It's that time again. With a new game coming out with new images and new workers some are going to be bound to need a makeover. So, let's get things started.

The Goal

 

Have you ever looked at The Minor Annoyance and thought, "Boy, he ugly!"? Well, you're not alone. Here in this thread we make these workers look so much better, like this:

 

 

 

...Yeah, no, still ugly, but shinier now!

 

Also, since the thread for original renders always seems to get lost in the shuffle for months or years at a time this thread is now dual purpose, Worker renders and rerenders. (Note: This thread is not for alts, belts, logos, etc. Those have their own threads.)

 

 

 

Potential Artist info

 

All images in this thread were created with the rendering program DAZ Studio (Free) and Poser (paid) still exists too I guess. Please visit the linked sites and their forums to learn more about the programs. Trell's Render Tutorial (using DAZ Studio 3) can be found HERE, DAZ's New to DS4 Youtube playlist can be found HERE. Free content can be found at Renderosity under Free Stuff and ShareCG (acct required for both). I've provided a Render Starter Kit for new artists to DAZ Studio which includes light sets, render presets, and information on key render settings and links to free content. The Kit can be found HERE.

I don't typically do re-renders, but someone in the Discord mentioned that they were not a fan of the Magnum Kobe in 2016 so I hastily threw this together.

I had the impression none of the ideas mentioned really got confirmed, so we might as well continue like this. But the current way actually has an index, where each of the respective games' thread has renders sorted by author. Or what did you mean by artist index?

 

Anyhow, we should keep discussions about this in the new sticky thread and keep this one for actual render posting.

My thinking was simply to Sticky an index of Artists Threads (similar to mod and diary indexes) and have artists posting on their own threads. I'm thinking of a year down the line it will be much easier to find worker renders and alts.

 

If artists wanted to post additionally on the thread that contains the index in lieu of this thread, everything would be contained.

 

My plan was to set the thread up with The Curator account so anyone could work on it and it won't become reliant on any sole individual to update.

 

That said, I am not an artist. I'm just a mod on this forum who is trying to make it more organized. If the artists prefer a different system, that's fine.

That would be a good idea but as I said my TEW renders are few and I'm not planning on making any more. I gotta check them first if they are still relevant. I also never called myself an artist ever, but I guess I was for WMMA. I think I'm just going to post them in one post so the new players might see it and cry in my bed at the death of my favourite promotions.

 

The new 5SSW renders do... "r0ck". It looks like Adam did go a bit crazy with the redesigns sometimes, but most seem like a good fit for the character and in general I'm happy with most of the changes. And as it's been over a decade since my alst 5SSW game (TEW07), I'm just going to pretend they never looked different. However: he did not use his Gemmei which I personally think is an awesome fit. And Maki? But maybe I'm missing their rerenders doubling for another official render.

 

@willr0ck: could you make a less gimmicky version of Fuyuko Higa? Just without the props? She's been 5ssw asset like forever and they don't use heels, and I just don't see a skull being relevant to the overarching "Perfection" persona. But I guess she IS kind of evil, so there you go.

I’m going through my picture file from 16 and updating it for 20. What would be the best way for me to upload it for others to use if they’re interested?

I'm glad for all the re-renders to be in one spot, but it's just endless into and out of folders.

 

Is there somebody who is considered the best?

 

Any help would rule because I wanna put new pics on probably 3/4 of my rosters.

I struggled with the same issue. I tried copying them into my dropbox but I couldn't get it to work. I just went ahead and downloaded everything into a folder on my hard drive and search it. It is working well so far.

Yes, I saw your lovely description of my ugly and terrible 5 Star renders in the discussion forum. Really makes a guy want to keep making new renders for the community.

Let me tell you a story from a magical time an internet age ago. There once was a website called Photobucket and he was amazing. You could upload files to specific folders and have folders in folders and, here's the best part, he had Tags. You could tag any pictures you uploaded with the worker name and the artists name making searching for specific things a breeze. Things were good, but then Photobucket started seeing all the social media sites and thinking he wanted to be just like them. Photobucket changed, he was all about the socials and stared to hide all his best features like Tags.

 

Then one day Photobucket started smoking that crack and it changed him. He threw away everything good about himself and charged people $500 for a peek. Photobucket quickly hit rock bottom after realizing nobody wanted him anymore. Then he kicked the bucket.

 

TL: DR No. Photobucket used to have everything we needed for a Render Thread gallery, but their new CEO was a greedy prick and killed the site. Nothing else has come along that does what PB used to do. If anybody finds a hosting site that does just let me know, I've tried all the ones I can find (No, google drive, Imgur and flickr aren't good replacements)

Well, just checked my e-mail. Dropbox suspended my public links for excessive traffic. I suppose they aren't technically a file hosting site after all. Either it'll resolve itself or it'll be another solution down the drain.

And before I forget, for my fellow artists a PM made me realize I never updated the readme with the 4.12 starter kit. The 'lighting' is handled by an HDRI.

 

 

 

Dome rotation will change the direction of the light. The stuff in the Tone Mapping section is also used. Environment Intensity would be the lighting strength, though you're probably better off using the exposure settings under Tone Mapping for that.

Willrock, as a man who has been grabbing up renders for these games since day one and spent hours compiling an updated default render folder. I can honestly say you do some amazing work.

 

Just look through my folder and see the number of your renders that I've used. Hell, just look at Japan! In my book you're the go to guy for renders in that area of the game.

 

So let me say thank you for what you do and I for one hope you keep up the great work.
