The One Where Everything Goes To Shit

Things were going well for Great British Wrestling, or so I thought. The Coronavirus scare had closed down most of the UK wrestling scene for nearly 3 months. We were one of only a handful of feds dumb enough to ignore the health risks and keep on running shows. Yes, we weathered a shit-storm of criticism for it, but we drew our higest ever attendances (to date) as a result. I thought GBW was riding a wave of momentum. I was happy. So happy infact I'd cut down to less than 20 beers a day. I was so confident that I'd planned a big, ambitious tournament we couldn't possibly afford, with the aim of putting our shitty little company on the map. Everybody was excited for The Invitational Title Tournament and the bright future it would bring. The positivity about the place was contagious. "What could possibly go wrong?" I thought to myself.

And then Boris Johnson happened. With one speech he shat all over everything. It did for GBW what the Enola Gay did for Hiroshima. Okay, maybe that's a little over-the-top. But it screwed us big time.

The Covid-19 Lockdown had brought out the inner crazy in people. Grandmothers arrested for fighting over chicken breasts at butchers. People stockpiling toilet paper like it was some bizarre arse-specific apocalypse. It was like the people of Britain had gone feral.
A couple of weeks prior to us announcing the tournament McDonalds re-opened it's drive-ins. People completely lost their minds, forming miles long queues and waiting for hours just for a bag of warm, greasy shit. Whole city centres were brought to a standstill by this nonsense. It was chaos. Then department stores like Primark re-opened. Morons in their tens of thousands queued throughout the night for the re-opening. Tents were put up. Manchester centre turned into a shanty town over this crap - all for cheap clothes nobody needed. Opening day was carnage as idiots literally brawled over jeans. The Sandman would've been proud of some of the violence going on. People completely lost their minds.

<img src="
style="width:93%;">

So when Boris announced that pubs across the UK would re-open July 4th, the shit really hit the fan. People cancelled weddings to go for a pint. Funerals went unattended as people scrambled for a cold beer. We'd spent fortunes on posters, Facebook advertising, local media, the works. The date of our show? July 4th. We couldn't afford to change the date, as the small rabble of fans who did attend had already bought tickets and would be furious if we cancelled on them. Overnight we were back to doing shows with less people than a children's birthday party. The cost of our shows had tripled, but our attendance had halved. We were screwed.

We weren't alone though. So many wrestling promotions who'd shut up shop during the pandemic simply couldn't re-open. A once vibrant landscape was suddenly barren. It'd take years for the UK wrestling industry to recover.

Everything was broken. Society was collectively losing it's shit. Millions were still being decimated from an invisible disease. And out of the ashes of all that, we did our best to put on the biggest show in our history. To say the odds were stacked against us would be the understatement of the century.

What a time to run out of champagne.

Very happy to see this still going. And you've hired Dangerous Damon Leigh! Cheers!

Loving the factoring COVID-19 into the storyline as well btw.

Many, many months ago people kindly suggested wrestlers for me to hire. I got chance to include a couple of them in my shows, but the slow pace of my diary meant many fell by the wayside. I never forgot about them though. This tournament was a way of featuring all the names suggested, plus a way to introduce this shiny new belt. The diary never stopped going (and potentially never will) - it's just that I have a very hectic real life so don't get as much time to spend on this as I'd like.

Thank you for reading. And thank you to all who've predicted so far. Results coming soon.

Our show began with unseen footage from our previous show, Chapter 11. Liam Slater and Sam Bailey were both in the back of an ambulance, both battered, bruised and bandaged. Both men were about to head to hospital for medical examinations after their run-ins with Walter and The Prestige respectively. Suddenly the lights inside the ambulance went out, and the eerie, demonic laughter of Eddie Vega filled the air. GBW's psychotic clown taunted them after their losses, mocking Bailey for so briefly holding the GBW World Title and so quickly losing all he'd dedicated his life to working for. Vega wished Bailey a speedy return, so he could take the broken pieces of Bailey's body and tear them apart for good.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

He then turned his torment to Liam Slater, belittling him for giving the fight of his life against the Austrian giant, only to lose, and having to spend the rest of his life knowing he'd fallen short when facing the best. He laughed at how Slater would forever be crushed by the invisible ceiling of his own limitations, before adding that he and Gerald would crush him physically to finish the job, should he dare to ever darken GBW with his presence again. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 43.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Back into the present and our Old Mill venue. I got the show going by announcing The GBW Invitational Title Tournament; the biggest, most ambitious series in the company's history. (Though to be fair the bar was set pretty damn low at that point). I laid out the tournament rules and paraded the shiny new Invitational Title. I brought out tonight's 4 outsiders, and pretended to be thrilled with the smattering of applause our lukewarm fans provided. To be fair, most of them were still getting drunk at the bar at this stage. Those sober enough to be in their seats for this were rightly tired of my shit. They wanted action. So I gave it to them. 'Aussie' Mark Davis was up first. I told him I was impressed with his matches in GBW previously. This was his last chance. He could finally grab a spot in GBW with this tournament. If he lost, he'd never get another chance ever, ever again. Davis looked psyched up by this, ready for battle. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 40.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

<hr></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle: The Prestige Hit The Scene. </span></strong></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Out came the cocky, smug little bastard known as Sebastian, with his buddies The Prestige hanging back and watching over things on the entrance ramp. Mark Davis and Sebastian traded insults before the opening bout. Sebastian was mortified by Aussie's horrific use of the English language, and threatened to 'colonise him'. I laughed so hard from my commentary position that I nearly choked on my twelfth beer of the night. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 42.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>Invitational Tournament: 'Aussie' Mark Davis vs Sebastian.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Mark Davis was noticeably the larger, stronger of the competitors, and used it to full advantage. His GBW opponent had some good submissions and memorable mat wrestling spots, but Davis was able to power through them and escape. He tossed Seb about the ring like a lion playing with a carcass, and controlled most of the match, making his smaller foe look like a rag doll. Seb cunningly rolled to the outside after a close pinfall attempt, where The Prestige did their bad guy routine and kicked the crap out of the pursuing Australian. This gave Sebastian the time he needed to recover, drag Davis back into the ring and on to the top turnbuckle, setting up a huge Superplex to finish the match. Out of nowhere though Davis reversed it into a massive Top Rope Powerbomb! Referee Carmen Gil did the count but was grabbed by Joey Hayes and Garrett Tate before she could reach 3. Mark Davis screamed at them in his thick, guttural Aussie accent, furious at their continued interference. Suddenly Sebastian grabbed him from behind, hit a lightning fast Backslide Pin, and gained an unfair pinfall victory!</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle: A Lot Of People, A Lot Of Talking. </span></strong></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Before Davis could even react, The Prestige threw Davis out the ring like trash. Davis tried to jump back in to carry on the fight, but I had GBW's security goons stop him. Now wasn't the time or place for a mass brawl, and I wanted to see what these Prestige wankers were up to. Davis stormed off backstage, furious his last ever chance at a place in GBW had vanished before his eyes.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Cruz and The Prestige immediately started gloating about outsmarting Sam Bailey, me, the fans, and the whole world at Chapter 11. Cruz explained The Prestige was founded even before Chapter 1. It was always their plan that whoever didn't win the inaugural GBW World Title Tournament would carry the #1 contender spot, no matter the cost, as a backup plan. The title, he explained, would always be in Prestige hands, no matter what Bailey or anybody else did. He never stood a chance; he was just too much of a "lower-class, uneducated peasant" to outsmart them.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

There are two kinds of people in the world, they gloated. The ruling classes like them, who are pre-destined to lord over us all and control the world for the betterment of society. "Those in the upper echelons were put upon the Earth to manage the mindless livestock of the human race known as the lower classes. The commoners. The proletariat. The scum that scurry like mice through the streets of Britain." Bailey was of one class, they claimed. They are of another. It would always be The Prestige, with their superior intellects, wealth and position, that would be in control of Great British Wrestling, they stated. "It is the way of things. The natural order." </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 40.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Former Prestige members Earl Black Jr and David Finlay Jr (now known as 'The Future') marched out, stating they wanted revenge for being publicly fired. They once held the Prestige's beliefs, but realised now they were just used. Just pawns. They'd do anything to settle the score - with blood.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Before Cruz, Hayes and co. could answer, Sam Bailey came to the ring, still clearly physically far from 100% after his two wars last month. It was clear he had no business anywhere near a ring. He should've been in a hospital bed, not at a wrestling show where his wounds could become permanent injuries. He put The Prestige on notice that as soon as he could get a doctor's clearance to fight, he'd get revenge, no matter the cost, regardless of the risk. He'd take them on all at once if he had to.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

As if there weren't enough people running their mouths, our own demented mime Eddie Vega made his way to the ring. Gerald, his ravenous, bloodthirsty lion roared with approval. Vega, in his own uniquely disturbing way, told Cruz, Black Jr, Finlay Jr and Bailey he would destroy them all. His dearly departed muse Jokey would be avenged. Her pain would be paid for ten-fold with theirs. Etc, etc. You get the drift. Bailey in particular looked terrified after the ambulance encounter we saw earlier.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Enough was enough. I prevented World War 3 by granting wishes like the Genie from Aladdin. I declared that our main event tonight would be Cruz, Hayes and Tate vs The Future & Bailey. Whoever was pinned for the loss would get fed to Vega and Gerald! </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 41.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I'm just going to come out and say it. Joe Nelson looks about 13 years old. Here was this kid - 18 years old but looking like his balls still hadn't dropped - doing high spots and dangerous stunts like a seasoned pro. To say the kid's fast would be an understatement. Seeing him in the ring is like watching Lucha Libre on fast forward. He's like Essa Rios on crack, but with an Emo haircut and no armpit hair. Prince Ameen had instructed his buddies the Bhangra Knights to stay out of this one. He'd had a few losses in the last few months and saw this match as a way to rebuild his momentum. RJ and Ali did as they were told, being just interested spectators at ringside, shouting encouragement without getting involved.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Ameen regretted the decision as soon as the bell rang, as Nelson hit an A-to-Z of aerial assaults with machine-gun velocity. He'd stun Prince with Saltos, Springboard Hurricanranas and Head-scissors, get a near pinfall, and be back on the top rope again before Ameen could even blink. The Prince had one advantage though: size. Joe weighs less than one of Brock Lesnar's toes and has the raw physicality of a chicken nugget. His phenomenal speed wasn't backed up with the strength or power of Ameen. After 5 minutes of domination, Joe got caught mid-air and squashed with a huge Leaping, Spinning Powerbomb. That completely crushed the air from the young challenger, allowing Ameen to slow the pace and gain control. Nelson would still have some spectacular moments, but Prince used his size advantage time and again to regain momentum. An Infidel To Hell finisher put an end to an entertaining, fast paced match. GBW were 2-0 so far in the inaugural Invitational Title Tournament!</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The Bhangra Knights did what they do best: they had a party. And why not? They'd a lot to celebrate. As they were dancing with our fans (while adhering to social distancing measures, of course) the festivities were suddenly cut short. The subtle, gentle tones of 'Bangarang' by Skrillex suddenly hit the air and the crowd (tiny as it was) were on their feet with excitement, as GBW's newest tag team hit the scene. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 40.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The new team of Slater and Session wasted no time, blindsiding the Tag Champions who were still in the ring celebrating with Ameen. They used their surprise to isolate Singh and work him over. By the time the bell rang and the Knights had any idea what was happening, Singh was trapped in the #Rave corner being double-teamed with the kind of frenzy that only a dozen Vodka Red Bulls can provide. Every time RJ nearly escaped, the challengers would make a hot tag and find a way to trap him again.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Finally though the pace slowed. Liam Slater had taken a hellacious beating at Chapter 11, and had rushed back to action without fully recovering. A stiff kick to Slater's ribs made him collapse in a heap. Benham 'Tiger' Ali got the hot tag and the match swung at that point. 'Party Boy' was physically shot and could offer little resistance to the Blitzkrieg of high impact moves coming his way. 'Session Moth' Martina could only watch in frustration as Ali's Flight Of The Phoenix finisher kept the belts with the champions. Had Slater been 100%, however, things might have been different.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The Bhangra Knights disappeared backstage to celebrate what had been a very successful night for them, leaving 'Session Moth' and 'Party Boy' to lick their wounds. The GBW fans sympathetically applauded their efforts. #Rave made their way up the ramp.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Suddenly there was a lion's roar, then demented laughter. Eddie Vega appeared like an apparition behind them, and smashed Martina hard across the back with what was surprisingly the first chair-shot in GBW history. She fell through the curtains and out of sight. The already wounded Liam Slater was now alone. A Double Arm DDT onto the chair rendered him defenceless.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

In a cacophony of evil laughter, Eddie Vega threw his nemesis off the entrance ramp, through the Merchandise table. There were limbs and shattered wood, hats and t-shirts everywhere. GBW Security quickly formed a human wall between him and Vega to prevent any further assault, in a move that was surprisingly effective for a bunch of unqualified stiffs. That was as close as any of them were willing to get though, due to the massive f**king lion roaring at them from the entrance ramp. A furious Vega then warned Bailey, Earl Black, David Finlay and Nathan Cruz that they were next! Perhaps the most memorable promo of the night was also the simplest and quietest. At some point soon during Chapter 12, GBW's pet monster John 'Asylum' Doe would lock horns with the other monster in our midst Walter. He let the world know he was ready for the battle in his own unique way.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

A darkened room. A close-up of his face. His bloodshot, frenzied eyes unblinking through his blood-stained hockey mask. All you could hear was the eerie echo of his breathing. His eyes remained locked upon the camera as if he were staring right at the viewers in their homes. He did not blink. Slowly the camera panned upward to the wall behind him to 3 words written in huge letters, in what appeared to be blood. The message was simple: "Die. Walter. Die." </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 47.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The fans had little time to get over the shock of the assault on Slater, as we went straight into our next match, the third in our Invitational Title Tournament. The Jamaican Luchadore, himself a newcomer having just recently won a place in GBW via the New Blood Series, hit the ring to mild applause. You could tell he was psyched to make a name for himself here. The big, shit-eating grin on his face instantly disappeared when his opponent came to the ring. 3 words come to mind when describing the German nutcase known only as 'Lucky Kid' - "bat", "shit" and "crazy". Just look at the guy!:</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

He spent as much time screaming at the ceiling and clawing at his own hair as he did fighting. He was also more than willing to use referee Carmen Gil as a human shield whenever it suited him too. His style is difficult to describe, though I'm pretty certain he didn't blink at all throughout the 13 minutes this match lasted. Style-wise he's a dynamo high flier with explosive speed and endless movement. Frantic. Frenzied. Fearless. 'Boom Boom' is no slouch either. The bout was a spiraling clusterf**k of brilliant, silly, spectacular moves - no psychology, not much story - but a parabolic onslaught of crazy, high-flying crap. The fans loved it. The critics hated it. Eventually it came down to Lucky being slightly younger and fresher than his 32 year old opponent. In a spot that was as breath-taking as it was utterly ridiculous, Jamaica's top rope Superplex was reversed mid-air into a Hangman's Neckbreaker / Diamond Cutter hybrid. That was all she wrote. The mad German became the first non-GBW participant to advance in the tournament.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Mark Haskins cut a backstage promo ahead of his match with Toni Storm. Some are motivated by glory, others by ambition, some by fame, others by greed, he stated. He's doing this to put food on his family's dinner plates and keep a roof over their head. Winning the Invitational Title helps secure his family's future, and there is no greater motivator on this Earth than that, he said. No matter who stands in his way - even an internationally recognised athlete like Storm - they will get bulldozed. It's nothing personal, it's just a matter of priorities. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 41.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Toni Storm came to the ring, respectfully listing Haskins' achievements in the UK with feds like Progress, to his overseas triumphs like his Smash Wrestling World Title run in Canada. He's a great opponent, she said, one of the best she's ever faced. But her mission is to put women's wrestling on the map and to make the sport view females as fighting equals. A victory over Haskins would get people talking. It'd make people realise that superstars like her could hang with any male wrestler on the circuit, and come out victorious. She spoke about her World Title Shot next week on the next installment of the Invitational Title Tournament, saying that a victory here would be the perfect way to build momentum ahead of her title clash with the notorious Nathan Cruz.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Haskins entered the ring. They faced off. Then their stare-down evolved into pushing and shoving. The fans were on their feet. I rang the bell. Everyone was ready for the contest that could steal the show. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 44.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>Invitational Title Tournament: Mark Haskins vs Toni Storm.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Haskins had physical advantages in terms of size and strength and controlled the match early. His strategy was to slow down his faster, more agile opponent with kicks to her legs, followed by brutal ground-based submissions. Storm would wriggle free, hit Haskins with clotheslines, dropkicks, even a nicely executed Flying Headscissors. These moves stunned rather than hurt Haskins though, and each time he'd find a way to power through her offence and ground her again. The strategy was working, each trip to the mat slowing down Storm a little more. Her pain was becoming impossible to hide.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

That was, until Haskins went for a Suplex and Toni hung onto the ropes, connected with a reverse mule kick to his chest, and landed a huge Leaping Swinging DDT from out of nowhere. With Haskins stunned, Storm followed up with a Tornado DDT, then rolled straight through, lifting Haskins into the air for a superb German Suplex for the near fall. The fans were on their feet at this display of athleticism. Storm had taken a beating but refused to give up. The match - seemingly one sided at the start - was now wide open.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

But then that smug prick Nathan Cruz showed up with The Prestige, mockingly clapping our #1 Contender. He'd later claim on Social Media he was just scouting his future opponent from ringside, but everyone knew that was bullshit. While it's true he didn't intervene directly, his presence distracted Toni just long enough for Haskins to recover. Storm turned, her momentum lost, and walked straight into a Superkick that'd put Bruce Lee to shame. The smaller Storm flew backwards, smacking the back of her head hard against the cornerpost before collapsing in a heap. Haskins was pissed that Cruz had got involved, but the chance at progressing in the Invitational Title Tournament was too much to miss. Reluctantly he covered her for the 1, 2, 3, before immediately signalling for medics to check upon his fallen foe.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Haskins was furious at Cruz and yelled insults at him, before climbing out to ringside and shoving the GBW World Champion hard. The Prestige immediately rallied to protect him. Haskins, exhausted after a tough match, saw he was outnumbered 4 to 1, and thought better of it. He flipped them all the middle finger before walking away in disgust.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The match also had a lot of interference: Sebastian distracted Storm, Joey Hayes distracted Storm, and finally Garrett Tate distracted Storm. Segment rating was penalised for a noticeable botch. Toni Storm was angry backstage after the match, upset that Mark Haskins almost injured her with a botched move. As The Prestige admired their handiwork from ringside, an enraged 'Aussie' Mark Davis appeared from behind the curtain, sneak-attacked Sebastian from behind and Piledrivered him head-first on to the wooden entrance ramp, knocking him out instantly! "Take that you smug, posh, slimy little limey bastard" Davis could be heard screaming as he towered over his fallen foe. "You were </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><em>so</em></span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> happy about screwing me out of GBW, weren't ya?! Cruz, Hayes and Tate ran back up the ramp to avenge their fallen comrade, but Davis was gone before they even got close. He may have been forced out of GBW for good, but he sure as hell left making an impact. As for the 3vs3 match coming up, things were suddenly a lot more even. As Sebastian was helped to his feet and helped to the back by medics, The Prestige realised they wouldn't have any help from ringside. They were not happy. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 40.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>'The Prestige' (Nathan Cruz, Joey Hayes, Garrett Tate) vs 'Super' Sam Bailey & 'The Future' (David Finlay Jr & Earl Black Jr) - Loser Gets Fed To Eddie Vega & Gerald The Lion.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The Prestige came back to the ring all smiles and smugness, trying to make it look like the attack on Sebastian hadn't affected them. Their music had barely finished playing when Sam Bailey came running down the ramp, leaped through the ropes and started raining punches and kicks on both Joey Hayes and Nathan Cruz. He was PISSED. All he cared about was revenge. He was like a one man wrecking crew until Garrett Tate grabbed him by the hair and rammed him face first into the turnbuckles. From that moment on, The Prestige were swarming on him like piranhas.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The teamwork of The Prestige was a huge advantage for them as they isolated Sam Bailey in their corner of the ring, using fast tags to stay fresh, while pummeling the former GBW Champion. Bailey was clearly not 100% from his two wars at Chapter 11, and now he was trapped on the wrong end of a 3-on-1 beating. When Black Jr and Finlay Jr got to the ring there was nothing they could do. Every time Bailey came close to tagging out, The Prestige would drag him back to their side of the ring, and continue gleefully kicking the living shit out of him.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

There was only so much of this that The Future could watch. Enough was enough and they took matters into their own hands. Referee Carmen Gil could only protest as they casually strolled across the ring and started kicking ass. A wild 3-on-3 brawl broke out immediately. Despite being the only talented official in GBW's early history, there was no way she could control 6 guys determined to maim each other. She looked at me and asked my permission to call off the match, but I told her to chill out, cracked open another beer and watched the mayhem with a smile.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Normally this'd be more craziness than most feds could handle. But this was GBW. Crazy was our modus operandi. So naturally this was the exact moment our deranged clown Eddie Vega turned up with his steel chair and his massive f**king lion. The first to get nailed was David Finlay Jr. Poor bastard didn't see it coming. Fell like a corpse. Earl Black Jr rain to help his partner and ate steel like it was cake. Garrett Tate ran over to do... something. Eddie wasn't interested in him though - he wasn't involved in the injuring of his treasured 'muse' Jokey. One roar from Gerald and Tate was running away like a frightened little girl. He cries well for a grown man. Nathan Cruz was next for a beatdown. Then Bailey. Eventually the only one left standing was Hayes. He looked on in fear as the rabid Vega dragged the unconscious Bailey into the ring and left him on the canvas like roadkill. He gestured for Hayes to make the pin. 3 seconds later this one was over. A match-up with 6 top athletes, including 3 GBW World Champions, had been decided by a clown. Welcome to wrestling, folks.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The fans were simultaneously pissed off and highly entertained by the carnage they'd just witnessed. Shame there wasn't more of them there to see it. Eddie Vega had destroyed his first victim Liam Slater earlier in the night. And now it seemed Sam Bailey was next on the chopping block.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">
