[/B]The news was rumoured for weeks as its confirmed that WCW will be making a return with a One Night Spectacular, courtesy of Vince McMahon & The WWE. [B]4th May 2006. [/B]Following The McMahons success of returning ECW as an alternative promotion to the WWE, Vince & Family confirm that the first ever WCW One Night Stand will take place 30th June 2006 live on PPV. [B]7th May 2006.[/B] Since the news of the WCW PPV breaking out, WCW.COM relaunches, courtesy of WWE. We see several names, under WWE contract, added to the website, such as Ric Flair, Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson & referee Charles Robinson. The wrestling world was full of gossip on what the PPV meant for the future of wrestling. Would they be pushed into returning full time, much like ECW? Meanwhile, ECW was debuting on SCI FI TV, and the WWE was making brief references to the upcoming PPV. [B]8th May 2006. [/B]Mean Gene Okerland is confirmed as the anchor of the WCW Return, and we are told by WWE.COM that we can expect several updates by Mean Gene on the state of address for WCW One Night Stand. [B]11th May 2006. [/B]PWTORCH Breaks the news that WCW will not return for just WCW One Night Stand, but it will be commencing broadcasting WCW NITRO from the start of June 2006! The McMahons agree to run WCW, ECW & WWE alongside each other as separate promotions to add the largest variety the wrestling world has ever seen. Meanwhile TNA signs top stars AJ Styles & Samoa Joe to long contracts to ward of the interest from Titan Towers & The McMahons. [B]12th May 2006. [/B]A day after news broke about WCW Nitro returning ONE MONTH before WCW One Night Stand, WCW.COM updates its homepage with the following information. [I][CENTER]“WCW Live on Spike TV Next Month” Join Mean Gene Okerland & Tony Schiavone as we witness the first WCW broadcast since the infamous buy out by the McMahon family. Hear from the legendary Ric Flair, witness new superstars such as Marvellous Mark Copani & Harry Smith……..watch the action of the new WCW unfold live on Spike TV![/CENTER][/I] [B]17th May 2006. [/B]Confirmed news on the status of WCW is released. A member of the McMahon family will be confirmed as WCW CEO on the relaunch of Nitro in just under 2 weeks time. The superstars named on WCW.COM will be switched to WCW with immediate effect to bolster the WCW Roster. Other former WCW stars & development talents could be called up. Already confirmed is Harry Smith who was signed by Vince McMahon to Deep South Wrestling 2 months ago. He is set to make a big impact. The Artist formerly known as Muhammed Hassan, “Marvellous” Mark Copani is set to re-burn many more bridges as he works for WCW for the very first time. [B]19th May 2006. [/B]Eric Bischoff confirms on WWE RAW that he will lead WCW back to the top of the world when the company returns. He is shifted to the WCW roster with immediate effect. It is also confirmed on WWE Programming that “Easy E” will not be happy with working under the shadow of “The McMahon” who is set to become CEO of WCW to oversee that WCW does not fall back into old habits. [B]23rd May 2006.[/B] Many fans & sceptics are throwing around ideas that WCW will need to be a million miles away from the WCW of old. Unofficial sources confirm that WCW will be run the WWE way. With a WWE feel, but with the WCW History. The announcement of Eric Bischoff as WCW President is greeted with joy by fans, who just hope he has an open cheque book and his own freedom. [B]25th May 2006. [/B]With just under a week to go before the relaunch, Ric Flair announces on Smackdown! that the World Title will return to WCW, if he can beat Rey Mysterio on the show. 12minutes into a titanic battle on Smackdown, Rey is distracted by the run in from Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko runs down to distract the referee and Flair nails Rey with a foreign object and rolls Rey up for the pin!!! The World Heavyweight Championship returns to WCW!!!! [B]26th May 2006. [/B]Just 24hours after Flair “gained” the World Heavyweight Title for WCW, he is confirmed as part of the “Booker Team” (off screen) including himself, Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson, Perry Saturn & Eric Bischoff. [B]29th May 2006.[/B] So just days away from the relaunch of the WWE’s WCW Promotion, the official preview is announced. [I][CENTER]WCW Nitro, Live on Spike TV – Tuesdays @ 10PM!
