SCW: "You Gotta Have Faith" (C-Verse)

Recommended Posts

The Edward Cornell bidding war didn't last long. USPW snapped him up for a fair bit of money, and part of their urgency may have been due to losing one of their biggest stars. In a real loss for the business, Sammy Bach tore his quad, and will be out for nearly a year.

SCW South East Tour

March 2018, Week One

Location: Generic Venue, South East

Attendance: 801

Jacob Jett arrives at the building, but is promptly greeted by Ross Henry. Henry asks if he intends to have someone else do his bidding for him again tonight. Jett laughs and snaps his fingers. Suddenly, Brute Kikuchi walks in…along with BISON YANO. Jett says Yano will challenge Flying Jimmy Foxx for the Southern title, while Yano gets Henry in the main event. (B-)

Island Boy Apollo vs. Shooter Sean Deeley

Apollo is a useful enhancement guy who can go in the ring, so putting him with a talented worker in Deeley made sense. This was an extended squash, as Deeley forced Apollo to tap at 10:11 to a Front Choke Lock. ©

Shooter Sean Deeley continues the assault after the match, and Island Boy Apollo taps out repeatedly with Deeley screaming Buddy Garner’s name. Eventually, Deeley leaves the ring with a sick smile on his face. (C+)

SCW SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP: Flying Jimmy Foxx © vs. BISON Yano

Foxx carried his newly-won title into battle here against the debuting Yano, who we gave plenty of offense to. However, Foxx popped the crowd at 12:07, when he earned the three-count following a Flying Foxx. (C-)

Flying Jimmy Foxx’s celebration is short-lived, as Logan Wolfsbaine runs out and attacks him. He’s stopped after a moment by Peter Michaels, who comes in from the commentary desk to announce that Wolfsbaine will get his rematch for the title at Ides of March. (B-)

The Lucha Lions and The Ring Generals vs. The Dynamite Express, Aldous Blackfriar, and Bret Heartbreak

This didn’t resonate with fans as much as it would’ve had it been held at our home base, but this was still fun. Ultimately, the good guys prevailed at 11:52, when Cougar pinned Cameron Jones after an I Am Cougar, Hear Me Roar. (C-)

The Lucha Lions celebrate with their tag titles, but The Ring Generals engage them in a brief stare down. Eventually, the tension is broken with hand shakes, but the Generals keep their eyes on the belts. (C+)

Marc DuBois vs. Justin Sensitive

Well, we knew we were taking a risk. DuBois showed up high as a kite again, and it was a real problem. Sensitive tried hard, but this was dead on arrival, and the crowd didn’t care much when DuBois won at 17:32. (D+)

SCW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: Ross Henry vs. Brute Kikuchi

Kikuchi is rapidly making a name for himself, and even with Henry hurting, this match wasn’t bad. Henry’s title, though, was never seriously in doubt, and he retained it at 17:50 following an Earthquake Powerslam. ©

Ross Henry sticks around after the match, embracing the fans and posing for pictures. (B)

SHOW RATING: C+. The segments boosted the show, where the in-ring action lagged a bit behind. Once Cougar and Henry heal up, though, we ought to be okay (and Cougar will be 100% by Ides of March).

We fired Marc DuBois for his second straight show working while under the influence of soft drugs. It was worth the risk to bring him in, but he screwed up multiple times. He hates me now, but that's okay. I just hope he doesn't kill himself.

Up next: Ides of March, where Ross Henry’s title, and the careers of Rogue and Bryan Vessey, will be on the line…BUT there’s a problem with one of the other matches on the card. Because of COURSE there is.
