Vic Maxler and Curt O’Malley

wORfuqb.jpghCVNUAy.jpg

Vic Maxler walks into an empty local hardware store just outside Philadelphia.

Curt: “We’re closing up, make it quick.” Curt O’Malley says before looking up. Upon seeing Vic, his face changes to concern.

Vic: “Hey Uncle Curt!” Vic says with a smile he can’t seem to hide.

Curt: “What the hell are you doing here? What’s wrong?” Curt uneasily asks.

Vic: “Just thought I’d stop in and see how you’re doing.”

Curt: “Cut the bullshit Vic. You don’t drive 8 hours from Raleigh unannounced to check-in. If you’re in trouble just spit it out. What is it? You owe money to some loan shark or drug dealer?”

Vic: “No, I’m drug free now Uncle C, that’s part of why I’m here. Hey how about I buy you a drink and we talk.”

Curt: “Great, a proposition that requires me to be boozed up to accept…”

Vic and Curt sit across each other at a local bar.

Vic sips some of his beer and begins, “So here’s my plan…” but is cut off.

“Hold up.” Curt puts up a hand to Vic to silence him and gulps from his beer.

Vic waits anxiously as Curt revels in that first gulp of beer before taking a deep breath and motioning Vic to continue.

Vic: “Okay, so do you remember back in your day feeling the crowd’s excitement? Getting the fans to the edges of their seats?”

Curt: “Stop right there. If this is about wrestling … I was a jobber for roided-up egomaniacs. I got paid to make them look good. So don’t try to sell me on the glory, or pride, or any other bullshit.

If this is about you trying to follow in my footsteps again and become a wrester, forget it. You have no control. When you wrestled you spent more time in the hospital and rehab than in the ring or training. Wrestling companies can be toxic, and without control and proper training…

Vic: “That’s just it Uncle C. I agree, I cannot say no to the crowd. And neither could any of the other 20-year-olds. So let’s change that.

Curt gives a look that says no, but also hints that he’s still listening.

Vic: “Ten or so years ago when I started wrestling for real, I got addicted. Go through some tables and do some stunts and leave the crowd chanting! Then take some pills and be ready to go in a couple nights. The adrenaline alone was too much. So, my plan is to create a promotion…it’ll have all looks of the anti-establishment rebel culture, but with you and me in the back cleaning up the wrestler’s acts.”

Curt sits back in his seat, takes another gulp. Taking a second to choose his words.

Curt: “Vic, you’ve always dreamed big. And that’s great, but I have no intention of booking and don’t have the money to…”

Vic: “Martin will fund it, I’ll book it, just need you to work with the wrestlers on putting the matches together.”

Curt: “Wait, your bother is in on this? Martin? The one that stares at numbers on a screen for a living? There’s your selling point kid. You buried your lead.”

Vic: “Well, I haven’t pitched it to him yet, but I’m sure…” Curt cut him off with a short chuckle.

Curt: “There it is. I knew there was something wrong with this. I’ll tell you what. You find the money through moral means, guarantee me you will stay drug free and stunt free, and I’ll come down and be your road agent. I could use a change and you know what they say. No one ever really ‘retires’ from wrestling.”

After a loan from his brother of $2000, along with the $500 Victor had saved, and 10 minutes of Microsoft paint skills, Victor Maxler’s promotion was born.

Went into the editor to make Curt unretire and used some CVerse extra pictures to create a couple brothers to make the owner and book, Martin and Vic Maxler.

Going to play a Hardcore Evolved on "rock hard" so the first few months won't have much of anything in storylines. Just want to establish the company and a couple wrestlers as mainstays. Once I reach tiny, I'll introduce championships and storylines within the shows.

Black Flag Fight Club</strong></p><p><strong>

Raleigh, NC</strong></p><p><strong>

Attendance 120</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="wORfuqb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wORfuqb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Vic Maxler stands in the middle of a ring that has seen better days with a mic in his hand. Leaning against a turnbuckle is a black flag with BFW crudely spray painted on it. He stands in silence bubbling underneath with pure childlike joy. After a five-year hiatus from wrestling, living vicariously through PSW, WEXXV, and similar promotions’ performers, he was back.</p><p> </p><p>

He didn’t care if there was only 120 in attendance. Or that the audience didn’t know who he was. This was the moment his whole life was leading to. The addiction was alive and well.</p><p> </p><p>

“Welcome….TO THE REVOLUTION!!!”</p><p> </p><p>

In the back, Curt rolls his eyes at the cliché. The audience for the most part did as well, but Vic didn’t care nor notice. He was in the moment.</p><p> </p><p>

“My name is Vic Maxler and I will be your host through this anarchy. Every other Thursday we’ll be here. We will be here to give you something truly unique. We will give you the passion! The passion that can’t be captured by their HD cameras.” </p><p> </p><p>

Vic’s heart is racing…he can’t help himself and feels like he’s no longer in control of his own actions. He unfurls the flag to reveal a crudely painted ‘BFW’ and waves it with one hand. </p><p> </p><p>

“We will give you blood, sweat, and more blood!! We are…” Vic pauses, drops the flag to openly blade in full view of the audience. “We are Black Flag Wrestling!” Vic picks the flag back up over his head as blood begins to stream down his face. It’s at this point that a couple audience members clap and Vic sees himself to the back. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mosher vs G-Force</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

In the first ever bout in BFW, Mosher spent most of the time finding creative ways to use a stop sign in inflict pain on the smaller G Force. G Force was able to get some offense in including a top rope asai moonsault, but ultimately came up short. The end saw a double arm DDT onto the stop sign giving Mosher the first win of BFW.</p><p>

<strong>Bull Wrecker vs Astro vs SSP</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

While not a squash of a match, Bull Wrecker never gave doubt on who the dominant wrestler in this match was. Astro and SSP are clearly not in his league.</p><p>

Generic country music begins to play as Texas Pete makes his way to the ring. He has a shiny silver horseshoe draped around his neck. Post show meeting

wORfuqb.jpgAv9Oj5k.jpghCVNUAy.jpg

Vic Maxler, Martin Maxler, Curt O'Malley

Vic: We did it! This is awesome! Did you see Texas Pete out there?

Curt: Calm down Vic, it was one show, and the wrestling besides Texas and Bull was garbage.

Martin: Yeah, we have some changes to make.

Vic: No, no, no. We…did it, don’t you see this is going to be more than another wrestling business? Mutant was… Bull Wrecker going… Texas Pete’s second chance. And he’s going to…

Curt: (Interrupting) More like 20th chance

Vic: And Bull Wrecker was just like he was in Warrior…

Martin: (Interrupting) Regardless, I don’t care about all that. Vic, you have 1 year to pay back the investment. Provided Texas can keep his nose clean he can stay, and that goes for all the druggies you bring in. You know my rules, no trouble with the law and no drugs while they’re here.

Curt: Texas Pete won’t make it to the end of the month…

Martin: Alright, business time. I analyzed the crowd reactions…

Curt: (Interrupting) Whoa there, little Marty. While I don’t have your brother’s youthful enthusiasm, or naïve dreams, we did just host our very first wrestling show. How about we talk business over a couple drinks?

Martin: Is that how wrestling companies work? If you say so Uncle C.

Throughout the night Uncle Curt tells a couple stories of times past and Martin gives Vic a list of tasks to complete by the next show. While Vic nods along, he clearly is on cloud nine. Vic is besides himself the entire night.

Vic Maxler, Martin Maxler, and Curt O'Malley

Martin: What was Mosher doing out there, Vic?! The list said to drop Mosher. He had 14.5% less fan reaction than the rest.

Vic: Forget your numbers Marty, and, wait...what list?

Martin: The list from two weeks ago. Very specific instructions including to…

Vic: (Interrupting) Give me a break, I’m still new to booking. And I couldn’t find your list and you know my memory. Anyway, what gives? I thought you wanted to stay out of the wrestling part.

Curt’s been watching the brothers little quarrel in amusement.

Curt: Oh, alright Marty. Don’t be so hard on Vic, tell him the good news.

Martin: (Somewhat reluctantly) This little project is actually making money. And that means I’m interested.

There's an awkward pause where Martin and Curt are expecting Vic to be happier than his reaction shows

Vic: But...this isn’t about the money…it’s about the wrestling. It’s about giving wrestlers second chances. It's about giving rookies a first chance. It's about giving the fans an escape.

Martin gives a dismissive sigh.

Curt is silent.

<strong>Vic Maxler (Booker), Martin Maxler(Owner), Curt O'Malley(Agent)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Martin: What don’t you understand about, “DROP MOSHER!” Why was he in my ring? </p><p> </p><p>

Vic: Dude is unemployed, just giving him a chance to make a name for himself outside of Canada. He was willing to move here to help restart his career.</p><p> </p><p>

Martin: Save me the sob story, there’s plenty of unemployed people here, we don’t need to be importing them because you watched a youtube video of them being reckless with weapons. He isn’t good for business.</p><p> </p><p>

Curt: Calm down fellas. </p><p> </p><p>

<em>The brothers calm down. Curt clearly has the boys respect, beyond what comes from being their uncle. To Vic, Curt was his childhood hero because he was a wrestler. Curt has the wrestling knowledge that Martin lacks and needs for the business to be successful.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Curt: Vic, its great you want to give these guys a chance, but wrestling <em>IS</em> a business. As much as you hate to admit it, if we don’t put butts in the seats, all these guys are unemployed. Hey Martin, why don’t we use this tension?</p><p> </p><p>

Martin: What do you mean?</p><p> </p><p>

Curt: It’s tried and tested. One of the tropes if you will. Vic goes out to the ring, and is, well, himself. Overeager naïve super fan. Would do anything for the fans. <em><Vic felt pride in Uncle Curt saying this></em> Then you come out and give your ‘This is a business spiel.’ Fans are going to get tired of simple promos, they’re going to want to see some drama outside the matches. </p><p> </p><p>

Martin: I’m a business analyst, not an actor in his underwear.</p><p> </p><p>

Vic: You’re a robot incapable of emotion.</p><p> </p><p>

Curt: Just give it some thought.</p>

Happy Elwood is great...but doesn't really fit in what I'm going for. He's great in my other save as a comedy wrestler. Him and Zippy were original signed for comedy, but then I changed my mind on the specific type of hardcore and comedy isn't needed or helpful, so they're probably going to be jobbed out.

<strong>Flying Patriot vs Zippy D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Tried to give the audience a break with some comedy here as Zippy D wrestled the entire match with the mic in hand mocking the Patriot’s look and moves. Lots of feedback in the mic caused the audience to be turned away from the stint. Probably won't be seeing much comedy in the future in BFW.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mosher vs Remmy Skye</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Both Remmy Skye and Mosher look better than they previously had in BFW. While there were weapons around, Mosher didn’t use them as a crutch and Remmy had a good flow going. The end was Remmy reversing the double arm DDT into a facebuster followed by a swanton. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Texas Pete and The Hangman</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Texas Pete: You know something Hangman? I’ve been around the block and have seen my fair share of promotions. All these hardcore ones are the same. Trying to be DAVE all over again. <em><Addressing the audience></em> When are y’all gonna learn? DAVE is dead. And Vic wants to follow that? Now why would one want to follow a failure? So I’ll tell you what we’ll do for ya. Me and the Hangman here are running things from now on. Us Longhorns will lead this company. Black Flag ain’t no more. <strong>Art Reed and Mutant vs Texas Pete and The Hangman</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Art Reed started getting plenty of flashy offense in on the Hangman until a cheap low blow turned the tides. The Hangman and Texas Pete isolated Art Reed with frequent tags. A surprise enziguri to the Hangman led to the hot tag. Mutant cleared the ring and gave the crowd a big pop. A couple minutes later a ref bump led to Mutant getting hit with Pete’s silver horseshoe. A powerbomb/neckbreaker combo to Art Reed and Texas Pete scores the victory. </p><p> </p><p>

Vic Maxler (Booker), Martin Maxler (Owner)

Martin: Vic, Mosher! Explain.

Vic: I know, right? That was a semi-decent match.

Martin: No, I don’t give a sh*t about that. I own this company. If I say he’s gone, what is he doing AGAIN in the ring?

Vic is silent. In honesty, he just can’t let some go.

Martin: This is part of the gig Vic. You need to be able to lay it down in order to be successful. Otherwise, your employees will walk all over you. Don’t let the prisoners run the prison.

Vic is still silent, he looks infuriated, but just walks away.

Trying to establish them as a team/stable, Texas Pete and The Hangman pick up a pretty easy victory over GForce and Astro. Texas Pete spends most of the time on the apron jawing with the audience to allow G Force and Astro get theirs in on The Hangman.

March Fight Club Post Show

Vic Maxler, Martin Maxler, Uncle Curt

Vic: I f***ing told you Marty! No bullshit endings! These are wrestling fans! Leave the wrestling to me. I can do this without you.

Vic walks out on the post-show meeting before Curt and Martin get a chance to stop him.

Martin: I don’t understand Uncle C. I analyzed a bunch of other wrestling shows. Team A interferes in a match between Wrestler X and Wrestler Y. Next show theres a reason Wrestler X and Wrestler Y team up to face Team A. It seems pretty standard. When there’s a revenge attribute to the match, retention is on average 9.8% higher.

Curt: Your brain is not a wrestler’s brain, that’s for sure. Vic’s not going for “standard.” There’s a reason Mutant is so over. He’s different. Fans don’t want what they get from the televised shows here. They crave the alternative, and your brother embodies that.

Martin: So how can I help? This is making money, this could be big!

Debuting Ace Youngblood has an even match with G Force. Ace Youngblood didn't rely on the customary tomahawk chops that every Native American wrestler is bound to give. <strong>Dirty White Boys vs Longhorns</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Weapons were all over the place in this one. Tags were non-existent as all four were constantly battling in and out of the ring. Texas Pete was Irish whipped into a row of chairs which left The Hangman to be double teamed. The Dirty White Boys tried to hit Full Throttle on The Hangman but instead of coming down on his back, Lead Belly held on for a split second too long causing The Hangman’s arms to flail a little to close to the ropes. His arm clipped the top rope on his way down. Lead Belly pinned him to end the match. The Hangman was later revealed to suffer a strained rotator cuff. Lead Belly got some backstage heat for causing the injury.</p><p> </p><p>

Texas Pete and The Hangman</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Hangman: Well hey now, and welcome. Welcome to “Texas Pete’s Stomping Grounds.” Tonight, Me and Pete here are going show off some good ol’ fashioned Texas Dominance. </p><p> </p><p>

Texas Pete: You got that right Hangman. Me, well, sh**, I need myself an opponent. VIC! Drag your ass out here. </p><p> </p><p>

Texas Pete: You got my belt yet? I’m a thinking big golden Texas on the front with some horseshoes on the sides.</p><p> </p><p>

Vic: I’ve already told you Pete, this is…B…F…W! We don’t have belts. But I never could turn down a nice wager. How about this? If you cleanly win tonight in a 1v1 match, I’ll personally see to it you get a legit Championship belt?</p><p> </p><p>

Texas Pete: Alright alright alright, now we’re talking here Vic. So, who you got lined up for me? Another DAVE has-been? Some PSW reject? </p><p> </p><p>

Vic: Let’s not spoil the surprise, but I’ll give you a hint…BFW isn’t DAVE, BFW isn’t PSW, BFW sure as hell ain’t those on tv!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mutant vs Remmy Skye</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Remmy Skye doesn’t allow Mutant to get in his typical speech and he hits a missile dropkick just as Mutant is about to talk. An even match between contrasting styles. Remmy Skye’s aerial offense against the powerhouse Mutant. In the end Mutant hits the Tina Turner for the victory. The crowd, however, isn’t treated to one of Mutant’s little poems.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Art Reed, Grease Hogg, Lead Belly vs Ace Youngblood, Bull Wrecker, Max Mayhem</strong></p><p> </p><p>

So apparently Dirty white boys aren’t DAVE alumni. I originally planned on making these three into a stable and having a stable war with DAVE alumni, against Texas Pete’s group. Oh well…</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="wORfuqb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wORfuqb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Vic: Alright Texas Pete, as for you opponent tonight. I’d like to reiterate, we aren’t DAVE. I loved DAVE. But BFW this isn’t DAVE. This isn’t 2000 anymore. This is 2020. This is Black Flag Wrestling. This is the new generation of hardcore! Black Flag Wrestling welcomes…</p><p>

Toni Parissi! </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Texas Pete vs Toni Parissi</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Toni gets in the ring and stands face to face with Texas Pete, not giving an inch. Texas Pete says something to Toni that the audience can’t hear and that’s enough for Toni to strike first and lands a straight right. Texas and Toni begin trading blows with neither backing down. Toni ducks one of Pete’s swings and turns it into a reverse atomic drop. (whatever happened to that move?) Texas sells it and bounces off the ropes and is hit by a big clothesline as Toni stands over Texas Pete. Toni rolls out the ring and grabs a chair from ringside and upon rolling back in the ring gets caught by Texas Pete who, after a couple stomps, hits a delayed standing suplex. </p><p> </p><p>

The next 7 minutes of action were back and forth as Toni appeared to equal Texas in abilities. </p><p> </p><p>

Toni Irish whips Texas into the turnbuckle where Texas’s bounces a foot off the buckle allowing Toni to swing around in between Pete and the buckle. Grabbing Pete around the midsection she delivers a nasty german suplex onto the bottom turnbuckle. Toni goes for the cover and 1…2…</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="SvfWKMx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SvfWKMx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

NO! The Hangman pulls Toni off Pete. Toni is irate and gives another stiff kick to the crotch of The Hangman followed by an unprotected chair shot right to the forehead of Hangman. Texas Pete has recovered and rolls Toni up, and with a handful of tights, gets the pin.</p><p> </p><p>
