World Wonder Ring STARDOM: Stars Burn Bright

World Wonder Ring STARDOM is a Japanese joshi puroresu or women's professional wrestling promotion based in Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 2010 by former All Japan Women co-producer Rossy Ogawa, retired professional wrestler and mixed martial artist Fuka Kakimoto, and All Japan Women veteran professional wrestler Nanae Takahashi. Stardom is currently owned by Japanese card game company Bushiroad, making it the sister promotion of New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

With it's ever-changing stables and roster, dynamic ring style and collection of some of the best competitors in the world, STARDOM is one of the most exciting promotions in professional wrestling, and it's only just getting started.

Cosmic Angels

Founded by Tam Nakano after Tam left STARS in late 2020 to escape Mayu Iwatami’s shadow, the group is full of colourful characters who fully embrace the Idol lifestyle. Don’t let that fool you however, they’re always willing to go all out and can give a beating as much as take one. In the past year they’ve grown with the addition of subgroups Color’s and Club Venus and look set for a big 2023.

Created by Giulia three years again alongside Maika and Syuri, the idea behind DDM was that it was a group of outsiders who wanted to conquer the world’s top women’s promotion. Their first two years established them as Stardom’s most dominant, and to many their coolest, group, but defections from the likes of Syuri and Natsupoi made for a tough 2022.

God's Eye

Founded in 2022 after Syuri’s amicable split from Donna Del Mundo, God’s Eye was founded because Syuri was tired of not being the centrepiece of DDM. Since that split Syuri has brought in a number of talented women who are all looking to learn from one of the best to do it. Hard hitting, God’s Eye thrive in the heat of battle.

A relatively new unit, the Neo Stardom Army started out with Jazzy Gabert’s mission to tear down STARDOM for “what it’s become”. Realistically however the group have yet to really find their identity despite finding success within the Goddesses of Stardom scene.

Oedo Tai

The longest tenured faction in Stardom, Oedo Tai are sometimes playful, often ruthless, villains who will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. Mischievous as they may be, Oedo Tai are equally as dangerous and thrive as being the ultimate villains of Stardom, even as other groups try to take that moniker for themselves.

Prominence

In January 2022 the freelance death match collective known as Prominence invaded Stardom to shine a light on the forgotten scene of Joshi death match wrestling, though Suzu Suzuki had her own motives for coming to Stardom, to wage war on Giulia for betraying her when she left Ice Ribbon. Chaotic and violent, Prominence may be the most dangerous group in Stardom if they choose to stick around.

Queen's Quest

The second oldest group in Stardom, Queen’s Quest were initially founded by Io Shirai with the purpose being to bring together hard working women who weren’t afraid to put the work in to become the best of the best. STARDOM TRIANGLE DERBY TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Stardom’s first ever Triangle Derby will begin in a few days time, and will feature teams of three wrestlers split into two pools, the Triangle Red and Triangle Blue. Unlike most round robin tournaments in the Triangle Derby the teams from the same pool will not be facing each other. Instead each team faces all teams from the opposite pool in bouts with a 15-minute time limit. Wins are worth two points, a draw one point and the top two teams from each pool will advance to a single-elimination bracket to determine the winners!

I mean Supernova was the obvious choice, but Stretch had that one tied up so I wanted something along the same theme.

Want to say a big thanks for all the support so far, I'm looking forward to delving into this game world with you, but a special thanks goes to Stretch for inspiring me to start this because he finished his diary and left me with a lack of STARDOM content in my day.

STARDOM - THE PREDICTION CONTEST!

I love a good prediction contest, but I'm having to mix things up because I'll be giving mostly shorter recap results for the usual tour shows leaving predictions for the big shows only. My plan is to do a new contest every three months in-game time, with prizes varying depending on what's coming up. So the first show with predictions will be the Triangle Grand Prix final (I've condensed the tournament into January rather than running it for three months), but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun now.

The first place prize for the January - March prediction contest will be to choose any competitor on the roster to get a title match of your choosing, and I will ensure that there is a story to back it up. That means if you want to give someone a push up the card it's a good chance to do so by gifting them a World of STARDOM shot, but the possibilities are endless. I may add second and third place prizes as well, but we'll see what kind of participation we get.

Friday, Week 1, January 2023

1. TRIANGLE DERBY - Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May and Xia Brookside) defeated 02lineC (AZM, Miyu Amasaki and Lady C) in 7:47 when Mina Shirakawa pinned Lady C with the GSS. Club Venus made a successful debut as a unit while Tam Nakano watched from ringside. The leader of Cosmic Angels seemingly gave Mina her blessing for Club Venus to act as a sub-unit of Cosmic Angels with a round of applause. [42]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Rebel X Enemy (Maya Yukihi, Ram Kaicho and Maika Ozaki) defeated MaihimeMai (Himeka, Maika and Mai Sakurai) in 10:05 when Maya Yukihi pinned Maika with the Snowton Bomb. [41]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Neo Stardom Army (Nanae Takahashi, Yuu and Yuna Manase) defeated Color’s (Hikari Shimizu, Rina Amikura and Yuko Sakurai) in 7:45 when Nanae Takahashi pinned Rina Amikura with a Nana Rocker. [45]

4. TRIANGLE DERBY - Cosmic Angels (Tam Nakano, Natsupoi and SAKI) defeated Classmates (Hazuki, Koguma and Saya Iida) in 12:19 when Tam Nakano pinned Saya Iida with a Spin Kick. [55]

TRIANGLE DERBY - Unique Glare (Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid and Haruka Umesaki) defeated Abarenbo GE (Syuri, MIRAI and Ami Sourei) in 9:42 when Starlight Kid pinned MIRAI with a Standing Moonsault. There was a clear issue among Unique Glare as Momo seemed apprehensive to tag in Haruka Umesaki despite Starlight Kid vouching for her. Unique Glare came out on top, but Oedo Tai don’t seem to have quite accepted Starlight Kid’s new addition just yet. [57]

6. TRIANGLE DERBY - Prominence (Risa Sera, Suzu Suzuki and Hiragi Kurumi) defeated H&M’s (Mayu Iwatani, Hanan and Momo Kohgo) in 12:23 when Suzu Suzuki pinned Hanan with a Grand Maestro de Tequila. [56]

7. TRIANGLE DERBY - AphrOditE H (Utami Hayashishita, Saya Kamitani and Hina) defeated Oedo Tai (Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima and Ruaka) in 13:15 when Saya Kamitani submitted Ruaka with a Sickle Hold. [53]

POST-MATCH: AphrOditE H celebrate their victory, Utami Hayashishita giving a passionate promo about making history by winning the first ever Triangle Derby. When Saya Kamitani started speaking however Momo Watanabe, who had watched their Oedo Tai unit mates lose, climbed into the ring and got in her face, pointing at the Wonder of STARDOM Championship before walking out of the ring. NOTES:

- A decent start rating wise, it’s going to take a couple of months to get a feel for who is going to hold up rating wise aside from the usual suspects, especially in these six-woman matches.

- Himeka suffered a bruised eye socket, nobody to blame, she’ll work through for 18 days since we can limit her time due to the tournament’s nature. First injury on the first show does not make me feel overly optimistic on that front.

Saturday, Week 1, January 2023

1. Thekla defeated Nanami in 8:01 by submission with a Death Strap Lock. [40]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Prominence (Risa Sera, Suzu Suzuki and Hiragi Kurumi) defeated Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May and Xia Brookside) in 11:20 when Suzu Suzuki pinned Xia Brookside with a Grand Maestro de Tequila. [43]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - H&M’s (Mayu Iwatani, Hanan and Momo Kohgo) defeated Color’s (Hikari Shimizu, Rina Amikura and Yuko Sakurai) in 9:30 when Mayu Iwatani pinned Yuko Sakurai with a Two Stage Dragon Suplex Hold. [54]

4. Queen’s Quest (Utami Hayashishita & Hina) defeated Cosmic Angels (SAKI & Waka Tsukiyama) in 8:11 when Utami Hayashishita pinned Waka Tsukiyama with a German Suplex Hold. Waka seemed unusually dejected following the match, her long losing streak getting to her. [53]

5. TRIANGLE DERBY - Neo Stardom Army (Nanae Takahashi, Yuu and Yuna Manase) defeated 02lineC (AZM, Miyu Amasaki and Lady C) in 9:31 when Yuu pinned Lady C with a Last Ride. [51]

POST-MATCH: Maihime crash Neo Stardom Army’s victory celebration, reminding them that they’re their first challengers to the Goddesses of Stardom Championship. Maihime seem up for a fight, but Neo Stardom Army are content to make them wait. [38]

6. TRIANGLE DERBY - Classmates (Hazuki, Koguma and Saya Iida) defeated Abarenbo GE (Syuri, MIRAI and Ami Sourei) in 12:02 when Hazuki pinned MIRAI with Atomic Bomb's Away. [61]

POST-MATCH: Guilia makes an unexpected appearance following the main event, proudly brandishing the World of STARDOM Championship. She eyes up Hazuki, bringing up that Hazuki beat her during the 5STAR Grand Prix and that she can’t have that hanging over her as champion. She selects Hazuki as her first challenger, telling her that she wants 5STAR Hazuki, not STARS Hazuki. Hazuki seems hyper focused on the idea of toppling Guilia at the first hurdle. [56]

NOTES:

- An improved show rating over my first show as the main event delivered and we start setting the scene for some of the initial feuds we’ll be focusing on during the Triangle Derby. As some of you may notice I’m not following the current schedule of running the Derby all the way until March and it’ll run just for January, so you’ll be getting more Triangle Derby matches per card.

- Hazuki gets to step up as Giulia’s first challenger for Supreme Fight, playing off that big 5Star victory she holds over the champ, and while Giulia goes in as the favourite I want to make it clear that I’m a big fan of surprise booking…

Sunday, Week 1, January 2023

1. Saya Iida defeated Tomoka Inaba and Miyu Amasaki in 9:15 when Saya Iida pinned Tomoka Inaba with the Iida Bridge. [43]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Abarenbo GE (Syuri, MIRAI and Ami Sourei) defeated Color’s (Hikari Shimizu, Rina Amikura and Yuko Sakurai) in 9:31 when Syuri pinned Rina Amikura with the PK. [55]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Oedo Tai (Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima and Ruaka) defeated Rebel X Enemy (Maya Yukihi, Ram Kaicho and Maika Ozaki) in 10:39 when Natsuko Tora pinned Maika Ozaki with the Spear. [50]

4. Prominence (Mochi Natsumi & Akane Fujita) defeated Oedo Tai (Rina & Fukigen Death) in 8:03 when Akane Fujita submitted Rina with a POM Juice. [48]

5. TRIANGLE DERBY - Unique Glare (Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid and Haruka Umesaki) defeated MaihimeMai (Himeka, Maika and Mai Sakurai) in 12:06 when Starlight Kid pinned Mai Sakurai with a Shiranui. There were similar problems for Unique Glare tonight as Momo didn’t seem fully confident tagging Umesaki in, leaving  her team in jeopardy at times, and leaving Starlight Kid to capture the victory. 6. TRIANGLE DERBY - Cosmic Angels (Tam Nakano, Natsupoi and SAKI) drew with AphrOditE H (Utami Hayashishita, Saya Kamitani and Hina) in 15:00 when the time limit expired. [60]

POST-MATCH: Following the draw AphrOditE H take the microphone to send the crowd home, but while Saya Kamitani is talking about Momo Watanabe’s apparent challenge she is interrupted by Tam Nakano, who reenters the ring. Tam seems fixated on the Wonder of Stardom Championship, her usual idol girl demeanour faltering for just a moment before she fixes the smile back on her face, shakes Utami Hayashishita’s and Hina’s hands but exits the ring without doing the same to Kamitani, who watches perplexed. [47]

SHOW RATING: 58

NOTES:

- I know STARDOM have had some flack from an over-reliance on time limit draws, and I agree with that even though there is a time and place for them, but I think the one time it truly suits is during these tournament situations.

- Bull Nakano has taken Himeka under her wing as her protege. At just 25 years old she’s got time to progress, and she’s already a solid talent who just needs to find that little bit extra to make herself a singles title contender.

STARDOM Triangle Derby Night Four
Friday, Week 2, January 2023

1. Starlight Kid defeated Nanami in 7:44 by pinfall with a Standing Moonsault. [47]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May and Xia Brookside) defeated Rebel X Enemy (Maya Yukihi, Ram Kaicho and Maika Ozaki) in 10:47 when Mariah May pinned Ram Kaicho with a Reverse Bulldog. Maya Yukihi went down mid-match clutching her shoulder following an awkward landing from a top rope dropkick, leaving her partners at a disadvantage that they simply couldn't overcome. [41]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Prominence (Risa Sera, Suzu Suzuki and Hiragi Kurumi) defeated Neo Stardom Army (Nanae Takahashi, Yuu and Yuna Manase) in 13:14 when Suzu Suzuki pinned Yuna Manase with a Grand Maestro de Tequila. [52]

POST-MATCH: Risa takes a microphone and questions what became of Neo Stardom Army, when they came to STARDOM it was to tear it down for what it had become, but they saw them at Dream Queendom, getting emotional over winning the Goddesses of STARDOM Championship, complimenting meltear, it was pathetic. Neo Stardom Army square up to Prominence, but Suzu laughs in their faces, saying the Neo Stardom Army is nothing, and they can watch Prominence do what they couldn’t - rain down chaos upon STARDOM. [38]

4. Mafia Bella (Giulia & Thekla) defeated Prominence (Akane Fujita & Mochi Natsumi) in 10:54 when Giulia pinned Mochi Natsumi with a Diving Crossbody. [56]

5. TRIANGLE DERBY - MaihimeMai (Himeka, Maika and Mai Sakurai) defeated 02lineC (AZM, Miyu Amasaki and Lady C) in 11:17 when Himeka pinned Miyu Amasaki. [50]

6. TRIANGLE DERBY - Classmates (Hazuki, Koguma and Saya Iida) defeated H&M’s (Mayu Iwatani, Hanan and Momo Kohgo) in 13:45 when Hazuki pinned Momo Kohgo with a Diving Senton. [60]

POST-MATCH: Mayu squares up to Hazuki before embracing her in respect. She sends the crowd home by giving Hazuki her support ahead of her challenge for the World of STARDOM Championship, saying that she believes in Hazuki, and that the Wildheart can take the biggest step in her career. Hazuki thanks Mayu for her support, but says that she needs to believe in herself to beat Giulia, and prove what she said to herself when she returned to STARDOM - she can be the World of STARDOM Champion! - Second injury in four shows. Maya Yukihi suffered a broken collar bone, nobody to blame but not ideal given that she’s been the clear best performer for her team. Unfortunately means she’ll be out of action for the rest of the tournament, but more on that shortly.

Yeah it was disappointing as I really wanted to see what Maya would do as I'm a big fan, but I'm quickly realising that I'm gonna have to work around injuries during this diary.

I'm considering my options with the SWA title, I do think there's an argument for a midcard belt for those that don't fit into the High Speed division, but are the SWA rules a bit too restrictive? Is there room to bring it back in a modified form? We'll see.

Maya Yukihi Injured, Rebel X Enemy Allowed Replacement

At the fourth night of STARDOM’s Triangle Derby Maya Yukihi suffered an unfortunate injury that will result in her having to miss the rest of the tournament. However in the interest of fairness to her teammates Ram Kaicho and Maika Ozaki, we have offered them the opportunity to pick a replacement partner to continue the tournament with. They have accepted this offer, and will continue in the tournament as a result. However their chosen replacement is unable to attend their scheduled match on night 5 of the tournament due to prior commitments and as such they will go ahead with the match in a 3-vs-2 handicap bout. Following that they will continue the tournament with their chosen replacement, the highly acclaimed Rina Yamashita!

POST-MATCH: AZM is handed her High Speed Championship when Saki snatches it from her, holding it for a moment before throwing it back at AZM. The two women seem poised to come to blows when Miyu and Lady C pull AZM back, knowing Tora and Ruaka will be quick to come to blows. [45]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Color’s (Hikari Shimizu, Rina Amikura and Yuko Sakurai) defeated Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May and Xia Brookside) in 9:39 when Hikari Shimizu pinned Xia Brookside with a Suimengeri. [38]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Neo Stardom Army (Nanae Takahashi, Yuu and Yuna Manase) defeated Rebel X Enemy (Ram Kaicho & Maika Ozaki) in a Handicap match in 8:05 when Yuu pinned Maika Ozaki with a Last Ride. POST-MATCH: Momo takes the microphone, first turning to Haruka Umesaki and admitting she has her doubts about Haruka’s toughness, but she’ll get the chance to prove herself tomorrow night when they clash with the rest of Oedo Tai. Haruka seemed game for the challenge, promising she’ll show the world how tough she is. Momo then turned her attention to other matters, decrying the fact that STARDOM has ‘padded’ Saya Kamitani’s Wonder of STARDOM title defences because they hate that she holds the record. Momo won’t let that happen, she won’t even let Saya tie her record. She officially challenges Saya Kamitani to make her her next title defence. Saya made her way to the ring, saying there’s no better way to tie Momo’s record than by beating her, accepting her challenge! [46]

1. Oedo Tai (Fukigen Death & Rina) defeated STARS (Waka Tsukiyama & Rina Amikura) in 12:05 when Rina pinned Waka Tsukiyama with a Jackknife Hold. Waka seemed extremely upset following the bout, and walked off when Tam Nakano & SAKI attempted to console her. [43]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Classmates (Hazuki, Koguma and Saya Iida) defeated Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May and Xia Brookside) in 11:30 when Hazuki pinned Mariah May with the Atomic Bombs Away. [47]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Cosmic Angels (Tam Nakano, Natsupoi and SAKI) defeated 02lineC (AZM, Miyu Amasaki and Lady C) in 10:36 when Natsupoi pinned Lady C with a Cartwheel Body Press. [53]

POST-MATCH: Frustrated at the loss, AZM takes a microphone after Cosmic Angels celebrations come to an end. She demands more from a dejected Miyu & Lady C, telling them that they might be inexperienced but they need to fight harder and demand more from themselves, or else do they really belong in Queen’s Quest? 4. Mafia Bella (Giulia & Thekla) defeated KARATE BRAVE (Syuri & Tomoka Inaba) in 13:59 when Giulia pinned Tomoka Inaba with a Diving Crossbody. [63]

5. TRIANGLE DERBY - Oedo Tai (Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima and Ruaka) drew with Unique Glare (Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid and Haruka Umesaki) in 15:00 when the time limit expired. Haruka Umesaki was the focus here as Natsuko Tora and Saki Kashima seemed to be testing whether she was tough enough for Oedo Tai, while at the same time the rest of the unit seemed to know each other too well to find a finish. The whole group exchanged fist bumps following the match, and Starlight Kid put an arm around Umesaki as they all left together. [56]

6. TRIANGLE DERBY - AphrOditE H (Utami Hayashishita, Saya Kamitani and Hina) defeated Neo Stardom Army (Nanae Takahashi, Yuu and Yuna Manase) in 13:07 when Utami Hayashishita submitted Yuna Manase with an Argentine Backbreaker Rack. [60]

POST-MATCH: Saya sends the crowd home with a passionate promo about what it will mean to her to tie Momo Watanabe’s title defence record when she faces the Black Peach, before promising that she won’t stop there, she is going to break the record outright. [37]

- The show ratings have been pretty steady during the first half of the tournament, and I’ve definitely got a feel for the roster in terms of who fits in where performance wise.

- The show features the first team statistically eliminated from making the top two of their group, with 02lineC only able to pick up a possible four points from their two remaining matches.

1. Saya Iida defeated Waka Tsukiyama and Tomoka Inaba in 11:41 when Saya Iida pinned Tomoka Inaba with the Iida Bridge. Waka seemed so close to getting the victory over Tomoka only for Saya Iida to take the victory right out from under her. Waka is distraught, and no amount of support from her Cosmic Angels allies can console her. [40]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - Oedo Tai (Natsuko Tora, Saki Kashima and Ruaka) defeated Color’s (Hikari Shimizu, Rina Amikura and Yuko Sakurai) in 10:22 when Saki Kashima pinned Yuko Sakurai with a Face Crusher. [42]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Rebel X Enemy (Rina Yamashita, Ram Kaicho and Maika Ozaki) defeated Abarenbo GE (Syuri, MIRAI and Ami Sourei) in 13:21 when Rina Yamashita pinned MIRAI with Splash Mountain. [58]

POST-MATCH: Rina Yamashita takes the microphone and focuses on Syuri who watches from outside the ring. Yamashita says that she has history with Syuri, and that the chance to beat her again was an added bonus to helping her friends in the Triangle Derby. Yamashita says she owns everywhere she steps foot, and STARDOM is no different, and promises to see Syuri again very soon. [52]

4. Prominence (Akane Fujita & Mochi Natsumi) defeated Queen’s Quest (Hina and Miyu Amasaki) in 9:08 when Akane Fujita submitted Miyu Amasaki with POM Juice. AZM seconded her Queen’s Quest unit-mates here and seemed bitterly disappointed when they came up on the losing end. [41]

5. TRIANGLE DERBY - Prominence (Risa Sera, Suzu Suzuki and Hiragi Kurumi) defeated MaihimeMai (Himeka, Maika and Mai Sakurai) in 11:53 when Risa Sera pinned Mai Sakurai with the Diving Double Kneedrop. [50]

6. TRIANGLE DERBY - H&M’s (Mayu Iwatani, Hanan and Momo Kohgo) defeated Unique Glare (Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid and Haruka Umesaki) in 13:20 when Mayu Iwatani pinned Starlight Kid with a Diving Double Foot Stomp. [61]

1. 7Upp (Nanae Takahashi & Yuu) defeated STARS (SAKI & Waka Tsukiyama) in 13:01 when Nanae Takahashi pinned Waka Tsukiyama with a Nana Rocker. [52]

POST-MATCH: 7Upp speak up following their win, the Goddesses of STARDOM Champions saying they came to New Blood because they like to see the potential here, but all they got tonight was poor little Waka. Nanae mocked Waka, asking how many losses has she had now and asking when she’s going to hang it up and accept she doesn’t belong here. An emotional Waka seemed poised to fight Nanae who goaded her to do it but ultimately she broke down in tears and left the ring with SAKI in pursuit. [39]

2. NEW BLOOD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT; QUARTER-FINAL - Queen’s Quest (Hina & Miyu Amasaki) defeated Momo Kohgo & Misa Matsui in 9:37 when Miyu Amasaki pinned Misa Matsui with a Double Underhook DDT. [37]

POST-MATCH: Ami celebrates with her Future of STARDOM Championship when Ruaka, flanked by members of Oedo Tai, emerges to challenge Ami to a rematch for the title. Ruaka claims that Ami Sourei might be a fighter, but does she have what it takes to do anything to keep that gold? Ruaka wants to find out, by facing her in a Hardcore match! Ami is hesitant, wondering what Syuri would do. She says a champion doesn’t back down, and accepts the challenge for New Blood 8! [30]

8. SPECIAL SHOWCASE MAIN EVENT - Cosmic Angels (Tam Nakano, Natsupoi and Mina Shirakawa) defeated Oedo Tai (Natsuko Tora, Starlight Kid and Saki Kashima) in 14:20 when Tam Nakano pinned Saki Kashima with a Spin Kick. [58]

NOTES:

- I’ll be honest, I originally had Ami and Mai as the main event but lost my nerve seeing some of their performances in the Triangle Derby so added the special showcase tag as a way to send the crowd home happy. Yes it’s playing the game somewhat but it ended up being the right thing to do because not only did Ami and Mai have lacklustre performances but they also had bad chemistry. It might be the way forward for these New Blood shows.

- Standout performers from the new blood talent included Saya Iida (49), MIRAI (41) and freelancers Kohaku (41) and Misa Matsui (39).

- Aoi was a last minute addition to the tournament when I changed my original plans up, but turns out she had excellent chemistry teaming with Lady C. Probably not enough for me to bring her in to the roster just yet given that Lady C isn’t exactly setting the world on fire, but probably enough to stick around for some more New Blood shows.

- On the opposite end of Nanami and Tomoka Inaba have zero chemistry teaming together, which doesn’t bode well for the God’s Eye unit-mates.

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Abarenbo GE (Syuri, MIRAI and Ami Sourei) defeated 02lineC (AZM, Miyu Amasaki and Lady C) in 8:08 when Syuri pinned Lady C with a KG Flash. [57]

POST-MATCH: AZM’s frustrations continue to grow as she grabs a microphone following their loss and says that Miyu and Lady C are letting her down with loss after loss, that she wants to see them prove they deserve to be in Queen’s Quest. They have one match left in the tournament, and she wants them to give it their all and make her, Utami and Saya proud. [36]

4. Oedo Tai (Starlight Kid & Haruka Umesaki) defeated Club Venus (Mariah May & Xia Brookside) in 11:43 when Haruka Umesaki pinned Mariah May with a Missile Kick. [48]

POST-MATCH: Tam Nakano attempts to send the crowd home happy with a post-show promo only to get interrupted by her fellow Cosmic Angel Hikari Shimizu, who points out that tomorrow night Cosmic Angels and Color’s go head to head once again. Shimizu says that she’s disappointed that Color’s has already been statistically eliminated but that they are going to bring it to their ‘leader’ Tam and their sub-unit mate SAKI. SAKI steps up before Tam can answer, saying that she wants to see her fellow Color’s remember what they’re all about and put on the match of the night. Tam agrees, and they all promise a big fight tomorrow night. [40]

NOTES:

- With two nights left in the tournament both groups are still wide open, with literally all seven teams in Triangle Blue technically able to qualify and five teams from Triangle Red still in the running. Night nine will feature another four matches, which will likely run the contenders down somewhat, and then the final seven matches will all take place on night ten to determine which two teams from each group moves into the semi-finals.

1. Saki Kashima defeated Lady C in 7:43 by pinfall with a Face Crusher. [41]

POST-MATCH: An almost gleeful Saki Kashima takes a microphone and mocks AZM’s many losses during the Triangle Derby, asking her why her precious Utami put her with the losers? Saki promises that once AZM crashes and burns in the tournament then she’s going to take the High Speed Championship as well and leave her with nothing! [46]

2. TRIANGLE DERBY - H&M’s (Mayu Iwatani, Hanan & Momo Kohgo) defeated Rebel X Enemy (Rina Yamashita, Ram Kaicho & Maika Ozaki) in 11:50 when Mayu Iwatani pinned Ram Kaicho with the Dragon Suplex Hold. [59]

3. TRIANGLE DERBY - Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May & Xia Brookside) defeated AphrOditE H (Utami Hayashishita, Saya Kamitani & Hina) in 12:51 when Mina Shirakawa submitted Hina with the Romero Special. [52]

4. FWC (Hazuki & Koguma) defeated Mafia Bella (Giulia & Thekla) in 13:41 when Hazuki pinned Thekla with a Codebreaker. [61]

POST-MATCH: Hazuki asks Giulia whether she got the version of her that she wanted? Hazuki promises that she’s going to bring everything she has to achieve her dream and topple Giulia, and that she might think she knows what Hazuki is capable of, but she’s going to prove her and everybody wrong because they’ve never seen this version of Hazuki! 5. TRIANGLE DERBY - Neo Stardom Army (Nanae Takahashi, Yuu and Yuna Manase) defeated Unique Glare (Momo Watanabe, Starlight Kid and Haruka Umesaki) in 13:43 when Yuu pinned Starlight Kid with a Last Ride. [60]

6. TRIANGLE DERBY - Color’s (Hikari Shimizu, Rina Amikura and Yuko Sakurai) defeated Cosmic Angels (Tam Nakano, Natsupoi and SAKI) in 12:17 when Hikari Shimizu pinned SAKI with a Suimengeri. An intense match saw SAKI twinge her ankle in the closing stretch, causing Waka Tsukiyama to jump into the ring to check on her. The referee demanded Waka leave the ring and the distraction caused SAKI to walk straight into the Suimengeri, Waka inadvertently costing Tam, Natsupoi and SAKI the match! [53]

POST-MATCH: Tam Nakano shows respect to her Color’s allies, congratulating them on a hard fought match, before turning to a remorseful Waka. Tam asks Waka what she thought she was doing, then saying that she didn’t think, that’s the problem. Tam says she has always supported Waka because she has always had the right attitude, but that she is dragging Cosmic Angels down now. Tam puts Waka on notice, telling her to find a way to turn things around, or she’s out of Cosmic Angels… [47]

- With one night left Triangle Blue is still wide open, with all seven teams technically able to qualify if results go their way. Four teams are still in with the possibility of qualifying from Triangle Red. In the event of any ties a tiebreaker match, with as many teams needed as possible, will take place on night 10.
