Historian Posted April 19, 2023 Author Share Posted April 19, 2023 Narrative Beginning of April, 2020 The brain trust of Mid Atlantic Wrestling, Sam Keith, Jay Fair, and Marvin Earnest, were gathered around the conference table. Spread out in front of them were the financial reports from March, as well as the agent notes from Antonio and Ace. March had been a good month as far as business was concerned. Merchandise revenue was good, sponsorship revenue was rising, ticket sales continued to trend up. Sam looked at Marv and Jay, "What do we think of the new TCW guys that just started?" At the end of March, Brent had called Sam and asked him to take on six new graduates from the TCW school. None of the six were 'tv' or 'show' ready, so Sam was prepared to let them work the dark matches before every show that MAW puts on in the near future. He might let them work Flashpoint as a way to flesh out those cards more. The first graduate was Phillip Epstein. A 22 year old out of Mesa, Arizona that was a solid technical wrestler with some charisma. At 6'1" and 253 pounds, he had decent size too. The second was Henry St. Pierre, a Mississippi born wrestler that was small at 5'8" and 213 pounds but made up for his lack in size with incredible charisma and microphone skills. With the right work, Henry could be a really good weasel heel. David Reeves, a Hispanic-American from Alaska due to his father being in the military, had pretty good babyface psychology for a rookie and could talk but was smaller than Henry at 5'7" and 209 pounds. He might be able to carve out a good spot as a middle of the card underdog babyface. Wesley Herring of Boston Masschutsets was the fourth graduate. The African-American wrestler called himself a technician but his in-ring skills might be the worst of the bunch. Fortunately for the eighteen year old, he looked like a star and that might be his saving grace. At 6' and 243 pounds he neither lacks size or has an abundance of it. The fifth graduate was Shawn Trewman. At 6'2" and 282 pounds, Trewman was a big boy who liked to throw fists and was naturally very likeable. He also lacked a lot of in-ring skills but his look and his physical attributes will probably take him far. The final graduate was similar to Trewman. Robin Briscoe was 6'4" and 270 pounder. The Rhode Island native was still very green but had all of the physical tools and the size that if he develops some in ring skills he could be a very valuable member of the roster. Of the six men, Sam was most confident in Trewman and Briscoe. They had the size, the physical tools, and the star quality that he might be able to make something out of them. He wasn't going to rush them though. After going over the graduates, Sam also announced that former SWF announcer Franklin Fumier was joining Mid Atlantic Wrestling fulltime. With Marv running EVE and that sometimes conflicting with some of the MAW shows, Franklin will make sure there is always a skilled announcer to work the MAW shows. Finally, Sam handed a portfolio to everyone. Sam, "This is Sheik Ali Al-Amin. I've seen some footage of him in Europe. He reminds me of Sheik Mustafa. Marv was absent from Super Showdown so Marv introduces Franklin Fumier and announces that he will be occasionally in the broadcast booth when his commitments to Project EVE interfere with his commitments in MAW. Sam Keith takes over and recaps what happened at Super Showdown -- specifically on the fact that DeMarcus & Gray won the COTT United States Tag Team Titles and that Bradley Blaze wrapped up another successful title defense of the COTT United States Championship. 79. Opening Match Singles Match One Fall Robin Briscoe vs. Dreadnought In a bout that didn't have much heat and embarrassing wrestling, Dreadnought defeated Robin Briscoe in 1:41 by pinfall with a Dread Bomb. 11 Non Title Match Singles Match One Fall Bradley Blaze vs. Seth Whitehead In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bradley Blaze defeated Seth Whitehead in 8:12 by pinfall with a Dallas Drop. 48 Blaze is celebrating his win and soaking in the adoration of the crowd when he is jumped by Antonio del Veccio, Annihilus, and a debuting Sheik Ali Al-Amin. Anniihilus keeps ringside security from getting to blaze while Antonio hits Blaze with his DDT. They lift blaze up so Sheik can throw a FIREBALL into Bradley's face. The locker room clears out and Antonio and company powder while medical staff checks on Bradley and we go to a break. 37. Singles Match One Fall Quentin Queen vs. The Historian In a decent match, The Historian defeated Quentin Queen in 7:28 by pinfall with a Blast From The Past. 35 Sandman Winks joins The Historian in the ring and the two men complain that they were cheated out of the COTT United States Tag Team Titles at Super Showdown. They say specifically that Nate DeMarcus greased himself so they could get a grip on him and that's why they lost -- because Nate DeMarcus and Tyrone Gray are a bunch of no good cheaters. 39. Main Event Tag Team Match One Fall The Heartbreak Express w/ Allison Addison vs. Copperhead & Trix Triumph w/ Lisa Bowen In a decent match, The Heartbreak Express defeated Copperhead and Trix Triumph in 14:52 when Johnny Needham pinned Copperhead with The Score. During the match, Johnny Needham suffered a minor concussion. 28 After winning, Ralph and Allison immediately check on Johnny who is glassy-eyed and doesn't look at all there after he landed roughly coming out of The Score. He doesn't want to wait for a chance at the COTT United States Title, so he's officially challenging reigning Internet Champion Henry Bennett to a match at MAW Americana. 45 Ralph and Addison give an update on Johnny. He's suffered a mild concussion but he should be medically cleared in the beginning of April. When he's cleared, they want a chance to win the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championship from whomever is holding them at the time. 25 Singles Match One Fall Ox Mastadon vs. Dreadnought In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Dreadnought defeated Ox Mastadon in 3:40 by pinfall with a Dread Bomb. 9 Sam Keith gives us a medical update on Bradley Blaze after the heinous attack on him. Blaze is at home this week recoopuerating from the burns he suffered to his face. Thankfully, MAW medically staff was able to prevent more serious injury by reacting so quickly. He also announces that MAW has fined Antonio Del Veccio, Sheik Ali Al-Amin and Annihilus for their heinous attack on Bradley. 71 Mid Atlantic Championship Singles Match One Fall Ace Youngblood vs. Deuce Deadline (c) w/ Lisa Bowen In a decent match, Ace Youngblood defeated Deuce Deadline in 10:25 by pinfall with a fast roll up. Ace Youngblood wins the Mid Atlantic Championship title. 35 Nate DeMarcus and Tyrone Gray confront The Past Masters backstage. They were incredibly insulted by The Past Master's comments calling them cheaters and have officially challenged them to a match at Americana where they will put the United States Tag Team Titles on the line. 35 Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championship Tag Team Match One Fall The Puerto Rican Boys vs. The Wolf Pack (c) w/ Lisa Bowen In a decent match, The Wolf Pack defeated The Puerto Rican Boys in 15:28 when Sean Noggin pinned Kid San Juan with a Hangman's Neckbreaker. Historian Posted May 1, 2023 Author Share Posted May 1, 2023 News Update Mon W3 April, 2020 Today, effective immediately, Total Championship Wrestling and Mid Atlantic Wrestling have come to terms to stop the sending of developmental talent to Mid Atlantic Wrestling.
