What's going on in YOUR game?

I rebranded GAMMA into a promotion called Gladiator MMA and messed around with the weight classes. The women's divisions are 125/135/145 and the men's are in 10 pound increments as well until you get to Cruiserweight, which is 206-225 and Heavyweight is 226+ with no upper limit.

January, 2005

Heavyweight champion: Gyokusho Fujimoto

He took the title off of Rav Kapur and has made one successful defense against Kel Ryan. Scheduled to defend against Renato.

Former champs: Kapur, James Foster

Cruiserweight champion: Affonso Villar

He's been an absolute destroyer since he came over from ALPHA-1 in 2003. Villar TKO'd Nilton Fantoni at LHW, then starched Marlon John to take the Cruiserweight strap. He has since defended the belt twice against Lars-Gunnar Ekberg and Hassan Fezzik, both via KO (Fezzik in 20 seconds). It's already a thin division and we're running out of bodies to put in front of this guy.

Former champs: Marlon John

Light Heavyweight champion: Spencer Rubenstein

Wow. Mike Watson was on an incredible run as LHW champion after recovering from his 2nd loss to Spencer Rubenstein, touting a 5 fight win streak and 3 dominant title defenses. Meanwhile, Rubenstein was putting the pieces together in a thin Cruiserweight division after 3 consecutive losses at 205. I give him a title shot solely because he's the only credible challenger that hasn't been brutally stopped by Watson. Mike Watson took the first round and was seemingly controlling the 2nd before getting sent to the shadow realm by a knee from Rubenstein with 2 seconds left. Nuts.

Former champs: Mike Watson, Niko Soldo, Rubenstein (from the 2nd time he beat Mike Watson, lmao)

Super Middleweight champion: Osmosis Benn

This division is a mess, y'all. Matthew Dean fought Toby Sorkin for the inaugural SMW belt at Gladiator 50 and dominated for 4 rounds before getting his back taken and losing by rear naked choke in the 5th. Dean and Sorkin would go on to have the worst trilogy of all time, with Dean winning 2 unanimous decisions in the Fence Grappling Championships. Matthew Dean went on to defend against Petey Mack and Maarten De Vries before getting crushed by a right hand from Osmosis Benn in what was originally seen as a pointless trilogy. Benn defended against an overhyped and overmatched Michael Dali, who was riding high off of a stunning KO win over Niko Soldo at LHW. Benn and Dean will rematch in a few months because this division stinks.

Former champs: Matthew Dean, Toby Sorkin

Middleweight champion: Adam White

In Dean's absence, Braulio Moura took over as champion and reigned until White stopped him in the 2nd round. White has since defended his title 4 times, against Nathan Chambers, Neil Napier, Julio Regueiro (stepped up on short notice), and Bill Brown. Was due to get a shot at Matthew Dean in a double belt matchup but Osmosis Benn threw a big ole monkey wrench in those plans.

Former champs: Braulio Moura, Matthew Dean

Welterweight (175) champion: Julio Regueiro

Simply incredible. Regueiro has defended his title an unbelievable 7 times, stopping Buddy Garner twice and avenging his only loss against Bobby Brubaker in the process. Lost his last bout against Adam White, but he was outweighed by over 20 pounds and fought on 2 weeks notice. He looks unbeatable at 175 and has easily cleared out the division. As a result, he will participate in a 8-man tournament at 165 pounds featuring the best fighters from the 155/165/175 weight classes, the winner receiving the Super Lightweight title and a bonus of $5 million.

Super Lightweight (165) champion: Fiyero Lermontov

After dropping his lightweight title to Helio, Lermontov moved up to 165 pounds and took the title from undefeated champ Manuel Silva. Fiyero is slated to defend his belt against all comers in the Gladiator $5,000,000 tournament, first against former Lightweight champion Georges Nouri.

Former champions: Manuel Silva

Lightweight champion: Lamont Banner

This belt has been passed around like mad. Banner recently became the 6th LW champ in this era and there has been only 1 defense made in 3 years. Banner ran roughshod through the featherweight division and is probably our most popular fighter, so I'm hoping he can hang on to it for longer than 5 months. He's scheduled to fight Atep in the 165 tournament.

Former champs: Seth O'Breen, Georges Nouri, Helio, Fiyero Lermontov, Jake Keane

Featherweight champion: Yagi Jokichi

After being just another name in Lamont Banner's long list of KO victims, Jokichi won the interim title against Phillip Ziskie in Banner's absence and has since been promoted to full-time champion. He defended against Easton Frye and is scheduled to fight Fernando Peragon next.

Funny side note at 145, Lars Bohlin and Snorri Gunnarrson will fight for a 5th time after Snorri won a decision to tie up the series at 2-2. Since they're both far removed from the title picture I might just take them to 7.

Former champs: Lamont Banner, Philip Ziskie, Tomohiro Takeuchi, Lars Bohlin

Bantamweight champions: Li-Kong Ho, Markus Waller (interim)

I'm giving Li-Kong Ho one more month to come out of hiatus before I strip that bum of his title.

Women's Featherweight champion: Hope Lehane

Women's Bantamweight champion: Pamela O'Neill

The GOAT. Probably won't lose for a thousand years.

Women's Flyweight champion: Natalie Rogers

Started my game in January of 2003 running both the UFC and Pride. Now, it's February 2010 and I just finished UFC 100. Thought I'd share my title histories.

First, here is UFC 100!

<img alt="8W3S4i9h.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8W3S4i9h.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="UQsMg6Fh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UQsMg6Fh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Forrest Griffin continues to be the star of the UFC for the last couple years and will defend the title next against Rampage Jackson! GSP and Nick Diaz rivalry has been heated for two years and this won't help: after GSP outwrestles Diaz for four rounds, a head kick gave Diaz the opportunity he needed to win back the Welterweight Title. Diaz leads the series now 2-1, but I definitely can see them meeting again one day.

UFC Heavyweight Championship

<img alt="kn03Giah.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kn03Giah.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Fedor ran the heavyweight division for years including winning the Pride Heavyweight Grand Prix and the final Pride Openweight Grand Prix. That all came crashing down when Cro Cop landed one head kick to end the long reign and become champion. Those two will meet again this year, but Brock Lesnar is also in the mix for a title shot in 2010.

UFC Light Heavyweight Championship

<img alt="OEGzk8rh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OEGzk8rh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Maybe the most exciting division in the UFC the last 7 years, light heavyweight has seen multiple future Hall of Fame Fighters hold the crown. From Tito's and Couture's wrestling to Belfort's and Liddell's power to the changing of the guard to Rashad Evans and Forrest Griffin...the division is always ready to produce a finish. While Griffin is sitting on top now, Rampage Jackson is the #1 contender with young guns Tadamasa Yamada, Kyle Kingsbury, and Jon Jones all continue surging to the top.

UFC Middleweight Championship

<img alt="XT4G8Enh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XT4G8Enh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

From the rise and fall of Rich Franklin to the Brazil era, the Middleweight division is another one full of fireworks. Two-Time Champion Anderson Silva has finished five opponents with the title on the line, but has lost the title twice by close decision. With Silva likely heading to 205, undefeated Indonesian Bambang Sriyanto sits at the top, but Matthew Dean and Jacare Souza are both in the mix for the next title shot.

UFC Welterweight Championship

<img alt="CJ0ikACh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CJ0ikACh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The title was passed around some in the early years following the defeat of Matt Hughes, but it found two consistent homes later on in Stockton and Quebec with Nick Diaz and Georges St-Pierre. Nick Diaz shocked GSP with a quick guillotine in their first fight before GSP was able to outwrestle and outgrapple in their rematch leading to a close decision. The trilogy was completed at UFC 100 with GSP up 4-0, but falling to a shocking 5th round TKO by Diaz. Very good chance these two meet a few more times before their careers are over!

UFC Lightweight Championship

<img alt="QsepXPFh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/QsepXPFh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

For awhile, it looked like the division would be ran by BJ Penn and/or Takanori Gomi before the shocking upset that led to Shannon Gugerty becoming champion (what?). As Gomi declined, Penn won the title back only to be beaten by the fast raising Eddie Alvarez. TUF winner Donald Cerrone waits next though in what should be a Fight of the Year candidate for the 155 Title.

UFC Featherweight Championship

<img alt="PwaJYdWh.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PwaJYdWh.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The Featherweight division was launched by the UFC in 2007 on the backbone of three fighters: Marlon Sandro (Brazil), Maximo Blanco (Japan), and Urijah Faber (US). Shockingly, young upstart Thierry Quenneville won the Featherweight TUF submitting Faber. In the end, Urijah Faber had the last laugh as he won the title and is quickly becoming a big time draw in the UFC.

The UFC launched a Bantamweight division in 2009, but has yet to crown a champion due to some odd circumstances (injury to 135 TUF winner Damacio Page and hiatus for #1 ranked Brad Pickett). The rise of Miguel Torres, Dominick Cruz, and Akitoshi Tamura, the division has a lot of potential.

I'll likely be adding a women's division and flyweight division in the next 2-3 years. If anyone has any questions about the game or wants to know how a certain fighter is doing, I'll post more screenshots!

 • 2 weeks later...

I am still plodding on with my original Global-Verse save of Galaxy Fighting Championships. Had a lovely little money spinner on the 53rd event as James Foster was able to re-capture the Heavyweight crown against the only man to have defeated him, Hassan Fezzik. The rubber match will be a real earner for me which is always a plus.

Elsewhere a few fighters have earned my appreciation such as Kurt Stonge, who I would like to nickname the D'Arce Destroyer as he has tapped 5 people with that very hold. Venedikt Maruseva and Jozef Minkowski have steadily made their respective ways through the Light Heavyweight division and Ray Rushton has massively over-performed in the Lightweight division.

Lots of fun little stories developing in the game world.

Early in my real life mod, UFC got hit with an accounting scandal which cost them $14,000,000 fine and caused Dana White to resign from the company.

I thought it'd have more of an impact on the UFC but didn't do anything. Not even a released fighter.

Thought it was pretty cool, though!

Templeton Crumb decided to appeal his drug suspention. Months later, he thought it probably wouldn't matter much for his career and called it quits.

Mere weeks later the commission informs him the suspention is reduced to one month. How happy he was! :p

It was the first time I actually noticed a suspention being reduced or lifted. In previous games it always failed (and rightly so).

I had a 20 year + game going at one time where I had gone through hundreds of bidding wars and I have extremely aggressive AI hiring turned on and have never had that happen (but obviously with such a long running game I did hit a point where I was the largest company so I definitely wasn't always competing against larger companies for every bidding war). The usual scenario is

I adjust the bid to get the second message.

AI updates offer the next day.

I adjust the bid to get the second message.

AI updates offer the next day.

3-4 more times I eventually get to a point where the AI won't update their offer and I land the fighter.

Now what I haven't checked is whether or not after my last offer does the AI keep their offer on the table or are they withdrawing from the negotiation. In my current game I just kept two of my top fighters in a bidding war where I was mid level regional and the company I was competing with was mid level national.

You said in your game that your company was low level national. What level was UFC's size at the time because the size difference definitely plays a part? I'm assuming the situation is rare but am trying to get to the bottom of it because as I stated in my experience the second message has been a guarantee as long as there wasn't an updated offer from the AI.

The "Rival Updates Contract Bid" setting should be set to at least "receive" but most likely "important" (so it will stop multi-advance). I seem to recall that I had either accidentally changed this at one point or it's not set as important by default and I lost a few fighters because I didn't realize the AI had updated their bid.

Ooo I like Prideweight. I'm toying with going full junior/super weights and introducing many more. I'm on the default database so I don't want to go beyond its limits and end up with a load of 'new' fighters being generated by the game.

I imagine the work rankings just regard your Prideweight as Welterweight, Cruiserweight as Light Heavyweight and some of your Super Heavyweights as Heavyweight though?

Yes, if you switch to a bunch of weight classes, you have to really keep track of your own rankings especially in the beginning or you'll "lose fighters." By that I mean they won't leave the company, but they won't show up on your rankings anywhere so you sort of forget about them and they end up sitting out a year or entering a decline if they're old enough. That's the only downfall if you use this method with a big roster that I've found. Other than that, it's a great way to build new stars!

I just had Kelvin Gastelum say this and sign back up with UFC anyway.

My company is #2 in the world/low-level international and I blew UFC's offer out of the water and still couldn't land him.

That's strange. Are you sure the terms weren't altered a day before the signing? It's easy to miss.

Yeah I really try my best to keep on top of that by doing 'mop up' shows where I'm filling it with fighters who haven't fought in 6 months+

Out of interest, how do you determine who will be in your new weight classes? A gatekeeper for an old weight class? A star in the making or do you look closely at what their weight limitations are? I imagine a lot of fighters are made to not fight a pound over but their best weight is also usually bang on the limit too?

While playtesting my mod project, one of top Flyweight prospects in WCL (Women’s Combat League) Erica Esch got embroiled in a sex tape scandal. From the video footage it seems that Esch and an unnamed sparring partner from her all-female Esch Fight Gym decided to turn their grappling training session into the plot of an adult film <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />.

I decided to roll with the punches and still have her fight Kathleen Diaz at WCL 21: Liddell vs. Jardine in Los Angeles. Hey if Ms. Esch wants to moonlight as an adult film star in between fights, that’s none of my business <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />.

I look at their walking weight first and try to make it where nobody is cutting like 20lbs to make weight. If a fighter is struggling in a division, I'll move him/her up or down a weight class depending on their walking weight.

A bunch of the fighters in the C-Verse are undersized, so you can find a bunch of guys who can fight at 165 instead of 170/175 or 195 instead of 205.

I'll eventually give a full update on my game but here's a quick tibit.

Lamont Banner is the GOAT hands down! At one point he held the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight titles at the same time! He has multiple defenses with all 3 belts. I stripped him of the welterweight belt because defending all 3 caused a division being held up. His record is 37-0. The vast majority of his wins are knockouts with only a handful of decisions. Recently his fights have been all first round knockouts. Some only needed one or 2 strikes.

Has anybody had similar success with him or any other fighter? I look at the posts and see Banner has actually lost in some saves.
