esteel20
I always felt Merle needed a bit of love, even coming to the end of his ass-kicking career. This is about my fourth or fifth render - and my first render 'based' on someone - so any tips are welcome. Looks awesome! Keep it up. Blackman
That's crazy so a first time render of someone! Has there been some kind of update on the program you guys used? Lots of realistic looking renders recently This is a new generation of character models. The game's were made with a very old model. Now they look more realistic. As for Merle - one of my favorite workers btw - he looks ok. The render is really nice, but as a Merle: I don't know. You definitely got his facial structure right, but it doesn't click with me. What I'd change is his skin tone. He looks hispanic. I'd make it really pale, in line with his Irish heritage. And maybe lower the curve on the brows. @brat99: Really nice Indian renders, but what happened to the background? That a design choice? If applying a post-render filter, do it before you slap it on the background. And am I really one of the only ones who gives some feedback other than "Great!"? I for one would love some feedback as no one ever gives any. If you think it sucks or that it doesn't look at all like the original, please tell me (hopefully a bit more elaborate than that) so I can change things. Nothing wrong with criticism, except if you're being rude. There's of course some things I can't help, like the style. I can't make mine look realistic, but I personally love the comic-style. With 3Delight, most of the time I could just render using the C-verse background as the render background and it cam out fine....did that with these, and apparently the extra detail in Iray caused some issues with the background. Gonna switch to rendering as a png, and then pasting to original background. Thanks again for the comment and the tips!
Jomosensual
Do we know how many renders we'd need for the Indian scene to create itself organically?
drmacbeth
Have I missed anybody having done a Kinnojo Horri re-render?

There is one tagged in ironfist's download by shipshirt, but I believe that was actually his re-render for Koshiro Ino. It works well for Horri, but I didn't know if I had missed someone actually doing one for him. He is a pretty big name that surprisingly hasn't gotten any love.

awesomenessofme1
Do we know how many renders we'd need for the Indian scene to create itself organically? From what I understand, it's not a certain hard number, it's just an issue of needing a decent number to have a healthy scene.

J Silver
Hey I think your dropbox is getting some excessive traffic. . :DIdk, I feel like they'd let me know if that were the case when i download them they're all XycYwp.jpgWelcome to my nightmare Quick question for those re-rendering How long is it taking for the render process. I know previously mine could take a couple of hours. Is it quicker in the newest version of DazStudio? With an RTX 2060 Super and the current DAZ Studio Public build (not sure if the RTX enabled on is the full release yet) usually between 5-15 minutes. With my 680 it was closer to an hour. Before I would get tired and stop them. Make sure to go to Render Settings, select the Advanced tab at the top and ensure your GPU is selected under photoreal mode. Also, Iray only works with Nvidia cards and if you don't have enough VRAM available for the scene it defaults back to CPU only (Which takes forever). On a side note about Iray, does anyone who has been using it for a while have any setting/pre-set recommendations they are willing to share.....most of the renders I've done with Iray are coming out too dark for my tastes (I'm still using JSilver's presets that he shared a long time ago which work great with 3Delight, but I really like the render speed with Iray). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.....The 3Delight ones aren't going to work very well with Iray. I updated the kit for Iray though. You can find the DL below. If your renders are coming out too dark with the Kit's Iray preset go to the Tone Mapping option in Render Settings and increase Film ISO just a little. The read me says " Copy lights folder to your DAZ Studio install directory (ex. User/My Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library)" However I can't find this? Just downloaded it and mine is DAZ3D/DAZ3DIM1 or DAZStudio4/ or PostgresQL CM5 I open dazstudio 4 and dont see studio/ my libray. Any help? You're looking at the Install Manager download directory. If you open Studio and go into Edit > Preferences and click the Content tab you'll see Content Directory Manager at the bottom. From there go open up the tree to DAZ Studio formats and you'll see where the default install directory is, you'll also be able to add one if needed. This is nice and all, but are we really doing this? Putting everything in one giant thread? Request, alt's, new renders, rerenders,...The only thing's missing is promotion logos and title belts. We're definitely not. Was I not clear enough about it only being worker renders and rerenders? Should I make it clearer? I made it clearer. Since we're on the topic, would it be a bad idea to start an overall requests thread or is that basically the function this will serveThey've never worked out very well in the render threads. A lot of people just requesting elaborate renders and 25 at a time at that. If anyone wants to make a request thread though go right ahead. If it keeps this thread from getting clogged up with requests that'll never get done I really don't see any issue. Who could possibly take offense to any contribution? (unless it's a Hitler render )Yeah, who would ever render Hitler...? Anways, India. Look, Dropbox, It's not me, it's you. I can't be with you anymore, I'm with Mega now. Oh, yeah, I took a look at Mega.nz and it looks like it'll work, possibly better than Dropbox did, The Possible Render Download Center Replacement (Pending) (Take a look, let me know what you guys think. Mega, unlike Dropbox is meant as a public file hosting platform)

Blackman
Yeah, who would ever render Hitler...? What was his "superpower"? And I don't get why mine render so fast nowadays. My PC isn't exactly brand new. Maybe I disabled a quality setting or something, but I have rendering quality on. Very nice. If you want some critique, my only comment would be her pupils look a bit odd - shiny maybe? That is true. The thing is I uses JSilver's environmental lightning for that render and it reflects a little too much on the eyes, so I had to resort to reduce the cutout opacity of the cornea to 0. Took me very long to reduce as post-work on a 150x render is just... not possible. Not an experienced rendering person and I can't make HDR-files, so I'm clueless on how to enhance the eyes. Here's one where I smudged the eyes a bit, but I doubt it changes much:

Like I said, I do like it and, in this case, the eyes were pretty minor. There are some cases where the eyes ruin otherwise good renders, for me anyway. Blackman
Thanks for the help in any case. Here's a throwback to Melody's original render, which is annoyingly still stuck in my head. It was weird, because it makes her look black and heelish. The current one is of course perfectly fine, though it makes her look a little too "hot" for her stats. I recommend the zoomed-out version JSilver uploaded at some point. I really don't like renders that are cut off at the forehead (unless they are giants or the relatively biggest workers).
