"WHAT IS GREAT LEADER LEE OF WRIGHTS CONCERNED ABOUT?"

lh2JDXB.jpgtfOP87H.jpg

I was hoping my usual wackiness might raise Lee's spirit as I burst into the Rainbow Bar & Grill, but I was wrong. He simply shifted his gaze towards me, his eyes sullen from the apparent lack of sleep. For a split second, I wondered if the sight of me even registered with his brain.

"MAN-SERVANT!

FISHBURGER DELUXE WITH FRIES AND A SULTAN SIZE CANDIED PETROLEUM!"

Even the waiters were used to my antics by this point. A year and a half running shows here, plus times like these when I'd meet Lee for business, they too had learned to read between the lines of my behavior.

"Might wanna ease down on the junk food, man. You look like shit" he finally spoke.

"THANK YOU! SO DO YOU!"

It was too good a set-up to bypass, even though Lee was right. I'd piled on the pounds and crossed well into obesity. Food was my comfort. My stress relief. My final vice and pleasure. Didn't smoke or do drugs. The gimmick prevented me from drinking and getting laid just wasn't happening for a man like me unless I'd pay for it. And even if I was willing to, I was already too balls deep in debt to be able.

"PSW just got bought out" Lee finally dropped the bomb. "If I know the Eisens, they're not interested in hardcore or DAVE nostalgia, just buying out competition." He took a quick sip from his beer. "As if those guys could ever threaten SWF!"

A bored waitress landed my order in front of me on the table and walked away. Couldn't help but think that I'd have to take up a soul crushing job like that to make ends meet if the company folded.

"No one is safe" Lee carried on his monologue as I took a big bite out of my fish burger. "AAA is in debt, so is MAW. Folks are already guessing who's next and we're the safest bet. We're the smallest of the three, our style and talent is the one most similar to what SWF's putting out. We got a history of training some of their biggest stars." Lee paused, probably wondering if I was following his train of thought. It was awkward, so I simply stared back as I sucked on my straw, gulping cola to wash down the burger. "Selling the company, I can handle. It's been a fun ride. What I can't do is work for the Eisens. Train folks at the dojo so they can move on to Providence and maybe SWF. I'd rather retire from the business altogether."

I wanted to tell him that wouldn't happen, but we both knew it was a lie. That things would get better if we'd grow big enough to join the Confederation of the Territories, but that too was a lie. COTT didn't pool money and its founding promotion was already in major debt. I had no words of comfort to offer, just my ideas for next month's show. All I could do was look forward, hope for the best and keep grinding on.

No way, no how. Riley gets a big win here to cement himself as champion. You don't want to put your eggs in Scythe's basket and then have him signed right from you. I know from personal experience.

Seems like it's time for Flame to get that win back.

Two big monsters on one side? I'll take the two big monsters, even if it means I have to vote against the Glorious one.

Jules Knight, The Texas Hangman & "The Monster" Annihilus (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Smooth starts the match by taking a beating from the Hangman, but survives the blows to take advantage of a rookie mistake and turn things round as he puts the big youngster through various submission holds. Hangman powers out to tag in Knight, whose technical excellence makes for a nice back and forth with Smooth. An impatient Ferrera blind tags himself in and picks up the pace from the slow grapplefest to a more spectacular bout, until Annihilus gets the tag, destroying the former champion with big moves. In a final burst of vigor, Ferrera manages to give the hot tag to the biggest member of his team and Diaz enters the fray by hitting a huge spear on Annihilus. Worried about his man, the Sheik orders Annihilus to tag someone else in; that someone is Texas Hangman and while his size makes for an interesting exchange of blows, he soon finds himself trapped in a Boston Crab by Diaz, the pain causing him to tap out too soon before his teammates can interfere to break it up.</p><p>

After the match, Annihilus turns on Knight, chokeslamming him off the apron before he gets in the ring to put the boot to Texas Hangman, decimating both his teammates after their loss.</p><p>

Olivia "Rough" Diamond & Marie Punnen vs "Ice Cold" Claire Winters & "AAA's own" Selina Svelte (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Punnen is given a chance to show what she's about as she starts the match against Winters. Both ladies have an actual martial arts background which adds a distinct MMA aura of legitimacy to the match, though Punnen's wide array of kicks quickly makes her predictable to the more well-rounded Winters. Taken down once a kick is blocked into a leg whip, Punnen ends up on the heels' corner with the ring cut off. Sawyer's team beat down the rookie for a while, but once Svelte slaps on the Prawn Armlock, Diamond rushes into the ring to break it up. The subsequent arguement with the ref gives Punnen just enough time to recover and crawl towards her corner, tagging in Diamond once she's back there. Svelte is in no rush to lock horns and circles the ring, setting up her trap: backed against the babyface team corner, Svelte lures Diamond in for a hit she dodges; the slap connects with Punnen by accident and regarding it a proper tag, Svelte tosses Diamond out of the ring to pull Punnen into the ring, where she once more applies the Prawn Armlock, this time getting the tap out.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: "Ice Cold" Claire Winters & "AAA's own" Selina Svelte, by submission</strong></p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Perhaps looking to prevent another post match beatdown by Sawyer Sports Services, "Red Hot" Laura Flame rushes to the ring once the match is over, protecting Diamond forcing the heels to back off from Punnen. With the two sides safely separated, Flame gets on the mic to cut a promo on Tamara McFly and their co-main event match tonight.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<img alt="UI2y5np.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/UI2y5np.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Garry the Entertainer gets in the ring next to deliver a comedy promo, tackling Cip Conduit's recent losing streak and their subsequent social media war in a discussion with his simian hand puppet, Charles.</p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Cip Conduit vs Garry the Entertainer</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

First singles match of the night and it's a pretty odd clash between the rough and tumble brawler Conduit and the comedy wrestler that is Garry the Entertainer. Somewhat emphasizing the characters over actual wrestling, the match is decent but nothing to write home about and finally marks the end of Conduit's losing streak once he catches his opponent with a Running Big Boot for the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Cip Conduit, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="7nXiDsK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7nXiDsK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

"Red Hot" Laura Flame vs "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

As if to highlight the importance of this match, Tamara McFly debuts her flashy new ring gear and the start of the match itself is pretty slow, letting tension build and announcers recap the feud between the two women: McFly was the one to dethrone Flame a Piledriver Womens champion, then winning both subsequent title rematches. This time the title may not be on the line, but for Flame, it's personal. She needs to win this. She needs to prove a point and to stay ahead in the race for a title shot. No strangers to each other by this point, the two ladies carry out a thrilling match, a chess game of tactics as each tries to counter, surprise and out-smart the other. McFly seems to have the edge thanks to her counter-wrestling abilities, but a lucky opening is all the tenacious Flame needs to connect with a Flame Fire Kick and score the pinfall to redeem herself and finally beat McFly.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "Red Hot" Laura Flame, by pinfall</strong></p><p>

<img alt="87E3trK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/87E3trK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="SJYcxhu.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SJYcxhu.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Riley McManus makes his entrance next, carrying the Piledriver title on his shoulder. He gets in the ring and cuts a promo on Scythe, saying he may be big and scary, but this isn't Rhode Island; this is Piledriver wrestling and he has already faced "The Monster" Annihilus on his way to claiming this title, so he isn't afraid to go one on one with the reaper tonight.</p><p>

<img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="pmHS2Ce.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pmHS2Ce.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Lights go down as soon as McManus is finished and Scythe makes his menacing entrance.</p><p>

<strong>Piledriver title match</strong></p><p><strong>

Riley McManus © vs "The Master of the Chokeslam" Scythe</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

McManus is all business as he tangles up with his challenger, but for all his technical prowess, it quickly becomes apparent that Scythe is nothing like Annihilus; the big man has more than just power going on for him. After the opening attacks from the champion, Scythe puts the breaks and makes an instant comeback to take control of the match, displaying his ability to be both creative and pretty athletic for what would usually be expected from a man his size. McManus is forced to play defense and the match quickly becomes a battle for survival instead of victory. It feels as if it's just a matter of time before the title changes hands or at least the ref forces a stoppage to prevent serious damage to the defending champion, until...</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="3gQC2Ib.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3gQC2Ib.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

..."The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera runs down to the ring, putting himself between the two contestants. From his body language, it looks like Ferrera is out to protect McManus from further harm, but he isn't shy to do so in a pretty aggressive manner once Scythe shoves him aside; Ferrera clips the big man's knee from behind with an (ironically) scything kick, then pops up into a dropkick aimed straight at Scythe's head. Having created some space, Ferrera rolls a semi-unconscious McManus out of the ring and helps him to the back as the bell is rung to announce Scythe as the winner via DQ, with the title thus staying around the waist of Riley McManus</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "The Master of the Chokeslam" Scythe, by disqualification</strong></p><p><strong>

<p>I walked into the Rainbow Bar & Grill expecting Lee to tell me about ACPW going bankrupt, as if I didn't already know. The place was starting to get busy with all sorts of people sitting around for their seafood-based platter of choice, but I walked straight to our usual table like a migratory bird on autopilot. Whether because of our shows bringing in new customers or my expanding gut, moving around this place was becoming a challenge.</p><p> </p><p> "Hey, uhm, Sheik? I'd like to introduce you to our newest graduate, Nicole Pyle"</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="AdZKSls.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AdZKSls.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> She stood up to her full 5'7" height to offer me a handshake, tall and super skinny like an somewhat anorexic version of a Talia Quinzel. The faded pink streaks of her hair were a nice match to her fuchsia top. This wasn't some workout jumpsuit or ring gear, this was her in casual everyday clothing. Given her fashion sense, it made sense she had enrolled for Lee's classes.</p><p> </p><p> "Nicole's my star pupil. I know high flying isn't really our thing, but it's what most women do elsewhere and I think she can move on to big things."</p><p> </p><p> I raised a skeptical Sheik eyebrow at Lee's enthusiasm. Was this woman as good as he claimed, or was he blinded by something else in her? And if so, was there something more than a master-apprentice relationship going on here?</p><p> </p><p> "Nice to meet you" she finally spoke. There was a certain southern drawl to her accent, but I couldn't quite link it to some specific area.</p><p> </p><p> "Nicole's from Mississippi" Lee jumped in to answer the obvious question I had yet to ask "and Pyle's her actual last name. So we thought it would be fun to call her finisher the Pyle-Driver." His enthusiasm was unbearable. The big men need the win to keep their menacing aura, I could see the other team winning by DQ though. Maybe Xavi betrays Riley to help keep Riley strong</p><p> </p><p>

Womens Piledriver title match</p><p>

"<strong>The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel</strong> © vs "Red Hot" Laura Flame</p><p>

<strong>You have done a real good job balancing the women’s division in your shows and keeping them relevant and entertaining. These are 2 of the big reasons why and I’m surprised Talia isn’t with another company. I think her time is probably running short, but I’ll stick with the champ. </strong></p><p> </p><p>

Co-Main Event</p><p>

Tag Team clash</p><p>

Riley McManus & "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera vs "<strong>The Master of the Chokeslam" Scythe & "The Monster" Annihilus</strong></p><p><strong>

As long as the brutes can stay on the same page, they win</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Texas Deathmatch</p><p>

"The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester vs "<strong><strong>The Outlaw" Wes Revell</strong></strong></p><p>

<strong>Hmm it’s not loser leave, so that gives the Outlaw a chance. Heels generally find a way to win a match like this</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Piledriver Wrestling School Graduates Triple Threat match</p><p>

Cip Conduit vs Jules Knight vs "<strong>Killer" Carl Bernard</strong></p><p>

<strong>Let’s see Kip is a little better than Knight, so is this new grad something special. The Lee was gushing about Pyle makes me think that “the killer” is so we will give the rookie the shocking win</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Opening Womens 3 vs 3 match</p><p>

Olivia "Rough" Diamond, Marie Punnen & Nicole Pyle vs <strong>Sawyer Sports Services ("No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly, "AAA's own" Selina Svelte & "Ice Cold" Claire Winters)</strong></p><p><strong>

We will see if Pyle is the real deal, but in this one with her partners being outclassed, the heels prevail</strong></p>

Talia Quinzel comes down to the ring with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer. She takes a microphone and starts talking to the crowd about tonight's main event, her title defense against "Red Hot" Laura Flame. Eventually, she gets interrupted by her challenger who responds to her trash talk. They have a big argument, going back and forth on the microphone, before retreating to prepare for their scheduled match.</p><p>

Nicole Pyle starts the match off for her team and pulls off a few of her moves in a showcase opener, getting a basic reaction before the heels capitalize on her inexperience to turn things around. A lucky escape and tag to Marie Punnen isn't making things any better; after a hard hitting exchange of blows with fellow martial artist Claire Winters, Punnen falls to the veteran McFly. Once again, the heels take turns wearing down the rookie, before a surprise tag brings Diamond into the match for a DDT out of nowhere that floors the former champion for the pin.</p><p>

<strong>Cip Conduit vs Jules Knight vs "Killer" Carl Bernard</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Piledriver School's latest graduate is a big heavyweight who towers over both his opponents. "Killer" Carl Bernard has the size and the menacing looks, but his actual wrestling skills are still somewhat rough around the edges so while he starts off with a good brawl against his two opponents and then specialist Cip Conduit, when Knight makes a comeback to wrestle him to the mat, Bernard seems to be having a rough time. Despite wearing the big man down, Knight is denied the win when Conduit connects with a vicious soccer kick to the head before stealing the pin for himself with some extra leverage from the ropes just to be sure.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Cip Conduit, by pinfall after illegally using the ropes for leverage</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="7nXiDsK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7nXiDsK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Texas Deathmatch</strong></p><p><strong>

"The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester vs "The Outlaw" Wes Revell</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Given how the two cowboys' initial face-off was one hell of a rough brawl, the Texas Deathmatch stipulation turns things to eleven and pulls out all the stops to allow them for a chance to one-up their previous bout. Not shy to be ultra stiff to each other, the two men seem to legitimately hate each other and at times, they seem to be taking a few liberties. The tension makes for a smashmouth brawl, but given the fact that Revell blows more than his fair share of spots, it does not end up being better than the previous matchup and Winchester wraps it up with a clean big win.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester, by ten count pinfall</strong></p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Sheik Ali Al-Avatar is hyping his team for the next match against McManus and Ferrara, when Scythe steps in to clarify he's not "in the Sheik's team" or any team, for that matter.</p><p>

Riley McManus & "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera vs Scythe & "The Monster" Annihilus (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

McManus and Annihilus start the match for each team, revisiting their series of matches throughout 2016. Ferrera tags himself in to take a few quick shots too, but once Scythe gets the tag, the Athlete retreats to tag Riley back in again. Picking up where last month's main event left off, McManus and Scythe trade blows, with the big man getting the best of the exchange. McManus is backed against a corner and as soon as he gets a break from the pummeling, he goes for the tag... but Ferrera pulls his hand away! In a shocking moment, the former champion hops off the apron and retreats backstage, leaving McManus alone against the two monsters in a battle he can't hope to win. Giving it his all, McManus buys himself a few more desparate minutes but he's only delaying the inevitable until Annihilus puts him in the Choke Grip, setting up his teammate's Underworld Spike finisher.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Scythe & "The Monster" Annihilus, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

Piledriver Women's title match</strong></p><p><strong>

"Red Hot" Laura Flame vs "The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel © (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Quinzel is all attitude but quickly comes down to earth hard when the focused, no nonesense Flame comes out of the gates gunning hard. The start of the match sees the challenger in control, until Sawyer gets in her face to provide the distraction that allows Quinzel to turn the tide of the match. The defending champion seems to be targeting Flame's lower back with kicks and submission holds in an attempt to soften her up for one of her many backbreaker variations, including her Spinal Trauma finisher, but a lucky block leads to a reversal and Flame's back on the offensive again until a front choke attempt is countered into a spinebuster. Quinzel presses her advantage looking to do more damage, a reckless approach that allows Flame to slap on an armbar. Sawyer is there to put his client's leg on the ropes for a break and his interfering leads to Flame losing her cool. Sawyer takes a Flame Fire Kick that sends him flying off the apron, much to the fans' delight, but once the challenger turns around to continue the match, Quinzel had been lying in wait and grabs her for the Spinal Trauma to get the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel, by pinfall after Playboy Jake Sawyer interfered</strong></p><p><strong>

<p>I walked out of the Raibow Bar & Grill, lighting a smoke as soon as the warm night air hit me in the face. Camel was my brand of choice, not because I liked those over the competition, it just felt right for the Sheik gimmick. Not that I was a regular smoker anyway, but since retiring from in-ring action and with all the stress of running a promotion headed towards bankruptcy, I couldn't be arsed to bother with my own health much more these days. There were times I needed a crutch and this was one of them. Lee's protege had been a flop in the opener and Bernard was roughly as good as Annihilus in his own debut match. It had taken over a year and a half for the dojo to pump out <em>these</em> prospects?</p><p> </p><p> I took in a long drag, felt the smoke burn my lungs. I let it out in a long exhale, almost a sigh, as my brain got all cloudy. To be fair, those were 18 year old rookies fresh out of the dojo and our style didn't really help with Pyle's high flying moveset. Still, I couldn't see much potential in either of them. Just a couple of bodies I'd keep around for the real stars to beat. At least I now had a steady roster and wouldn't have to bring in jobbers on short term deals. </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46150" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</strong></p><p><strong> Deadly Game 2017</strong></p><p> Saturday, Week 4 September, 2017</p><p> Live from the Rainbow Bar & Grill, FL</p><p> Free shrimp to anyone attending!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Piledriver title match</span></p><p> Riley McManus © vs "The Master of the Chokeslam" Scythe</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Loser Leaves Town match</span></p><p> "The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester vs "The Outlaw" Wes Revell</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Special Tag Team match</strong></p><p> Austin "Easy Money" Smooth & "Glorious" Logan Diaz vs "The Monster" Annihilus & "Killer" Carl Bernard</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Eight Woman Opening Tag match</strong></p><p> "Red Hot" Laura Flame, Olivia "Rough" Diamond, Marie Punnen & Nicole Pyle vs Sawyer Sports Services ("The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel, "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly, "AAA's own" Selina Svelte & "Ice Cold" Claire Winters)</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

<p>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</p><p>

Deadly Game 2017</p><p>

Saturday, Week 4 September, 2017</p><p>

Live from the Rainbow Bar & Grill, FL</p><p>

Free shrimp to anyone attending!</p><p> </p><p>

Main Event</p><p>

Piledriver title match</p><p>

<strong>Riley McManus © </strong>vs "The Master of the Chokeslam" Scythe</p><p>

Screwy finish the first time, heels win the tag, now Riley gets the clean win to retain so that you're not put in a position where Scythe is poached and you're left up the creek.</p><p> </p><p>

Co-Main Event</p><p>

Loser Leaves Town match</p><p>

<strong>"The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester</strong> vs "The Outlaw" Wes Revell</p><p>

I bet Wes has gotten picked up again by IPW or by GSW so he will be riding off into the sunset.</p><p> </p><p>

Special Tag Team match</p><p>

<strong>Austin "Easy Money" Smooth & "Glorious" Logan Diaz </strong>vs "The Monster" Annihilus & "Killer" Carl Bernard</p><p>

Bernard can take the fall in this match and Diaz/Smooth can get a much needed win.</p><p> </p><p>

Eight Woman Opening Tag match</p><p>

<strong>"Red Hot" Laura Flame, Olivia "Rough" Diamond, Marie Punnen & Nicole Pyle</strong> vs Sawyer Sports Services ("The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel, "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly, "AAA's own" Selina Svelte & "Ice Cold" Claire Winters)</p><p> </p><p>

A win here sets up Diamond for a title shot at the next show and gets Punnen and Pyle in the mix as well -- though I would love for S.S.S. to win, it just makes sense (to me) for them to lose to set up future challengers.</p>

"The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel, "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly, "AAA's own" Selina Svelte & "Ice Cold" Claire Winters (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)

The opening bout features all eight women currently employed by Piledriver Wrestling as Sawyer Sports Services goes up against the babyface team of Flame, Diamond, Punnen and Pyle. Once everyone's hit a move or two to get the crowd going, the match quickly dissolves into a brawl as referee Alvin Lavin loses control of who's legal and in the chaos, Winter rolls up Pyle for the pin.

Winners: "The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel, "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly, "AAA's own" Selina Svelte & "Ice Cold" Claire Winters, by pinfall with a roll up.

Backstage, Riley McManus enters the office of Lee Wright and points out the importance of tonight's main event having a clean finish. After some back and forth talking, Lee Wright seems convinced and agrees to ban Xavi Ferrera (or anyone else for that matter) from ringside, announcing that any outside interference will result in the worker getting fired on the spot.

Austin "Easy Money" Smooth & "Glorious" Logan Diaz vs "Killer" Carl Bernard & "The Monster" Annihilus (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar)

Big men Diaz and Annihilus kick off the match with a test of strength and although it's an uphill battle for Diaz, he stays in it commendably long before losing. Annihilus hits him with a few big moves until Diaz sweeps the leg to have him fall back on Smooth's knee in an improvised double team backbreaker. Apparently the move hits a nerve or something and the Finnish super heavyweight is forced to retreat. Bernard and Smooth get tagged in, the rookie outmuscling Smooth before the more experienced grappler is able to reverse and gain control of the match. After wearing down Bernard a bit, Smooth tags in Diaz who slides his way into a sleeper hold to choke out the school' latest graduate and win the match.

Winners: Austin "Easy Money" Smooth & "Glorious" Logan Diaz, by stoppage

Roaring in both pain and anger, Annihilus storms the ring to tackle Diaz with a spear. Smooth comes in for the rescue, only to get caught from a distance in a Choke Grip that turns into a chokeslam on top of the fallen Diaz as the Sheik cheers him on.

Scythe is displayed in some sort of dark cathedral setting full of candles. The big man addresses the camera to cut a promo on Riley McManus, saying no one will save him from his wrath tonight.

Loser Leaves Town match

"The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester vs "The Outlaw" Wes Revell

Both men have a victory each over the other, but Winchester enters this match as the favorite; Revell's win was tainted, whereas Winchester got his in a Texas Deathmatch, plus Loser Leaves Town seems to be his signature stipulation by now. Once again their matchup delivers a no-frills barroom brawl and the stakes only make it more intense. No strangers to each other by this point, the two cowboys deliver a solid bout that lives up to their original face off, with Winchester delivering the killing blow via his Neckbreaker finisher to score the pin and oust the Outlaw.

Winner: "The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester, by pinfall

ozLd3Bm.jpg

uN4bdE9.jpg

Brandishing a new look in a singlet and having replaced his mirror shades with his hurdling medals, "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera cuts a promo to voice his frustration at how he, the first ever and longest reigning Piledriver champion has been treated since losing the title. Ferrera brings up his booking against "lesser" opponents, never getting a title rematch against Rockin' Ryan Turner, not facing McManus one on one for the gold and not even being thanked from saving him and his championship at Brain Trauma two months ago, which is why he finally snapped and left him on his own against Scythe and Annihilus last month. Ferrera says playing by the rules got him nowhere, so from now on it's no more mr. nice guy for him.

Piledriver title match

Riley McManus © vs Scythe

Free to focus entirely on their match, the two men lock up in a battle that goes back and forth again and again. By this point both champion and challenger are familiar with each other, leading to a lot of dodged or reversed moves in a hotly contested bout. Scythe seems to be focused on big power moves while McManus' strategy is to take away his opponent's vertical base and wear him down with submission holds. Tension builds and the drama reaches a climax as neither man seems willing to give way, but sixteen minutes into the main event Scythe finally manages to intercept Riley's string of offensive moves, his combobreaker leading into a huge chokeslam that lays out McManus for the pin.

Winner: Scythe

Scythe wins the PDW Championship title

The show begins with a pre-recorded message from former Piledriver champion. McManus pays his respects to Scythe, saying he lost fair and square to a better opponent, but this has only served to motivate him so he can train even harder in order to reclaim the title.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="87E3trK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/87E3trK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Women's Challenger Qualifier match</strong></p><p><strong>

Nicole Pyle vs "Ice Cold" Claire Winters (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Pyle is off to a hot start with her aerial maneuvers, but for all the excitement they bring to a match, they seem to do little damage to her resilient martial artist opponent. Through a combination of calculated kicks to the chest from Winters and the toll her own style takes on her body, Pyle quickly seems to be running out of gas and while pausing to catch her breath, she also catches a Flying Knee Strike to the side of the head that lays her down for the count.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "Ice Cold" Claire Winters, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

Women's Challenger Qualifier match</strong></p><p><strong>

Marie Punnen vs "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The second qualifying match turns up the heat a notch or two and that's not just because of former champion Tamara McFly being in it; apparently the two ladies hit a groove as Punnen's kicks are reversed into big moves from McFly, sometimes though only for Punnen to reverse back again into another kick with her free leg. This back and forth makes up the bulk of the match, until McFly is able to turn such a sequence into the McFly Roll for the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Women's Challenger Qualifier match</strong></p><p><strong>

Olivia "Rough" Diamond vs "AAA's own" Selina Svelte (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Sawyer Sports Services are looking for the clean sweep and it looks like they're going going to get it as Svelte spends most of the match on top of Diamond, keeping her contained on the mat as she's looking for a submission. Diamond has her moments too, but they're always cut short thanks to a technical counter from her opponent who puts the breaks on any momentum she's trying to get going. Still, Diamond gets lucky when she's able to turn one such counter into a roll up, giving her the win in the most underdog fashion possible while sending Sawyer into a tantrum.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Olivia "Rough" Diamond, by pinfall with a fast roll up</strong></p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="uN4bdE9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/uN4bdE9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Brandishing his new ring gear (medals included), "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera comes out to cut a promo on his four way elimination match up next, saying he's going to win it and then beat Scythe to recaim the Piledriver title.</p><p>

<img alt="87E3trK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/87E3trK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Four Way Elimination match</strong></p><p><strong>

Austin "Easy Money" Smooth vs "The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester vs "Glorious" Logan Diaz vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Diaz jumps the bell to assault Winchester, the two men locking horns in a brawl that takes them outside the ring. Given the space, Smooth and Ferrera initiate a grappling contest, trading holds in a show of technical prowess. Both pairs go back and forth but eventually Diaz gets the best of Winchester. Instead of dragging him back into the ring, he comes in to hit both Smooth and Ferrera with a double clothesline, before covering The Athlete for the first elimination of the match. Furious, Ferrera refuses to return backstage and instead hits a backstabber on Diaz to provide Smooth with a chance to lock in the Smooth Hold, putting pressure on the damaged back of Diaz for the submission. It is down to Smooth and Winchester by this point, with the Texan Patriot having recovered to re-enter the ring and brawl with Smooth until he hits his Neckbreaker finisher from out of nowhere for the victory.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: "The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester, by pinfall</strong></p><p>

<img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

While Winchester's music plays and he's announced as the winner and new #1 contender for the Piledriver title, a graphic is shown to hype up his upcoming title match against Scythe.</p><p>

<img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>"Ice Cold" Claire Winters vs Olivia "Rough" Diamond vs "No Gimmick Needed" Tamara McFly</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

An impartial man and consummate professional, "Playboy" Jake Sawyer escorts both Winters and McFly to the ring but takes a seat on the commentary table instead of being on a certain woman's corner. He still cheers for both Winters and McFly on commentary, of course, as the two ladies of Sawyer Sports Services team up to take down Diamond. Their alliance is short-lived though once it's time to make a pin, with each pulling the other off Diamond to break it up before ultimately coming to blows with each other. Their exchange goes back and forth with the veteran McFly coming on top, but only for the recovered Diamond to catch her with a lucky DDT for the pin to earn herself a title match against Quinzel.</p><p>

<p>I sat on my motel bed, back against the cold wall as I took a sip of cheap coffee. Not so much to warm me up but to keep me awake. I had a bunch of contracts nearing expiry to look up and another show to book. We were still losing money, but Wrestlers of Mass Concussion put us in almost half as much as our usual shows. If the banks didn't converge on us before the end of the year, we might even be able to finally grow into something bigger than just a Local Florida-based promotion.</p><p> </p><p> After another sip of coffee, I flipped through the contracts. All our big stars' names there, the people who've stuck with us since the beginnings. Riley... Xavi... Logan... Buck... Austin... Laura... Olivia... Claire... I was going to give everyone a 3 year deal and they'd probably take it, assuming we'd still be around by the end of 2020. There was little sense in arguing over the details by this point.</p><p> </p><p> I put the contracts aside and pulled up my notes for Thanksbeating. We had two big title matches set up already. I was going to do Riley vs Ferrera, pick up where they left off after Xavi left McManus high and dry as part of his heel turn. Had no clue what to do with everyone else though.</p><p> </p><p> My phone sparked to life with a buzz, a notification from the TotalExtremeWrestlingApp I'd installed to keep up with the latest news. Apparently AAA had just announced the signing of our former employee and QAW alumni, Millie the Minx. Of course! I'd bring in a few new faces to fight our usual talent like I used to do back in a day! Hyped up by the spur of inspiration, I grabbed my phone and started texting a few folks. At 2 a.m. Might as well give them an early glimpse of the madman they'd be called in to work for.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46150" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</strong></p><p><strong> Thanksbeating 2017</strong></p><p> Saturday, Week 4 November, 2017</p><p> Live from the Rainbow Bar & Grill, FL</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Piledriver title match</span></p><p> Scythe © vs "The Texan Patriot" Buck Winchester</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-Main Event</strong></p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Piledriver Womens title match</span></p><p> "The Mistress of the Backbreaker" Talia Quinzel © vs Olivia "Rough" Diamond</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grudge match</strong></p><p> Riley McManus vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Women's showcase match</strong></p><p> "Red Hot" Laura Flame vs "The Farmer's Daughter" Ellie May Walton</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening match</strong></p><p> Cip Conduit vs "The West Coast Streetfighter" Carlos Barrera</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>
