thilonash76
I am about 5 years into a save. Ive built everything from scratch and proud of my company. Finally opened up a smaller company to use as development. I had plenty of hot prospects that i just had nothing for. I sent about 25-30 guys there. about 6 months later, I go to see how some guys are progressing, I notice certain people gone. Apparently the game doesnt inform you if some other company signs away your dev guys. Why not?!?!? I had most of these guys on handshake deals. If i knew somoene was trying to sign them away, I would have counter offered with a better deal. Is there anyway around losing guys except signing them up to long term written deals? I lost 3-4 guys that I had huge plans for. Now i hate to wait 2-3 in game years to hopefully sign them back.
TakumiIrohamarvelous
I'm pretty sure you can turn on the email setting for that so you get an email about other companies making offers for your talent. Rule of thumb would usually be to lock talent down on written deals before sending them to developmental though
Remianen
I had plenty of hot prospects that i just had nothing for. I lost 3-4 guys that I had huge plans for. Um, which is it? What are your mail settings? There is an option to set the priority of emails. If it doesn't include developmental workers, that might be an oversight. Or maybe the game doesn't allow for verbal (handshake) contracts to qualify for notification beyond the company the worker works for (your dev company in this case). Don't know why you'd sign a developmental worker you want to keep to a handshake deal though. To answer your question, yes, the only way to guarantee you won't lose workers is to sign them to exclusive contracts. That is assuming you keep track of their contract expiry periods. TheChef
Don't know why you'd sign a developmental worker you want to keep to a handshake deal though. Maybe so they can be in development but also work elsewhere to get even more development and experience?
NarrZiss
You can always put them on your shortlist. This way you should be informed about possible offers for your workers.
Malioc
Plus, it's cheaper and not all guys are safe beds, who deserve 3-year-contracts. ;-)
Remianen
Maybe so they can be in development but also work elsewhere to get even more development and experience? Ah right, so fatigue potentially becomes an issue along with wear and tear (which is a MUCH bigger deal in 20 than it was in 16). So you also can't be upset when someone prioritizes said worker enough to sign them to be exclusive. If your dev company is running shows frequently enough (TV and/or PPV), that activity will ensure the worker gets the right amount of work. I just wouldn't send a worker away from my company unless they were exclusive. My "development" workers are currently on my roster (because I want them to "fluff" ratings for CZCW, ACPW, EWA, 5SSW, etc) and I prioritize as 'important' any emails involving worker contract offers. He had 25-30 workers who he sent to development on handshake deals because he had nothing planned for those workers. He had actual plans for 3-4 of those workers but they've been stolen due to the handshake deal. His question was very simple: is there anything I can do outside of signing guys to long term written deals? No, there isn't. Simple question with a simple answer. You continue to give condescending answers on practically every thread I visit, which are players asking legitimate questions. It's mildly irritating to say the least. cwamaniac
My advice Shortlist anyone you hire whether sent to developmental or not at least this way you avoid most issues in the game involving ai signings and contracts (why the game doesn’t inform you of this without the shortlist considering they are your developmental guys I don’t know)
thilonash76
To reply to some questions/comments: I had nothing for those guys at the time, but did have big plans for them in the future once they had some pop built up and a little better skills and experience. Also alot of my guys were handshake deals from when i first started and wasnt big enough to sign anyone to written contracts. Also I figured i would save money by keeping someone on a handshake deal for 120 bucks a show vs trying to sign them to a written contract that would cost me like 25,000 a month. anyone new I sign i give a written contract but i still have/had a bunch of guys left over on such old ongoing handshake deals that i just never offered them a new contract that was written. Thansk to the guy who said put them on a shortlist. Ive gone ahead and shortlisted all my dev guys.

How many shows are you running?

Sorry, but pointing out an inconsistency isn't exactly condescending. In fact, it's helping him describe issues better in the future. I could do it again for your post, as you're doing the exact same thing, but I won't. And as you can read in NarrZiss's post (before yours actually), there's something you can do, so please don't deny that answer. Unless that doesn't work, which would be a bug and needs to be reported. So just shortlist the ones you end up having plans for, and you should be notified. d12345
Solution 1: Sign them to a Written deal with an Iron Clad Clause. Just don't make it an exclusive written.

Solution 2: Anyone you sign to a handshake deal that you don't want to get stolen should be added to your shortlist. This will make certain you get email updates about them.

Solution 3: Sign them to exclusive deals and offer them up to other companies (of your choosing) via Talent Trades, Excursions, or Talent Offer.
thilonash76
Im just gonna do what you guys suggested and just look at this as a chance to switch things up. one of the guys I lost was one half of a tag team that used to be in a stable with my world champ. I just sent them to dev because for some reason I couldnt get them to gain any pop. they were stuck at 16-17 pop and just killed my ratings if i put them on tv. I also couldnt book them to beat anyone without royalling pissing that other team off.

Sucks I have to rethink that stable but maybe this is an oppurtunity to try something different and then when this guy is backup for contract negotiations, I can have this big surprise re-formation of the stable kinda like how DX did back in the day.

And weirdly enough, this phenomenon isn't exclusive to wrestling. For example, it's why Steve Carell left The Office.
