AEW Dynamite

Live on TNT from Gallagher-Iba Arena

Wednesday October 23, 2019

We open the show with Lance Archer def Mark Andrews in 9:30. Archer lived up to his nickname "Murderhawk" as he destroyed Andrews with a Blackout to win the match.

Pre-Tape Promo: We get another video hyping up the debut of The Patrick Clark Experience.

Match 2: SCU def Tony Deppen & 3.0 in 10:11. SCU used their experience as a trio to their advantage, getting the win with a Fatal Answer from Sky to Deppen.

Pre-Tape Promo: We get another video with Truth Martini talking about the House of Truth coming to AEW.

Backstage Promo: Penta el Zero M is backstage and he says in his broken English that his brother, Rey Fenix, suffered a partially torn ACL in their match last week and will be unable to compete this Saturday in the tag team tournament at AEW Summit. However, he found himself a suitable partner and his name is Flamita.

Match 3: Deonna Purrazzo def Santana Garrett in 9:34. This was a solid women's match that was very even for most of it. However, Purrazzo caught Garrett in the Venus De Milo and caused her to submit.

After the match, we see The Million Dollar Dynasty clapping from the ramp. Could Deonna be the next member?

Pre-Tape Promo: We get a video package hyping up the AEW World Title match this Saturday between WALTER and Bryan Danielson. WALTER talks about how he respected Bryan due to his respect for the sacred ring. However, that changed when he started making a mockery out of it by showboating and pandering to the fans. Bryan says that WALTER may have dominated the tournament so far and people say that Bryan has no chance, but he's been told that before and he's proved them wrong. At AEW Summit, he will prove them wrong again and become the first ever AEW World Champion.

Match 4: Adam Page def Chris Bey in 11:19. Page downed Bey in a heatless match with the Buckshot Lariat. It was after the match that got the most attention when a debuting Tyler Montel (fka Tyler Breeze) attack Page, nailing Page with a Beauty Shot.

Pre-Tape Promo: Another promo video of Chas Betts saying he's coming to AEW to be the Alpha.

Match 5: Rosemary & Allie def Mercedes Martinez & Madison Eagles in 9:37. The unique friendship of Rosemary and Allie paid dividends as they took down the much bigger team when Rosemary pinned Eagles with the Red Wedding.

Backstage Promo: We see AJ Styles walking backstage when he comes across The Elite and The Good Brothers. Kenny Omega throws up the "2 Sweet" to AJ and tell him to "come on over to our side". AJ brings up the last time they were together, Kenny and The Bucks stabbed him in the back. Omega says that's in the past and to let bygones by bygones. AJ says he doesn't forget easily, then tells The Good Brothers that they are better than hanging with those three. AJ then challenges Omega to a match at AEW Summit, which Kenny accepts.

Match 6: KENTA def Shane Strickland in 12:24. KENTA and Strickland put on a good showing as it was the second best match on the show. KENTA won with a Go To Sleep.

Match 7: WALTER & Shelton Benjamin def Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli in 15:38. WALTER and Benjamin worked surprisingly well together. WALTER manhandled Danielson and took him out with a massive chop when Bryan was going for the Running Knee to win the match. The show ends with WALTER posing over a fallen Bryan.

He says he's going to be a fighting champion like he has always been in his career. It doesn't matter who it is, whether it be a new foe...or an old one.

At this point, someone jumps in the ring and starts attacking Bryan. No one could get a good look at the assailant at first. However, once things slowed down, the camera showed that the attacker is none other than...MIKE MIZANIN! Mizanin continues the assault and finishes Bryan with a Skull Crushing Finale. Dynamite goes off the air with Mike posing with the AEW World Title.

I could see either Omega or Moxley walking away with the championship on this one, although realistically I think the only person who isn't in with a shot of winning is Mizanin - he seemed like he was being set up as an easy first defense for Danielson.
