Between COVID affecting the company both foreign and domestically and AEW essentially replacing NJPW as the second biggest promotion in America, things have been on the downturn. However with the pandemic slowing down, New Japan-Pro Wrestling is ready to more than make up for lost time. Can they do it? Let’s find out! (OOC: Howdy y'all! If you're new here, then hello, I'm Uncrewed! I've been writing on the GDS forums since 2015 or so and have written a bunch of dynasties, most notably WWF 1994: Turning the Tide back in TEW 2016. Recently, I've written an AEW dynasty (which died due to a faulty hard drive) and an NXT dynasty (which I got burnt out on). But now we're back and ready to dive headfirst into the world of New Japan Pro-Wrestling!) (Also for those wondering, there will be no Kota Ibushi in this dynasty for, well, obvious reasons if you've been paying attention to what he's been saying recently. Anyway, here's a quick recap of what happened at Wrestling Dontaku: NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2022- May 1st, 2022: Live From: Fukuoka PayDome -Shingo Takagi, BUSHI, & their mystery partner (AEW's Darby Allin) defeated Suzuki-gun (Zack Sabre Jr., Taichi, & TAKA Michinoku) in a pretty fun match after Allin hit Michinoku with the Coffin Drop (Reverse Diving Senton) -Hiromu Takahashi defeated YOH in a very fast-paced match. The former Roppongi 3K member came close to defeating the multi-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion on multiple occasions, but Takahashi finished him off with the Time Bomb (Emerald Flowsion) in just about 15 minutes. -The "Tokyo Pimp" Yujiro Takahashi defeated Tanga Loa in a middling match after hitting him with his cane and hitting him with the Tokyo Pimps (Back-to-Belly Piledriver) -Six or Nine defeated Suzuki-gun's Yoshinobu Kanemaru & DOUKI to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships in a hard-hitting affair -The Best of Super Juniors 29 blocks were announced. The 16 best Junior Heavyweights in the world will square off starting in just two weeks! -United Empire's Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan successfully retained their IWGP Tag Team Championships by defeating CHAOS's Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI and Bullet Club's Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens in a decent match. -After the match, Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima made their way down to the ring. After questioning how much time they had left in the ring, they challenged Cobb & Khan to an IWGP Tag Team Title match for Dominion! If Tencozy wins, they'll become a record-tying seven time champions! -Tama Tonga defeated EVIL to become the new NEVER Openweight Championship. At multiple points in the match it looked like Tama would win, but EVIL's manager Dick Togo kept interfering. That was until referee Red Shoes threw him out! That allowed Tama to hit EVIL with the Gun Stun (Jumping Cutter) and win to become the 36th NEVER Openweight Champion. -Suzuki-gun's El Desperado defeated Bullet Club's Taiji Ishimori to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. This match was a definite contender for match of the night and there were points where it looked like Ishimori would dethrone the champion. However, Desperado managed to pull through and hit Ishimori with the Pinche Loco (Spinning Doublearm Facebuster) to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. -In a hard-hitting affair for the IWGP United States Championship, Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Tomohiro Ishii to claim the vacant title for the 3rd time. These two took each other to task, laying into each other with several nasty chops, smashes, and other moves. In the end, Tanahashi was able to hit the High Fly Flow (Frog Splash) and defeat Ishii after nearly 20 minutes. -After the match was over, United Empire leader Will Ospreay appeared on the screen. Ospreay said that while he may be out now thanks to COVID, he'll be 100% for Dominion and he wants what he was originally promised to him, an IWGP United States Championship match against Hiroshi Tanahashi! Tanahashi accepts the proposal and tells Ospreay to bring it on! -In an amazing match, Kazuchika Okada defeated Tetsuya Naito to retain the IWGP World Championship. Both men took each other to their limit, hell Naito even almost won it at one point after hitting Okada with his old finisher, the Stardust Press (Corkscrew Moonsault). In the end, Okada won after reversing Naito's Destino (Somersault Reverse DDT) into the Rainmaker (Ripcord Lariat)!!! -After the match, Okada celebrated his victory until the lights went out. After a pregnant pause, Jay White appeared in the ring and attacked Okada! The Bullet Club leader beat the living hell out of Okada before finishing him off with the Blade Runner (Swinging Reverse STO). Uncrewed Posted May 17, 2022 Author Share Posted May 17, 2022 NJPW Best of Super Juniors 2022 Night One- May 15th, 2022 Attendance: 1,304 at Nagoya Congress Center (Nagoya, Japan) Commentary Team: Shinpei Nogami, Milano Collection AT, & Jushin Thunder Liger -Suzuki-gun's Taichi, DOUKI, & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated the young lion trio of Ryohei Oiwa, Kosei Fujita, and Yuto Nakashima after Taichi hit Nakashima with the Taichi-style Last Ride (Elevated Powerbomb) in just under 10 minutes. (56/C) -BOSJ Block A Match: Ricky Starks defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in just under 10 minutes after interference from Powerhouse Hobbs (who the crowd really likes) and a devastating Roshambo (Sitout Dominator). (60/C) -BOSJ Block B Match: Darby Allin defeated Master Wato in a decent match after hitting him with the Coffin Drop in 12 minutes. (53/C-) -BOSJ Block A Match: YOH defeated Ace Austin in a decent match after making him tap to the Stargazer (Rolling Calf Slicer) in about 10 minutes. (64/C) -BOSJ Block B Match: SHO defeated Wheeler Yuta in a really good match that showed why both of these men are probably two of the brightest prospects in all of pro wrestling. Yuta tried finishing the match off by locking in the Yuta Lock (Muta Lock), but Dick Togo interfered! His interference allowed SHO to kick Yuta below the belt and hit him with the Shock Arrow (Double Pumphandle Piledriver) and get the three in just under 13 minutes. (72/B-) -BOSJ Block A Match: Ryu Lee defeated Francesco Akira in a match that stole the show. Lee, making his first appearance in NJPW in nearly two years, was pushed to his limit by the newest Junior Heavyweight in Francesco Akira. In the end, Lee's experience proved decisive, as he finished off Akira in just over 15 minutes after hitting him with the Desnucadora (Vertical Suplex Powerbomb). (77/B) -BOSJ Block B Match: Taiji Ishimori defeated Bandido in a great match in 15 minutes. Bandido, making his second BOSJ appearance, took the multi-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion to his limit, but Ishimori pulled it out in the end when he hit Bandido with the Bloody Cross (Lifting Double Knee Gutbuster). (75/B-) -BOSJ Block B Match: Hiromu Takahashi defeated Robbie Eagles in the penultimate match of the night. Eagles put up a valiant effort, but it wasn't enough to defeat the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Hiromu ultimately finished off Eagles by hitting him with the Time Bomb in just under 17 minutes. (82/B) MAIN EVENT: VS Block A Match: El Desperado vs BUSHI BUSHI surprisingly defeated El Desperado in the main event of the evening. The match came to an end after nearly 20 minutes of hard-fought action. Desperado tried hitting BUSHI with the Pinche Loco, but BUSHI reversed it into a sunset flip into a surprise three count! With the win, BUSHI scored his first ever singles win over El Desperado, who had beaten him in the BOSJ three times before this. Starks finished off Akira with the Roshambo after catching Akira while he was attempting a moonsault. (67/C+) -BOSJ Block A Match: El Desperado defeated YOH in a great match, bouncing back from his loss to BUSHI two nights ago. After about 16 minutes of hard-hitting action, YOH tried to lock El Desperado in the Stargazer, but Despy wiggled out of it and hit YOH with the Pinche Loco to get his first win of the tournament. (76/B-) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block A Match: Ryu Lee vs BUSHI Ryu Lee defeated BUSHI in the main event of the evening. In what turned out to be a great match, Lee caught BUSHI when he attempted his finisher, the MX (Diving Double Knee Facebreaker) and reversed it into a package powerbomb! Lee then hit BUSHI with the Desnucadora and pinned him for the three. With his win, Lee moves into a tie for first place in Block A with Ricky Starks, who he will fight in a few nights! Akira finished off Oiwa in just under eight minutes after hitting him with the Akira Sault (Shiranui). (54/C-) -Bullet Club's El Phantasmo & Chase Owens defeated young lions Kosei Fujita & Yuto Nakashima in a decent match after Phantasmo hit Fujita with the Sudden Death (Superkick) in just under eight minutes. (53/C-) -BOSJ Block B Match: Wheeler Yuta defeated Robbie Eagles in a pretty decent match to earn his first points of the tournament. Yuta finished off Eagles in just under 13 minutes after making him tap to the Yuta Lock. (68/C+) -BOSJ Block B Match: Taiji Ishimori defeated Darby Allin in a fast-paced affair. Allin's daredevil style ultimately came back to bite him when Ishimori caught his Coffin Drop and reversed it into a big German suplex. Ishimori then hit Allin with the Bloody Cross and got the win. (67/C+) -BOSJ Block B Match: SHO defeated Bandido in a great match. The match ultimately came to an end after over 15 minutes of fast-paced action. Bandido tried to hit SHO with a Phoenix Splash, but SHO got his knees up at the last second. SHO then hit Bandido with the Shock Arrow to get the win. (76/B-) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block B Match: Hiromu Takahashi vs Master Wato Hiromu Takahashi defeated Master Wato in the main event of the evening. The young Wato took Hiromu to the limit on multiple occasions, nearly getting the win a few times. Wato even hit Hiromu with the RPP at one point! However, Hiromu was able to kick out of it and eventually hit Wato with the Time Bomb to secure the win. Nakashima was completely dominated by Phantasmo, who finished off Nakashima in just under eight minutes after hitting him with the Sudden Death. (60/C) -Flying Tiger defeated young lions Ryohei Oiwa & Kosei Fujita in a drab match after Eagles hit Fujita with the Turbo Backpack (Backpack Stunner). (60/C) -BOSJ Block A Match: YOH defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in a decent match. After nearly 12 minutes of hard-fought action, Taguchi tried hitting YOH with a flying hip attack, but was caught with a German suplex from YOH! YOH then locked in the Stargazer and made Taguchi tap. (67/C+) -BOSJ Block A Match: BUSHI defeated Ace Austin in a good match. After about 13 minutes of back and forth action, Austin tried to cheat by hitting BUSHI with his cane! However, BUSHI ducked it and hit Austin with a hurricanrana! BUSHI then hit Austin with the MX and got the three. (74/B-) -BOSJ Block A Match: El Desperado defeated Francesco Akira in a decent match in the penultimate fight of the evening. The young Akira almost took down the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion on multiple occasions, but Despy used his experience to his advantage and finished off Akira in just over 15 minutes after hitting him with the Pinche Loco. (62/C) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block A Match: Ryu Lee vs Ricky Starks Ryu Lee defeated Ricky Starks in a good match in the main event of the evening. Lee attempted to finish this one off early with the Desnucadora, but was tripped up by Powerhouse Hobbs. Lee then took out Hobbs with a suicide dive! When Lee got back in the ring, Starks tried surprising him with a spear, but Lee jumped out of the way, letting Starks hit his head on the turnbuckle! One Desnucadora later, it was all over for "Absolute" Ricky Starks. With the win, Lee takes sole possession of first place in Block A. (60/C) -BOSJ Block B Match: Darby Allin defeated Wheeler Yuta in a good match. This match was a bit chaotic, with Yuta constantly trying to get Allin to wrestle a bit more of a mat-based match, but Allin had none of it, as he constantly went after Yuta with a plethora of high-flying moves. In the end, Allin finished off Yuta with the Coffin Drop in just under 13 minutes. (73/B-) -BOSJ Block B Match: Bandido defeated Master Wato in a great match. In a battle between two of the brightest stars (or in Wato's case, future star) in junior heavyweight wrestling, Bandido was able to defeat Master Wato in just under 14 minutes after hitting him with the 21 Plex (Legspring Catching German Suplex). (80/B) -BOSJ Block B Match: SHO defeated Robbie Eagles in a great match in the penultimate contest of the evening. Eagles had a few moments where he had the advantage, but the current Bullet Club member easily had control over the ex-Bullet Club member for most of the match. SHO eventually finished off Eagles by hitting him with the Shock Arrow in just under 15 minutes. (82/B) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block B Match: Hiromu Takahashi vs Taiji Ishimori Hiromu Takahashi and Taiji Ishimori went to a time limit draw in a great match to end the night. The two men who have arguably been the two best junior heavyweights in NJPW in the last five years put on a hell of a match. After nearly 30 minutes of hard-fought, faced-paced action, neither man could get the advantage over the other. That was until Hiromu caught a diving crossbody from Ishimori, reversing it into the Time Bomb! Hiromu tried pinning Taiji, but by the time he was able to make the cover, the time limit had already expired. "BREAKING NEWS: HIROYOSHI TENZAN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT" The legendary Hiroyoshi Tenzan officially announced he would be retiring in three months today. In an emotional press conference held before NJPW's Best of Super Juniors Night Six event, Tenzan cited a plethora of in-ring injuries (most recently a knee injury) that have slowed him down as his main reason for retiring. Tenzan finished his press conference by saying that he would go out on top with his best friend Satoshi Kojima as IWGP Tag Team Champions, promising to win the gold at Dominion! Uncrewed Posted May 20, 2022 Author Share Posted May 20, 2022 NJPW Best of Super Juniors 2022 Night Six- May 24th, 2022 Attendance: 2,005 at Korakuen Hall (Tokyo, Japan) Commentary Team: Shinpei Nogami, Milano Collection AT, & Jushin Thunder Liger -Bullet Club's El Phantasmo, SHO, & Taiji Ishimori defeated young lions Kosei Fujita, *Ryohei Oiwa, and Yuto Nakashima in a decent match. Bullet Club completely dominated the match, but there was a little bit of tension at the end. Ishimori had just hit Nakashima with the Bloody Cross and went for the pin, but SHO tagged himself in and got the pin for himself. The two argued and nearly came to blows, but Phantasmo stepped in before anything got too serious. (69/C+) -BOSJ Block A Match: Francesco Akira defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in a decent match. The match didn't last that long (only about 12 minutes), but Akira was able to out-wrestle the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion at nearly every corner. In the end, Akira hit Taguchi with the Akira Sault to get the win. (61/C) -BOSJ Block A Match: El Desperado defeated Ricky Starks in a good match. After nearly 16 minutes of very fast-paced that saw Starks nearly get the best of the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion on multiple occasions, Despy reversed the Roshambo from Starks into the Pinche Loco! Desperado got the three and is now in second place in Block A. (76/B) -BOSJ Block A Match: Ryu Lee defeated Ace Austin in a good match. Austin kept trying to cheat against the current leader in the Block A standings, but Lee was always one step ahead of the youngster. The match came to an end when Austin tried hitting Lee with his cane, but Lee ducked it and hit Austin with a superkick! Lee then hit the Desnucadora and it was all over for the IMPACT X-Division Champion. (78/B) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block A Match: YOH vs BUSHI YOH defeated BUSHI in a good match to end the evening. The two went back and forth for nearly 20 minutes but it all came to an end when BUSHI hit YOH with the MX. However, YOH got his foot on the rope at the very last second! While BUSHI was arguing with referee Red Shoes, YOH clipped his leg (which he had been working on the entire match) and locked in the Stargazer to get the submission win. DOUKI finished off Fujita in just under 10 minutes after hitting him with the Suplex de la Luna. (59/C) -BOSJ Block B Match: Master Wato defeated Robbie Eagles in a good match. The two bottom-of-the-block junior heavyweights gave it their all in nearly 14 minutes of action. In the end, Wato finished off Eagles after hitting him with the RPP, earning himself his first two points of the tournament. (74/B-) -BOSJ Block B Match: Bandido defeated Wheeler Yuta in a good match. Yuta did his best to bring the high flying-Bandido down, but it ultimately wasn't enough in the end. Bandido finished off Yuta after 15 minutes of hard-fought action, finishing him off with the 21 Plex. (80/B) -BOSJ Block B Match: Hiromu Takahashi defeated Darby Allin in a good match. This was arguably the most chaotic match in Best of Super Juniors history, with Allin and Hiromu essentially using their bodies as ragdolls to take out the other. Hell, Allin even leapt off the balcony of Korakuen Hall at one point to take out Hiromu! In the end, Darby attempted the Coffin Drop, but Hiromu caught him and hit him with a nasty-looking Time Bomb to get the three! (80/B) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block B Match: SHO vs Taiji Ishimori SHO defeated Taiji Ishimori in a good match to close out the show. The two Bullet Club members beat the living hell out of each other, with both men setting out to prove that they were the ace Junior Heavyweight of Bullet Club. Ishimori got the upper hand at multiple points, even coming close to hitting SHO with the Bloody Cross! However, SHO was able to reverse it into a tornado DDT. SHO then picked up Ishimori and hit him with the Shock Arrow to get the three. The two men continued arguing after the bell, but were stopped by Gedo, who calmed things down, ending the show with the three Bullet Club members sharing a Too Sweet in the ring (although Ishimori was still staring daggers through SHO the entire time). Speaking of Akira, he got the win after about 12 minutes when he hit Austin with the Akira Sault. (72/B-) -BOSJ Block A Match: El Desperado defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in a good match. Taguchi tried his best against the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, but Despy seemed like he had Taguchi's number the entire time. He eventually finished off Taguchi after about 14 minutes when he hit him with the Pinche Loco. (74/B-) -BOSJ Block A Match: Ricky Starks defeated BUSHI in a good match. BUSHI and Starks went back and forth for nearly 15 minutes, but one trip up from Powerhouse Hobbs is all it took for Starks to get the upper hand. Starks finished off BUSHI with the Roshambo shortly thereafter to get his third win of the tournament. (78/B) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block A Match: YOH vs Ryu Lee YOH defeated Ryu Lee in a great match to close out the show. Lee had dominated most of the match, but near the end YOH got a second wind, countering Lee at every corner. The match eventually came to an end when Lee went to hit YOH with the Desnucadora, but YOH rolled through and locked him in the Stargazer! Lee had no choice but to tap, giving the win to YOH and making a three-way tie for first place in Block A with him, YOH, and El Desperado. Austin completely dominated Oiwa, finishing him off in just under eight minutes after hitting him with The Fold. (61/C) -DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated young lions Yuto Nakashima & Kosei Fujita in a glorified squash match. DOUKI eventually finished off Fujita in just under nine minutes after hitting him with the Suplex de la Luna. (59/C) -BOSJ Block B Match: Wheeler Yuta defeated Master Wato in a decent match. These two young Junior Heavyweights put on a really good showcase in technical wrestling, but in the end, Yuta finished off Wato with the Yuta Lock in just under 13 minutes. (74/B-) -BOSJ Block B Match: Taiji Ishimori defeated Robbie Eagles in a good match. Ishimori had the former Bullet Club member's number for most of the match, but Eagles did have his moments, especially near the end. After about 15 minutes, Eagles tried to hit Ishimori with the Turbo Backpack, but Ishimori reversed it into a swinging neckbreaker. One Bloody Cross from Ishimori later and it was all over. (79/B) -BOSJ Block B Match: Bandido defeated Darby Allin in a good match. This was another really chaotic, high-flying affair, with Allin and Bandido giving it their all for nearly 17 minutes. In the end, Bandido was able to hit Darby with the 21 Plex to get the win. (80/B) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block B Match: SHO vs Hiromu Takahashi SHO defeated Hiromu Takahashi in a good match to close the show. These two men tore into each other for nearly 20 minutes, but Hiromu had the upper hand going into the final few minutes. Takahashi went to hit SHO with the Time Bomb, but Dick Togo tripped him up! While referee Red Shoes was busy ejecting Togo, SHO kicked Hiromu below the belt! SHO then hit Hiromu with the Shock Arrow and got the three. The two Bullet Club members completely dominated Nakashima & Fujita, with Ishimori finishing off Fujita in just under eight minutes after hitting him with the Bloody Cross. (66/C+) -SHO defeated young lion Ryohei Oiwa in a decent match. SHO completely dominated Oiwa, defeating him in just under eight minutes after hitting him with the Shock Arrow. (70/C+) -BOSJ Block A Match: Ricky Starks defeated Ace Austin in a decent match. Starks needed a win here to keep his slim chances at winning Block A alive and he got that here. After about 13 minutes, Starks defeated Austin by catching Austin when he attempted The Fold and hit him with the Roshambo. (69/C+) -BOSJ Block A Match: BUSHI defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in a good match. Taguchi was looking for his first points of the tournament, but he just couldn't outmatch the Los Ingobernables de Japon member. BUSHI finished off Taguchi in just under 14 minutes after hitting him with the MX. (70/C+) -BOSJ Block A Match: YOH defeated Francesco Akira in a good match. YOH needed a win here to keep his hopes of winning Block A alive and he put in a hell of an effort because of it. Akira got the upper hand on a couple of ocassions, but YOH always seemed to be one step ahead of the Italian. He eventually finished off Akira in about 15 minutes after making him tap to the Stargazer. (75/B-) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block A Match: El Desperado vs Ryu Lee El Desperado defeated Ryu Lee in a good match in the main event of the evening. Going into the match, both men were tied for second place and a win would vault them into a tie for first with YOH, which would be huge for Despy (who had a tiebreaker win over him). As a result, these two tore into each other, beating the living hell out of each other for nearly 20 minutes. However it all came to an end when Desperado reversed a hurricanrana from Lee into a big sitout powerbomb! One Pinche Loco later and it was all over for Ryu Lee. Lee, Tiger Mask, and Taguchi completely dominated this match, with Lee finishing off Nakashima in just under eight minutes after hitting him with the Desnucadora. (61/C) -Francesco Akira & Aaron Henare defeated Yoshinobu Kanemaru & DOUKI in a decent match. Akira finished off DOUKI in just under 11 minutes after hitting him with the Akira Sault. (71/C+) -BOSJ Block B Match: Darby Allin defeated Robbie Eagles in a decent match. Eagles and Darby tore into each other for nearly 13 minutes, but in the end, Allin won with the Coffin Drop. (73/B-) -BOSJ Block B Match: Taiji Ishimori defeated Wheeler Yuta in a good match. Ishimori needed a win to stay alive in Block B and he got it despite a good effort from Yuta. After 15 minutes of back and forth action, Ishimori finished off Yuta with the Bloody Cross. (78/B) -BOSJ Block B Match: Master Wato defeated SHO in a good match. SHO had the opportunity to clinch a spot in the Best of Super Juniors finals, but Wato surprisingly got the win. SHO controlled most of the match, but he might have gotten too cocky in the end. The match came to an end when SHO went to attempt the Shock Arrow, but instead decided to toy with Wato. That allowed Wato to catch SHO with a small package and get the three! (78/B) MAIN EVENT: VS BOSJ Block B Match: Hiromu Takahashi vs Bandido Hiromu Takahashi defeated Bandido in an amazing match to end the night. This was an insane match, with both men damn near flying around the ring with a wide variety of flashy moves. In the end, Hiromu was able to reverse a 21 Plex from Bandido into the Time Bomb, giving him the win and keeping his hopes of a third straight Best of Super Juniors win alive. GRADE: FINAL GRADE: Post-Night 11 Standings: (We've got an interesting final night of action coming up tomorrow.
