The scary thing about this whole scifi deal and all these geeky gimmicks is that it's too reminiscent of the old WWF & WCW days. I wouldn't be suprised if they dragged out the old weasel suit !! That might well be the biggest fault with this, the new ECW is more like the old WWF & WCW - lots of stupid gimmicks and not so much wrestling, which ECW was supposed to be an alternative to. I think if vinny mac can pull his head out of his ass and let the new ECW be more like the PPVs we have had, it will succeed. I think people feel cheated because the show isn't anything near to what the PPVs have been, but I guess I'll find out on Sunday
The reason they have the Sci-Fi stuff is because of the Sci-Fi Channel themselves, they want that to happen, so as long as ECW remains on that channel, its going to continue to happen. Also, you can't do PPVish stuff on Sci-Fi, cause its a public cable channel, and you can't get away with the stuff on that cause of the FCC which would fine the hell outta Sci-Fi for things like the chanting and more then likely, major bleeding (though I'm not sure on the latter). Edit: And I noticed someone said something about the FCC not being able to take control over the channels like Sci-Fi, thats not true, I'm sure that the FCC has a watch on those sorta things, and yes, I am blaming the FCC for part of the problem.

The FCC can;t stop ECW from being ECW. Can they stop them from having guys laying in puddles of blood? Yea. Can they stop some of the chants? Yea. Can they stop GREAT wrestling?..No. Why not go with that, over pretty much absolutely nothing. I'd rather listen to Styles and Tazz, than watch half the crap they threw on television last week. Styles and Tazz are the only reason the show was worth much of anything. Sure, Angle's great. Battle Royal was decent. Sabu won! Yay! Sabu gets to job to Cena again! Yay! Sci Fi. FCC. Whatever. Wrestling is wrestling, these idiots just don't know how to book.
Lawler lost purely because of the outside interference.
So you're telling me if Styles didn't interfere, Lawler would've won? The match was less than a minute long [Styles getting slapped was longer] and Lawler was jobbed.
And I noticed someone said something about the FCC not being able to take control over the channels like Sci-Fi, thats not true, I'm sure that the FCC has a watch on those sorta things, and yes, I am blaming the FCC for part of the problem.
However, the FCC's regulatory domain with respect to indecency remains restricted to the public airwaves, notably VHF and UHF television and AM/FM radio. -Wikipedia VHF and UHF are channels you don't have to pay for, channels you can use an antenna for. You [should be] paying for cable, which is what Sci-Fi is on. It's all about sponsers.

No arguement. Simple fact of the matter remains, what they used to be allowed to do on PPV, Vince will never allow them so, so that point means nothing. Not to mention, evidentally now PPV's have standards, as you can't drop F bombs anymore if your name's paul heyman, but any porn you order, has the word 97 times or so. Makes sense.

Well, somewhat anyways, I mean, you can't have porn on during the middle of the day and whatnot, but the violence and chants should still be allowed, its like I said, it'd be a whole hell of a lot better without the FCC and any other thing like it.

The reason places like HBO allow you to say what you want is because there's no advertising on HBO. Therefore no need to worry what sponsers would think if someone's blowing someone's head off. The exact opposite with Cable TV where there is advertising. Some sponsers don't want to be associated with blood and gore, others could care less.

 • 2 weeks later...
sadly it has only taken 30 seconds to ruin ECW this week. :( Hopefully I am wrong edit: the kid in orange, was he on his cell during the main event? don't know if that is funny or sad. No matter how they explain the ending that show was BAD!

No mstter how they explain the ending that show was BAD!
I agree. That was so predictable, it was sad. I saw this developing 2 weeks ago. Heyman basically questioning RVD's manhood since One Night Stand, knowing the simpleton is going to want to play John Wayne every night. I actually thought Heyman would turn on RVD last week against Kurt Angle, until I heard Angle's out nursing injuries. Next person in line was.......duh. I'm really sick of Kelly. I'm hoping at some point Trinity comes out and lays her out, hardcore style. Introduce her to the Fall from Grace. LOVED the crowd chants though (best part of the show, hands down). "MARI-JUANA", "YOU TOOK STEROIDS!", etc. The ones during the Mike Knox-Guido match were priceless too. I'm guessing they were really scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with Test. After the Undertaker comes back and lays Dalip Singh to rest, they can send him to ECW from Smackdown (would be a promotion for him) and let him hurt people in Extreme Rules matches.

Big Show is the best choice right now. He should make a pretty good monster heel champion, which will make it special when an underdog finally beats him.. IF that's where they're going with it. The priest, by the way, was indy worker Tony Devito.
To me, seeing CM Punk on tv was good enough...... Big Show as champ..... Damn, Why not Dreamer? Why not Sandman? Why not anybody else?
Dreamer isn't bankable. Neither is Sandman. To WWE's audience (and let's face it, that's what this is. There are relatively few people who truly know what ECW is or was), Sandman = poor man's Stone Cold. You put the title on Show because he's a person your audience is familiar with and someone you can justify putting over an RVD without Vince Russo doing the writing. Now you can run an angle where Show destroys/hurts RVD or Heyman fires him so you can suspend RVD for the drug charges (or until such time the charges are resolved). I'd like to see what they're going to do with CM Punk. Maybe feud him with the FBI which might allow them to bring Shelly Martinez in as his manager (repackaged, of course)? And who has the ECW tag titles? Anyone?
now you forget its now part of WWE..... Tag Teams don't matter to them.......
Yeah, which is really stupid considering how many of their biggest stars came out of their tag team division (hello Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart). Imagine how much merchandising money they could make if they could find the next Dudley Boyz? Hell, they've got an entire stable out there ripe for the picking (Teddy Hart, Harry Smith, Bret, Anvil, and Nattie) that would be CRAZY marketable. And I don't think there's any danger of ECW not having a TV slot. WWE has enough clout and Viacom has enough cable stations to come up with SOMETHING. If not, I'm almost positive Disney would be willing to step in and put ECW on one of the ESPN stations (there's what, like 8 of 'em now?) which would be a perfect fit, demographically. That would probably give them a lock on one of, if not the, most coveted demographic group in business (the all-important 18-49 year old male). It would give Disney a foot in the door with the 'E when their USA contract is up too.
