The yearly tournament has been a tell-tale sign of who will be the next independent star to reach the big time since Mainstream Hernandez won the inaugural edition in 2006. Since then, the tournament has been won by such names as Greg Gauge, Casey Valentine and Cameron Vessey. The tournament’s fifteenth edition marks the first time in which the tournament will be spread over two nights and will feature four wrestlers from around the Confederation Of The Territories. Invincible Pro Wrestling’s fan favourite champion Aldous Blackfriar will be in action against the scheming villain known only as The Architect Of Your Destruction. Combat Zone Championship Wrestling’s champion Frankie Perez returns to MAW to compete against fellow veteran of the scene Cheetah Boy. Junior Heavyweight Champion of the Confederation’s newest member All Canadian Pro Wrestling, Mario Da Silva will be against Nate Demarcus, one half of the current MAW Tag Team Champions who beat his partner at last month’s The Night of Champions to earn a spot in the tournament. Finally, NYCW will be represented by Tennessee William as the brutish brawler will take on Miller Fforde. Fforde is one of the hottest talents in MAW but will need eyes in the back of his head as he has recently drawn the attention of the duo of Josh Jacobs and Ade Nelson. The main event for night one will be a huge match as the Confederation Of The Territories Championship will be on the line as CZCW’s Pablo Rodriguez will defend his strap against current Mid Atlantic Champion and reigning holder of the Rip Chord Invitational, Bradley Blaze. This match is already gaining some buzz amongst fans of US independent wrestling as its sure to be a show stealer. The next contender for Blaze’s championship will be decided on night two as the four wrestlers who don’t progress from night one of the Invitational will compete in a four way dance to decide who is the next challenger. The final announced match is another contendership match for night 2 as The Heartbreak Express of Johnny Needham and Ralph Liotta compete against The Wolf Pack of Sean Noggin and Sione Tokoeka. The winners will be next in line to face Nate DeMarcus and Tyrone Gray for the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships. There will no doubt be further action on both nights as the Rip Chord Invitational promises to be bigger than ever over two nights of action.
