June 2018 Draft Hype/Signup Thread

Recommended Posts

Also, since we have a mix of new and returning drafters, a request:

If you are knowingly going to be away for awhile (sleep, work, etc...) try and leave a list with someone via PM or as we get later in the draft in the thread.

40 rounds is a lot to get through, and these things can slog a bit especially in the later rounds if a lot of people go AFK.

A little over 2 hours until draft time!

Being alone for once is an awkward experience but fun. With 5 Rounds in, OLLIE has the Maineventers set up. Now onward with the Uppercarders.

Woulda signed up for this had I been around but I am not so I didn't. Hopefully we get a few diaries from the created companies in the draft. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I'm really liking my roster so far. Here's what I got:

FACES:

Duane Stone

Jack DeColt

Edd Stone

Johnny Bloodstone

HEELS:

Steve DeColt

Wolf Hawkins

Matthew Keith

Squeeky McClean

Benny Benson would have been a face and Edd Stone would have been a heel if DatIsraeliGuy didn't get to Benson before I could! That's what I get for taking Edd Stone I guess!

Updated roster look.

My starting pop in Japan should be around 90 and we locked up national battles with Garner/Nakasawa picks. My junior division is scary good, any one of them could end up being the "ace" of that division. I still prefer @Dr_Avalanche's heavyweights to mine right now

Juniors:

Emerald Angel

A quick update on the state of the SSW roster: As I've said elsewhere, I didn't set out to be the "WIN ALL OF THE NATIONAL BATTLES" guy. I figured I'd get stuck with a low draft pick and wind up overdrafting the younger workers that aren't as popular as the bigger names.

When I got the #1 pick, that strategy went out the window. Tommy Cornell was the only guy I could logically take given my "performance > popularity" model, and when I traded up from 21 to 18, Rocky Golden was surprisingly still available. Those two were a pretty strong 1-2 punch early on, and that allowed me to take Sammy Bach at 20, which was more of a curiosity pick for me (I've never actually booked him in a game).

Add me to the list of people ticked off that New Wave and the Bumfholes went when they did. I was planning on taking one of those teams with my next two picks, but neither dropped. My backup plan after that was to form an unorthodox tag team of Brandon and Mikey James...except I momentarily didn't realize Brandon James was taken overnight, a few rounds before that. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Thankfully, Eddie Peak was a perfect substitute, since he can fill any role on a roster.

I'm pretty happy with the guys I've gotten so far, including some of the younger workers (James, Stardust, and Cannonball in particular). I may have reached a bit for Peter Michaels, but nobody else jumped out at me in the 13th round, so I opted for the best announcer available. He may also wind up being my booker, depending on how the rest of the draft shakes out.

World of Wrestling:

Based in Montréal, Québec, Canada, Victoria Stone-McFly and Alex DeColt's company may not have the biggest names, flashiest stars or best finance, but it has two things unlike any other roster in the world: A loaded Women's Division, and a bunch of young Canadian talent.

The selling point of this company has to be the Women's Division, led by one of the best wrestlers, male or female, in the C-Verse - Alicia Strong, and followed by great talent such as Zoe Ammis, Sara Marie York, Amber Allen and more, they set to turn Canada ablaze with sound wrestling qualities and varrying styles.

In addition, they host the always promising X-Division, made off of the likes of made names like Trent Shaffer, Jacob Jett and Benny Benson, but also young talent looking to make their mark like Kirk Jameson, Spencer Spade and Davis Wayne Newton.

Add that to an already great top of the card - Ricky DeColt, Shooter Sean Deeley, Mighty Mo and the great Sean McFly, and you have a roster that puts the "Wrestling" in WOW.

Now near the end of the Draft its that time again. Feedback is always appreciated. Ill do mine in the next days.

- What was your goal in drafting your roster?

- What pick were you most excited about?

- Are there any picks you regret?

- What were some of your favorite picks made by other players?

- What were some picks made that puzzled you?

- How do you see your promotion unfolding once you're able to play it?
