ONI Wrestling- Starting from Scratch

Recommended Posts

San Diego, Late December, 2019...

For the last couple of years, the California wrestling scene has been a battleground between two rival promotions, Invincible Pro Wrestling and Grimm SoCal Wrestling. One company that split into two, ever since that day, they have battled for dominance over the region, each bringing their own style of hardcore wrestling to the scene. While nowhere near the most popular promotions in the country, their battles have put them at the forefront of the minds of local wrestling fans.

For many local wrestlers, signing with one company or the other seems to be a common choice. After all, they're the biggest major promotions nearby, and with them in the news constantly, it seems like a safe bet that they would get some eyes on themselves eventually, and maybe even get noticed by a bigger company to springboard their career to even greater heights.

However, one prospect doesn't have that in mind. And that is where this story begins, with one young woman in the process of figuring out the biggest decision of her life.

cP0iaP7.png

Makoto Majima was determined to break into the wrestling business. She had gone straight from high school to wrestling school almost every day since she was 15, and now she was 19, freshly graduated, and going over her options.

MM: I don't have to do this. Grimm and Invincible both have some solid talent, and I could really learn a lot from working with them.

She sighs and looks over the papers in her hands.

MM: But they're still Gil and Grimm. I don't wanna be part of their feud, because it's all gonna be about them at the end of the day anyway. I just want to wrestle.

She fills out her sheet. She was already this far along in the process, so she couldn't really stop now. She had some seed money thanks to working a lot of overtime at her job as well as some help from her friends, and all of the legal documentation that she needed was right in front of her. The only steps left were to fill it out and submit it.

There were still a lot of questions hanging over her. Was there any talent willing to sign on? Could she book a venue? Was there any space left between Grimm and Invincible? She knew a lot about wrestling, but she had zero business experience, so calling it a huge risk would be quite an understatement.

She had a few more vital moments of thinking it over, then shrugged.

MM: Well, I guess I can always move back home if this doesn't work.

Mentally pushing herself to finish, she put ink to paper on the last part of the documents: The company name. With a few strokes of her pen, it was done. She looked over her work and smiled.

ONI WRESTLING

MM: Yeah, I like the sound of that.

With everything in place, she pulls out her phone and started calling up her friends. There was work that needed to be done, and the word needed to get out. Workers, fans... she was gonna need both to hear the news.

<em>MM: Yeah, that's me. I'm pretty okay, I guess. Not gonna blow anyone away, but I just started. I got time. I'm not gonna push myself to the top of every card or anything, but you'd better believe I'm gonna be putting in work. I'm probably gonna stick around in midcard for a while and feel things out. Well... assuming I have a midcard. Counting me, there's only eight of us on the roster. I'll try to get who fits where straightened out later. Man, this is gonna be a lot of work...</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: First guy I signed, and can you blame me? Cool mask, and some decent skills to back it up. He's one of the best athletes we've got, and did I mention how awesome his mask is? Just one problem, though. We're a hardcore promotion, or at least kind of one, and the guy can't do hardcore matches. I guess I can just keep him out of hardcore matches to get around that, but that means that I've gotta make extra sure that everyone else can pick up the slack.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Okay, I was really hesitant to sign this guy considering his track record, but I had a limited pool of local talent. Plus, he came cheap. But I gotta say... he's pretty legit. He might have gotten fat, but he's still got moves. If he can keep from getting himself arrested again, then he could be a pretty strong addition. If he does mess up, though... I guess I'll try calling Remmy Skye again?</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Charlie Corner</strong></span></p><p>

Finisher: Corner Cutter</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Is this guy seriously 18? He's like, twice my size! Charlie's gonna be our big bruiser, obviously. He's super-athletic and has a ton of potential, but he's still kinda clumsy when it comes to actually, y'know... wrestling. Dude can seriously go though, and the Corner Cutter's pretty sick. Bonus points for a nice look, even if that look is basically "giant surfer dude". Staying optimistic on this guy.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Chip Martin</strong></span></p><p>

Finisher: Super Kick</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Future star? I dunno, but we're gonna be leaning hard into the second-gen superstar thing, so I'd better hope he is. His dad's basically east coast wrestling royalty, so he's got a lot of hype to live up to. Unfortunately, he showed up on the first day with a bruised kidney, so he's not gonna be able to wrestle on our first show. Hopefully his first match will be worth the wait.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>G Force</strong></span></p><p>

Finisher: Vomit Comet</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Dude's a backyarder with no training outside of filming himself jumping off of things. At least I know I can count on him to take any bumps we need, but from what he's posted, pretty much his whole arsenal looks crazy sloppy. Basically, the bar for him is to not hurt himself or anyone else. Optimistic, I know.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Nathaniel Ca$ino</strong></span></p><p>

Finisher: Double or Nothing</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: I like what The Gambler brings to the table. He's got talent and experience, both things that can make him a real leader in the locker room. Just two problems. One, he's got a reputation for disastrous relationships, and two, he's awful at hardcore matches, which is a problem for our promotion specifically. He's a pretty good entertainer though, so hopefully that'll keep him afloat.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Warren Technique</strong></span></p><p>

<img alt="6ev7y2y.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6ev7y2y.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Finisher: STF</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Okay, I'll be honest... I think that signing him might have been a mistake. He's got some okay skills, but he's all wrong for ONI. He's boring from his style to his ring gear, he can't do hardcore matches, and he's got a negative attitude. Basically, he's only here because Remmy Skye didn't return my calls. But since he's here now... I guess I'll make the best of it.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:24px;"><strong>Announce Team</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Martin Theocott and Phonse Lockett</strong></span></p><p>

<img alt="sNAvv84.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sNAvv84.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rpzbvfb.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rpzbvfb.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Martin and Phonse are both small-time announcers trying to get into the business, so I king of feel a kindred spirit with them. That's one reason I brought them on. The other is that they were pretty cheap. Martin's the only member of the company not from the region, so I have to pay to fly him in from Detroit before every show. They're got a simple dynamic. Martin's the reasonable play-by-play guy, while Phonse is the mouthy guy on color. Martin calls it down the middle, while Phonse tends to favor heels. You know, classic stuff.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: All right, that's everyone. I've got some writing to do for our first show, so I've gotta end things here. Fingers crossed for something good out there.</em></p>

Hey, I saw your post in the preview thread, so I thought I would check out what you are doing. So far so good, I like your roster, I always love to see writers feature workers that are not used in a ton of other diaries.

Hope you enjoy yourself on here and I will be following along.

The Simmons Center, the day of the first show...

cP0iaP7.png

Makoto impatiently checked her phone, watching the clock. They had less than two hours before the gates were set to open, and Blue Dragon and G Force were still unaccounted for. She knew that G Force's car was in the shop, so she assigned Blue Dragon to pick him up for the show. Neither of them complained abut the arrangement when she made it, so she assumed that it would be fine. But that left the question... where were they?

Still feeling the weight of the promotion's debut on her shoulders, she headed to the guys' locker room to let them know about the situation. She had less time to run through two of the matches, and there was a gigantic question mark hanging over when she would be able to catch up on that. She steeled herself and opened the door...

... And what she saw was definitely not what she had expected.

FscC6f1.png

CC: Thank you, girls. But trust me, the pleasure is all mine.

Charlie was imitating Brendan's old catchphrases from back when he was "The Teen Dream". He even went as far as to do his hair-flips, winks, and cheesy grins. As he strutted around the locker room, he got some big laughs from the rest of the guys. The biggest laughs came from Brendan himself, who clapped loudly and nearly fell out of his chair.

Charlie did a couple more bits, but the Brendan impression was the biggest hit for his audience. Makoto chuckled a little, quietly impressed. She hadn't expected the guy to have that kind of comedic ability. Maybe she could use that...

The wait continued to drag on, with no word from the missing wrestlers. Some of the guys wandered around the grounds to get a better feel for the place. And about fifteen minutes later, Brendan came running back with something in his hands.

cBUeIqV.png

BI: Hey everyone, get over here! You've gotta see this!

Cradled in his arms was an old karaoke machine. After a little bit of tinkering, he managed to get it to work, albeit with some minor audio glitches. Brendan performed a pretty animated rendition of Billie Jean, Nathaniel followed up with some Bon Jovi, and Phonse finished them out by belting out Bye Bye Bye.

A fun time was had by all those present, but the festivities came to an end when the two previously absent wrestlers made their appearance.

HMH6NiA.pngxvFCkwi.png

Not even a second needed to go by before Makoto stepped forward and confronted them. Her cheer from a few moments ago disappeared, instead replaced by the return of her fury at their lateness.

MM: Where have you been? We've only got an hour left before the show! What took you so long?

GF: Hey, I was ready on time. Ask the guy who showed up an hour late to pick me up.

Makoto turned her eyes to Blue Dragon, who shrugged.

BD: I forgot. But we got here on time, so that's the important part, right?

Fire flashed in the young woman's eyes as she was ready to read Blue Dragon the riot act, but an old hand stepped forward and lifted the brim of his hat as he faced the masked rookie.

RpajULz.png

NC: You got a problem, kid? You were supposed to be here on time, we all were. It would be bad enough for you to hold yourself back, but you're messing things up for G Force too since we trusted you to get him here as well. I guess we learned our lesson.

Dragon seems pretty taken aback. In the few meetings since the promotion was put together, Nathaniel has more or less played it cool and hung out in the background. This was the first time that he had stepped up and made himself heard, and he was showing a real presence.

BD: Hey man, it was a mistake...

NC: There's a difference between a mistake and a habit. Make sure this is the former.

Nathaniel tipped his hat and walked away to lean against the wall at the back of the locker room until he was requested for something else. Makoto gave Dragon a glare as if to say "Yeah, I agree with him" before waving him and G Force over.

MM: All right guys, we don't have a lot of time, but I need to go over your matches again.

In the final few minutes, the final preparations were made. Intro music was queued up, outfits were changed, and the audience started to show up. Martin and Phonse went out to the announce table to begin the show. From backstage, Makoto took a deep breath, and exhaled.

It's showtime.

ONI Wrestling: Something To Prove

Show Introduction

rpzbvfb.png

Phonse stands up from the announcer's desk and enters the ring, microphone in hand. With a cheery grin, he starts announcing while spinning around to look at each member of the crowd.

PL: Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome! To ONI! Wrestling!

He pauses for a moment for applause, then continues with his announcement.

PL: Tonight we have 7 wrestlers, all aiming for one thing, and that's the ONI Championship! So here's how tonight's festivities are going to go. The winner of each of tonight's matches will meet in the main event. And the winner of that match will be our first champion. Can you feel the energy tonight?

That last part was ad-libbed, and it got some mild, scattered response. His job done, Phonse returned to the announce desk.

Rating: 28

(Makoto's Notes: Not bad. I didn't plan for Phonse to be any more than a color guy, but he did okay for what it's worth. I don't have the resources to hire anyone to act as a real host or authority figure, so in a pinch, this will have to do.)

MAKOTO MAJIMA VS CHARLIE CORNER

cP0iaP7.png vs. FscC6f1.png

Makoto enters with a Japanese delinquent gimmick, with her dyed hair, a facemask, and a bat on her shoulder. She put her all into it, but the crowd didn't respond much. Charlie came out swaggering and trying to act like Mr. Cool in a completely overbearing way, which was by design. He got a little bit of a reaction out of the crowd in the process.

The match was chaotic, to set the stage for the show to come. Wild moves were thrown out with desperation, and weapons were used with abandon. Charlie used his size to keep bringing Makoto back down when she got the advantage, while she brawled wildly to remain on equal footing. The finish came when Makoto managed to catch Charlie with a shot from her bat, dropping him to his knees and dazing him. She followed up with the Sukeban Slash, a swift kick to the head that left him spread-eagled on the mat for an easy 3-count.

Rating: Makoto 21, Charlie 16, Total 19

(Makoto's Notes: My first real match... I'm gonna be real with you, when I stepped through that curtain in full gimmick, I felt alive. I know that the match wasn't that great, and the crowd wasn't really into it, but no one's a star right out of the gate. I know that this is probably just me being starry-eyed about my debut, but I can't be too hard on this one. We definitely still need to improve, though.)

G FORCE VS NATHANIEL CA$INO

xvFCkwi.png vs. RpajULz.png

G Force runs down to the ring like a rocket, climbing into the ring and doing a moonsault before his opponent was even announced, selling his reckless character and drawing some attention from the crowd. By comparison, Nathaniel calmly walked out, tipping his hat to the crowd before he climbed the ring steps. Less reaction, but he definitely looked cool.

The two of them went at each other full-speed right from the start giving the crowd no time to relax after the last match. Despite his dapper looks, Nathaniel was quite the brawler. G Force was just as wild as he made himself out to be, but he was sloppy and had bad timing, which made his attacks look less impactful. The end came whem Nathaniel threw G Force into a corner before dropping him with a Double or Nothing stunner.

Rating: G Force 15, Nathaniel 30, Overall 19

(Makoto's Notes: The Gambler's already looking like a star, and I'm so glad that I brought him in. G Force showed a lot of weaknesses, though. He needs to learn how to throw a decent-looking punch. Also, watching the match taught me that our referee, Elegence, is doing a pretty terrible job. She's out of position all the time, and her counts have weird timing. I'm quickly learning why she was the only unemployed referee in the region. Also, this last part was my bad, but maybe I should have waited a bit before putting on another crazy fight. The crowd didn't seem to have the energy for this one.)

BLUE DRAGON VS BRENDAN IDOL VS WARREN TECHNIQUE

HMH6NiA.png vs. cBUeIqV.png vs. 6ev7y2y.png

Blue Dragon dramatically entered the ring to no response. He tried to act like a dragon, or whatever his interpretation of that was, but it didn't seem to be catching on. Brendan had a better idea of his character, strutting down the ramp and acting like an arrogant celebrity, basically acting like a fatter, heel version of his old character. Warren just walked out to the ring with no fanfare, either from himself or the fans.

This match had much less emphasis on wild spots and craziness, instead being a pretty straightforward 3-man bout. As the only face in the ring, Dragon took a lot of vicious attacks from both of his opponents. Brendan showboated a lot and got the fans more into the match, but he blew his timing a couple of times. On the other hand, Warren had no charisma at all, and Dragon couldn't play well to the crowd at all. Blue Dragon pulls out a Dragon Driver on Warren for the win to a resounding reaction of near-silence.

Rating: Dragon 16, Brendan 23, Warren 24, Overall 22

(Makoto's Notes: It's a shame that Brendan wasn't at the top of his game, because he looked the best out of anyone in the ring. The guy's obviously a little out of practice, but he looked all right in the ring and played to the crowd really well. The fans didn't care about Blue Dragon or Warren at all though, which is a pretty big problem, especially since I was considering pushing Dragon as a babyface. A quiet finish is never a good sign.)

ONI CHAMPIONSHIP

MAKOTO MAJIMA VS NATHANIEL CA$INO VS BLUE DRAGON

cP0iaP7.png vs. RpajULz.png vs. HMH6NiA.png

The three winners of the earlier matches met in the ring and stared each other down for a few moments to build up tension before going at it. Makoto's brawling, Nathaniel's opportunism, and Dragon's flashiness clashed in the ring, giving a good variety of styles in the match. However, the fans still hadn't warmed up to Dragon, and his moves did nothing to bring them to his side. They even cheered when Nathaniel slapped the taste out of his mouth and pushed him off the turnbuckle.

The end of the match finished with Blue Dragon left on the outside, having been taken out of the match earlier than anticipated by Makoto after he started favoring his shoulder following the push off the turnbuckle, which wasn't in the script. Nathaniel and Makoto traded blows until she tried to go for the bat again, which left an opening for Nathaniel to dodge and reverse it into a Double or Nothing for the pin. He grabbed the championship from Elegance and posed with it as the show ended.

Rating: Makoto 18, Nathaniel 33, Dragon 18, Overall 25

(Makoto's Notes: I can't believe that I was considering having Blue Dragon be our first champion. The guy can't connect to the crowd. Going with Nathaniel was definitely the right move. He's the best in the ring out of any of us, and he has the most distinctive gimmick. I was going back and forth between the two, but Blue Dragon's irresponsibility pushed Nathaniel over the top, and I don't regret my decision at all. On another note, I don't know what happened to Dragon's shoulder, but we'll be keeping an eye on it and seeing how bad it is. He's got a month until our next show to heal, so hopefully it'll be all right. Nathaniel got some nasty looks in the locker room afterward, especially because of his little altercation with Dragon before the show. Looks like I'll have a few things to smooth over...)

Overall Rating: 23

February 2020...

cP0iaP7.png

In the weeks following the first show, Makoto's confidence started to grow. The reviews that they received online were surprisingly positive. Of course "surprisingly positive" in this case meant that they weren't tearing the show apart piece by piece and salting the ground that it had been wrestled upon. The flaws (of which there were many) were highlighted, but the general consensus seemed to be that it was watchable. At at their size, "watchable" was a perfectly acceptable goal to aspire to.

During one of the group training sessions, G Force approached Makoto as both of them were on a break, scrolling through his phone with a grin on his face.

xvFCkwi.png

GF: Hey, did you see the news?

He turned his phone to show her an article on TotalExtremeWrestling.com from one of the local writers. The headline was in big, bold letters.

GSW AND IPW GO TO WAR

MM: Yeah, I know. When are they not?

GF: Nah, I know, but that's not the point. Point is, they're about to start going at each other HARD.

MM: Yeah, and?

GF: And, if they're totally focused on each other, that means that they're not lookin' at us, right?

Makoto seems to have a revelation.

MM: So with them busy fighting, that means that we can sneak in and start stealing some of their fanbase.

GF: You got it, man.

Smirking as she concocted a scheme, Makoto stood up and put a hand on G Force's shoulder

MM: Let's get to work then. I think I got some plans for your next match...

ONI Wrestling: Battle For Respect

G FORCE VS BRENDAN IDOL

xvFCkwi.png vs. cBUeIqV.png

Brendan enters first and does some shtick, acting cocky and showboating before G Force storms the ring, forcing him to get ready to fight. The two of them start pulling everything out of their bags of tricks quickly. G Force is looking a lot smoother than he did in his first match, actually making his moves look good and not like he's about to concuss himself.

The big moment of the match comes when Brendan does a monkey flip that sends G Force out of the ring, leaving him barely able to escape a 10 count. However, Brendan celebrates prematurely, letting G Force sneak attacking him from behind and setting him up for the Vomit Comet, a spinning moonsault.

Rating: G Force 27, Brendan 31, Overall 31

(Makoto's Notes: Man, talk about an improvement. G Force didn't look like a backyarder tonight, and his spots looked pretty sick when he hit them. He's looking like a real wrestler now. As for Brendan, he's still good as usual. I really have to give him some wins at some point.)

INTRODUCING CHIP MARTIN

VnZGtr2.png

After being absent last week, Chip Martin makes his way to the ring with a microphone and introduces himself to the crowd, proclaiming his father's legacy and how he's going to continue it in his own image. It's not a big hit, but the crowd is paying attention, at the least.

Rating: 25

(Makoto's Notes: It was an okay promo. I hope he can back it up with some talent, though. His match is up next, so I guess I'm about to see.)

CHIP MARTIN VS WARREN TECHNIQUE

VnZGtr2.png vs. 6ev7y2y.png

With Chip already in the ring, the match begins with Warren making his uninspiring entrance. Warren takes advantage early, using his grappling to keep Chip locked down whenever he can, and Chip using his babyface fire to break out. Pretty traditional heel vs. face work that should work to both men's strengths. However, Chip was lagging behind, and his selling of some of Warren's moves was looking pretty weird, with one early fall from a haymaker making him look particularly ridiculous.

Near the end, Chip manages to wriggle out of an STF attempt from Warren and make it to the rope. Warren stands up to argue with the ref, and when he finally relents and turns around, he walks right into a Superkick for the 3.

Rating: Chip 15, Warren 32, Overall 24

(Makoto's Notes: Chip's getting pretty good at playing his gimmick already, but he really struggled in the ring tonight. After hearing the big talk about his training and family tradition, I was expecting a lot more. Warren continues to be solid, but he also can't get the audience to care about him. I also had to promise to make him look strong in the match in order for him to accept losing. He's a solid hand, don't get me wrong, but he hasn't even started to work on his weaknesses. And with the others starting to catch up, he might run out of time to do that.)

BLUE DRAGON VS CHARLIE CORNER

HMH6NiA.png vs. FscC6f1.png

Blue Dragon enters the ring, still favoring his shoulder from last month. The crowd shows him no sympathy, and he gets booed when he does his pre-match pose. Charlie did get some laughs from the crowd with his gimmick. Even though he was using a lot of heel shtick in the match, the crowd treated him more like the face than Dragon.

The match was deliberately short to keep Dragon from having to work too much, but that didn't keep his diminished ability from going on display. He beat Charlie with a surprise roll-up, finishing six minutes of unimpressive action.

Rating: Dragon 17, Charlie 16, Overall 18

(Makoto's Notes: And things were going so well... This match was a horrible mistake, and I should have left Blue Dragon on the shelf while he recovered. He was bad, Charlie was bad, and we basically wasted six minutes. Oh, and the crowd still hates Dragon. I should've put together another three-man instead while Dragon healed. And Charlie needs to step it up fast before he gets left in the dust.)

GIVE ME A REMATCH!

HMH6NiA.png

Following his victory, Dragon demands a rematch with The Gambler because he didn't get pinned during last week's championship match. The crowd doesn't really care what he's saying one way or the other.

Rating: 19

(Makoto's Notes: Putting so much stock into Blue Dragon this soon was a big mistake. I already had him penciled in for a title match against Nathaniel, so I'll still go through with that next month. After that, though? He's taking a trip down the card until he proves himself worthy of a push.

ONI CHAMPIONSHIP

MAKOTO MAJIMA VS NATHANIEL CA$INO

cP0iaP7.png vs. RpajULz.png

In a rematch for the ONI Championship, Makoto faces off with Nathaniel in a battle of punk vs. class. It's a back-and-forth affair with each of them gaining and losing control for roughly even amounts of time. Makoto's viciousness will overwhelm Nathaniel, then The Gambler will pull a well-timed gambit to gain the upper hand, and vice versa. The fans manage to focus their interest on the action in the ring, rather than being bored or relentlessly hating one of the competitors.

It ends with a fast sequence of knees from Makoto, getting Nathaniel to double over in pain. She backs up and rushes him with a flying knee, only for him to dodge and send her into the turnbuckle. While she's dazed from the impact, he hits her with a Double or Nothing to retain.

Rating: Makoto 24, Nathaniel 31, Overall 31

(Makoto's Notes: Oh, now this match felt goooooood. Me and Nathaniel worked super-well together, and I think that we really brought out the best in each other. I don't think that we botched anything, and if anything, I think that our main issue is that we need more polish. I can't complain that much about this one.)

Overall Rating: 30

(Makoto's Notes: Definitely a big improvement over our first show. Nathaniel and Brendan are definitely establishing themselves as standouts, and they've got solid spots on the roster for the near future. On the other end, Charlie and Dragon are struggling to keep up and once I get some more options for our roster, I might have to let one or both of them go. The big surprise, though, is G Force. I expected him to struggle harder than anyone and basically be nothing more than a spot monkey, but he's picked up on things way quicker than I expected. If he stays strong, he might be lookig at a title match down the line.

There may be a gap in my updates coming up. I evacuated for the hurricane, and I don't know where I'm going next or how available the internet will be in the upcoming days, so I might not be able to update this for a bit. However, I will try to get back to this as soon as it's possible.

Early March, 2020...

It was the day of yet another training session for the roster of ONI Wrestling. They rented out a gym to run their drills and refine their moves for a few hours. They didn't have their own training facility, so this was really the best that they could do at the moment. It was around lunchtime, when water bottles and takeout food were being passed around, that Makoto stood up and walked to the front of the room to address everyone

cP0iaP7.png

MM: All right team, big news today. Last week, I was watching some indie wrestling out of Mexico, and it gave me an idea. Anyone want to guess what it is?

HMH6NiA.png

BD: New costumes?

6ev7y2y.png

WT: Workrate?

cBUeIqV.png

BD: Tradition?

Makoto shook her head at all of their suggestions.

MM: Nope. New talent.

She opened the doors of the gym, where two new figures were waiting. Wearing a wry smile, Makoto extended an arm and introduced the new additions.

MM: Ladies and gentlemen, meet Ursula Saez and Hugo Garrido.

The first to step into the gym was a powerfully built woman, more muscular than most of the existing roster. She stretched her arms as she looked around at her new coworkers, wearing a mix of curiosity and satisfaction.

zqkRWEA.png

US: It's not OLLIE, but I think I can make this work.

Entering second was a massive man, as there was simply no other way to describe him. The tracksuit he wore did nothing to disguise the fact that he simply dwarfed the rest of the locker room, with even Charlie in awe of his presence. Despite his intimidating first impression, he wore a grin throughout his introduction.

6iX5Snc.png

HG: It's been too long! It's about time I get back in the ring for real!

Makoto walked around the room, gauging the reactions. Some seemed excited for new opportunities, while other seemed worried about being outshone by the new arrivals. Either way, Makoto had one message.

MM: I saw Hugo and Ursula on that indie show I mentioned, and they impressed me, so I gave them some offers. Now they're on our roster, and I'm hoping that with them kicking us into gear, we can start soaring up the ranks. And eventually, we'll leave IPW and GSW in the dust, you feel me?

Makoto may not have been one of wrestling's great orators, but most wrestlers found it easy to get pumped when presented with the idea of success. With new opportunities before them, the group, now two members larger, got back to training.

The Simmons Center, hours before ONI Wrestling, Against All Odds...

In just a short time, a pivotal moment will come for ONI Wrestling. Their first show with non-local talent will show whether paying the extra money to cover travel costs will pay off in terms of better match quality and higher fan approval. Everyone in the back is getting hyped in their own way, focusing on making sure that the upcoming show is ONI's best to date.

However, there was one problem backstage, one person who was not taking too kindly to the new backstage atmosphere.

6iX5Snc.png

HG: Is this for real? I thought that I was signing on to compete on the big stage, not some community center! I could have stayed on the indies for that!

Hugo Garrido was none too happy from the moment that he stepped into The Simmons Center that afternoon. It seemed that he had overestimated the reach that ONI Wrestling had, although why he expected an organization run by a 19-year-old rookie to have the means to run large stadium shows was a mystery of its own.

For their part, the rest of the locker room did not take kindly to Hugo's complaining, and the mood in the room deflated with each comment.

cBUeIqV.png

BI: Hey man, we've only had two shows. These things gotta take time. Even USPW didn't start on top.

HG: I don't think USPW sunk this low, though! What's next? A bingo hall?

A high school gym?

Hugo's belligerence only grew louder when he was challenged, dampening the strong vibes that the roster had been building up for the event. But even though Brendan wasn't able to calm Hugo down, another figure took a second crack at it.

RpajULz.png

Approaching from the side, Nathaniel cocked his head to glance at the huge man currently throwing a tantrum worthy of a child. He shook his head gently as he eyed him.

NC: Hugo, right? Don't think we've met. Name's Nathaniel Ca$ino, ONI Champion.

The calm confidence gave Hugo pause. Who was this guy to come swaggering over like that.

Okay, you're the champion. Why do I care?

NC: Because you're coming in here with disrespect, and I don't appreciate that. A week ago, you didn't have a job, and because Makoto liked what she saw of you for whatever reason, she reached out and gave you an opportunity. And opportunity that, from what I've seen so far, you don't deserve.

Hugo sputters in response.

HG: Hey! What gives you the right-

Nathaniel cuts him off without a second thought.

NC: We didn't come here tonight for someone to trash our company in our own locker room. You think we're too small-time? Not enough glamour for you? Keep it to yourself. But if whining really means that much to you, then you don't have to stay here and get paid. Your choice.

Nathaniel shrugs and walks off, back to hang out in his corner of the locker room while he waited for showtime. Hugo's mouth hung open for a moment, and he raised a finger to start a rebuttal, but wisely thought otherwise. He remained silent, and the displeased looks of the locker room eventually dissipated.

The Gambler's brand of locker room justice strikes again.

ONI Wrestling: Against All Odds

CHIP MARTIN VS BRENDAN IDOL

VnZGtr2.png vs. cBUeIqV.png

Brendan enters the ring with his usual pomp and flamboyance, but once Chip makes his way down the ramp, his expression noticeably darkens. While Chip puts up a good fight, Brendan is more aggressive than usual, often foregoing his usual flash and crowd appeals in favor of taking more opportunities to beat Chip down before he can get back up. It's a new side of him that the crowd hasn't seen before in ONI, but the fans seem pretty interested in what's going on in the ring.

Despite how hard Chip tries to fight back, the aggression of Brendan Idol is too much to overcome, and he takes an Idolizer in the middle of the ring, and with that, the pin.

Rating: Chip 24, Brendan 30, Overall 29

(Makoto's Notes: Now this is what I wanted from Chip last month. Yeah, I know that he spent most of the match getting smacked around, but he looked a lot better this time. Plus, this is the launch of our first actual feud, since I'm pretty sure that Dragon vs. The Gambler is going to have to get scrapped unless a miracle happens.)

I am Better!

Following his defeat of Chip, Brendan grabs the microphone and runs down his opponent, saying that he's only a flash in the pan that no one will remember, while Brendan Idol is a name that will be etched in the minds of wrestling fans everywhere.

Rating: 28

(Makoto's Notes: Not bad, Brendan! Not bad at all! I might have to give this guy more mic time. And to think I was worried signing him would be a bad move.

URSULA SAEZ VS CHARLIE CORNER

zqkRWEA.png vs. FscC6f1.png

Ursula makes her debut entrance, with Phonse proudly proclaiming her "THE MAYAAAAAAAAAN... MAULERRRRRRRRRRR!" as she makes her way to the ring. The fans don't seem too invested though, and they don't respond too much to her gimmick or entrance.

She starts to get them on her side during the match itself, however. She brings the fight to a larger and unfortunately very clumsy Charlie, tanking his biggest hits and smacking him back just as hard. It ends with an image that would likely find itself on at least one forum at some point, as Ursula lifted Charlie into the air without much difficulty and smashed him into the ground with her Leaping Side Suplex.

Rating: Ursula 31, Charlie 15, Overall 26

(Makoto's Notes: Charlie, Charlie, Charlie! I keep giving him chances, but he hasn't looked good once so far. Once our talent pool opens up a little more, he might find himself on the short list, especially if Hugo turns out to be a solid giant heel for us. As for Ursula, her debut was pretty solid, especially considering a weak opponent. I wish that the crowd was more into her gimmick, though. Might need to tell Phonse to tone it down next time)

BLUE DRAGON VS HUGO GARRIDO

HMH6NiA.png vs. 6iX5Snc.png

Blue Dragon enters the ring to his usual barrage of boos, while they actually seem pretty stunned when Hugo makes his first appearance, screaming and charging at the ring like the enginm of destruction that he's supposed to be.

Unfortunately, that's where the positive comments about the match end. It was supposed to be a squash in Hugo's favor, but vitrually every spot was blown, the crowd had no sympathy for Dragon getting beat down, and they even tuned out during the big finish where Hugo planted him with a pendulum powerslam. The fans were demanding that they leave the ring halfway through, and by the end, it was practically being screamed at them. Some refreshments were thrown.

Rating: Dragon 15, Hugo 15, Overall 5PZhrqa.png

Makoto's Notes: Wow... I have never felt more embarrassed in my entire life. These losers completely stunk up the ring, and it turns out that Dragon can't even take a beating right on top of everything else! I'm pretty sure that we lost a good chunk of our audience during this match, with the main event still to go. Seriously, Brendan and Chip opened the show strong, and THIS is what they get for it? I am livid. Absolutely livid. Dragon and Hugo are gonna be getting some words tonight, believe me.)

G FORCE VS NATHANIEL CA$INO

xvFCkwi.png vs. RpajULz.png

Miraculously, the crowd hadn't depleted itself following the debacle that was Dragon vs. Hugo, and the ones that remained were treated to two of the company's more talented workers. G Force ran down to the ring at top speed as usual, while Nathaniel kept his cool stride. The staredown of intensity vs. chillness marked the beginning of the brawl for the championship.

For a surprising amount of the match, G Force actually had the upper hand, as Nathaniel had yet to fight an opponent like him. Always moving and hitting hard, Force managed to score a good few near falls. However, the edge came from The Gambler's experience and intelligence, using G Force's momentum against him at key moments, never allowing him to land a clean finishing blow. And the end was an exciting display, where a failed Vomit Comet attempt left G Force struggling to get back to his feet, getting up only to be immediately grabbed and hit with a Double or Nothing, ensuring that the title remained around The Gambler's waist.

Rating: Nathaniel 34, G Force 21, Overall 32

(Makoto's Notes. Thank you. Seriously, thank you for letting this show end on a good note after the last couple of jokers. The only thing I can complain about if G Force backsliding a little, since he looked pretty sloppy at times. But in general, this match was good! At this point, I honestly think that Nathaniel might not actually be capable of having a bad match. Man it's gonna be hard to find a new champion, since no one else has been this consistently great aside from Brendan, and I'm not sure how handing a championship from one heel to another would go over.)

Overall Rating: 29

(Makoto's Notes: Honestly, this show could have been a lot better were it not for one match in particular. However, I've got an idea for how I'm going to deal with that. Just you wait...)

<p><strong>The day after Against All Odds, Jefferson Steelflex Gym...</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="cP0iaP7.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cP0iaP7.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto relaxed off to the side of the workout room at ONI's regular gym. She had two chairs set up across from each other. They didn't have an office, so this was the closest thing that she could do at the moment short of using her own apartment, and there was absolutely no way that she was going to do that. She tapped her heel against the chair as she waited patiently for her visitor to arrive.</p><p> </p><p>

After some time had passed, her expected guest made his way over through the crowd of people working out. After all, it was impossible to miss him with that mask.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="HMH6NiA.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HMH6NiA.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>BD: Hey boss, you wanted to see me.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: Yes, actually. We have something to talk about.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto leaned back in her chair and cast a judging gaze at the masked man.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Your match last night was one of the worst that I've ever seen.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Dragon's eyes go wide, and he immediately gets defensive.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>BD: Okay, I get it, it was bad, but we've had worse.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: No, we really haven't. Trust me. And if you don't trust me, trust the crowd that was booing you guys.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

BD: Hey, don't put all the blame on me. It was Hugo's first match, and that fat slob was a total disaster.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto shook her head, her annoyance growing.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: I've seen Hugo do better. He did better last month. But I've never seen a good match out of you since you signed with us.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Dragon goes from defensive to angry as he starts to put the pieces together.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>BD But we've had three shows! You can't judge anything off of just three shows!</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: Three shows of you putting forth mediocre performances, being outshined by everyone, and being booed relentlessly even though you were supposed to be the face.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Everything he said got refuted as soon as Makoto got a chance to speak, and he clenched the arm of his chair, visibly agitated even through his mask.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>BD: So... so what?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: So, I'm releasing you.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Shock and fury all passed across Dragon's face as he silently stared back at Makoto, who refused to emote in response.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>BD: You can't just fire me!</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: I can, and I just have.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Blue Dragon stood up and glowered at Makoto. He wanted to yell and scream, but they were in the middle of a busy gym teeming with patrons, and doing so would only lead to him getting escorted out by security. So instead, he stormed off in a huff. As he walked away, out of the gym and out of ONI, Makoto casually checked her phone for news of local talent.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Glad we had this chat.</em></p>

<p><strong>Beginning of March 2020, Beachside Burger Shack...</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="cP0iaP7.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cP0iaP7.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto had yet another important meeting to attend to but this time the tone was much different. Rather than in the middle of a crowded gym, this time she would be chatting near the beach over a burger and fries, complete with a refreshing ocean breeze. She didn't plan on things being as confrontational as they turned out to be with Blue Dragon. After all, this meeting was about the opposite of a firing.</p><p> </p><p>

When her partner arrived, she casually waved them over, looking very chill in her seat.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Hey. Violet Black, am I right?</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pvWqlrr.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pvWqlrr.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>VB: Yep. So you're Makoto Majima?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: Yep. And you know why I'm here, right?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

VB: The contract?</em></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto simply nodded. She had been scouting the local scene, and she saw that Violet had just graduated from one of the local wrestling schools. No match history, no fanfare, just a new worker on the scene. And Makoto wanted to be the first to make a move.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>VB: Can I ask why, though?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: Why?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

VB: Yeah. I don't come from a wrestling family, I haven't had any matches, and I haven't even hit the indies yet. Why do you already want me signed?</em></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto leaned back and chewed on a french fry, much like a farmer might chew on a piece of straw as he examined his crops.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Because you kind of remind me of me, and what ONI is about. I scrounged up money fresh out of training, managed to get enough to start this company, and now I legit have a chance to do something with this. I get the same kind of vibe from you, and I want you to be a part of this. Roll with us, kick-start your career, and eventually you're gonna start turning some heads.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Violet thought the oddly wordy offer over, then gave a smile.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>VB: What the heck? Not like anything else is going on right now.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Satisfied, Makoto raised her soda.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: All right, a deal it is. Now let's talk about your debut...</em></p>

<p><strong>Backstage, prior to ONI Wrestling: Refuse to Lose...</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Something unseemly has been stirring in the ONI locker room, and it has been flying under the radar for a while, almost unnoticed. However, it was only a matter of time until it got around to the wrong person, and the calm would fall to pieces.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="VnZGtr2.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VnZGtr2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>CM: Hey Nathaniel, can I talk to you about something? It's about G Force.</em></p><p> </p><p>

He whispered something in the veteran's ear, and it managed to crack The Gambler's air of coolness.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="RpajULz.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RpajULz.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>NC: He said WHAT?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

CM: Hey man, that's just what I heard. I didn't believe any of it, and I wanted to get to you to hear the truth.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

NC: ... You're a good kid, Chip.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Catching sight of G Force, Nathaniel stomped across the locker room to him, where he was gossiping with Brendan and Ursula.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xvFCkwi.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xvFCkwi.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>GF: I tell you, man, that's what I heard! The dude's a total...</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

NC: G Force.</em></p><p> </p><p>

The backyarder goes quiet as he looks up and sees who is in his presence. Sensing what is about to come, Brendan and Ursula both step back, expecting things to get very messy.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>GF: Oh hey man. What's up?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

NC: Would you care to repeat any of the stories you've been hearing? I'd love to hear them.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

GF: Stories? Nah man, I ain't heard nothing.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Nathaniel straightened his hat, peeking under it to glare at G Force.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>NC: Well I heard something. Now are you gonna talk, or am I gonna have to do something about it?</em></p><p> </p><p>

G Force laughed in his face.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>GF: What are you gonna do to me? Besides, it's not just me talking. Once a story gets around...</em></p><p> </p><p>

Nathaniel lunges at the cocky youngster, with the timely intervention of Ursula keeping him from leaving a knuckle-shaped bruise on his face. G Force attempted to do the same, but was grabbed by Brendan. Charlie and Hugo came over as backup while Chip ran to find Makoto to tell her what was going on. And when she arrived, she was not pleased.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="cP0iaP7.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cP0iaP7.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: G Force! Nathaniel! Get over here now and tell me what you did!</em></p><p> </p><p>

Nathaniel was the faster of the two, moving straight to Makoto's side with the power of his anger.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>NC: Oh, you wanna know what he did? Get a load of this.</em></p><p> </p><p>

He whispered the gossip that he heard from Chip in Makoto's ear, and her gaze turned venomous.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: G Force... thought you were better than that. That's some real backyard #### right there. The kind I thought you left back where it belonged.</em></p><p> </p><p>

G Force took a step back and raised his hands defensively. An angry Makoto was not a common sight, and he feared the consequences.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>GF: Look man, I was just playing, okay? Can't ya take a joke?</em></p><p> </p><p>

Nathaniel was about to move, but Makoto raised an arm to block his path and refocused her icy gaze on G Force.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: You get one warning. One. Warning. I see you trying to pull anything like this again, we're gonna have some problems. Do you understand?</em></p><p> </p><p>

G Force nods quickly.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>GF: Right. Sorry ma'am.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

MM: Okay, good. Glad that we...</em></p><p> </p><p>

Makoto was interrupted by her own retching as an awful smell penetrated the locker room. The entire roster started coughing and covering their mouths as the stink wafted over all of them. Makoto searched around, looking for the source of the smell, until she found the only person who had a hint of a smile amidst the chaos.</p><p> </p><p>

Violet Black, her newest hire.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: Violet, do you *cough cough* know anything about this?</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pvWqlrr.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pvWqlrr.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>VB: *cough cough* Gotcha!</em></p><p> </p><p>

She leaned over and pulled a small prank device out from under the bench. She tossed it in the trash and looked out at the rest of the locker room, noticing a field of angry faces, and absolutely none who were happy with her joke, leading her to echo a recently stated stance.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>VB: Hey guys. It was just a joke, right?</em></p><p> </p><p>

No support. Instead, she had an irritated Makoto standing in front of her, arms crossed with a stern voice.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: It's your first day, and that's the only reason I'm being lenient. But listen to me.</em></p><p> </p><p>

She pointed to the still-stinking trash can.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>MM: That junk? Never again, all right?</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

VB: Yes ma'am. Sorry ma'am.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Violet looked disappointed, and returned to her bags. Makoto looked around and, with no further disturbances, set out to advise the ring crew in the moments leading up to the show.</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:24px;">ONI Wrestling: Refuse to Lose</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>BRENDAN IDOL VS G FORCE</strong></p><p>

<img alt="cBUeIqV.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cBUeIqV.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs. <img alt="xvFCkwi.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xvFCkwi.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

G Force looks to regain some momentum after his failed attempt to win the ONI Championship after last month's show. Brendan, on the other hand, look much less serious, cheekily entering the arena with a shirt that says "I Beat Chip Martin". As the match begins, it's clear that both men are back to their classic form. G Force is pulling out his risky tricks to try to get an advantage, while Brendan is hitting hard and showing off while he does it.</p><p> </p><p>

Unfortunately for G Force, he winds up moving a bit too fast, and every bounce off the ropes or jump onto the turnbuckle opened an opportunity for Brandan to strike. About halfway through the match, Brendan Superplexed G Force, and the backyarder was noticeably slow to get up, leading to them quickly skipping to the end of the match, where G Force runs straight into an Idolizer neckbreaker.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rating: Brendan 30, G Force 31, Overall 31</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>(Makoto's Notes: From contending for the title to opening the show. Maybe that'll give G Force some time to think about what he's done. I can't deny that he's getting a lot better, though. Once he's out of the doghouse, I might give him another shot. And as for Brendan... man, he's been so good, but that was a bad fall that G Force had off of that superplex. Hopefully it's not as bad as it looked.)</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>WARREN'S DECLARATION</strong></p><p>

<img alt="6ev7y2y.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6ev7y2y.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

Warren takes to the ring and calls G Force an embarrassment to wrestling, citing his lack of proper training and dangerous in-ring style. He declares that he will show G Force how a true wrestler is supposed to be by using his submission skill to dismantle his next opponent.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rating: 14</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>(Makoto's Notes: I didn't give Warren a script. I should have given Warren a script.)</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>VIOLET BLACK VS WARREN TECHNIQUE</strong></p><p>

<img alt="pvWqlrr.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pvWqlrr.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs. <img alt="6ev7y2y.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6ev7y2y.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Dark, mysterious music accompanies Violet Black to the ring, and the crowd seems quite taken with her gothic look and gimmick. Then the match starts, and she shows her complete lack of experience in the ring. She seems confused between spots, and blows her timing repeatedly during many of Warren's segments, making them look weak as well. The crowd voicing their continual hate for Warren Technique and all things associated with him does not help.</p><p> </p><p>

Despite looking bad throughout the entire match, Violet wins with a Diving Stomp, which thanks to Warren's selling, actually does look quite brutal.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rating: Violet 4, Warren 30, Overall 22</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>(Makoto's Notes: Wow... I knew that Violet was green, but she didn't even look trained half the time out there. I really want to chalk this up to nerves on her part, but that was an amateur performance, and I expect a lot better from her. As for Warren... what can I say about Warren? He's solid, but the crowd hates him and he complains when I book him to lose. What am I supposed to say?)</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>CHIP MARTIN VS CHARLIE CORNER</strong></p><p>

<img alt="VnZGtr2.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/VnZGtr2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs. <img alt="FscC6f1.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/FscC6f1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Despite losing last week, Chip returned fiery as ever to take on the huge Charlie Corner. Charlie's size helped him control the match and keep Chip down, but Chip's resilience kept him from staying down, and he rallied every time he was put on his back.</p><p> </p><p>

The match ended with a fun spot where Chip Superkicked Charlie in the gut to make him double over, then followed it up with a second Superkick to the face. Double Superkick for the pin!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rating: Chip 22, Charlie 17, Overall 21</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>(Makoto's Notes: Charlie has had 4 months to improve, and he hasn't. At all. I'm speechless. I feel bad not saying much, because Chip did fine, but... Charlie... man...)</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>MAKOTO MAJIMA VS HUGO GARRIDO</strong></p><p>

<img alt="cP0iaP7.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cP0iaP7.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> vs. <img alt="6iX5Snc.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/6iX5Snc.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

After a week off, Makoto returned in full delinquent gear, looking for a fight, and she found one in Hugo Garrido. The two of them showed no mercy at any point, rushing each other at every opportunity as though any gap in their attack would lead to a brutal retaliation from their opponent. And to be fair, that is exactly what happened almost every time.</p><p> </p><p>

The match burned bright, but it also burned out fast, as in a ring scattered with assorted weapons, Makoto hit a Sukeban Slash across Hugo's face, sending the giant falling onto a set of cookie sheets and finishing the match.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rating: Makoto 26, Hugo 28, Overall 27</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>(Makoto's Notes: Man, it felt good to be back in the ring! I wasn't sure about Hugo at first, but he's got some good matches in him. He doesn't have much of a gas tank, but when it comes to squashes or quick, brutal brawls, he can get the job done. Guy's willing to take some sick bumps, too.)</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>ONI CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

URSULA SAEZ VS NATHANIEL CA$INO</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The proud champion, The Gambler, enters the ring with his usual swagger, awaiting the next opponent to attempt to take his title. He has always been successful so far, so he's feeling confident. However, his latest chance comes in the form of the powerful Ursula Saez, still a largely unknown element in ONI, but a very dangerous one nonetheless.</p><p> </p><p>

For the first time, The Gambler actually seems threatened. While the match is quite even throughout, he is unable to gain a significant upper hand at any point, and is thrown around by Ursula quite a bit.We finally see fear from the perpetually cool champion, and he resorts to a ref bump and a cheap shot from one of the cookie sheets from last match in order to get ahead, finishing with a quick roll-up before Ursula can fully get her senses back, and scampering out of the ring rather than basking in his own victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Watching him run away, Ursula knows what happened. The Gambler is scared.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rating: Ursula 29, Nathaniel 41, Overall 33</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>(Makoto's Notes: That match was excellent. I've never seen Nathaniel look this good in the ring, and Ursula was an awesome challenger. The two of them work together so smoothly, and I honestly can't see a better contender for the title than Ursula right now. I probably have to hold off on the eventual match for at least one more show, but when it happens, it's going to be epic.)</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Overall Rating: 31</strong></p>

<p>I apologize again for not making any updates, but after a lot of thinking, I think that I'm going to be ending this Dynasty, at least in terms of being written. I feel like I tried to bite off more than I could chew while still being extremely new to the game, and I feel like the style that I tried to write it in didn't work very well for me. Reading back, it all came off as really awkward, and I think that I needed to think it through more before committing.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm not ruling out coming back to writing dynasties later, but for now, I think that I'm going to give myself some more practice with the game and come up with a better method of work before I try it again.</p>
