SPW: An Effganic Tale

Recommended Posts

A/N: Recently I've fallen in love with the Effganic mod. The idea was just great, and the mod itself is great. Now, for this diary and the mod I've added several pictures into it for generated workers (such as the Thunder-Verse free pictures). I do NOT own any of the pictures that may or may not be featured in this diary.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don Loomis stared out his bedroom window. He never thought that, as a fairly successful businessman, he'd have that feeling of doubt ever again. But today was the big day. He was about to create an industry of new entertainment - well, at least in North America. He already had a few guys ready and raring to go. Saita Kuroki of Japan, Freidrich Herzog of Germany, Daniel Loiselle of Canada, Joe Boone of the US, Sir Anthony Henry from Britain, El Espiritu from down below in Mexico and Levi Andrews, an Australian outbacker. With these elite talents, Loomis felt he could conquer the world.

But at what cost? The wrestlers themselves weren't much of a pain - only $50 per show, but that Jay Lutter... $800 to put on a damned show?! That was a bit much, Loomis thought. Too much, but it was the lowest price he could get out of that stubborn ass former wrestling coach. But he knew what he was doing, at least. They all did.

In any event, Loomis had to think about the future. He decided to open up his new company... no... wrestling promotion - the idea itself was almost tough for him to fathom. A kids pastime becoming an enterprise? How ridiculous, he had thought. Then he went to the local circus to spend time with his wife, and there it was - wrestling. That happened to be where he first met Boone and Loiselle. Two former high school wrestling 'artists' in their own right.

Loomis had to think about the first show. The first match. The first paycheck to these guys. The first. The first. The first! With his ideas, Jay Lutter's managerial skills and Frank Norris - that old kook - Loomis could quite potentially create not only a new industry, but a whole new way to be rich.

And if it failed? Then Loomis would probably die of a heart attack. Failure was not an option. Is not an option, and won't be an option. At least, that's how Loomis thought about it.

Another problem was that Loomis was already 55. Any older and he'll have to retire if necessary. He'll run SPW 'til the day he dies, he thought. He wouldn't let any old guy take over something that is his.

But the lingering question: What is going to happen? Will SPW be as successful as he hopes? The year is 1920, and the US economy is booming following World War 1, and the stock markets are doing great, and there's only going up from here.

Or is there?

1) HokiesFan from the Unofficial Discord server - he gave me the idea to even play as a company within the Effganic world! This diary is all thanks to him, and I hope that [if] he reads it, he enjoys it!

2) The T-Verse Team: For creating pictures that are used in this mod. They are used without permission (I don't know them and they may not even be active), but if it causes unnecessary drama I will remove them from the mod.

3) smw88: He created renders and logos that are free to use for anything, and here's the credit he deserves!

4) King Bison: Some pictures he created for his "TITAN Factory" CV mod are used in this save as free pictures.

5) I effin rule: For creating the original mod in the first place! Without him, this diary wouldn't exist!

He never thought 93 people would show up for the big show, the <em>first</em> ever show. It goes to show that wrestling may just be a topic of interest, and that paying for all of the guys in the back (they all had requested pay raises over the course of the last month leading up to the show, which Loomis complied with. $50 was a little less than they were worth.</p><p> </p><p> Loomis decided to go check up on the men... and when he got back there he wasn't pleased.</p><p> </p><p> "What the hell, Lutter?!" Loomis shouted - the people awaiting a wrestling event almost heard him.</p><p> </p><p> Lutter stumbled around and muttered something incoherently.</p><p> </p><p> "He's goddamned drunk! Drunk! In 1920? That's illegal! I aught to fire ya, Lutter! Why I aught to!" Loomis was fuming. It was a good thing Lutter went over the men's matches with them at least while he was sober, yesterday. Loomis hoped they remembered everything - not that it was much Lutter told them.</p><p> </p><p> <em>-Yesterday- [Friday, Week 3, March 1920]</em></p><p> </p><p> "Alright, men!" Lutter gathered the men around him.</p><p> </p><p> "Here's what we're goin' to do. We're gonna head out there, we're gonna wrestle, and we're going to make the big man some big bucks, right? Right?" </p><p> </p><p> He separated them into pairs based on who they were fighting. Henry V Loiselle, Boone V Herzog & Kuroki and Espiritu V Andrews. </p><p> </p><p> They all "practiced" their matches. They really just grappled around for ten+ minutes until Lutter said they were good to go. Nobody really <em>knew</em> what they were doing, but they knew they were to entertain, at least. And entertain they would. </p><p> </p><p> <em>-Show-</em></p><p> </p><p> Loomis stormed into his office, slamming the door. "That bastard has the nerve to show up drunk? Why I'll show him. <p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Monday, Week 1, April 1920</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Don Loomis decided to take a stroll around his neighborhood. </p><p> </p><p>

While he was walking he thought of what to call his next show and what to do. He realized that his current seven guys weren't going to be interesting forever, so he decided he needed some more talent. Not a lot, but maybe two or four more guys to keep matches and shows diverse..</p><p> </p><p>

"Ergh!" Someone grunted. </p><p> </p><p>

"Ha! I win. Take that, Del!" A second one yelled, chuckling.</p><p> </p><p>

"Screw off, Luis." Del responded. </p><p> </p><p>

Loomis watched as Luis helped Del up off the ground. He only caught the tailend of what ever they were doing but decided they were capable of wrestling. Loomis approached them.</p><p> </p><p>

"May I interest you boys in some work?" Loomis asked. </p><p> </p><p>

"What's up, mister Loomis?" Del asked.</p><p> </p><p>

"How would you fine young men like to work for me? I run a wrestling promotion."</p><p> </p><p>

"Getting paid to wrestle? Absurd!" Luis waved Loomis off a little.</p><p> </p><p>

"How much?" Del asked, intrigued. </p><p> </p><p>

"Well, I can start you off at around $150 per show." Loomis replied. </p><p> </p><p>

"I'm in!" They both said eagerly. </p><p> </p><p>

Loomis left them to there business and walked away, smiling. He got what he had asked for, at least.</p>

Loomis dismissed the men. </p><p> </p><p> Loomis looked around and sighed a sigh of relief as the men left. It all seemed to be working out. Sure, there were a few things he still needed to work out ('kinks' in the machine, you could say), but so far it was all working out greatly, and he was happy. The men were happy, and the people were happy. He hoped that some day he could make SPW his empire, his legacy to leave his children, or his grandchildren or whomever is next of kin. Maybe even one of the guys. Maybe. </p><p> </p><p> Loomis left the 'arena' (a big tent about 150 by 150 feet with a bunch of chairs and a 'ring' in the center). Loomis crafted it himself with the help of some guys he hired.</p>

Boone and Espiritu went at it, delivering brutal-looking blows and stiff kicks until Espiritu locked Boone in a sleeper hold, and the end seemed near. Out of nowhere, Andrews saved Boone from the hold, prying Espiritu off of him and tossing him to the side, all the while beating on him and kicking him. Despite having faced off for the inaugural championship match, each man realized that the other may have changed since two months ago - maybe they each had something up their sleeve? Nonetheless, they collided in the center in what is probably considered the finest chain wrestling seen in wrestling at the time, and eventually Henry took over. Locking in multiple holds and even getting in his deadly rear chinlock for a few minutes, Loiselle eventually slipped out of a hold that would become the Hook Grapevine, before locking in a sleeper hold for several minutes.
