The Heartbreak Express & Jebediah (with Lisa Bowen)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A passable opening six man tag match to get the crowd going, this one plays up the rivalry between the Death Squad and the Heartbreak Express in light of their upcoming title clash, with Jebediah adding some much needed power to the babyface team. El Sultán, for all his in-ring skill and funny antics, proves that two sheiks are just too much for one ring and ends up being the weakest link of his team after an argument between him and the Sheik allows Jebediah to slam him on the mat and deliver the Sundown Splash for the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The Heartbreak Express & Jebediah, by pinfall</strong></p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

As the winning team is celebrating and the Heartbreak Express do the 'title belt' gesture around their waists, Lisa Bowen gets on the mic to announce that from now on, she will also be managing Jebediah and their first stop will be claiming the Piledriver United States title!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="IqChfad.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IqChfad.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Buck Winchester © vs Riley McManus</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Winchester won the US title off a roster original in Logan Diaz and his first defense is also against a man who has been with the company since day one, Riley McManus. Both men have proven their ring acumen and indeed the match delivers on the hype, even if McManus seems to be a bit unfocused at times. Riley takes Winchester's best shots and once he manages to lock up with him, his technical skill puts him in control. By the time he lifts up Winchester for the rope bounce to deliver the Slingshot Suplex it feels like a done deal, but something prevents the rebound.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="BX7IQui.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BX7IQui.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="EpQsPaC.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EpQsPaC.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

That something is MAW loyalists Syd Collier and the Architect, having snuck to ringside unnoticed, each grabbing one of Winchester's feet. McManus' grip slips and he falls back first onto the mat, hopping back up to chase the interlopers away before he turns around to walk right into Winchester's dreaded new finisher, the Texas Backbreaker.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Buck Winchester, by pinfall after Syd Collier and the Architect interfered</strong></p><p><strong>

After retreating to a safe distance, Collier and the Architect get on the mic to taunt McManus, who snaps back at them before giving chase to the backstage area.</p><p>

Scythe & Reaper vs Masked Patriot & Logan Diaz</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Prior experience says Scythe and Reaper don't exactly click as a team but lucky for them (and to the dismay of fans) neither do Patriot and Diaz, apparently! Fortunately, the booking of the match is such that it emphasizes characters and storytelling. After a long feud with Scythe & Reaper, Patriot joins their latest victim in Diaz to seek revenge and emotions don't take long to reach boiling point, leading to a double countout as all four men get caught up in a heated, personal brawl at ringside.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Double countout draw</strong></p><p><strong>

COTT Women's title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Foxxy LaRue © vs Eri Sato</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Both women employ a very physical wrestling style, which makes for a hard hitting match with little grappling or high flying. Still, Sato's slick, martial arts based style is a contrast to LaRue's rough and tumble street fighting jam but all it takes is a Flash Head Kick to end the exciting match at 13:36.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Foxxy LaRue, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

A pre-recorded message airs next, with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer hyping up the Piledriver Women's champion "Ice Cold" Claire Winters as he warns Tracy Brendon she'll come up short.</p><p>

30 minute time limit</strong></p><p><strong>

#1 contender for the Piledriver Championship title rematch</strong></p><p><strong>

"The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera vs Lenny Brown</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

After a thrilling match at Thanksbeating last month, Ferrera and Brown meet again in the main event with ten more minutes on the clock after their initial time limit draw. Things are off to a sluggish start once more, but at least Ferrera isn't avoiding his opponent this time, just playing mind games as he tries to interrupt the match flow and frustrate Brown. Things take a bit to pick up, but once they do it's a series of fluid sequences that lead to several false finishes; Ferrera comes up empty after a Ferrerarana when Brown kicks out at two. A second attempt from Ferrera is countered into Brown's signature pop-up rana but once again, it's a two count only. Lifting Ferrera into a fireman's carry position, Brown looks for the Star Treatment but Ferrera manages to wiggle free and create some space with a dropkick, before climbing the top turnbuckle for the High Impact Frog Splash. Brown barely rolls out of the way and hops up to execute an awesome flying avalanche for yet another two count. Both men struggle to get back on their feet by this point and almost collapse onto each other as they trade blows in the middle of the ring when the bell rings to signal the end of thirty minutes.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Time limit draw</strong></p><p>

Neither man is happy with the outcome and both rile up the fans into chants of "five more minutes" until finally, Lee Wright's music hits the speakers and he comes out with a mic in hand. Both men have a chance on the stick to plead their cases, but Wright says he cannot extend the show's duration. What he can do however, since neither man has managed to become the #1 contender is to give them both a shot; at Night of the Champions, it will be Xavi Ferrera versus Lenny Brown versus Masked Patriot in a Triple Threat match for the Piledriver Championship!</p><p>

I tend to write shows as I run them, meaning once I've posted a show, I gotta move forward to book the next and post the finalized card. I'm out of time for now, but I'd like to do a proper narrative before the big final show of the year instead of just rushing things to post a simple card. Is there any particular worker you'd like me to shine a light on?

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="aMXABmX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aMXABmX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Jake Sawyer leaned in closer to the mirror and re-adjusted his bow tie. He was a consummate professional who'd take great care to look the part, but he was also extremely conscious when it came to his appearance, even for a man who had lived all 40 of his life years in Los Angeles. Every day he'd carefully shave his face before trimming his pointy soul patch and twirly mustache, followed by a methodical application of facial moisturizer and beard oil. He'd comb his hair as soon as he got out of bed and at times even use a hair net while asleep. His tuxedoes were well kept and off to the dry cleaner's after each show, his shoes meticulously shined before worn and then given a freshener right before he'd walk out of the curtain. His manager character wasn't a long shot from his actual self, whether he'd tweak it to be more of a rich snob or a southern gentleman to fit whatever promotion he was working for.</p><p> </p><p> When he started off in the indy circuit, he'd been hailed as the man who'd bring back the lost art of the male manager. He was oldschool, but at the same time felt fresh in a scene dominated by good looking females. In early 2008, he finally made it to the big leagues when TCW gave him a chance. Tried to make him the new Herb Stately when they teamed him with big monster heels who couldn't or shouldn't get on the mic themselves. Jake did his part. He played the role. He cut the promos. He ran interference. He took the bumps. All he got for it was a release note just four months after he signed a contract, no explanation as to how or why.</p><p> </p><p> Jake was devastated. He felt like he blew his one big chance, especially when no booking calls followed his release. He had everything, including some television exposure and a low price, but no one would hire him for some reason. Disappointed, as time went by he had to make ends meet so he took whatever odd job he could land. Commercials and short cameos at first, but as he grew older even show business rejected him. Best gig he'd get would be playing host at a semi-fancy L.A. restaurant; he'd get to wear his suits and the wrinkles on his face were a bonus implying class and experience. A restaurant job. Where failed actors go to die, once they're too old to be a barista or whatever they call coffee-makers these days.</p><p> </p><p> When Sheik Ali Al-Avatar called him, Jake thought it was a prank call at first. How could he not, Sheik took method acting to the next level. He was out of touch with the wrestling scene after 8 years on the sidelines; time was not on his side and flying in from L.A. to Florida? Yet when the Sheik told him he was already managing a monster heel in Annihilus and needed him to run a stable of badass females, something clicked. Jake had a thing for the ladies and this approach felt like something familiar he could pull off while also being a long shot from managing monster heels to feel fresh. He didn't want to be a sad shell of his past self looking for one last go as the new Herb Stately. He wanted to be the slick sports manager of stars. With his wardrobe and a group of no-nonesense ladies around him, he'd switch to the other end of the spectrum. He wouldn't be oldschool anymore, he'd be on the cutting edge, bring a hint of MMA to the wrestling ring.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46150" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="xrIBjB8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xrIBjB8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">The Night Of The Champions</span></strong></p><p><strong> Saturday, Week 4 December, 2018</strong></p><p><strong> Live from the North Carolina Biker Museum, NC</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Main Event</strong></p><p><strong> COTT World Heavyweight title</strong></p><p> Scythe © vs Logan Diaz</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-Main Event</strong></p><p><strong> Piledriver Championship triple threat match</strong></p><p> Masked Patriot © vs Lenny Brown vs Xavi Ferrera</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Piledriver Women's title match</strong></p><p> Claire Winters © vs Tracy Brendon</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p> Buck Winchester © vs Nate DeMarcus</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Three Way Elimination match</strong></p><p> Riley McManus vs Syd Collier vs The Architect</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Special Singles match</strong></p><p> El Sultán (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar) vs Jebediah (with Lisa Bowen)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Piledriver Tag Team titles match</strong></p><p> The Death Squad © vs The Heartbreak Express</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opener</strong></p><p><strong> Golden Graduate Tournament Six Man Elimination match</strong></p><p> Six graduates of the Piledriver Wrestling School will participate in the first ever Golden Graduate tournament, to be held annualy every December. Featuring</strong></p><p><strong>

"Killer" Carl Bernard, Jonah Pilgrim, Jules Knight, Reaper, Kenneth Drebin and The Personal Space Invader</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The opening match for the brand new Golden Graduate cup is both a celebration and a reminder of the Piledriver Wrestling School's graduates. Bernard and Knight are well known as such, but seeing Pilgrim and Reaper (who's had a stint in Puerto Rico with FCW as Mutant) in it is a reminder that they too graduated from the school. Making their main show debuts however are two new faces, dim-witted hillbilly Kenneth Drebin (or derpin, as he's been calld on social media by smarks who've seen his dark matches) and the hilarious Personal Space Invader, a masked "alien" who likes to get uncomfortably close to grapple. Once the bell rings, Bernard goes after the biggest, baddest target he can find in Reaper, while Pilgrim and Knight lock up in a greco-roman knuckle lock. Meanwhile, the two new faces are left in the middle of the ring to deliver a comedy sequence that ends up with Drebin tricked and eliminated by the galactic grappler. Bernard, after having clotheslined Reaper out of the ring, turns his attention to the other participants and picks up Pilgrim from behind for the inverted atomic drop that leads to a pin; Bernard's adrenaline rush comes back to bite him though as he roars in triumph when a recovered Reaper spears him at full speed. With almost 400lbs of bone and muscle trampling him, Bernard goes down and Reaper falls on top of him for the elimination, leaving Knight, Reaper and the Personal Space Invader in the ring. The masked competitor cowardly leaves the ring and Knight tries to wear the big man down, but lacking in striking power as he is, he needs to close in and shoot for a takedown. Easier said than done, Knight finally goes for it only to get stopped, picked up and powerbombed with a sit-out leading to his elimination. Once it's down to Reaper and the alien, it feels like the match can end via pinfall or countout and in both cases, Reaper wins. It's the former that happens, with the masked man grabbed as he tries to roll in and out to simply break the ref's count. Dragged to the middle of the ring, the Personal Space Invader gets hit with a big chokebomb and the match is over.</p><p>

The Heartbreak Express (with Lisa Bowen)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Wolfe starts the match looking to outpower the challengers, who use frequent tags to always keep the fresh man in and confuse Wolfe with a whirlwind of offense from all angles. The Express make the best of their experience together as a team to isolate one man and work on him, but Wolfe's power allows him to power out of a tight spot and do some damage before tagging in the super heavyweight Annihilus.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="1F1k6Ha.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1F1k6Ha.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

For whatever reason of his own (and maybe to draw attention away from the lack of any wrestling skill in the big man), El Sultán joins the Sheik's forces at ringside but once again, the two men just can't get along and an argument apparently erupts between them. Wolfe makes a move to get in the way but what he ends up doing is catching a Sultán blow straight to the jaw just as Annihilus blind-tags him to take care of the match while he protects the Sheik. The miscommunication has Wolfe stunned and as the legal man, with Liotta capitalize to hit him with a Swinging Neckbreaker just as Annihilus mauls El Sultán at ringside. Caught up in the moment and oblivious to what's transpiring between the ropes, Sheik and Annihilus let Wolfe on his own and only when the bell rings and the music hits do they realize that the Heartbreak Express have won the titles.</p><p>

El Sultán vs Jebediah (with Lisa Bowen)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Damaged by Annihilus and abandoned by the Sheik, El Sultán finds himself in the next match against the amish giant Jebediah, who has no problem continuing the assault in what turns out to be an extremely one-sided match. On top of it, the two men's antics don't exactly seem to click and fans quickly lose attention, using the time for a bathroom break or consession stand re-fill until Jebediah hits the Sundown Splash to score the pin.</p><p>

Three Way Elimination match</strong></p><p><strong>

Riley McManus vs Syd Collier vs The Architect</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

As the announcing trio fills us in, this match came to be after McManus demanded retaliation for the other two men costing him a United States title match; since he didn't pick one in particular for a singles match and the powers that be wouldn't accept a handicap match for Night of the Champions, the decision was made to make it into a three way dance. The elimination rules allow the competitors to tell an interesting story, as it's not just the ex-MAW turned Piledriver defender McManus against the two MAW loyalists, but also a fragile alliance between them as neither Collier nor the Architect seem willing to pin each other but may find themselves in that spot anyway if they manage to eliminate McManus first. It's a pretty cerebral match with a lot of psychology to it and the three men's technical styles are pretty fitting for it with McManus using the dissent to roll up the Architect from behind for the quick pin that brings him one on one against Collier. The two men go hold for hold for the rest of the match, but with Riley smartly maintaining his vertical base, Collier never gets a real chance to work on settung up the Texas Cloverleaf; instead, he finds his own feet bouncing against the ropes around the twelfth minute and with the Slingshot Suplex delivered, McManus gets the big win in a feel good moment.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Riley McManus, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="87E3trK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/87E3trK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Backstage, Logan Diaz delivers a promo about how he may have lost the United States title to Winchester, but he too is moving up in the world and much better than the man he originally won the title off from; Diaz wrapped up his reign with one more defense than Ferrera. He's one-upped him and will do so again. Xavi Ferrera may be in the main event wrestling for the Piledriver Championship, but Diaz issued a challenge to Scythe for the COTT World Heavyweight title. Rules may prevent the COTT champions from facing people working for the same promotion, but the way Diaz sees it, if he can beat Scythe, he deserves to take his title so let the Confederation come work it out with him afterwards.</p><p>

Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Buck Winchester © vs Nate "The Great" DeMarcus</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

More or less evenly matched in size and power, the two men face off in a competitive match for the title. Winchester, as usual, is out for an oldschool brawl but anything more complicated than a chop or forearm he throws feels sloppy, which in turn allows DeMarcus to not only fight back but also deliver a couple of rough suplexes to disorient the Texas native. DeMarcus takes control of the match from that point on and wears down Winchester with a combination of power moves and slams, but all it takes is one lucky moment for Winchester to reverse one of those into the Texas Backbreaker for the pin.</p><p>

Piledriver Women's title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Tracy Brendon vs "Ice Cold" Claire Winters © (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

For all their blue-eyed charm, both ladies here prove themselves to be ultra-serious competitors in a solid wrestling match. So much that when Sawyer tries to distract the challenger, Winters get in the way and tells him to stay out of this; she wants to prove a point and beat Brendon clean. That moment allows the focus to be on the match without worries about Sawyer's antics, yet when Brendon finally hits the Idaho Crunch and goes for the cover, Sawyer rushes into the ring to clog her in the face with the title belt.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Tracy Brendon, by disqualification</strong></p><p>

Winters is disqualified and Sawyer celebrates with the title held high, still with his client thanks to champion's advantage. Winters doesn't seem to share his joy though and the two have a moment of arguing in the ring, before Winters grabs the belt out of his hands and walks away.</p><p>

Scythe © vs Logan Diaz</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Things start off a bit slow with a test of strength and some opening strikes, but soon both men begin to bust out bigger and bigger moves. Matching the champion in size and power, Diaz proves to be his toughest challenger yet, tougher perhaps than even Masked Patriot as he pushes Scythe to an extremely hard hitting match that looks as if both men are looking to drive each other through the canvas. So much, that Scythe gets desperate and when Diaz grabs him for the Belly to Belly Suplex, he sweeps the leg and holds the trunks to keep him down for the three count to end the match just short of eighteen thrilling minutes.</p><p>

Piledriver Championship title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Lenny Brown vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera vs Masked Patriot © (with Miss Atlantic Wrestling)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Odds in this match are against Masked Patriot retaining and he doesn't even have to get pinned for that to happen. Because of that and his recent clashes with Scythe and Reaper, Miss Atlantic Wrestling accompanies him to the ring and stays on his corner for both moral support and a watchful eye to guard his back. Momentum shifts between all three men, who all bring their A game for this big match in pursuit of the title, a twenty plus minute epic that has fans on the edge of their seat until the big finish where Lenny Brown, who had been focusing his offense on Ferrera for the entire match, suddenly turns around to hit Patriot with the Star Treatment and pin him to become the new champ.</p><p>

<p>Piledriver Wrestling is proud to announce the brackets for the upcoming Rip Chord Invitational XIV and start 2019 with a bang, as the tournament will stretch out over not one, but two whole shows! That's right, a total of 16 competitors will compete in this year's tournament, with the first eight matches of the elimination round taking place at War for Territory #13, while the rest of the tournament will unravel at the Rip Chord Invitational show itself, to be held in the final Saturday of January.</p><p> </p><p>

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">War for Territory #13</span></strong></p><p><strong>

Saturday, Week 2 January, 2019</strong></p><p><strong>

Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The show kicks off with a presentation of the four guest competitors, each representing one COTT member promotion: El Héroe Mexicano for OLLIE, Frankie Dee for 4C, Jackpot Jordan for CZCW and Spencer Spade for NYCW. Every man is announced and comes out to say a few words, then they all retreat to get ready for their respective matches tonight.</p><p>

Riley McManus vs The Architect</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The first qualifier sees ongoing rivals Riley McManus and The Architect fight it out for a spot in the next phase of the tournament. It's an oldschool match with a good mix of brawling and technical wrestling that sets the stage for the rest of the show and one McManus wins clean now that the Architect hasn't got Collier around to help him.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Riley McManus, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

Riley McManus will face either Frankie Dee or Scythe in the next stage</strong></p><p><strong>

Logan Diaz vs Reaper</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A straightforward hoss fight between two of the biggest men on the roster, this one plays out more like a sumo match as the two massive competitors crash headfirst onto each other and try to outpower the opposition. Once that leads to a stalemate, both wrestlers switch to a standing fight of trading big blows until Diaz changes his game to shoot for Reaper's legs. Thanks to the element of surprise, Reaper goes down and his own weight is used against him as Diaz locks in a Boston Crab to earn a smart tap out win and advance to the next stage.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Logan Diaz, by submission</strong></p><p><strong>

Logan Diaz will face either Nate DeMarcus or Spencer Spade</strong></p><p><strong>

Jackpot Jordan vs Xavi Ferrera</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

First match of the night to feature a guest competitor and Jordan really brings a hearty dose of CZCW insanity with him as he and Ferrera engage in a fast paced, jaw dropping athletic competition of flips, spins, rolls and dives galore. Fans are treated to a wide array of spectacular spots in a match that feels widely different from the one that preceded it and Ferrera ends up winning it via his signature High Impact Frog Splash finisher.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Xavi Ferrra, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

Xavi Ferrera will face either George Wolfe or Masked Patriot</strong></p><p><strong>

Masked Patriot vs George Wolfe (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Both men are out to prove a point after recently having lost championship gold and this makes for a pretty rugged, physical confrontation between the ropes. Wolfe enjoys a slight size and power advantage and he uses that to punish his opponent with slams and suplexes, while Patriot showcases his universal skill as he switches between his various options until he can find one that works against the Crusher, delivering the Patriot Powerslam for the win.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Masked Patriot, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

As soon as the match is over, a video graphic is displayed to highlight the first confirmed matchup for the Rip Chord XIV quarterfinals: Masked Patriot will be competing against "the Athlete" Xavi Ferrera!</p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Lenny Brown vs Syd Collier</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Brand new Piledriver champion Lenny Brown is up against the last ever Mid Atlantic champion in Syd Collier next and from the opening exchange it's clear these two were meant to fight each other. Brown sells Collier's mat grappling like his life depends upon it and Collier too takes Brown's biggest moves in a way that makes him look like a million bucks. The Star Treatment and pin come just before the ninth minute and already it feels like these two have a lot more to give between the ropes.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Lenny Brown, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

Lenny Brown will face either Buck Winchester or El Héroe Mexicano</strong></p><p><strong>

Frankie Dee vs Scythe</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Frankie Dee is representing Canada's 4C in this year's Invitational, but his history with Scythe goes back to when the Chokeslam Chief defeated him to win the COTT World Heavyweight title, making this a personal rematch even if the title itself isn't on the line. Dee pulls off his biggest moves in a quest to win this and prove he deserves a title rematch, but all it takes is one lucky opening for his massive opponent to deliver a spine crushing chokeslam and make things 2-0 between them.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Scythe, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="IqChfad.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IqChfad.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Once more, an on-screen graphic illustrates the second confirmed pairing for the Rip Chord Invitational XIV quarterfinals, Scythe versus Riley McManus!</p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Nate "The Great" DeMarcus vs "The Supreme Entertainer" Spencer Spade</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Although he's now wrestling for NYCW, Spade has been hard-branded as RIPW and SWF material, a character he plays up for all the heel heat he can get. This adds an extra layer of drama and symbolism to the match, as he ends up representing sports entertainment against the oldschool MAW style of DeMarcus. This is apparent from the start of the match when Spade occupies himself with posing and taunting instead of locking up, all the way to the finish where "The Supreme Entertainer" grabs onto his opponent's tights to secure the dirty pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Spencer Spade, by pinfall with a handful of tights</strong></p><p>

<img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Another pairing confirmed, as the graphic points out, Spencer Spade will be wrestling Logan Diaz in the quarterfinals of the Rip Chord Invitational XIV!</p><p>

Buck Winchester vs El Héroe Mexicano</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

It's main event time and indeed the matchup pits Texas cowboy and Piledriver US champion Buck Winchester against OLLIE's star and champion, El Héroe Mexicano. Unlike what fans might have expected from the luchador Héroe, the match is actually pretty well paced as the Mexican champion shows he can brawl, grapple and fly as opposed to his more one-dimensional opponent. Of course, what Winchester does he does it well, but every time El Héroe Mexicano busts out a controlled burst of frantic aerial offensive sequences, he finds himself on the receiving end very quickly as he's unable to answer what Héroe brings to the table. Things slowly get faster and more dramatic and Héroe Mexicano even manages to slide out of a tight spot when he barely evades getting hit with a Texas Backbreaker, instead rolling up his opponent to get the pin and advance.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: El Héroe Mexicano, by pinfall with a quick roll up</strong></p><p>

<img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

While El Héroe Mexicano celebrates his victory, the final graphic confirms his next match will also be a champion versus champion match as he will be going to war with the Piledriver champion himself, Lenny Brown!</p><p>

Not that he didn't deserve it. He had been tearing it up, both in America and Japan with BCG. He was big and bad enough to convicingly defeat Scythe and at age 35, it was probably the right time to put the belt on him in recognition of his contributions before his peak was past him. I just didn't like the fact that Scythe's reign was cut short after 8 defenses, when Dee before him got up to 14 and Lopez to 16.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="PxrvDIa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PxrvDIa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> On the bright side, this kind of freed up Scythe and at this point I could really use another top heel. Lenny Brown was acting like a 'tweener but was still technically a babyface, at least until the corruption of carrying the title could work its magic. He had already wrestled Xavi twice before he won the belt. Patriot and Diaz were both white meat babyfaces. Reaper still needed to work on his stamina. Buck had the US title. I'd kept Scythe apart since he won the COTT World Heavyweight title, but now I needed him more than ever to feud with Lenny over the promotion's top prize. I should be thanking Steve Flash for taking the gold off Scythe, but just because it was right and necessary and convenient didn't also make it pleasant.</p><p> </p><p> Whatever, I still had the Invitational to put together. The Rip Chord Invitational XIV

Saturday, Week 4 January, 2019

Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE

As has become tradition for Piledriver Wrestling's biggest shows, Peter Michaels and Sam Keith come out to welcome fans and run down the card. This time it's different though, because the two men have a big announcement to make: tonight will be their final appearance for Piledriver Wrestling! Keith says the legacy of MAW and Rip Chord is in good hands, which allows him to take some time off. Michaels adds he's proven his point (implying yet again how he was wronged by the Eisens) and this is the last time he will be providing guest colour commentary for a Piledriver show.

Quentrell Garner & Oscar Tufnel vs The Death Squad (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)

The show begins with the promised debut of Piledriver Wrestling's two new roster members; Quentrell Garner is a no-nonesense competitor from Vancouver standing at 6'2" and weighing 259lbs while his fun-loving partner Oscar Tufnel is smaller, lighter and all about disco dancing his way to the ring. The excitement is quickly cut short when the Death Squad's music hits the speakers and the former Piledriver Tag Team champions come out with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar. Tufnel starts the match against Wolfe and shows he's more than just a comedy act by pulling off some slick moves before retreating to safety with a tag to his partner. Garner tangles up with Wolfe and indeed he displays a solid mix of brawling and technial skills that pushes Wolfe harder than he may have expected. Once Annihilus gets tagged in though, Garner struggles to fight against the super heavyweight's sheer power and after taking some serious punishment, tags in an unwilling Tufnel. The discomaniac looks legitimately terrified by the Finnish monster but there's no escape for him and as soon as he finds himself in the dreaded Choke Grip, he taps out like crazy.

Winners: The Death Squad, by submission

Masked Patriot vs Xavi Ferrera

The Rip Chord Invitational matches kick off with a showdown between former Piledriver champion Masked Patriot and the brash Xavi Ferrera. This isn't just a tournament match between two top competitors though; as the announcing team reminds everyone, Ferrera almost made it to a one on one match against Patriot for the title before the arrival of Lenny Brown, so this here is his chance to prove he can beat Patriot in a singles match if given the opportunity. The action is good and Ferrera really takes the fight to his opponent, but once he goes for a German Suplex, Patriot pulls off a standing switch and delivers the Patriot Slam for the pin.

Winner: Masked Patriot, by pinfall

Riley McManus vs Scythe

This is a very unlike-McManus match, as he puts his usual technical skill aside in favor of some very oldschool brawling. Scythe has no problem in a fist fight and the two men throw down, until McManus shoots for the former COTT World Heavyweight champion's legs. Taking him down is no small feat and it turns out to be a fatal error on the part of McManus, one he pays for dearly when Scythe showcases his freakish power by picking him upside down to hit the Underworld Spike piledriver for the pin.

Winner: Scythe, by pinfall

Logan Diaz vs Spencer Spade

This is the first time Diaz and Spade lock horns in the same ring, but it feels like they've been feuding for ages; each man really feeds off the other's energy and the match becomes instantly electric, with Diaz pulling off some of his famous uncle's signature moves in PGHW to further emphasize the clash of his style with Spade's sports entertainment one. True to his monicker as "The Supreme Entertainer", Spade even scores the victory in shady sports entertainment fashion, when he "accidentaly" connects with the referee just long enough to produce a brass knuckle and knock out Diaz with it for the pin.

Winner: Spencer Spade, by pinfall after using a foreign object

El Héroe Mexicano vs Lenny Brown

Both men champions in their own right and having defeated current or former champions to get here, this is a surprisingly high profile match one would expect to get in the later stages of the tournament. Héroe brings the signature lucha libre style to Piledriver Wrestling, a promotion where aerial moves aren't that common and so Brown can't quite deal with them until he's able to take Héroe to the mat. Héroe shows he can also brawl and tangle, but Brown's ever-dangerous Star Treatment is enough to seal the deal even against the OLLIE champion.

Winner: Lenny Brown, by pinfall

Before the Rip Chord Invitational semi finals can begin, the Piledriver Women's champion "Ice Cold" Claire Winters hits the ring. Looking nothing like her monicker, Winters demands that "Playboy" Jake Sawyer comes out and apologizes to her in front of everyone for marring her big title match against Tracy Brendon. Sawyer does indeed come out and he's accompanied by "Devious" Dee Daniels. After a heated back and forth exchange on the mic, Saywer says he made Winters into a champion and she'd be nothing without his Sports Services having her back.

With the argument keeping her attention, Winters never notices the 6ft 200pounder that gets in the ring behind her until she gets hit from behind with a decapitating lariat. Winters falls to the mat and Sawyer exclaims "meet your replacement!" before the trio put the boots to Winters, completing her expulsion from Sawyer Sports Services and subsequent face turn.

Masked Patriot vs Scythe

A throwback match to the time that Patriot struggled to defeat Scythe for the Piledriver Championship, this one's pretty personal thanks to Scythe and Reaper's continued assaults on Patriot. After the first few minutes of the match, a crack appears in the armor of the beast when Scythe starts to mis-time his moves, the toll of wresting McManus earlier returning to haunt him. Seeing his chance but unable to lift the big man for the Patriot Slam, Masked Patriot ducks and weaves to get closer until he manages to grab Scythe in a guillotine choke. The big man goes down to one knee, slowly, as drama escalates and finally passes out.

Winner: Masked Patriot, by stoppage

Rushing to the aid of his ally as best as his massive frame allows, Reaper takes to the ring and looks to beat down a beaten Patriot, who defiantly raises his fists in anticipation of the inevitable clash when all of a sudden, Miss Atlantic Wrestling charges down to pull Reaper's leg and knock him down to apply a Boston Crab. While unable to maintain the hold for long, she still manages to put the breaks on the assault before Reaper can get to the ring and with the big man kicking her away off him but unable to get back on his feet, Patriot helps Miss Atlantic Wrestling up and they return backstage.

Lenny Brown vs Spencer Spade

Another champion versus champion match for Brown, this time against the reigning NYCW champ. Spade's heelish antics are easily countered by Brown, a man well acquainted with the Supreme Entertainer during their time together in RIPW. Between moves, it feels like Spade has finally been outsmarted and outwrestled, until he manages to get Brown in a small package and steal the win to advance to the final.

Winner: Spencer Spade, by pinfall after a schoolboy roll up

Piledriver United States title match

Buck Winchester © vs Jebediah (with Lisa Bowen)

Providing fans and wrestlers with a breather before the big main event final of the Rip Chord Invitational, this match sees Buck Winchester defend the Piledriver US title after he was eliminated from the tournament. His challenger is the big amish brawler Jebediah, who seems to be back on the rise after accepting the services of Lisa Bowen as his manager. The match itself is everything fans would expect from two rugged, southern style brawlers: no nonesense, no quarter, no intricate moves, just two men out to rough each other up. For nearly fifteen minutes, the two men unleash hell on each other, to the point where they both get bloodied but still continue, such is their desire to be champion. It looks like a herculean task when Winchester tries to hit the Texas Backbreaker on his 300lb opponent but once Jebediah's feet leave the canvas, even if only for a quarter of an inch, it looks like it's going to happen. Bowen gets in Winchester's face screaming and manages to throw him off the hook, at least long enough for Jebediah to reverse into a neckbreaker and drag his opponent to the corner in order to deliver the Sundown Splash for the pin.

Winner: Jebediah, by pinfall after Lisa Bowen interfered

Masked Patriot vs Spencer Spade

The match is off to a slow start and understandably so. Not only have both men already wrestled two more matches earlier tonight, the pace also allows the announcers to point out and the wrestlers to showcase how different their paths to the final have been. Spade took every shortcut he could, meaning he's pretty fresh compared to Patriot who paid a heavy price wrestling Ferrera and Scythe. As such, Spade is easily in control of the match and wastes no chance to mock his opponent, even if sometimes that allows Patriot to recover or even fight back. It is futile every time though, as Spade finds a way to regain control. What he can't seem to find a way for though is how to keep Masked Patriot down. Whether it's a kick out or barely getting a shoulder up, Patriot tenaciously keeps himself in the fight, further and further frustrating Spade until he exposes himself badly enough to get hit with a Patriot Slam for the big pin.

Winner: Masked Patriot, by pinfall
