My main issue was forgetting to account for TAG, leading to me putting Jordan and Callum too high, while also leading to the underrating of Warmonger and to a lesser extent Tanaka. That and I completely underestimated Tigre, putting him in 7th. I'm interested to see who you'll be bringing in for automatic promotions this season. Also an interesting note is assuming Devilfish isn't brought in for Prestige VII, Prestige IV will be the first season to have all debuted wrestlers completely relegated and not competing in a season (I has Perez & Lucha III, II has Tigre, III has Youngman, V has Mallory and VI has Warmonger). This is also the first season not to have a debuting wrestler automatically relegated (Washi, de Aske, Mimic, Cougar, Devilfish and Sakai). Also giving another check, weirdly the 8th place wrestler has been relegated the same number of times as the 6th place wrestler (due to Owusu's hiatus). The tag league has an enormous impact and there's plenty of stories/tension to come out of wrestlers trying to do both, or having to choose between one. As usual, there's a predictions competition taking place over the 9 rounds of League competition and the Finale at PWL Vengeance. The posting schedule is going to be a little weird this week. The next show that'll be posted is Round 1 of Season 7 of the singles league, which you can predict below. That'll be posted before the next tag show which you've already been able to predict. I want to give time for people to get their singles league predictions in, so the next show will be posted on Friday instead of Wednesday. Predictions Competitions Predicting the shows - A 50% commitment is required to enter the competition. - Draws earn you a point no matter who you chose. Predicting the tournament winner - You have two picks - the first will get you maximum points, while the second will get you half points. - The tournament winner pick counts is worth a maximum of 20% of the number of matches you predict. Winning The winner of the predictions competition gets to pick a PWL wrestler to have an in-depth interview on Joanne Rodriguez's Behind the Curtain podcast. Everyone who predicts 50% or more, will be able to submit questions to that wrestler as part of the interview (like an Ask Me Anything). Please make sure you get your winner predictions in before the second round of the League, else it will not count. That show will be posted on Wednesday 25th August, so make sure to get your winners in before then. Paolo Gandalfini Don Henderson def. Jash Singh Landon Mallory def. Ernest Youngman I love the fact you messed with 2 of those statistics I gave you meaning that season 4 does have a representative (Devilfish) and 6th place has now been relegated MORE times than 8th thanks to Tanaka. This season is going to be weird. I can't see anyone in this current season winning yet which just sound wrong. I was planning on going for Perez but he's gone. The league feels a bit weaker than normal, but then again Tayama is likely retiring (or Tayama/Perez tag team?!), Perez, Makinen, Callum, Jordan and Owusu are all gone off to TAG. Captain Lucha is gone. So winner predictions: 1. Ernest Youngman 2. Mr. Lucha III And my table predictions. I expect these to kind of suck as I don't know the competitors well. 10th: Jash Singh You're going to see 3/4 new promotions down here as I just don't know them. Jash's name has me the least excited however so yeah, 10th in the league. 9th: Paolo Galdalfini Yeah, might hopes for Paolo aren't much higher. Obviously he could do well, but I feel like these bottom two are just some guys rotating through as you try to balance things out with tag. 8th: Jotaro Tanaka He's developing, he's getting better but I don't know. Something is telling me not to back him. I think he'll avoid those automatic relegation places though and he could go higher. Be interesting to see where his story with Warmonger goes. 7th: Don Henderson Something about Don makes me thing he'll do alright. I think I recognise the name and if I recognise the name, they're more likely to do well. Afterall Youngman, Perez, DWN, Findlay, Callum are all names I recognise from other diaries and look at where they are. 6th: Warmonger I'm not expecting the world from the big man, but he'll prove himself to be the best big man PWL has ever seen by managing to survive 2 seasons and continue to attempt to beat up Tanaka endlessly. 5th: Tigre Salvaje Jr. Losing those title matches always hurts and I can see Tigre struggling to reach his glory levels once again in the new league. 4th: Devilfish I think being in TAG will hurt him just enough to stop him winning the title, but his return to PWL will go a lot better for him. #1 goal is to see him beat the Auzzie. 3rd: Mr. Lucha III He tries his best, but I get the feeling he'll win the title off Youngman, so his moment isn't right now. 2nd: Landon Mallory Keep him the bridesmaid for another season, losing out in a shock defeat to Devilfish. 1st: Ernest Youngman This season lacks the depth for me to bet against him. Any of the top 4 have a good story for winning, but having the Champ win always looks good. He'll pick Devilfish for the title shot. As for my Behind the Curtain guest there are a lot of good options, but I think I'm going to go with Mallory. He's a big name and I don't think he's had his appearance yet (speaking of, we need to see a match between him and Owusu at some point). It's always SO interesting to read your thoughts on where you think each wrester is going. It's nice to see some things match with what'll happen, and other things that'll go in a completely different direction. The league is a little weaker this season. I really wanted the tag league not to feel like a secondary competition. It is just slightly below the singles league, but I wanted to pack it with enough star power to make it come across as relevant and worthwhile. Meanwhile, in the singles league, I think there are enough established top guys - Mallory, Youngman, Tigre & Mr. Lucha III to carry the match quality and star presence while opening things up for one or two new stars to emerge. I think for the first time ever, I haven't finished writing all the shows of the League before the first one is posted. It hasn't been a perfect season in terms of absences, but it's generally going well, and I'm excited to get to Vengeance when both the singles and the tag leagues culminate.
