Hanan has been having a tough time in terms of taking losses, but feels like she deserves a 1 on 1 shot at the new Future Champion Mai Sakurai.

 

Miyu Amasaki:

Miyu is upbeat after strong praise from red belt champ KAIRI, alongside tagging with some of STARDOM’s best this tour in Mayu, Tam & Utami, she is ready to take her chance at contending for the Future belt.

 

Ruaka:

Ruaka is annoyed she has to share the ring with her two rivals in STARDOM, whose positivity is way too much.

 

Match Overview:

All three ladies brought it tonight, showing how much they want to step up to challenge for the future belt.

 

Hanan’s & Ruaka’s estimating of Miyu proved to be their downfall, as Hanan is thrown over the top rope, with a staggering Ruaka stumbling into the perfect position for Miyu to hit her Jumping DDT. Three seconds later, Miyu picks up a huge upset win!

Fukigen’s classic Death noises are translated by Starlight, who seems to mock Fukigen’s targeting of Kamitani to redeem herself in the high speed division.

 

Queen’s Quest:

For only the second time this year – AphroditE tag up tonight, potentially in preparation for the Goddesses cup

 

Match Overview:

This contest was a fantastic showcase for these four competitors! The main through line of this match was Utami being unable to keep up with the quickness of the other three, therefore giving up trying to match them in favour for raw power.

 

Fukigen mocking Utami by pretending that she too was blown up, earns her a huge Torture Rack Bomb, quick tag, then Frog Splash from Saya for the win.

Cosmic Angels:

An oddly serious Tam allows Unagi & Waka to lead the promo by promising to show Tam a stronger support side to Cosmic Angels.

 

Donna Del Mondo:

Mai welcomed to the final DDM challenge by a positive Giulia and a reluctant Syuri. Mai promises to show STARDOM her new side.

 

Match Overview:

The sneaky Mai Sakurai avoids entering this contest at all costs, resulting in Syuri & Giulia leading the early offence on every Cosmic Angels offensive.

 

Midway through the match when Syuri does tag out to Mai, she slowly enters the ring with Tam standing opposite. One circle around each other Mai doges two attacks, then cowardly tags out to Syuri, who still hasn’t fully healed.

 

Towards the end Waka is crying out for a tag, with Tam down in the ring looking over. Another reluctant pause is made by Tam before she touches Waka’s hand but despite Tam’s trust in her Waka is unable to turn the momentum of the match and is eventually finished off by a Big Boot from Giulia

Natsuko & Saki still promise an open slot for Hazuki if she is kicked out of STARS tonight, it will be nice to have someone to provide the Oedo Tai snacks…

 

STARS:

Koguma handles the STARS promo by herself, as she wants Hazuki to take the time to have a final think about her future direction with or without STARS.

 

Match Overview:

Hazuki kicks off the match with Saki, in which Hazuki tries to test run working alone to take on Oedo Tai 2 to 1.

 

This plan inevitably fails, as Hazuki ends up on the receiving end of some brutal double team moves, with Koguma barely able to watch from the outside, crying out for the tag. Only once there finally is a realisation moment, Hazuki tags out, then the match becomes more 50/50.

 

Unfortunately, Oedo Tai did so much damage in the early stage, they manage to punish Koguma and Hazuki separately, ensuring that a huge Marici can’t be kicked out of by Koguma.

Fukuoka Double Crazy lay broken and battered in the middle of the ring as Toro & Kashima’s hands are raised high.

 

They leave then return with the Oedo Tai chair, intending to cause some damage, before a better idea of Hazuki inflicting the damage is made. Hazuki is helped up, handed the chair, then goaded to attack Koguma. A year flew by in 10 seconds in Hazuki’s brain, until she turns and swings at Oedo Tai, leaving them to beat a retreat and Koguma to be attended to.

Natsupoi:

Natsupoi knows she the support of her tag partner and the fans in tonight’s challenge, she just needs to harness their energy and perform for them!

 

Thekla:

Thekla mockingly compares how quick Natsupoi wrestles, to how quickly Poi will make a mistake and lose the match.

 

Match Overview:

The match kicks off with a brutal slap exchange which reverberates around the arena and leaves huge red hand marks on each women’s cheeks.

 

Natsupoi more than holds her own which surprises Thekla, until Thekla locks in a Boston Crab in the centre of the ring. Natsupoi endures the pain to crawl towards the bottom rope, yelling out as the hold is deepened by the champion.

 

Just as her pinkie from her outstretched right arm touches the bottom rope, referee Daichi kicks the bottom rope, unsatisfied that Natsupoi has a firm enough grip, resulting in Thekla dragging her to the middle of the ring and wrenching it in deeper.

 

The DDM Fairy refuses to give in, fighting with all her might to reach that bottom rope once again, which eventually she succeeds by grabbing it with both hands. Tekla waits for the count of 4 before booting her in the midsection, kicking the wind right out of Poi’s sails. Thekla finally locks in a brutal looking Death Strap Lock, which Natsupoi eventually passes out to.

Attempting to put the noise of her faction’s implosion aside for the next potentially 30 minutes, Mayu welcomes the opportunity to battle her former faction mate here for the red belt.

 

KAIRI:

KAIRI has been so impressed with how Mayu carried herself / STARDOM since her departure. She still wants to demonstrate the skills she has learnt since leaving and wants to put on a spectacle for her World of STARDOM title belt once again.

 

Match Overview:

The electric atmosphere was masterfully managed by these two performers, who put on an absolute spectacle.

 

Whilst Mayu’s kicks were delivered with a little extra force then expected, KAIRI’s spinning backfist connects at the second time of asking, leading to both ladies rocking each other at the right times, to get the crowd hooked in, then tricked with a dramatic late kick out.

 

An Insane Elbow is caught and rolled through allowing Mayu to hit her signature pop up kick to the side of the head. As Mayu staggers up and hits a desperation Moonsault, KAIRI somehow kicks out with an unknown power. A successfully delivered Insane Elbow finally puts away Mayu resulting in another successful defence in a hellacious bout!

AZM refuses to reflect back on the history between her and Momo, as sharing it hurts too much, she is just looking forward to finally and firmly surpassing her former friend.

 

Momo Watanabe:

Momo is peak cockiness as the 5STAR and Wonder of STARDOM champion, questioning where her personal dressing room is and questioning the nerve of AZM for finally choosing to redeem her Cinderella wish tonight.

 

Match Overview:

Epic entrances are on display as AZM enters first, popping up Rey Mysterio style out of the stage, in a classic QQ, old school mask! This compared to Momo entering by being carried on a dark throne, being carried by Oedo Tai dressed as rotting zombie peasants, as she wears a dark version of her 5STAR crown, cape and sceptre, with special ring gear adorned by both this contest gets underway.

 

A perfectly slow built contest combined with slick reversals and near falls leads to a high quality affair.

 

After Oedo Tai manage to fend off QQ and Miyu Amasaki, they take out the ref before passing Momo a chair. Momo refuses to use it, so Starlight Kid picks it up and smashes AZM in the back. Momo helps AZM up, who AZM Sushi’s her for 2! Momo ultimately puts AZM down for the three and retains her white belt.

- Thekla has a strong connection with the young female demographic who really liked her winning … urm I think we’ll need to pipe in Thekla’s crowd reaction for Natsupoi, as I guess everyone loves a villain!

 

- The World title match had superb wrestling and great heat … might have made a huge mistake but hopefully people came for that match then thought what could possibly main-event above that, then we hook them in that way!

 

- Momo vs KAIRI in a winner take all match, not a unification but finding out who will end the year as a double champion will be interesting to see!

Prominence Invaded!

 

 

Top news coming out of Japanese death match promotion Prominence is that their top Hardcore champion Suzu Suzuki was jumped after her successful defence!

 

The red hooded figures revealed themselves to be non-other than DDM’s Syuri & Maika! The pair used the element of surprise to beatdown the challenger Risa Sera & champion Suzuki, before escaping through the crowd.

 

At the time of writing the DDM pair have yet to justify their actions but whether its pay back for costing DDM leader Giulia the 5STAR or payback for assaults aimed at them throughout the year, all the signs are pointing to an explosive end to this year!

Even the game says I used Unagi & Mina too much but after an awful 5STAR display and Unagi my original Cinderella winner before plans changed, they needed this win the most.

I completely agree, especially how weakly I've booked them this year in this universe, (Due to Waka's losing arc / such a strong roster around them).

 

In real life, I couldn't understand why she was treated like a huge challenge last year when she was still learning / competing for the future of Stardom title, it felt like she was pushed too hard way to soon. Alongside the constant title shots for White / Tag belts and calling out KAIRI, you can tell they are desperate to give her a tournament or title!

 

So combined with the photo books her and Mina would sell in real life, I wouldn't be surprised if they won the Goddess of Stardom tag league in real life.

 

My logic for this diary win was Tam giving them the strongest motivation to give their all / a little Tam help in match 2 to get the job done!

 

STARDOM have proven they will bullishly push talent despite fans think and I do trust the process!

 

After fans called for Mayu Iwatani to quit during her first year, She would have never been able to become the Icon. Then recently Giulia took a lot of negativity about her exit / push right out of the gate but they stuck with her and now she's poised to takeover!

 

So thanks to Mayu trailblazing, I'll always let it play out in real life. Whilst I couldn't stand Unagi in the beginning, now I could never imagine her winning the red or white belt, but tag or any other, sure!
