Community Expansion: female module

DL V1.0 [latest download on page 2]

With a game this moddable it's no surprise members of the community combine their time and efforts to expand on the default universe supplied with the game to make it even more rich and lively even after the original characters have retired.

What is this?

This pack contains the work done for the female weight classes at the time the third installment of the game was active. It's been tweaked ever since, but nothing huge has changed. It gradually adds a strawweight division to the game. I've removed some content from the WMMA4 version as I think this game should do fine to organically adjust itself to the needs of the MMA world, which is better as we can't plan everything that will happen (thank god :p).

FEATURES:

412 new fighters spread over the 4 female weights who will debut from 2002 all the way to 2014.

162 female free pictures

34 narratives

10 relationships

6 achievements

1 team

It also contains some extra logos and banners for some companies made by the community. I also added a strawweight belt copied from the default WEFF belts and recolored them to gold (because who wants a silver belt, right? :p).

Where do I unpack it?

It's simple: I've copied the installer directory all the way to the "WMMA5" folder, so all you have to do is copy-paste it to the directory where you installed the game, which should be called "WMMA5". Normally it shouldn't overwrite anything. I've added a folder called "skins [extra]" that contains some WEFF-style replacements for some of the most common screens in the game and a WEFF-style background. If you want it just change the name of the folder to "skins" but that will overwrite some core files so be warned.

How do I install it?

You'll have to go to the default database editor as we are going to import this mod into your existing one that comes with the game.

Steps followed by [-] are optional. Please note that the order listed below is mandatory or the narratives will not work! Also note that one does not simply uninstall a database in WMMA5 so make a backup (like now!). But you can always download the game again to get the default database in its original form.

Quote

[*][-] Mass delete the free pictures that start with "f_"

The renders for the fighters are all supplied with the core game as free pictures, which is why it's only a 31mb file, so we need to delete those in the database under "free pictures" (don't delete the actual picture!) or they will spawn as copies of existing fighters. The only ones you can keep that are not used (yet) by this database are:

f_latino_0044/45/50

f_black_0025/30/31/32/39

f_indian_0001/04/05/06

f_white_0169

[*][-] Mass edit default women to "no regeneration"

Given the sheer amount of new female fighters I advise you to disable regeneration for them so the game world is not flooded with female workers, which will cause promotions to create female divisions. If you welcome this then just consider setting the "female development level" in the era settings for women to "birth" or simply ignore this step. You can also do this at the end of the next step so no women will regenerate.

The steps:

Characters > Search on gender:female > Mass Edit > Select all > Set Regeneration to: "no"

[*] import characters

Switch to the "default" database. Go to "characters" and pick "import" from "CVE_women". "Select all" and "Import". You'll encounter some messages but that's perfectly fine. This is actually all you need to get the characters so you can stop right here if you don't care about the added stories and immersion.

[*] import relationships

Do the same thing for "relationships".

[*] import team Tapout

Do the same thing for "teams". Only one team??? Yes, but like WMMA4 the game automatically creates these on the fly which is much more awesome. "Tapout" is relevant to the narratives so you will want that if you want those. For extra immersion, add a BW male and female class to the company TAPOUT.

[*] import narratives

Same thing. Import all of them. They will only trigger on the first day of the month (when the new fighters debut) so please pay attention to the news on monday wk1.

[*][-] import achievements

Just import all.

[*][-] import companies

I've adjusted two default companies (Q-Cage and LOMMA) to debut and accommodate the new SW fighters. If you welcome this you can mark these two in the default database for... DELETION! and import the modded versions from CVE_women.

[*][-] tweak era settings for strawweight

The SW class will slowly develop and there will be girls that can drop to 115. If you don't want the game to create new fighters to fill it up, make a specific era setting for SW and set "min females per class" at 10. SW's of a different region should quickly flock to the active promotion.

[*][-] tweak Vaughan/Chikamatsu retirement age

These two are iconic fighters and will most likely retire after their next fight if you don't "edit" their "destiny" value of "retirement age" to older (or much older if you want them to stick around for a -very- long time).

That's all there is to it! Don't import the "agers" folder. That was specific to WEFF-players in a former version of the mod. I'll release a graphics pack with the appropriate files later, but you can get them from the WMMA4 O+ mod easily.

<p>So nice to see all the familiar faces back <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I love reading back the bios. Chelsea Sawyer was always my favorite 'story' that made it in. Also the 'built like a bowling ball' line for Ayuko Konishi remains hilarious</p><p> </p><p>

EDIT: Suggestion: Add the attribute 'Low Risk Grinder' to Salma Lindqvist based on her profile.</p><p> </p><p>

EDIT2: Thanks for your hard work as always, man.</p>

Just wanted to say thanks for the mod. I was sad to see that there weren't going to be any fighters that debut later in the game and your mod at least allows me to be surprised from the female side. It also adds more depth to the database which I appreciate since I always like to sign a lot of people and see who rises to the top.

No, keep the pictures themselves. They are still used. But you don't need to keep the f_ free pictures in your database. If you do keep them, you'll end up some duplicates. Some people are cool with that.

  • 2 weeks later...

<p>I probably won't be releasing any more updates to this as I think it runs smooth enough and is balanced.</p><p> </p><p>

If someone is feeling inspirational and wants to work on an update to this to either:</p><p>

- write new narratives (either just flavor or with consequences programmed that change the gameworld)</p><p>

- add new fighters</p><p> </p><p>

please <strong>PM </strong>me and I'll send you the last data (containing some attribute additions noted above).</p><p> </p><p>

If you want to make your own alternative data you can go ahead and release that as a separate pack.</p>

<p>That one's actually better than the WMMA4 one. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I see what the problem was though. Her picture was set to f_white_0180 and my pics stop at 0179. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Also, don't speak of domination to me! All I get are upsets! <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> In my first save (default data), Hope Lehane tapped to strikes when fighting Tabitha Cameron (in my first event of the save). Then Kirsten Page beats Tabitha (KO1) in her first defense and then went on to get knocked out herself by Hanako Shimizu in her second defense. And now in the CVE save, Sarah Vaughan just got knocked the hell out by Monica Masters (again, first event of the save). I wish I could actually believe the betting odds but this must be the Inside Out because outside of -1200/+800, nothing seems to actually be accurate!</p><p> </p><p>

And yes, I'm aware that upsets are "good".....until your HLR/LLN champion falls to a LLR/MLR challenger and hoses the whole division with "weak champion" perceptions/penalties.</p>

I call it: "WMMA5: Revenge of the Strikers". In GAMMA, my titles are getting held exclusively by strikers, whereas in my WEFF saves in WMMA4, a pure striker never had a chance. The upsets are because the fighters got on top in the previous engine. But the rules have changed.</p><p> </p><p> I don't think it's a bad thing as it tends to make Pam even more successful than she used to be (until her chin deteriorates and she fades away into obscurity). <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> And if you don't like it, you can just customize the engine. With some trial and error, you can get it back to WMMA4 level. Maybe a modder should experiment with that. So far we've only seen a kickboxing mod, which is easy to make as you just turn off grappling moves entirely.</p><p> </p><p> Kirsten Page was perhaps the biggest surprise. She is living proof the "head kicker" attribute works as intended <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />, where she would be destroyed in WMMA4 by practically anybody.</p>
