SPW World Title Match- Joe Boone © vs. Friedrich Herzog

I do think that if you want your next champ to be someone who ain´t been champion yet, then Herzog is the most likely choice. Still, I do think that Boone is going to retain mainly because Loiselle, Suarez and Herzog are now all faces so it feels like heel champion has more potential opponents than what face champion would have.

SPW Tag Team Title Match- The Kuroki Boys © vs. The Chivalry

Will be interesting to see were Chiivalry goes now that they aren´t champs anymore, will they stay together as one of the cornerstones of your tag division or will they break up. Either way, their time as tag champs is currently over so they do the job here.

Emilio Suarez vs. Perry Bryant

Bryant has been getting big wins, although not by clean mannner. I actually go with draw here to continue he´s push without hurting Suarez.

Levi Andrews vs. Nathan Hayes

I could see this one going either way but when I doubt, I go with one of the starting seven

The Faithful vs. Young Guns & Denise Alessio

I could see this one going either way as Guns kind of need a win soon but Faithful just formed so I think they will get the debut win here.

SPW Women's Title Match- Melinda Bell © vs. Diana Gosselin

Still feels too early for title chance so Bell retains.

Daniel Loiselle & Spike Morgan vs. Double Shot

There´s not much doubt on winners here but will be interesting to see were this Loiselle Morgan angle is going. I wonder if heel turn for one or the other is on the cards as Herzog and Andrews moving to face side does leave opening for new top heel or two.

Danny Cool vs. Scott Levesque

Could see this one going either way as both are kind of bottom in the barrel in my books but Cool is more esttablished and seems like he still has bone to pick with Disco.

Big Z vs. Bernie Hughes

Thinking this might be a spot for a debut win.

Dustin David vs. La Oscuridad

This is tough one as these two are kind of even in my books. I think I go with David as I rate him marginally higher but I won´t be surprised if I end up being wrong.

SPW 4th of July Show 1922

SPW 4th of July Show 1922

2epe58T.jpg

4th July 1922. Jackson, MS

Attendance: 366

To start the show, Levi Andrews & Friedrich Herzog came out and Levi Andrews took the microphone to address what took place at SPW Pro Wrestling 28:

jee5VHL.jpg6RNouzl.jpg

"When Friedrich Herzog won the number 1 contender round robin earlier this year, I told both Joe Boone and Friedrich that I would not get involved- they had to sort it out for themselves. That's why, when they chose to face one another at Extravaganza, I stayed away- as far as I was concerned, it was between them to find who was the better man and who deserved to be Champion. Then Nathan Hayes got involved and helped Boone to win and I realised something- Joe Boone never cared about The Alliance, and the collective bargaining I had set The Alliance up to be about, he was only ever using The Alliance for his own gain. And so last month, I made my choice, and that was to do what was right. The Alliance will live on, me and Friedrich are stronger than ever and ready for anything, and tonight The Alliance wins back the World Title from Joe Boone, the man who tried to make The Alliance about himself, rather than the collective, when Friedrich Herzog pins him, 1-2-3 in the middle of that ring. And just for good measure, I am going to beat Nathan Hayes as well- Hayes, you fell down on the wrong side of this battle, then again, I should have known- you were a turncoat from the start after all, so get ready to be taken down!"

Rating: 25

Match 1: Dustin David vs. La Oscuridad

xmDEPG9.jpg vs. uKbM6t2.jpg

In a decent match, Dustin David drew with La Oscuridad in 6:32 following a double count out where the two men forgot about the count due to being to invested in beating the hell out of each other. The eventually brawled all the way to the back.

Rating: 53

Match 2: Big Z vs. Bernie Hughes

8wMMztk.jpg vs. I9fwGhU.jpg

In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Big Z defeated Bernie Hughes in 6:13 by pinfall with a Bulldog.

Rating: 32

Match 3: Danny Cool vs. Scott Levesque

AkyeJir.jpg vs. Msr7DxW.jpg

Rating: 27

Match 4: Daniel Loiselle & Spike Morgan vs. Double Shot

DIrVef3.jpgxjocTA7.jpg vs. ymkrBm7.jpgq56n1eQ.jpg

In a decent match, Double Shot defeated Daniel Loiselle and Spike Morgan in 11:15 when Spike Morgan, after seemingly having had the match won following a powerbomb on Carl Hackney, looked at Daniel Loiselle, shook his head, and walked from the ring, getting himself counted out in the process, much to the bafflement of Loiselle.

Rating: 51

Match 5: SPW Women's Title Match- Melinda Bell © vs. Diana Gosselin

2ffzFYi.jpg vs. aM8W6or.jpg

In a poor match, Melinda Bell defeated Diana Gosselin in 12:22 by pinfall. During the count, Gosselin managed to get her foot on the rope but the referee didn't see it. Melinda Bell makes defence number 2 of her SPW Women's title.

Rating: 26

Rating: 44

Match 10: SPW World Title Match- Joe Boone © vs. Friedrich Herzog

0GMbMmW.jpg vs. 6RNouzl.jpg

As you might imagine, the ending of the main event, much like at SPW Pro Wrestling 28, was marred by outside interference.

lj2pNRH.jpg

Firstly, Nathan Hayes attempted to help Joe Boone, but he was ably cut off by Levi Andrews, who was determined not to allow Boone worm his way to victory again.

jee5VHL.jpg

However, just as it looked like we were about to get the clean decision between Boone and Herzog, Spike Morgan arrived on the scene and speared Herzog to the ground while Boone tied up the referee.

xjocTA7.jpg

Herzog was then easy prey for a Boone elbow drop to get the victory and retain the title in 14:36. Joe Boone makes defence number 9 of his SPW World title.

Rating: 44

After the match, with both Levi Andrews and Friedrich Herzog down and nursing their injuries, Joe Boone, Nathan Hayes and Spike Morgan stood in the centre of the ring with their arms aloft.

<p>SPW 4th of July Show 1922 Aftermath</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Aftermath</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

There was little time to dwell on the 4th of July show backstage after the event, or even enjoy the 4th of July celebrations because Southern Pro Wrestling had another event to put on a 3 days time in Texas. Jay Lutter immediately went to work getting the press release out for SPW Pro Wrestling 29 so that the hype for the event could generate some publicity and ticket sales in the local area. Now that the 4th of July Show was done- one small tweak to the prepared statement had to be made on the night as Roland Pascual had picked up a little knock to his knee during the 6-person tag match that would require a week or so of resting up, therefore Pascual would not travel with the rest of the roster to Beaumont for the event. </p><p> </p><p>

The 4th of July Show had been a good one, the best since SPW Pro Wrestling 25 in March. That was mainly due to a decent main event where Joe Boone and Friedrich Herzog had gone one better in their World Title contest than they had at SPW Extravaganza. It should be noted however, that the 2 best matches in company history had taken place on the undercard.</p><p> </p><p>

Firstly, Daniel Loiselle & Spike Morgan's tag match against Double Shot hit a rating of 51, a rating point higher than the previous best match of all time for the match between Loiselle and Joe Boone at SPW Festive Fury 1921. Even this was beaten into second place however, by the blistering 6 and a half minute match that took place between Dustin David and La Oscuridad to open the card- they managed a 53 rating for their double count out. Given the rating, it's fair to say that both men deserve the chance to shine even further, the question was whether they could replicate such a performance in longer matches.</p>

SPW Pro Wrestling 29 Preview

Here is the preview for SPW Pro Wrestling 29...

After the party on the 4th of July, the wrestlers of SPW are back in Beaumont for more grappling action with revenge on their mind and glory in their sights!

Emilio Suarez may have gotten a measure of revenge against Perry Bryant at the 4th of July Show, but he's far from done with the man who caused him to lose his mask in February. In the main event of SPW Pro Wrestling 29 he teams with current SPW Tag Team Champions, The Kuroki Boys, to take on Bryant and the former tag title holders, The Chivalry. The Kuroki Boys have overcome the team they beat for the belts in consecutive matches now and so Sir Anthony Henry and Squire Albert Berik will require some form of victory here to have any chance of another shot at the belts.

Over the past couple of months, there have been a series of twists and turns when it comes to The Alliance, which all began when Friedrich Herzog won the number 1 contender round robin in the spring. In winning that tournament, Herzog qualified for a World Title Shot against stablemate, Joe Boone, and elected to take it, much to the chagrin of the Champion. In that match, fellow Alliance member, Nathan Hayes, made the difference between the two by interfering on Boone's behalf and helping him retain the gold.

Angered by Boone and Hayes' actions, the other member of the Alliance, Levi Andrews, made his presence felt at SPW Pro Wrestling 28 by preventing Nathan Hayes and Joe Boone from costing Herzog a number 1 contender match against Perry Bryant, allowing Herzog to secure another shot at Boone's title. When that chance came along at the 4th of July Show however, Boone had an ace up his sleeve in Spike Morgan who, in spearing Herzog, made the German easy prey for the defending Champion.

What does this all mean for a stable that has been a dominant force over the past 2 years? Boone has previously suggested that The Alliance will go on under his stewardship, but with the 2 founding members now at odds with him, how can that happen? And what is Spike Morgan's role in all of this? Those questions may remain, but at SPW Pro Wrestling 29, Herzog and Andrews will face Boone and Hayes in tag team action as the two halves of The Alliance will go to war. In an added twist however, the SPW Mid South Title will be on the line in the bout, as per the rules of the title which states that it must be defended each time SPW are in the area, therefore, if Herzog gets pinned or submits then whoever manages to do so will become SPW Mid South Champion.

The feud between The Faithful and Young Guns has raged on for a number of months now with Thomas Appleseed gaining the advantage lately after adding not only Austyn Taylor as a tag team partner, but also Consuelo Montero as a 3rd member of this bizarre collection of individuals. At the 4th of July Show, The Faithful won a 6-person tag team match against Young Guns and Denise Alessio to reinforce that advantage. At this event however, Appleseed will be in singles action against Dragon Lee, and you can bet that Lee will be eager to turn the tables in their ongoing feud, though he may be exposed by the fact that his partner, Roland Pascual, is injured and will not be in the building during the show.

In addition to all of this, the growing issues between Dustin David and La Oscuridad will continue as they meet on opposite sides of the ring in a 6-man tag match, former World Champion, Daniel Loiselle will take part in singles action, as will the man who walked out on Loiselle during the pair's tag match at the 4th of July Show, Spike Morgan and there is much more in store for what will surely be a wild night in Beaumont!

6 out of 10- I should really give you a bonus point for predicting a heel turn for either Loiselle or Morgan, though I'm not sure you expected it to come this soon!

I was expecting quick turn but not quite that quick considering who Morgan and Loiselle were facing.

Emilio Suarez & The Kuroki Boys vs. Perry Bryant & The Chivalry

This feels like a good match to give Bryant and Chivalry win over their current rivals

Thomas Appleseed vs. Dragon Lee

With Lee´s partner out and Appleseed having two helpers I don´t think Lee´s recent fortune would switch here.

SPW Mid South Title Match- Friedrich Herzog © & Levi Andrews vs. Joe Boone & Nathan Hayes

With Boone likely keeping the belt (if Herzog or Andrews even get another shot) I think faces are more likely to win here to keep things even.

Daniel Loiselle vs. Danny Cool

Loiselle have started to pick few losses lately but I´m quite sure he´s not going to lose here.

Melinda Bell & Ryo Matsuda vs. Diamanta & Diana Gosselin

Heels get a win over champ.

Spike Morgan vs. Bernie Hughes

Morgan is quickly becoming one of your biggest names and he ain´t dropping the ball here.

La Oscuridad & Double Shot vs. Dustin David, Leroy Disco & Scott Levesque

Double Shot got kind of big win last show even if it was for storyline reasons and they didn´t really have much to do with the win. Still as named team with big momentum win under their belt I´m actually picking them to win here over Disco and Levesque (Oscuridad and David cancel each other´s out so it´s the other four who I´m basing my prediction)

Denise Alessio vs. Consuelo Montero

With small women division, I´m pretty much always going to base my logic on picking heels to win when face champ and vice versa.

Big Z vs. Anderson Ambriz

Thinking this might be another win for Big Z as Ambriz has been mainly tag wrestlers lately, to the point were it actually took me few seconds to remember who he was since I´m so used to just see his tag team name.

Austyn Taylor vs. Beau Joslin

Thinging that Taylor has slighly more going on currently.

8 out of 10- A good score, and I think, certainly with the main event, I went in a different direction than I had previously (and was usually go in)- that is perhaps because of what comes next (which I won't reveal just yet- though it's not a spoiler), that means that I didn't need to maintain the feuds that were ongoing with these acts at the time.

8 out of 10- ditto, good score. I think these last couple of shows have seen things cool off a little in terms of storylines and exciting new matches, but I hope that's all about to change with what is next up- here's a hint- go back to the 2022 schedule that I posted at the beginning of the year.

Well, color me intrigued. Let's get to it then. I do like where the stories are going, and don't worry about it not being, as I can see the buildup toward the future as you continue to build newer stars to pit against the originals. I am just glad I am here for the ride.

SPW Pro Wrestling 29 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

There was a stand out performance from La Oscuridad, once again, in his 6-man tag match alongside Double Shot. In the meantime, Frank Norris made some interesting observations about two of the other matches on the show. He reported back to Don Loomis and Jay Lutter that Levi Andrews was struggling to keep up with the performances of the other men in the Alliance vs. Alliance tag team match, and also that Masao Kobayashi was the weak link in the main event, suggesting that Tetsuyuki Ishibashi had been carrying their recent tag team bouts.

Speaking of Ishibashi, he suffered a cracked tail bone during the main event when Perry Bryant botched a slam and Ishibashi landed awkwardly. Thankfully, Ishibashi was not due to miss any in-ring action as a consequence, but there did appear to be a little bad feeling between he and Bryant after the contest.

News

CdzKKCg.jpg

Pride of Germany's put on their 'Ultimate Force' show on 17th July in front of a crowd of 271 fans in Mainz, Germany, in what was their best show to date. This was almost entirely due to the 38 rated main event that saw Pygmalion Angel defeat Nikolaj Hansen to retain his World Title, his 3rd such defence of the belt. In other notable results from the show, Peter Jelinek held on to his Arena Championship with victory over the debuting Englishman, Roy Spratt in a weak contest, and in the semi-main spot, Marek Wozniak overcame Angelino Romano.

Both in the build up to, and aftermath of Ultimate Force, PoG were in the news for the wrong reasons after a couple of incidents backstage. Firstly, less than a week out from the event, Henning Eriksen walked out on the promotion, apparently unhappy at having only been used at 2 events so far, in matches where on both occasions he came out the loser.

Then, just a week after the show, it was reported in the local newspapers in Germany that Marek Wozniak and Peter Jelinek had come to blows at the Ultimate Force after-show party. Apparently all is not harmonious backstage in the company.

<p>SPW Pro Wrestling 30 Preview</p><p> </p><p>

Here is the preview for SPW Pro Wrestling 30...</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><em>Southern Pro Wrestling debuts in Norfolk, Virginia for SPW Pro Wrestling 30 and the start of a brand new innovation - the Summer Super Tournament! </em></strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p><strong><em>

16 men will compete for victory in a single-elimination tournament where the winner will face the SPW Champion at SPW Octoberfest, with the first round matches taking place here. 8 men were seeded by SPW management and will avoid each other until at least the quarter-final, these men are, former World Champions, Daniel Loiselle and Emilio Suarez, top singles contenders, Friedrich Herzog, Perry Bryant and Spike Morgan, rising star, La Oscuridad and current SPW Tag Team Champions, The Kuroki Boys.</em></strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p><strong><em>

In perhaps the most intriguing of the first round bouts, Emilio Suarez has been drawn against former SPW Tag Team Champion, Sir Anthony Henry. Suarez and Henry were two of the original members of the SPW roster but amazingly, this is a first time singles collision between them, though they have met in tag team action a number of times in the past. While Suarez is one of the favourites going into the tournament, do not count out Henry, who has always been a wily operator between those ropes.</em></strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p><strong><em>

Daniel Loiselle has still yet to receive a rematch against Joe Boone following his controversial disqualification loss to the Champion all the way back in December. Boone has vowed never to give Loiselle another title shot because of Loiselle's failure to give Boone a rematch when he was champion. Loiselle however, can leave all that frustration behind him by winning the Summer Super Tournament, which would force Boone to grant him the match- his first round opponent will be Boone's Alliance stable mate, Nathan Hayes. </em></strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p><strong><em>

Another man who has been eager to get a rematch against Joe Boone is Friedrich Herzog who has been victim to outside interference in both of his recent title shots. Herzog's campaign will begin with a contest against Austyn Taylor who has seen an upturn in form since pairing up with the nefarious Thomas Appleseed, and Herzog would do well to watch his back in this one. </em></strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p><strong><em>

Speaking of Appleseed, he was drawn against one half of the tag team champions, Tetsuyuki Ishiabashi, and could well be one to watch given that he is still undefeated since joining SPW. Ishibashi however, has impressed many observers over the past few months as The Kuroki Boys have reinforced their position as the number 1 tag team around. Ishibashi's partner, Masao Kobayashi meanwhile, will face The Chivalry's Squire Albert Berik which is sure to be a personal battle given the continued enmity between the two teams.</em></strong></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p><strong><em>

In the remaining first round bouts, La Oscuridad will face Scott Levesque, Leroy Disco will take on Perry Bryant and Spike Morgan will battle Dustin David. In addition to all of these bouts, there will also be 2 non-tournament matches involving a number of other stars from SPW- you can only see all of this by being in the building live, so get your tickets today!</em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Before the next match could take place, Joe Boone came to the ring to address the crowd:

0GMbMmW.jpg

"I am not in a particularly good mood right now because there is a conspiracy at hand at this moment to take this title away from me. Firstly SPW have sanctioned the tournament that has begun tonight and decreed that whoever wins will get a match for this belt. Why SPW thinks that Emilio Suarez, Friedrich Herzog or Leroy Disco deserve the chance to get another title match is beyond me- I beat them all on more than one occasion in the last year, and they can't stop me! I made it clear, a long time ago, that I would not give Daniel Loiselle another title shot since I beat him in December, and yet he too, is in the tournament with a chance to force my hand!

As if that wasn't bad enough, SPW officials have informed me they have named Levi Andrews as the number 1 contender after he got a lucky pinfall against me last month, and I will be forced to defend against him in 3 weeks time. I mean, I ask you, has there ever been a less deserving contender to a title than Levi Andrews!? This whole thing is a disgrace and I have got my lawyers on it right now. In the meantime, I know that this will not threaten me because when I face Levi Andrews I will expose him for the undeserving contender he is, and easily overcome a man that could have been a part of my revolution! Unfortunately he was too dumb to see what was good for him! I told him that I had lined up a replacement for Friedrich Herzog and he simply ignored me- it was a treat to see his face when he realised that Spike Morgan was that replacement, one of the brightest talents in this sport! With Morgan on board with myself and Nathan Hayes, the NEW Alliance is set to dominate, just like the old one did- and if you thought I was going to rest there, you've got another thing coming because we're are recruiting for a 4th and final member to make this New Alliance complete!"

Rating: 47

After the match, Levi Andrews and Friedrich Herzog came to the ring and, Levi Andrews spoke to Daniel Loiselle:

jee5VHL.jpg6RNouzl.jpg

"Daniel Loiselle, I know that you have been seeing what has been going on with Joe Boone and us lately. And everybody knows that Joe Boone has been ducking a rematch against you all year. Let me tell you, Boone is going to continue to refuse to give you a World Title shot- don't think that even winning this tournament will be a guarantee that you'll get your chance. We know how Boone operates and he will do anything he can to find a way out of that. But let's just suppose that you do get your shot- you think that Nathan Hayes and Spike Morgan are just gonna stay out of it?

But maybe there is another way. You see me and Friedrich here, we're fighting a war right now with the New Alliance but we need the numbers to win that war because at the moment we're at a deficit. I've come here, because I think you are the kind of man who wants to see Joe Boone taken down, and to offer you a place in our Alliance alongside myself and Friedrich Herzog. What do you say?"

Daniel Loiselle is handed the microphone by Andrews, for his response:

"Levi Andrews, you are right, I have a very strong personal dislike of Joe Boone, and you're damn right I want my title shot against him. Of course it's always been on my mind that he would use his cronies to help him win any title match that we might have and I can't say it wouldn't hurt to have a little back up as an insurance policy against that. I've also got to say that I have been encouraged by some of the things you've been saying and that you've done recently. But all this, assumes that I have forgotten a fairly personal war between me and you two a couple of years ago. Back then, you guys did all the things you're saying that Boone is guilty of now, when you tried to take the title from me. You used the numbers game against me, time and time again, and now you want me to join you? I can tell you right now- I want no part of it, I don't want to replace one Alliance with another, I want rid of both of you for good!"

SPW Pro Wrestling 30 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

The Summer Super Tournament was the brain child of Don Loomis, he had always been keen to have more 'fixtures' in the SPW calendar- annual competitions that would mark a specific time in the year- and this tournament was part of that. It was also a way to get most of the big name wrestlers on to the company's first event in Norfolk, Virginia as SPW took its first steps in the Mid Atlantic region, without giving away something major that would need to be saved for the core audience back in Mississippi.

Unsurprisingly, it was Daniel Loiselle's match that won the honour of match of the night, with a rating of 47 however, Nathan Hayes deserved his fair share of the credit. The match between Thomas Appleseed and Tetsuyuki Ishibashi was also Appleseed's best showing to date, which was very promising as Jay Lutter was extremely high on the character and had plenty of things in his plan for him, in spite of his loss in the match.

News

CdzKKCg.jpg

Pride of Germany's latest show took place on 12th August in Mainz, Germany and was called 'PoG Dirty Livin' 1'. The show, headlined by Pygmalion Angel's defence of the PoG World Title against Peter Jelinek, saw their biggest crowd to date, with 283 fans in the building. For the record, Angel held onto his belt in a 37 rated contest (just 1 rating point lower than the company's previous best, set at Ultimate Force by Angel against Nikolaj Hansen, the month before). In other notable results, Friedrich Herzog went for the PoG National Title against reigning Champion, Berg Andersson, but was defeated by count-out and, in the semi-main position, Marek Wozniak got a singles victory over Bjarni Johansson.

SPW Summer Super Tournament 1922 Night 1 Preview

Here is the preview for SPW Summer Super Tournament 1922 Night 1:

Southern Pro Wrestling are back in Beaumont, Texas for its Super Summer Tournament Night 1 where the quarter finals of this massive competition are set to take place- who will take another step towards a title shot at Octoberfest!?

In their first round matches, Daniel Loiselle easily dispatched of Danny Cool while Spike Morgan defeated Dustin David in a tough contest. Now these men, who have had two previous competitive encounters will face one other to make it through to the final 4. The history between them is complex and began in April when Morgan earned Loiselle's respect by pushing the former World Champion all the way in their number1 contender round robin match- after getting the victory, Loiselle took time specifically to shake his opponent's hand.

In a second match, at SPW Extravaganza, Morgan again ran Loiselle close but ultimately came up short once more. In the aftermath of that one however, Morgan refused to shake Loiselle's hand, despite it being offered again. A month later he apologised for his behaviour but walked out on Loiselle when the two men teamed up on the 4th of July. The reason for that desertion became clear later that night when Morgan helped Joe Boone retain his World Title against Friedrich Herzog and joined Boone's New Alliance. Since that time, Loiselle and Morgan have been heading for a 3rd, much more personal battle in the ring, and at Summer Super Tournament Night 1, they will have their chance!

The winner of that match will face either Emilio Suarez or Squire Albert Berik in the semi final of the tournament. Suarez had to defeat Sir Anthony Henry in his 1st round encounter, while Berik was impressive in victory against Masao Koabayshi. Former World Champion, Suarez, will no doubt go into the match as the favourite, however Berik is a rising star in SPW and this would be the perfect time in his career, to cause an upset.

On the other side of the brackets, Friedrich Herzog will take on Perry Bryant in a match that won't just be for a semi-final place, but also for the SPW Mid South Title, due to the rule that the belt must be defended every time SPW visits the Mid South region. These two fought against each other in both the Number 1 Contender Round Robin over the spring, and then again in the main event of SPW Pro Wrestling 28 in June, with Herzog coming out of both matches with victory. Bryant however will feel like he still has something to prove and now has the opportunity to avenge those losses.

Which ever man makes it through that one will face either SPW Tag Team Champion, Tetsuyuki Ishibashi or, perhaps the lowest ranked individual still in the tournament, La Oscuridad. Both men have been on an upward trajectory over the past 6 months, but neither have had the opportunity that is open to them in this match, with the winner taking their place among the top 4 contenders to the World Title, so this will be an incredibly competitive fight.

There will also be 4 non-tournament matches on the card, as Joe Boone & Nathan Hayes team up to face Levi Andrews and Leroy Disco, Ryo Matsuda faces Diamanta, Bernie Hughes and Danny Cool face off, and Dustin David joins forces with Melinda Bell to battle Sir Anthony Henry and Diana Gosselin. It's a packed night of action, you won't want to miss!

Summer Super Tournament Quarter Final Match- Daniel Loiselle vs. Spike Morgan

Still thinking this is Loiselle´s tournament to win so he goes forward

Summer Super Tournament Quarter Final & SPW Mid South Title Match- Friedrich Herzog © vs. Perry Bryant

Mid South Title being on the line makes me rethink this a bit but I go with my earlier logic that Bryant is the one going forward here. That said, I could easily see being wrong here.

Summer Super Tournament Quarter Final Match- Emilio Suarez vs. Squire Albert Berik

I´m actually going face vs. face for next round as Loiselle and Suarez are good enough to make it work and there´s lots of history in that match so it would likely be more interesting than Loiselle vs. Berik.

Summer Super Tournament Quarter Final Match- Tetsuyuki Ishibashi vs. La Oscuridad

This one depends on the Bryant vs. Herzog match and as was the case with that match, I could also see this one going either way as no matter which one from these two would win, the winner has gotten pretty big win as getting into top 4 in tournament this stacked is certainly one of their bigger accomplishments to the date.

Joe Boone & Nathan Hayes vs. Levi Andrews & Leroy Disco

Boone is the deciding factor here.

Ryo Matsuda vs. Diamanta

Matsuda haven´t won a whole lot so I pretty much see her as jobber.

Bernie Hughes vs. Danny Cool

Could go either way but that six man tag in last show makes me think that Hughes might actually have slighly better future in SPW than Cool

Dustin David & Melinda Bell vs. Sir Anthony Henry & Diana Gosselin

I would still rate Henry over David.

"Tetsuyuki Ishibashi, let me be the first to congratulate you...for nothing. All of your victories are hollow because you lack the faith required to be truly deserving of them. Even that belt that you hold over your shoulder right now is tainted because you have such little faith in you and your partner's own abilities, that you are unwilling to defend it this month."

Ishibashi shot back:

"Appleseed, you know perfectly well that SPW have given me dispensation from defending the tag titles due to me competing in this tournament."

Appleseed interrupted:

"Ah, but a man with faith would not countenance such a thing, and you know it, deep down, that you are a paper champion. If you REALLY want to prove otherwise and show that you are in fact a man of courage, you and your partner would defend those titles tonight against myself and Austyn Taylor."

After a few moments, Ishibashi responded: "You're on!"

"Leroy, thanks for the match tonight my friend, we did well together. You know, you're a good wrestler and you deserve more chances than you have received. I saw you against Joe Boone earlier this year and you had him on the ropes and if not for the way he manipulates the rules and the circumstances in his favour, you might well be standing here as the SPW World Champion right now.

How would you like to come on board with me and Friedrich Herzog and help us neutralise Boone's advantage? My vision of The Alliance has always been a mutually beneficial agreement between men who respect one another and want to ensure they are able to secure a fair chance- and you are someone I respect."

Andrews then offers his hand, Disco considers for a moment before shaking Andrews' hand.

SPW Summer Super Tournament 1922 Night 1 Aftermath

Both Tetsuyuki Ishibashi and La Oscuridad continued to show their quality on the night when, firstly the 2 had the match of the night in their opener, which also became the 5th best match of all time with a rating of 50. Then Ishibashi went on to be the stand out performer in The Kuroki Boys tag team title loss to The Faithful later in the evening. This, along with the good rating that Squire Albert Berik's loss to Emilio Suarez garnered, was proof to Don Loomis that he had a number of options for promotion into the elite category of stars alongside the trio of Suarez, Daniel Loiselle and Joe Boone.

One of the SPW originals who has been struggling as of late is Levi Andrews who was somewhat carried in his tag team match on the night, by partner Leroy Disco. Andrews' performance was not terrible, but with him set to face Boone for the World Title at the next show, it was something for management to keep an eye on. Certainly if it continued, SPW would have to think twice about booking Andrews near the top of the card.

In the after show meeting between Loomis and his two lieutenants, Jay Lutter and Frank Norris, Lutter presented a little study that he had put together, which he called the 'All Time List'. He explained that it was a ranking of all wrestlers by total amounts of rating points that they had achieved during the last 2 and half years since the promotion's opening. The list at the time, looked like this:

SPW Summer Super Tournament 1922 Night 2 Preview

Here is the preview for SPW Summer Super Tournament 1922 Night 2:

The 16 competitors in the Summer Super Tournament have been whittled down to just 4, and now they must battle for overall victory as the Semi Finals and Final of the competition unfold!

Excitement is at fever pitch for the last leg of the tournament with all those remaining desperate to secure victory and a title shot at SPW Octoberfest in 2 months' time. Top of that list is former World Champion, Daniel Loiselle who has been denied any kind of a rematch against the current champ since his disqualification loss to Joe Boone in December. Boone has long since vowed never to grant Loiselle a 2nd chance for the belt but will be unable to do anything about it if Loiselle wins this tournament so this potentially represents the Canadian superstar's best opportunity to earn a title shot for himself.

To do that however, he will have to first overcome the incredibly tough semi-final challenge of Emilio Suarez, his long time rival, and the man who defeated him for the World Title back in February of last year. These two men have had a storied past, meeting each other for the first time back in April 1920, when Suarez, still then under the mask of El Espiritu, went to a 20-minute time limit draw with the World Title on the line. That draw was considered so controversial that it necessitated a rule change that meant all World Title matches from then on would have a 30-minute time limit.

In their 2nd collision, Suarez actually got the victory but was denied the title once more as the win was via count out. It was on their 3rd meeting, at SPW's 1st Anniversary show, when Suarez finally took the belt in what was, at the time, the biggest match in SPW's short history. Since then, while both men have retained a respect for one another, there has always been an undercurrent of tension, which boiled to the surface last year when Daniel Loiselle, attempting to prevent The Alliance from interfering in Suarez's defence of the World Title against Joe Boone at Octoberfest, ended up inadvertently helping Boone, who has been Champion ever since.

Loiselle and Suarez met in their 4th and most recent match, at SPW Pro Wrestling 22 one month later, with Loiselle getting his first victory over the Mexican sensation. That win led to his solitary shot at Boone, at last year's Festive Fury, which Loiselle lost by disqualification, due to the interference of Suarez. Suarez entered the ring and, in full view of the referee, clobbered the Champion with a steel chair to deliberately cause Loiselle to be disqualified, and thus paying Loiselle back for what had happened at Octoberfest.

Since then the two have stayed out of each other's way, voicing their mutual distrust and agreeing not to let things escalate between them, but there will be no avoiding each other at the Summer Super Tournament Night 2! And at the conclusion of this match, whichever man comes out on top will still have another fight on their hands, as they will meet the winner of the 2nd semi-final, between Perry Bryant and Tetsuyuki Ishibashi!

Some are surprised that Ishibashi has made it this far, and it has come at a cost- after Ishibashi's quarter final victory over La Oscuridad, he was shamed into defending his tag team titles, alongside partner, Masao Kobayashi, against The Faithful, who duly took advantage of Ishibashi's fatigued state to win the belts. If Ishibashi is to complete an unlikely victory in the tournament, he'll have to win 2 matches in one night, and so will need to cope better with that fatigue. He'll also need to overcome the ever impressive, Perry Bryant.

Bryant has become a perennial top contender in SPW without ever actually receiving a World Title shot, if he progresses to the final however, he will not be intimidated by the profile of whichever opponent he faces on the other side of the ring, as he holds victories over both Suarez and Loiselle this year, and the one opponent he had previously been unable to overcome, Friedrich Herzog, he finally defeated in the Quarter Final of this very tournament, taking the SPW Mid South Title with him as he did it. Can Bryant take that final step to a World Title shot after months of trying, with triumph in the Summer Super Tournament? Be there to find out!

As if the final rounds of the Summer Super Tournament was not enough, there are also 5 other matches taking place, and the stakes are high! Firstly, if Joe Boone wants to make it to Octoberfest to face the winner of the tournament, he will need to overcome his former stable mate, Levi Andrews. Battle lines were drawn a short while ago when, after Friedrich Herzog won the number 1 contender round robin, he chose to take the World Title shot that was owing to him, against the plans of his Alliance comrade, Boone.

Nathan Hayes helped Boone retain the belt in the match between the two, causing Levi Andrews to object to their actions and join Herzog, splitting The Alliance in two. Boone then recruited Spike Morgan to become part of his New Alliance, while Andrews has since brought in Leroy Disco to join the original Alliance. It was this addition which enabled Andrews to secure a pinfall over the Champion, in tag action when Andrews and Disco teamed against Boone and Hayes, leading SPW to grant him a World Title shot. The war between the two Alliance factions continues, and if Andrews could take the title away from Boone, it would be a major battle won. That war is also at the heart of another tag collision, as Friedrich Herzog will team with Leroy Disco to take on Spike Morgan and Nathan Hayes at the show.

The SPW Women's Championship will also be on the line as Champion, Melinda Bell, defends against Diana Gosselin in a rematch from their collision at the 4th of July Show where Bell picked up a controversial pinfall, when the referee missed the fact that Gosselin had her foot on the rope during the count. Now, Bell has granted Gosselin a second bite of the cherry, it will be interesting to see if she can keep hold of her most prized possession.

There has been a mounting issue between La Oscuridad and Dustin David in recent months, which is also set to be resumed at the show, when they face each other head to head. The issue rose on the 4th of July when, after losing their tempers with each other in a singles encounter, they fought to a double count out, oblivious to the referee's count. Since then they have been on opposite sides of the ring in 6-man tag action, but nothing is yet settled, so their match here could be a wild one!
