMEGA logo for my OMEGA promotion and relocated it to a US base. And I turned off some of the hiring rules so I could grab who I wanted. I owned WMMA I and II but didn't get III or IV so I'm still learning. My promotion is doing pretty well. I typically run 2 cards per month. A numbered show and then a smaller show in different regions. I just ran my biggest show so far which I am including a photo of below:</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="ydkqOc5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ydkqOc5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I was very pleased with how this turned out overall. That Poor fight made me mad but sometimes it happens. I had just signed Olsen about 6 months prior and he promptly crapped the bed in his first match and then I tried him again hoping he would bounce back and got beat by Rekdal. </p><p> </p><p>

It was interesting watching Fezzik over his past few fights. In his first half dozen or so fights he just wrecked everyone. But his past 3 fights prior to this he had a little more difficulty. He had beaten Archer once before at Omega 13 in February 1994. Archer then went on to slowly churn his way back up the rankings. I don't like repeat fights that much so I kept feeding anyone and everyone else to Fezzik until he had basically wiped everyone of note out. James Foster has been friggin gone for 3 years training for the Olympics and I gave several others a shot at Fezzik over the years but he's always come out on top until this go round. </p><p> </p><p>

Having my biggest fight in a long time on a huge card come out with a Fantastic rating made me pop for sure. And the other title fight was very, very good as well. </p><p> </p><p>

Great effort in making WMMA 5 to all that was involved. This is very immersive and I'm having a blast with my promotion.</p>

I'm playing the Undertaker666 93 game with some personal additions (mostly from mods of WWMA3/4 that I have some memories) and some imported fighters (mostly of London 5packs).

I'm playing an Oligopoly game with 3 companies (GAMMA in USA Mex, and Canada, ALPHA1 in Japan, Asia and Australia and SIGMA in Europe, British and Russia). S America is "free". The home rule is you cant sign any fighter from other area nor having any media there.

in Jan 95 my champions are

ALPHA 1: SHW- Saladin, HW- Ikuhisa Tamura LHW- Tadamasa Yamada MW- Magobei Miyamoto (Game Generated) WW-Bakin Sakamoto LW-Go Yamamoto FW-Masahiro Maeno

GAMMA: SHW- Brent Kulowski HW- James Foster LHW- Raul Hughes MW- Patrick Thomas WW-Dan Halvorsen LW-Sean Morrison

SIGMA SHW- Sa Barlow, HW- Hassan Fezzik LHW- Mantas Andreyev MW- Jaromir Grygrera WW-Julio Regueiro LW-Doug Hansen FW-Lars Bohlin

The 3 are HL Regional, and are making some little profits, and it's fun to see grow (or not) the fighters.

Scout them. Book them to their strengths. Keep booking them against weak opponents even when their skills and ranking tell you otherwise. Hold off on pulling the trigger with them.

I find this way of booking the most exciting.

Yep, so do I. But in this edition, a can isn't always a can. What I mean is, I've had a TON of -1200/+850 upsets happen. Even when you plan it right, it can go wrong. For example, putting a kick boxer with heavy hands into a fight with a sprawl & brawl or lay and pray type with a glass jaw and having the striker/kick boxer resort to constant takedowns instead of just knocking the can out and then losing by decision. I jump on every random gen I see with low chin and/or low takedown or submission defense.

So is anyone else getting an assload of Torn Rotator Cuff injuries?

No, but it seems like a quarter of the women in the database love them some recreational drugs. Okay, a quarter is exaggerating but it's nuts the rate at which people get popped. I've had rookies get popped on their first fight (hi Leona Cole!) and seasoned veterans (who you'd think would know better) get popped after a title fight where they won the belt (I'm lookin' at you Hanako Shimizu). You would think you could lay off the kush while training for the biggest fight of your career. With our zero tolerance policy, it's literally the only time I actually cut fighters.

As Nash "Crash" Harbane. I've completed year one of owning GAMMA. Winning the lottery can buy you a company!

Kel Ryan knocked George Pickering out in 0:18 in the main event of the final show of '02. The Super Heavyweight division is a slow developing one, with no real contenders at this time. John-James McInleen is 7-0 with two win in the year, but he's still calling out low tier fighters, so it looks like Kel Ryan will be on the bench for awhile.

After defeating Tony McCall in January and then James Foster for the Heavyweight title in April. Rav Kapur is set to make his first title defense against Hassan Fezzik who is making his debut in February of '03. Tim Boyer and Alexander Ivanov are slated to face each other on the same card to determine a #1 contender. James Foster is working his way back. He was scheduled to face newcomer Kunimichi Kikuchi, but an injury force KK out and Wilson Franklyn to step in and get unmercifully Ko'd.

Mike Watson had two first round knockouts(South, Rubenstein). He is set to take on Toby Sorkin in January. Sold, Rubenstein, John, Hughes, Ballard, Letoussier, Taneyev are all in the mix with additions of Villar, Kitson and Hyun-Shik Lim preparing to debut.

Matthew Dean has opened up Scream Crew and has been Matthew Dean. He TKO'd Buddy Garner. After suffering his third loss to Dean. Garner cut to the Welterweight division and defeated Josh Aldarisio. Dean went on to defeat Adam White by Rear Naked Choke in the final round of there lack luster evenly matched fight. Moura vs. Benn. Napier vs. Tariverdiev and White vs Reid will all be happening asap in '03. Moura vs. Benn being Dean's next Challenger. Ramon de Silva Ramos is looking like a star and Dwayne Allen continues to win as well.

Manuel Silva dispatched Regueiro in the first and then defended his title against Blood. Brubaker also TKO'd Regueiro and is in contention, but the #1 contender will come from a fight between Gallego and Arteta as both have compiled impressive victories.

Leemontov defeated Jake Keane and was sidelined for the rest of the year. Keane bounced back beating the Hillbilly Hammer and will next take on Helio in Brazil to determine the #1 contender. After losing to O'Breen. Morrison bounced back beating Stiles. He was set to face Basora, but an I jury forced him out as he waits for his next fight to try and rekindle his career. Benny Danare defeated Brandon Sugar and will most likely fight O'Breen next who needs to prove he isn't a fluke.

Phillip Ziskie is the debut FW champ winning a tournament filled with upsets. He waits for a Challenger as the division unfolds

Gus Waters and Willy Bassett were the finalists for the bantamweight season of Clash of the Titans. Waters defeated Bassett to become the inaugural champion. He will defend his title against the winner of Togo vs. Bando happening in Japan.

<p>Playing as GAMMA, but Lenny McFadden fought Niko Soldo for BCF's LHW title in my game. McFadden wins by TKO, but fails a drugs test for PEDs. What's more, Soldo ALSO failed a drugs test, for recreational drugs.</p><p> </p><p>

Have never seen a double drugs test failure before, amazing.</p>

In my 2015 game, Tito Ortiz goes on a 3-fight winning streak with Bellator, then announces his retirement. The exact same day he retires, I talk to him about it and he un-retires. Best thing about that, he was under an exclusive contract with Bellator for two more fights, but now, the UFC will bring him back :)
