We see several names, under WWE contract, added to the website, such as Ric Flair, Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson & referee Charles Robinson. The wrestling world was full of gossip on what the PPV meant for the future of wrestling. Would they be pushed into returning full time, much like ECW? Meanwhile, ECW was debuting on SCI FI TV, and the WWE was making brief references to the upcoming PPV. 8th May 2006. Mean Gene Okerland is confirmed as the anchor of the WCW Return, and we are told by WWE.COM that we can expect several updates by Mean Gene on the state of address for WCW One Night Stand. 23rd May 2006. Many fans & sceptics are throwing around ideas that WCW will need to be a million miles away from the WCW of old. Unofficial sources confirm that WCW will be run the WWE way. With a WWE feel, but with the WCW History. The announcement of Eric Bischoff as WCW President is greeted with joy by fans, who just hope he has an open cheque book and his own freedom. The Ego
31st May 2006. Just hours away from WCW re-launching full time, an blog style interview with WCW President Eric Bischoff hits WCW.COM and creeps out onto pwtorch.com, wrestlezone.com & oww.com amongst others. “WCW President Eric Bischoff talks candidly about WCW being reborn…..with a little help from Titan Towers” – Taken from www.wcw.com 31st May 2006. Easy E is back!!! That’s right wrestling fans, Eric Bischoff is back where he belongs, and that’s dominating the wrestling world with leading promotion brand WCW. Its been a while folks. I should really thank The McMahon family for following the lead of what they did with ECW, to what they are about to do with WCW. In comparison it shows how popular WCW still is in the minds of wrestling fans the world over. ECW held its first “One Night Stand” over a year ago, and it took them almost 14months to return full time to the wrestling world that we know and love….WCW on the other hand announced “WCW One Night Stand” then 5 days later, announced a full time return. Its down to the fans. I can promise that WCW this time round will be Cutting Edge (Promotion Style). I can also tell you wrestling fans, that although WCW owes a lot to The McMahon family, WCW will attack the WWE, ECW & TNA in a way that hardcore WCW fans will be proud. Now we all know that the Big E, me….will be in charge of WCW upon our triumphant return this week, but we also know that a member of the McMahon family will be playing a prominent role in WCWs future, by announcing themselves CEO at Nitro on Tuesday night. Im sure they wont hamper old Easy E’s WCW return to grace. So I don’t really care whether the CEO of WCW is Vince, Linda, Shane, Stephanie or even Triple H……its irrelevant to me, Eric Bischoff. What a master stroke by Ric Flair on Smackdown last week. Im sure you saw what unfolded, but for those who didn’t, WHERE WERE YOU MAN?! Flair ambushed Smackdown and challenged Rey Mysterio, the former WCW Cruiserweight, to a World Title Match. Arn Anderson & Dean Malenko ambushed the match further, allowing the “Nature Boy” & WCW Legend Ric Flair to get the victory, Flair went onto announce that the World Title was making a return home to WCW! Man, if Flair continues pulling strokes like that, then man im a happy Bischoff!!...............Lets just hope the “Future McMahon” of WCW sees it that way……….. ……….does this make Flair World Champion again for the 17th time?! What a man. And great to see Dean Malenko & Arn Anderson back on our screens. We know those three guys & Perry Saturn are running the backstage area when WCW returns, but could they control the ring also, once again?! Man im pumped by “Marvellous” Mark Copani returning to action, and making his WCW this week. This former “Arab” is a world class talent, who will undoubtedly become to WCW, what Triple H is to WWE & Sabu is to ECW. He is a genius with an IQ of 148. He could be the man to take WCW to the next level. What about Harry Smith?? This kid is a powerhouse like his dad, the late, great Davey Boy Smith, and im glad we got him on WCWs Nitro, rather to WWEs RAW. I hope he doesn’t bring his do goody attitude with him………… I think I have also pulled a masterstroke in the first tag team signed to WCW, this time round. “The Divine Dupree’s”. Yeah you guessed it, Rene Dupree has been drafted to a WCW contract, and this young man is already a multi time WWE Tag Team Champion…..but this time he has his older brother Jeffrey Dupree keeping a check on him. We know all about Rene, but Jeffrey is a different kettle of fish all together. He is cool, calm & calculated, and ya know, he could be the man to push Rene to another level. Its great to see my former announce partner Tony Schiavone back on the stick, but why do we have to put up with “Mean” Gene Okerland. You thought he’d be in a retirement home by now?! Expect to see the good old cruiserweights return with a bang, when the World Cruiserweight division officially reopens on Nitro in the coming weeks. There you go guys, I feel you know enough. Catch ya Tuesday on Spike TV!!!!
The Ego
From www.pwtorch.com/VIParea “WCW Rumours & Notes” – 31st May 2006 News Direct from PWTORCH.COM Rumours are circulating that Vince McMahon & Eric Bischoff are desperately trying to re-sign Lance Storm to a contract to work for WCW. As you remember, Lance Storm had a very successful run in WCW before its closure, and is known to be a great all round worker. If he signs with WCW, expect him to enter into a programme with CM Punk who is expected to debut on Nitro which returns this week. There is also a slight possibility that WCW officials could be interested in signing PJ Polaco aka Justin Credible to a deal. That opens up the possibility of Lance Storm & Polaco reforming the Impact Players. Although the two drawbacks are that the Impact Players weren’t known mainstream, and are well known really to ECW fans as a legendary team, and also Dawn Marie is on a temporary hiatus from the business to have a family. No word is yet known on whether Mike Awesome will follow Lance Storm’s lead into reconjuring where he left off with WCW. Awesome was charting through WCW before its closure and was really pushing for bigger workers with great all round talent to be pushed. Current WWE development territory Deep South Wrestling is expecting to see some of WCWs under card talent once the promotion re-launches. Billy Gunn/Kip James aka Monty Sopp has agreed a deal to work with ECW on a full time basis. He joins the current ECW roster, contradicting reports he was set to join WWEs current DX reunion. The Ego
From www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/columns WCW The Re-Birth of the Wrestling World – May 31st 2006 From www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/columns – by Mike Hunt. “WCW One Night Stand” prompted the rebirth of WCW, and that’s even before the aforementioned event took place. Vince McMahon & his family obviously struck gold with ECWs return, and now maybe with WCWs rebirth, he may have just gone platinum…..let alone gold. The interest in the past month in WCW has been sensational. But was it really a surprise? WCW was a world wide company, a former NWA union and homed such stars as Hulk Hogan, the nWo, Sting, Ric Flair, The Horsemen amongst others. It was the original home of the former Smackdown brand World Heavyweight Title (which is now been returned to WCW thanks to Ric Flair). It dominated the Monday Night Wars until the powers shifted that created the wrestling world known as the attitude era, but that’s for a different column. So if say ECW, a cult company in the world of wrestling, generated say a million peoples interest….then what interest would WCW create, being a world wide name & brand? Its simple maths. Vince McMahon’s master stroke was when Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Dean Malenko beat & stole Rey Mysterio for the World Title. The whole segment was WCW orientated. Names WCW fans knew and loved in that Atlantic ring. Also having Eric Bischoff running the day to day duties of being WCW President appeases the WCW loyalists, and having Ric Flair, Anderson, Malenko & Perry Saturn as the booking team is genius. They know WCW very, very well. And expect them to make an on-screen presence. Im sure Ric Flair will be officially crowned WCW World Heavyweight Champion after bringing back the title to Nitro, to make him 18 time holder. So in this column, I think we’ve judged, juried and executed the fact that WCWs return is set to push forward wrestling like never before. With WCW pushing out Cutting Edge wrestling, under the WWE banner, but operating separately, I think we could see the most intense action ever. ……….Next time ill call the shot on “The McMahon”, whoever it may be, who will be calling it in WCW as WCW CEO…….

juggaloninjalee
I am wondering what Malenkos twist will be. I hope Malenko wins the title and ends up holding it for a couple months before dropping it to a newer guy who either A)wasnt in the old WCW or B)was very young in the old WCW. As for Flair being the champ. He isnt what he used to be and hopefully he will drop the title soon.
The Ego
Wednesday, Week 1 June 06 WCW News from PWTORCH.COM After Nitro this week the altercation where Eric Bischoff and "The McMahon" is set to be an on going programme. This leads us to believe it will be either Vince, Shane or Triple H. WCW called up OVW star & RoH Legend CM Punk to the brand today, expect him & Mark Copani to join forces in a battle against Ric Flair & his returning Horsemen. Speaking of The Horsemen, Ric Flair is set to be joined by Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko and another superstar as the 4 Horsemen in WCW, as heels. It is not yet known whether a current superstar under contract with WWE or ECW will join the group, or someone from outside Titan Towers. Gail Kim signed with Eric Bischoff today also, which proves Bischoff has been given some freedom to sign workers. Gail is also set to be valet for the Horsemen. On a small note, The Highlanders tag team have been signed to Deep South Wrestling, WWE&WCWs development territory.

Speaking of Sting, its been confirmed by Sting himself that he will not return to WCW. The Cruiserweight title match next week on Nitro is rumoured to be Dean Malenkos return to WCW action full time. Each week he is set to challenge certain superstars to a match. On a side note, MMA Star Tito Ortiz has signed a WCW exclusive deal to work certain times as referee. The Ego
Monday, Week 2 June 2006 WCW Storylines & More WRESTLEZONE.COM WCW has been back in action for one week now and the signs are all positive with WCW/WWE officials. Everything is looking positive and with the young new talent, and the absense of the previous politicians that WCW used to boast, this new era is just what the cutting edge side of wrestling entertainment needs. Lance Storm is all but confirmed to be the forth man of The Horsemen which will appear on Nitro tomoro night alongside Flair, Anderson & Malenko. Officials are keen on pushing Mark Copani & CM Punk as the Horsemen's rivals in WCW. They hope doing this will erase the former image of who a WCW main eventer is, pushing WCW fans minds into how WWE operates with new talent etc. It seems that WCW One Night Stand this coming Sunday will end up boasting Flair/Storm vs Copani/Punk. This is an exciting time for WCW as the main action is true to WCW History (Flair), continues on with where WCW was at the time of its closing (Lance Storm) & compliments it with new raw talent such as CM Punk & Copani. Dean Malenkos Cruiserweight challenge could yet end up with Rey Mysterio coming in on a one shot deal to battle Malenko at a PPV. Harry Smith is expected to be pushed to the moon in WCW. He is expected to enter into a programme with Bam Bam Bigelow.

The Ego
Wednesday, Week 2 June 2006 HUGE NEWS and more from WRESTLEZONE.COM When you thought ECW couldnt get more bizarre after signing both Bret Hart & Earl Hebner, they break that mold further by signing outspoken star The Ultimate Warrior on a pay per appearance deal! Rumours are the Spirit Squad are to appear in ECW from time to time. Critics have said the Ric Flair - Mark Copani feud could be the feud to bring back the glory days to WCW, the Rule Breaking Heel vs the honest Baby face. Their encounter last night on Nitro was in a league of its own, and with Flair at his age, this could be his last major feud. And boy what a feud its shaping upto be......Who needs Sting or Goldberg!?
