Jaysin
All kinds of new music. New Alkaline Trio "Is This Thing Cursed?" is wonderful New Coheed & Cambria's "Unheavenly Creatures" is delightful. All Hail The Yeti released a new track from their upcoming album and it's killer. Check it out Also just picked up Kid Cudi's new EP with Kanye. I hate Kanye, but I'll always support Cudi. What's everyone else listening to? moon_lit_tears
Thought I'd start this as no one has already which came as a huge surprise for me as well its music everyone likes music, thought it'd be quite cool to see which musicians and genre's people are into on the forum or just discuss anything to do with music in any way. I myself primarily listen to anything Rock related anything from A-Z you name it there probably is at least one song I like in any subgenre. Some of my favorite bands are Green Day, Breaking Benjamin, The Smashing Pumpkins, Slipknot, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Blink 182, System Of A Down, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance, The Clash and Three Days Grace those are just some of them though. Outside of Rock I listen to some Country, a tiny bit of rap (but enough to know most modern day rappers aren't good), a lot of Japanese stuff because I'm a weeb (not actually a proper weeb I just like using the word), a little bit of indie and a small minority of jazz/soul. We seem to have a lot of music interest in common. I grew up with stuff like Guns and roses, New kids, and so on. I go in all directions with music. I’m not into metal. Screaming does nothing for me, modern rap is kind of meh. I think one of my favorite singers to put on right now is Daughtry along with Three days, some afastball, Oasus, and the like. I’ll admit I like Nickleback 😛

The Swanton825
Static X, Powerman 5000, Marilyn Manson, and Mushroomhead all released good albums this year...what a strange development This year has been crazy enough that I'm surprised Limp Bizkit didn't put out a chart topping album. Such a phenomenal song and video, and I am barely even of a fan of the genre Unrelated, any fans of rap/hiphop here? Reaaallly late replying to this, but I love 90s West Coast hip hop and anyone inspired by it like Kendrick Lamar. Wu-Tang is another favorite of mine as well as horrorcore like Gravediggaz, Flatlinerz and a lot of Tech N9ne's output come to think of it. Jaysin
Unrelated, any fans of rap/hiphop here? I like 80s rap and 90s "thug"/"gangsta" rap quite a bit. Huge fan of Tupac, Biggie, Snoop, NWA, Public Enemy, Wu Tang, and Bone Thugs(Cleveland <3). Modern rappers I dig are Hopsin and Tech N9ne. Not a fan of most modern rap though, especially mumble rap. Jaysin
So millennials around my age would probably dig the band Chaoseum. They are 100% inspired by Korn and nu metal and I am all for it. I like that there's a new generation of nu metal inspired bands the last few years. Gemini Syndrome are another nu metal esque band that's absolutely killing it. The Swanton825
Oh, that delicious 90s and early 2000s angst, how I've missed you! I really thought the closest I was ever going to get to a nu metal revival was Cane Hill and Vein (both of whom I really enjoy) but neither could scratch that Korn itch I've had that not even Korn themselves could scratch. I also love the fact that Chaoseum's singer looks like Jonathan Davis in Joker makeup, it's so tryhard edgy and I love it.

djskeemask
I've tackled my 40's crisis becoming a metalhead. Mostly powermetal stuff... Manowar, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Iron Maiden... this kind of sh#t. If there is no axes, dragons or warriors in the lyrics is not my kind of stuff :D:D:D Check out Amon Amarth (viking mythology metal). They have songs about Thor fighting Jörmungandr. Not a fan of growling vocals, but this guy growls in tune and the lyrics about fighting, warriors, and vikings make up for it. Also, check out Sabaton. They kind of remind me of Rammstein but they sing a lot about World War II and other war related themes. Sparta, Samurais, Normandy, The Bismark, Winged Hussars (Polish cavalry), etc.

Good taste in rap, my friend. I've been fortunate enough to see Bone Thugs a few times. One was in an old ballroom in my area. I was lucky enough to be early and get right up on the stage to where I could reach up and touch Bizzy's shoes if I wanted to. I didn't dare do it though cause he was trippin' out of his mind. He would stare at me with this death stare and miss a lot of his cues. Didn't care though cause that show was the anniversary of E. 1999 Eternal and they did the whole album with a couple other classics thrown in. After they were done performing, the stage exit was on my side of the stage and as they were getting off, Layzie looked at me and motioned for a cigarette from me. I threw him a Marlboro medium. Apparently he's into menthols cause he got a Newport from the sound guy and threw my cig back...LOL. I was with my ex at the time and she had amazing pictures of the whole thing and she deleted them out of spite to me.

Jaysin
My tastes are all over the spectrum, but since it's release in October, I have been obsessed with Sleep Token's sophomore album This Place Will Become Your Tomb. I cannot talk these guys up enough. They have a very unique sound and some of the best lyrical content out there. They are also very hard to describe. Some stand out tracks:
falling_star
So, blink-182 is back with Tom for new music and it's... well, if you're still a fan of dicks jokes and immature sex talk, it might be up your alley. But after all the evolution and maturity in their music across the self-titled album and Neighborhoods, both of which I think are excellent albums, I'm very disappointed for the sophomoric, fairly uninspired return. And they're saying they made the best album of the career... I only hope the rest of it is better than "EDGING."

He's a better song writer than the blink guys and a much better vocalist. Alkaline Trio blows blink out of the water in every way in my opinion. Not saying I dislike blink, I actually love them, but I feel like this reunion with Tom is them riding on nostalgia. Anyway, Kid Cudi, Slipknot, and Wednesday 13 all released albums recently. Slipknot's album is very mediocre. The Dying Song is the only real standout track. Hoping that now that they're free from Roadrunner, they can find themselves again. The last few records haven't lived up to their older discography. Cudi has another solid entry into his discography with the track New Mode really standing out. Wednesday's new one tho has been fantastic. Perfectly timed release with spooky season in full swing. Also, randomly been listening to Metallica's Kill Em All record and Acid Bath's Kite String Goes Pop a lot lately. I'm very much anti-Lars, but man, Kill Em All is a metal masterpiece and Acid Bath is stoner royalty.
djskeemask
Metallica's ...And Justice For All and Master Of Puppets albums are their best. Their newest, Hardwired album is a return to those days. Not exactly the same, but they are longer and heavier songs than previous mainstream albums. I couldn't stand Slipknot's new album at all, it sounded more like one of those Slipknot copycat bands from the mid 2000s like Motograter than an actual Slipknot album. Machine Head also disappointed once again except this time you get faked out by Slaughter the Martyr reminding you of the good old days of The Blackening and Unto the Locust before being smacked upside the head by the following twelve tracks of dreck. I really need to stop expecting anything from Robb Flynn. Also, in a weird coincidence, Acid Bath's Toubabo Koomi popped up in my nightly song rotation yesterday. Acid Bath are right up there with Snot as a fantastic 90s metal band cut short too soon by tragedy.
