NOTBPW: The Marquee Says Wrestling

Recommended Posts

In an attempt to explore more wrestlers than just the handful I've used in my MAW diary, I wanted to try my hand at one of the bigger promotions. I looked around and it seems no one has really done a diary (or at least not for awhile) with NOTBPW so I figured I'd give it a go. Enjoy! I was surprised when the call came in the first place. The legendary Dan Stone calling me for booking help? First off, I'm not even Canadian. I'm from Boston. But somehow he'd heard that I was a smart kid with some decent ideas and he wanted to shake things up in his promotion. "We've become stagnant and I want to get the fans excited again," he said to me in our first meeting. "The company is a cult promotion at best but I think we can go national...hell, I'd love to see the look on Richard Eisen's face if we could become Global and give them a run for their money." That was too good of an opportunity to waste. I get to the Great White North a few days before the weekly taping of NOTBPW Championship Wrestling. Dan Stone Jr., perrenial top babyface, was wrapping up a feud with Mammoth and this was to be the blow off match. Damn right it was! Mammoth is awful and if this company wants to skyrocket, we'll need to focus less on the Mammoth's of the world and more on the atheletic action that I think wrestling fans are craving. First order of business....we need to beef up the roster, especially with heels for the almighty Stone's to take on.

My first day on the job, I sent out offers to about 7 wrestlers, with Tim Westybrook, Owen Love and Joey Poison being the most important of the bunch. One of my road agents, Craig Prince, has already been contacted by SWF to work exclusively for them. Seems they might have gotten wind of Mr. Stone's plans to take them head on. I can't begrudge Craig for taking the gig and more money for a written deal. I'll try in good faith to negotiate with hin, but I'm not too optimistic. No pending offers have been negotiated as of my first television taping with the company, so as of right now our roster is what I started out with. Once I hear back on some of the offers I will list the roster and heel/babyface affiliations.

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling 15,000 fans at Newfoundland Rugby Grounds --------------------------------------------------- The show opens with Tommy London hyping that tonight we'll see the monster Mammoth challenge Dan Stone Jr. for the NOTBPW Canadian Title! B The Kelowna Playaz (Craig Green/Gregg Boone) d. Demolition Crew (Alysian Scotsfield/Derek Frost) to retain the NOTBPW Canadian Tag Team Titles Green and Boone have something as a team but they are still pretty green. As expected, Scotsfield bitched about doing the job but Frost was professional and has a lot going for him. Pretty short, formula tag. C As the Playaz celebrate, Dean and Dallas McWade charge the ring with axe handles and beat the living hell out of the babyface champions. Dean delivers a vicious running boot to both men, knocking them out cold. C He grabs the mic: "You can't deny us any longer! We are the only tag team in this promotion, hell in this country, worth a damn and we want what's ours!!" C Backstage, Helen Wheels (playing a bitchy businesswoman) introduces her new charges, RK Hayes and Shingen Miyazaki...the Foundation. C We go back to the announcer's booth where Tommy London shows the new Women's Title that will be contended for at Winter War. B Junko Hayakawa/Rebecca Petty d. Tamara McFly/Victoria Stone Decent tag action with the McFly/Stone being considered a SuperTeam, so this came off as somewhat of an upset. Junko got the nod and should be built up to be a strong Women's Division competitor. Finish came when she speared Victoria, knocking the wind out of her and pinning her. C+ Backstage, Jana Marie Bowen is about to be interviewed regarding the Women's Division when Helen Wheels and the Foundation interrupt. Wheels slaps Jana and orders her men to hold her. Before any damage can be done, Stone and Kenko make the save! D Back in the ring, The Natural has the mic: "Face it, you are all the luckiest people on the planet at this very moment. Because you people in this arena have the privelage of basking in my greatness. Sean McFly, you're about to find out what all the fuss is about." C+ Sean McFly drew with The Natural when the 30 minute time limit expired Really solid match with McFly calling it on the...well, um, fly. McFly might be the best pure wrestler in the world today and he has many future title reigns in him from what I can see. Natural is a solid upper card heel and these two clicked nicely. A rapid series of nearfalls at the end really brought the crowd to it's feet as the time limit approached. B Tommy London brings out Cliff Wilson for an interview, but Wilson's face is covered in paint and he is wearing a black duster jacket: "Tommy London, Cliff Wilson is dead. He could not get the job done. The Dark Angel rises from his remains like the Phoenix and will deal with the great cancer of Canadian wrestling. That cancer is the Stone family and it is my destiny to remove it. The prophecy is written and let it begin tonight!" A Dark Angel d. Jeremy Stone after outside interference Wow, what a match. Wilson's Dark Angel gimmick really drew some heat and Jeremy Stone is amazing to watch. Stone dominated early on with mat holds and technical manuevers. Angel started taking over and Harry Wilson ran out and interfered allowing Angel to hit the Reverse DDT for the win. A* After the match, the Wilsons beat down Jeremy as the crowd goes insane. They "crucify" him in the ropes and proceed to beat him to a bloody pulp until DAN STONE JR. charges the ring and chases them off! A Mammoth comes to the ring as Dan helps his brother get carried out and we are into our main event.... Dan Stone Jr. d. Mammoth to retain the NOTBPW Canadian Title Stone just beat the hell out of Mammoth and pinned him in about 4 minutes. Total burial. B Dan grabs the mic: "You want to make this personal, fine, you made it personal. I'm challenging YOU for my title at Winter War. Let's make it personal!" A* Overall Show: B Notes: Well I have to be happy about that for my first show booking this promotion. As you can see, my philosophy was "heat, heat and more HEAT". The Stones are so dominant that I wanted to really get some heat on the heels and get some excitement back again. I think this is a good start.

Good stuff so far, although I'm surprised RK Hayes has been put in what sounds like a midcard team when you're so short of heels, his bad ass streetfighter persona always seemed like a natural enemy for the technical Stone boys. Good signing with Bloodstone though, he's a future world champion.

Actually, I was originally going to have Shingen and Hayes go after the Stones but then the whole Dark Angel "Prophecy" storyline captured my imagination and I went off on a tangent with that and have it planned out for a few months lol. I like Hayes though and I definitely plan to keep The Foundation in the upper mix, maybe also using them to get some other babyfaces ready for prime time. Kind of the same way I'm using Angel to elevate the heels he's going to have in the Prophecy.

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling 5,000 fans at Waterloo University Arena in Ontario ---------------------------------------------------- Mr. Stone seemed very happy with last week's show and the plans I had headed into the future so this thing looks like a go. I'm excited about the recent signings as well as fully utilizing the talent already on staff. One of the KEY things I'm going to do is keep Mr. Stone off camera. Every decision by the NOTBPW Championship Committee will come through Tommy London and we will only see the senior Stone for the most important of angles. Dark Match: Demolition Crew d. Call to Action (Mainstream/Strong) Strong and especially Mainstream looked pretty good in their debut in the promotion. Derek Frost has some serious momentum and I need to find something for him to do to ascend the card. The heels pounded the babyfaces with Mainstream taking some nice bumps. Frost got the wing. C- The Dark Angel comes to the ring, accompanied by Harry Wilson, as jeers shake the arena: "I warned you all of the coming storm last week. No one wanted to listen and now Jeremy Stone is home, nursing his battle wounds. Armageddon is coming and the prophecy has already been written. My brother Harry has joined my ranks and soon there will be others as we run rampant over this promotion. Dan Stone, you will lose the Canadian Title to me for it is already written. You can't stop it." B Dan Stone Jr charges from the locker room as the crowd roars!! A The two men start throwing stiff fists as the entire locker room clears out and seperates the two. The crowd chants "KILL HIM!" and "LET THEM FIGHT!!" B We go backstage to an interview with new manager Adrian Garcia and his charge Johnny Bloodstone: "They call my man, Johnny Bloodstone, the Submission Demon. Look carefully, because you are witnessing the future of professional wrestling. Bloodstone is going to roll over everyone." C+ Johnny Bloodstone d. Brendon Idol Bloodstone is a technical marvel and should skyrocket to the main events. Idol is playing the Underdog bumping face and made Bloodstone's offense look really strong. Bloodstone with the submission in this virtual squash. C+ Backstage, Duane and Edd Stone console their brother Dan and convince him to go home for the night: Focus on Winter War and we'll handle Angel and his brother tonight. Let us take care of it." Dan agrees and The Stones will take on Dark Angel and Harry Wilson. B The Kelowna Playaz are in the ring as Craig Green preps for his match with Dean McWade: "McWades, if you want a shot at these Candian Tag Titles you didn't need to jump us from behind like bitches. You just need to bring it. So make sure you do at Winter War" C- Craig Green d. Dean McWade Ok action although McWade complained about doing the job for Green. Green took the match with the VIP Pass. C+ Dark Angel approaches Adrian Garcia and Johnny Bloodstone and congratulates them on their win. He offers them a chance to join him in the Prophecy and he'll expect an answer by the end of tonight. C+ Shingen Miyazaki d. Kenko Takemitsu Singen is a stud and kicked Kenko's ass. RK Hayes and Helen Wheels were present at ringside. C Jana Marie Bowen appears in the aisle and demands to face Helen Wheels as a receipt for last week's unprovoked attack. C- Helen Wheels d. Jana Marie Bowen Helen Wheels popped her heels off and jumped right in the ring as the two women brawled to start things off. Jana Marie tried valiantly but was overcome by Wheels viciousness. Wheels wins with the Flying Fist Drop. E A video is shown detailing the workout schedule of "Iron Man" Tim Westybrook. He will make his debut at Winter War. C Sean McFly d. Joey Poison Decent match although Poison has a little ways to go before really making an impact in NOTBPW. McFly is as smooth as anyone in the world right now and won it with the Delorean Driver. The Natural was watching the match from the entranceway. C+ The Natural grabs the mic: "I took you to the limits last week McFly and I want a rematch at Winter War. I know I'm better than you and I aim to prove it!" B- Duane Stone and Edd Stone are on their way to the ring when Tom Townsend tries to approach them for a quick word. They are all business and push right past him. B The Prophecy d. The Flying Stones after outside interference Really hot match with the crowd popping for every offense Duane or Edd got. Johnny Bloodstone interfered (apparently giving a physical answer to Angel's question) and allowed Dark Angel to hit the Descent into Hell for the win. B Overall Show: B- Notes: That show seemed to boost us a little in Ontario so that's a good thing. Some of the matches didn't turn out as great as I was hoping but all of the Winter War angels fell into place nicely. Not too shabby for only two weeks of buildup :) Already signed for Winter War Canadian Title Match: Dan Stone Jr (c) vs. Dark Angel Canadian Tag Titles: Kelowna Playaz (c) vs. McWade Bros. Sean McFly vs. The Natural Duane Stone vs. Johnny Bloodstone Tamara McFly vs. Victoria Stone vs. Junko Hayakawa vs. Rebecca Petty to determine the vacant Women's Title. Tim Westybrook will also debut plus much, much more!!!

NOTBPW Winter War 7,111 fans at Ottawa Rams Stadium in Ontario ----------------------------------------------------- We're still awaiting news on negotiations with North America Prime Pay Per View so this show is still just a regular monthly super show. Pre-Show: Junko Hayakawa d. Victoria Stone, Tamara McFly and Rebecca Petty to win the vacant NOTBPW Women's Title Junko is being pushed as a monster female heel and really carrying herself well. Victoria and Tamara had a miscommunication and started arguing and took each other out of the match, allowing Junko to sneak attack Rebecca Petty and score the pin to win the title. C Joey Poison cut a promo and stated that he is going to set this promotion on it's ear. C+ Pre-Show: Joey Poison d. Brendon Idol Well fought match that saw both men get in some impressive offensive. Once we re-establish the Unlimited Action title, Idol and Poison should be strong challengers in that division once their credibility is built up. C- The main show opens with Tommy London and Tom Townsend hyping the huge Stone-Angel main event tonight. B+ They also state that Jeremy Stone is still injured and he won't be appearing tonight. A* No sooner do the words leave London's lips, Jeremy's music hits and he comes out to the ring (still looking beat up and sporting cuts and bruises). "There's no way I'm sitting on the sidelines tonight. Harry Wilson, why don't you take me on and lets see what you can do when my back isn't turned!" B The Demolition Crew d. Call to Action Not as good as their dark match from last week, but Frost looks good. Alysian is a pain in the ass to deal with but for right now this is a good, solid mid card team. Mainstream and Strong are paying their dues but I can see potential in this team. D Adrian Garcia accepts Jeremy's challenge on behalf of Harry Wilson. Garcia is the mouthpiece for The Prophecy. C+ Garcia and Dark Angel also bring out Steven Parker, a youngster that Angel trained himself. "The circle is finally complete. The end is at hand." B Steven Parker d. Edd Stone Quite a debut for Parker getting a win over the youngest Stone sibling. Edd isn't quite the competitor his brothers are and his penchant for the sauce and the ladies isn't helping any. Parker looked good and is wearing a partial face mask. Expect him and Harry Wilson to team. Parker won with his feet on the ropes. C We go to video of the McWade's attack on the Kelowna Playaz from two weeks ago. C The McWade Bros. d. The Kelowna Playaz by countout; Playaz retain the NOTBPW Canadian Tag Team Titles The McWades are bruisers and they just beat down the faces to get some good heat. Gregg Boone looked a little sloppy out there. The McWades left the Playaz laying outside the ring for the countout win. C Mammoth cuts a promo on Tim Westybrook: "I can't believe that this company is focusing so much attention on Tim Westybrook. I'm gonna squash him tonight and tomorrow morning the talk will all be about Mammoth!" C- Tim Westybrook d. Mammoth Pretty much a squash as Mammoth can only last a few minutes. It was a showcase for Westybrook's power as he hoisted the giant over his head and slammed him to the mat. C- Adrian Garcia promised that Johnny Bloodstone would make Duane Stone tap tonight! C+ Johnny Bloodstone d. Duane Stone Great technical match as Bloodstone really hung in with Duane. Garcia interfered liberally and some brass knucks KOed Stone to allow Bloodstone to slap on the Demon's Head crossface hold for the "submission" win (Stone was out cold and couldn't respond) B The Natural comes to the ring and taunst Sean McFly: "Helloooooo....McFly!?!?! Haha I've always wanted to say that. Tonight I'm going to prove just how good I am and how overrated you are." B The Natural d. Sean McFly after outside interference from Owen Love McFly carried the Natural to a really solid 3 3/4 star affair. Looking to win the match with the Delorean Driver, Love made his NOTBPW debut and attacked McFly after a ref bump. Natural then nailed the Piledriver for the win. The announcers revealed who Love was to the fans B We go to video of the Prophecy attacking and bloodying Jeremy Stone. B Jeremy Stone d. Harry Wilson by submission Stone showed a killer instinct we haven't seen out of him before and wrestled like a man possessed. Wilson held his own and is coming along nicely but finally succombed to the Stone Hold. A After the ring clears we head right into our Main Event: Dark Angel d. Dan Stone Jr. to win the NOTBPW Canadian Title In a scene similar to Ivan Kolloff defeating Bruno Sammartino for the WWF World Title, the Ontario fans were stunned to silence when Dark Angel scored a pinfall over the hometown hero and took the belt. My agents tell me these two don't have great chemistry in the ring and they felt the bout was a little awkward, but I thought it was great as the emotion and heat really added to it. I may have to limit the number of rematches I put these two in to keep it special. Angel scored a surprise Fallen Angel Moonsault to win the match. A Overall Show: B+ Notes: The entire second half of the card met all expectations and fans are really buying into Dark Angel and the Prophecy as legit threats to the Stone legacy. Despite the awkward chemistry in the main event, I'll keep to my plans and just minimize their actual matches together.

Well I can't have the babyfaces win all the time ;) haha That was actually done to introduce Owen Love and give Sean an excuse for the loss. It will also set up a new tag team at the next TV taping (well two, if you count Natural and Love). One thing I've found in NOTBPW is that after you remove the Stones...the babyface side is pretty thin. Especially in tag teams. So that's one of the things I'm working on. I just signed two wrestlers that are not usually a team but I will be teaming up to help with that issue.

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling Week 3, December 2005 4,610 fans at Molson Palais des Sports in Quebec ------------------------------------------------- Dark Match: Junko Hayakawa d. April Appleseed After booking this show I realize I didn't feature the women's division at all, so Junko's first title defense comes on the dark match portion. Not to auspicious a debut for the division. Junko looked good and April held her own. C- Craig Green and Gregg Boone cut a promo on the McWades: "We ain't through with you yet, dawgs. We give you as many title shots as you can take and beat your ass everytime." C Dark Match: Duane Stone d. Alysian Scotsfield Just a match to get Duane back some heat after jobbing to Bloodstone at Winter War. Stone used a high flying aerial attack and took Scotsfield apart. A Tommy London and Tom Townsend kick off the broadcast by announcing the new Candian Champion Dark Angel. Video is shown of his win as London speaks in very sombre tones about how Dan Stone Jr lost the belt. A Dan Stone Jr. comes to the ring for a promo and apologizes to the fans for letting them down: "I failed you, I know that. But I intend to make it up to each and every one of you by taking that title back. My dad used to tell me that a champion is not defined by never falling...he's defined by how many times he can pick himself up after falling. I intend to pick myself back up and get that Canadian Title back tonight! Dark Angle, I want me rematch!" A* Derek Frost d. Erik Strong Frost beat up Strong and Strong looked really good bumping. Frost has a lot of potential and might need to be moved away from Alysian and their tag team. C- We cut to the backstage where Adrian Garcia and Helen Wheels are seen talking. They notice the camera and take off. C+ In the ring, Sean McFly has the mic: Owen Love...Natural. You guys think you got something over on me at Winter War. Maybe you did. Maybe I can't take on both of you by myself, I might need a little help. So if you've got the stones, why don't you two team up and I'll find myself a partner and we'll get it on tonight." C In the back, Adrian Garcia and Dark Angel cut a promo: "In my contract it stipulates that I have right of refusal up to 30 days to defend my Canadian Title. So I am excersising that right tonight. No rematch for you. However, if you want to take on RK Hayes and can beat him, which is highly unlikely, then I'll give you a shot next week. We'll see just how many times you can pick yourself up from falling." B+ Johnny Bloodstone (w/Adrian Garcia) d. Mainstream Hernandez The Submission Demon is really clicking as a top heel and he just took apart the fun loving Mainstream. His Crossface finisher is getting over as a feared hold. B- All four Stone family members are present backstage for a promo. Dan speaks: "Angel, you and your rag tag group think you can just do whatever you want in this promotion. You may have the upper hand now, but in the long run the Stones will prevail. We're family and blood is thicker than whatever it is that holds your God awful group together. I'll take Hayes tonight and when I put him away, I'm coming after you...we all are." B+ The Natural and Owen Love are in the ring and they accept McFly's mystery tag challenge. C Sean McFly comes to the aisle: "I'm glad you accept because the match is right now. Oh, and my partner? TIM WESTYBROOK!!!" C+ Sean McFly & Tim Westybrook d. The Natural & Owen Love Great match as Westybrook's power contrasts with McFly's technical expertise. This coud be a breakout team. Natural and Owen Love work a great old school heel team style and use a lot of double team manuevers. Westbrook hit a thunderous powerslam for the win on Natural. B Helen Wheels and RK Hayes hype the main event. "My man is from the streets, he's the real deal. He's going to axe kick your face through the mat!" B Dan Stone Jr. d. R.K. Hayes to earn a Canadian Title shot Fantastic match as Hayes got the early advantage with his brawling tactics. He got some color on Stone about halfway through after ramming his head into the steel ring post. This got a lot of heat from crowd. Stone fought back and used a series of German Suplexes to weaken Hayes. He finished the match off with the Fisherman Suplex for the win in 30-odd minutes. A Dark Angel came to the entranceway and Stone got on the top turnbuckle as the two men had a staredown. A* Overall Show: B Notes: We're not super over in Quebec so this show really helped us in this region. The Prophecy-Stones feud continues to rage on and it seems to have captured the imagination of the NOTBPW faithful. Big news as we just inked a deal with North American Prime Pay Per View and, starting with January's Big City Brawl we'll be live on ppv in Canada and the United States!!

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling (Week 4, December 2006) 1,000 fans at Moose Jaw Centre in The Prairies ------------------------------------------------------ Dark Match: Tamara McFly d. Rebecca Petty Tamara, while not quite the worker her brother is, put on a good show. Petty is young and inexperienced but she held her own with McFly. Eventually, a Tamara-Victoria match could do some business if booked correctly. C- Duane and Edd Stone cut a promo on The Prophecy. Nothing really special as neither is too hot on the mic. C The Flying Stones d. The Prophecy (Steven Parker/Harry Wilson) This being the first teaming of Wilson and Parker I put it on the pre-show. Good thing as I got the dreaded "no chemistry" message. Shoot. Parker might not be ready for "prime time" as it stands anyways and might need to be replaced in the Prophecy. Edd took the win here on Parker. C+ We open the broadcast with highlights of the Dan Stone Jr-RK Hayes match from last week. A Tommy London and Tom Townsend hype that, per stipulations of last week's match, we'll see Stone take on Canadian Champion Dark Angel tonight in a rematch for the title! A A graphic is shown hyping The Kelowna Playaz defending the Canadian Tag Titles against the McWade Bros. tonight. C The McWade Bros. d. The Kelowna Playaz to win the NOTBPW Canadian Tag Team Titles Good brawl as the McWades are teaching the Playaz some other aspects of the game. McWades used the ever present axe handles to KO Gregg Boone and take the win and the straps. C+ The McWades aren't done yet, though as the proceed to beat the hell out of The Playaz after the match in celebration of their win! C Tommy London gets word in his headset that there is a problem in the back and we cut back there to find Dan Stone Jr. unconcious and laying in a pool of blood. Paramedics come out and the Stone family looks on concerned as he is taken to an ambulance. A* Owen Love d. Brendon Idol We go back to the ring as everyone is understandably shaken. This is a basic squash with Idol getting in some offense, but not a ton. Love looks really smooth in the ring. C- Jeremy Stone comes to the ring with a head full of steam. "Angel I know you attacked my brother because you're afraid to face him tonight. Now that you made sure he couldn't wrestle, you aren't getting the night off...I want a piece of you morbid son of a bitch!" A Backstage, Helen Wheels and RK Hayes cut a promo stating how pissed they are that Stone beat Hayes last week and woe to the rest of the NOTBPW locker room. C- R.K. Hayes d. Stone Yoshikawa Hayes just went in and laid the smack down on the young Stone. He got his heat back and is headed onto bigger things. Originally I was going to book Hayes and Shingen against Stone and Kenko but the heels are too good for that and I thought of another feud to book them in. RK with the Axe Kick C+ We go to video of the situation between Sean McFly and The Natural B Sean McFly d. The Natural McFly finally got his win over the The Natural in this 20 minute match. The Natural has already improved a great deal with this short program and should be a future headliner. McFly was a technical marvel and put on a clinic. He hit the Delorean Driver to blow off this mini feud. B Dark Angel denies any wrong doing and says that no one in the Prophecy was involved in the attack on Dan Stone Jr. but he'll gladly take the chance to beat Jeremy one more time. B Dark Angel d. Jeremy Stone by DQ to retain the NOTBPW Canadian Title These two seem incapable of putting on anything but a five star match! Stone came out angry as hell and his hotheaded temper got the best of him as he refused to let go of the Stone Hold while Angel was in the ropes. The ref tried to pull him off and Stone turned around and decked the referee, earning the DQ. Angel was helped out of the ring by Adrian Garcia and had a wry smile on his face as the show ended. His mind games are working. A* Overall Show: B+ Notes: Another A* effort from Jeremy and Dark Angel as this storyline is getting A* reviews from all involved. Fans didn't seem too upset that Dan Stone didn't get his rematch tonight and it will build heat for their 2/3 Falls rematch at Big City Brawl live on pay per view!!

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling (week 1, January 2006) 1,000 fans at Langley Civic Centre in British Columbia ------------------------------------------------------- Dark Match: Steven Parker d. Brendon Idol Decent showing from two young rookies. Idol has amazing aerial ability and Parker tried to ground him. Parker with the Future Shock. E Alysian Scotsfield cut a promo bragging about his Veteran of the Year award: "It's about time someone in this God forsaken sport acknowledged me and how great I am. This company has held me back since day one!" C- Dark Match: Sudden Impact d. The Demolition Crew Got the dreaded "no chemistry and timing all over the place" for the team of Human Arsenal and Steve Flash. Still, they put in a good match for a debut agains the perpetual test of Scotsfield and Frost. Flash is an all around great wrestler and I'm anxious to utilize him more than he's ever been thus far. C- We open up the broadcast with the announcement that Dan Stone Jr. is still hurt from last week's mystery attack but will return to action next week. In the meantime, a 2 out of 3 falls rematch for the Canadian Title will take place at the first ever NOTBPW ppv: Big City Brawl! A* We go to a video showing highlights of the epic struggle between Jeremy Stone and Dark Angel over the title last week. Especially highlit was Jeremy letting his temper get the best of him and costing him the match. A* Backstage, Duane and Jeremy talk about the match. Duane tries to give his elder brother some advice and Jeremy kind of blows it off, but says he knows what he did wrong and it won't happen again. A Tim Westybrook d. Joey Poison Westybrook's undefeated streak continues with a strong match over Joey Poison. Poison tried to use his speed but Westybrook's conditioning is such that he can't be tired out and then he unleashes his awesome power for the win. C The McWades come to the ring for their non-title match: "We told you we were gonna whup those little prissie boys. Go back to your nightclubs sons, you ain't got what it takes." C The McWade Bros. d. Call to Action Call to Action is really catching on as a fun babyface act and they may be in for a push later in the year if they keep up their strong performances. The McWades just love to brutalize the youngsters and worked a snug, stiff match. Running boot to the face for the pin. C As The McWades celebrate their win, the Kelowna Playaz charge the ring and show uncharacteristic toughness in jumping the tag champs and leaving them laying to a huge pop. C A graphic is shown hyping the main event tonight: 6 Man action with Jeremy, Edd and Duane Stone vs. Dark Angel, Johnny Bloodstone and Harry Wilson. B Victoria Stone d. April Appleseed Stone looked fantastic in this match as she gears up for a run at the Women's Title. C Victoria grabs the mic: "Junko I'm coming after you and I'm going to get that title." When Tommy London pressed her for a comment on her brothers' situation with The Prophecy, she simply stated "no comment...that's their affair and I have my own things to deal with". B- Helen Wheels hypes Shingen Miyazaki and states that he will have no problem defeating Sean McFly tonight. C- Sean McFly d. Shingen Miyazaki McFly is on a roll right now although he hasn't had that kickass breakout match yet. Shingen gave him a run for the money in this 25 minute feature bout but the Deloreon Driver proved to be too much. B- After the match, RK Hayes got in Sean McFly's face and the two started jawing at each other. Not much could be heard but it looked like Sean said something like "anytime, anyplace". B- A graphic announced that Sudden Death (Steve Flash and Human Arsenal) will debut on NOTBPW Championship Wrestling next week! B- The Stones d. Dark Angel, Johnny Bloodstone and Harry Wilson Fantastic action and every match in this feud has really been something special. Lots of brawling and one very impressive high flying exhange between Duane and Dark Angel leads to believe a match between the two might be something. Bloodstone had the upper hand on Jeremy, but his ****iness allowed Stone to reverse a leghold into the Stone Hold for the tapout win. A Overall Show: B Notes: The Canadian economy is in the dumper but we've really been pushing hard with lots of advanced advertising on shows. Tonight's was a sellout so we were very pleased. I'm concerned about the lack of chemistry and timing on the part of Sudden Impact, but I think I can work with them to make them at least a decent undercard tag team and possible champions. I'm still waiting to find that breakout team though that can elevate the tag titles to Main Event status. I've kept the other belts out of the Stones-Prophecy feud for fear of having too much in one storyline, but a Flying Stones tag title reign sounds good to me now :)

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling (week 2, January 2006) 4,826 fans at Waterloo University Arena in Ontario -------------------------------------------------- Dark Match: The Foundation (Hayes/Miyazaki) d. Yoshikawa & Takemitsu RK and Shingen work well as a team and looked impressive going over the young team of Stone and Kenko. The youngsters held their own and these two teams should be nice additions into the tag division. B- The live broadcast opens with a graphic hyping the return of Dan Stone Jr. tonight! B+ We then go to video highlights of last week's 6 man tag main event. B Edd Stone comes out to a big pop for a rare singles promo: "You gotta excuse me, I'm nursing a mad hangover right now..." C+ Before he can even get out anything substantial, The Prophecy storms the ring and lays in a 5 on one beating until Duane, Jeremy and Dan Stone charge in and chase the heels off with steel chairs. B- Dan Stone Jr. grabs the mic: "I don't need any formal reintroduction tonight. I'm back and I know it was you Angel, who attacked me. I can't prove it but I know in my heart it was your gang of thugs you coward. I don't care who it is from your group but I want a piece tonight!!" A Sudden Impact d. The Demolition Crew Flash and Arsenal got the "no chemistry" rating but still put in a decent showing against Scotsfield and Frost. Arsenal hit some impressive suplexes while Flash used the top rope to his advantage. C A video hyping the Angel-Stone Jr. 2/3 Falls rematch at Big City Brawl is shown. A* Owen Love (w/The Natural) d. Jack Giedoryc Love was taking it to Jack with some really smooth technical moves. He got a little ****y and Jack started fighting back, until The Natural interfered and helped Love score the win. C- After the match, Love and Natural laid in the boots to Giedoryc, not liking that he had a good showing. Out from the back comes Joey Poison to make the save. The announcers were confused as to why he would be making the save for this newcomer. (Poison's face turn went horribly) C- Backstage, Dark Angle pulls Steven Parker aside to inform him that he is going against Dan Stone tonight. "It would be wise for you not to disappoint me" B Dan Stone Jr. d. Steven Parker (w/Adrian Garcia) Stone looked amazing out there and carried Parker to a really well worked match. Garcia interfered liberally to try and give Parker an advantage, but the "Future" was no match for the gem of the Stone family crown and succumbed to the Fisherman Plex. B Backstage, RK Hayes demands a match with Sean McFly at Big City Brawl. "I want to see what all the fuss is about"C- Johnny Bloodstone comes to the ring and demands a match with Jeremy Stone: "I never tapped out last week! That ref was on the Stone family payroll! Get your ass out here and face me like a real man!" B+ Jeremy Stone and Johnny Bloodstone fight to a double countout Jeremy Stone continues his amazing slate of matches and if he keeps up this pace he may be a strong contender for Wrestler of the Year. He and Bloodstone work really well together and this one was an unhinged brawl for 20 minutes. The referee finally lost control and counted both men out. A* Stone and Bloodstone refused to answer the bell and continued brawling into the crowd as officials and wrestlers poured out of the locker room to seperate the two men. A Overall Show: B+ Notes: While Dan Stone Jr may be the most pushed family member, Jeremy is proving to be the workhorse with 3 five star matches in recent months. A World Title reign has to be in his future. Poison's turn was disappointing as was the lack of chemistry from Sudden Impact. The tag division still remains one of the weaker points of the promotion.

Great read! This is another must read diary on here. A little off topic but did you drop a size after your first show? Every game I start as NOTBPW i drop after my first show regardless of show rating or where it's held becasue of the not having enough wrestlers and it hurting my overness.

Hey thanks!! Check out my MAW diary as well if you're into the whole diary thing! I love the feedback! I did drop to Cult after the first show. I think it's inevitable because of how close the tv taping is to the game starting. The nice thing though is you drop down, hire some people and have a good show and pop right back up (and gain some prestige in the process).

NOTPBW Big City Brawl 11,768 fans at Colisee de Kahnawake in Quebec 95,616 pay per view buys ---------------------------------------------------- In an effort to keep dark matches dark, I'm only going to report on the main shows from now on. We open with hype for the huge main event: Dark Angel vs. Dan Stone Jr. II 2/3 Falls! A Music hits and the crowd is shocked to see NOTBPW make a rare on camera appearance as he strides to the ring. He is accompanied by officials holding items covered in cloth: "I want to welcome all of the fans here tonight as well as the fans in the United States and all across Canada as we present our very first pay per view event! In honor of this milestone and the fact that we are seen nationally, and now internationally I have decided that the Candian Title will be no more. In it's place will be the NOTBPW World Heavyweight Title! The Canadian Tag Titles will be replaced with World Tag Team Title status as well. Congratulations to the current champions and good luck to all of the challengers. Now lets get this show underway!!" A* We go to video highlighting The McWade's campaign to take the tag belts from the Kelowna Playaz C The McWade Bros. defeat the Kelowna Playaz to retain the NOTBPW World Tag Titles Good brawl and one of the best matches these two teams have had to date. Green looked to be on the way to a win for his team until Dean McWade used the axe handle to KO him and take the match. C+ Johnny Bloodstone and Adrian Garcia hype their match with Jeremy Stone. There will be bloodshed tonight. A Video of Joey Poison making the save for Jack G from the Natural and Owen Love on this past week's episode of Championship Wrestling. D In an interview Joey reveals that Jack is his cousin and will be using the name Poison from now on. They will team as Lethal Dosage B- The Natural and Owen Love d. Lethal Dosage Uh oh, Team Poison has zero chemistry...shoot. They did manage to hold up their ends of a decent tag bout though and made a strong showing against the highly touted Natural and Love. The heels were too much in the end though. C Sean McFly comes to the ring and tells RK Hayes that he is more than willing to show him what the fuss is all about tonight in the ring. B+ Sean McFly d. R.K. Hayes These two went about 20 minutes in a hotly contested match. Hayes has really punishing offense and McFly counters with a finesse game. Hayes thought he had the win with the axe Kick but McFly ducked it and hit a spinwheel kick for the win. B+ As the ref raises McFly's hand, Shingen Miyazaki storms the ring and beats him down. Hayes joins in at the urging of Helen Wheels and the heel group beats McFly bloody until Tim Westybrook makes the save. B Johnny Bloodstone d. Jeremy Stone by submission Bloodstone is already reaching main event status and Jeremy continues to impress. Good match here with Bloodstone using some brutal heel tactics to overcome Stone. Stone had the Stone Hold locked in during a ref bump but Steven Parker entered and helped Bloodstone take back the advantage and win with the Crossface. B+ Tommy London tries to get a word with Dan Stone Jr. but he pushes back mumbling that the time for talking is over. A* Dan Stone Jr. drew with Dark Angel in the 2/3 Falls Match; Angel retains the World Title Stone took the first fall in about 15 min. with his Fisherman Suplex. The second fall saw Dark Angel mount an impressive comeback and use his Fall Angel Moonsault to take it at 35 minutes. As they reached the 45 minute mark Stone hit a thunderous German Suplex that saw his own head get crushed under Angel's weight. With both men's shoulders down the referee counted to three and ruled it a draw. A Overall Show: B+ Notes: Solid show with good wrestling. Angel is doing well as champion and now that he is recognized as a World Champion it should help the promotions image a lot. There is talk about turning the Canadian Title into the North American Title and reestablishing the Unlimited Action Title by getting some more high fliers into the company. The first foray into pay per view was an bonafide success!
