Notes

- Thiago Santos proved the oddsmakers wrong as he TKO:ed the -220 favorite Jamahal Hill inside the first round. The +260 underdog has been the underdog in three out of his four recent bouts, with the only exception being his 2021 bout against Johnny Walker.

- Geoff Neal became the first fighter in history to knock out Vicente Luque. The Brazilian was later rushed to the hospital with several injuries, and has received a five months medical suspension as a result of the bout.

- Neal also called out the former title challenger Jorge Masvidal in his post-fight interview.

- Augusto Sakai and Misha Cirkunov suffered their fourth straight losses, but they’re yet to be released by the organization. Both fighters have two fights left on their respective contracts.

- Terrance McKinney earned his first official POTN-bonus when he finished Erick Gonzalez in the first round, just like he usually does. He then called out the dividing albeit charismatic Paddy Pimblett for a showdown in December.

- Both Luque vs. Neal and Moroz vs. Eubanks provided a fantastic match result.

- This was the first event for the UFC since the departure/retirement for the now former UFC President Dana White. The duo of Jon Anik and Hunter Campbell has officially absorbed the work duties that Dana previously had.

- Sam Alvey (10-13-1 UFC) and Erick Gonzalez (0-2 UFC) was released after the show, while Takashi Sato (2-4) opted to sign for UAE Warriors over re-signing with UFC.

Notes

- Dominick Cruz was victorious in the main event after a masterful display against Marlon Vera. After the fight, he called out his former foe T.J. Dillashaw for a scrap for the title, once (not if) Dillashaw defeats the current champ Aljamain Sterling. With the first bout ending in a highly debated Split Decision victory for Cruz, the rematch is six years in the making.

- Edmen Shahbazyan’s move to AKA to train with the likes of Cormier, Khabib, Rockhold, and so on proved successful as he snapped his three-fight losing streak, defeating Ian Heinisch with a head kick to strikes-combo. The 24-year-old was very thankful for his new head coach Javier Mendes and the rest of the team, saying that it’s was the best career move he has made.

- Devin Clark defeated the then undefeated Azamat Murzakanov, ending his winning streak at 12-0. The Russian has said that his intentions is to move down to Middleweight to better utilize his size.

- Alexa Grasso defeated Viviane Araujo in decisive fashion, calling out the champion Valentina Shevchenko after the bout.

- Cub Swanson was defeated by the undefeated Lerone Murphy in the main card opener. Swanson announced later that this was his last fight in the Featherweight division, as he intends to go down to Bantamweight for his next fight.

- Lerone Murphy announced on social media after the fight that he’s decided to take some time of from MMA to get surgery for a number of different injuries and to fully heal up before he returns again. No time period for his return has been made official.

- The 27-year-old Aspen Ladd suffered her third straight loss against Sara McMann. Once heralded as the next big thing in the Women's 135lbs, Ladd is currently in a severe slump and her next bout is undoubtedly her most important one to date.

- Gerald Meerschaert’s, Sara McMann’s and Nina Nunes’ contracts ended after the show. The trio later resigned with the company.

- Yazmin Jauregui was successful in her UFC-debut, defeating Istela Nunes via TKO in the third round. This was Istela’s third straight loss in the UFC, which led to her release.

Notes

- Despite his big +380 underdog status heading into the fight, Tai Tuivasa shocked not only the Paris crowd but the entire MMA landscape when he brutally knocked out the former title challenger Ciryl Gane early in the first round. Tuivasa celebrated with a shoey afterwards, calling for a title shot against the champ Francis Ngannou.

- Gane was out completely for a while, not participating in Bruce Buffer’s post fight announcement. It was later confirmed that Gane had suffered a broken nose and a severe concussion, which will require some time off for the 31-year-old Frenchman.

- It was the night of underdogs in the high-profile bouts as Marvin Vettori became the first man not named Israel Adesanya to defeat the former champion Robert Whittaker in the Middleweight division. Vettori unsurprisingly called out the champion for a trilogy bout.

- Manon Fiorot continued her rise to prominence as she finished the former title challenger Katlyn Chookagian in the second round. Jon Anik confirmed on the post-fight presser that they’re working on Shevchenko vs. Fiorot for the UFC Women’s Flyweight strap next, but nothing had yet been finalized.

- In perhaps the most anticipated bout for all the hardcore fans, Makhmud Muradov and the debuting Abudupiyan Magomedov delivered an insanely high-level fight with many back and forth moments before Magomedov finished Muradov with a body kick and strikes. Without any real competition, this was the clear-cut Fight of the Night.

- Ilir Latifi suffered his second loss at Heavyweight when he was knocked out by Marcos Rogerio de Lima. The 39-year-old Swede announced on social media that he will return to the Light Heavyweight division for the next bout, as well as for the rest of his career. He’s currently 1-4 in his five last bouts with the company.

- Roman Kopylov suffered his third straight loss in his third UFC-bout, losing to the Italian veteran Alessio Di Chirico. He was subsequently released following the event. Victoria Leonardo, who lost to Mandy Böhm, also suffered the same fate as she also lost her third straight bout in the company.

- The highly touted prospect Daniel Zellhuber, a DWCS alumni, was successful in his UFC-debut, submitting Trey Ogden in the first round with a slick Kimura.

Notes

- In what many predicted would be the hardest challenge for Usman, the 35-year-old completely dominated Leon Edwards and scored 50-44 on two judges’ scorecards. This was Usman’s 16th straight UFC-win, which ties him with Anderson Silva in the “Longest UFC Win Streak”-column.

- José Aldo made the Comeback of the Year when he finished Merab Dvalishvili with leg kicks in the third round, after he repeatedly got taken down as well as being completely dominated for the first two rounds. Dvalishvili outstruck Aldo and had a control time of over 4 minutes, but would succumb to the lethal leg kicks from the former Featherweight Champion.

- Aldo, through his translator, campaigned for him to be the next challenger for the 135lbs strap, saying that it doesn’t matter who wins in the upcoming title bout between Aljamain Sterling and T.J. Dillashaw because he will add another accomplishment to his unprecedented legacy.

- Luke Rockhold overcame his +285 underdog status when he executed a perfect game plan, using his superior BJJ-skills and utilizing distance striking against the struggling Paulo Costa. The former champion looked better than ever, entering at number 6 in the Middleweight rankings after four and a half year away from the division.

- Paulo Costa suffered his third straight loss and questions has risen about his future, with many fans and experts alike proposing a permanent move up to 205lbs for “Borrachina” as his next move.

- Miranda Maverick executed the rare Anaconda Choke when she submitted Shanna Young inside the first round. This is certainly a contender for Submission of the Year, and it earned a clear Performance of the Night-bonus for the 25-year-old.

- Harry Hunsucker had a rough weekend, to say the least. Firstly, he missed weight by astonishing 10lbs. Secondly, he was brutally knocked out by Tyson Pedro in the second round which earned Pedro a Performance of the Night-bonus. Thirdly, he was subsequently released from his UFC-contract following three straight losses. Tough luck, Mr. Hunsucker.

- Lucie Pudilova was successful in her UFC-return, as she dominated Yanan Wu in a crystal-clear Unanimous Decision victory. With a record of 1-5, Wu was also released from her UFC-contract following the bout.

Notes

- Holy moly, people! What a main event we just witnessed. The Sandhagen – Song bout was an intense war which saw Song being almost knocked out on multiple occasions, with Sandhagen looking like a future champion that can beat anyone on the planet. It’s a potential Fight of the Year-candidate, no questions about it.

- Sandhagen also took the time during his post-fight interview to call for a fight against José Aldo to determine the number one contender for the 135lbs title. If that fight doesn’t make your mouth water, you’re not a friend of mine.

- Sodiq Yusuff upset the -200 favorite Giga Chikadze with a superb showing, earning the UD victory. This was the best performance of Yusuff’s career as he inserts himself in the top ten, with many potential bouts being discussed for the Nigerian.

- Mohammed Usman dominated Zac Pauga to earn the clear Unanimous Decision, a victory that earned him the distinction of being the Heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter 30. Both him and his brother Kamaru is now historic as the first siblings to win the show.

- Brogan Walker-Sanchez defeated Juliana Miller via Unanimous Decision to become the Women’s Flyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter 30.

- Neither Zac Pauga or Juliana Miller did enough to earn a contract with the UFC following their respective loss.

- During the broadcast, color commentator John Gooden confirmed that the show will return next year for a new season. There are no words yet on which the two coaches will be, but rumors says that it will be a pairing of two Lightweights.

- The biggest underdog victory of the night took place when Rodrigo Nascimento submitted Tanner Boser. Nascimento was a +320 underdog heading into the bout, securing a Rear Naked Choke in the first round. Nascimento also took home one of two Performance of the Night-bonuses.

- Shane Young TKO:d Luis Saldana inside the first round, which would’ve earned him a Performance of the Night-bonus had he not missed weight. Tough luck for the 29-year-old, but hopefully he’ll learn from the mistake.

- Thankfully for the main event, the fans left the arena relatively happy and entertained, but with nine decisions out of twelve fights, the entertainment value was really questionable with Fili vs. Vannata being the only other fight delivering a great bout for the fans.

Bonus Awards

Fight of the Night: Cory Sandhagen vs. Yadong Song

Performance of the Night: Rodrigo Nascimento, Trevin Giles

Ranking Changes: Yadong Song -1 BW, Sodiq Yusuff +2 FW, Giga Chikadze -2 FW
