Sadly I have to put this diary on pause. Earlier today I spilled some water on my laptop and I quickly powered it off and dried it, but the keyboard appears to be malfunctioning. My tablet is not large enough to run TEW. I am hoping this is a temporary pause and that I can get back to this soon. But, just in case this diary may have to stay paused until I can get a replacement laptop. 🙃 my apologies. I hope I can return to this down the line.

Update:

After letting the computer dry out over night, all appears to be good!! Later today I will post Sat Night (a day late). There will not be a Nitro preview due to this, but Nitro should be good to go tomorrow. Thanks so much everyone for the love. I am so happy that this was temporary!!!

Tony, Mike & Larry welcome us to the show and tell us that tonight we will see the return to WCW of Jerry Lynn, who used to be known as Mr. JL, we will see the WCW World Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers in action against The Faces of Fear in a non title match as well as Kevin Nash in action in our featured contest. But, we kick things off with Mean Gene Okerlund who is in the ring right now.

Bret says that he is here tonight in El Paso after being in Canada to promote WCW Monday Nitro on TSN last week and while in Canada he saw that there was a little challenge thrown his way last week by the Macho Man Randy Savage. Apparently Savage cannot stand that he was made to look average at Souled Out and Savage wants another piece of the Excellence of Execution. Well, the Hitman is not hard to find and he accepts any challenge. So, the answer is simple….yes. Bret says that they can go again in twenty days at SuperBrawl from the historic Cow Palace in San Francisco. But, Bret is also here for something else (and he eyes the sky and finds Sting and points directly to him). Bret says that weeks ago the Hitman made a challenge to you Stinger, a challenge for the 15th Anniversary of Starrcade in Atlanta in December. Now Sting and the Hitman have fought side by side, but the challenge has yet to be answered. So, answer it now….Sting, do you accept?

Sting glares down toward Bret with no emotion on his face. Bret points up at him and then Sting points his bat toward Bret’s direction and the champion slowly nods. Bret celebrates as two big matches are made. Bret Hart will meet the Macho Man Randy Savage again at SuperBrawl and ten months from now, from Atlanta’s Georgia Dome at the 15th Anniversary of Starrcade, Bret Hart will face Sting in a battle of icons. Gene tells us to not go anywhere, WCW Monday Nitro is hot, we’re making history and we will be back LIVE on TNT.

THE STEINERS VS THE FACES OF FEAR

A very hard hitting match which goes back and forth but with Scott holding in trouble and fighting to get back to his corner LoManaco and Hughes come walking down to the ring.

They distract Rick by taunting him and after he hops off the apron to argue with them Scott breaks free and dives for a tag….that isn’t there. He gets to his feet yelling for Rick and when he turns around he catches a huge boot to the face from the Barbarian and gets pinned.

Following the match the brothers get into a shoving contest with Scott furious at Rick being distracted and not seeing that it cost his brother.

Ted DiBiase, who has not been seen in over a month, comes running out and gets into the ring and separates Rick and Scott who are pushing and shoving each other.

Gene Okerlund comes down to ask DiBiase where he has been. Ted says that he had some business dealings, but he is back to ensure that Rick and Scott stay on the same page and that the greatest tag team in the world stays that way. Ted gets Rick and Scott to tentatively shake hands and they walk away with tension still in the air, but fences apparently mended.

We go backstage to the parking lot and see Curt Hennig chasing after Rick Rude. The announcers tell us that WCW is giving Hennig a shot to compete tonight on Nitro to earn a shot to stick around WCW now that he is out of the nWo. Curt asks Rude where he is going and Rick says that at Souled Out, Curt blew it. Tonight, Curt is on his own. Rick walks out of the building while Hennig looks shocked.

Curt Hennig is in action, alone, next.

Mongo manhandles Hennig in the early going, acting very cocky but it seems to light a fire in the veteran. Hennig flips a switch and begins putting on a clinic like he’s ten years younger, even ending the match with a….perfect….Hennigplex..

A solid match with great wrestling action. Lynn’s debut is clearly all about him and what he can do in the ring. He shows off some of his skills before ending the match with cradle piledriver for the win.

As hour number two is nearing Tony, Mike & Larry hype the two big matches for Super Brawl; the World Title match between Sting & Scott Hall as well as Bret Hart vs Randy Savage. They begin to wonder if Kevin Nash will accept Lex Lu…..Tony tells us we have to go back to the locker room right now.

A camera runs into a locker room as chaos reigns supreme. Two men are face down and we see that they are The Public Enemy. Rocco Rock is near a mirror that clearly has been shattered by his face. Johnny Grunge is clutching his throat. The announcers throw us to commercial as help begins arriving and Larry says he is going to go help.

Hour number two kicks off as Bobby joins Tony and Mike and we see doctors and medical staff are attending to Rocco Rock & Johnny Grunge. Larry arrives and helps everyone load the two onto stretchers. The cameras follow the Public Enemy as they are taken to awaiting ambulances and drive off.

We go to the announce desk where a disgusted Tony, Mike & Bobby are discussing what we just saw as hour number two kicks off. Bobby goes off on Nash and this new nWo - the so called “Wolfpac” and says someone has to stop them because first it was Luger, then Ultimo Dragon and now two men? All sneak attacks? Someone has to stop this resurgent nWo and they have to do it now!

With the rest of the Nest watching from the audience Benoit and Page put on a clinic both in terms of tag team wrestling and most important to them, sheer brutality. They do whatever they want to Raven’s flunkies and Page eventually hits the Diamond Cutter on Riggs but then tage Benoit who flies off the top with a diving headbutt for the pinfall.

Wright starts off by dancing but the crowd isn’t into him. He then turns on a mean streak and goes for Garza, working him over for several minute before hitting a bridged German Suplex for the win.

Before Jericho can respond, the Lionheart is blindsided by Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Guerrero who is on Jericho and beating down Chris. Chavo is stunned and screams “what are you doing?” and pulls his uncle off of Jericho as officials rush in to help. Eddie runs away laughing like a thief in the night saying “karma”.[/i]

The nWo come out as the Nitro girls scamper off. Syxxx and Konnan make suggestive motions to the Nitro girls as they rush away. Nash leads his squad down to the ring and enter the ring. Scott Hall does his survey and says “hi Stinger” to Sting who is staring down at the nWo. Nash grabs the mic and says to the three yokels in that announce booth over there...newsflash, we weren’t here when the Public Enemy got beat down. Now, Flexy Lexy wants to jump on Big Sexy? Well...maybe. Nash says that if Lex wants some after Lex sees what Kevin does next because the nWo is about opportunity and someone in WCW is going to get opportunity to main event Nitro...when we come back.

Nitro returns to the nWo posing and playing to the audience. Nash says the person they will give opportunity to is a veteran, a legend, a man that deserves no introduction….Gentleman Chris Adams.

Everyone laughs as Adams comes out to begin the match.

KEVIN NASH W/nWO VS CHRIS ADAMS

Nash couldn’t possibly be taking his match any lighter but Adams is here to fight and he lays into Nash with a flurry of kicks to his leg which drops Nash to his knee. Adams bounds off the ropes with a running knee and Nash is down. The announcers are ecstatic! Konnan gets onto the apron and Adams superkicks him off. Syxxx gets up and he gets the same treatment. But this has bought Nash time and the angry giant stands. When Adams turns around he eats a boot to the face. From there Nash punishes Adams, hitting not one but two Jackknife powerbombs and pins him with a foot on his chest.

Sting has made his way down through the crowd. The entire nWo challenges Sting to get in and the champion does so and begins to fight off the attack but the numbers game is too great and Hall wallops Sting in the back with his own bat.

This brings out Luger & Bret Hart to help but they too are swamped and soon WCW is down. Bret Hart, Lex Luger & World Champion Sting are all painted with a new red nWo spray paint and the Wolfpac owns the night as Monday Nitro goes off the air.

Great read so far. Selfishly I hope da Bad Guy pulls off the upset at SuperBrawl. I can't wait to read about Goldberg and Hogan on Nitro in July...for the U.S. Title Brother!

You didn't put him on permanent vacation? Once Adam added that lawsuit feature, I thought that was the best way to handle egomaniacs in TEW. Certainly cheaper than a $100 million lawsuit. You should be able to make plenty of money to eat that before bankruptcy though, I hope. Stupid Hogan.

WCW Monday Nitro Live! February Week 3, 1998 - Episode #126– What About Raven?

WCW Monday Nitro opens to a recap of last week's beat down of our Sting, Bret Hart & Lex Luger by the entire revamped nWo Wolfpac.

We cut to an aerial shot of downtown Tampa, Florida and then to a shot of the sold out Ice Palace and the pyro in the arena going off. We then cut to the announcers who tell us that all of the nWo, save Syxxx are apparently not in the building and we have not seen World Champion Sting here tonight either. Bret Hart & Lex Luger are in the building and Lex will be in action in our first hour. We are told that Tony did a sit down with Scott Hall at Scott Hall's request and later on tonight that will air. And they hype the main event of Page & Benoit vs Raven and Saturn.

REY MYSTERIO JR VS LA PARKA

Mysterio really shines in this one as he shows his full range of offense. La Parka doesn’t get much offense in but he does try to bring in a chair. While he argues with the referee, Mysterio dropkicks him in the back, sending him into the ropes and when he comes back Mysterio hits a hurricanrana and hooks the legs to get the pin.

WINNER BY PINFALL: REY MYSTERIO JR

Post match Rey's music hits as Rey plays to the Tampa crowd but the music is suddenly cut off by Alex Wright's music. Alex comes out to the set and is dancing to his music. Rey grabs a mic and says he is sick of this and challenges Wright to a match in thirteen days at SuperBrawl. Alex cockily agrees and the match is made.

When we return from commercial the Nitro Girls are in the ring and once again the new dancer Leia gets the spotlight of a solo routine.

JERRY LYNN VS YUJI NAGATA W/SONNY ONOO

Nagata controls the match early on but Lynn uses his athleticism to stage a comeback. With Nagata stunned following a flurry of offense, Lynn hits him with a cradle piledriver for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: JERRY LYNN

We go to a video recapping the crazy shenanigans of last year's WCW Spring BreaKout event. We are reminded that this year's event, bigger than last year, will take place four weeks from tonight from Club LeVela at Panama City Beach Florida and will feature the WCW return of the Bad Boy of the NBA - Dennis Rodman. The Worm returns to Spring Break in four weeks LIVE on TNT.

Nitro returns to Gene Okerlund at the Nitro set. Gene does a Hotline tease about a Northeast based promotion being worried about their upcoming “major” pay per view event being a failure. Gene then brings Lex Luger who has Bret Hart with him. They do a promo about Nash and Savage. Bret says he is watching Luger's back here tonight. Lex says Nash wanted Lex to watch what Nash did to Chris Adams last week, well Nash, how about YOU watch what I do now.

LEX LUGER W/BRET HART VS WRATH W/JAMES VANDENBURG

Wrath is one of the strongest men in WCW but Luger is on a mission to send a message to Kevin Nash ahead of their Superbrawl match. He never lets Wrath get going at any point showing off his own strength and ends up putting the larger man up in the Torture Rack which scores the win.

WINNER BY SUBMISSION: LEX LUGER

After the match Lex and Bret high five and show they are united in their efforts.

WCW Saturday Night Feature for this week highlights Ultimo Dragon’s return to WCW when he faces Steven Regal for the Television Title.

The announcers tell us that still come is the in ring return of Syxxx as well as the main event, but when we come back it is Tony's forced sit down with Scott Hall. Nitro is live from Tampa. Don’t go anywhere!

A commercial for WCW/nWo SuperBrawl airs hyping the World Title match between Sting and Scott Hall. WCW/nWo SuperBrawl VIII is in Thirteen Days from the Sold Out and historic Cow Palace in San Francisco California, LIVE and only on Pay-Per-View.

Hour two pyro goes off and Tony throws us to the following sit down interview with World Title challenger Scott Hall. The interview starts with Tony telling Scott Hall that this is under protest and points out that Tony has security. Scott does a promo on Sting and then Tony drops a bomb. Tony tells Scott that WCW is demanding that next week on the final episode of Nitro before SuperBrawl; Scott Hall, Kevin Nash & Randy Savage must compete in a six man main event against Sting, Lex Luger & Bret Hart. Hall laughs and says “or what?”. Tony responds that JJ Dillon has said that if any member of the Wolfpac refuses to compete next week, the World Title match will be cancelled as well as their other two matches and the new main event for SuperBrawl will be a 3 Way Dance for the World Title featuring Hart, Luger and Sting. At this news, Hall is furious and he goes to grab Tony but Schiavone’s security steps in. Hall throws a table and says with disgust “freakin WCW” before storming off.

The announcers put over the big match for next week before showing a graphic that shows Syxxx makes his in ring return... next.

SYXXX VS ERNEST MILLER

Syxxx looks to be in great shape coming back from his injury and he shows off his skills in this once. The Cat’s dancing is no match for the Wolfpack’s resident degenerate. Syxxx ends the match with a Buzzkill (chickenwing) and Miller taps out.

WINNER BY SUBMISSION: SYXXX

After the match, Syxxx cuts a promo on WCW after saying they think they can boss around the nWo - well the Wolfpac will be in the house next week in Philly and WCW will learn their lesson.

A graphic says that next week in Philadelphia, Curt Hennig will address his win last week and whether or not WCW offered him a contract.

A promo video of Sting airs where we see him stalk the nWo for the last year and focuses on Scott Hall in advance of their World Title match at SuperBrawl.

Smiley really doesn’t have much of a chance in this one. He’s a solid worker but Guererro shows again why he’s the cruiserweight champion. Using a combination of underhanded tactics and high flying mixed with solid technical wrestling Guererro wears down his challenger before hitting the frogsplash from the top rope.

WINNER BY PINFALL AND STILL WCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION: EDDIE GUERERRO

After the match, Eddie grabs the microphone and challenges Chris Jericho for SuperBrawl, saying he’ll even put his title on the line to smack a little respect into that punk!

Mean Gene is at the Nitro set where he tells us he will have Chris Jericho’s answer this Saturday on WCW Saturday Night. Gene then calls out Harlem Heat.

They begin to talk about their opportunity at SuperBrawl to get back to the World Tag Team Titles but they are interrupted by G.T.T.

Mark LoMonaco cuts a promo about WCW's horrible tag team division and how they're here to lead a revolution in tag team wrestling. The two teams push and shove and officials break them up as Gene throws us to commercial and says the main event is next!

The Nitro Girls are back with Chae and Kimberly doing a dual routine that most men would find….inticing.

JJ Dillon comes down to the ring and grabs a mic. JJ looks at Raven and says that he is here to ensure that Raven doesn't have his flunkies do his dirty work. Raven must earn his money and compete right now or WCW will void his contract.

DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE AND CHRIS BENOIT VS RAVEN AND SATURN

A great back and forth match with several close falls but it's only Saturn in for his team as Raven hangs out on the apron looking disinterested. The heroes are showing the same steady tag work they did in their last match but make a crucial miscue when Benoit tags in Page, then attempts a superkick but Saturn ducks and Page catches it right in the face, dropping to a knee. Raven quickly tags himself in and Saturn spears Benoit through the ropes. Raven pulls DDP up by his hair and delivers the Evenflow DDT for the win.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: RAVEN AND SATURN

Post match: Raven gets in the face of JJ and says "I just pinned your champion, I want the US title match at SuperBrawl". JJ nods reluctantly and Raven celebrates. As JJ leaves the ring. Raven has got what he wants and Chris Benoit is out of the US title match. Benoit is yelling at JJ while Raven and the Nest leave through the crowd, victorious as WCW Monday Nitro goes off the air.
