Sotatsu Sarumara def. Motoyuki Miyake (9m41s) with a Mounted Arm Lock [66]

- Although Miyake showed heart and could go with Sarumara most of the time, the youngst member of xDREAM couldn't get the job done at the end. Sarumara trapped Miyakes Arm in his Lock and let him tap. Miyake showed respect after the match when he bowed to the veteran.</blockquote>

Stone Yoshikawa wins the WCG Junior Heavyweight Championship (2nd Champion)

OWARI (Azumamaro Kita & Fujio Narahashi) def. The Hurt (Billy Robinson & Nigel Svensson) (15m16s) when Kita used an Octopus Stretch on Robinson [82] (3rd Defense)

- The revanche has been successful! After losing to The Hurt in January at the Anniversary, OWARI finally beat them when Kita stretched Robinson to death. It could have been different when Svensson had Kita in his Arm Lock, which was a flashback to January. After the match the two teams shook hands.</blockquote>

Greg Gauge © def. Hirokichi Yoemon (13m49s) with a Proton Lock [74] (1st Defense)

- Yoemon screwed Gauge's potentially Blockwin when he beats him back at the S-1 Festival. Today Gauge wasn't that cocky like in March, much more concetrated and focussed. The leader of the Rogue Squad defended his belt succesfully with his Proton Lock against a fighting spirit having Hirokichi Yoemon, who was frustrated not winning his first WCG-title.</blockquote>

Razan Okamoto © def. Bunrakuken Torii (23m49s) with a Brainbuster Suplex [79] (5th Defense)

- A match between two former training partners and friends back in BCG. You can feel their friendly rivalry when both competitors want to overbid their respective opponent. Okamoto attacked Torii's arm the whole match to weakened Torii's big Forearm finisher, which was a legit tactic. Torii answered with brutal headbutts to Okamotos forehead, which resulted in a bloody skull.

"Machine Guns" Forearm Smash was to weak, Okamoto kicked out at two. It was then the "Dreamcatcher" who nailed his trademark knee strike and a Brainbuster for an impressive win.

- A little bit of a bummer was the Junior title match at Survivor Battle. The newy crowned champ Stone Yoshikawa underestimated the Rogue Squad challenger Conner Threepwood at the beginning of the match. The former NOTBW tag champ received major damage on his ankle which was Yoshikawas main target. Stone, the crafty vet he is, managed to lock in his Ankle Lock for a submission win.</blockquote>

Morimasa Kato def. Razan Okamoto © (23m46s) with a Choke Sleeper [81]

Morimasa Kato wins the WCG World Heavyweight title.

When Kato and Okamoto clash in the ring, you can expect a brutal encounter. Just like last time they met it was a razorclose decision, but with a surprising end. Okamoto didn't want to make the same mistake as last time when he couldn't connect with a second Knee Strike, so the „Dreamcatcher“ was absolutely careful with that move. However he land with a Lariat to Kato's neck, a first Knee Strike was perfectly nailed and the second one should follow but.. a unknown man rushed into the ring, hits a Front Kick to the running Okamoto and a Single Arm DDT to finally put Razan to the ground. Kato took the opportunity, choked Okamoto to unconsciousness to win his first title.

Announcer Utemaro Nakatoni asked repeatly "Who's that man?" which was answered right away from his partner Ryuzaburo Sugiyama "It's Kada!!" The whole Kenka group celebrated the titlewin from their leader, which revelead Gonnohyoe Kada as their new group member, their new muscle who should perfectly fit to Kenka as a big brawling and striking machine.

All right...

So Stone Yoshikawa was a terrible choice for a 2nd generation champion, ratings wise. Maybe you should have stuck with a divisional ace from the get-go.

Murderer's row in the top three cards. Can't believe Greg Gauge got a 74 out of Tiger Fuyuki, what a stud. That tag team match though, what a pleasant surprise from two teams I keep underestimating or dismissing.

More importantly though... most importantly of all.

MORIMASA KATO HAS CLIMBED TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN PEAKS!

Granted, he did it via interference which had to have knocked down your match rating just a bit, but still. KATO HAS CLIMBED.

Next up, Hitomaru Suzuki to unseat him!

Hey mate, thanks for your continuous feedback:cool:

Yea maybe. I have to say that i was a little bit shocked about that rating tbh, but that's life i guess. I mean i kinda like that not everything i book got a good rating, it's like in real life. Not every promotion does everything right.

Definetly amazing ratings. I kinda thought the Tiger match would bomb, but i was proved wrong i guess. Kita and Narahashi are amazing in that save love it.

I think the ratings will drop when i'm going to convert that save to TEW 2020.

More importantly though... most importantly of all.

To be honest i did not book the interference in the match. The idea of introducing a new member of Kenka came while i was doing the post and formatting it. I think it was a cool idea to play around with Katos long injury at the beginning of the year. Kenka attacked Okamoto one day after he won the belt from Funakoshi and then Kato and Wakabayashi got injured, so i took Shikitei and Shimizu as the first challengers for Razan. So i waited for the perfect time to let Kato finally challenge Razan.

Kato is Razan's kryptonite atm and i kinda like the idea that Okamoto can't beat a no nonsense character atm. And i didn't want Okamotos first title reign that long.

White Canvas Trophy up next!

"16 men will fight for the right to challenge WCG World Champion Morimasa Kato to a future titlematch. The White Canvas Trophy will be held on six days in six different venues to determinate the new challenger in a single elimination tournament.", said WCG president Junnosoku Fukazawa at the press conference.

"All title holders aren't allowed to compete at this year's Trophy. The winner of the 2nd White Canvas Trophy tournament will face the champion Morimasa Kato at Fighting Spirit in Yokohama seven days after the final." Four combatants joined Fukuzawa at this press conference to speak to the present journalists.

RazanOkamoto.pngRazan Okamoto: "It's hard to get the focus done so fast after losing the title, but i'm a fighter and i will get that belt back. Last year i finished as a runnerup, this year i will win the whole competition."

t8x9H4Y.pngYoshinaka Taku: "I love the brackets. I was about to get a clean sweep in the S-1 Festival but then Okamoto stopped me at Night 9. I love that we'll face each other the second time. It will be a good fight, i guarantee."

Hitomaro-Suzuki.pngHitomaro Suzuki: "It's kinda interesting that i couldn't compete at last year's White Canvas Trophy because the current champion attacked me back then and injured me. You can bet that i will work my ass off to win the Trophy and challenge Kato for the big one [World title]."

Bunrakuken-Torii.pngBunrakuken Torii: "Up's and down's for me so far at WCG: S-1 Festival 2016? Second place. White Canvas Trophy? First Round Knockout. Match for the inaugral WCG Intercontinental championship? Lost! S-1 Festival Final? Check. The following title match? Lost. You see my goal is simple, i want to be the best here in WCG, so you got to beat the best first. I'm ready!"

- Yanagita and Miyake went to a short sprint, hitting each other with foreams, knee strikes and headbutts all over the place. Miyake got busted open after a brutal headbutt, which got Yanagita on spaghetti legs. "The Dog Of War" nailed his Yanagita Crush for the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

- The former champ is eliminated! Yoshinaka Taku got revenge after losing to Razan Okamoto during the S-1 Festival. Today "The Lion" was more focussed than "The Dreamcatcher", after hitting a Lariat he followed with his Lion Bomb (fka Full Nelson Bomb) to get his biggest win in WCG yet.</p><p>

- Sarumara is a bad man! The veteran nearly broke Shimizu's arm while attempting his Arm Lock for the win. Both men had some cool counter attacks and Shimizu went for a Brainbuster which caused a nice nearfall. Sarumara finished the fight after he caught Shimizu while he went for a whip-in.</p><p>

8. White Canvas Trophy 2017 ~ 2nd Round: Omezo Shikitei def. Bunrakuken Torii (17m14s) with a STF [81]

- Kenka and xDREAM collided again! It was the first time newly joined member Gonnohyoe Kada had a match at White Canvas and he faced Razan Okamoto, the man he attacked during the Okamoto - Kato title bout. Okamoto was fired up, however Kada perfectly avoided Okamoto most of the time. At the end Kada got the victory for Kenka by pinning Ricky Turner.

- We've got two semifinalists! Yoshinaka Taku pinned veteran dog Kimitada Yanagita after the Lion Bomb, while Omezo Shikitei from Kenka locked in an STF for the tap out. The Niigata crowd didn't see that coming, however they applaud for a great performance from both men. Taku vs. Shikitei will be in Chiba in six days.

- Tetsuji Nishimoto pinned the current Junior Heavyweight champion! Immediatly the xDREAM man challenged Stone Yoshikawa to a titlematch, which Yoshikawa accepted.

- It wasn't a good night for the Rogue Squad. Bulldozer as well as Pavel Vanzycha lost their match against a Hontai member. Sarumara locked in his Arm Lock to tap Smith while Suzuki did the same with Vanzycha. The polish warrior had to tap in the Suzuki Lock screaming in pain. Vanzycha and Suzuki had a great match with several nearfalls at the end of the fight.

8. White Canvas Trophy 2017 ~ Semifinal: Hitomaro Suzuki def. Sotatsu Sarumara (17m32s) with a Suzuki Lock [77]

- We got our final! Kenka's Omezo Shikitei is a dangerous man. After receiving a titleshot at the beginning of the year, which he lost to Okamoto, Shikitei looked razor sharp in the match. He took Taku's head off with a Lariat, the STF followed for the win.

- Shikitei's opponent will be the former WCG Intercontinental Champion Hitomaro Suzuki. "Genius" got trapped in a Arm Lock by Sarumara but thanks to his great ring awarness Suzuki rolled over and countered the move into his Suzuki Lock to win the match. Suzuki and Shikitei will meet in their first ever match against each other, they never faced in any match type before.

NEWS

- Yoshinaka Taku sustained a back injury and is out of action for two months.

Wow. I hadn't realized that in retrospect. What a great shielding of a future main event big deal match!
