cgl56
I have a problem.. I do not like skills, attributes or whatever they are called in different games on the 1-100 scale, even the 1-20... I could even say the 1-10 scale is "too much" for me. I like to play management type of games, often in sports, and it kills the immersion for me when you get to know the player has a skill of 72 in a particular area. There are in real life two ways to measure "attributes" in people. 1) You may perform a test. Let say you want to measure endurance, then you let the person perform a VO2 max test or a beep test. And you get a result that you could compare with others performing the same test. 2) If it is an attribute that you can't test, let say Charisma in TEW, in real life you would never say, "well Mr X has a charisma of 54". You would probably express it in words but if you should convert it to numbers the scale would be 1-5, maybe 1-4 (very good, good, ok, bad) or even 1-3. If you go to a restaurant and you get the question how the food tasted, would you answer "39"? So this is what I cannot understand. Why in the year 2019 are these gifted people who are able to create these very complicated games not able to present attributes/skills in a better (for me at least) way? It seems that in this special case they are mentally still in the 20th century playing board games with dices and tables. Another example of this is war games that still uses hexagons! So my first filter when deciding to buy a game or not is actually how the attributes/skills are presented. As an example Football Manager has a scale of 1-20 but you are able to hide the attributes and that is what I do. Out of the Park Baseball is a game that is very flexible and you may show the attributes in several different ways or hide them totally. But many games give us this 1-100 scale and no way to select another view. And I understand that most people like it this way. They really want to know if a guy have a Charisma of 49 and not just "OK". So I belong to a minority (maybe I am alone!) but that also have some good implications, I do not buy that many games and saves money!
ブッチャー
I hate the 1-100 rating system, too. That's why I use letter grades. During a game, go into Options > User Preferences then select "Show stats as grades rather than numbers". That's basically a 1-17 scale now. If that's still too much for you, then go to your TEW2016 directory, then go to Skins > Default > Graphics, then replace the C- and C+ (for example) with just C. Now you essentially have a 1-6 scale. Problem solved. It'll still show your segments as C+ or B- if you look in show history and things like that, but your workers abilities will always be displayed without the +/-. Although it sounds like number grades (and the displaying of ratings as images, making them moddable) is a thing of the past in TEW2020, so enjoy it while you can. Vinsmoker
"Fog of War" is what you're looking for in TEW 16 and "Scouting" in TEW
Morti
I personally really like the 1-100 rating system in sports sim games, I just like seeing the numbers I guess
Matt_Black
Same here, or at least I don't actively dislike it. Probably all those years of playing D&D and other RPGs. (Just be thankful Adam Ryland never played Deadlands, because their system is.... well. There's a reason they've done numerous relaunches with simpler systems.) FINisher
Here's the best you can do Letter Grades F- to A* instead of Numbers [small skins mod], or you could actually make your own images using these by just copy/pasting and renaming the images. If you want 0-20, just replace all the 0-20 with one letter, say E, then D C B A for the rest 20-20-20-20 shifts in grades. http://sadhappy.mbnet.fi/WEXXV/statsletters.png
Sharkn20
I like the 1-100 scale, but I do enjoy the 20 - 80 in OOTP and 1-20 in football manager.

KyleCamelot
I've never actually tried it, but if you just replace the number graphics with a black square you won't see attributes, and then you can judge things by performance and have the search function in the worker page be general scouting (I'm looking for...) This would replace those numbers everywhere so things like popularity and such would also be blank so it's a messy solution, but one I'd try. It's pretty late in development, but I would actually love if there was an option for complete obfuscation with the new scouting system, allowing you to only use the search tools and grades and note improvements after matches to tell how skilled poeple are. TLCJR4LIFE
I find this thread extremely strange given that both Letter Grades and Fog of War are default options for any new game and the new player has sto actively tweak his game to be numeric. Really strange for a first and only post

I honestly cannot think of a grading system that would be optimal besides letter and number grading. Out of the two, I like the number system better though.</p>

Dave E Mac
It’s a text based game. I think if you start taking that away it start losing the essence of what it is. If you also take into account people make real world mods so people when asked to can out an exact number of charisma on a scale of 1-100. With fog of war turned on I think it’s quite realistic in the sense it takes a long time to find those exact figures out. Also for me personally I find the letter grading system too vague, I like the precision of numbers.
EBEZA
I have never changed from the default letter settings, and haven't felt like I needed to. When I get a grade for a show of A*, I know that's really good, and doesn't really matter to me whether it was a 96 or a 100. Different strokes for different folks, though - even though I don't use the numbers, I'm glad they're there for those who want to know EXACTLY how good their show was. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

nerodragomir1
I actually like the 1-100 scale. I just hate when the stats are too O.P "a bonechilling amount of mods with Ospreys stats" or when a wrestler has ------ levels. "for the longest time, Evil, Sho, Yoh, & general former young lions that have moved past that YL level." I enjoy the growth of seeing them get better or worse.
