JonnyV1
Note: This is a diary based on the game Total Extreme Wrestling 2005 and in no way shape or form mirrors actual happenings in the WWE.
A Change in Plans WWE vs. ECW shook the sports entertainment world as we know it. Everyone had their opinions; everyone had their negatives and positive comments. Vince would cheapen the legacy of ECW. At least, that’s what everyone thought. But it wasn’t to be, because one man was a step ahead of Vince McMahon. While McMahon was more focused on getting Triple H to join the Kiss My Ass Club, Paul Heyman obviously saw an opportunity. Vince gave him the money, gave him the two draft picks and access to talk to Raw and Smackdown Superstars, and the exposure to a bigger fan base. And while ECW would be funded by WWE and profits would go towards WWE, there were no restrictions for Paul Heyman to go into competition with the other WWE brands. So, at the WWE vs. ECW event, Paul Heyman decided he would end the show after Kurt Angle won the Battle Royal, by telling the world that One Night Stand would not be taking place, and that if any WWE wrestler showed up at the PPV, they would be dealt with ECW style. ECW One Night Stand would be replaced by ECW Resurrection. With matches such as Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio vs. Sabu & John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam cancelled because of this, certain matches have been announced ahead of time for the first ECW Pay Per View! ECW World Heavyweight Title Match Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle ECW World Television Title Match CM Punk vs. The Sandman ECW World Tag Team Title Match Generation Next vs. Triple X vs. The Impact Playa’s vs. The Chair Swinging Freaks As for the rest of the roster, it is rumoured that the WWE, TNA and the Independants have been raided as well as old ECW wrestlers being signed. What will the New ECW bring to the wrestling table? Just have to wait till ECW Resurrection PPV! [/IMG]

JonnyV1
OOC: I apologize if this isn't what is expected by any hardcore ECW fans, I never got the chance to really watch ECW being British, but I have hired former ECW Wrestlers alongside other talent. And feel free to tell me what ECW characters were like if I am miles off. I'll also add pics tomorrow. After scanning the crowd, the shot slowly pans out into the ECW Ressurection Video Intro, at first focusing on the past, but then highlighting the superstars of this ECW that the fans already know about as the ECW Theme plays. It Eventually comes to focus on the main event of tonight, for the ECW World Heavyweight Title, contested between Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam. Rating: A* ---------- As Joey Styles and Taz welcome us to ECW Resurrection, they go down the big matches that were announced before the show, and promise the fans that ECW will revolutionize the industry, bring the best of wrestling straight to your living rooms. And that the action would kick off tonight, straight away with a match between two talented wrestlers that have been called up to ECW from the independents. vs. Jay Lethal vs. Teddy Hart One On One Match This match provided fast pace action, Jay Lethal being the more technical of the two, throwing in some great mat wrestling, trying to slow down Teddy Hart, who only seemed to know one way to wrestle, which was high impact. Teddy Hart brought out some moves that got Holy **** chants from the fans, including an insane Corkscrew 360 to the outside. During the match we found out that ECW would have no count outs unless specified, only rule was the pinfall had to happen in the ring and that unless specified, weapons could be used. However, the two decide to leave the weapons where they were. The match ended when Teddy Hart went for one impact move too many, and was caught on the top ropes by Jay Lethal, who Belly to Belly Suplexed Teddy from the top rope and took the victory. The fans seemed to take to Jay Lethal really well, cheering for him throughout the match. Winner: Jay Lethal Rating: B ---------- After the sponsors for tonight’s event are covered, the “Olympic Theme” for Kurt Angle rocks the arena as the fans let out a roar to great him. As usual the do the “U Suck” chants in his direction, but it has become a thing of habit instead of a derogatory chant, as Kurt Angle walks to the ring with his usual intensity. When he’s in the ring with a microphone in his hand, he looks around the arena and lets out an all might “woooo” which the fans follow. Kurt started to talk about his illustrious career, Olympics and WWE, and also mentioned the time when he decided not to join ECW in the past, and said he was here to do what ECW was promising, revolutionize the industry. He said it would start tonight, but before he could say anymore, the ECW Theme started to play. From the back came Paul Heyman. When he got in the ring, he told the world that this is the new ECW, and that the old would be mixed in with the new. And that’s why Kurt Angle was his draft pick from Smackdown. But, he didn’t plan on taking the McMahon approach and wrap his stars in cotton wool. So he told Angle that tonight, he would face Rob Van Dam in a 2 out of 3 falls match, and before he left, asked Kurt Angle if he could hang with Mr. Pay Per View, in Rob Van Dam’s environment. And we ain’t talking WWE Hardcore. Tables were broken in “Holy ****” style fashion, high risks were taken, and barbed wire along with other assortments of weapons was used. The first to go was Tony Mamaluke, who attempted to frog splash Dreamer through a table, but ended up just knocking himself out of contention, as New Jack took advantage after Tony drove himself through the table. Homicide would then take out New Jack with a brainbuster off the top rope into thumbtacks. But through out the match, Tommy Dreamer always looked like winning, and finally did with a barebwired baseball bat which he decimated Homicide with. Unfortunately, the faces weren’t that recognizable to the fans who weren’t ECW fans before which hurt the atmosphere. As usual, the Sandman’s entrance was probably one of the highlights of the show for some fans. And the fans were very welcoming to CM Punk, plenty of them seeming to have heard about this talented wrestler. CM Punk attempted to keep the match clean, but Sandman would soon bring in the weapons, but CM Punk showed he could hang with CM Punk when it came to weapons too. At around 14 minutes it looked like CM Punk possibly had The Sandman exactly were he wanted him, but this was when Tommy Dreamer ran in, smacked CM Punk in the head viciously with The Sandman’s cane and continued to assault him with it, before leaving the ring, pointing to his ECW T-Shirt as Sandman got to his feet and CM Punk was counted out. The match was even throughout, Generation Next and especially Austin Aries providing the high risk, The Chair Swinging Freaks providing the hardcore, and Lance Storm and Christopher Daniels bringing excellent technical wrestling. However, with all these ingredients, it just seemed like there was too much happening and the match didn’t flow as well as it should have. The end came when The Impact Playa’s had just taken care of Generation Next, leaving them on the outside, and the Chair Swinging Freaks, handcuffing Triple X to the ropes and beating the hell out of them whilst Lance Storm and PJ grab the tag team titles. The New Champions stood atop the ladder celebrating, as The Chair Swinging freaks simply nodded when they had the champions attention and left the ring, as Joey Styles accused this all of being a set up and Taz thinking it was brilliant. Kurt Angle isn’t someone used to being dominated but for a good half of the match he was as Rob Van Dam’s determination was so great. However never question Kurt’s competitive nature. The First pinfall came at the 12 minute mark with Rob Van Dam hitting the Van Terminator. A Five Star Frog Splash later, to the outside through a table, and many thought it was over. Rob Van Dam rolled Kurt back into the ring, but Kurt kicked out. As Rob later went for one of his spinning kicks, Kurt caught his leg and trapped him in the middle of the ring with an Ankle Lock. Rob Van Dam tried to fight but eventually tapped out. With a hurt ankle, Rob Van Dam’s offence was effected greatly, and an Angle Slam of the top rope, because of RVD not being as quick as usual because of this, gave Kurt Angle the victory. Charlie Vick
I pretty sure RVD was Heyman's draft pick from Raw. It doesn't matter though. Edge fits in nicely. I like it so far, with some exceptions. I'll keep an eye on this one.
JonnyV1
Yeah, RVD was Heyman's draft pick, it was just done with a bit less fanfare and attention given to it, seeing as everyone sees Rob Van Dam as ECW anyway. Edge should be the major heel in the company and only reason I considered him, was because of his Wrestlemania match. Small problem I have, is that a lot of ECW guys don't want to wrestle for me, because their workload is pretty full. People like Sabu won't talk to me, which is a shame. And Charlie Vick, feel free to say what the exceptions are. Best way to improve is from criticism.

JonnyV1
www.prowrestlinghits.com
Heyman & JonnyV1 Word backstage from the ECW Resurrection pay-per view is that Paul Heyman and JonnyV1, who Heyman hired to help run the show are already having heated arguments over key decisions for shows. The major argument at the ECW Resurrection PPV was over the main event. According to sources inside ECW, JonnyV1 was behind Rob Van Dam winning the title in the main event, because of Edge costing Kurt Angle the match. Paul Heyman on the other hand wanted Kurt Angle to win, and be the first face of the new ECW. JonnyV1’s argument was that people would get behind RVD as champion, and after years of misuse by WWE, and the fact that WWE never put one of their top two titles on Rob Van Dam, that if they did, the fans would realize this was a different promotion, whereas Kurt Angle definitely had a WWE feel about him, and WWE had pushed him as champion before. Heyman’s point was that he wanted this ECW to stand out as different, and not just a poor attempted rehash, and that the first champion should win in a classic but clean battle. Rumors are that they are already disagreeing over how to run the first ECW Havoc, which is their first TV Show.

When Edge got a microphone, the fans eventually stopped trying to boo him out the building and let him speak. Edge My phone has been ringing off the hook since the ECW Resurrection Pay Per View. Question after question after question thrown at the Rated R Superstar. You ECW fans want to know why I’m here, what my plans are, and WWE fans want to know why I would even come to this hell hole. After all, it was in WWE that Mick Foley and I redefined Hardcore. So I don’t need to be here, with the drug junkies, alcoholics and wrestlers that should have retired years ago. So Edge, why are you here, in ECW? The Answer’s simple, Kurt Angle and I have some unfinished business. I’ve come to beat some sense into “The Wrestling Machine”. You see, the reason Kurt Angle came here, is because he couldn’t even dominate Smackdown. He took the easy road out, wrestling third rate talents. Like who the hell is CM Punk? Who gives a damn about Sandman anymore? But he can’t escape, and he’ll never rule anywhere. And The R Rated Superstar will make sure the traitor, he thought he was too good for all of you ten years ago, isn’t even good enough to stand atop of the mountain in ECW! Kurt Angle got in the ring and immediately grabbed the microphone from Edge’s hands. Whilst Lita got Edge a new microphone, Kurt started to talk. Kurt Angle I was backstage, and I just had to come out to see if what I was hearing was real. Edge was putting me down? Putting down an Olympic Gold Medalist! A multiple time World Champion! Basically I was getting put down by the biggest bitch in wrestling. Hell, you even look like a bitch, blondie! One small title reign and you think you can hang with me? Well, I’ll prove you wrong right now! Edge Whoah, hold it Kurt! I don’t want to hurt you just yet. The Rated R Superstar is main event calibre, especially in this place. If you want to beat me up, you’ll have to wait till the end of the night. Because Paul Heyman has been gracious to give me a match, of my choice, as long as no titles are on the line. So stay tuned into your TV backstage. See you Later Chump! This was what ECW was about and will stay about. He told the fans that they were looking at The Hardcore Loyalists! And anyone that was trying to get fame by being in the ECW that they built, were in trouble. If The Hardcore Loyalists would have just left the ring of their own accord or carried on the beatdown, we wouldn’t find out. As suddenly “Violence” by Juelz Santana played over the speakers and the lights dimmed, red lights flickering. At the top of the ramp, appeared a masked man, just looking straight at the ring, before slowly walking down. If it was the mere mystery surrounding the man, or the fact that Low Ki and Christopher Daniels were recovering, the Hardcore Loyalists excited the ring, as the masked man slid in and stood in front of Triple X, almost looking like he was protecting them from the Hardcore Loyalists. However when Homicide managed to get the match outside the ring, Homicide got the advantage and didn’t let go. Kurt Angle seems ready to fight but Rob Van Dam calms him. He says the PPV was the PPV, congratulations and that he would be after the title. The crowd wait to see who Edge’s mystery tag partner is. “Ain’t No Stoppin Me!” blares out the speakers as from the back walks out Shelton Benjamin, shades and a classic summer shirt on, as he walks down with the WWE Intercontinental Title as the fans start to boo, probably mainly because he has brought a WWE title with him. Shelton and Edge however seemed to have the upperhand through a majority of the match, perhaps just being that little bit better in a tag team environment, because of their starts in wrestling. Shelton highlighted his athleticism, but seemed uninterested in wrestling Kurt through a lot of the match, seemingly a whole lot more focused on Rob Van Dam. The match went on for a good twenty minutes, with Rob Van Dam being cornered until he got the hot tag. Kurt Angle took apart Edge And Shelton with suplex after suplex, showing more variety than he did in WWE. But it would prove all for nothing, as after Kurt Angle, Angle slammed Edge and tagged Rob Van Dam for a Five Star, Shelton, who must have watched a tape of the PPV, jumped up to the ropes and delivered a T-Bone on Rob Van Dam, which got a huge chant of “Holy ****”, Kurt then went for Shelton, but got low-bridged to the outside as Edge slowly put his arm over RVD to pick up the win. However Shelton wasn’t done. He climbed the top rope and came flying down with a Shooting Star Press on Rob Van Dam, and then continued to beat on him till he was chased off by Kurt Angle. The show faded out with Edge at the top of the ramp and Shelton half way up, looking at the ring with smiles on their faces as they looked at Kurt checking on Van Dam as the ECW fans booed them out the building. Charlie Vick
It's nothing major that I have a problem with. Your shows are great, and well written. I just don't particularly like raiding of the TNA roster. WWE can't do it in real life until their contracts are up with the company. Other than that it's a great diary so far. JonnyV1
Well in my eyes, there are only really four wrestlers of TNA that I have, that in real life I doubt I could. At least from what I know, Austin Aries, Homicide and Lethal aren't exclusive TNA. I'm not sure about Shelley, and I know Joe and Daniels are. Don't worry though, there's only one more TNA guy, you can guess who most likely. It's just I need guys with overness and don't want too many WWE guys, or it will start to feel like WWE. After all, at the moment my main event scene has a rather large WWE feel about it, but I hope to slowly change that.

The wrestlers include Rey Mysterio, Gregory Helms, Ken Kennedy, Paul Burchill, Ken Doane of the Spirit Squad, Charlie Haas and Johnny Nitro along with Melina. I’m here to finish what we started in WWE and I’m here to cost him something that I know deep down he really wants. He wants to be ECW World Heavyweight Champion, but while I’m here, I’m going to make sure that doesn’t happen. AJ Styles utilized his speed advantage at every opportunity, and could almost match Kurt when it came to mat wrestling. And various points in the match it looked like AJ could pick up the victory. Rob Van Dam Well Chrissy, I’m Rob Van Dam (insert thumb pointing and crowd sing-a-long), so as usual I’m confident. Because I’m confident in my abilities, in my training and in my self. I’m capable of going into this match and winning that shot at Kurt Angle and putting on another classic ECW World Title Match. But, I’m not fool! I know with two guys that probably still consider themselves WWE, that I might fall short. I don’t have to be pinned, and could still lose the match. JonnyV1
www.prowrestlinghits.com
The Potential of ECW By Lionel Thomas ECW has had one pay-per view and two TV shows so far, and from what we have seen, this is not what the wrestling fan base had expected. Of course, the majority of people will think this is a good thing. However now we have the opportunity to look at Paul Heyman’s and JonnyV1’s ECW compared to Vince McMahon’s WWE, what is ECW giving us that TNA doesn’t already. Taking a look at it’s main event scene, it doesn’t seem to be offering that much more than a WWE main event scene. Edge and Kurt Angle seems to be the main focus of the ECW brand, as storylines go, and this is something we could have easily seen, had Kurt not been drafted over to Smackdown because of it’s lack of main event draws. While fans of either Edge or Kurt will be happy to see them finally get a real chance at being the major players in the federation, ECW fans might resent the fact that they are basically watching a WWE storyline, but it will draw because of the mainstream audience. The rest of the main event also has that WWE feel. Rob Van Dam will no doubt, be accepted as a main eventer by hardcore ECW fans, but he is a lot slower in the ring than he used to be. Meanwhile Shelton Benjamin, all though there is little doubt with me that he can fit into ECW, still has that feeling of WWE about him, as does Gregory Helms, who mainstream fans may find hard to see as a Main Eventer. But, there are others that can main eventer and seem to be on there way to that. Lance Storm, AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Samoa Joe and CM Punk all seem to be in situations which will increase their drawing power. But apart from CM Punk and Lance Storm, there’s just a feel that these wrestlers are TNA draws, not ECW Superstars. They may find the same problem with AJ, Austin and Joe as they possible could with Kurt Angle, Edge and Shelton Benjamin. So what is ECW? So far it seems to be a mixture of WWE, TNA and ECW. The Hardcore Loyalist storyline seems to fit into an ECW style but apart from that, ECW doesn’t really have it’s own identity. Also, I must question some of the ECW signings. If I look over there roster, there is a number of people that look questionable as signings for ECW or for any promotion in some of the case. One is Bruno Giovanni Dante, who is not on the official ECW site as a wrestler, but is employed as a wrestler on the ECW books. Little is know about this guy, apart from being trained in Japan and Mexico, and having small stints in Italy and England in smaller federations. The fact he is on their books is not what is a surprise, because there are many who are on the books of ECW, and have been sent to IPW:UK or JAPW in development deals, but Bruno hasn’t, as is being paid a lot for an unknown name. The old ECW stars that have been signed are questionable. Where’s Sabu? If they are going through TNA for wrestlers, where’s Raven? Instead we have Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney, not exactly the draws of ECW. Neither is Tony Mamaluke. And someone please tell me why you’d sign Teddy Hart to a big promotion. It’s been shown that he isn’t a good person to have backstage, and can be a danger to fellow wrestlers. And what’s with all the managers. Amber and Chrissy Rivera showed in the last ECW Show, that they can’t really cut it as Interviewers, how you can fit Ashley into ECW I don’t know, or Christy Hemme. However, Melina Perez, who if you didn’t know, has jumped ship to ECW, I can see working. And Lita and the just signed Beulah will hopefully make up for Hemme and Ashley. However one thing ECW does have, which I am happy about, is a backstage team that is booking shows that make WWE look poor, even with slightly lower production quality. Billy Graham, Bruno Sammartino and Killer Kowalski, along with Heyman and JonnyV1 have been booking interesting but realistic storylines and great matches thanks to brilliant road agents. Just take a look at an ECW show, Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles, Edge vs. Shelton vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Gregory Helms. Then take a look at WWE. Velocity has Batista and Booker T vs. Undertaker and Matt Hardy, WWE title being defended on Heat between Cena and Triple H, but defended on Raw between Cena and Danny Basham. And Trish Stratus defeating Shane McMahon, Mickie James and Victoria! Great Khali vs. Sylvian! And the list goes on. I’m sure as the weeks go by, we will see how this new ECW shapes up, but it wouldn’t surprise me if things go the same way, that ECW starts to take over from Raw and Smackdown as the premium WWE show.
