Some great picks today guys, sorry that I forgot to mention I'd be at a funeral today (Friday). We celebrated my uncle's life by getting effed up to honor him, naturally, so it was a long day and I haven't even slept since before my Thursday overnight shift so... I'm gonna crash. thank you for all of the help, Uncrewed! And curses to you guys for not letting Kento and Nakajima and Marufuji fall to later rounds. :p

Oh, and I disagree about Hero as I've found him incredibly easy to get to Main Event status in Japan with my product type. He is a great fit as the a-hole, smashmouth gaijin.

I agree he's great - I've done the same when I did WWA Japan and got both Cesaro & Chris Hero over as huge stars. With my analysis I tried to find both the strengths and weaknesses (much like a sports show would). You even pointed out that you missed Nakajima, Miyahara & Marufuji and that's really why Chris might be called a reach. He's a fine talent but quite possibly would still be around now much like Colt Cabana was when I took him. It's really the only pick of yours which could nominally be called a weakness and lets face it Chris Hero isn't a weakness but he is perhaps not the strength NJPW World, Marufuji, Nakajima or Miyahara would have been to a Japanese federation with that 8th round pick.

Very fair point, I think I may be just pretty high on Hero right now. :p I'm glad I have a bit of a murderer's row of Japanese born talent to fill the uppercard at present though. Plus AJ and my next pick.

So here goes another look at the draft after rnd 20 (a little late)

TSS - Had traded away 5 of it's teen picks but still managed to pick up 4 solid talents that added more depth to the Japanese powerhouse then came the stinkbomb of TJ Perkins ???? I like TJ Perkins but at pick 20 and in Japan is what can only be described as a ponderous selection :p

SHOWTIME - Picked 9 hot chicks and Todd Phillips … one of these things is not like the others. That said it's a solid job creating a fed that will likely be very popular with 14 year old boys which of course Todd Phillips resembles. :p;):p

CECW - AEW … AEW … oh sorry CECW … CECW. So Seth Rollins will be playing the role of Kenny Omega here with John Hennigan slotting into the Cody Rhodes role I guess - he's even bringing his wife along just like Cody. Adam Cole becomes even more Chris Jericho like than he is already in this fed. It's a fed full of youngish athletic workers with a couple of experienced vet tag teams thrown in and has a pretty clear vision.

PWG - Nobody could accuse PWG of false advertising - it's exactly what it says on the label PWG style talent with two possible exceptions and those exceptions both have 2 X chromosomes. I love Io and Sasha but they are looking like the odd women out right now.

STAMPEDE - Has created a Canadian Mega Fed that will be hard to beat in it's home region. It will be interesting to see how people like Teddy Hart, Randy Orton & Davey Richards effect it's locker room but there should be enough positive influences to keep it on a steady course.

DWA - Solid set of mid-card picks and then Zeke … Destiny's somewhat bizarre fascination with the big lump of a man continues.

Progress - Had traded away 4 of it's picks and used it's picks to create a solid base for a womens division and brought in a Tag Team that has plenty of size and potential.

ROH - Had 8 picks and drafted an intriguing mix of somewhat unexpected names. Still appears to be down on star power in it's home region.

CMLL - The Mexi-Mega Fed knew what it wanted to do and went out and did it. You cant really critique that sort of draft because its exactly what anyone would do in real life if it was their money on the line.

RAW - Added the revival to the South Pacific mix which made total sense and added a solid announce team. Its actually a fed I think I'd enjoy booking.

WS_X - Had roughly a million picks and used those picks to select a man in a rabbit costume, a man who uses his groin as an offensive weapon a couple of guys obsessed with a meaningless title belt, some transgender girls, some hot chicks of dubious skill level, a likely to be somewhat confused Japanese emerging superstar, two guys running awfully similar pseudo Exotico gimmicks, two guys who like to party hard, a Japanese based network to show this brand of lunacy because no tv exec is giving this a deal and two solid young announcers to call it on and added Jinder Mahal! MAHAL!!!!!

Ricochet & Io Shirai vs LAX is the Cutest Tag Team vs the Young Bucks for a next generation. It will be fine. :)

Of course it will be fine - it's not like you lost your mind and drafted a bunch of drag queens - barely competent women and guys whose greatest skill lies on the mic not in ring - only an idiot would do that.

<p>Draft review post rnd 30</p><p> </p><p>

So we are through the Written Contract stage and by this point most of the feds are pretty settled in terms of what they are going to be.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>TSS</strong> - Added some solid veterans and A couple of Gaijin Tag Teams to the mix. Post Draft Japan will be a all you can eat buffet for them so it makes sense to grab the foreigners in these rounds. Now if they can just get a exterminator in to remove their TJP infestation all will be well. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>SHOWTIME</strong> - Hmmmm not sure about this set of picks Michaels & Austin are pop magnets and their hiring makes sense. Cone is fine. The Women fit the product okay. Corgan & Meij seem like a bit of a waste of time - they don't add to SHOWTIMES product in a meaningful way and their are so many potential Owners in the world that taking them off the board doesn't significantly hurt anyone else just seems like an unproductive use of picks that could have been used on people who would actually enhance their product. I would have taken Corgan as my owner Booker come round 31 but he wasn't vital - his style and skillset fits my product and was the only reason I would have used him but in SHOWTIME he's just a fairly useless guy as is Meij.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CECW</strong> - The AEW styling continued. Added GOD who have a long history with the Bucks. It's made the fed pretty coherent. Hasn't drafted Staff on Written contracts which can be problematic sometimes as they are the people who you absolutely need to use every show which means their costs on PPA tend to be inefficient.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PWG </strong>- Continued to draft workers who fit (except those 2 women who just seem out of place). It's a good solid roster built to purpose but is very reliant on retaining those top stars as their mid-card are down a little on potential stars coming from within.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>STAMPEDE</strong> - Added Big Show and Undertaker which will help their pop. A decent mix of talent to fill out their mid/lower card gives them a very solid product that may well make serious inroads into the US.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>DWA </strong>- The whole fed feels like Destiny's attempt to do something more commercial whilst still retaining much of their traditional flavour. There's enough there to be competitive and style wise it's clearly going to be more traditional and less flippy than places like PWG & CECW.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PROGRESS</strong> - Will be strong in it's home region and with no true English speaking world powerhouse should be able to grow over time in that area.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>ROH</strong> - Will the AI feast on them? That's the big question. The lack of big stars in their own region means they will be down on some other feds and that could lead to them slowly be cannibalised. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CMLL</strong> - Have built fortress Mexico and will be unassailable at home. With none of the other North American feds looking likely to make huge moves into Mexico it should mirror real life in many ways just with less WWE powerhouse attempts to steal some Lucha talent to appeal to the Latin market.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RAW</strong> - Can they break out of the Australian ghetto? Some canny overseas acquisitions have given them a chance to do it. Just a really nice all round wrestling package. They live and die on Roman Reigns though in terms of expansion - retain him and they are a chance of becoming something over the long term - lose him and they are probably just a dominant force locally.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS_X </strong>- Built to fail but also to entertain me whilst doing so. It's a mix of Camp gimmicks, scantily clad women, Musical acts and outright comedy that is uncommercial and likely to offend. There is enough there though that if I am lucky I might actually be able to make it work. I got the 2nd best Network which mean I have coverage everywhere, a good announce team and a brilliant RA and the people I have drafted should nail the gimmicks given their skillsets. Will start small being in Europe but most of the other feds don't seem overly equipped to move into that region anytime soon so I should be able to keep it alive.</p>

You aren't going to waste your resources battling them in a war you don't need to fight when you will already have to fight the US feds to ensure you keep them down in Canada and perhaps overpower them in the US. You basically start the game in an existing dogfight so it's not like you are going to start another one straight away. It's the same reason that the Australian, Japanese and British feds look good to grow stronger in their home regions straight away as nobody is well equipped enough to take their eyes of their own North American homebase and go on the attack outside that continent. Progress might move into Europe as it's not like WS_X can stop them and TSS and RAW might move out of their local areas over time but none of those three seem likely to attack Mexico early either.</p>

Thinking about it I think somewhere down the track we should do a 14 FED draft where each region has 2 feds and you can draft workers from wherever. The draft order would be based on location too so Australia, Europe, Canada, British Isles, Mexico, Japan, USA which means if you start in the US you have a lot more options in game but your starting talent choice in the draft is a little down whilst if you start in the difficult to get out of Australia you get 1st or 2nd choice in the draft. It would be interesting to see how such a world develops and everyone would start the game with a natural rival and a decent set of challenges to succeed. As a player building something up from that sort of base could be a nice challenge.
