ECW Anarchy 15,000 at the Pepsi Arena, Tri State We as per usual, go through the opening video package before cutting to the arena where the fans are hyped as usual, all though there are some signs slating the ECW show from last week, which failed to deliver promised matches. One sign stands out, and it reads “Don’t be the next WWE!” as we go to ringside to be welcomed to ECW Anarchy by Joey Styles, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan & Jim Cornette. They explain that from this point on, Jim Cornette would be replacing Heyman at the announcers booth, as Heyman has “More Important Things to Do!” The show then fades to a video package highlighting the last show. It focuses on Kurt Angle’s Four Way Elimination victory, Bobby Lashley’s surprise addition to that match, Edge qualifying for the main event tonight and Johnny Nitro’s surprise defeat at the hands of Charlie Haas, at least a surprise to him. RATING: B+ ---------- We go straight to another video package, this time of Kurt Angle as he is seen in a wrestling training dojo of sorts. The video package shows him training any diva that wished to come down and learn from the Wrestling Machine. The girls that show up are Trish Stratus, Cheerleader Melissa and Melina Perez. Trish and Melina were shown clearly trying to one up each other, but the standout of the package was Cheerleader Melissa. We also saw some of the moves taught to Trish and Melina, that they used in their match up last week. The package ended with Kurt Angle stating that he felt these women would revolutionize women’s wrestling. RATING: A ---------- vs. Melina Perez vs. Victoria ECW Rulz Match Victoria came out firing on all cylinders as she seemed determined to show that anything Trish Stratus could do, she could do better. At first Victoria gave Melina little chance to pull together any offence as she methodically worked over Melina. At one point it Victoria could be heard saying she didn’t need Kurt Angle’s help to beat Melina. The high points of Victoria’s offence where her standing moonsault which resulted in a near pinfall, and her Somersault Leg Drop! However, eventually Victoria got to ****y and took too long before trying to drive her shoulder into Melina’s abdomen while she was in the corner, and Melina sent her right through to the steel ring post. Melina, who was getting a “Let’s Go Kyra” chant, worked over the shoulder through the rest of the match, using weapons to also assault the weakened shoulder, but Victoria turned out to be too resilient and thought back, hitting the Widow’s peak for the victory. WINNER: Victoria RATING: C+ ---------- A Music video to “Kiss of Death” by Jadakiss starts to show, focusing on four individuals known to independent wrestling fans as Low Ki, B-Boy, Jay Lethal and Nick Gage. The main focus of the video was on Low Ki, and it showed their times in JAPW, CZW and other independent federations. The video package ended with the four standing in front of a black screen posing. RATING: C- ---------- vs. Low-Ki vs. Steve Corino ECW Television Title Tournament Match Steve Corino came to the ring on his own, but Low Ki didn’t. To “Hood Hop” by J-Kwon, Low Ki came down to the ring with B-Boy, Jay Lethal and Nick Gage. It was announced that Low Ki was coming to the ring with the Street Style Thugs, as they played up to the crowd, trying to get as big a heel reaction as they could. The match started with the Street Style Thugs watching Low Ki and Steve Corino trade fists and chops. However the Original “King of Kings” managed to stop a clothesline attempt by Low-Ki and hit an STO on Low-Ki to gain the first advantage. Steve Corino then took it to Low Ki, hitting impact move after impact move, along with a vicious beatdown style, and looked to have the match in hand. An Old School Bomb seemed to have the match won, but Nick Gage pulled the ref out of the ring. As Steve Corino went to trade words and if he was allowed, maybe fists with Nick Gage, Jay Lethal ran up behind him and hit him with a Dragon Suplex into the middle of the ring. A Warrior’s Way later, and a new ref saw Low-Ki pick up the victory over Steve Corino to advance to the final of the ECW Television Title Tournament. WINNER: Low-Ki RATING: C+ ---------- The sound of glass shattering got the arena into an uproar as out from the back walked out the Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin. He looked all business as he went to the ring and flipped off the fans at each corner before dropping down and taking a mic from the announcer, intimidating him with the way he ripped the microphone from his hand. Steve Austin Last week wasn’t a good damn week for Stone Cold Steve Austin. The fact that the business suits ****ed up all the contracts, didn’t help me run my show. So, what did Stone Cold do, he went to get some answers. Now I realize with hindsight that I was probably a bit too rough on the guys, but a pissed off Rattlesnake doesn’t give a damn. So, all though I may not have told you, when I visited the offices, if you got a Stone Cold Stunner, then your fired. So let’s take a look, roll the footage. The video showed Stone Cold visiting the ECW Headquarters, but there was nothing comedic about his visit, as he stormed in with a steel chair and started laying out employees. Of course the ECW fans saw it as hilarious though, as Stone Cold gave some employees a stunner after asking questions and not getting answers. Eventually the camera returned to Stone Cold in the ring. Steve Austin Maybe now, they won’t mess up, stupid corporate business suits. But, there was a reason I was probably a bit too harsh on the suits. And that’s because last week, two stupid son of a bitches thought it would be a good idea to attack Stone Cold………EHHH EH! Stupid move, that’s going to cost ya, because now Stone Cold is going to open a can of whoop ass, and stomp a mudhole into your stupid carcasses. As Stone Cold talked, the ECW Theme started to play, as from the back walked out Paul Heyman. Stone Cold looked at Paul Heyman as he stood on the rampway. Paul Heyman Stone Cold Steve Austin, the authority in ECW. Do you know how much I’ve put into this company? Do you know how many late nights I had, making ECW the most revolutionary company in wrestling history? It wasn’t easy, but I made ECW what it was, and the reason all these fans tune in today, is because of what I did with this company in the past. But, investors didn’t want to see Paul Heyman with all the power, so what did they do, they made me get a business partner to run the show. So I picked you? Why did I pick you? Because Stone Cold, ECW made you the star you are today. Your fame came from a character I let you create and also came from you and the WWE ripping off one of our established characters, The Sandman. You see Stone Cold, I didn’t bring you here because I thought you’d be good for ECW. I brought you here to teach you a lesson in humility and respect for the company that made you. You want to know who’s telling the Hit Squad what to do and when to do it. Well, if you don’t know by now, then you really need to cut down on the drinking. Stone Cold, if you thought Vince McMahon was a problem, you ain’t seen nothing yet. As Paul Heyman talked, the Hit Squad ran in through the crowd and slid in behind Stone Cold. Ken Doane hit the RK-Doane on Stone Cold after turning him around as the Hit Squad then started laying the boots to Steve Austin, before throwing him from the ring. The scene ended with a recovered Stone Cold wanting to get at Heyman or the Hit Squad, but being restrained by security brought out by Heyman. Jeter started things off with Mick Mondo, and it seemed as if Mick was trying to get Johnny to join up with them, mentioning the Spirit Squad, and how under Heyman they’d get a real chance. Jeter replied with Superkick and a close pinfall, which got the match started. Jeter and Punk showed good teamwork for a put together team, and controlled the majority of the match, until Mick Mondo hit CM Punk with a chair to the back. Ken Doane then took control but the faces started to come back after Johnny came in illegally, and hit a Kick of Funk and then CM Punk followed it with a Shining Wizard. But then after a signal from Heyman, some familiar music hit, as from the back stepped out “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown. He ran down to the ring and took down CM Punk with a clothesline, and then Johnny Jeter fell victim to the POUNCE! Ken Doane then took this opportunity to win the match, still using the ropes for leverage on CM Punk, just to make sure. Edge walks by and snickers as he looks at Kurt. Kurt Angle What you laughing at? Edge Just how seriously a sell out like you, takes himself! You know, your all to quick to tell everyone about how great you are. But you’re really not that great. After all, the reason you’re bald is because of me. And now you chase the ECW title like it means something to you. You about as loyal as the WWE fans that have fled to watching this company. You make me sick, and you’re a disgrace to this business. Edge seemed to wait for a reply from Kurt, but Kurt just smiled and walked away. Jim Cornette immediately started hyping AMW up, stating that ECW was bringing in the best tag teams for this Ring Wars Tag Team Tournament. Out from the back came AMW, accompanied by Gail Kim as well as they walked to the ring, riling up the crowd to get a heel reaction. The match started with Suicidally Extreme however, introducing AMW to the ECW ways of old, Sabu using a chair as well as anyone can to damage James Storm as they kept him away from his partner, and James Storm was also introduced to the kendo stick of Sandman. It looked as if the match would be a squash until Gail Kim managed to grab Sabu’s attention. Sabu went over to move Gail Kim from the ring apron, and as he turned around, walked right into a DDT from James Storm. James made the hot tag to Chris Harris who started to clean house, but found the team of Suicidally Extreme, to be extremely resilient. Sabu finally got control of the match again, but down ran the FBI, who slide into the ring and went after Sabu again. When Sandman came to help, the FBI attacked him too, as James Storm took the opportunity to take the beaten Sabu and cuff him to the ring ropes. They were then left with the beaten Sandman which the ****ily covered for the victory. Maria The last thing anyone wants to be is used and under appreciated. And that is basically what has happened to me, at the hands of The New Impact Players. Who’s idea was it to form the New Impact Players? Who got them their spot in the Ring Wars, Tag Team Title Tournament? And who then got kicked to the curb, and is now forced to watch them claim that they will become Tag Team Champions? The answer to all those questions is me. So here’s another question, that’s answer is Maria Kanellis. Who’s going to destroy the team that she created? I look forward to seeing how you do in this Tag Team Title Tournament. But I’m looking forward even more, to when it’s over. See you after Ring Wars, boys! Maria smiled and seemingly went off camera to join someone. RATING: C ---------- The Cameras go elsewhere backstage, finding the beaten and hurt Sabu and Sandman talking backstage. They showed why initially by simply out wrestling the Full Blooded Italians, even though Little Guido is now slouch in that department. However when Johnny Parisi got involved, the tides turned, and if the FBI couldn’t out wrestle them, they would just beat them down till they could get the pinfall. However, while they had the upperhand, the music of Sabu began to play as the FBI turned to look at the rampway. But nobody came. That’s when Tony Mamaluke turned into a T-Bone Suplex and Nunzio got a Belly to Belly from Charlie Haas. Haas then hit the Haastruction on Tony Mamaluke for the victory. Sabu and Sandman then ran in and beat up Johnny Parisi before leaving, looking at the fallen FBI. Angle You see this, this is just a week and a half away from being mine. It doesn’t matter who wins the four way tonight, they are not going to beat me at the Ring Wars Pay Per View. It can be this mystery participant, Kane, Tajiri or even Edge. It doesn’t matter who, because I’m the Wrestling Machine, and nobody can beat me in that ring. Kane, ask your brother! But you know what, I hope it’s you Edge. Because I’ll take the greatest pleasure in beating you up, and showing you that it doesn’t matter where we are, I’ll always be better than you. I don’t need to sink to lower tactics, I’ll just beat you in the ring. So if you plan on being ECW Champion for awhile before you up and leave, then call up Amy Dumas and ask her to sort you out some help, some counselling. Because you’re delusional! Kurt Angle left the ECW World Heavyweight Title on a table behind him and walked off as the camera faded out on the ECW Title. Only problem was, Kurt Angle isn’t that slow. At first Joey Mercury did a good job, until he got caught into an Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex. Once that happened, Mercury’s offence from that point on was irregular and always short lived, as Kurt Angle dominated the match, showing exactly what he was bringing to ECW and how ready he was for the World Title Match. However, Mercury showed great resilience and caused the match to continue. One great last effort saw Mercury get Angle against the ropes and looked as if and upset may happen, but Angle came in with a reversal and locked in a Scissored Ankle Lock. That’s when Edge’s music hit and Edge came running down to the ring. Edge and Angle traded rights and lefts, before Edge raked his eyes and Mercury took the opportunity to roll up Angle and use the tights out of the ref’s view, for the win. Kane’s expression couldn’t be read, but he seemingly wasn’t intimidated at all as he went out to meet Ken Shamrock outside the ring, and started trading fists, and Kane soon took the upperhand. In the ring Edge saw an opportunity and lined up behind TAJIRI, waiting for him to turn around so he could spear him, as he was watching Kane and Ken Shamrock, but TAJIRI must have had eyes in the back of his head and as he turned around, snapped his foot across the head of Edge and picked up a 2 ¾ count. The match stayed with these pairings for awhile, as Ken Shamrock used his MMA background to try and beat Kane. Eventually though, Ken Shamrock was sent through the announcers table with a Chokeslam by the vicious and unforgiving Kane. Kane looked as if he was about to win, as TAJIRI and Edge had both knocked each other out in the ring, but then Bobby Lashley ran out and started to attack Kane. The two fought through the crowd and disappeared into the back. This left Ken Shamrock lifeless outside the ring, and Edge and TAJIRI in it. Edge and TAJIRI continued the fight and TAJIRI was about to put Edge away but Ken Shamrock came in out of nowhere and took him down into an Ankle Lock and TAJIRI tapped out. This left Edge and Ken Shamrock. Ken however was still badly injured because of the chokeslam from earlier, and eventually it caught up to him, as Edge worked over his back, which he seemed to be favouring. A spear through a table and then a Edgecution later and Edge had won the Four Way Elimination Match. After many officials attempted to get Kurt to stop, he did and got to his feet, to turn straight into the face of Ken Shamrock. The two starred at each other as the cameras faded out for the end of the show.
Backstage News from ECW Anarchy Everyone feels that ECW is back on track with the last edition of ECW Anarchy. Especially as they managed to deliver the matches that they promised and the people that had been leaked out to the internet as appearing on last weeks show, did appear on this one. Also ECW has started hyping Ring Wars as the PPV coming up at the end of the month. However many feel not enough energy has been put behind hyping the Pay Per View. However it is felt that enough storylines are building up to this PPV. The video segment with Kurt Angle and the divas, wasn’t just a video segment to fill the show. Kurt Angle has actually spent time training the divas, as ECW pushes for a women’s division that showcases skilled women wrestlers. The debut’s on Anarchy were rather low key, as the crowd didn’t really react massively to anyone apart from Ken Shamrock. However ECW are happy with the performances of all the debutants and feel it is just a matter of getting them over. It has been clear since the beginning of this new ECW that Shelton Benjamin, all though until this Anarchy, having not picked up a victory, was being pushed as one of ECW’s main eventers, along with Bobby Lashley and Joey Mercury. While they feel everything is going well with Mercury and Benjamin, as Mercury is performing well and Benjamin is starting to look like a star in his segments, Lashley is starting to lose confidence, and many are wondering if he’s only getting the reaction because he is working with Kane. And speaking of Mercury, Angle was happy to lose to Mercury, apparently being very understanding that ECW needs to make stars. However, when it was suggested to Edge that Ken Shamrock win the match, apparently Edge wasn’t as understanding, and Ken also wanted to win the match himself too and wasn’t keen on selling Kane as a monster. However overall, the increase in viewers on USA was a big plus, showing overall that ECW was heading in the right direction. Rumour also has it that Trish Stratus is pushing for Alexis Laree to be approached or considered when her contract runs out. Apparently ECW management has got in contact with Alexis Laree but that is all we know currently.
www.ringwars.com
