5SSW: Open the 5 Star Gate

Recommended Posts

GHHRaLF.jpg

Following the retirements of the Magic Three and the Tsunami of 2016 5-Star Supreme Wrestling were in a tough spot. The economy was down and the decision to join the Modern Japan Movement did more harm than good to the companies business. After stopping the bleeding and managing to get the company stabilized somewhat, things were looking up for the company.

In the ring, the action was as good as always, with a brand new generation starting to develop and come into their own, but in the time in the shadows, something interesting had happened. The roster, always a constantly shifting web of alliances and rivalries had coalesced into something more rigid and codified. The alliances that were struck were being treated with more seriousness due to the uncertainty of the situation and soon full-blown organized units had formed.

The units are:

HEART Foundation - The main face unit. Formed through an alliance between Yuma Maruya and HEART Saitoh they represent pure babyface spirit through and through. Their members are all never-say-die, lively wrestlers who show a spectacular amount of fight in their matches against all odds.

World Warriors - Led by Megumi Nakajima and serve to provide a home for more world traveled members of the 5-Star roster and also those that find joy in the pureness of competition. It is also currently the frequent home to any gaijin that join the promotion.

TECHNIQUE - Shiori Jippensha's unit, as the name suggests, is home to the more technical minded wrestlers in 5SSW. Frequently acting in a more tweener role, the group is known for tying their opponents in knots regardless of alignment and also bending the rules but never breaking them. A frequent cry during their matches being "We have 'til five!"

Death Ballet - Formed by Fuyuko Higa and Gemmei Oonishi, they serve as the main antagonistic force in 5SSW, provoking fights with all of the other units. Made up of wrestlers who believe themselves better or stronger than the rest of the 5-Star roster, Death Ballet are frequently referred to as the bullies of the company.

REAL SHOOTERS - A newer unit formed by Romi Yamato, REAL SHOOTERS provides a home for all of the kickboxing and MMA influenced workers in 5SSW. Currently, they are just starting to build momentum but their offence is starting to see them stand out.

NEWS UPDATE

5-Star Supreme Wrestling are excited to announce the hiring of a new class of Young Lionesses. They are
Aki Kamio
,
Kichi Mochizuki
,
Spider Isako
and
Yayoi Kurmochi
. All four are graduates of retired 5SSW star Kit Hatoyama’s dojo and come with her recommendation. At first the lionesses will only be working pre-show matches and performing second duties at ringside so they can gain experience and learn from their more experienced seniors. Once they are deemed to be a suitable skill level they will then debut on the main shows after which their performances will be assessed to determine when they will be able to depart for their excursions.

Opp5ArM.jpg

After beginning the year with Reign Supreme, 5-Star Supreme Wrestling will be returning later on in January with the Women of Wrestling Tour! Following her defeat of Unstoppable Tai, Yuma Maruya doesn't have any immediate challengers but will be returning to action against Death Ballet on the first night of the WoW Tour!

Elsewhere there seems to be bad blood developing between TECHNIQUE and REAL SHOOTERS after their leaders Shiori Jippensha and Romi Yamato had a tense exchange at Reign Supreme, expect to see more fireworks when these two factions square off on the first night of the WoW Tour.

Prediction Key

TECHNIQUE (Miwako Katsukawa & Sae Akutagawa) vs Torment & Sorrow (Maki Yoshifumi & Yu Hashimoto)

World Warriors (Megumi Nakajima, Lady Lotus & Thea Davis) vs Death Ballet (Hana Ajibana, Machiko Matsuda & Monster Ishimura)

HEART Foundation (Yukiko Matsumara, Otsune Tsumura & Kinuye Mushashibo) vs World Warriors (Kaede Sugiyama, Selina Svelte & Talia Quinzel)

TECHNIQUE (Shiori Jippensha, Chiyeko Kita & Etsuko Arihyoshi) vs REAL SHOOTERS (Romi Yamato, Eri Sato & Ochiyo Iijima)

HEART Foundation (Yuma Maruya, HEART Saitoh, Paige Croft & MAYA) vs Death Ballet (Fuyuko Higa, Gemmei Oonishi, Unstoppable Tai & Toku Kijmuta)

OOC STUFF: Alright so now that all the introductory stuff has been put up, welcome to my first diary.

To explain how the shows are going to work ahead of time, most tour shows will feature shorter descriptions and notes of the events of the matches unless they are more important shows such as the opening and final nights. Meanwhile, events will feature full match write-ups for select highlight matches.

I'll also sprinkle in some press conferences after events and such to set up storylines and things.

This diary is partially inspired by the Dragon Gate and STARDOM way of managing units so they'll be playing a heavy part in the proceedings going forward.

Also, I am very open to feedback on the format and such going forward.

But yeah I think that covers everything so hopefully you all enjoy!

In all seriousness though, good luck with the diary man, cool to see more 5-Star in the Dynasty section. I like some of the concepts, but I'ma reel off some bullet point thoughts real quick.

-So is this whole "entire tour show is tags" bit the way I was supposed to be doing it with 5SSW all this time? Have I been offending puro heads with every show? (Well, I book like a gaijin with a rough understanding of puro anyways because thats what I am, but thats beside the point.). I had remembered hearing that a 2/3 or a 3/5 ratio of singles to tags was acceptable, but maybe it depends on the fed.

-I get why a lot of 2016 diary people (and you) have Jippensha and Maruya doing their own separate things, but honestly I think Jippensha was the only one with the real kayfabe power level to stand with Maruya against the ANTI for so long (Well, the game bios want us to believe Saitoh's great, but she kinda isn't, and would've been busy having that blood feud with Nagatsuka over the years even if she was.)

-The Heart Foundation is such a collection of midcard geeks I thought I was at a 21CW show! (ba-dum-tiss!)

-So is Nakajima sorta a mellowed out tweener heel in your dynasty too? I'm guessing the Higa/Oonishi bit is meant to be the primary threatening faction, with Yamato/Jippensha/Nakajaima being tweener-ish?

-Death Ballet is GREAT, although Matsuda really sticks out in this stable. A couple new renders could fix that. I prefer to re-unite the Kanto Express because it's not like I'd be doing anything super-productive with either gal as singles (MAYA is close to being worthy of a future push but needs to learn how to sell and how to talk, and that seems to be hard in this game). You take the other 6, and if you dress up Oonishi like Higa, that looks like a group that could conceivably hang out together and have something in common. But Matsuda with her flashy 20 year old chic gal at a mall render doesn't fit the group right. Just my opinion.

-Watch out for Higa, she has a tendency of taking over your shows without you realizing it. Well, I guess shes the primary threat stable head so that's gonna happen anyways.

-Maya and Hashimoto's renders are gonna take some getting used to.

-Jippensha's stable looks great, but I really wish there was a way to work Yamato into it. I'm telling you all, Yamato/Akutagawa is a natural pairing.

-What kind of low-roll RNG got a 38 promo from Yuma? She should be cutting 50 rated promos out of the gate scripted, shouldn't she?

-Just a heads-up in case you haven't played 2020 a ton: Ishimura and Tai will be nearly impossible to get over by traditional monster means.

-I get why you wanted the Hatoyama class together, but Spider Isako as a typicalyoung lion is a waste. I see Isako the same way OVW saw Dave Batista: He's not gonna be taking arm drags in the second match, with him its main event or nothing. Isako is the kind of girl with the kind of gimmick that could head a stable like Death Ballet at some point, so honestly I'd put her under a hood or something and let her learn the trade before exposing the Dark Priestess Spider Isako to the world. Maybe it's different in Japan IRL and the fans would sorta accept that Isako sucks at first before becoming awesome, but I think a gimmick like that needs protecting.

Okay so! To answer some of the ones that I'm able to answer without giving too much away.

- The tour card booking thing isn't a hard and fast rule but in general you tend to see more tags or tour shows that give previews of the PPV bouts and hype for them, so I've adopted that style of running tour shows. Although there will be some singles matches that occur here or there.

- In terms of alignment from Face to Heel, HEART Foundation is the pure babyface group, followed by World Warriors who are still faces but are bit more competitive then TECHNIQUE who are nominally faces but tend to be more heelish and rule-bendy then the prior two groups, REAL SHOOTERS are the tweener group and then Death Ballet are pure heels

- As for Tai, Higa, Spider et al. you'll have to wait and see *taps nose*

60

Post-match Shiori and Romi once again exchange words, but after something is said this quickly descends into pushing, and then punches are being thrown! 63

QGdMvJX.jpg

After the match, Higa snatches the 5SSW World Championship and a microphone from ringside and enters the ring to stand over the body of the fallen Yuma.

"Hey, hey Yuma. I bet that hurt huh? Did you think you'd win just like you did last time? You think I'd fall for that? You must really damn stupid to think you could beat me like that. You and your whole group always come out here talking about fighting spirit and enjoying being friends you don't have a brain between you!

"So I think, since I have a brain and since I am Miss Perfection and since I did just beat you, it's only fair my constant genius is rewarded with a title match at Women of Wrestling. What do you say?"

Higa holds the microphone out to the downed Yuma for a moment before pulling it back.

"Can't talk at the moment huh? That's good, it saves us from having to hear your stupid voice. See you tomorrow night loser!"

With that Higa tosses the microphone and belt down by the fallen Yuma and leaves the ring flanked by the other members of Death Ballet, who play to the camera with crying baby motions as the show fades to black.

5SSW WoW Tour Day#2

Friday, Week 3, January 2020

With her pinfall victory over the champion on night one of the tour Fuyuko Higa has staked her claim to the next title shot! As such she and Yuma will share the ring again on day two as HEART Foundation go head to head with Death Ballet! Following Higa's taunting many expect Yuma to offer a reply in what is sure to be a highlight bout.

Following the brawl between Shiori Jippensha and Romi Yamato another match has been scheduled, with neither women in any clear title contention this could offer a chance to put themselves in that conversation or will their bad blood boil over into another brawl?

Meanwhile, Unstoppable Tai gained a bit of satisfaction following her sides victory over Yuma on night one but faces a tough test in night two as the TermiNation stands opposite the World Warrior team of Megumi Nakajima and Lady Lotus, could this be a chance for The TermiNation to start moving towards a world tag team championship opportunity?

Prediction Key

Death Ballet (Machiko Matsuda & Monster Ishimura) vs HEART Foundation (Yukiko Matsumara & MAYA)

The TermiNation (Unstoppable Tai & Toku Kijmuta) vs World Warriors (Megumi Nakajima & Lady Lotus)

Death Ballet (Fuyuko Higa, Gemmei Oonishi & Hana Ajibana) vs HEART Foundation (Yuma Maruya, HEART Saitoh & Ostune Tsumura)

57

QGdMvJX.jpgrIfQNH7.jpg

After the match, Higa once again dashes to try and snatch a microphone and the 5SSW World Championship from ringside but is prevented by Yuma. Instead, she merely picks up a microphone and stands on the apron while Yuma holds the championship and a microphone of her own in the ring.

"Would you look at that Yuma, another victory for Death Ballet over your group of babies. I bet that stings huh? It must really suck to team with suck weak idiots. They could never measure up to 'Miss Perfection' and the rest of Death Ballet."

"You talk too much Higa, get to the point."

"I pinned you Yuma, so I want a title shot."

"Okay, you're on! But I hope you're ready for a fight because you're going to have to prove that you deserve that Miss Perfection name, because last I checked you've never actually won this title have you?"

Yuma raises the 5SSW World Championship to emphasize her point. From where she is stood on the apron Higa can be seen with a annoyed smirk on her face before raising the microphone back to her lips.

"Yeah well, keep it nice and shiny for me, I want it looking its best when I win it from you."

And with that she drops the mic and departs with the other members of Death Ballet.

37

After the match, Romi rolls to the outside of the ring and picks up the 5SSW All-Asian Championship from ringside. Once she reenters the ring Yamato kicks away the young lionesses that are tending to Katsukawa and stands above her, title belt held high and eyes locked on Jippensha.

5SSW WoW Tour Day #5 & Day #6

Sunday, Week 4, January 2020 & Wednesday, Week 1, February 2020

It's time for the last two stops before Women of Wrestling!

As things stand between the units REAL SHOOTERS hold the momentum advantage over TECHNIQUE, while Death Ballet have managed to stay one step ahead of HEART Foundation.

The highlight matches of Day #5 will see The Uprising testing themselves in non-title competition as they take on the team of Hana Ajibana and Machiko Matsuda, newly christened as Attitude Adjustment! The young upstart team had a strong showing on Day #4 so it will be interesting to see if they can translate that into success against the top gaijins in 5SSW!

Then in a HEART Foundation vs Death Ballet matchup, Yuma Maruya and HEART Saitoh team up once again to take on The TermiNation! Yuma and HEART haven't had any luck in recent days and look to turn that around here against two members of Death Ballet's self-proclaimed 'Monster Squad'!

And in the main event of Day #5, Romi Yamato and Torment & Sorrow team up to face-off against the TECHNIQUE team of Shiori Jippensha, Miwako Katsukawa & Saw Akutagawa! These two factions have been at war whenever Yamato and Jippensha share a ring so expect another fierce contest as TECHNIQUE attempt to avenge their recent losses!

Then Day #6 will be headlined by two big tag-team contests!

First Shiori Jippensha & 5SSW All-Asian Champion Miwako Katsukawa will take on REAL SHOOTERS tag specialists Torment & Sorrow!

Then in the main event Birds Of Prey will once again look to get the better of 5SSW World Champion Yuma Maruya as they rematch the team of her and HEART Saitoh! Will HEART Foundation be able to get an all-important win just days before Women of Wrestling?

5SSW Women of Wrestling

Friday, Week 1, February 2020

After another brilliant and fiercely contested tour everything comes to a head at Women of Wrestling!

The first match of the evening pits HEART Foundation against Death Ballet as HEART Saitoh leads a team against Death Ballet's co-leader Gemmei Oonishi and the newly formed team of Attitude Adjustment. While there is nothing but unit pride at stake whoever wins in this opening contest could set the tone for the rest of the evening.

The second match of the evening is also the first championship contest as MAYA defends the 5SSW Triangle Championship against World Warriors Kaede Sugiyama and Death Ballet's Toku Kijmuta. Toku also challenged at the last big event and narrowly missed out on breaking up the winning pinfall, whereas Sugiyama finished off the tour with a strong series of performances that have led to her being granted a championship opportunity.

The second title match of the evening sees the first of two clashes between REAL SHOOTERS and TECHNIQUE as Eri Sato challenges Miwako Katsukawa for the 5SSW All-Asian Championship. Eri gone 6-1 so far in the year including getting a pinfall over Katsukawa on Day #3. Meanwhile Katsukawa has had a much tougher stretch but wants to rebound and keep her title with TECHNIQUE.

The halfway point of the evening will see a grudge match between Shiori Jippensha and Romi Yamato. These two women have been at each others throats all year and have taken things up a notch during the Women of Wrestling tour with frequent brawls around the arena, as such they are being given the chance to have a singles match to have a decisive winner.

Then Megumi Nakajima looks to gain revenge against Unstoppable Tai, the two have split both their encounters on the tour 1-1 but following Nakajima's original victory Tai viciously attacked her and beat her down. Tai has since run roughshod over the other members of the 5SSW roster and Nakajima is looking to put the bully in her place and get a big win.

The penultimate matchup of the evening will see The Uprising defend their 5SSW Tag Team Championships against Team SUB. Team SUB have been on a good run of form, defeating Torment & Sorrow on Day #3 and then defeating The Uprising in six-women action when Arihyoshi made Svelte submit to the Arihyoshi Lockdown, will history repeat itself or will The Uprising continue to be a gaijin force in 5SSW?

And in the main event of the evening Yuma Maruya will defend the 5SSW World Championship against the co-leader of Death Ballet, Fuyuko Higa. On Day #1 of the tour Higa pinned Maruya following the Higa Green Driver and demanded a title shot which Yuma accepted. Ever since then Higa has been a thorn in the champions side, frequently mocking her and picking up wins. Yuma got a small measure of revenge on Day#6 when she picked up a victory against the Birds Of Prey in tag team action but she didn't manage to pin Higa. Both women have finishing maneuvers that have yet to be kicked out of, so who will manage to connect first? Will Yuma manage to hit the Split-Legged Moonsault that she has won all of her matches with? Or will Higa put Yuma down with the Higa Green Driver and walk out of Women of Wrestling as the new 5SSW World Champion?

Grudge Match

Shiori Jippensha vs Romi Yamato

45 Minute Time Limit

The match starts off fast as Romi jumps Shiori with a dropkick as she is entering the ring, sending her flying off the apron to the floor. Romi quickly follows this up with a running tope con giro through the ropes! A brawl soon follows on the outside with both women being whipped into the guardrail at points, and Shiori tearing off her ring jacket to whip Romi with it. As Shiori charges Romi on the outside she is elevated over Romi and the guardrail to the floor. Romi follows this up by throwing Shiori into the first row of seats and then climbing onto the guardrail to hit a huge double stomp onto Shiori and the front row.

Feeling like control of the match is on her side Romi has some swagger about her as she rolls Shiori back inside the ring but is caught with a dragon screw in the ropes, injuring her left leg. This sets up the story of the match as Shiori lives up to her “Excellence of Execution” nickname, focusing her offense on Romi’s injured leg to neutralize her famous kicks. She does this with shin breakers, dragon screws, and even a figure-four leglock while hanging off the ring post.

Romi however starts to show more and more fire and fighting spirit as the match goes on, always making sure to give a stiff reply to any offense Shiori puts forward. Romi also shows that she has the Jippensha Leglock well-scouted and avoids it at every turn. Eventually, this causes a frustrated Shiori to go for a piledriver only for Romi to sweep her legs out and land a big double stomp to the chest out of desperation.

As the time approaches twenty minutes the two women are reduced to throwing bombs at each other as the toll of their intense pace catches up with them. As Shiori appears to be getting the best of the exchange she hits the ropes only to run right into a jumping flying knee from Romi, stunning her! Romi wastes no time hitting a huge roundhouse kick to Shiori’s head that spins her around and then Romi grabs Shiori’s arms to hook her up and hits the Yamatotal!

1...2...3!

After her big victory, Romi poses in the ring with one foot on Shiori’s back and her hands in the REAL SHOOTERS gun sign as the ringside photographers take photos.

Romi Yamato
defeated
Shiori Jippensha
in 21:44 by pinfall with the Yamatotal.

Megumi Nakajima vs Unstoppable Tai

30 Minute Time Limit

Unlike the previous match, both women start in the ring with a lock-up. Megumi gets the early advantage thanks to her superior pure wrestling skills but makes a tactical error when she attempts a running attack off the ropes, allowing Tai to run her over with a shoulder block. Tai is quick to take advantage of this opening and goes to work hitting Megumi with a sixty-second delayed vertical suplex for a two-count. She then lifts Megumi up for what appears to be another suplex onto to viciously drop her across the top rope.

Megumi rolls to the outside in an attempt to slow the assault from the larger, more powerful women but Tai follows her out there and military presses her into the air to slam her onto the apron!

After Tai reenters the ring she dominates Megumi some more but when she goes for a Tai Bomber Megumi ducks under and springboards off the ropes with a big moonsault that Tai appears to catch but Megumi transitions into a huge swinging DDT!

Not wasting any time Megumi climbs up to the top rope and hits a big frog splash!

1...2..Tai kicks out!

Megumi attempts to hook Tai up for the Exploder but instead finds herself launched over Tai’s head with a release belly-to-belly. As a dazed Megumi is rising to her feet Tai signals for her signature Tai Bomber lariat, and rushes across the ring to almost decapitate Megumi!

1...2...2.9!

Megumi throws her shoulder up at the last moment but Tai hauls her up by the hair for a powerbomb only for Megumi to roll through and up and over Tai’s shoulders into a sunset flip for a close near fall.

A frustrated and potentially panicked Tai goes for a desperation Tai Bomber as the two women rise to their feet but Megumi ducks under her arm and uses her momentum to haul her up into the Exploder!

1...2...3!

Megumi Nakajima
defeated
Unstoppable Tai
in 22:11 after she countered a Tai Bomber into the Exploder Suplex.

Yuma Maruya vs Fuyuko Higa

60 Minute Time Limit

As the match begins there is a tense staredown between the two competitors before they go into the first lock-up. Fuyuko immediately backs the champion into the ropes and pretends to give a clean break only to slap Yuma and dart to the outside to avoid retaliation. After Higa re-enters the ring the pair lock up again, and again Higa backs Yuma into the ropes and slaps her instead of giving a clean break. After exiting the ring again Higa and Gemmei mock Yuma by making crying baby gestures as head official Odaka attempts to get her to properly start the match.

After yet again re-entering the ring and backing Yuma into the ropes Higa goes for the break but is instead slapped by Yuma, knocking her to the ground. Yuma wastes no time in hitting Higa with big forearm strikes as she tries to get to her feet, each one knocking the challenger back down until she rolls to safety on the outside of the ring.

As Gemmei attempts to converse with Higa on the outside both of them are wiped out by a suicide dive from the champion! The crowd are on their feet as Yuma leaps up and slaps the ring apron. Yuma grabs Higa by the hair and takes her around the ringside area giving her stinging chops to the chest until Higa pokes her in the eye. Positioning Yuma against the guardrail, Higa gets Gemmei to irish-whip her so she can run and hit a big leaping clothesline to the champion, sending her over the guardrail backwards. Higa follows this attack up with a running crossbody dive over the guardrail and onto the champion.

Keeping the pressure on the champion Higa rolls her back into the ring and starts to go to work. Her game plan features a lot of work on Yuma’s midsection, clearly in an attempt to neutralize the effectiveness of the Split-Legged Moonsault that Yuma has been winning all her matches with. To this end, she hits backbreakers, gutbusters, heavy knees, and many more attacks that keep the focus on Yuma’s ribs.

Eventually, Yuma begins to get back into the match, and as Higa attempts to whip her into the turnbuckle she uses the ropes to float-over and onto the apron. Higa rushes in to try and grab her but Yuma knocks her away with a heavy forearm smash and then hits a big springboard Meteora to the challenger!

1...2!

Higa kicks out with authority but is clearly stunned, shaking her head as Yuma gets back to her feet, clutching her ribs. As Higa sits trying to shake off the cobwebs Yuma connects with a low dropkick to the back of the challengers’ head and then pulls her up into a tornado DDT using the middle rope to kick off.

Yuma goes to stand up and attempts to run off to hit the ropes but Higa grabs a hold of the back of her gear to prevent this and pulls Yuma back into a big backdrop suplex dropping the champion high on her shoulders and head!

1...2...2.9!

Yuma just pops her shoulder up! Not wasting any time Higa pulls Yuma up by the hair and hooks her up for a brainbuster!

1...2..2.9!

Yuma again kicks out! Throwing her arm up off the canvas as if it’s on fire. Sitting back on her knees Higa lets out a cry of frustration as Yuga slowly tries to sit-up. Standing Fuyuko brings her thumb across her throat in a slitting motion and signals for the Higa Green Driver. Higa pulls Yuma up and sets the champion up in position but Yuma wriggles free and lands behind Higa, leaping up she hits a poisoned rana on the challenger! Higa crashes head and neck first onto the mat and rolls over onto her back unmoving. Yuma, seeing her opportunity, ascends the turnbuckle and goes for the Split-Legged Moonsault but Higa gets the knees up!

She rolls Yuma up in a small package!

1

2

NO!

2.99! Yuma kicked out at the last possible moment. Both women lie exhausted in the ring as the ref administers the ten-count.

Eventually, Higa is the first to her feet and disposing of the fancy moves expected of Miss Perfection, plants Yuma hard onto the canvas with a powerbomb, not even attempting a cover Higa goes to set the champion up yet again for the Higa Green Driver, knowing that if she hits it she can keep Yuma down for three. But Yuma yet again slips free and pushes Higa off into the ropes, when Higa comes back she is met with a superkick that goes through her face, sending her the canvas like she’s been shot. Yuma falls into a cover but Higa just rolls her shoulder off the mat at the last moment. Yuma slams her hands into the mat and yets out a yell as the crowd cheers and claps along. She pulls Higa up, this time spiking the challenger with a brainbuster of her own!

But again Higa limply rolls her shoulder off the canvas. Gemmei can be seen frantically slapping the apron and calling out to Higa but the challenger seems to be dead on her feet as she stands up. Yuma sensing this picks Higa up and dumps her down by the corner. Ascending to the top rope Yuma stands for a moment before leaping back and twisting into the YUMA Special!

1…

2…

3!

The seconds and young lionesses rush into the ring to tend to the competitors and a limp and exhausted Fuyuko Higa is rolled out of the ring and helped backstage by Gemmei who glares back at the ring as Yuma is presented with the 5SSW World Championship and triumphantly holds it aloft, having defeated the top two members of Death Ballet in back-to-back defenses.

Yuma Maruya
defeated
Fuyuko Higa
in 23:35 by pinfall with the YUMA Special (
