TJ Bailey - The hero of our story

This story starts in July 2019. I remember the tension being thick in the room as the guys filtered back in one by one after the last 4C show.

Troy Winner - 4C Owner (1996 - 2019)

What came next isn’t so memorable, just more of Troy’s broken promises and a thousand other factors. The only thing that mattered to me was that after twelve long years, a company I’d considered home was dead and there was nowhere to go. CWA weren’t interested, I’d tried already. After twelve long years, it was time to return home.

The new few months involved a lot of wistful sighs and sending out the same highlight reel to every promotion who didn’t make it difficult. All that resulted in was a few spot shows, promoters looking to use a cup of coffee in TCW as a selling point for their shows but nothing that kept wrestling as a long term option. Until one phone call changed everything.

Larry Vessey - NYCW Owner, fellow TCW Alumni

The conversation was more pleasant than I remember Larry being back in 2004. Either time or promoting mellowed him out. I’d sent Larry a tape almost as soon as Troy shut up shop but all I got back was that it wasn’t the right time. This time, he had an idea on how to give back to the business.

January 2019

MMA was my life, but wrestling was a close second. I enjoyed my time in both, but in the end I wanted to start a family. The constant touring with PGHW was a bit too much to try and deal with having two young kids. I had to stop and take a break. I thought honestly I was done with the wrestling business after my daughter was born. Did I make a few appearances at conventions and such? Of course I did. I love the business and the fans, but my time in the ring was over. I had too much on my plate. That is until the kids were getting older and I was starting to get restless. I didn't want to get back in the ring, but I wanted to give back to the business. That is why I opened the Midwestern Wrestling Academy.

Minneapolis.thumb.jpg.7204e2dd1546a7f648e0aadfc058c7f5.jpg

I have made my home in Minneapolis and honestly the wrestling scene in the area was pretty sparse as a whole. I felt like some kids in a big city would want to train and I made it available. It won't be easy. I am not going to use kid's gloves at all and those that will graduate from my school are the ones that have the will to push themselves to the limits. If I am going to help someone become a wrestler I am going to make sure people know they are Buddy Garner approved. This is how I figured I would give back to the business. I would be out of the spotlight as a whole, but helping a new generation of talent make a mark hopefully. That was until a call was made several months later in early December. One I was not expecting.

"Hello?"

  • Big Roguey changed the title to [CVerse] ECW & TCP - Rise of The Midwest

The Formation of the North American Wrestling Alliance

COTT.jpg

The Confederation of the Territories was supposed to save the independents. That was Sam’s big pitch according to Larry. And it worked for a while. The business was booming and the promotions were singing from the same hymn sheet.

Until Sam signed the deal with Kyle Rhodes. MAW went from being the crown jewel of the COTT to being the breeding ground for TCW’s next batch of wrestling stars and failures. In Larry’s own words, Sam changed the day the deal was signed. MAW’s focus shifted to their new masters. Claims of conversations made to some of Larry’s guys to shift their sights over to TCW.

The issue that forced Larry’s hand was the closure of 4C. It always comes back to 4C. Turns out Troy had appealed for help from the COTT top bosses and whilst Larry was on board, Sam and Cliff from CZCW protected their own interests. Cliff was understandable, the West Coast hardly needed their own version of the fabled East Coast wars of the 90s. But Sam’s refusal was nothing short of a betrayal to Larry.

NAWA.png

EAGLE.jpg FCW Idea 2.jpg NYCW 3.jpg

The pitch was simple. He’d already gotten FCW down in Puerto Rico on board and the next step in his plan was two new promotions that could help carry the North American Wrestling Alliance into prominence.

Eagle Championship Wrestling was one part of the process. Larry wanted something that would appeal to, in his words, “those internet freaks” and that’s where ECW came in. The outline from Larry was simple, he basically just wanted a carbon copy of 4C. The rest was down to me.

The second part of Larry's process though? That was the surprising part.

The final piece of the puzzle when it came to the North American Wrestling Alliance fell into place near the start of 2020. Larry Vessey had contacted Buddy Garner who was a well known MMA fighter and a star for PGHW for years. Buddy Garner had opened a wrestling academy earlier in the year as a way to give back to the business, but Larry apparently thought Buddy could do even more. The result is Buddy starting a company to be the fourth and final member of the North American Wrestling Alliance. Given he had no real interest or the knack for booking it was Larry who recommended an old NYCW stalwart in Rick Sanders. Together the pair talked and eventually the decision was made.

TCP_Banner.jpg.0bc208afb73a455627ea0746cf8341dd.jpg

Twin City Promotions was born and with it became a company that looked to mix the traditional wrestling fans might see from the US combined with the hard hitting style from Japan that Buddy is more familiar with. On top of that the company looks like they will try to provide a mix of multi man matches along with traditional singles bouts. On top of trying to find a mix of veteran and young talent from the US, Buddy is also looking to bring talent over from Japan as well to help the product stand out. If the fans are ready for this East Meets West style remains to be seen, but it should at least be quite the alternative.

Keep it simple. Given the situation that was the best approach that was decided on. This is pretty new territory for myself and Rick so there was no reason to go out there and go crazy. I have never ran a company before and Rick has done little in the way of booking previously so we decided to go the slow and steady approach. The roster we put together was a good mix of young, hungry talent with some veterans that will help them develop. What we can offer is a variety of heavy hitters, fast paced lightweights, and good talkers. The focus is good, competitive matches as well as one to two simple stories the fans that come to see us can easily follow. The good versus bad approach to stories can be dated, but for a smaller company I feel it can be tried and true.

I also spent time watching matches of newer talent from Japan. There is an idea to maybe reach out to the likes of Saisho maybe to form some sort of working agreement, but for now my focus was finding raw talent to bring over and give them a chance to get some work. I found two prospects to bring in for now with the idea of bringing more later on depending on how the company pans out. The demand for wrestling isn't so big right now and the economy isn't faring well. I thankfully saved my money from MMA and PGHW days and invested wisely in my time away. The company is a small investment right now and I am willing to invest more if I feel it is worth it. I am also not against closing the doors if it is a lost cause financially. If TCP fails I at least have my training school to fall back on as well as other endeavors outside of wrestling.

The contracts have been signed, the venue rented and production equipment purchased. Soon it would be time to start out the year of 2020 with a bang. Officially TCP will be the first show presented under the North American Wrestling Alliance Banner with FCW and NYCW running theirs a few days later. It looks like ECW will wrap things up for the month. It was time to find out of TCP will sink or swim.

The Hot Taggs vs Iron Hyodo and Wataru Kikumoto

The first match of the evening bits two teams that are relatively unknown. The Hot Taggs are a young, powerhouse team that hail from Montana while Hyodo and Kikumoto are youn Japanese talent personally selected by Buddy Garner. All four men are on the green side, but Hyodo and Kikumoto show a bit more polish and lead the match. That match is very much power against technique as Hyodo and Kikumoto often show some good innovation in countering some of the Tagg's moves. In the end it is experience at being a team that wins out. Hyodo and Kikumoto show promise, but it is their first match together. The brothers end up getting the better of the Japanese talent and pin Hyodo after a Montana Slammer.

Winners: The Hot Taggs

Christopher Ball vs Hammer Hadley

Former MMA fighter Christopher Ball takes on a monsterous man known as Hammer Hadley. Instantly a hard hitting fight where both men pummel one another with strikes. Hadley oven overpowers Ball and to try and make up for size differential Ball attempts to use a few holds to try and slow down Hadley and hurt his limbs. A tactic that works for a bit until Hadley runs Ball into a corner and starts to just rain down strikes and deliver knees. He pulls Ball out from the corner to toss him into the ropes. In turn Hadley bounces off the other side and delivers a sickening lariat that looks like it could have decapitated Christopher Ball. The big man picks up the pin quickly after that.

Ball is helped out as Hadley poses for the booing crowd. He is soon on his way to the back when another big invidual emerges with a pretty, young woman at his side. He and Hadley bump shoulders and the pair stare down one another for a moment before both move on. The young woman gets herself a microphone before getting into the ring with the large man she came out with.

DeAnna Desire: "Minneapolis! I want to introduce to you the one and only......PAPA SWOLL!"

Swoll smirks somewhat as he takes the microphone and he turns his attention to the back.

Papa Swoll: "I see there are some guys here wanting to the be the top dog in this place. I just passed one and I can see that fire in his eyes, but the problem is that sucka is in the wrong place at t he wrong time because I'm here now. Anywhere else he might have had a chance, but nah. That isn't happening around here. This place is going to Papa Swoll territory and anyone that wants to say otherwise can step up. DeAnna, baby, I think tonight I am going to let all the boys back there see just what happens if they step up to Swoll."

With that being said, Swoll hands the mic back to DeAnna who exits the ring.

Papa Swoll with DeAnna Desire vs Dominic DeGraff

Another match featuring hard hitting action with little in the way of finesse. Both men spend the early part of the match battering one another with DeGraff not backing down from swole at all. He does well at the start, but Swoll begins to overpower him and get leverage. Some big moves from swoll wear down DeGraff and firmly put the bigger man at the advantage. After a big side suplex DeGraff is slow to get up and on the dazed side. It gives Swoll the perfect chance to bounce off the ropes to gain momentum and nail DeGraff with The Pounce. One three count later and Swoll is declared the victor.

The Past Masters vs Minnesota Awesome

More tag action as MAW products The Past masters take on two of Minnesota's own. Much like the earlier tag match it is a clash of styles with The Past Masters using a slow, methodical approach with their power advantage while Minnesota Awesome try to keep their opponents on their toes with their speed and high flying attacks. It is a back and forth match at first, but then it starts to look like a repeat of the earlier tag match where the power of The Past Masters is too much. Sandman Winks has Clark Smallbone in his sleeper for what looks like a win, but Clark manages to wiggle free and escape. He quickly tags in Perry Longstaff who starts throwing dropkicks and dropping both Past Masters. Clark recovers and the pair clear The Historian out of the ring before both go up top and the pair drop elbows on Sandman Winks at the same time. Clark quickly rolls out of the ring to make sure The Historian doesn't interfere and Perry picks up the pin.

Perhaps the first somewhat familiar face of the night is a gradute of TCW's School of Wrestling. Quentin Queen has wrestled through the Midwest quite a bit at least, though the woman at his side is a new addition. He gets into the ring while his valet fetches him a microphone and hands it to him from outside the ring.

Quentin Queen: "The lovely Marina Del Ray, everyone. The type of beauty you disgusting creatures in the seats only wish you could get. I have come here to save this dreadful show full of simpletons and slavering beasts and deliver you real wrestling. Now that I have seen some of the competition I wonder if I made the right the decision, but I am man of culture that must realize this a fate I must deal with. Do not fret my simple minded audience for I will win tonight and show you what real wrestling is."

Quentin Queen with Marina Del Ray vs Remmy Skye

Queen does not look pleased to find out his opponent for the night is the high energy, former independent wrestler of the year known as Remmy Skye. In fact he instantly jumps Skye as he enters the ring and takes control. Queen dominates the match for awhile by keeping Remmy grounded with various holds meant to wear the colorful wrestler down. It only takes one miscue for things to change. Remmy eventually wiggles and frees himself from an arm bar then ducks a clothesline. He starts to fire up and deliver quick strikes that thrown Queen off balance. Thinking he pulls a smart one, Queen quickly rolls to the outside, but Marina tries to warn him to move. It is too late as Remmy throws caution to the wind as he dives out and lands on Queen. He quickly tosses Queen back in the ring and continues to take control. An eyepoke slows Remmy down for a bit, but it isn't enough. Queen tries to deliver his pattened Q-Ball, but Remmy reverses and downs Queen. Remmy goes up top while Marina screams for Queen to get up. It's too little too late as Remmy lands the Skye Diver and picks up the win.

???: "Stop the celebration, right now!"

Remmy was enjoying his win while Queen is being helped away by Marina to go lick his wounds. A youth emerges from the back with mic in hand and seems to be the one that demanded Remmy cease his celebration.

???: "This is it? This is the best Buddy could do? Bring in a junkie that hasn't been able to find a regular job for years because he is unreliable?"

Remmy does not seem happy and the youth has his attention fully at this point. The young man is slowly approaching the ring as he talks and Remmy stands almost begging him to get in the ring.

???: "I have a better idea. How about you get out of that ring, get out of this building then get a bus back to where you came. We don't need the likes of you here, Remmy. This place is about the future of wrestling where you are just a relic of the past. Not only are you all drugged up  you are washed up too, but I see you aren't going to leave on your own. That's fine. There are other ways to get rid of you."

Remmy is jumped from behind by two other men who knock him down and start take the boots to him. The youth soon enters the ring to join in. Remmy is left in a beaten, unconcious heap before the trio toss him out of the ring. The youth stands in the middle of the ring after getting his mic back and the other two stand at his side.

???: "I'm Jack Pryde, this is Flash Savage and Ozzie Golden. We are the Primetime Blondes and we run this place!"

Boos rain down on the trio as they pose to end the show.

Blue Dragon & Flying Patriot vs Eric LaMonica & Reilly Paton

The first match in ECW history saw two somewhat makeshift teams thrown together. On one hand, the masked Americans of Blue Dragon and Flying Patriot who came out and highfived the crowd. On the other hand, Canadians.

A relatively back and forth affair, Blue Dragon and Flying Patriot stood tall as the first ever winners in ECW following Blue's wicked Dragon Driver on Reilly.

Shown on the feed for the viewers at home, the ex-4C duo of Eric LaMonica & Reilly Paton were outside the arena commiserating on their defeat and how different things are in St Louis than they were in 4C....a comment overheard by Warren Technique who was getting in a pre match stretch. Wary at first about what Warren wanted, the veteran technician held his hands up and insisted he came in peace - wanting nothing more than to take the two wrestlers under his wing and help them reach their true potential. Nodding along, the trio walked off screen.

A stark contrast in appearances greeted the audiences with the flashy and self-involved Cheech Kong taking on the white haired high flyer Kid Fantastic. Whilst a contrast in appearances, the two wrestlers engaged in aerial warfare to the delight of the paying crowd. Wrapping things up with the Fantasm in just under 8 minutes, Fantastic barely even celebrated his win before sulking off to the back whilst Cheech threw a tantrum at ringside.

Nathaniel Ca$ino vs TJ Bailey

Old rivals in 4C reunited in the ring once more in the next contest of the night as St Louis' own TJ Bailey faced off against the high rolling Nathaniel Ca$ino - a man who infuriatingly refuses to acknowledge the existence of the letter s. Running at the first bell, the theme of the match was very much one of reluctant cat vs mouse with TJ not looking to indulge Ca$ino in his non$en$e too much until the moment Bailey's guard was down wherein Ca$ino would get in a $neak attack. Eventually getting back to a level footing, Bailey would find himself rocked from behind by the nascent West Coast wrestler Onslaught

Laid out with the Double or Nothing afterwards, Ca$ino leapt to the outside of the ring following the victory bell and held aloft the arm of Onslaught in a sure sign of a dangerous alliance coming to ECW.

A pretaped promo aired next with the trio of Bret Kyle, Taylor Norton & Cheyenne boasted about how young, successful, hot and wasted they are right now. Too young, hot and wasted in fact to be stuck in boring, old, rundown St Louis so tonight will be a quick one as they put two never-was losers to rest before getting the first flight - first class obviously - out of this Mid West wasteland.

The team of Jazz Funk and Too Hot came out of the gates hot after Young & Wasted's comments pre-match, diving at the cocky youngsters before they'd made it into the ring to prove that they weren't the old dogs that they were made out to be. Keeping Bret and Taylor on the back foot, a momentary lapse in concentration caused by Cheyenne going after Hot Funk's manager Billie Krystal saw just enough time for Jazz Funk to planted with The Go Home before the three count saw Young & Wasted's pre-match premonition come to life.

Another clash of styles in the semi main event of the night as the jingoistic journeyman Drop Kix took on the San Diego Stretcher and seeming mentor to Eric LaMonica and Reilly Paton, Warren Technique. A more even match that you'd expect given the resumes of each man, it would never the less be Warren who claimed victory with an STF. Post match, Eric and Reilly would come out to the ringside for something of a debriefing on the evening with Warren making the challenge for Drop Kix, Blue Dragon and the Flying Patriot to face off against Warren and his Learning Tree next month - a challenge reluctantly accepted by a wary Drop Kix.

Warren Technique defeated Drop Kix in 11:24 by submission with a STF.

Leftie Wilkes.jpgHarry Allen.jpg

A live promo was up next, the opening refrains of the Dropkick Murphys' Time to Go leading out a man in black and gold. Introducing himself to the audience as Leftie Wilkes, a proud Bostonian the majority of the promo was just Leftie listing reasons why Boston was better than miserable little St Louis - more sports success, more recognition, more talented pro wrestlers. Opening up the floor to anyone, Leftie visibly wasn't expecting ex-TCW wrestler and the last ever 4C champion Harry Allen to come to ringside. A man of few words, Harry simply asked for Leftie to shut his mouth to the applause of the audience before getting a sucker punch for his interruption.

Harry Allen vs Leftie Wilkes

The main event of the night and another clash of former 4C individuals, the sucker punch saw Leftie take the quick advantage. Swarming on top of Harry, the smothering offence worked until a rope break drew a very close to 5 count and Referee David Poker admonishing Leftie for his abundant disregard for the rules. Evening out as the match went on, neither wrestler managed to get enough momentum going until after the ten minute mark. With Leftie waning, it looked all set for Harry to take the W. Setting up for the Flying Fist Drop that has served Harry well in his veteran career, a crafty timed stumble into the ropes saw the situation change. Winded and down from his perch, Harry just barely succumbed to a roll up with an added handful of Harry's gear ensuring Mr. Boston walked away the victor to the chagrin of the audience.

Leftie Wilkes defeated Harry Allen in 13:07 by pinfall with a handful of tights.

TJ Bailey - Larry Vessey

Casually Dressed and Deep in (Phone) Conversation

LV: "You'll be fine Tyson. Learn from Troy's mistakes, don't run the company into the ground the way he did. Bringing in the old guard is fine but don't make them the centrepiece of the show. Only ends badly that way."

In the present...

TJ Bailey.jpg

TJ Bailey

Alive in Post Show Glory

The show went better than expected, or so TJ thought. No injuries? Check. Good gate for a first show? Check. No post show complaints....

Harry Allen.jpg

Harry Allen

Third Check Denier

TJ's thought process was broken by the jingle and jangle of Harry Allen's cowboy boots. Looking up to see the stern faced Aussie-American standing in front of him, TJ knew what was coming.

HA: "So when am I getting the win back Tyson?"

He wasn't.

TJ: "You aren't."

The past words of advice from Larry played in TJ's head. Harry had some name value courtesy of his TCW tenure but that name value saw him demand a higher booking fee than was comfortable in the budget. Troy had banked on the name value bringing in new fans and it killed the territory, TJ wasn't about to let the same happen here.

TJ: "I told you, this was a one night appearance. Leftie is going to be one of our big names going forward, we don't have the money in the budget to bring you back month to month."

HA: "That wasn't what was discussed and you know it Tyson. You might have Larry's backing but that won't help you if this is how you're running this shop."

With that, Harry picked up his bags and walked out of the small hall where ECW's name would begin to grow. TJ stared ahead as Harry walked away and with a sigh, deleted his contact information from his phone. One less person to consider for bookings in the future.

Keep it simple. It was stated before and that is the mantra at least for the immediate future. We had competitive matches and the start of a few stories which were easy to follow. Enough to send the fans home happy and hopefully have them come back the following month. I let Rick work with the boys when it came to the story side of things. I can help with wrestling all day long, but my years in Japan left me never needing to worry about telling a outside of the ring. Not that Rick is a well versed entertainer himself. He like Larry, and perhaps myself, have an oldschool mindset that always focused more on in ring action. We have some good talkers though and that is what we let them do. Sell themselves with their gift of gab.

Things went well before the show. The only snag was Quentin Queen arriving and not really taking time to greet anyone and kept to himself. He didn't even introduce himself to Marina which is what caused me to pull him aside and speak with him. Queen is a good hand, but his personality might be what hinders him most. I wonder if this is why TCW passed on him all those years ago or if them passing on Queen did something to his self confidence and his current attitude is a result of it. I hope this is only a one time deal and he doesn't cause any problems in the future. More so I want to keep him around for more matches with Remmy in the future. The two just had a natural chemistry when working with one another and it was a joy to watch. It easily made for the best match of the show by far.

I also found out from Clark and Perry that they are not popular with IPW management right now due to signing with us. I can only gather it is due to IPW being with Confederation of the Territories. Seems petty, but the show after finding out Minnesota Awesome signed with us they lost the titles. Part of me regrets signing them if it creates problems, but IPW's folly might be our gain. Both men have a promising future and if IPW won't help them out I sure as hell will. It made me talk with The Past Masters after the show and thankfully they don't seem to have any heat over in MAW. I hope it remains that way. Young talent shouldn't be punished over wanting to work more and improve.

In the end everyone is pleased with how the first show went down. The first month in general for all four companies went well. All the alliance titles are still up for grabs and we are discussing who may crown the first champions. Given our tag focus I have made a pitch to let us have first crack at the tag team belts while TJ made a similar pitch for the Junior Prestige. It seems fair NYCW or FCW would get to decide on the Prestige title. They are the bigger names and also have more established talent that would make for a good first champion. For now me and Rick are focusing on the near future and what to do next month and continue to build momentum.

Primetime Jack Pryde and The Canadian Blondes head to the ring to start things off. With mic in hand Jack is the first to speak for the trio that is collectively calling themselves The Primetime Blondes.

Jack: "What you saw last month is just a taste of what is going to happen. Remmy Skye made a mistake and paid for it. He is just the first of many. We are going to rule this place and there is nothing anyone is going to do about it."

Ozzie: "It goes beyond that, Jack. It isn't just TCP. All of the North American Wrestling Alliance will realize our greatness and it all starts tonight."

Flash: "Two matches. Two easy wins. One tonight and the other next month, then we will have the North American Wrestling Alliance tag titles in our hands and I dare anyone to try and take them from us."

Jack: "Tonight I got some loser named Pepper Pelton to beat on. Ozzie and Flash here are going to take care of the Canadian Blonde wannabes that call themselves Minnesota Awesome and when that is done we are going to celebrate like there is no tomorrow."

With all that being said the trio exit the ring and head to the back as the first match gets ready to start.

The Hot Taggs vs Aces of Mayhem

The Hot Taggs start the show off again, this time the young duo face off against the veteran team of Ace Youngblood and Max Mayhem. It has been several years since the two have wrestled together and they start off a bit rusty. This gives the larger Taggs the early advantage and they use their size and strength to keep Max in their corner for a good while. Max eventually escapes and manages to tag Ace in. Ace starts rolling and the Aces soon start to find their groove as the match goes on. The Taggs manage to stall the momentum a few times, but Ace and Max always seem to find a way to regain it. Ace eventually knocks Kalder out of the ring and sets up Wolfie for Max to nail with the Chaos Effect. A three count soon follows

Hammer Hadley vs Mercutio Sleep

The monster known as Hammer Hadley finds himself destroying a much smaller opponent once again. Sleep gets little offense in and what he does manage to connect with barely seems to slow down Hadley. Hadley mostly toys around with Sleep and tosses him about with ease. One giant Lariat later and Hammer picks up another win.

Hammer Hadley looks ready to inflict more pain on the already beaten Mercutio Sleep when DeAnna Desire comes out to once again introduce Papa Swoll. Swoll emerges with a swagger in his step and microphone in hand. He fully has Hammer's attention at this point.

Papa Swoll: "Yo, big man. Are you tired of playing with the kids? How about next month you face a man. I bet you can't throw me around like that. In fact if anyone going to be tossed about it will be you. Come on and step up, sucka."

Hammer Hadley doesn't even have to consider. He shows no signs of being intimidated by the imposing Swoll and just nods in agreement to the challenge. That causes Swoll to smile wide and not in return.

Papa Swoll: "Now that is what I like. No hesitation about getting an ass kicking from me. I'll see you next month and we'll see who the big dog is around here, sucka."

Primetime Jack Pryde vs Pepper Pelton

Both young talents look like future stars, but the match proves both men have a long way to go. There are flashes of what may come to be, but the match itself is perhaps too long and it exposes how green both men are. With that being said they do seem to have a natural chemistry working together and if perhaps a few minutes were shaved off the bout it would have been enough to hide their weaknesses. The match itself is a back and forth with Jack often showing he isn't against cheating and uses it fully to his advantage. Pepper is a fiery brawler that gets some good offense in, but Jack's cheating is the deciding factor. When the referee is in close trying to break up a scuffle in the corner, Jack uses the chance to low blow Pepper. It allows Jack to hit Pepper with the Prydefall and get the victory.

The Historian vs Remmy Skye

The Historian is in singles action this time around as he faces off against Remmy Skye. Remmy seems not to be too worse for wear after last month's beatdown and takes it right to the larger opponent. Historian eventually overpowers Skye to slow down the pace. He is slow and methodical as he does his best to keep Remmy grounded and works over his legs. He looks ready to go for a figure four, but Remmy catches him in a quick roll-up. Historian kicks out, but Remmy gets to his feet first and starts to attack. Remmy is slowed by the damage done to his legs, but he still manages to get the advantage. He sends The Historian out of the ring then nails a beautiful dive. He gets Historian back in the ring and goes up top. Skye Diver connects and Remmy picks up the win.

The Canadian Blondes vs Minnesota Awesome

The battle of who are the prettiest of boys. It is almost like a timewarp is pitting The Canadian Blondes against their past selves. The match starts out fast paced with all four men breaking out some crazy and flashy moves early on to wow the crowd. Minnesota Awesome need to improve in areas, but they work well together and combined with being in the ring with two veterans they come out looking good with most weaknesses covered unlike the earlier match with Jack and Pepper. It is a very back and forth affair and neither team gets an advantage until....

1905984883_PrimeTimeJackPryde.jpg.88c1f8dd3c47bc1526ec2ad49e5b2154.jpg

Ugh, him....

Jack Pryde soon makes his presence known ringside. He provides a great distraction which allows The Canadian Blondes to capitalize. Perry is on the outside getting distracted by Jack allowing Ozzie to jump him from behind and knock him off the apron after downing Clark in the ring. he quickly tags in Flash Savage who applies the Canadian Crab to Clark. Ozzie prevents Perry from getting into the ring and Clark is forced to tap.

Drop Kix (captain), Blue Dragon & Flying Patriot vs The Learning Tree [Warren Technique (captain), Eric LaMonica & Reilly Paton]

The official debut of Warren Technique, Eric LaMonica and Reilly Paton as a trio in ECW, the heirarchy was clear as Warren directed the pair throughout the match. Showing his veteran smarts, Warren's tactics had his young proteges on the front foot throughout the most of the match. Inexperience and overconfidence would be the downfall of The Learning Tree however as a series of flashy moves from Eric led to him falling victim to Blue Dragon and a Relampago Schoolboy [Ed Note: Skayde Schoolboy, Skayde doesn't exist in this world though] with a frustrated Warren on the side holding Reilly back from breaking up the pin.

Post match, Warren refused to let Eric and Reilly leave the ring until a public post match debriefing was done. Criticising both men's efforts in front of the paying fans - Eric for his moves over mind approach and Reilly for doing nothing to break up the pin for the team (Reilly looked set to protest before a look from Warren saw him fall back in line) - Warren finished by stating that next month Eric better redeem himself in a solo effort without either Warren or Reilly at ringside.

Robin Newman.jpg

A new face to ECW audiences, a promo from the self proclaimed "Realest, Toughest, Cutest Professionalest Wrestler" Robin Newman aired. Making loud proclamations that no other wrestler needs to bother since he's around now (despite looking a buck fifty soaking wet), Robin declared tonight was step one to him becoming the grand champion of all of the Mid West. Looking like he was ready to state more promises, a shrieking call from off screen saw the promo hurriedly end but before the audio picked up Robin being admonished by what appeared to be a maternal figure for something.

Cheech Kong vs Robin Newman

A fairly by the books affair considering how Robin clearly sees himself as a professional wrestling, he unsurprisingly didn't mount much of a fight here against Cheech Kong - a man who seemed perplexed at times by Robin. Ending things just over six minutes with a moonsault, Cheech left the ring with his arms held high. Robin also left the ring with his arms held high, still seeing himself as the realest, toughest and cutest clearly.

Bret Kyle & Taylor Norton [Young & Wasted] vs Jazz Funk & Too Hot [Hot Funk]

A rematch from last month where Young & Wasted took the victory over Hot Funk, both teams knew more about how they operated as partners and opponents which led to a bit more of a drawn out match. Young & Wasted tried their seemingly usual tactics (cheating) against the more seasoned duo of Jazz Funk and Too Hot but the tricks failed to work on this occasion with Billie Krystal at ringside helping to play the great equaliser. Gaining a measure of revenge and tying the impromtu series at 1-1, Too Hot gained the win with the Heat Seeking Missile after the ten minute mark.

Refusing to take the loss in their stride, all three members of Young & Wasted proceeded to throw a temper tantrum in the ring at their loss - blaming everyone from the referee to their opponents to the Governor of Missouri for Bret Kyle being pinned before staring at the retreating victors...

Onslaught vs TJ Bailey

A match requested by TJ Bailey after the events of last month, the young East Coast based Onslaught came out alone with no backup from his ally Nathaniel Ca$ino. A being of pure aggression, Onslaught lived up to his name - not even letting TJ's name be finished by the ring announcer before crashing into him with a flying tackle. A scrappy affair with TJ constantly having to get out from underneath Onslaught's swarming offence, veteran experience came through with Onslaught's blind rage eventually catching up to him. One TJ Time later and it would be TJ Bailey's arm raised by David Poker.

Taking to the microphone after the match, TJ leaned on the ropes and beckoned for Nathaniel Ca$ino to show. Getting his wish, TJ kept it short and sweet. Wanting another shot at Nathaniel now his lap dog is out of the way, TJ petitioned for the match to happen at next month's Championship Wrestling from St Louis event...

....only to be met with refusal by the well dressed nuisance who simply turned and walked away to the fury of his waiting rival.

MAIN EVENT

Kid Fantastic.jpegVS.jpgLeftie Wilkes.jpg

Kid Fantastic vs Leftie Wilkes

The main event of the evening pitted the two biggest winners of last month's debut show against each other, the perpetually morose Kid Fantastic vs the Boston arrogance of Leftie Wilkes. The majority of the match saw Leftie trying to get inside Fantastic's head but seeing all of his attempts either fail or be flat out ignored, drawing Leftie into further fits of anger each time. Eventually kicking to life, Fantastic was a whirlwind of movement in the ring with Leftie struggling to keep up.

Seeing the match slip away, Leftie would roll outside of the ring for a breather and caught his breath just in time to move out of the way of a Kid Fantastic dive. Dragging him back into the ring, the Boston Whiplash kept Fantastic down just enough for the self proclaimed Massachusetts Messiah to get his second win in ECW.
