WCW Monday Nitro opens to a live shot of the raucous Spring Break crowd here at Club LaVela. Tony, Mike & Larry welcome us to the show where tonight Ric Flair will challenge Sting for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. But, we go right to the ring where Bret Hart will take on Kevin Nash to start Spring Breakout 1998

BRET HART VS KEVIN NASH

An intense and physical match that sees Bret try to bring Nash down at the knee and Nash using power spots, including his SnakeEyes turnbuckle drop to beat down the Hitman. When Nash goes for a Powerbomb, Bret is able to clip Nash’s knee which causes Big Sexy to drop to the mat. Bret goes for the Sharpshooter and locks it in. This is when Scott Hall runs out to the ring, slides in and blasts Hart from behind for the DQ.

In the parking area a long stretch limo arrives. A half dozen beautiful women exit and then the Bad Boy of the NBA, Dennis Rodman exits as well. The women flank The Worm’s side as he saunters into the venue. The Worm has come to Spring Break and Nitro will be right back.

G.T.T. will be the ones going through tables this Sunday on Pay Per View. The champs then walk down to the ring to prove how dangerous they are.

We go poolside where Gene Okerlund is standing by. He introduces his guest Booker T. Booker says that at Uncensored there’s a lot of big matches happening and he’s tired of being left out. So right here and now he’s challenging the winner of….

Suddenly he’s interrupted by the Macho Man and Elizabeth. Savage says nobody cares about Booker but everyone cares about the Macho Man and if anyone is going to throw out a challenge it will be him, oh yeeaaaa. Booker looks annoyed and that’s when Elizabeth grabs the mic and rips into Booker calling him a nobody. Booker looks incensed as he focuses on Elizabeth while Savage flanks to the side.

But when Savage charges Booker from behind, his target sidesteps him and Savage comes within inches of ramming into Elizabeth. He puts on the breaks, saving her a trip into the pool. Savage turns around, right into a spinning heel kick. He reels back and bumps Elizabeth who falls into the pool after all. Savage looks stunned, snapping his head from Booker to a flailing Elizabeth who’s floundering in the water.

Booker backs off with a big grin as Gene tells us to stay right here on Nitro because after this break Diamond Dallas Page & Chris Benoit have a challenge for Raven. This is Nitro and we’re at Spring Breakout 1998 and don't go anywhere. The camera flashes on a drenched Elizabeth just getting out of the pool as we go to commercial.

Nitro returns and Benoit and Page walk out to the ring with microphones in hand. We see up in the upper deck of Club LaVela is Raven and his Nest. Page and Benoit challenge the entire Nest to a war this Sunday at Uncensored. Raven accepts with an evil smile. Page and Benoit promise mayhem and violence. The match is made for this Sunday. As expected, this is a fast paced and high flying match that sees at one point Ultimo Dragon doing a plancha off the WCW letters at the Nitro set onto Eddie. In the ring, Dragon goes for the Dragon Sleeper but Chavo distracts the ref and Eddie is able to use the distraction to blast Dragon from behind. He hits the Triple Vertical Suplexes and takes off with the Frog Splash to retain the Cruiserweight Title.

Flair and Sting gaze into each other’s eyes and take in the moment as the fans cheer the beginning of this historic match. Soon Flair is in control and begins working on Sting’s leg using the Dirtiest Player in the Game techniques including a poke to the eye. Sting mounts a comeback and goes for the Stinger Splash, but Flair gets out of the way and Sting posts himself stumbling backward. Flair locks in the Figure Four and Sting screams in agony but is able to make it to the ropes. When Flair goes up top, Sting is there to meet him and launches Slick Ric to the mat. Sting locks in the Scorpion Deathlock but Arn Anderson runs down and is on the ring apron and Sting goes over and punches Arn. This allows Ric to clip Sting from behind in the knee and says now it's time to go to school! Ric yanks on the knee, struts a little and goes for the Figure Four but Sting pulls Ric’s head down and into a small package…

Post match, Ric and Sting go nose to nose as the fans cheer. Ric looks the champion in the eye and then sticks out his hand. Sting shakes it. Just then, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are on the scene and attack both men. This brings out Bret Hart. And Hart and Sting brawl with the Outsiders.

From the back and by surprise, Roddy Piper comes out and he sends a crap load of security as well as most of the WCW locker room to the ring to maintain order. Once order is there Piper grabs a mic.

Piper says that he knew the match this Sunday was too chaotic for a normal striped shirt. These four men will tear each other apart and so this match needs someone who is dangerous to officiate it. Regal attempts to stun Goldberg when he charges with a vicious European Uppercut. Regal goes for an underhook bridge but Goldberg backdrops Regal. From there, Goldberg nails a side kick, sends Regal into the ropes, nails the spear and the Jackhammer. In less than a minute, it’s all over.

Chavo is beginning to show a vicious side and a cheating side in this match because every time that Jericho gets an advantage, Chavo does something underhanded to take the lead again. Both men spend time doing an aerial showcase as well as both men working on the ground game. The finish comes when Chavo goes for a top rope leg drop but Jericho stands up and catches Chavo in the air into the Liontamer. Chavo crawls to the ropes but taps out just before he reaches the ropes.

We go to an highlight video of the World Tag Team Titles Match. G.T.T. then make their way to the ring as the announcers wonder if Rick Steiner can even compete. Scotty and Rick come out with Scott questioning his brother the entire way down to the ring. Rick says he’s good to go and the match is on.

G.T.T. take out Rick early and essentially this match is a handicap match. Rick tries to come back but then Devon nails Rick with a chair in his shoulder. Eventually G.T.T. crack a chair over Scott’s head busting him open. They then fully take out Rick when they lock Rick’s arm in a chair and slams another chair on top of it. After setting up a table, Scott tries to fight them off but is drilled with the Death Drop through a table for the convincing win.

Hennig shows a fire and aggression early in this match and really smacks around Wright, but the young German proves to be hard to put away. When Hennig goes for the Hennig-Plex, Wright is able to wiggle out and pushes Curt towards the ropes and then immediately distracts the ref. The camera man nails Curt Hennig with his camera while Wright distracts the ref. The camera-man takes his hat off and it’s Rick Rude!! Wright covers Hennig 1...2...3.

Both men take brutal damage in this ladder match for the Cruiserweight title. The high spot that stands out the most is Jerry Lynn doing a Hurricanrana on Eddie off the top of the ladder and Eddie nailing a Frog Splash from the top of the ladder. The finish comes when Jerry Lynn floors Eddie with a chair and starts climbing the ladder but Chavo Guerrero runs out and grabs onto Lynn’s leg. Chavo wraps his body around Lynn’s legs with Jerry trying to shake him as Eddie climbs up the ladder. Just as Eddie reaches the belt, Jerry is able to kick Chavo but its too late. Eddie grabs the belt and retains.

THE NEST VS DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE AND CHRIS BENOIT

As expected this is a wild ass brawl with Page and Benoit actually able to deal pretty well with the numbers game. The US Champ and the Crippler even have the advantage when Page nails Raven with a kendo stick and Benoit uses the stick to lock in the Crossface. That is when a huge man arrives.

This man stops over the ropes and gets into the ring and immediately begins choking out Page. Benoit gets up and starts attacking this man and that allows Raven to hit the Evenflow on Benoit for the pinfall.

Syxxx is a bumping machine in this match as Luger uses power spots but Rodman keeps distracting Luger so Syxxx stays in it. Eventually Syxxx is able to nail Luger from behind with a low blow and begin to take over but when Syxxx goes for the Buzzkiller, Lex uses his massive frame to power out. Rodman gets on the apron but Luger clothesline’s him off and locks in the Torture Rack on Syxxx who has no choice but to tap out.

A music video airs that takes us through Sting & Bret Hart’s issues with the Outsiders. The announcers remind us the stipulation here tonight: if the Outsiders win this match, Kevin Nash gets a title match at any point of his choosing in 1998.

STING AND BRET HART VS THE OUTSIDERS

As soon as the match begins, the nWo try to attack the Champ and Bret, but Jake Roberts pushes everyone away and orders the nWo to leave - threatening to break out his snake which sends Nash and Hall’s buddies scurrying to the back. From there we have a wild brawl between the two teams with liberal use of weapons as Jake just lets it all go and enjoys the chaos. With the nWo neutralized, Bret and Sting prepare to end things with both men locking in their respective submissions (the Scorpion Deathlock and the Sharpshooter) at the same time!! This brings out Konnan who runs down to the ring. Jake meets him and DDT’s Konnan but behind Jake is Savage with a chair and bashes both Bret and Sting in the head with the chair and slides out before Jake ever sees him. Nash covers Sting with one arm for the 1...2...3.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: THE OUTSIDERS

The nWo is victorious once more as WCW/nWo Uncensored goes off the air.

WCW Monday Nitro Live! March Week 4, 1998 - Episode #131 - “Nash’s Moment”

WCW Monday Nitro opens with chaos as JJ Dillon is being loaded into an ambulance. There are a ton of medical personnel around and wrestlers and angry voices as it is clear that another person has been attacked. Roddy Piper is talking with someone when he looks down and sees a pipe on the ground and right next to it is a note. Piper reads the note and immediately looks concerned. He grabs the pipe and then re-reads the note and orders security to protect the exits for the rest of the show. The ambulance drives off with JJ as everyone is terrified.

Last night at WCW/nWo Uncensored, the Outsiders prevailed and now Kevin Nash has a chance to challenge for a title match at any point of his choosing before this year is out. And this mysterious attacker has again attacked and this time it's the Chairman of the Executive Committee as the victim. We do not know what is to come here tonight, but everyone is now concerned. JJ Dillion is not a wrestler. He’s an executive. We do know that the nWo is here and Kevin Nash will speak later on tonight. And we have heard a rumor that Sting will be here before this night is over. Tonight is sure to be a chaotic night on Nitro but we go to the ring with our opening contest featuring the Guerrero family, La Familia as they’re known, against Chris Jericho & Jerry Lynn.

Booker says he's here tonight to move on and issue a challenge to the man we just saw, Goldberg, for next week on Nitro. Booker wants that belt.

Goldberg, who is walking up the aisle, gets in Booker’s face - snarls and nods his head. The match is made for next week.

WCW Monday Nitro returns with police now around the announcers desk. They take us back to earlier tonight and show us JJ Dillon being loaded into an ambulance, the victim of another apparent attack. They throw us to Mean Gene Okerlund who is backstage with WCW Commissioner Roddy Piper.

Mean Gene is with Roddy Piper who says what he saw tonight was disgusting. That is why he has ordered security to protect the announcers and the commentators as well as the wrestlers. He tells us that as God is his witness, Piper will protect this company here tonight. When Gene asks what the letter said, Piper looks concerned but says he won’t go into the details, but vows the letter will not come true here tonight. Piper walks off.

We go to the ring where Raven is in the ring with the big giant of a man. He tells us that before JJ Dillon went down, Raven demanded and was granted a match for Spring Stampede for the United States Title. It will be Raven against Diamond Dallas Page for the belt. Raven tells us this man, his personal enforcer, is Reese and he will show just how vicious he can be right now. Quote the Raven, Nevermore.

REESE W/RAVEN VS ERNEST MILLER

The gigantic monster easily throws The Cat around with Ernest just trying to land some kicks and jabs but to no avail. Soon, Raven yells “finish it” and that is when Reese grabs Miller by the neck with both hands, lifts him up and drives Miller to the mat in a Chokeslam Bomb. A quick three count ends this massacre.

Nash and the nWo come out all gloating. The first thing they do is have Hall do his survey. The next thing they do is have Macho Man issue a warning to Booker T to not bite off more than he can chew. Syxxx says that Lex Luger did not tap him out last night, Syxxx just had a massive cramp in a vital area if you get what he means. Syxxx challenges Luger for a rematch next week on Nitro. And then it is time for the man of the hour, Kevin Nash. Nash gloats about being the guy with the golden ticket. And he begins to wonder aloud when he should cash in his golden ticket? Should it be tonight? Maybe next week? Maybe in September? Who knows. The only thing that’s for sure about when Sting will get the Jackknife and lose his belt is...nothing’s for sure. The Wolfpac gloat and all the nWo members lift Kevin up on their shoulders to celebrate.

We go back to last night and see that Rick Rude helped Alex Wright defeat Curt Hennig.

ALEX WRIGHT W/RICK RUDE VS JOHNNY SWINGER

Alex displays a new aggressive attitude and nearly none of the dancing as he works Swinger over with brutal stretches, punishing kicks and even a choke in the corner. Swinger holds his own for a bit until Rude trips him and then Wright drops Swinger on the back of his neck with a release German Suplex for the 3 count.

DEAN MALENKO VS JUVENTUD GUERRERA

A fantastic and equally matched bout that see both men showcase their two styles. On the floor Juvie hits a 450 from inside the ring to the outside that gets several replays. In the ring, Dean hits a series of suplexes before locking in the Texas Cloverleaf. Juvie gallantly holds on, but eventually has to succumb to the pain for the submission.

Mean Gene is in the ring and introduces the new WCW Tag Team Champions, Mark LoMonaco & Devon Hughes - G.T.T. The new champs come out full of celebration and with a cocky swagger. LoMonaco says that he told us this would happen. They brag and say that the Steiners are yesterday’s news while G.T.T. are the team that will change tag team wrestling heading into the twenty first century. And each week here on Nitro, they will prove it. Starting right now.

The new champs attack Rage and Kaos as soon as the bell rings and from there its a destructive display of force by G.T.T. who take their time beating up on High Voltage before dispatching them with the Death Drop for the three count. G.T.T. make it clear that someone will have to step up to stop them.

Nitro returns to WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting already repelling down from the heavens. Sting stands alone in the ring and has a microphone in his hands. Sting lifts the microphone to break his silence….

WCW Commissioner, Rowdy Roddy Piper comes out and into the ring and he still has the pipe from earlier in his hands as well as the note. Piper tells Sting that he is sorry for interrupting him but there is a reason for Piper to be out here right now.

When JJ was attacked earlier, the attacker left this note. The note says that the next victim...is Sting. Piper says that “we both know who did this and I’ll be damned if it’s going to go down like that tonight”. And that is why Piper is here. To warn Sting that the att…

The lights go out.

When they come back on 3 seconds later, Sting and Piper are back to back in defensive positions looking for the attacker. They both look around and then Piper turns around and hits Sting in the knee with the pipe!!!

The WCW Commissioner has a sadistic smile on his face as Sting looks surprised and even a little hurt before Piper starts wailing away at Sting with the pipe - hitting the champion all over his body. Security flood the ring but Piper orders them off because he’s the boss!

Piper grabs a mic and says “when you think you have the answers, I’ll always change the damned question. But here’s a simple one - you have what I’ve always wanted. I’m next.”

Piper hits Sting in the head with the pipe and and soaks in the jeers as the announcers scream bloody murder. Rowdy Roddy Piper is the attacker?
