Fantasy Draft: WOTI 6 Discussion/Signup Thread

Looking at the Draft after 10 or so rounds it's easy to say every fed will be strong.

Wsred13 went for an eclectic mix of guys who don't seem to naturally fit together but have enough talent that once the rest of the picks are in should be good.

FellaLibby has a good roster, Misawa seems odd but his skills are so good he should be able to thrive in a fed which seems to be designed to work a very different style to his natural game

Valkyria has gone very much NWO Era WCW which can of course go great

Destiny likes to go young and has very much done that here. They will of course be raided by the AI over time but until that happens will be fun to watch to see who flourishes.

WillyWillyWilly has a fed that feels like it's building towards classic mid 90s WWF crossed with that same Era WCW.

GooseRobb selected he who must not be named. If he selects Invader 1 too then that's an all time great hateable tag team right there. Has a lot of great tag teams already. Good upside but might get raided given its likely lower pop.

Mark has ECW TURBOCHARGED which should be interesting.

.

ZSJ23 has a roster which much like wshred13 doesn't necessarily gel yet but has plenty of intriguing peices so far.

As for me I was away for the first 9 rounds but circumstances mean that going Japanese is the clearest route. I am already going to be unassailable there and the North Americans I have give me a route into that market where I would still be decent in National Battles. It's not what I would have planned but now that it's happening I can see very clearly how to construct my roster to get an end product that should be really interesting to see play out. Basically NJPW trying to do what the WWF did and become a global power. Given the strength of likely resistance to that it should both be fun and a challenge to play.

I think Beer Money would be great to feud with Rated RKO but idk who i want MCMG to feud with yet. I definitely know who my next two picks are tho. I think C Cage and Wolfe could be a good first feud. Not sure where i want Benoit yet though. Just knew i needed some great workers. Maybe against Shamrock?

That's not a big issue as far as I am concerned. You know how pedantic the AI can be about those things but I'm always happy for anyone to play the game how they want. Heck I once played a game with Daryl as my owner and he's a stuffed cat.

Lol - Well I will tell you things some of them I am sure you already know.

Well not anything for the draft that isn't obvious - you need a ref, an Announcer, Colour, Road Agent and someone in your fed needs Owner/Booker skills (I got Giant Baba for that who is in the 90's skill wise for both).

Post Draft I can give you some easy tips

First thing do a series of searches in People for the following with the Unemployed criteria and relatively high ratings (first Excellent, then Great then Good except Pop which goes Icon, Huge Star, Star)

Popularity in the Region You Are based in

Ring Work

Star Quality

If you are using women or T&A High - Sex Appeal

Psychology

Pop in any Region you are trying to build in but are weak currently

Any type of Skill that your fed might need more of (If you are a brawling style fed you might want that skillset for instance)

The AI will try to fill up rosters if it thinks they are under so if their are bargains that have fallen through the cracks which you can snap up relatively cheaply to make your fed better the right time to make offers is that first day. Hence working out who is available straight away. When you get each result you can shortlist anyone who comes up that you are interested in and even if you don't want to buy them straight away you will know if another fed makes an offer to them and if you don't want that fed to get them you can make a higher offer. Even if you only want to drive their price up you can just match the offer and as long it's not the top of their range the AI will normally make better bids.

If you have the money for a dev fed and you want that you can also search for people under whatever age you decide and find people you want to develop. If you are dead keen on them and don't want to worry about them to be poached and are Cult or above you can offer long term dev deals to young Unemployed people and secure your future. If the system tells you they aren't keen to sign a dev deal because they don't think they will improve you can still sign them on a written deal and send them down but they are normally right and are pretty maxed out. Always make sure to make the lowest acceptable offer to those people - no use overpaying for people who may never end up being major players for your fed. With dev feds always make sure to set them as Dev rather than Child unless you want the AI to hunch a whole bunch of useless staff members and people to clog up the rings and take away ring time from your dev guys. One of two higher psych vets with good personalities are always helpful in dev though because they do make a difference. People improve faster in DEV than in indies.

Try to avoid bringing people up from Dev unless they are pretty much fully developed - you can keep changing what they are working off if they aren't maxed until they are. One way of working dev is when people ask to be called up you can bring them up and either pay them a Bonus to keep them happy before sending them back down (they will keep asking every month) or brign them up for a month or two in a lower tier role and once they get to around the 40's send them back down (make sure they are Happy before you do with bonuses if necessary). They will then go down and unless they are Driven they will normally happily go back to DEV and slot into a good spot in the card and not ask to be brought up or only rarely. Driven people will always ask to come up and will be unhappy when they aren't brought up. Never send someone down who believes they should be on the Main Roster because they just whine in your inbox and become unhappy quick. It's a pain.

People with good personalities are a great help - it just makes the game easier to play over any time.

Same goes for Mentors & Protegees that can really up a younger workers skills relatively quickly.

Make sure you check your Creative Meeting for things like decline - it's no use getting in a bidding war for one of your guys if they are too far into decline unless they have a clear out of ring role that you need them for.

Same goes when bidding for people if they indicate they don't want to work all shows that means either they are in decline or their body is super beat up. You don't want to offer those people long term in ring contracts because their current skills are likely to lessen pretty dramatically over time.

Money fixes a lot of problems -if people are unhappy Bonuses can change that. Given the way these feds are they are likely to be Money spinners so if anyone shows any unhappiness then spending some cash to fix the problem is the easy way out.

I always Comprehensively Drug Test people who I know have issues and try to get them clean because it can give them Loyalty to you and Hard Drug issues can kill you. I'm very much Mr Clean (30 Years in the Police) will do that to you) but in game those lifestyle things can derail you pretty bad.

If simmering Tension occurs it's best to try to meddle (if you have the skills) to get rid of that. Once relationships gets to Strong Dislike and Hatred you inevitably end up with problems so it's best to try to kill that before it grows. Nothing splits a Roster faster than two Social people feuding.

So halfway through how are things shaping up now

wshred13 - I still cant see a pattern forming there's good talent there but it's yet to coalesce into something clear vision wise.

FellaLibby - I kind of like the mix . Andre if used sparingly fits well with Taker & Kane. Rey, Jushin, Tiger Mask all fit together well. Angle, Misawa Owen could mesh well.

Valkyria - It's a WCW flavoured product which is fine because some of those guys are going to be fun to play around with.

Destiny - Anyone who has been in drafts with Destiny knows the deal - it's youth movements all the way.

WillyWillyWilly - 90's style WWE/WCW mix. Who doesn't want a Scott Steiner v Chyna feud with the crazy turned up to 11.

GooseRobb - It's going to be a Tag Team based fed which is different.

MarkW - It's still feeling like a Turbocharged ECW which should be interesting.

ZSR23 - Classic WWE with the Bullet Club added - that's fun straight away

alpha2117 - I've ended up the most different purely because I am not North American based. Meltzer would be creaming his jeans over my fed.
