A lot of people have some bad things to say about him in terms of how he is a politician and how he uses his relationship with the boss’s daughter to his advantage, but how can you really say anything unless you were there? Hunter played this business and made it his own. He was on the lower end of the totem pole, the bottom of the food chain if you will, but played everyone so perfectly that he is now in the top spot. Weather of not he holds the WWE Title he is in the top spot. Hunter will go down in history along with names like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and others. JS – So you respect him? MB – I respect what he’s done and nothing else. I don’t know that man enough to respect him. All I know is that he was smart enough to take what he wanted and keep it at all costs. JS – How do you feel about your current push here in TNA? Is their anything you would change about it? MB – If you would have asked me that a few months ago I would have said yes. For the longest time here in TNA I was never given a chance to run with the ball. It was handed to me, but (pardon the metaphor) once I started to run with it they took me out of the game. For years I was used as the guy to get beaten in matches with big name guys. Jeff Jarrett needed a win, give him the Alpha Male. DDP needed to look strong, give him the Alpha Male. Now I know in this business those guys are needed, but that’s not where I wanted to be stuck for my career. I wanted a shot to show the world that I could be in that top spot. Now I am getting that chance. JS – Ever considered going to the WWE? MB – During the time when I was unhappy in TNA I actually had a few conversations with Vince McMahon. I sent him some tapes of my matches and mic work and he said he liked what he saw. I was this close Joey to signing a deal up north. But then this new head booker, Robert Nigro, comes to TNA and makes all these promise’s about getting my chance to shine and I knew where my loyalties lay. I started here in TNA and I had to give them another chance to use the talents that I have. The original plan (rumored to be so) was to have Aries and Strong to turn heel for this feud with AJ and Daniels and possibly run it to Bound For Glory 2. Now however they might keep Aries and Strong as a face team to feud with The Briscoe’s, continuing their long running feud from ROH. It will be interesting to see where TNA goes with this. TNA already has their eye on some workers from ROH to try and bring up to the main roster, the biggest being Colt Cabana. Gail Kim has been itching to get in the ring again and now is her chance. Nattie Neidhart wants to make the Hart family proud by winning this tournament. Both woman will be fighting there harts out, but only one will move on to the next round. Team 3D vs. The James Gang vs. AMW – These three teams have been at each others throats since the last PPV so Jim Cornette is letting them settle this once and for all. Matt Bentley vs. Sonjay Dutt – Last week Bentley made a challenge to Raven to a one on one match for No Surrender, and he considers this match a warm-up. However the Original Playa From The Himalayas is no pushover. Will Raven make an appearance? NWA World Tag Team Title / Ladder match The Naturals vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels – The first of two Title matches tonight sees the World Tag Team Champions putting the straps on the line against former champions, The Naturals, in a Ladder match. It has already been confirmed by TNA management that Austin Aries and Roderick Strong will still get a Title shot at No Surrender and it will be against the winners of this match. Shane Douglas has been training The Naturals hard for just this opportunity and now its time for them to show him what they have learned. AJ and Daniels have no plans to drop the belts yet, and they could very well be one of the greatest tag teams to ever hold those belts. A lot is a stake, who will come out wearing the most prestigious Tag Team Titles in wrestling? Chris Jericho vs. Konnan – During Chris Jericho’s match last week with Hernandez, he struck Konnan with an elbow to knock the leader of LAX down off the apron before he could interfere. Now Konnan wants revenge for Jericho putting his hands on him and is ready to step back in the ring to do so. Jericho has been getting beaten week in and week out by LAX, and this could be his opportunity to cut the kill the snake by cutting off its head. TNA X-Division Title match Bryan Danielson vs. Senshi © - The second Title being defended tonight sees Senshi put his belt on the line against rising superstar “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Just as in the Tag Title match, The Stallion will still be getting his X-Division Title shot at No Surrender; the only question is who will it be against? Bryan Danielson has been trying to gain a foothold since coming to TNA and has had some impressive victories. This will be his opportunity to prove to everyone how good he really is. Senshi has proven himself a warrior in the past and is undefeated in TNA so far. Will Danielson end that streak and take the X-Title? Hell In A Cell Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Scott Steiner vs. Sting – This was a fan made match back from a few months ago. However who could have foreseen the turn on Sting by former friend Christian Cage and now this match is nothing more than a 3 on 1 affair. The only thing left is to figure out who gets the pin on Sting. But are we counting the Stinger out? In the past Sting has overcome insurmountable odds at the hands of some of the wrestling worlds biggest groups, but can he do it again? All this and so much more on the very first show of TNA Independence. Where Athletes Compete and Entertainers Come To Get Beat!

I’m Joey Styles and joining me on this special night is none other than the head of TNA Management Jim Cornette. Jim. Jim Cornette (JC) – Yes thank you Joey and your right it is a special night, it’s the premiere of the new TNA show right here on our home network Spike TV, TNA Independence. I’m joining you at ringside tonight Joey for one reason, and that’s to make sure guys like The Rock and Jeff Jarrett don’t run amuck and mess up the whole show. We are gonna have a good old fashion wrestling show without all the malarkey and talking that some other so called wrestling shows have and we gonna get down to business right now with this next match in the NWA Woman’s World Title tournament. JS – Right you are Jim, and wrestling there will be when in the main event, that structure hanging above us will descend and cover the entire ring with Jeff Jarrett, Christian Cage, Scott Steiner and Sting. One has to think Jim that Sting has an uphill battle in this match, and all three of his opponents will be looking to take the Stinger out of action for good tonight. JC – Well Joey that match was made as the result of a contest TNA had on its website for a fan made match. At first it seemed like a good idea, on one side you would have had Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner and on the other would have been Sting and Christian Cage. It still would have been every man for themselves but at least it would have been a fair environment. However now that that little CLB Christian Cage has turned his back on Sting and all these TNA fans its almost like 3 against 1. However if I know Sting, that baseball bat of his wont be far behind and this is Hell In A Cell so all that’s legal. Sting will have to use every advantage he can get to get out of this one intact. C+?!? I don't quite get the ratings for that show because I thought it was a diamond! Taz and Rhino should be sick in that match stipulation! I'm really looking forward to that one! 5/7 on predictions for me. That's quite good seeing as I'm usually rubbish. Good work, bud ;). Quote The Raven Nevermore
C+?!? I don't quite get the ratings for that show because I thought it was a diamond!
Im a bit upset on that one as well. The data set of FOTORC by TCP1 is a big challange and my overall ratings have taken big hits since I have decided to start going all over the country. I hate to say it by i actually fell from International to Cult after that C+ last night. I am going to have to pull a rabbit out of my hat for Impact in order to get a really good rating. I know there are a lot of ways to cheat the game (always putting your top two guys together in the main event to get good ratings for one), but I like to book a bit more realisticly. Independence, to me anyway, seemed like a fantastic show that should have gotten great ratings. However the computer and the way things are set up in TEW make things a bt more difficult. Well I will have to be a bit more carefull in the comming weeks leading up to No Surrender (if I make it that far!)

This is a huge number for TNA right now and Spike TV is said to be very happy with the number. TNA Not Happy With Independence By TNA Wrestling News Staff – Wednesday, Week 1, September Word coming out of TNA Management right now is that they were not happy with the performances last night at Independence. While for the most part the matches were solid, only a couple was very good, namely the Tag Title and X-Division Title matches. While the ending to the Hell In A Cell was exciting, the match itself was very bland and basic. TNA believes that the show last night, despite the good ratings, actually hurt their popularity overall. The ratings for Impact should be a good indication if this is true or not. Allison is set to step into the woman’s division after the NWA Woman’s World Title tournament comes to an end at No Surrender. In addition to that she will also accompany the NWA Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels to the ring. In ROH and in various other promotions in the past, Allison has escorted Daniels to the ring. This, along with both Homicide and Aries & Strong coming to the ring with their ROH Title belts suggests that TNA has something going on with ROH in the future.
