shipshirt
Thanks man. As for your suggestion, I'm more about booking a realistic style than just throwing stuff out there to get the highest rating. I like to try to get the highest rating I can while keeping as true to the concepts and style.
shipshirt
XXCW A New Dawn (01.07) 285 fans at Whiskey Sours -------------------------------------------------------------------- Dark Match: John Greed d. Leo Davis Greed has been playing manager for awhile and I don't want him to fall into just that as he has much potential in the ring. Quick squash to remind fans he is a wrestler first, moutpiece second. E Tim Westybrook comes to the ring and warns Mister Blister that he is looking for him and last month's beatdown will be nothing compared to what's in store. C- Ted Ross enters the ring and is pleased to introduce the NEW XXCW Mid Southern Champion....BRENDON IDOL!!!! Idol comes out to a standing ovation! C+ As he thanks the fans for all their support, Darryl Devine interrupts: "You can thank these idiots all you want, but they aren't going to help you when I get my rematch next month and take MY title back. Enjoy your fluke "champ"." C+ Des Davids d. Leroy Basic brawl, mostly punch-a and a-kick-a. Davids scores the pin with the Beantown Bomb and that's about it. D Backstage, Prof. Nero breaks up an argument between Nevada Nuclear and Plague. They look like they are about to come to blows over their recent tag loss and Nuclear storms off stating he doesn't want to team with Plague any longer. A Snap Dragon preps for his match with Nuclear and his Mid Southern Tag Champion partner American Elemental stops in to wish him good luck. C+ Nevada Nuclear d. Snap Dragon Really solid match with Nuclear stepping up his game. This was Dragon's first singles match and he looked great...both could be title contenders before long. Nero interfered, distracting Dragon long enough to fall victim to the Mushroom Cloud. C- Plague charges out and it appears their falling out was a ruse as WMD beats down Snap Dragon, prompting American Elemental to charge in with a chair for the save. D Hell Monkey congratulates Brendon Idol on his championship win and the two men talk as they prep for the main event. A Hell Monkey/Brendon Idol d. Darryl Devine/Mister Blister by countout after outside interference Stellar main event with everyone going all out. Blister and Hell Monkey had some sick ringside brawling and Idol lept over onto both men with a springboard somersault plancha. Tim Westybrook interfered and hit the Iron Bomb on Blister outside the ring to get the countout. Devine was confused as to what happened. C Overall Show: C- Notes: Solid show and fans reacted well to Idol as champion. Next month, Darryl Devine gets his rematch for the belt. shipshirt
XXCW Year End Awards 2006 It was a huge year for XXCW as the company really got a foothold on the area and about mid year, started really firing on all cylindars. Any readers of this diary that want to send in their own categories and picks for best (or even worst) of the past year in XXCW please do!!! Lets look at the best of the company from 2006: XXCW Wrestler of the Year: "Mighty Fine" Darryl Devine While a lot of fans thought Brendon Idol might take the honors with his breakout year, Darryl Devine was the glue that held the promotion together through some lean and rough months. As Mid Southern Champion, Devine never mailed it in, whether in a match or on the mic and put the company on the map as a promotion to watch in the coming years. He is the foundation of XXCW and for that we honor him with this award. XXCW Tag Team of the Year: Masked Mayhem (American Elemental/Snap Dragon) Tough category to judge as budget constraints haven't allowed the tag division to explode yet. These two masked men became the first XXCW Mid Southern Tag Champions and got fans excited about tag team wrestling again. Their innovative, high flying offense and great matches with Weapons of Mass Destruction have fans excited as to where they can take the division in 2007 XXCW Show of the Year: Road to the Gold II (12.06) Unanimously voted as the top XXCW show of the year, it may have also been one of the best indy show of the year as well. Brendon Idol made good on his breakout push to win the Mid Southern Title from Darryl Devine. There was heated brawling with Hell Monkey and Mister Blister; Masked Mayhem and WMD got it on for what may be the last time over the XXCW Mid Southern Tag Titles and Joss Thompson made his official in ring debut and may prove to be big news in the coming years. Overall, this may be the card history looks back on as to when the Texas Wrestling Revolution really began (how's that for hyperbole??:) ) XXCW Match of the Year: Brendon Idol d. Darryl Devine for the XXCW Mid Southern Title at Road to the Gold II Easy pick here as no match, save the first and only Hell Monkey-Devine match, had the impact, emotion and just plain kick ass wrestling that this match did. Idol has big shoes to fill and will certainly be given a chance to do just that as he steps into the role of champion and lead babyface for XXCW. This is the match that nudged him over the top. bgbuff
Great Job I just got a chance to read this diary, i loved your MAW. I'm a big Marat fan, i use him as Godzilla in my MAW diary, and i'm grooming Westybrook for future shots. You've done well with Marat, whenenver i book him in something other than angles where he just looks menacing or unstopable he flops, but he is improving. Keep up the good work..... shipshirt
XXCW Collision Course (02.07) 246 fans at Whiskey Sours ----------------------------------------------------------------- Attendance dipped a little this month but no one is worried. The wrestling and mainstream economies are starting to boon so things will be picking up soon. Nevada Nuclear comes to the ring with Prof Nero and cuts a promo: "I'm done with tag teams and now I will show you all what I can do as a singles wrestler" C+ Dark Match: Nevada Nuclear d. Ben Williams Squash match. Mushroom cloud finisher. Williams is good on the mic and may be a good cheap color guy. D A video is shown promoting a new tag team on their way to XXCW: Samoan Machine and Rhino Umaga...The Samoan Wrecking Crew. B- John Greed comes to the ring: "As the richest man in this promotion, hell this part of the country, I have spent my family's fortune to bring the greatest tag team in Japan to the States. The Samoan Wrecking Crew. No spears, grass skirts or facepaint here...only ass kicking." D Ted Ross hypes that tonight we will see the rematch for the Mid Southern Title between Brendon Idol and Darryl Devine. C- Joss Thompson comes to the ring for his match: "Look who's here...It's the Real Deal and after I kick this freak with the rainbow head's ass, I'm gonna party." C Joss Thompson d. Joey Poison Poison is still working to get over but Thompson is truly the Real Deal. Already at a D in popularity due to his mouth and a big win over Rick Sanders at RttG. Poison works a good mat game and a feud between these two in the future could be money. D Tim Westybrook once again calls out Mister Blister and won't take no for an answer!! C- Mister Blister and Tim Westybrook fight to a double countout Blister charges the ring as the crowd pops and the two men collide like bucks. The fall to the outside and continue brawling through the crowd as the ref counts to 10. They worked pretty stiff with each other to simulate more of a "real fight". C- Hell Monkey is backstage and approached by Prof. Nero: "It's such a shame. Look at you. At one time, the most highly touted prospect in XXCW, but now you play second fiddle to a pretty boy. Overlooked and held back. Such a waste." Hell Monkey told Nero to get out of his face before he got his ass kicked. B- Plague d. Hell Monkey Match of the night as Plague is a star. Both men brawled stiffly and then took to the air showing off some of the most innovative moves seen in the area in a long time. Nero got involved in the match to distract Hell Monkey enough for plague to hit a Michinoku Driver and the Jersey Turnpike for the upset win. C+ Darryl Devine comes to ring: "Some people know me as Mighty Fine but you idiots can call me "Wrestler of the Year" Darryl Devine. Tonight I get my belt back and end Idol's charade of a title reign." C Brendon Idol warms up for the match A Brendon Idol d. Darryl Devine to retain the XXCW Mid Southern Title A match just a notch lower than the previous Hell Monkey-Plague match (this was a little shorter). Great stuff though and Devine got heat on Idol and Idol fought back to his a moonsault bodyblock to win it over a shocked Devine. They are coming to XXCW....next month!! B- Nevada Nuclear d. Leo Davis Another squash as Nuclear builds up some momentum as a singles competitor after his behind the scenes falling out with Plague. D Darryl Devine comes to the ring looking more serious than we've ever seen him: "Brendon Idol, on two seperate occasions you've pinned my shoulders to the mat. You've taken my title, my pride. Tonight, I want it back...I want it all back!! You put up your title and if I lose the match, I will walk away from XXCW for at least 6 months!! That's right...Title vs. Loser Leaves Town....tonight!! C Masked Mayhem d. The Shooters to retain the XXCW Mid Southern Tag Titles Very impressive showing by the young team of Lemming and Technique against the tag team champions. Good enough to earn them future title considerations. Elemental and Dragon work together so effortlessly as if they'd been teaming their whole career. Dragon with the Dragon's Breath. C- American Elemental grabs the mic: "We keep hearing so much about the Samoan Wrecking Crew. Greed, you want to get your team a title shot, you know where to find us!" C Brendon Idol is backstage and he ACCEPTS Darryl Devine's challenge. C+ Prof. Nero cuts a promo: "So it's winner takes all tonight, eh? Well that's all fine and good, but my Plague here better get the next shot at whomever wins tonight." C+ Joss Thompson d. Rick Sanders A rematch from their RttG match that really helped put Thompson on the map. Similar action here with Joss scoring the win with his feet on the ropes. Afterwards he acts as if he just won the Olympics. C- Mister Blister approaches Darryl Devine to accompany him to the ring: "Not tonight. You've got the night off. I need to do this on my own." C- Brendon Idol comes to the ring as the fans blow the roof off Whiskey Sours!! A Brendon Idol d. Darryl Devine to retain the XXCW Mid Southern Title; Devine must leave town for 6 months!! Definitely one of the weakest matches of their series, but it seemed that fans might have been a little burnt out on seeing these two men fight over the title. A lot of fans figured that Devine would win this match and were shocked at the outcome. Idol hit a Victory Roll for the win. C- Overall Show: C- Notes: Even though it seemed shocking that Devine lost, this card took place right at the time of his contract renewal so we thought he might actually leave. Plus it will give Idol a chance to run with the title outside Devine's "shadow" and see what new heel stars can rise up. Next month's main event will be Brendon Idol vs. Plague for the Mid Southern Title...and the in ring debut of The Samoan Wrecking Crew!!!
shipshirt
In news from around the wrestling world... In an unprecedented move Nemesis is working for DAVE, TCW and SWF....SIMULTANEOUSLY!! And he does so while holding the TCW World Title having just pinned Tommy Cornell last month!!! I can't imagine TCW will allow him to hold onto the belt. It will be very interesting to see how this one plays out! Also...Sean McFly has left NOTBPW and joined TCW...fans are salivating over the prospects of a McFly-Cornell feud. In other news, it appears that Nemesis left TCW and dropped the World Title to Liberty before ever appearing on SWF TV. Very professional of him, although I was curious to see an invasion! Nemesis back in SWF is big news nontheless though. OK enough talk about other promotions...on with the show!! Geoff Borne and Randy Maxx warm up for their match C- Suicide Xtreme d. The Score It seems that "The Dealer" Crockett Tubbs and K-Squared have great chemistry as a team, so K-Squared has been rechristined "Special K" and they will now be known as "The Score". Borne and Maxx are gelling nicely as a team but still not quite ready for a major push yet. Rocket Launcer finish. F Hell Monkey congratulated Brendon Idol on getting rid of Darryl Devine and states that he wants a title shot. C+ John Greed comes to the ring and intros the Samoan Wrecking Crew: "You are about to be treated to the most devestating tag team ever to set foot on American soil. John Greed proudly presents...the Samoan Wrecking Crew!!!" E The Samoan Wrecking Crew d. Mark Smart/Ben Williams The SWC came in like the Road Warriors and just destroyed the young jobber tag team. They are total wrestling machines, with Rhino being the more powerbased and Machine being more holds and submissions. Both men are stiff as hell. Rhino scores the pin with the Rhino ChargeE After the match Greed has the SWC beat the jobbers up and toss them from the ring as they celebrate their debut. B- Backstage, Prof Nero approaches Mister Blister: "It seems your former employer has failed you...abandoned you, I can offer you a job with my Dominion. Join me and I will help you be the monster you truly are" C+ Joey Poison d. Marc Speed Posion has a strong future and this was a much needed clean win for him. Decent match, but I think Speed had "boo boo" face about losing. D Nevada Nuclear (w/ Prof. Nero...Nuclear is speaking more on his own nowadays) hypes his match with Des Davids: "Davids, I'm on a roll and there's no way you can stop the explosion that is Nevada Nuclear C+ Nevada Nuclear (w/ Prof. Nero) d. Des Davids This will be Davids last match in XXCW for awhile as he wanted over $500 an appearance but was still not even an E in popularity. Nuclear looked very good and Davids worked hard, earning himself a future roster slot in the process. C- Prof. Nero returns backstage and once again offers to help out Hell Monkey, who threatens him with bodily harm and walks away. C+ Bredon Idol d. Plague (w/ Prof. Nero) to retain the XXCW Mid Southern Title Great match as both men can hit aerial moves with grace and ease. Idol has been wrestling with more confidence and much more offense since taking the title. Plague can pretty much go with anyone and always put on fantastic performances. Idol scored the pinfall and then Nevada Nuclear and Mister Blister entered the ring to attack C Hell Monkey ran from the back with a steel chair and hit an amazing springboard flying chairshot to Plague and chase Nero's Dominion out of the ring. He helped Brendon Idol to his feet as the crowd cheered. C- Overall Show: C- Notes: Both Des Davids and Rick Sanders left the company after their contracts were not renewed. In a deal with CZCW, XXCW picked up two young workers...Frankie "P Dawg" Perez and Remmy Skye. They will start with the company in the coming months. Mark Smart/Ben Williams Crockett and Special K looked good here tonight. K is doing a raver gimmick. They have contrasting styles. Smart and Williams are good as the hapless faces and may become XXCW's new Mulkey Bros. F Ted Ross interviews Frankie "P-Dawg" Perez: "There are a lot wrestlers here I want to test myself against. Guys like Joss Thompson, Plague, Darryl Devine, The Samoans and of course Hell Monkey. If you aren't in the game to win titles, then get out of it." Pretty no nonsense. D Dark Match: Frankie Perez d. Leo Davis Showcasw match for Perez as it wasn't a total squash. Perez works a stiff strong style that will fit in nicely with the roster we've assembled. Perez wins it with the P Clutch. D We open with a video recap of last month's title match and Hell Monkey saving Brendon Idol from a beatdown by The Dominion. C Prof. Nero makes his way to the ring, flanked by the Dominion (Plague, Nevada Nuclear and Mister Blister): "Hell Monkey, you couldn't leave well enough alone. I offered you a chance at greatness and you refused. Then you have the nerve to stick your nose in where it doesn't belong? Tonight you will learn. My Plague and Nevada Nuclear, my Weapons of Mass Destruction challenge you and Idol. We will destroy you and make you regret the day you ever said no to me!" Idol and Monkey come out to the aisle and deliver a short, sweet promo: "We accept." C+ Tim Westybrook d. Mister Blister by DQ Blister remains in the ring as Westybrook makes his way out to a big pop. The two men engage in their standard tight, short brawl. Nero gets involved and the ref calls for the bell. C- Ted Ross said he is getting word on his headset of a problem backstage. A camera rushes back there and it's projected on the video system. Hell Monkey has been attacked and knocked unconcious, laying in his own blood!! No one has seen who attacked him. C+ While Hell Monkey is being tended to, we go to a video promotion The Samoan Wrecking Crew. B John Greed is in the ring with Samoan Machine and Rhino Umaga: "We are issuing a warning right now. A warning to those two mask wearing freaks who are merely watching our Mid Southern Tag Team Titles at the moment. The warning is this...enjoy them for now because we are coming." C- Joss Thompson d. Joey Poison Good match as Thompson and Poison keep improving. Nice technical work and then Thompson brought out his bag o' tricks. Thompson with the Clean Cutter. C- Brendon Idol states that even though it looks like Hell Monkey won't be able to wrestle tonight, he'll take on WMD by himself: "Back during the tag tournament he did it for me when I was too injured to compete. Tonight I will do this for him." C+ Snap Dragon d. Marc Speed Speed is on his way out of the company as John Greed didn't even accompany him to the ring for this match. He wants way too much money and isn't over at all. We'd like to work with him in the future though, once his price drops. As it is we're over our roster "budget". Dragon looked fantastic in the match and really shined. C- A video is shown hyping the young team of Suicide Xtreme. This one focused on their "Extreme" hobbies like rock climbing. C Weapons of Mass Destruction ({Prof. Nero) d. Brendon Idol/Hell Monkey Idol came out alone and fought bravely against the two heels. He got some early offense in and then was beaten down for a few minutes. The crowd popped as Hell Monkey stumbled towards the ring, head bandaged. Idol fought for the hot tag and instead recieved A HELLFIRE KICK TO THE FACE knocking him unconcious!!! Hell Monkey then removed his bandages to show that he was not hurt at all!! Nevada Nuclear made the pin as Hell Monkey and Nero shook hands! C Ted Ross screamed: "God help us!! Hell Monkey has joined the Dominion!! All is lost!! All is lost!!! as the Dominion beat Idol to a bloody mess until security intervened.C- Overall Show: C Notes: Sellout crowd tonight to witness XXCW's first real heel turn and one of our biggest angles to date. We've also been in talks with slightly bigger venues for shows, one being the New Mexico Armory, which seats 1000 people.

Then along comes this skinny little pretty boy Brendon Idol. The girls love him, the fans scream for him and next thing I know, I'm pushed aside. He's getting all of my title shots and I'm pushed down the card. I was the one that brought him to the main events as my tag partner! He owes everything to me and he stabbed me in the back. I'm going to get that Mid Southern title and in the process, I'm going to end Idol's career before it even starts!!" B+ Having heard enough, Brendon Idol charges the ring with a steel chair but is restrained by security and officials. C Samoan Wrecking Crew (w/ John Greed) d. Suicide Xtreme Borne and Maxx made a good showing for themselves but were overcome by the awesome power and wrestling acumen of the SWC. Machine slaps on the Unbreakable Choke for the tap out. D Not done with the babyfaces, John Greed orders SWC to brutalize Borne and Maxx. Masked Mayhem charges the ring for the save and we have the first face to face meeting between these two top teams! E Remmy Skye d. Flemmy Lemming Good match, nothing too special. Lemming got to work some impressive mat holds and Skye showcased his unique flying moves. Hits the Skye Diver for the win. D Brendon Idol is backstage with the Mid Southern Title in his lap: "Last month was one of the darkest moments of my professional life. Someone I trusted, someone I looked up to, someone I called a friend...turned his back on me in the most cowardly and violent way possible. Nevada Nuclear to retain the XXCW Mid Southern Title Outstanding match as Idol fought with a fury that had been missing in his earlier matches. Nuclear was no slouch either and both men really stepped up their games tonight to show that they are the future of this company and of the industry overall. Idol won it with a back suplex bridge. C Hell Monkey (who it appeared had left the building) charges the ring and he and Idol brawl as the crowd goes ballistic. The New Mexico Armory will be our new home for monthy shows for the time being, but we want to thank everyone at Whiskey Sours and assure our fans that we will be back for shows! Ted Ross welcomes fans to the New Mexico Armory and hypes the main event...Hell Monkey challenging Brendon Idol for the Mid Southern Title!! C Plague d. Joey Poison We get right into action and no better way to start off the show than the human highlight reel Plague taking on the charismatic Joey Poison. Plague puts his body on the line to gain an advantage in this even, hard fought match. Plague debuts the Exit 7 (Michinoku Driver) as his secondary finisher and takes the win. C Joss Thompson comes to the ring: "What's up, morons? The Real Deal is in the hizzy. Tonight I the brain surgeons that comprise this company's booking have put me against Remmy Skye, the Flying Fruitcake. Lets get this over with, I've got @#$! to do!" Thompson is gold on the mic C+ Joss Thompson d. Remmy Skye Skye came out and even though he has the laid back, cool demeanor...he kicked Joss' ass all over the ring. Thompson got lucky and reversed a back flying elbow into the Clean Cutter and a healthy handful of tights for the win. C- We go to a video announcing that Darryl Devine is off his 6 month suspension and will be returning to XXCW next month! It actually drew a lot of cheers. C Prof. Nero is backstage with Mister Blister: "Westybrook, your time has come. A First Blood match with a man who is indestructible? Are you insane? You can't cut this monster, he doesn't bleed. But you, my friend, you will be wearing the crimson mask and begging for mercy before it's done." C Tim Westybrook d. Mister Blister in a First Blood Match Short, tight brawl as Blister can't go too long. Really stiff shots and it came off looking more like a street fight than a worked wrestling match. Tim protected Blister. Blister dominated until Tim was able to get him off his feet and then lay in a flurry of stiff punches that opened up the giant and the ref called the match. C- John Greed comes to the ring with his Samoan Wrecking Crew: "Tonight, you are all about to witness history. Never before has a team been so dominant. Never before has a team been this good. You boo them and jeer them because they are not the wild samoan stereotype. Barefoot eating raw fish. These are wrestling machines and I defy anyone to beat them!" C+ The Samoan Wrecking Crew (w/ John Greed) d. Masked Mayhem to win the XXCW Mid Southern Tag Team Titles SWC got a lot of heat on the masked babyfaces and Snap Dragon especially. He was worked over until all looked lost and he made the hot tag to American Elemental. Elemental came in and took over the advantage and at one point looked to have Samoan Machine wrapped up for the pin. A stiff kick from Rhino broke it up and allowed Machine to slap on the Unbreakable Sleeper for the knockout win. Really good stuff and this feud should get even better C- Prof. Nero and Hell Monkey: "I'm already in a bad mood with Blister getting cheated out his match with Westybrook. You will bear the brunt of that Idol" He turns to Hell Monkey: A year of being pushed down and held back, let that bile, that hatred rise in you. Use it. Use it and destroy Brendon Idol and take that Mid Southern Title for the Dominion!!" C+ We try to get a word with Brendon Idol as he warms up for the match. He is intense and focused and walks with a purpose to the ring. A Hell Monkey d. Brendon Idol for the XXCW Mid Southern Title Definite XXCW Match of the Year contender as these two men put on a show and one of the best overall matches ever held in XXCW. 20 minutes of hard hitting moves and some of the most state of the art athletics seen. Monkey gave Idol a ton of offense and it looked like the champ might pull it out a few times. Monkey's Hell Fire Kick from the top rope nearly knocked out Idol's teeth and then a Tumbling Monkey finished him off for the title win. Clean finish and an amazing match by both men. Standing ovation afterwards! C+ Overall Show: C Notes: The move to the Armory was a welcome change as the extra 190 tickets we sold helped us break even on this star studded show. The hype for Idol-Monkey and their first match (especially after the heel turn) drew good numbers and necessitated the venue change. Idol, at this point in time, isn't a guy we can build the whole promotion around as we try to step up a level. He will definitely be in the main events though and future MS Title reigns are most certainly on the horizon. A lot of contracts recently got renewed and Hell Monkey, especially, is costing a hefty sum. It's worth it though as we're in the high 20's for Popularity and could be a Regional promotion with potential for a small tv show at the beginning of next year. In other contract news, Marc Speed and Jeremy Jazz did not have their contracts renewed. We wish them the best and hope to work on future projects together. You are old news Devine and you need to get out of our ring before you get yourself hurt." Devine looked at Mister Blister: "You with these losers now?" With that, Nero orders his men to beat on Devine to which Blister joins in without hesitation. Brendon Idol and Tim Westybrook charge out for the save.C+ We go to a video showcasing the team of Suicide Xtreme. C Tim Westybrook d. Mister Blister after outside interference from Darryl Devine Another strong, stiff brawl between these two heavyweights. This match was contested under "Hardcore Rules" and Devine interfered and hit the DDD on Blister to a huge pop. That allowed Westybrook to hit the Iron Bomb for the win. C- John Greed hypes his Samoan Wrecking Crew: "I told you and I warned you and everything I said came true. SWC are just awesome to behold and AE and Snap Dragon seem like the perfect foils. All four men spill to the outside and the ref stops the match after losing control C- Brendon Idol hypes his rematch for the Mid Southern Title: "Hell Monkey, I'll give you credit. You took me to limits I never thought were possible to hit. We had one of the greatest matches in XXCW history and tonight we're going to do it again. Only this time the results will be different" C+ Brendon Idol d. Hell Monkey (w/ Prof Nero & Mister Blister) by DQ; Hell Monkey retains the Mid Southern Title Another great match between these two as they have really elevated the Mid Southern Title with their heated feud. Idol looked to have the advantage when Mister Blister and Nero interfered drawing the DQ and saving the title for Hell Monkey. C+ The Dominion continues to pound on Idol as Devin charges out with a baseball bat and chases off the heels. Idol gets to his feet and he and Devine stare each other down. Pretty even until the 5 minute mark when Joss Thompson enters. Elemental survived the double team and pinned Greed with a roll up. Next in was Tim Westybrook and then Nevada Nuclear. Darryl Devine was in last. Devine was actually eliminated in short time when Mister Blister made a surprise appearance and interfered. Next out was Elemental, leaving Thompson, Nuclear and Wesybrook. Nuclear turned on Thompson and pinned him and was the victim of the Iron Bomb for the pin and win by Westybrook! C Nero and Hell Monkey hype the Texas Death match: Idol you have no idea what you're getting into" C+ Hell Monkey d. Brendon Idol in a Texas Death Match to retain the Mid Southern Title Another stellar outing between these two. Idol actually scored the first pin with a flying DDT but Hell was able to beat the 10 count. Monkey went on to score about 5 or 6 falls on Idol after a vicious piledriver onto a chair, but Brendon fought to his feet to the roar of the crowd. Finally, Hell Monkey hit a top rope Hell Fire Kick and Idol couldn't meet the bell. D Joss Thompson hosts the Real Deal with his best friend John Greed and Mid Southern Tag Team Champions The Samoan Wrecking Crew: You saw how I just destroyed Remmy Skye two months ago with no help from anyone, right? With a lack of tag team depth, I can't just give them a huge push with wins and their other skills aren't bringing them up at this point. Having said that, a decent match and these guys are good enough workers to warrant keeping on the roster. Lemming with the Suicide Solution. E Brendon Idol is backstage and about to be interviewed when out of nowhere, Plague blindsides him and leaves him laying. Medics rush over. I'll outsmart you and then I'm just going to plain beat you at Road to the Gold. C Remmy Skye d. John Greed Joss Thompson sat in on commentary once again. Good match and good high flying. Thompson was told if he interfered he would be suspended indefinitely so Remmy took the win with the Skye Diver. After the match Skye said he wanted a piece of Joss at RttG and the match was signed! D A table is set up in the ring as Hell Monkey and Tim Westybrook appear to sign the contracts for their Mid Southern Title match at Road to the Gold. Prof Nero: Thank goodness you're signing your name, otherwise we wouldn't know who the hell you are!!" Tim Westybrook: "You'll remember my name soon enough once I take your boy and toss him around the ring like a shot put...and then strap on that Mid Southern Title for myself." And with that, the table flips, chaos ensues and the inevitable staredown. C The Samoan Wrecking Crew went to a no contest with Masked Mayhem Tempers were at an all time high as these two teams tore into each other with a savage fury. American Elemental and Snap Dragon showed a lot more offense than they have in the past and really took it to Machine and Umaga. The ref ended up losing all control and had to throw the entire match out!! C Overall Show: C- Notes: Signed right after the main event was a 2/3 Falls match for the Mid Southern Tag Team Titles at RttG!! I have trained Nevada Nuclear to be one of the most sadistic wrestlers in the world. Your pitiful strong style is no match for his savagery" B Frankie Perez d. Mister Blister Devine did exactly what he set out to do which is to tire out Blister and then outsmart him. Devine took as ass whupping along the way though, but a top rope DDD scored the pin. C Brendon Idol warms up for his math against Plague B+ Plague d. Brendon Idol Big win for Plague who is being groomed for a title run at some point. Idol has , sadly, hit his "Billy Gunn limit" at 40.9% overness and that's seems to be at where he'll stay. He had his main event run though and did a great job, so we'll continue to have him hover at the upper card or even tag up and go for the tag titles. Plague hit the Jersey Turnpike for the win after a missed Idolizer. C John Greed hypes the Mid Southern Tag Title match: Two out three falls? Are you insane? Are you two gluttons for punishment? Masked Mayhem, all I can say is I hope your insurance is paid up because you are going to get beat and get hurt." C+ The Samoan Wrecking Crew d. Masked Mayhem in two straight falls to retain the Mid Southern Tag Titles SWC had a strategy going in and worked it to perfection. As the first fall was getting heated, Greed gave the signal and the Samoans took it to the outside. With Greed distracting the ref, Machine hit a Samoan Driver on Dragon on the concrete and got a countout. After that, they took advantage of the injured Snap Dragon and took the second fall as well. SWC remains undefeated! C- Hell Monkey gets ready for his title defense and refuses any interviews B+ Hell Monkey d. Tim Westybrook to retain the Mid Southern Title Another possible Match of the Year contender, I don't envy the voters (oh wait, that's me :) ) Westybrook took Hell Monkey to the limit and the champ was lucky to escape with the title. This match was all about making Westybrook look dominant and another XXCW star may have been created in the process. Fantastic match. Hell Monkey had to use the title belt to KO Tim and score the win. C+ Overall Show: C Notes: We're inching closer to a Regional status. shipshirt
XXCW Year End Awards 2007 It was a great year for the company as we really made huge progress. Not too many new signings as we focused on creating names with the workers we had. The year had the best wrestling we've seen yet. Lets get onto the awards! XXCW Wrestler of the Year: Hell Monkey Poor Brendon Idol seems to have peaked too soon. He was in the running for the award early in the year, but Hell Monkey's huge heel turn and dominating run as Mid Southern Champion gives him the nod. He is still a strong champion as 2008 begins and we'll see if he can be the top wrestler for yet another year. XXCW Tag Team of the Year: The Samoan Wrecking Crew With a monster push reminiscient of the Road Warriors, the SWC redefined tag team wrestling and what the stereotypical perception of the Samoan wrestler was. They stormed their way into the promotion and remain undefeated. It's going to take an amazing team to knock them off their perch. XXCW Match of the Year: Hell Monkey d. Brendon Idol in a Texas Death Match at Stampede Scramble It was a great year for actual wrestling in Texas with the matches themselves taking center stage. Among the amazing crop to choose from (all seemingly containing either Devine, Idol or Monkey) this one just edges out Hell Monkey's title win and his recent defense over Tim Westybrook for it's sheer emotion and passion. Idol scored the initial fall but Monkey made it to his feet before the 10 count. Monkey then brutalized Idol for the next portion of the match and scored a number of falls, each time seeing Idol rise before the 10 count sounded. Frustrated at the heart of the young former champion, Monkey had to pull out all the stops to put Idol down and keep him down. XXCW Show of the Year: Summer Blockbuster '07 It was a show that saw the two major titles in XXCW change hands and beging the dominance of both the tag team and wrestler of the year in Texas. Tim Westybrook also established himself as someone to reckon with by defeating Mister Blister and we saw the first inklings of potential from Remmy Skye and Joss Thompson. If you only buy one XXCW dvd a year, this is the one to get.

Davis is on his way out of XXCW after playing jobber for the past year. E Prof. Nero comes to the ring with Hell Monkey: "Once again, the buffoons in XXCW management are desperate to get the Mid Southern title off of Hell Monkey. Tonight, in their misguided efforts, they sacrifice Remmy Skye to us. No matter, he will be destroyed like the rest." When asked about Tim Westybrook's showing last month at RttG, Nero replies: "He had his chance, there will be no more" B+ Art Reed d. Flemmy Lemming Another debut tonight, albeit one with more fanfare than Strong's. Reed is a highly touted athlete who made a name with DAVE the past few years. He and Flemmy put on a clinic as Lemming can really go when given the opportunity. Reed finished him off with the Dread Lock for the win. C Backstage, Tim Westybrook is working out when he is approached by Frankie Perez: "I heard what Nero said about you not getting anymore title shots...but I also saw what you did in that ring last month. I see Greed and the Samoan Wrecking Crew walking around like they own the place and I was thinking...we should team up and go for the tag titles." Tim agrees and the two men shake on it. C- Art Reed is returning to the backstage area after his match and bumps into Darryl Devine: "Look Reed, I know you think you're going to come in here and turn the company on it's ear. This is my company, I built it and watched it grow. Just watch your step." C+ We go to a video showing Suicide Xtreme winning the Triangle Tag Match at RttG to earn their MS Tag Title shot tonight. C Samoan Wrecking Crew d. Suicide Xtreme by countout to retain the Mid Southern Tag Titles Borne and Maxx put out a fantastic effort against the dominating tag champs. At first they seemed overmatched but fought back to gain an advantage that stunned the champs. Borne hit a textbook high cross body for a 2.5 count. After that, the SWC snapped and beat on Suicide Xtreme outside the ring until they couldn't answer the 10 count. C- Remmy Skye is interviewed about his title shot coming up next: "Yeah dude, it's wild. I've been wanting something like this since I came to Texas. Hell Monkey kicks ass but I think I've got a few tricks I can pull out." D We go to a video taped sit down interview with former XXCW Mid Southern Champion Brendon Idol: "It's been a tough couple of months ever since dropping the Mid Southern Title. I feel like I've hit a wall. I guess I just need to dig inside me and see what I'm truly made of." C Hell Monkey d. Remmy Skye to retain the Mid Southern Title Another in the long line of great matches from Hell Monkey. He is at the point where he can carry workers to great matches until they get their own feet under them. This was no exception. Monkey used a combo of stiff, strong style and then they took to the air. Skye missed a Skye Diver and Monkey hit the Tumbling Monkey for the win. C+ Overall Show: C Notes: This was the show that did it! We edged into a C- in Popularity for the Mid South region. We are currently at an E in both the Mid West and Southwest. shipshirt
XXCW Newsbites: ** It's official...Darryl "Mighty Fine" Devine has signed with the Supreme Wrestling Federation and will be leaving Double Cross Championship Wrestling. February's Collision Course show at New Mexico Armory had to be pushed up two weeks in order to get one last appearance from Darryl. So make sure to get your tickets for what will be his last Texas appearance in quite some time. In an interview, he had this to say: "I can't tell you how much the opportunity that Prof. Nero gave to me means to my career. He gave me the ball and I ran with it for a year. I was proud to help get this promotion off the ground and be it's standard bearer for that length of time. Now that it's considered a Regional promotion, I see only huge things coming for it. There's a great roster of guys like Hell Monkey, Plague, Samoan Machine, Tim Westybrook, Art Reed...the list goes on and on." When asked of some of his favorite moments in XXCW: "Probably helping to make Brendon Idol would be first on the list. He came in and had such momentum early on and we just went with it. I've heard some rumblings from fans that he hit the wall and is all he'll ever be...but I wouldn't put money on that. He's got a lot in him." And on the future: "Who knows? It looks like I'll be starting off lower card for SWF but we all know that isn't gonna last too long (he grins). That SWF Shooting Star title would make a nice addition to my collection of championships, don'tcha think?"

In other news, we've reached a television deal with Mid South Cable Access and will begin airing XXCW Shotgun next month. The first show will be from the Southwest's Simmons Center! Darryl Devine comes to the ring to huge cheers and chants of "PLEASE DON'T GO!": "Obviously, you fans know that this is my last match in XXCW. Having said that, I hope you'll all check me out on SWF Supreme TV every Tuesday at 9:00 on America Sports 1. Now, tonight XXCW management told me I could choose my last opponent. They took Hell Monkey off the list, though, because everyone knows I would have kicked his monkey ass and took the Mid Southern Title to the SWF with me. I thought about it and then I realized that of all my amazing accomplishments here, there's one thing I haven't done...that's pin Brendon Idol's shoulders to the mat. So Brendon, what do you say? They work together as if they'd always been teaming and this was a really good match. The Score has a great chemistry but are so not over that they're under. Westybrook hit the Iron Bomb and Perez slapped on the P Clutch C- Hell Monkey cuts a promo: "Devine, I've never been so happy to see someone leave. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out. If you fans want to see a real champion in action, check out the debut of XXCW Shotgun on Mid South Cable Access next month and I'll be defending the Mid South title against Joey Posion on the debut episode." C+ Prof Nero steps into the frame with Plague: "No worries, Monkey, we'll make sure you keep that title in the Dominion. Tonight my boy Plague has a mission...that is to destroy the one they call Snap Dragon." C Snap Dragon went to a 20 minute time limit draw with Plague They called this one in the ring and it seemed to work out for them. These two men held nothing back and just went for the best match they could have. The finish came with nearly 10 near falls in the last 5 minutes as they went to rapid fire attempts as the time limit sounded. C We got to a video hyping XXCW newcomer Art Reed. He speaks about facing guys like Darryl Devine and Hell Monkey in his time with DAVE and now he looks to make a name for himself here. C+ Brendon Idol d. Darryl Devine Devine did the honors on his way out in a surprising loss to Idol. A lot of fans thought Devine would finally get his win but he insisted on putting over Brendon. One of their best matches and Idol bumped his ass off and really sold for Devine's offense. Devine hit the DDD and got ****y, allowing Idol to roll him up in a small package for the win. C+ Overall Show: C+ Notes: Devine will definitely be missed, but his enormous paycheck certainly won't :) It also opens up some top slots for new names to step up and see what they can contribute. With the new TV show, things should get very interesting.
